- 00:00:00well it's at time of season again it's
- 00:00:02time for all the Black Friday sales and
- 00:00:04this week is no exception this week
- 00:00:06going forward through December 3rd blue
- 00:00:08Eddie is going to be having some of
- 00:00:09their best sale prices of the year and
- 00:00:11I'm going to be placing links in the
- 00:00:13description down below so if you're
- 00:00:15looking for a blue Eddie portable power
- 00:00:17station and you want to see some of the
- 00:00:18great things they have to offer make
- 00:00:20sure you check out the description below
- 00:00:21in the video and because Black Friday is
- 00:00:24going on that's the reason why blue
- 00:00:25Eddie asked me to do a review on the
- 00:00:27ac300 and their new battery the B300 K
- 00:00:30the ac300 has been out for a couple
- 00:00:32years now and the reason why it's still
- 00:00:33in production is because they did it
- 00:00:35right the first time one of the nice
- 00:00:37things about the ac300 here is it's a
- 00:00:39modular design meaning there's no
- 00:00:40battery built into this top section all
- 00:00:43of your solar and all of your power
- 00:00:44inverters are all built into just this
- 00:00:46section here but if you have a problem
- 00:00:48with your battery it's completely
- 00:00:49separated down here below as time goes
- 00:00:51on and blue Eddie comes out with a new
- 00:00:53battery chemistry you'll be able to
- 00:00:55upgrade it to the next size battery and
- 00:00:57keep things going along and if you ever
- 00:00:59had to have a war waranty claim it makes
- 00:01:00it a lot easier on shipping it also
- 00:01:02reduces the weight so what I'm going to
- 00:01:04be doing today is going over all the
- 00:01:05different specs and I'm going to be
- 00:01:06testing to make sure this device
- 00:01:08actually produces everything that they
- 00:01:09say it does if you're like me I'm a
- 00:01:11conscious Shopper and I want the best
- 00:01:12bang for the buck and I want to make
- 00:01:14sure I'm getting my money's worth so if
- 00:01:15that's the kind of Shopper you are
- 00:01:17you're going to enjoy today's video so
- 00:01:18let's go ahead and get some of the
- 00:01:19basics out of the way right now so up
- 00:01:21here on top we have the ac300 this
- 00:01:23features a 3000 W pure sine wave
- 00:01:26inverter the device is capable of being
- 00:01:28twinned together with another one one so
- 00:01:30that you can get split phasing which
- 00:01:32would then take your 3,000 Watts up to
- 00:01:346,000 Watts this does have a peak
- 00:01:37capacity of 6,000 watts and then if you
- 00:01:39were twinned obviously it would go to
- 00:01:4112,000 the device does offer a total of
- 00:01:43620 volt Outlets up here that are all
- 00:01:45rated for 20 amps a piece it also offers
- 00:01:48two 18w usba plugs here on the front and
- 00:01:51right to the side of it we have two usba
- 00:01:533 amp plugs and directly above it we
- 00:01:55have a 100 W USBC plug the device does
- 00:01:58offer a 30 amp RV plug here on the front
- 00:02:01hand side now obviously 3,000 Watts
- 00:02:03comes out to be in 25 amps but the plug
- 00:02:05is a 30 amp plug we're going to be using
- 00:02:07this to test out the device here in a
- 00:02:09little bit and I'm going to be showing
- 00:02:10you how to power your whole house with
- 00:02:12this without having to run extension
- 00:02:13cords all over I'm going to show you
- 00:02:15some of the different options of
- 00:02:16different types of transfer switches
- 00:02:18everything from a very simplistic switch
- 00:02:20up to the current ones that they
- 00:02:22recommend I'll also be demonstrating how
- 00:02:24the transfer switches work I have a
- 00:02:26total of two different ones that we can
- 00:02:27show you I'm also going to be performing
- 00:02:29a lot of test on the device we're going
- 00:02:30to make sure that it actually produces
- 00:02:32the voltage and the amperage that it's
- 00:02:33rated for we're going to find out how
- 00:02:35much it can handle we're going to check
- 00:02:36it with the thermal imager making sure
- 00:02:38that it doesn't overheat here on the
- 00:02:39front corner here we do have a 12vt 30
- 00:02:41amp plug which does require the adapter
- 00:02:44so that you can take it to the type of
- 00:02:45plug that you want and right beside that
- 00:02:47we have a 24v 10 amp plug which is looks
- 00:02:50just like a traditional 12volt plug so
- 00:02:53you do not want to plug a 12volt system
- 00:02:54into that it will definitely destroy it
- 00:02:57however that is a nice feature for those
- 00:02:59out there that has have appliances that
- 00:03:00run on 24 volts cuz it's going to run a
- 00:03:02lot more efficient and right over here
- 00:03:04on the side of the unit we've got the
- 00:03:07main connections up here at top we have
- 00:03:09the 120 volt plug input which it comes
- 00:03:12standard at a 1800 wat charge rate the
- 00:03:14same plug here is capable of charging at
- 00:03:16up to 3,000 WTS which we're going to be
- 00:03:18demonstrating that here in a little bit
- 00:03:20with the l14 plug and directly below
- 00:03:22that AC plug is our DC input which gives
- 00:03:25us a total of 12 volts to 150 volts DC
- 00:03:28they do include the plug system here
- 00:03:30which are able to plug into it and screw
- 00:03:32it on so that it doesn't come out and
- 00:03:34what that gives you is two individual
- 00:03:36solar arrays as long as you're in
- 00:03:38between that 12vt and 150 range you're
- 00:03:40able to have them running at two
- 00:03:41different voltages because they're
- 00:03:43completely separate now if your solar
- 00:03:44array does go over the 150 volts that
- 00:03:46it's rated at Blue eddi does offer a
- 00:03:48device called the d300s which allows you
- 00:03:50to drop that power down to the
- 00:03:52recommended level of under 150 volts so
- 00:03:55that's something to keep in mind another
- 00:03:57option you can do with these solar panel
- 00:03:58inputs here is you can actually change
- 00:04:00it to a different type of input such as
- 00:04:02a lead acid battery allowing you to
- 00:04:04charge that method or you can also do
- 00:04:07their wind turbine or EV charging so it
- 00:04:10is capable of doing several different
- 00:04:12types of charging one of the other
- 00:04:13interesting things it can do is not only
- 00:04:15can it charge at 3,000 watts of AC power
- 00:04:17it can also charge at 2400 watts of
- 00:04:19solar power at the same time giving you
- 00:04:22a total input of 5400 Watts which when
- 00:04:24you have the additional batteries which
- 00:04:26this can do up to four of them that is
- 00:04:29going to help out getting you charged
- 00:04:30back up to the maximum power now this
- 00:04:32modular system is plugged together with
- 00:04:34the plug that you see right here when
- 00:04:36you pull back the actual switch that
- 00:04:38unlocks it it tells the device
- 00:04:40immediately that something's wrong the
- 00:04:42unit will not run unless that is fully
- 00:04:44engaged all the way to the lock position
- 00:04:46which we also have another lock position
- 00:04:47down here on this plug down on bottom so
- 00:04:50just so you know if you're having
- 00:04:51problems with it make sure you check to
- 00:04:52make sure that is actually locked in now
- 00:04:54like I was saying the ac300 can be
- 00:04:57powered off a total of four batteries
- 00:04:58they do have two inputs here for the
- 00:05:00extra batteries on the side and the
- 00:05:02batteries themselves also have an extra
- 00:05:04input port on the side there you're able
- 00:05:06to jump from the ac300 down to the first
- 00:05:09battery out of the next battery down to
- 00:05:11the second battery and then use your
- 00:05:13second input here on the top to do
- 00:05:15exactly the same thing for the other two
- 00:05:16batteries that you'd want to add to it
- 00:05:18the device also does come with a 12vt
- 00:05:20car plug here that you're able to plug
- 00:05:21it into the actual solar inputs there it
- 00:05:24is limited to around 8.4 amps which is
- 00:05:27going to be a very long time to charge
- 00:05:28this Beast back up
- 00:05:30but it is available now jumping down to
- 00:05:32the battery because like I said this is
- 00:05:33one of their new batteries they just
- 00:05:35came out with now I'm going to go ahead
- 00:05:36and round it from
- 00:05:3827648 up to 2765 just for Simplicity
- 00:05:42purposes here it is rated at
- 00:05:442765 wats we're going to be testing that
- 00:05:47to see what kind of efficiency we get
- 00:05:48out of it and another neat thing they
- 00:05:50did too is they increased the capacity
- 00:05:52out of this battery taking it from 3500
- 00:05:54charge cycles up to 4,000 charge cycles
- 00:05:58so you've gained 500 extra charge cycles
- 00:06:00with this new type of battery the
- 00:06:01battery does offer a usba plug here on
- 00:06:04the very front it is a standard usba at
- 00:06:0712 WS nothing super fancy on that and it
- 00:06:11is pretty simple there's no extra
- 00:06:13buttons or anything like that to mess up
- 00:06:15blue Ed also offers a couple other
- 00:06:16batteries that are B300 series one's an
- 00:06:19S and one has no letter after it at all
- 00:06:21those batteries are available so if you
- 00:06:23need to do charging in cold weather the
- 00:06:25one has a heater built into it but like
- 00:06:27I said the big selling point here on the
- 00:06:29B300 K is the fact that they were able
- 00:06:31to produce this at a lower cost and give
- 00:06:34you more lifespan out of the battery
- 00:06:37this battery does come in at about $400
- 00:06:38cheaper than the previous battery even
- 00:06:40though the wat hours was just slightly
- 00:06:42lower at about 300 hours but yet the
- 00:06:45efficiency out the battery seems to be
- 00:06:47making up for that the device does offer
- 00:06:49some fans right here on the side if you
- 00:06:51actually was able to take a look on the
- 00:06:52inside of it you can see that we have
- 00:06:54two separate panels inside there of the
- 00:06:56electronics they have got really large
- 00:06:58fans in there which keep the noise
- 00:07:00levels down and we're going to be
- 00:07:02testing that here in just a little bit I
- 00:07:04was also pretty impressed with the heat
- 00:07:05dissipation that the unit does it
- 00:07:07actually rejected heat very efficiently
- 00:07:09and it was pretty quiet so to shut the
- 00:07:11device off you do long press the button
- 00:07:14there for about 3 seconds and then let
- 00:07:16off and the device shuts off the battery
- 00:07:18in the top section at the same time now
- 00:07:21you're able to do the same thing in
- 00:07:22Reverse you can do it down here at the
- 00:07:23battery hold it for a long press and
- 00:07:26then let off and it starts to light up
- 00:07:28the top
- 00:07:29just like that now this very final plug
- 00:07:32down here on bottom that I hadn't talked
- 00:07:33about yet is your communication plug
- 00:07:36this is the plug that you're going to
- 00:07:37use if you do twin this with another
- 00:07:39ac300 that is going to connect one
- 00:07:41device to the other allowing them to do
- 00:07:43split phase you will need the fusion
- 00:07:45plug and adapter so that you can combine
- 00:07:48those together to get that 6,000 WS of
- 00:07:50continuous power we're going to go ahead
- 00:07:52and shut it down here so that I can kind
- 00:07:54of show you how this comes apart like I
- 00:07:56said you have a lock mechanism there
- 00:07:57that we're going to disengage you push
- 00:07:59the front button there and it pulls
- 00:08:01right out that simple that is a pretty
- 00:08:03heavy duty plug there the plug in the
- 00:08:05wiring stayed well with intolerances it
- 00:08:07never got over 90° even when we were
- 00:08:09pulling at maximum power the way this
- 00:08:11separates here is you're able to pick up
- 00:08:13this top section and move it off to the
- 00:08:15side the ac300 here is 47.5 lb I'm going
- 00:08:19to go ahead and put on the display the
- 00:08:20actual dimensions of it so that you can
- 00:08:22see it in metric and in standard and
- 00:08:25coming over to our battery here this
- 00:08:26weighs in right at 65 lb it is
- 00:08:30manageable but you know Grandma's
- 00:08:33probably not going to like it but it is
- 00:08:35better than having to lift one of the
- 00:08:36power stations that have everything
- 00:08:38combined together that weigh well over
- 00:08:40100 to 115 lbs so it is manageable one
- 00:08:44other thing here that I didn't mention
- 00:08:45on the very top here we have two 15 amp
- 00:08:48wireless chargers which allow you to
- 00:08:50charge your wireless devices that are
- 00:08:52wireless and now that we've covered some
- 00:08:54of the basics about what it has to offer
- 00:08:56let's get into some of the testing all
- 00:08:57right one of the first things I want to
- 00:08:58test here is the 20 millisecond switch
- 00:09:00over speed for the actual UPS so as you
- 00:09:03can see here we do not have a battery in
- 00:09:05the back of the computer I am powered
- 00:09:07purely off of the actual cord right
- 00:09:09there as you can see right now to prove
- 00:09:11that we're actually plugged into the
- 00:09:12wall we are charging at around 1,600
- 00:09:15wats area we have the power strip
- 00:09:17plugged in here now the voltage you can
- 00:09:18see is around 112 113 that tends to drop
- 00:09:21when it's charging at a high rate not
- 00:09:23sure why most power stations I've seen
- 00:09:25do the same thing so we'll see if we can
- 00:09:27actually see the blink here on the
- 00:09:28actual meter
- 00:09:30there it is instantly back to 120 you
- 00:09:31can see it changed you see the lamp on
- 00:09:34the right hand side go ahead and kill
- 00:09:36the power again you seen a little bit of
- 00:09:39a blank nothing did anything there hit
- 00:09:41one more time yep yeah I was barely
- 00:09:44pushing on the switch you seen it click
- 00:09:45immediately computer did not go out I
- 00:09:47know there's some talk about heavier
- 00:09:49running computers and stuff like that
- 00:09:50but at 20 milliseconds that's pretty
- 00:09:52quick and it's a lot of capacity for
- 00:09:54most normal computers so it's a nice
- 00:09:56setup either way so it passes that test
- 00:09:58we have a special tool here that allows
- 00:10:00us to talk its language so that it can
- 00:10:02actually kick into the PD charging that
- 00:10:04we're going to be doing uh we're going
- 00:10:06to go ahead and put it in PD charging
- 00:10:07now and then we're going to force it to
- 00:10:09actually run all right we've got it
- 00:10:10prepped and ready to go at 20 volts
- 00:10:12output and 5 amps maximum current 20 * 5
- 00:10:16is going to be right around 100 100
- 00:10:19Watts if you look over to here you can
- 00:10:21see that we're actually voltage is right
- 00:10:23at 20 volts we'll start off at 30 power
- 00:10:26station is showing 30 up top there we go
- 00:10:3040 5050 60 70 80 there's 90 90 Watts
- 00:10:36we're at 18.7 volts currents 4.8 amps
- 00:10:41according to that we are pulling 99
- 00:10:43Watts on the actual device so in all
- 00:10:46reality if I go too much higher here
- 00:10:48we're going to fall below our actual Max
- 00:10:50for the other devices and then it'll
- 00:10:52shut down and go one watt at a time
- 00:10:55there's
- 00:10:5591 that's showing 101 up there the
- 00:10:58biggest thing is our current can't go
- 00:11:00over five there's 4.9 so that's 92 Watts
- 00:11:04there and it's showing 102 so it's
- 00:11:06actually doing exactly what they said it
- 00:11:08would do high-s speeed charging on USBC
- 00:11:10I say that's a pass testing the battery
- 00:11:13pack itself it's rated for 12 watts and
- 00:11:15we come over here to the actual tester
- 00:11:18and we're right in there at 12 watts and
- 00:11:20at 4.8 volts and 2.4 amps so just for
- 00:11:24Giggles we can go ahead and see how much
- 00:11:26further we can go before it kicks out
- 00:11:2913 watts and she says no I say that
- 00:11:33right there is also a pass now on this
- 00:11:36next test we're going to be using a line
- 00:11:38splitter and we're going to be using an
- 00:11:39inrush meter to see whether or not it
- 00:11:41can do over the three over the 6,000
- 00:11:43Watts that it can do on inrush when this
- 00:11:46saw starts up we're going to be able to
- 00:11:48see how many watts it actually pulls on
- 00:11:50Startup and we can find out whether or
- 00:11:52not this thing's capable of doing what
- 00:11:54it's rated at now you're going to see
- 00:11:55this also being used at another test
- 00:11:57here in a little bit I wanted to show
- 00:11:58you how how many amps this actually
- 00:12:00pulls at startup which you have to have
- 00:12:02a special meter to be able to do this so
- 00:12:05we're going to turn on inrush you can
- 00:12:06see it's at zero right there so let's go
- 00:12:08ahead and pull the
- 00:12:10[Music]
- 00:12:10[Applause]
- 00:12:13trigger we're at 41.4 amps now when I
- 00:12:17tested this earlier on regular utility
- 00:12:19it came in at 52 amps all right we're
- 00:12:22going to take the 41.3 there and we're
- 00:12:24going to take that times the voltage
- 00:12:26which this has been averaging about 120
- 00:12:28volts and and that is going to put us at
- 00:12:314,956 Watts now one thing I do want to
- 00:12:34mention is how these interlock really
- 00:12:36well because of the way the handle
- 00:12:38placement is if you see the bottom of
- 00:12:40the actual Power Station it has rubber
- 00:12:42feet down there and they line up
- 00:12:44perfectly with the handles so when it
- 00:12:46comes down it actually locks in there
- 00:12:49really well and it doesn't get Tippy or
- 00:12:51anything like that and just so you know
- 00:12:54the batteries are supposed to be placed
- 00:12:55on bottom never on top of the unit that
- 00:12:57is in the instructions all all right so
- 00:12:59we have the l14 charger there plugged
- 00:13:01into the actual Power Station we're
- 00:13:03going to test to see whether or not it
- 00:13:04can charge at 3,000 W okay we're going
- 00:13:06to go into the blue Eddie app here I'm
- 00:13:08going to click on my devices there we
- 00:13:10are connected to it let's go to that nut
- 00:13:13up the top Corner advanced
- 00:13:16settings Max grid go to PR
- 00:13:20mode enter the
- 00:13:25password and now we can take it up to 30
- 00:13:27amps for whatever reason it didn't not
- 00:13:29want to work with the actual front
- 00:13:31display now we should be able to go back
- 00:13:33to home and we can see we're right at 26
- 00:13:3727 it's climbing up right now we're at
- 00:13:422700 almost 2800 watts and she's doing
- 00:13:46it no problem at
- 00:13:47all a fan just came
- 00:13:50on not very loud
- 00:13:52though is there anything in here else we
- 00:13:55need to here's your silent mode that'll
- 00:13:57actually allow you to run it down to
- 00:13:59about 10 amps uh eco mode will shut it
- 00:14:02down when uh the machine's not being
- 00:14:03used and the actual usage is low machine
- 00:14:06type whether it's single phase or what
- 00:14:08have you you can actually change that
- 00:14:10here if you have two of them you can
- 00:14:12change your frequency and voltages which
- 00:14:13you better hope you know what you're
- 00:14:14doing if you're going to do that your
- 00:14:16alarms are in here you can clear them
- 00:14:18and what have you your data what's going
- 00:14:20on product information battery
- 00:14:22information state of charge stuff like
- 00:14:24that it's all pretty pretty cool I will
- 00:14:27admit they probably have one of the best
- 00:14:28manuals I have seen yet um easy to read
- 00:14:32uh all of the sentences are correct easy
- 00:14:36to read lots of details in there really
- 00:14:39nice so if we come in there we can
- 00:14:41actually see the power station's pulling
- 00:14:43about 23 amps right now it's only going
- 00:14:45to be pulling on I believe one leg let's
- 00:14:48check the other leg here yeah it's only
- 00:14:49doing this at 120 volts so as you can
- 00:14:52see the other leg of the 230 volt
- 00:14:54circuit is completely dead do not play
- 00:14:56in your electrical panel this is
- 00:14:58dangerous and I purposely did not show a
- 00:15:00whole lot of work being done in here
- 00:15:02just because of liabilities and such as
- 00:15:04that I deal with people every day in my
- 00:15:07job and I see some of the bad things
- 00:15:08that can happen when you're not real
- 00:15:10sure what you're doing so like I said
- 00:15:12you're right around 23 amps now one
- 00:15:15thing I'm going to point out this box
- 00:15:17here is wired for 230 volt so basically
- 00:15:19using L1 and L2 at the circuitry that
- 00:15:22may not mean something to some people
- 00:15:23out there but basically it's wired up
- 00:15:25for two individual legs of power which
- 00:15:27is your split phase
- 00:15:29one thing I didn't mention in the
- 00:15:30original video when we're testing this
- 00:15:32out is because I wanted the flexibility
- 00:15:34of being able to power this with a 230
- 00:15:36volt generator this plug unfortunately
- 00:15:39is only sending out power on a neutral a
- 00:15:41hot leg and a ground this plug up here
- 00:15:44did not uh convert L1 to L2 and power
- 00:15:48them both off of the uh single 120 volt
- 00:15:51phase to plug that in all you got to do
- 00:15:54is plug it into there and now you should
- 00:15:56have power up here to your transfer
- 00:15:58switch so AC power is on I can flip that
- 00:16:02to
- 00:16:03generator right now because I haven't
- 00:16:06modified my switch uh only every other
- 00:16:09leg is getting power so I'm going to end
- 00:16:11up chopping this plug off and wiring L1
- 00:16:14and L2 together and then this plug will
- 00:16:17only be getting plugged into 120 volt
- 00:16:19appliances so it'll never cause a
- 00:16:21problem it will not cause a short phase
- 00:16:23to phase uh I don't know why they didn't
- 00:16:25do that in this particular plug but
- 00:16:26you're going to need an adapter to be
- 00:16:28able to do do that or you're going to
- 00:16:29have to buy an end and actually wire it
- 00:16:31yourself I could have always hooked the
- 00:16:33phase to phase here together in the box
- 00:16:35if this was the only device I was going
- 00:16:37to run but I chose not to do that just
- 00:16:39so that I could run other devices that
- 00:16:41are 230 volts and if I would have done
- 00:16:43that in the Box I would have risk the
- 00:16:45chance of possibly blowing up another
- 00:16:47device that was actually running both
- 00:16:49legs of power and would have damaged
- 00:16:51them as a dead short so that is how easy
- 00:16:54it is to set this thing up just plug it
- 00:16:56in there plug it in here flip it to
- 00:16:58generator you're done you're able to
- 00:16:59monitor your actual meters here there's
- 00:17:02nothing major on this particular box
- 00:17:04that uh requires a lot of power so
- 00:17:06there's not a whole lot to show on this
- 00:17:08okay now we're going to begin the static
- 00:17:09draw test it's 949 we have the power
- 00:17:12station fully charged 100% we're going
- 00:17:14to have the DC off and the AC turned on
- 00:17:16we're going to see how much is lost just
- 00:17:18setting in standby with the AC inverter
- 00:17:19turned on this is going to show us how
- 00:17:21inefficient the inverter is just in
- 00:17:23standby all right it's been 24 hours and
- 00:17:26we are right at just about 9:00 and we
- 00:17:29have dropped down to 71% if you have a
- 00:17:31small appliance that's not pulling a lot
- 00:17:33of power you got to take into
- 00:17:34consideration the amount of power you
- 00:17:36losing per hour away from your battery
- 00:17:39everyone asks how long will it run a
- 00:17:41refrigerator or some sort of Appliance
- 00:17:43and that's going to be all dependent
- 00:17:44upon how long the unit's turned on just
- 00:17:46running a standby how many things are
- 00:17:48running so it's really hard to determine
- 00:17:50the best thing I can say is buy yourself
- 00:17:52one of these little power devices here
- 00:17:54it will keep track of how much power
- 00:17:56you're using like right now it just
- 00:17:57kicked on and and we're pulling
- 00:18:05173.000 and we're going to just run this
- 00:18:07till it goes dead this is just a
- 00:18:08traditional refrigerator nothing fancy
- 00:18:11it's a little bit older one if you have
- 00:18:12a more efficient one then you'll be able
- 00:18:14to get a little bit more runtime out of
- 00:18:15it currently right now we're at
- 00:18:179:04 and there's our date let's see what
- 00:18:20we get coming right back in there we're
- 00:18:228:09 in the morning we are at 8% there
- 00:18:24on our battery life and it's still going
- 00:18:27however I'm going to say that we pretty
- 00:18:28much have gotten everything we're going
- 00:18:30to get out of it we've gotten a total of
- 00:18:32about 1.6 kilowatt hours out of it the
- 00:18:35purpose of this is to kind of illustrate
- 00:18:37that the real life usage out of these is
- 00:18:39going to be different grand total we got
- 00:18:41about 23.2 hours and I would call it
- 00:18:43easily at 24 hours of runtime on a
- 00:18:45regular refrigerator and this being an
- 00:18:47older refrigerator you may actually get
- 00:18:49a little bit more out of it however
- 00:18:51that's about 24 hours of Total run time
- 00:18:53all right right now we're going to go
- 00:18:55ahead and do the total capacity test of
- 00:18:57the battery we'll go ahead and drain it
- 00:18:58down with two electric heaters we'll
- 00:19:00also test to see what kind of capacity
- 00:19:02we can get out of it far as wattage so
- 00:19:04we're pulling 1357 Watts on that one and
- 00:19:07we're pulling
- 00:19:091445 over here on this one both of them
- 00:19:12are keeping track of how many kilowatts
- 00:19:13we've got so we're rated at 2,764 w
- 00:19:16hours there's always an efficiency loss
- 00:19:17when you're converting from DC to AC
- 00:19:19power let's see what that is as we can
- 00:19:21see here we are pulling
- 00:19:232756 Watts out of the machine at the
- 00:19:25same time probably not the most accurate
- 00:19:27way in the world to do it but we're
- 00:19:28going to find out how much noise this
- 00:19:29putts off so let's go ahead and pull her
- 00:19:31down pretty hard at just under its full
- 00:19:33capacity and we'll see what kind of
- 00:19:34noise we get out of the fan motor all
- 00:19:36right now we're testing out the sine
- 00:19:38wave to see if it's actually a clean
- 00:19:40sine wave or not it appears right now we
- 00:19:42are right at a perfect 60 HZ sign wave
- 00:19:45you can see our reading down here at the
- 00:19:46bottom and you can see that our pattern
- 00:19:48here is fine whether we're pulling a
- 00:19:50load or not does not make a difference
- 00:19:53on it no
- 00:19:55load full
- 00:19:57load over here to the side we also have
- 00:20:00confirmation off the meter here we're
- 00:20:02right at 60 Herz and even under a full
- 00:20:04load we're running 12.9 volts so it
- 00:20:07passes the sniff test on the actual
- 00:20:09clean power coming back over here to the
- 00:20:11plugs we have the center there now at
- 00:20:14about 75° on the actual plug itself but
- 00:20:19you're going to anytime you have a place
- 00:20:20where it's going to be a little
- 00:20:21resistive heat you're going to have a
- 00:20:22little bit of heat there so we can see
- 00:20:24down here at the bottom right hand side
- 00:20:25of the screen you can see we're coming
- 00:20:26in at about 98° exiting out the side of
- 00:20:29the device as we come down to the
- 00:20:31battery you can see down there the
- 00:20:32battery is holding in there at about
- 00:20:3473° nothing getting hot on it coming
- 00:20:37into the outside edge here you can see
- 00:20:40that the middle of the actual power
- 00:20:41inverter is running right in at about
- 00:20:4372° the actual cord like I said right
- 00:20:46there is running in at about 97 we've
- 00:20:48been running at almost Peak capacity now
- 00:20:50for 28 minutes and we're checking our
- 00:20:55SPL we're coming in right at about 44.5
- 00:20:58DB that's your SPL which is sound
- 00:21:00pressure level all right we just drained
- 00:21:02it completely down to zero now blue
- 00:21:04Eddie does not recommend doing that it
- 00:21:06does not want you to leave it at zero
- 00:21:08for long as a matter of fact they really
- 00:21:09don't want you to go much below 5%
- 00:21:11according to what the manual says so
- 00:21:13we're going to need to plug it back in
- 00:21:14so that we can actually see how many
- 00:21:15Watt hours we got out of it so let's go
- 00:21:17ahead and do that real quick all right
- 00:21:19so what we got was 51 almost 52 minutes
- 00:21:21of run time here out of the one and we
- 00:21:24got 51 minutes out of this one we have
- 00:21:261.2 35
- 00:21:29KW and 1.13 KW hours we go ahead and add
- 00:21:33this together and throw it on the screen
- 00:21:34right now and when we divide that by the
- 00:21:382764 that the batter is rated for we
- 00:21:41come up with this percentage mark right
- 00:21:42here we got 1400 here we have 1394 here
- 00:21:47so we'll go ahead and let it run until
- 00:21:48she goes dead and we'll see if we can
- 00:21:50improve on that 85% where we pulled it
- 00:21:52down at almost maximum capacity you're
- 00:21:55able to see here that we did get 2500
- 00:21:57WTS out of it do the math here we'll
- 00:21:59throw that on the
- 00:22:00screen and as you see there we are more
- 00:22:03efficient when we pull a little bit less
- 00:22:04load out of it at one time but there's
- 00:22:07the efficiency of the inverter under a
- 00:22:09normal
- 00:22:12load right around 45 DB while it's
- 00:22:14recharging we're at 25% and we're
- 00:22:17charging at 1,800 Watts now you can put
- 00:22:20it in quiet mode that is an option in
- 00:22:21your settings you can set it for 10 amps
- 00:22:23and that will lower down the fan speed
- 00:22:25to the point where you won't be able to
- 00:22:26hear it now what we're going to go ahead
- 00:22:28and do is we're going to turn on just
- 00:22:29the DC and we're going to do a DC draw
- 00:22:31down test just to see how much power we
- 00:22:33lose when it's setting in standby we're
- 00:22:35going to go ahead and start the clock
- 00:22:36here at 7:46 all right we're at 11:30
- 00:22:39now so we are at about 14 hours of
- 00:22:42standby time as you can see here we're
- 00:22:44at 95% we lost 5% of our power just
- 00:22:48setting in standby with the DC which is
- 00:22:51not a whole lot of power lost so it
- 00:22:53actually did really well on that test on
- 00:22:56our next test here we're going to go
- 00:22:57ahead and test this out see see if it
- 00:22:58can run a 130 Volt Welder we're going to
- 00:23:01go at the maximum amp draw there of the
- 00:23:04welder itself this is one of those weird
- 00:23:06tests that somebody asked about on
- 00:23:08another Power Station and I've kind of
- 00:23:10implemented it into the last few power
- 00:23:16stations sounds pretty
- 00:23:20good okay let's see what the meter
- 00:23:22picked up for its
- 00:23:24minimum the lowest it dropped down to
- 00:23:27was 117.5 still very
- 00:23:34acceptable next we're going to try out a
- 00:23:3615 amp circular
- 00:23:49saw okay now it's time to eat some lunch
- 00:23:52so we'll put a little bit of water in
- 00:23:54there this kind of emics a day on the
- 00:23:57job site so we'll go go ahead and hit
- 00:23:59start we are at 100%
- 00:24:16power yep you never want to run a
- 00:24:18microwave without some sort of load in
- 00:24:19there all right now let's go ahead and
- 00:24:21talk about how we can connect this to
- 00:24:22the home's electrical panel we've got a
- 00:24:24couple different options that we can do
- 00:24:25with this we can go with a transfer
- 00:24:27panel like the pro Tran 2 here by
- 00:24:29Reliance uh I believe blue Eddie has a
- 00:24:31couple kits where you can get this
- 00:24:33included with it but they sent me this
- 00:24:34so that I could show a couple different
- 00:24:36ways to hook it up so if we open this up
- 00:24:38you'll see that we have a total of 10
- 00:24:40circuits here it can do 120 volt or 240
- 00:24:43volt circuits it has a single pull
- 00:24:44double throw switch here on top
- 00:24:46basically a transfer switch which allows
- 00:24:48you to turn off the utility and turn it
- 00:24:50to generator safely so that you don't
- 00:24:52back feed into the line utility voltage
- 00:24:55possibly hurting a utility worker and
- 00:24:57also possibly damaging some things
- 00:24:59inside the home or your power station
- 00:25:01the next option is to use an inlet box
- 00:25:03like I've got here on the side which
- 00:25:05also includes the same type of l14 plug
- 00:25:08that we have down here on the transfer
- 00:25:09panel but the only difference is you
- 00:25:12have to do your switching what you do is
- 00:25:14you actually have a interlock switch
- 00:25:16here on the top with this type of system
- 00:25:19before you can turn on that Inlet box
- 00:25:20that you see here on the side you have
- 00:25:22to turn your main breaker off flipping
- 00:25:25that off this slides up and this slides
- 00:25:27over electri find the whole panel here
- 00:25:29and then you have to choose what circuit
- 00:25:31you want to use so unless you have a
- 00:25:32very large generator or power station
- 00:25:35you'll need to make sure that you don't
- 00:25:36overload it so although this is cheaper
- 00:25:39it can be a little more of a hassle for
- 00:25:40those that aren't as familiar with the
- 00:25:42system so if you're not home and you got
- 00:25:44a babysitter there or someone else in
- 00:25:46the home that doesn't know how the
- 00:25:47system works this can be a little more
- 00:25:49complex for them but it is a cheaper way
- 00:25:51of doing it and that's the reason why
- 00:25:52most people go with a transfer switch
- 00:25:54like we've got here it does cost a
- 00:25:56little bit more but it makes the
- 00:25:57installation very easy it's very simple
- 00:25:59and carefree when you need to switch it
- 00:26:01over here at the top you have your
- 00:26:03switch which lets you select generator
- 00:26:05off or line the line is your utility
- 00:26:07voltage you have two meters here which
- 00:26:10allows you to monitor the wattage that
- 00:26:11you're putting out and then down below
- 00:26:13here we have selectable Breakers these
- 00:26:15Breakers protect the generator or the
- 00:26:18power station that is powering the load
- 00:26:20at that particular time otherwise the
- 00:26:22breaker that's in your main panel still
- 00:26:24controls the load that's hooked up to
- 00:26:26the breaker the transfer panel comes
- 00:26:27with a total of 6 15 amp Breakers
- 00:26:29however the wiring is 12 gauge wire so
- 00:26:32if you have a 20 amp circuit in the
- 00:26:34house you are able to switch these to 20
- 00:26:36amp circuits off to the left here we
- 00:26:38have two 240 volt Outlets which is a 20
- 00:26:42and a 30 then you'll need your cord for
- 00:26:44your power station on the other side
- 00:26:46here you have the l14 plug this is going
- 00:26:48to plug right into your outlet here it's
- 00:26:51going to only go one way you'll notice
- 00:26:52that there's an L shape there you want
- 00:26:54to find that L shape here on the panel
- 00:26:56you want to line that up and and plug it
- 00:26:58in once it's in all the way you twist
- 00:27:00just a touch and it's in place all right
- 00:27:02that's going to wrap up our testing
- 00:27:04there I'm going to give you my final
- 00:27:05opinions here on the device and what I
- 00:27:07think of it this is the first time I've
- 00:27:09ever did any testing for blue Edie I've
- 00:27:11always heard that they were pretty good
- 00:27:12equipment and I see that they are uh you
- 00:27:15know it's got some things about it that
- 00:27:16I haven't seen before like the rubber
- 00:27:18dust covers and stuff like that that's
- 00:27:19something that a lot of people kind of
- 00:27:21complain about and they just rip them
- 00:27:23off but I have mixed feelings on it I
- 00:27:25think as long as they're not in the way
- 00:27:26they're great it helps keep things out
- 00:27:28of it uh some of these connectors on the
- 00:27:30side here where they're actually screw
- 00:27:32on it's very military looking uh to keep
- 00:27:34the water out which is kind of
- 00:27:36interesting so I mean you've got a lot
- 00:27:37of money invested in this and so
- 00:27:39whatever it takes to make it last as
- 00:27:41long as possible I say go for it uh you
- 00:27:44know original thought when I looked at
- 00:27:45it it seemed like it was kind of big um
- 00:27:48but you know the more I see how it works
- 00:27:50and just the fact that even though this
- 00:27:51part on Top is actually pretty good size
- 00:27:54the 47 lbs makes it pretty easy to move
- 00:27:56around the the actual B battery that's
- 00:27:58kind of small and compact on the bottom
- 00:28:00is actually the heavier part even at 65
- 00:28:03lbs that's not too bad to I I've looked
- 00:28:05at some of the sale prices you can pick
- 00:28:07this thing up right now on the special
- 00:28:08pricing right now somewhere right around
- 00:28:10$15.99 with the battery and the actual
- 00:28:13ac300 up on top they do have units with
- 00:28:16the transfer switch panels so make sure
- 00:28:18you check out them links check out the
- 00:28:20products leave me a comment down below
- 00:28:22let me know what you think about the
- 00:28:24product let me know if there's something
- 00:28:25else that you'd like to seen done you
- 00:28:27know my channel generally is about
- 00:28:29heating air conditioning refrigeration
- 00:28:30and Generator repair so reviews is not
- 00:28:33just my main thing that I do it's just
- 00:28:34something I do because I think it's kind
- 00:28:36of fun to get involved with something a
