00:00:07
[Music]
00:00:25
hey guys my name is Joel sorgi and it's
00:00:28
great to be with you again um I'm going
00:00:31
to be picking up where I left off in our
00:00:32
last Matthew 24:14 session together so
00:00:36
if you haven't watched that and you want
00:00:37
to get a little more context and kind of
00:00:39
add a little more color to the things
00:00:40
I'm going to be going into here in this
00:00:42
session uh go ahead and hit pause and
00:00:44
you can go find it on our YouTube
00:00:46
channel or on the app wherever you're
00:00:48
watching It's called The neglected
00:00:50
Cornerstone and it kind of lays a
00:00:52
framework that will make a little bit
00:00:54
more sense of this um I don't want to
00:00:57
spend too much time reviewing but at the
00:00:59
end of the day what that session was
00:01:01
really about was obeying the commands of
00:01:03
Christ this whole series is about the
00:01:05
proclamation of the Gospel that uh Jesus
00:01:08
tells us in Matthew 24:14 that hey when
00:01:11
this is preached in all the Earth then
00:01:12
the end will come and in Matthew
00:01:15
28:18 he adds a little more color to
00:01:18
that and defines what it really means to
00:01:20
preach the gospel and he says Go Make
00:01:23
Disciples of all the nations baptizing
00:01:25
them in the name of the father Son and
00:01:27
Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all
00:01:30
that I've commanded you and so this is
00:01:33
really about the commands of Christ it
00:01:35
is the litmus test for us as Believers
00:01:37
it is the measure of our Fidelity and of
00:01:39
our loyalty to him and so last week we
00:01:43
kind of were in the abstract we were
00:01:45
speaking a little more conceptually and
00:01:47
broadly and uh in this session I want to
00:01:50
get a little more zeroed in in Practical
00:01:53
and there when it comes to obeying the
00:01:56
commands of Christ there's so many there
00:01:58
there there's so don't mean that in a
00:02:00
negative way like oh there's so many
00:02:02
commands we have to obey um I'm just
00:02:05
saying you know where do you start um
00:02:08
and I figured what better place than
00:02:11
with our appetites what better place
00:02:13
than with gluttony and I know that seems
00:02:15
a little weird and a little strange but
00:02:17
hopefully you'll stick in there with me
00:02:18
and uh and stick it out here and and
00:02:21
this will make sense to you too um but
00:02:25
the reason I'm talking about gluttony in
00:02:27
this session is because it's the
00:02:29
antithetical expression of self-control
00:02:31
which is a fruit of the spirit and
00:02:34
naturally the fruit of the spirit is
00:02:36
something that comes from the spirit
00:02:38
it's the evidence of the holy spirit's
00:02:41
work in us as Believers and so if if
00:02:43
we're Believers if we're following
00:02:45
Christ and we Proclaim him as our Lord
00:02:47
then we ought to have the fruit of the
00:02:49
spirit visibly displayed and exercised
00:02:52
in our lives and so uh the reason I'm
00:02:55
I'm jumping on this one it's a little
00:02:57
obscure and it's it's a little it's a
00:02:58
little weird to to to come after a topic
00:03:01
like this but I feel like this I feel
00:03:03
like it's poignant for where we're at
00:03:04
and and uh hopefully you'll be open to
00:03:07
hearing what I have to say about it so
00:03:09
I'm going to pray and then I'm going to
00:03:11
jump in and um just to give you a little
00:03:14
warning uh last week I just turned the
00:03:16
camera on and talked and this week uh as
00:03:20
I was kind of thinking about this
00:03:22
session and praying and journaling um my
00:03:25
journal just kind of became a long kind
00:03:28
of just like an essay
00:03:30
and there's a lot to cover and a lot of
00:03:32
stuff I really want to make a point of
00:03:35
that I'm afraid my ADHD mind will not
00:03:37
stay on track if I'm just trying to go
00:03:39
off bullet point notes or memory so uh
00:03:42
this is going to be a little bit
00:03:43
different speed today it's going to be
00:03:44
more like Story Time with Joel I'm just
00:03:46
going to read you my journal entry um I
00:03:49
did a little bit of editing for your
00:03:51
sake so it's so it's uh hearable and
00:03:54
discernable uh but uh I may interject a
00:03:58
few things uh in between some of these
00:04:00
paragraphs uh and then we'll we'll kind
00:04:03
of wrap things up there after I'm done
00:04:05
and and yeah that's it so uh I'm going
00:04:08
to pray and then we'll Jump Right In
00:04:11
Lord I Thank you for this opportunity I
00:04:14
thank you that we get to examine your
00:04:16
word and then we get to open ourselves
00:04:18
up and have it examine us God I ask that
00:04:22
you would plant a good seed in the soil
00:04:25
of our hearts today that you would cause
00:04:27
your word to flourish within us
00:04:30
and that we would be responsive to what
00:04:32
your holy spirit is saying to each and
00:04:35
every one of us in the name of Jesus
00:04:40
Amen do not be deceived God is Not
00:04:44
mocked for whatever one SWS that will he
00:04:48
also reap for the one who SWS to his own
00:04:52
flesh Will from The Flesh reap
00:04:54
corruption but the one who SWS to the
00:04:57
spirit will from the spirit
00:05:00
reap eternal life and let us not grow
00:05:03
weary in doing good for in due season we
00:05:06
will reap if we do not give
00:05:10
up Galatians 6
00:05:14
7-9 each of us will reap the full
00:05:17
measure of what we've sown for those who
00:05:20
reject Christ the wages of sin is death
00:05:23
for the penitent the wages of obedience
00:05:26
to Jesus is eternal life
00:05:29
Paul is clear in Galatians 6 to believe
00:05:32
otherwise is not only deceit but active
00:05:35
mockery of God when a seed is sewn and
00:05:39
watered it takes root and when the seed
00:05:42
of the Gospel takes root in our heart it
00:05:45
grows and bears Godly fruit if it's
00:05:48
uprooted unfed or neglected in any way
00:05:51
it either produces bad fruit or none at
00:05:54
all Galatians 5:1 19-24 says now the
00:05:59
works of the flesh are evident sexual
00:06:01
immorality impurity sensuality idolatry
00:06:06
sorcery enmity Strife jealousy fits of
00:06:09
anger rivalries dissensions divisions
00:06:13
Envy drunkenness orgies and and things
00:06:17
like
00:06:18
these I warn you as I warned you before
00:06:22
that those who do such things will not
00:06:24
inherit the kingdom of God but the fruit
00:06:27
of the spirit is love joy peace patience
00:06:32
kindness goodness faithfulness
00:06:35
gentleness and
00:06:37
self-control against such things there
00:06:39
is no law and those who belong to Christ
00:06:42
Jesus have crucified the flesh with its
00:06:44
passions and
00:06:46
desires the fruit of the spirit is the
00:06:49
evidence of Christian
00:06:50
maturity and Christian maturity is the
00:06:53
evidence of obedience to God while not
00:06:56
all the fruits of this Spirit mature in
00:06:58
our lives at the same rate their
00:07:00
presence in the life of a sincere
00:07:02
believer is required you cannot exercise
00:07:05
one while neglecting the others without
00:07:07
suffering diminishment in them all while
00:07:10
some of the fruits of the spirit are
00:07:11
visible in the western church today some
00:07:14
of them have all but
00:07:16
disappeared our obedience and desire
00:07:19
have become selective and we are
00:07:21
suffering devastating consequences as a
00:07:24
result of our
00:07:25
neglect perhaps one of the most Gravely
00:07:28
neglected fruits of the spirit in the
00:07:29
church today is
00:07:31
self-control the presence or absence of
00:07:34
self-control reveals the same exact
00:07:36
thing about every one of us the true
00:07:39
desire of our
00:07:40
hearts James 1:1 14-16 says but each one
00:07:45
is tempted when he is drawn away by his
00:07:47
own desires and enticed then when desire
00:07:51
has conceived it gives birth to sin and
00:07:55
sin when it is fully grown brings forth
00:07:57
death
00:07:59
when sinful desire takes root in the
00:08:01
heart the Fulfillment of that desire
00:08:03
becomes our ultimate
00:08:05
Pursuit over time it grows and matures
00:08:08
eventually claiming preeminence in our
00:08:11
lives the dosage of Narcotics required
00:08:14
to get someone high in year one of their
00:08:16
addiction is not the same dosage that
00:08:18
will be required 5 years later in order
00:08:21
for the drug addict to satiate their
00:08:24
desire restraint must be cast off in
00:08:27
favor of overc consumption
00:08:30
in the end any fleshly desire becomes
00:08:33
like
00:08:34
saltwater the more you consume the more
00:08:37
you thirst and the more you thirst the
00:08:40
more you
00:08:42
consume self-control is the evidence of
00:08:45
God's lordship in your life gluttony is
00:08:48
the evidence of your own claim to
00:08:50
lordship over your life the common
00:08:53
understanding of gluttony is overc
00:08:55
consumption of food but the New Oxford
00:08:57
American Dictionary also defines
00:08:59
gluttony as habitual greed 1 Corinthians
00:09:03
6:9-11 says or do you not know that the
00:09:07
unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom
00:09:08
of God do not be deceived neither the
00:09:12
sexually immoral nor idolators nor
00:09:16
adulterers nor men who practice
00:09:18
homosexuality nor thieves nor the greedy
00:09:22
nor drunkards nor revilers nor swindlers
00:09:25
will inherit the kingdom of God and such
00:09:28
were some of you
00:09:29
but you were washed you were Sanctified
00:09:33
you were justified in the name of the
00:09:35
Lord Jesus Christ and by the spirit of
00:09:37
our
00:09:39
God Philippians 3:1 18-19 says for many
00:09:44
walk as enemies of the Cross of Christ
00:09:47
their end is destruction their God is
00:09:50
their belly and their glory is in their
00:09:53
shame with Minds set on Earthly
00:09:57
things greed is a manifestation of
00:10:00
gluttony and gluttony is the diametric
00:10:03
opposite of
00:10:05
self-control according to scripture if
00:10:08
you're greedy you will not inherit the
00:10:10
kingdom of God and if your God is your
00:10:13
belly you are an enemy of the
00:10:16
Cross it's easy to identify certain
00:10:19
forms of gluttony habitual overeating
00:10:22
which leads to obesity disease death
00:10:25
alcoholism and drug addiction which lead
00:10:27
not only to a Litany of health issues
00:10:29
and premature death but also destroy
00:10:31
relationships and potential achievements
00:10:34
workaholism pornography social media etc
00:10:37
etc etc the list goes on all of these
00:10:41
obvious vices are serious and we must
00:10:43
address them headon with humility Grace
00:10:46
conviction courage Clarity wisdom and
00:10:50
steadfastness but these are not the only
00:10:52
enemies of
00:10:53
self-control and gluttony doesn't
00:10:55
manifest exclusively in our physical
00:10:57
vices our spiritual appetites and greed
00:11:00
have given birth to things that we not
00:11:03
only tolerate in church but actively
00:11:06
celebrate things that may have started
00:11:08
as innocent aspirations intended for
00:11:10
good have matured into man-made
00:11:13
Ambitions whose fruit is at odds with
00:11:16
the fruit of the spirit our hunger for
00:11:19
Effectiveness and desire for impact have
00:11:21
given birth to the industry of
00:11:25
ministry it's not wrong to set goals and
00:11:27
cast a vision it's not wrong to work
00:11:30
hard and be excellent thinking
00:11:32
creatively and utilizing Innovation for
00:11:34
the sake of the kingdom is a good and
00:11:36
needed thing but when Good Things become
00:11:39
God things we lose our way when we let
00:11:42
the medium or cultural climate dictate
00:11:45
the clarity of our message we leave the
00:11:47
door cracked open for
00:11:50
apostasy for
00:11:53
example the church's sincere desire to
00:11:56
evangelize the lost and minister to
00:11:58
those in our community communities gave
00:12:00
birth to a consumer-driven model of
00:12:02
ministry and this was primarily in the
00:12:05
the 80s and 90s we really saw the secr
00:12:07
sensitive movement explode and in order
00:12:10
to sustain the fruit of that model we
00:12:13
have turned churches into organizations
00:12:15
led by CEOs instead of flocks led by
00:12:19
Shepherds we did this because we thought
00:12:21
it would be a good idea to make Church
00:12:22
approachable for Seekers we wanted to
00:12:25
make it entertaining for attendees we
00:12:28
wanted to make it comfortable for the
00:12:31
world and we've succeeded at a
00:12:35
cost instead of cultivating mature
00:12:38
Believers healthy families and faithful
00:12:40
Witnesses we've created donors members
00:12:44
shareholders and constituents our
00:12:47
appetite for numerical growth has left
00:12:49
no room for our god-given responsibility
00:12:52
to cultivate mature
00:12:54
Believers it's impossible to preach the
00:12:56
truth without prejudice when it
00:12:58
conflicts with organizational
00:13:01
interests another
00:13:04
example the church's sincere desire for
00:13:07
greater impact gave birth to the
00:13:09
prioritization of influence and reach we
00:13:12
focused on reach and influence because
00:13:15
we deduced that if there were more
00:13:17
eyeballs on us our Ministries would be
00:13:19
more
00:13:21
effective but instead of standing as
00:13:23
faithful witnesses to the world we
00:13:25
became more like it when you mistake
00:13:28
celebrity and popularity for Godly
00:13:30
influence and spiritual Effectiveness
00:13:32
it's proof that the praise and approval
00:13:35
of man is more precious to you than the
00:13:38
acceptance of God when the desire for
00:13:41
influence and popularity informs What
00:13:42
You Preach you're no longer declaring
00:13:45
truth to a fallen world you're
00:13:47
proclaiming yourself to your
00:13:50
friends James 4:4 makes it clear
00:13:53
friendship with the world is enmity with
00:13:57
God another
00:13:59
example the sincere desire to receive a
00:14:02
word from God faithfully and share it
00:14:05
with those who need to hear from him
00:14:07
gave birth to a pseudo prooptic culture
00:14:10
steeped in wishful thinking
00:14:12
self-gratification
00:14:14
elitism power and
00:14:17
manipulation and this one's really
00:14:19
nuanced so I'm going to hit pause on
00:14:20
reading for a moment and I just want to
00:14:22
be really clear I do not despise
00:14:25
prophecy scripture warns us against
00:14:27
despising prophecy
00:14:29
and the testimony of Jesus is the spirit
00:14:32
of Prophecy and so we should be eager to
00:14:35
hear his voice we should be eager to
00:14:37
communicate his heart um but I think
00:14:40
we've taken the gloves off a bit I can't
00:14:43
tell you how many thus saith the Lords I
00:14:45
have heard in my lifetime I I don't
00:14:47
think I could count it I grew up in a
00:14:48
very charismatic environment um kind of
00:14:52
I don't know I don't know if there is a
00:14:53
term for what I grew up and it was kind
00:14:55
of Pentecostal meets post Pentecostal
00:14:57
meets charismatic and there were all
00:15:00
sorts of characters around and um one of
00:15:03
the great things about the the
00:15:04
charismatic movement if we want to call
00:15:06
it that is that it created a sincere
00:15:09
Ardent hunger for the work of the Holy
00:15:11
Spirit to be manifest in our lives and
00:15:14
and I believe that that's a good thing
00:15:15
to reach for um but just like anything
00:15:19
else it can become a tool it can become
00:15:21
useful it can become convenient and and
00:15:24
it can become a pathway to what you want
00:15:27
uh and I've seen the prophetic abused
00:15:29
for many years I've experienced it
00:15:32
firsthand I've seen it in other people's
00:15:34
lives and man it is it's so
00:15:39
destructive the when it comes to
00:15:42
disillusionment I'm kind of of the
00:15:44
school of thought that God is not trying
00:15:45
to prevent your disillusionment he's
00:15:48
ensuring it uh he's committed to you
00:15:51
coming to your end because at our end we
00:15:54
find him um this is a part of our total
00:15:57
depravity we need him we need him and so
00:16:00
he wants us to come to the end of
00:16:01
ourselves and for us to realize we have
00:16:04
none of the answers and we don't have
00:16:05
anything and he has everything and he's
00:16:07
all we need um but I think when we move
00:16:12
that process Along on God's behalf and
00:16:14
other people's lives we do a lot of
00:16:16
damage I know a lot of people who have
00:16:19
turned their back on Christ because they
00:16:21
were wounded so deeply by abuse in this
00:16:25
category and that doesn't mean we should
00:16:28
throw the baby out with the bath water
00:16:29
I'm not I'm not trying to besmer
00:16:32
prophecy and uh discourage you from
00:16:36
trying to hear the voice of the Lord and
00:16:38
giving it to those who need it um but
00:16:41
when we mass-produce it uh we overc
00:16:44
consume it um when we over consume it
00:16:48
it's usually a sign that it's pretty
00:16:50
useful to our Pursuits and uh and I
00:16:53
think we need to exercise some restraint
00:16:55
we need the fear of the Lord um I think
00:16:58
if you really look back in scripture go
00:17:00
just go take a glance through the Old
00:17:02
Testament and see how God treats false
00:17:03
prophets go read uh go read the New
00:17:07
Testament and see how God deals with
00:17:08
false Shepherds and what he thinks and
00:17:11
when we tell lies out of wishful
00:17:14
thinking and good intentions God told me
00:17:16
thus sayith the Lord insert whatever
00:17:18
your favorite phrase is uh when we do
00:17:21
that we are participating in something
00:17:23
that God is vehemently against and and I
00:17:27
don't think all prophecy does that I
00:17:29
really really don't but when we open the
00:17:31
floodgates and we just say have at it
00:17:34
you know and we go Gang Busters with it
00:17:37
um there's a lot of collateral damage
00:17:39
and and that's fruit that we have to
00:17:40
reckon with and it's the opposite of the
00:17:42
fruit of the spirit because yes God
00:17:45
speaks to us but he also restrains
00:17:47
himself did you you ever think about
00:17:49
that God exercises restraint he
00:17:52
exercises restraint and it's beautiful
00:17:54
sometimes we want him not to be
00:17:55
restrained we want him to solve our
00:17:57
problems we want him to speak to us we
00:17:59
want him to do the thing we can't do
00:18:01
ourselves but in his sovereignty and in
00:18:04
his goodness he restrains himself so
00:18:07
that we do not get what we deserve so
00:18:09
that we might have what we don't deserve
00:18:12
we don't deserve salvation we don't
00:18:14
deserve Redemption we don't deserve to
00:18:17
sit at the right hand of Christ we don't
00:18:21
but he gives it to us anyway and part of
00:18:23
that is because he's restrained and
00:18:25
that's reflected in his holy spirit of
00:18:27
self-control
00:18:29
I'm going to do one more
00:18:31
example the sincere desire to spread the
00:18:34
love of Christ to the Lost gave birth to
00:18:37
an emphasis on Costless Redemption which
00:18:41
is completely
00:18:42
unbiblical we've attempted to lead
00:18:45
people to the Lord gently by telling
00:18:47
them that God loves them just the way
00:18:49
they are and the results have been
00:18:52
disastrous we offer salvation without
00:18:55
repentance we offer affirmation instead
00:18:57
of exhortation
00:18:59
we offer Christ without the
00:19:03
cross the Prophet Jeremiah had a very
00:19:08
thankless task um the lord gave him a
00:19:10
word of rebuke and correction for the
00:19:12
nation of Israel and they would not
00:19:15
listen to him um not going to go into
00:19:18
all the details of the drama of the
00:19:20
story but eventually God makes good on
00:19:22
his promise and when Israel would not
00:19:24
repent and turn to him uh one day
00:19:27
Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonian Army
00:19:29
showed up on their doorstep and what
00:19:31
ensued was decades of War um of loss
00:19:35
tragedy Devastation eventual enslavement
00:19:39
of the vast majority of the nation and
00:19:42
in 605 BC Nebuchadnezzar did something
00:19:45
truly diabolical and heart-wrenching as
00:19:48
he tore the families of Israel apart uh
00:19:51
he decided he was going to abduct entire
00:19:54
generation of Israeli teenagers bring
00:19:57
them over to Babylon and reform them and
00:20:02
among them were four young men Daniel
00:20:05
Shadrach Meshach and Abednego and of
00:20:09
their entire generation of
00:20:10
contemporaries they are the only four
00:20:13
that didn't bow their knee in Babylon
00:20:15
who didn't get assimilated into the
00:20:17
culture and I've always wondered why
00:20:20
like why did it happen that way not why
00:20:22
did they resist the
00:20:24
temptation um because I think that's
00:20:27
pretty self-evident in the the story but
00:20:30
why did everyone else give
00:20:32
in what compelled them to look at their
00:20:36
captors their persecutors their
00:20:38
oppressors and go yep I want to be a
00:20:40
part of your team now and the reality is
00:20:43
that Nebuchadnezzar was a genius um he
00:20:47
won them over through their stomachs
00:20:49
through their
00:20:51
appetites um and when I look at Daniel's
00:20:54
generation and I look at our generation
00:20:56
in the church today I see a lot of
00:20:58
similarity
00:20:59
um I think we are by and large mostly
00:21:03
motivated and driven um by our
00:21:06
cravings and the reality is that
00:21:10
whatever you consume the most of will
00:21:12
consume most of you the only thing that
00:21:15
sustained Daniel shedrach mishan and
00:21:18
Abednego was their yes their loyalty to
00:21:21
God but what does that practically is
00:21:23
they had self-control they stealed their
00:21:26
minds they kept their hearts pure and
00:21:29
upright and they refuse to Bow their
00:21:32
knee to other gods they would not be one
00:21:34
over through their appetites and when I
00:21:37
look at the church today man and I've
00:21:39
participated in this guys like I I am
00:21:42
not a I'm not some sort of you know
00:21:46
infallible voice over here or or some
00:21:48
Prophet with a prophetic word for you um
00:21:52
I've I've I've participated in the overc
00:21:54
consumption of these things that we
00:21:56
think are good but underneath are
00:21:58
actually antithetical to the gospel and
00:22:01
the reason they're antithetical to the
00:22:03
gospel is because they don't produce the
00:22:05
fruit of the spirit
00:22:08
self-control and so my my charge to us
00:22:11
and this is to me too guys like I I need
00:22:14
this I am preaching to myself right now
00:22:16
and it's a hard word is that man I I
00:22:20
need to kill the idol of gluttony in my
00:22:23
life and so do you um I need to kill the
00:22:27
Cravings of the flesh and so do you and
00:22:31
if we want to fulfill the Great
00:22:33
Commission if we really want the gospel
00:22:36
of the Kingdom to be preached in every
00:22:38
corner of the Earth with faithfulness
00:22:40
with Integrity with
00:22:42
fruitfulness then we must first
00:22:45
ourselves be willing to submit our Wills
00:22:48
to his we must lay down the things that
00:22:51
we long for In the Flesh whether they
00:22:54
are physical vices of overt sin and
00:22:57
debauchery or whether they're our
00:23:00
favorite Idols that preach good and yeah
00:23:06
I I don't think I have anything much
00:23:07
more eloquent I I I think I just laid a
00:23:09
bunch of heavy stuff on you guys and uh
00:23:12
I don't apologize you know I'm not I'm
00:23:14
not sitting here going oh I'm sorry this
00:23:16
is heavy this was going to be heavy all
00:23:18
along and I knew it so I'm not really
00:23:20
sorry but I am sober and I feel the Lord
00:23:24
putting his finger on my gluttony big
00:23:27
time and we all do it this is America
00:23:31
it's the American dream it's this is why
00:23:34
the fruits of the spirit are
00:23:35
antithetical to American culture in a
00:23:37
lot of ways is
00:23:39
because this is America you can do
00:23:41
whatever you want you can have whatever
00:23:43
you want abundance is available all you
00:23:45
have to do is hustle and make it happen
00:23:48
um and I can't think of something that
00:23:50
is more dangerous to the beauty of the
00:23:53
or maybe dangerous isn't the right word
00:23:56
um because that's a little hyperbolic
00:23:57
but um it's extremely damaging to the
00:24:00
witness of the Gospel when we are fed a
00:24:03
steady diet of lies that say you can
00:24:06
achieve whatever you want and it's all
00:24:07
good because you want it and and I think
00:24:10
we need to get this under control in our
00:24:12
lives or else we're not doing service to
00:24:15
the gospel we're not being faithful
00:24:17
Witnesses and so my my encouragement to
00:24:20
us today is this let's obey the Lord
00:24:23
when it comes to our appetites let's
00:24:26
obey the Lord and Obey script rure when
00:24:29
it comes to the things we set our
00:24:30
affections upon and the things we
00:24:32
prioritize whether it's in Ministry or
00:24:34
in our personal lives and if we can do
00:24:36
that I think we're going to unlock a
00:24:39
special Grace in our families and our
00:24:41
relationships and our churches a special
00:24:44
Grace to walk in Humble obedience to God
00:24:47
um and man that's the Legacy I want for
00:24:50
me and my children for you and yours for
00:24:53
your family for your friends for your
00:24:55
community this is what I want for us
00:24:57
this is what I hope you want for you is
00:24:59
a legacy of humble Obedience of bonder
00:25:03
servanthood to Jesus Christ and if we do
00:25:06
that man we will be filled to
00:25:09
overflowing with abundance beyond our
00:25:11
wildest dreams it's and the reason it's
00:25:14
beyond our dreams is because our dreams
00:25:16
kind of suck our dreams are all about us
00:25:19
they're not that interesting um and
00:25:23
God's got some pretty interesting dreams
00:25:24
for the future of this planet for the
00:25:27
future of his
00:25:28
Church uh and man I want to be right in
00:25:32
the middle of it and I want to get this
00:25:34
right and I think uh if you made it this
00:25:36
far chances are you want to get it right
00:25:38
too so I'm just going to pray for us um
00:25:41
and then we'll be done Lord I Thank you
00:25:44
for my brothers and sisters God I ask
00:25:46
that you would give us Grace to walk in
00:25:48
obedience that we would submit our flesh
00:25:50
to your will that we would be obedient
00:25:53
in all things and that our affections
00:25:55
our desires the things we hunger and
00:25:57
long for Lord that they would be
00:26:00
submitted to you that they would come
00:26:02
under you that your priorities would be
00:26:05
our priorities the things that you
00:26:07
hunger and thirst for would be the
00:26:09
things that we hunger and thirst for
00:26:12
Lord let it be said of us that we are
00:26:14
the Blessed ones who hungered and
00:26:16
thirsted for righteousness and that we
00:26:19
were filled that we were satisfied that
00:26:22
we were content in
00:26:24
you Lord give us the grace to exercise
00:26:28
is nurture and protect self-control to
00:26:32
do war with gluttony and to put to death
00:26:35
the appetites of the flesh that are
00:26:37
antithetical to your will and your
00:26:40
desire Lord we thank you for your grace
00:26:45
amen maratha
