Zeitleiste

  • 00:00:00 - 00:05:00

Vervolgens, "Enotria: The Last Song" beskryf as 'n "Souls" soort speletjie met 'n Italiaanse folklore spin. "Dragon Age: Dreadwolf" word ook bespreek, met verwagtinge vir 2024 na jarelange ontwikkeling. "Mirthwood" is 'n iso-ometriese avontuur met oorlewingskomponente, en "Avowed" deur Obsidian verwag ook in laat 2024. "Pax Dei" en "No Rest for the Wicked" word opgemerk vir hul unieke benaderings tot Middeleeuse temas.

  • 00:10:00 - 00:19:54

"Kingmakers" neem 'n humoristiese benadering deur moderne elemente in Middeleeuse stryd te voeg, terwyl "Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC" groot verwagting vir sy uitbreiding in 2024 opwek.

  • 00:00:01
    - [Narrator] Knights, castles, swords, shields,
  • 00:00:04
    kings, queens, magic, mages, dragons,
  • 00:00:08
that's the type of stuff we're talking about today
  • 00:00:09
    because we're talking
  • 00:00:10
about 20 new and upcoming medieval games of 2024.
  • 00:00:14
Medieval, of course, can be pretty broad.
  • 00:00:16
    That's how we're treating it.
  • 00:00:17
It's not strictly a medieval time period,
  • 00:00:19
it's just games that have some of those specific elements.
  • 00:00:22
    And believe it or not,
  • 00:00:23
there's a lot of cool ones to talk about.
  • 00:00:24
We got 20 games, so let's get started off with number 20.
  • 00:00:28
    "Kin-strife" is an upcoming game
  • 00:00:29
    that's a medieval strategy RPG,
  • 00:00:32
but with the main hook being realistic physics simulations.
  • 00:00:37
As you can see onscreen here with the combat,
  • 00:00:39
    they're striving for realism
  • 00:00:40
with a bunch of different detailed levels of physics
  • 00:00:43
    to articulate character movement,
  • 00:00:45
the swing of swords, and realistic damage.
  • 00:00:48
And while it might look goofy to some people out there,
  • 00:00:51
this type of combat is actually something
  • 00:00:53
    that people really want.
  • 00:00:54
So "Kin-strife" isn't the first game
  • 00:00:56
to do this type of physics-based combat,
  • 00:00:59
but it is the first to implement it
  • 00:01:00
in a full medieval strategy RPG world,
  • 00:01:04
where you're gonna create your own character,
  • 00:01:06
you're gonna wander around, and explore towns,
  • 00:01:08
and go on quests to try and become a bigger knight,
  • 00:01:12
    or just general adventurer.
  • 00:01:13
    So while, at first glance,
  • 00:01:15
to some people it might seem goofy,
  • 00:01:17
this is something that a lot of people have been wanting
  • 00:01:19
    for a while.
  • 00:01:20
    It's also just non-linear single-player game
  • 00:01:23
    specifically set in 13th-century Germany.
  • 00:01:26
There's a lot of potential here, it's from a small studio.
  • 00:01:29
This is really the only thing we've seen
  • 00:01:30
    that they've worked on,
  • 00:01:31
but it's a lot of cool ideas.
  • 00:01:34
As of right now, "Kin-strife" is just slated as coming soon,
  • 00:01:36
but we're expecting to see more pretty soon.
  • 00:01:39
Next over at number 19, we have the "Quinfall,"
  • 00:01:41
which looks to be a pretty massive and ambitious MMORPG.
  • 00:01:46
    Absolutely vast worlds,
  • 00:01:48
a bunch of different types of characters
  • 00:01:49
    to really build out.
  • 00:01:50
We've seen knights, archers, rogue-type characters,
  • 00:01:53
    characters that do magic.
  • 00:01:55
Apparently, the game is going to have
  • 00:01:56
    dozens of different professions.
  • 00:01:59
And they're going for full medieval fantasy here,
  • 00:02:01
but covering a variety of different regions,
  • 00:02:03
    a lot of environmental variety,
  • 00:02:05
apparently taking advantage of RTX and ray tracing,
  • 00:02:08
ah, and it's apparently going have a full-featured story,
  • 00:02:11
as well as all the MMORPG elements.
  • 00:02:13
    So this is a lot.
  • 00:02:14
So while the developers are being somewhat transparent
  • 00:02:17
and showing off a lot of their updates on a YouTube channel,
  • 00:02:19
    on the other hand,
  • 00:02:21
there's a lot of speculation out there and disappointment
  • 00:02:23
that apparently, a lot of the game
  • 00:02:24
is just using Unreal Engine assets
  • 00:02:26
just thrown together in a game.
  • 00:02:28
So there is a lot of debate out there
  • 00:02:29
as to whether or not this game is gonna be good.
  • 00:02:31
We're gonna wait and judge the final release, of course,
  • 00:02:34
    but as of right now,
  • 00:02:35
we're probably gonna be seeing more
  • 00:02:36
    from the "Quinfall" this year.
  • 00:02:39
Next over number 18, we have "Project Awakening."
  • 00:02:41
This game was revealed on a PlayStation showcase
  • 00:02:43
    as a PS4 title in 2018,
  • 00:02:47
and then by like 2019, it kind of went dark.
  • 00:02:50
It is from Cygames who, more recently you may remember,
  • 00:02:53
    made "Granblue Fantasy Versus,"
  • 00:02:54
    but "Project Awakening"
  • 00:02:56
    just looked like something different.
  • 00:02:57
It was like a big, massive, medieval, fantasy-action RPG
  • 00:03:01
with potentially some really cool combat.
  • 00:03:03
    You playing as a knight,
  • 00:03:04
like killing these big dragon bosses,
  • 00:03:07
    almost kind of like
  • 00:03:07
more of an action combat-oriented "Dragon's Dogma,"
  • 00:03:11
like something a little bit more over the top.
  • 00:03:13
Unfortunately, they went quiet for a while with this game,
  • 00:03:16
and only just recently did the developers confirm
  • 00:03:19
that the game is still in the works
  • 00:03:21
    and that it still exists.
  • 00:03:22
This was thanks to some journalists spotting the game,
  • 00:03:24
confirmed it still being in the works
  • 00:03:26
    in the publisher's earnings call.
  • 00:03:28
So we had seen a little gameplay and a thing in 2021
  • 00:03:31
and we were expecting to see more from this one soon.
  • 00:03:33
We hope we do because it did look really sweet.
  • 00:03:36
Next over number 17, we got something totally different.
  • 00:03:38
    It's "Legendary Tales" in VR.
  • 00:03:41
This thing is just really cool
  • 00:03:43
if you're kind of like an old-school RPG fan.
  • 00:03:45
This has been an early access for a while
  • 00:03:47
and pretty known in the VR community,
  • 00:03:49
but now in 2024, it's gotten its full release,
  • 00:03:52
and it's kind of getting out there in more places.
  • 00:03:54
And essentially, the best way I can pitch it
  • 00:03:56
is something kind of like oblivion
  • 00:03:58
or like kind of like old-school elder scrolls,
  • 00:04:01
    but in VR.
  • 00:04:02
The graphics are kind of lo-fi,
  • 00:04:03
but they have this really charming appeal to them
  • 00:04:05
and you can kind of live out your knight fantasy here.
  • 00:04:08
There are a lot of games
  • 00:04:09
that have given you a sword and a shield
  • 00:04:11
and let you go crazy in medieval fantasy,
  • 00:04:13
    but I just think
  • 00:04:14
the way that "Legendary Tales" goes about it,
  • 00:04:17
you know, the vibe, the tone to it all,
  • 00:04:19
    is really, really unique.
  • 00:04:20
    To be totally frank,
  • 00:04:21
I don't think Gameranx talks about VR as much as it should,
  • 00:04:24
so that's why I'm mentioning this.
  • 00:04:27
Next over at number 16, we have "The Awakener: Risen."
  • 00:04:30
Now, get past the generic title,
  • 00:04:31
and you realize that this game
  • 00:04:33
is essentially an open-world action RPG
  • 00:04:35
set in a medieval Europe, but with a fantasy spin.
  • 00:04:39
And we're bringing this one up
  • 00:04:40
because it has been in the works for a while.
  • 00:04:41
It seems like 2024 is the year where it's going to release,
  • 00:04:44
and a lot of people have kind of dunked on the game
  • 00:04:47
by saying it's a ripoff of "Dragon's Dogma."
  • 00:04:49
And yes, from some of the gameplay, you can argue that,
  • 00:04:52
but the game has its own thing going on.
  • 00:04:54
A little bit of a different style,
  • 00:04:55
    some really cool enemy types,
  • 00:04:57
and we're hoping something good can come from this.
  • 00:04:59
And you know what, if it does really turn out to feel
  • 00:05:01
    like a "Dragon's Dogma 2" ripoff,
  • 00:05:03
hell, there are some people out there
  • 00:05:04
that just want more "Dragon's Dogma 2,"
  • 00:05:06
so you could possibly get it with "The Awakener: Risen."
  • 00:05:08
    We won't know for sure
  • 00:05:09
until we actually get our hands on it, but yeah.
  • 00:05:12
Next over number 15, we have "Enotria: The Last Song."
  • 00:05:16
I mean, in the last couple of years,
  • 00:05:17
it's worth acknowledging that there has been a deluge
  • 00:05:20
of games inspired by FromSoftware's work
  • 00:05:23
    with the "Dark Souls" games,
  • 00:05:24
a lot of games kind of using that formula or that sub-genre
  • 00:05:27
and doing their own spin on it.
  • 00:05:29
And "Enotria: The Last Song" is totally down with that.
  • 00:05:32
It is billed 100% by them as a "Souls" like,
  • 00:05:35
but this is centered around Italian folklore,
  • 00:05:38
so it kind of seems like you're playing
  • 00:05:39
as these badass medieval Italian swordsmen,
  • 00:05:42
but like with a big fantasy spin on it,
  • 00:05:45
like over-the-top weird creepy bosses and enemy types.
  • 00:05:49
And just from the style alone
  • 00:05:50
and the types of characters on screen and the environments,
  • 00:05:53
this game does look pretty unique.
  • 00:05:55
The game development studio is actually from Italy.
  • 00:05:57
They've worked on a couple of games before,
  • 00:05:59
but none of them really hit the mainstream, so to speak.
  • 00:06:01
And this is definitely their biggest project by far,
  • 00:06:04
and we're really looking forward to seeing more of it.
  • 00:06:06
    As of right now,
  • 00:06:07
it has a release date slated for August 21st, 2024.
  • 00:06:11
Next over at number 14, we're gonna mention it.
  • 00:06:13
We've mentioned it in a lot of lists.
  • 00:06:14
    It's "Dragon Age: Dreadwolf."
  • 00:06:16
EA and BioWare have been working on this one
  • 00:06:18
for a long, long time now,
  • 00:06:21
and we're really hoping, and kind of speculating,
  • 00:06:23
that 2024 is a year where we see it.
  • 00:06:26
It's been teased in the past, we've gotten little things.
  • 00:06:28
You know, we've gotten the title,
  • 00:06:29
    we've gotten little cinematics,
  • 00:06:31
    but nothing really substantial.
  • 00:06:33
And they've been working on this thing for so long
  • 00:06:35
"Dragon Age" fans are really chomping at the bit.
  • 00:06:37
And like elephant in the room,
  • 00:06:38
there's obviously some huge potential here
  • 00:06:41
for BioWare to win back some fans.
  • 00:06:43
I don't know if you know this,
  • 00:06:44
but they've had some issues with the last couple of games,
  • 00:06:46
so this could essentially be their return to glory
  • 00:06:49
    or another big misstep.
  • 00:06:50
    We don't know for sure
  • 00:06:51
just because we haven't seen anything,
  • 00:06:53
but we think 2024 might be the year, at least we hope.
  • 00:06:57
Next over number 13, here's something a little different.
  • 00:06:59
It's called "Mirthwood." Check this out.
  • 00:07:01
This is like an isometric adventure
  • 00:07:03
    in a medieval fantasy world
  • 00:07:05
where you create your own character,
  • 00:07:07
you kind of pick your character archetype,
  • 00:07:09
and you go out in the world and adventure.
  • 00:07:11
Seems like there's some survival elements.
  • 00:07:12
    You're hunting, you're crafting,
  • 00:07:14
    but you're also fighting enemies,
  • 00:07:16
    getting quests from villagers,
  • 00:07:17
and just the art style and everything about it is different.
  • 00:07:20
    It's refreshing.
  • 00:07:21
We played so many gritty, realistic,
  • 00:07:23
awesome medieval battle simulators and stuff like that.
  • 00:07:26
Sometimes, I like a little bit more of an old-school,
  • 00:07:28
    top-down RPG adventure.
  • 00:07:30
And this one with the medieval fantasy vibes
  • 00:07:32
seems like it could scratch a perfect itch.
  • 00:07:35
As of right now, this is slated for third quarter of 2024,
  • 00:07:39
and we can't wait to see more.
  • 00:07:41
Next over at number 12, we have "Avowed,"
  • 00:07:43
this is Obsidian's next big game.
  • 00:07:45
    Obsidian, of course,
  • 00:07:46
the maker of legendary RPGs like "Fallout: New Vegas."
  • 00:07:50
This is their big collaboration with Xbox Game Studios
  • 00:07:53
    who now owns them.
  • 00:07:55
"Avowed" actually takes place in the same universe
  • 00:07:58
as their "Pillars of Eternity" games,
  • 00:08:00
but this is a different style of games.
  • 00:08:02
Some people are gonna be calling it, of course,
  • 00:08:04
like Obsidian's "Skyrim," but it looks a little different.
  • 00:08:08
It's first-person combat with some flexibility there.
  • 00:08:11
But the world, the setting, the art style,
  • 00:08:14
all of it just seems distinctly different.
  • 00:08:16
You're gonna be swinging swords, slinging spells,
  • 00:08:19
    and fighting monsters.
  • 00:08:20
And at this point, Obsidian is pretty good at that.
  • 00:08:23
This one, we still need to see more, honestly,
  • 00:08:26
because the few bits of gameplay they did show off,
  • 00:08:28
    it wasn't enough.
  • 00:08:29
It's hard to really judge the game yet,
  • 00:08:30
but we do have some faith in Obsidian.
  • 00:08:32
They've made some really cool games in the past,
  • 00:08:34
    and this one is slated
  • 00:08:36
for third quarter, fourth quarter 2024.
  • 00:08:40
Next over at number 11, we have "Pax Dei."
  • 00:08:42
This is a social sandbox MMO
  • 00:08:45
    that is heavily medieval-oriented,
  • 00:08:47
and it has a lot of potential.
  • 00:08:49
I mean, just looking at it, it seems cool.
  • 00:08:51
It seems like it's really going
  • 00:08:53
for actually replicating that medieval look and feel.
  • 00:08:57
There are some fantastical elements, sure,
  • 00:08:59
but mostly it's you living in this world,
  • 00:09:03
worrying about your village, taking care of your clan,
  • 00:09:06
    making decisions,
  • 00:09:06
actually living life possibly with other players,
  • 00:09:09
and then going out and adventuring,
  • 00:09:11
where the further you go away from the heartland,
  • 00:09:14
the more dangerous the world gets.
  • 00:09:16
    You create your own character
  • 00:09:17
and you go out in this world
  • 00:09:18
    that looks, frankly, pretty gorgeous.
  • 00:09:20
Just recently at the time of making this video,
  • 00:09:22
there was an alpha play test
  • 00:09:24
and some of the early responses are pretty good.
  • 00:09:26
    There's some gameplay out there,
  • 00:09:28
you get to see how vast the world is,
  • 00:09:29
how the combat kind of works,
  • 00:09:31
and we really think this one has potential.
  • 00:09:33
Apparently, it is going to be entering early access
  • 00:09:35
    at some point in 2024,
  • 00:09:37
so you can check it out for yourself.
  • 00:09:39
Next over at number 10, we have "No Rest for the Wicked,"
  • 00:09:42
the newest game from the people
  • 00:09:43
behind "Ori and the Blind Forest"
  • 00:09:45
and "Ori and the Will of the Wisps,"
  • 00:09:47
but "No Rest for the Wicked" is a very different game.
  • 00:09:50
    It's a top-down medieval fantasy, adventure, RPG,
  • 00:09:55
kind of in the vein of like a "Diablo,"
  • 00:09:57
but very much its own thing with a focus on storytelling,
  • 00:10:01
    adventuring, and exploration,
  • 00:10:03
and just a beautiful, gorgeous, unique art style.
  • 00:10:06
We did make a video on this game,
  • 00:10:07
and it being an early access, it does have flaws.
  • 00:10:10
Also, it's not the complete game yet.
  • 00:10:12
    But the developers
  • 00:10:13
have very much been working on it constantly,
  • 00:10:15
    adding updates,
  • 00:10:16
and it absolutely has a ton of potential.
  • 00:10:19
The foundations make for an awesome game
  • 00:10:21
that I'm already really, really enjoying.
  • 00:10:23
And when they really perfect everything for a full release,
  • 00:10:26
I think this is gonna be a contender
  • 00:10:27
    for just a kick game.
  • 00:10:29
"No Rest for the Wicked" has fun combat,
  • 00:10:32
a really good sense of atmosphere and exploration.
  • 00:10:35
It's got some good gore and violence
  • 00:10:37
and just a unique mythical fantasy world
  • 00:10:40
that's unlike any other I've seen in a game.
  • 00:10:42
    So that's definitely worth something.
  • 00:10:44
    Like I said right now,
  • 00:10:45
it is available on early access on PC,
  • 00:10:47
but eventually you're gonna be able
  • 00:10:48
to play it on consoles too with the full release.
  • 00:10:52
Next over at number nine, we have "Kingmakers."
  • 00:10:54
    This game is...
  • 00:10:56
This is awesome, I love this idea.
  • 00:10:58
I don't know if this counts as a medieval game,
  • 00:10:59
but damn it, you know what?
  • 00:11:00
    I think it does.
  • 00:11:01
Essentially, it's a medieval battle simulator,
  • 00:11:03
    kinda like RPG thing,
  • 00:11:05
but your character can utilize stuff from the 21st century.
  • 00:11:08
Yes, this game, if you're online a lot,
  • 00:11:10
you have seen the trailer for this,
  • 00:11:12
where there's a medieval battle going on
  • 00:11:14
    with tons of enemy forces,
  • 00:11:15
and suddenly a guy in a pickup truck shows up,
  • 00:11:18
runs everybody over, gets out of the car,
  • 00:11:20
and shoots everybody with a gun.
  • 00:11:22
    Yes, that's this game.
  • 00:11:23
And we think that's a really creative and fun idea
  • 00:11:26
and we need more of those.
  • 00:11:27
And "Kingmakers" isn't like just a meme,
  • 00:11:30
like it's not just a viral moment.
  • 00:11:31
It seems like it's got actual action strategy
  • 00:11:34
    sandbox elements to it,
  • 00:11:36
as well as like a whole element of building up your kingdom,
  • 00:11:39
    doing all that,
  • 00:11:40
and then setting out to battle
  • 00:11:42
with planning where trebuchet go, where forces go, all that.
  • 00:11:45
Then, you get to run in with a gun and have some fun.
  • 00:11:48
It could potentially be a really good mix of genres
  • 00:11:50
and really just a good send up.
  • 00:11:51
    It's being published by tinyBuild,
  • 00:11:53
and they would know what they're doing,
  • 00:11:54
and this is releasing sometime in 2024.
  • 00:11:58
    Next up at number eight,
  • 00:11:59
we have the "Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC."
  • 00:12:02
Yeah, "Elden Ring" isn't quite medieval,
  • 00:12:04
but like the year "Elden Ring" came out,
  • 00:12:06
we cheated on that medieval games list too,
  • 00:12:08
because you know what, there's swords, horses, shields,
  • 00:12:12
a lot of castles, so it counts for something.
  • 00:12:14
    And "Shadow of the Erdtree"
  • 00:12:16
is one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
  • 00:12:19
    That's crazy.
  • 00:12:20
It's also just a DLC or expansion for a game,
  • 00:12:23
    but it's "Elden Ring,"
  • 00:12:24
one of the biggest games to hit in the last couple of years.
  • 00:12:27
So this is apparently going to be the biggest thing
  • 00:12:30
    since sliced bread.
  • 00:12:31
FromSoftware has been working on it for a while now.
  • 00:12:34
We don't know too much about it,
  • 00:12:35
other than a trailer that showed some new abilities,
  • 00:12:38
    some new bosses,
  • 00:12:39
a new area which Miyazaki, series creator,
  • 00:12:42
has said that is roughly the size of Limgrave
  • 00:12:45
    from the original game.
  • 00:12:46
So you have some perspective there,
  • 00:12:47
but we're just really excited to see
  • 00:12:49
what can go down with this one
  • 00:12:50
because FromSoftware does a really, really good job
  • 00:12:53
with their DLCs in the past.
  • 00:12:55
So we're really excited to see
  • 00:12:57
like what the next chapter of "Elden Ring" can really be
  • 00:13:00
because that alone, just that phrase, is really exciting us.
  • 00:13:05
    All I gotta know now
  • 00:13:05
is that it is releasing June 20th, 2024.
  • 00:13:09
Next over at number seven, we have "Chrono Odyssey,"
  • 00:13:12
a game that's been in the works for a while,
  • 00:13:14
and frankly it doesn't have a release date,
  • 00:13:16
    but it looks absolutely awesome.
  • 00:13:18
    We've seen knights on horseback
  • 00:13:20
    running from monstrous dragons,
  • 00:13:22
you playing as kind of like a knight in shining armor
  • 00:13:25
with sword and shield, witches, mages,
  • 00:13:28
all of this going down almost as like MMORPG raids
  • 00:13:32
because the game is an MMORPG specifically for PS5.
  • 00:13:36
    It's been heavily featured
  • 00:13:37
    on the PlayStation YouTube channel
  • 00:13:39
    and some gameplay trailers,
  • 00:13:40
and there's gotta be something to this one.
  • 00:13:42
The world looks absolutely massive and gorgeous.
  • 00:13:45
There is like five enemy factions in the game
  • 00:13:48
and the Unreal Engine graphics are really working here.
  • 00:13:50
Again, this is another ambitious one,
  • 00:13:52
frankly, I think at this point,
  • 00:13:54
high-powered, big-budget graphics, MMORPGs just tend to be.
  • 00:13:57
We haven't really seen many pop off,
  • 00:13:59
but "Chrono Odyssey" is gonna give it a shot,
  • 00:14:01
and it seems like it's releasing in 2024.
  • 00:14:05
Now, next over at number six,
  • 00:14:06
we have the "Gothic 1 Remake."
  • 00:14:09
The original "Gothic" is getting the remake treatment
  • 00:14:11
and it's been in the works for a minute now,
  • 00:14:14
and I think this is the type of game
  • 00:14:15
like it's like just what the doctor ordered.
  • 00:14:17
Look, if there's no new "Elder Scrolls"
  • 00:14:19
or really any other like old-school
  • 00:14:21
kind of PC RPG coming out soon,
  • 00:14:23
"Gothic" ideally can scratch a certain itch for some people.
  • 00:14:27
It's being completely remade in Unreal Engine 5,
  • 00:14:29
    it's looking absolutely gorgeous,
  • 00:14:31
and hopefully a really good spin
  • 00:14:33
on the classic medieval fantasy RPG.
  • 00:14:36
    And I mean it's a tough remake
  • 00:14:37
because the original was from 2001,
  • 00:14:39
but PC fans really loved it.
  • 00:14:42
The original really had that old-school PC5 to it,
  • 00:14:45
but the new remake is coming not only to PC
  • 00:14:47
but also PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
  • 00:14:50
And it's slated as of right now for the second half of 2024.
  • 00:14:55
Next over at number five, we have "Blight: Survival."
  • 00:14:58
This one was announced a few years back
  • 00:14:59
and it made a splash thanks to its stunning visuals.
  • 00:15:03
A lone knight wandering through a plague-ridden landscape
  • 00:15:07
    slaying zombies.
  • 00:15:09
    Absolutely stunning graphics, good, chunky,
  • 00:15:11
    almost realistic weighty combat,
  • 00:15:14
and people were just into that, man.
  • 00:15:16
    But believe it or not,
  • 00:15:17
this game is more than just an adventure.
  • 00:15:19
Apparently, it is going to have a story,
  • 00:15:20
but it's actually a medieval co-op extraction game,
  • 00:15:24
so you're gonna be playing this with other people.
  • 00:15:26
    This isn't just like a single-player adventure.
  • 00:15:28
Some people want that, some people don't.
  • 00:15:30
    But I think either way,
  • 00:15:31
    some of the zombie killing
  • 00:15:33
and just like the atmosphere and tone here
  • 00:15:35
    looks really frankly incredible.
  • 00:15:37
The fact that it seems like it might kind of have
  • 00:15:38
some survival horror elements to it too
  • 00:15:40
    really have us excited.
  • 00:15:41
We haven't heard much from this one recently,
  • 00:15:43
but we're hoping it comes back in full force in 2024.
  • 00:15:45
I had to talk about this one 'cause it's cool.
  • 00:15:49
    Next over at number four,
  • 00:15:50
we have "Senua's Saga: Hellblade II."
  • 00:15:52
This is continuing the story of the original game,
  • 00:15:55
featuring a woman suffering from psychosis,
  • 00:15:57
    but now adventuring to Iceland
  • 00:15:59
and engaging in battles with giants, men,
  • 00:16:02
and all kinds of weird crazy stuff.
  • 00:16:05
    Visually and tonally,
  • 00:16:06
I'll say with the original "Hellblade" and this one,
  • 00:16:08
there's nothing else out there quite like this.
  • 00:16:11
We've seen this type of style or vibe in films,
  • 00:16:14
    but not in a game
  • 00:16:16
and that's why I think the "Hellblade" games are special.
  • 00:16:18
I really hope the second one
  • 00:16:20
can really continue the momentum of the first,
  • 00:16:22
kind of expand on the combat and stuff
  • 00:16:23
because this adventure does look really cool, and gritty,
  • 00:16:27
    and frankly kind of scary.
  • 00:16:29
Thankfully, we'll be able to check it out soon.
  • 00:16:30
We don't have to wait too much longer
  • 00:16:32
    because it's releasing May 21st, 2024.
  • 00:16:36
Next down at number three we have "Dragon's Dogma 2."
  • 00:16:38
This is one of the big RPG releases of the year,
  • 00:16:41
and it seems like "Dragon's Dogma" fans
  • 00:16:43
    are absolutely loving it.
  • 00:16:45
Capcom knew what they were doing here.
  • 00:16:46
This game is a niche cult-favorite, so they gave us more.
  • 00:16:50
    They didn't reinvent the wheel,
  • 00:16:52
    they made a sequel
  • 00:16:53
and carried those elements and those ideas,
  • 00:16:55
and tried to flush them out
  • 00:16:56
and make them better in a 2024 package.
  • 00:16:59
    The game absolutely has flaws,
  • 00:17:00
but it also has a ton of charm
  • 00:17:02
and a bunch of content to play through
  • 00:17:05
in a really unique world with fun combat
  • 00:17:07
and character building and companion system.
  • 00:17:09
There really aren't any other RPGs
  • 00:17:11
like "Dragon's Dogma," and now 2,
  • 00:17:13
and I'm really curious to see
  • 00:17:14
how these games influence game development moving forward.
  • 00:17:17
Are we gonna see other games
  • 00:17:18
really try and do a "Dragon's Dogma" type thing?
  • 00:17:21
    We mentioned a game previously,
  • 00:17:22
    but I don't know, there's something about "Dragon's Dogma 2"
  • 00:17:25
and the development team behind it.
  • 00:17:26
Like, maybe it's just their magic,
  • 00:17:28
it's something that you can't quite replicate.
  • 00:17:31
    So "Dragon's Dogma 2"
  • 00:17:32
is definitely something you should consider looking into
  • 00:17:34
    if you haven't already.
  • 00:17:36
Next down at number two, we have "Manor Lords."
  • 00:17:39
This just released an early access for PC,
  • 00:17:41
and this is just a really cool idea for a game.
  • 00:17:44
It's being developed by a very small team
  • 00:17:46
and it's a medieval strategy game
  • 00:17:48
that is actually all around city building.
  • 00:17:51
So while you are a person walking around
  • 00:17:53
and you can do like the big, large-scale siege,
  • 00:17:56
    tactical battles that you've seen
  • 00:17:57
in a lot of other medieval games,
  • 00:17:58
there's also a lot of city building elements to this
  • 00:18:01
that just make it seem a bit more compelling.
  • 00:18:04
    Farms, houses, wells, roads, commerce,
  • 00:18:07
all that stuff that city builders really love is here,
  • 00:18:10
with all the medieval battling stuff, too.
  • 00:18:12
Falcon did the before you buy on this one
  • 00:18:14
and came away really liking it.
  • 00:18:15
It's got a lot of good elements.
  • 00:18:17
    It is an early access,
  • 00:18:18
so there's some stuff it really needs to work out.
  • 00:18:20
But in terms of the idea, the strategy,
  • 00:18:23
medieval city builder kind of simulation hybrid,
  • 00:18:26
it really, really does a good job
  • 00:18:28
    making good on those promises.
  • 00:18:31
Now, finally down at number one,
  • 00:18:32
we have "Kingdom Come: Deliverance II."
  • 00:18:34
This is the follow up to "Kingdom Come: Deliverance,"
  • 00:18:36
a game that had a cult following for a reason.
  • 00:18:39
It launched kind of in a rough state,
  • 00:18:40
but turned out to be a really, really unique experience
  • 00:18:43
    centered around realism
  • 00:18:45
and some solid survival and simulation elements
  • 00:18:48
in a package that just really emphasized realism
  • 00:18:51
and storytelling in war-torn medieval Europe
  • 00:18:54
and the journey of the hero, essentially.
  • 00:18:56
    And with the second game,
  • 00:18:57
you are continuing the footsteps of that hero, Henry.
  • 00:19:01
The game that looks like it has a lot more action,
  • 00:19:03
a lot more combat, a more advanced main character,
  • 00:19:06
    and the story just continuing.
  • 00:19:08
    Warhorse absolutely crushed it
  • 00:19:10
    with "Kingdom Come: Deliverance"
  • 00:19:11
not only just like the game, but also the long-term support.
  • 00:19:14
    So "Kingdom Come: Deliverance II,"
  • 00:19:16
now with a bigger budget and more time
  • 00:19:17
just has the potential to be a huge success
  • 00:19:21
    and a really cool game.
  • 00:19:22
    Thankfully, even though this game
  • 00:19:24
was just announced not too long ago,
  • 00:19:25
