  • 00:00:02
all right welcome back guys uh this
  • 00:00:05
video is actually one of the biggest
  • 00:00:07
ones that I've wanted to do for quite
  • 00:00:10
some time uh granted I did make a video
  • 00:00:13
that talked about this uh in pretty
  • 00:00:16
decent length uh I want to say 2018
  • 00:00:20
maybe 2019 on my main channel um that
  • 00:00:25
was a long time ago at this point number
  • 00:00:26
one and the number two uh it wasn't as
  • 00:00:29
detailed as I wanted it to be and I mean
  • 00:00:32
fast forward to today um there's quite a
  • 00:00:34
bit more things that I can bring up and
  • 00:00:35
discuss in great detail in contrast to
  • 00:00:39
how that video was um but this video uh
  • 00:00:42
is going to be about why I don't compete
  • 00:00:44
in tournaments uh this is a very very
  • 00:00:47
hot topic i can't tell you how many
  • 00:00:49
times people contact me all the time to
  • 00:00:52
this very very day uh the big one just
  • 00:00:54
passed uh what was that October of last
  • 00:00:57
year somewhere around there um and I was
  • 00:00:59
in the chat supporting the event talking
  • 00:01:00
and cheering people on that were in the
  • 00:01:02
event that I knew of or knew in person
  • 00:01:05
and so many people were saying "Why
  • 00:01:07
aren't you there why aren't you there
  • 00:01:08
when are you going to go to the big one
  • 00:01:08
when you go to the big one when are you
  • 00:01:09
going to the big deal when you go here
  • 00:01:10
when you go there when you go to a
  • 00:01:11
bite?" Uh and all these different events
  • 00:01:14
nonstop um and on one hand you know I
  • 00:01:16
really do it means a lot because people
  • 00:01:18
look up to me people want to see me
  • 00:01:19
compete and I totally get it it makes
  • 00:01:21
complete sense but on the other hand uh
  • 00:01:24
there is quite a bit of history and
  • 00:01:27
quite a bit of reasoning as to why I
  • 00:01:28
have no interest in doing tournaments or
  • 00:01:30
events and we're going to dive right
  • 00:01:32
into it here in just a couple minutes
  • 00:01:34
but first of course I got to make a
  • 00:01:36
couple disclaimers here uh number one
  • 00:01:38
this is just my opinion obviously right
  • 00:01:41
number two it's my personal experience
  • 00:01:43
so you can take what I say with a grain
  • 00:01:45
of salt um in regards to don't don't
  • 00:01:48
take my personal experience and assume
  • 00:01:51
it's going to be the same for you or
  • 00:01:53
everybody else right that's not the case
  • 00:01:55
uh there's plenty of events that are out
  • 00:01:57
there that are very uh well operated
  • 00:01:59
that are uh uh done in good faith and
  • 00:02:02
have great people behind it we literally
  • 00:02:04
just had a local one out here um that
  • 00:02:06
was hosted by a handful of people that I
  • 00:02:08
knew IRL um or at the very least
  • 00:02:10
acquaintances and it was really fun to
  • 00:02:12
watch it it was I was there to support
  • 00:02:14
it um I actually partake in the I
  • 00:02:16
participated in the u co-op division of
  • 00:02:19
that event uh just for fun and that was
  • 00:02:21
my way of showing support um towards my
  • 00:02:24
friends that put the event together and
  • 00:02:25
there's a lot of passion put into it um
  • 00:02:28
so everything I'm going to be going over
  • 00:02:30
is not uh it can't be a blanket
  • 00:02:32
statement you can't apply it to every
  • 00:02:34
single event and again it's just coming
  • 00:02:36
down to my personal experience with what
  • 00:02:38
I've dealt with throughout the years of
  • 00:02:40
being involved in uh granted very few
  • 00:02:42
events i haven't been in too many events
  • 00:02:44
um as a whole if you count you know
  • 00:02:46
Dance Dance Revolution In the Groove and
  • 00:02:48
Pump It Up just strictly dance games um
  • 00:02:51
    I can't I can't count how many that I
  • 00:02:53
have entered but not not a whole lot in
  • 00:02:55
comparison to other people um and then
  • 00:02:59
was there any other things i'm looking I
  • 00:03:00
got bullet points for this video this
  • 00:03:02
time around um all right that one oh and
  • 00:03:05
the last thing to make a disclaimer
  • 00:03:06
about is there's a couple of sensitive
  • 00:03:08
topics that I'm going to be going over
  • 00:03:09
so just a fair warning just a heads up
  • 00:03:11
to you guys um just be aware uh but I'm
  • 00:03:15
trying to be fully transparent and give
  • 00:03:17
you my full reasoning um which I feel
  • 00:03:20
like I didn't do on my main channel with
  • 00:03:21
that one video back in 2018 or so uh so
  • 00:03:24
this one I want to just make it be a
  • 00:03:26
oneanddone thing go over pretty much
  • 00:03:29
every reason that I can think of that's
  • 00:03:32
hold me back from entering events and
  • 00:03:34
it's pretty much indefinite i really
  • 00:03:37
don't see myself doing it especially at
  • 00:03:39
this point in my life you know I'm 34
  • 00:03:40
years old i have a beautiful daughter uh
  • 00:03:42
and I got a bunch of other things that I
  • 00:03:44
prioritize in my personal life and have
  • 00:03:47
other hobbies and interests and I just
  • 00:03:48
don't see myself entering events but
  • 00:03:50
without further ado let's dive into this
  • 00:03:52
um I may pause here and there just to
  • 00:03:55
collect my thoughts um it's also a bit
  • 00:03:57
of a sensitive topic for me because of
  • 00:03:59
reasons that you'll you'll see why um
  • 00:04:01
but also just yeah to collect my
  • 00:04:03
thoughts and make sure I'm getting
  • 00:04:04
    everything
  • 00:04:06
uh covered and get all my points across
  • 00:04:09
as best as possible which is why I wrote
  • 00:04:12
down a lot of bullet points all right so
  • 00:04:15
reasons that I'm not interested in
  • 00:04:16
events now I did two categories i did uh
  • 00:04:20
one that's under the lack of competitive
  • 00:04:22
integrity that's the first major reason
  • 00:04:25
and there's a like subcategories in
  • 00:04:27
there that I'll be going over first and
  • 00:04:29
    then after that there's additional
  • 00:04:30
reasons which are just you know little
  • 00:04:32
micro things that collectively add up to
  • 00:04:34
be a huge turnoff for me uh so the first
  • 00:04:37
one lack of competitive integrity so
  • 00:04:39
what do I mean by that uh point number
  • 00:04:41
one rules changing suddenly uh so in my
  • 00:04:45
experience I've been to numerous events
  • 00:04:48
where you can bring up one example uh
  • 00:04:50
there's an event that was hosted and I
  • 00:04:52
went to it i traveled to it and when I'm
  • 00:04:54
there on the day of the event uh this is
  • 00:04:57
for Pump It Up uh Pump It Up is a game
  • 00:05:00
where singles and doubles are both
  • 00:05:02
equally important and during this event
  • 00:05:05
they actually on the day of cancelled
  • 00:05:08
doubles completely removed it after a
  • 00:05:10
certain point i don't remember entirely
  • 00:05:13
like how deep it was in the event but I
  • 00:05:15
know for a fact it wasn't super deep
  • 00:05:16
like at the very very end but even that
  • 00:05:18
is unacceptable um because again it
  • 00:05:20
comes back to the point that I said that
  • 00:05:22
this is under for the category this is
  • 00:05:23
under the lack of competitive integrity
  • 00:05:26
uh how is it fair for people that are
  • 00:05:28
spending money to travel to these events
  • 00:05:31
there's money on the line granted not a
  • 00:05:33
whole lot but there's a prize pool
  • 00:05:36
    there's people spending their time
  • 00:05:38
    they're spending their hardearned money
  • 00:05:39
to go to these events and there's rules
  • 00:05:41
posted and during these events they can
  • 00:05:44
change the rules on the fly now I know
  • 00:05:46
the rebuttal is going to be well time is
  • 00:05:49
an issue right to have time limitations
  • 00:05:52
because of the um the facility that's
  • 00:05:55
the the events being hosted at usually
  • 00:05:56
round ones or it could be a number of
  • 00:05:59
places and locations but round one's
  • 00:06:00
been a more popular one and I totally
  • 00:06:02
understand that and acknowledge that so
  • 00:06:04
    I I want to make that's another thing I
  • 00:06:06
want to make a disclaimer about too is
  • 00:06:07
like don't misunderstand this video as
  • 00:06:10
me trying to point the finger and say
  • 00:06:12
these people are bad to these people are
  • 00:06:15
you know not fair they're purposely
  • 00:06:17
doing this or that sometimes that's the
  • 00:06:18
case uh but majority of the time no
  • 00:06:21
these people are very passionate there's
  • 00:06:23
hardworking to that put in a lot of work
  • 00:06:24
in these events and they do a great job
  • 00:06:26
uh so keep that in mind just want to
  • 00:06:28
make that very very clear but
  • 00:06:30
unfortunately I have come across quite a
  • 00:06:32
bit of times where rules are changed
  • 00:06:33
like that where doubles are completely
  • 00:06:35
    eliminated because of time constraint
  • 00:06:37
and that does come down to it begs the
  • 00:06:39
question of why is that the case and why
  • 00:06:42
is the time an issue did you let too
  • 00:06:44
many people enter your event did you
  • 00:06:46
    limit the brackets properly the
  • 00:06:47
    tournament bracket size properly uh
  • 00:06:50
there's a handful of things that you
  • 00:06:51
could be asking about that to figure out
  • 00:06:52
like what caused that to happen you know
  • 00:06:54
and I get it again sometimes hiccups can
  • 00:06:56
happen it's not easy i've done a couple
  • 00:06:58
of toing before nothing crazy major for
  • 00:07:01
like really big events that have big
  • 00:07:02
names behind them just little ones that
  • 00:07:04
have been in my garage and even that
  • 00:07:06
like I do acknowledge that it is an
  • 00:07:07
issue and that is a fair point to bring
  • 00:07:09
up but it's still comes down to the
  • 00:07:11
point that I'm trying to make is that
  • 00:07:12
there's a lack of competitive integrity
  • 00:07:14
    whether it's intentional or not that's a
  • 00:07:16
    different conversation but rules
  • 00:07:18
changing suddenly like that said right
  • 00:07:20
there getting rid of doubles completely
  • 00:07:21
there's money on the line that's going
  • 00:07:22
to change the outcome entirely whether
  • 00:07:24
people want to accept that or not there
  • 00:07:26
are people that are really really good
  • 00:07:27
at singles but they lack skill in
  • 00:07:29
doubles and there's vice versa but
  • 00:07:31
there's people that are really good at
  • 00:07:32
doubles and uh they struggle with
  • 00:07:34
singles in in comparison and then
  • 00:07:36
there's also people that are just
  • 00:07:37
wellrounded at both granted um point
  • 00:07:40
number two under the lack of competitive
  • 00:07:42
integrity bias to bending rules to favor
  • 00:07:45
others so we haven't had uh I don't know
  • 00:07:49
if they call it out in other countries
  • 00:07:51
but I think it always ends with um PF
  • 00:07:53
for uh Pump Festival uh these are
  • 00:07:57
official tournaments that are hosted by
  • 00:07:59
Anamero or like on behalf of Animero
  • 00:08:02
it's kind of weird if that makes sense
  • 00:08:04
like Animero directly isn't flying out
  • 00:08:07
to these countries or these locations
  • 00:08:09
and like being there per se maybe they
  • 00:08:11
are sometimes i don't know i've been out
  • 00:08:12
of the loop admittedly but the last one
  • 00:08:15
that was here in the United States was
  • 00:08:16
    USPF uh
  • 00:08:18
    2018 and I know for a fact andro wasn't
  • 00:08:21
there but people that represented andro
  • 00:08:24
uh non-employees were there um so the
  • 00:08:27
the face of Andro was there running
  • 00:08:29
these events uh but this is one example
  • 00:08:32
at USPF 2018 i entered that event that
  • 00:08:34
was my last uh official andro
  • 00:08:39
uh hosted or whatever you want to call
  • 00:08:40
it event so this is considered the
  • 00:08:42
United States Championship uh and when I
  • 00:08:45
went into that event um ended up winning
  • 00:08:47
it uh so keep that in mind so I know
  • 00:08:49
people are going to try to rebuttal and
  • 00:08:51
be like "Oh he's just bitter that he
  • 00:08:52
lost or whatever." No this is coming
  • 00:08:54
from the person that won that event the
  • 00:08:56
last host of United States Pump
  • 00:08:57
Championship okay in 2018 uh with that
  • 00:09:01
said um during that event I went up
  • 00:09:04
against a player um who whose
  • 00:09:08
significant other was the face of this
  • 00:09:10
uh that was running this event alongside
  • 00:09:12
with a couple other people and I had my
  • 00:09:14
match against that person and we played
  • 00:09:16
a chart and that he went up first and
  • 00:09:19
ended up dropping holds at the beginning
  • 00:09:20
of the song and after he finished
  • 00:09:23
playing his significant other stood up
  • 00:09:25
and said "That was not him that was pad
  • 00:09:27
error that needs to now I don't remember
  • 00:09:29
if they said it needed to be
  • 00:09:31
    recalculated
  • 00:09:32
um you know that which means they undo
  • 00:09:35
the drop hold misses that happened in
  • 00:09:38
that section and fixed his score
  • 00:09:40
accordingly or if they said let him redo
  • 00:09:43
it like let him play it again that
  • 00:09:45
wasn't him but either way that was the
  • 00:09:47
argument that was being made on the spot
  • 00:09:49
at the United States Championship and I
  • 00:09:52
stood up and said I had to pull up the
  • 00:09:54
rules that were posted on the Facebook
  • 00:09:56
page at the time and show them like
  • 00:09:57
actually said that that's not allowed
  • 00:09:59
you play it and that's what you get if
  • 00:10:01
there's pad issues too bad and I showed
  • 00:10:04
them that and then just said you know
  • 00:10:05
let me play it i ended up playing it and
  • 00:10:08
this is on Prime 2 so I I my memor is a
  • 00:10:10
little foggy on how the scoring system
  • 00:10:12
was different but uh basically I play
  • 00:10:14
the song on the same machine and I got a
  • 00:10:16
score that was it didn't matter
  • 00:10:18
basically thankfully um so even if those
  • 00:10:21
misses were recalked um or like taken
  • 00:10:24
out of the equation of the score uh I
  • 00:10:26
still would have won so thankfully that
  • 00:10:28
happened but imagine if it didn't happen
  • 00:10:30
imagine if I didn't win that and they
  • 00:10:32
let the person redo it because of pad
  • 00:10:35
error or whatever have you right so this
  • 00:10:38
goes back to again the point of the lack
  • 00:10:40
    of competitive integrity and fairness
  • 00:10:41
and this also goes into the next point
  • 00:10:43
that I want to bring up is biased to
  • 00:10:45
bending rules to favor others um I think
  • 00:10:48
I actually that's the one I touched on
  • 00:10:51
and then went into this example i can
  • 00:10:52
give one more example on this too uh
  • 00:10:54
this is way back man this was uh I think
  • 00:10:56
this was my first tournament ever for In
  • 00:10:59
the Groove um was out in San Diego uh
  • 00:11:02
it's actually where I met a bunch of uh
  • 00:11:05
friends that I I ended up being friends
  • 00:11:07
with befriended a bunch of people at
  • 00:11:08
that event uh it was a fun event overall
  • 00:11:10
um but I I don't know how deep in it was
  • 00:11:12
it was near the end i don't think it was
  • 00:11:14
    the finals maybe semifinals somewhere
  • 00:11:17
around there um I'm up against my
  • 00:11:19
opponent uh we're playing a chart uh
  • 00:11:21
it's ITG so it's we're both on the same
  • 00:11:23
cabinet one pad each and they we're
  • 00:11:27
playing the chart and I I'm trying to
  • 00:11:29
remember correctly because this is like
  • 00:11:30
2011 so I may be misremembering like
  • 00:11:34
every little detail but I do know for a
  • 00:11:36
fact that we played we tied uh an X
  • 00:11:40
count for excellence but my opponent
  • 00:11:43
triggered one of the mines uh if you're
  • 00:11:45
not familiar with In the Groove if you
  • 00:11:47
trigger a mine it reduces your score by
  • 00:11:48
a little bit and you have to be on a
  • 00:11:50
sensor to like trigger it when the mine
  • 00:11:52
hits the receptors up top uh so we tied
  • 00:11:55
but he hit a a mine or a bomb whatever
  • 00:11:57
you want to call it um and he called out
  • 00:12:00
pad error he said it wasn't him so the
  • 00:12:03
to uh for this event said "Switch sides
  • 00:12:06
play it again." We did that guess what
  • 00:12:08
happened it's kind of crazy we tied X
  • 00:12:10
again but he triggered the mine he said
  • 00:12:13
it was Pat again and then this is where
  • 00:12:15
it's a little bit of a foggy memory to
  • 00:12:17
be fair um but I do know that we played
  • 00:12:20
it again a third time and I don't
  • 00:12:22
remember if we swapped sides or not but
  • 00:12:24
we did play a third time and he ended up
  • 00:12:27
beating me with my uh he he won that
  • 00:12:29
round he didn't trigger mine and then he
  • 00:12:31
beat the EX count that I had so his
  • 00:12:33
score was higher and I got knocked out
  • 00:12:35
    of the tournament
  • 00:12:37
    um that's I I I don't know i'm kind of
  • 00:12:41
just like as I'm telling these stories
  • 00:12:43
and I'm like remembering all this it's
  • 00:12:44
just like little things like that that
  • 00:12:47
    just people I don't know other people's
  • 00:12:49
experience and events i mean I've heard
  • 00:12:51
some people say good things i've heard a
  • 00:12:53
a handful of other people say bad things
  • 00:12:55
i actually had uh Windforce out here uh
  • 00:12:58
several months ago and he speaks pretty
  • 00:13:01
decent English uh enough to where we
  • 00:13:02
could have a conversation and he
  • 00:13:04
actually was talking to me about uh
  • 00:13:05
tournaments and stuff because he asked
  • 00:13:06
the same question you know he's like
  • 00:13:07
"Hey I'm curious why don't you enter
  • 00:13:09
events?" He says "You're really talented
  • 00:13:10
player blah blah blah." And I went over
  • 00:13:13
all these things with him had a really
  • 00:13:14
deep conversation with him and funny
  • 00:13:16
enough he actually brought up uh he
  • 00:13:18
agreed with me and said "You know I too
  • 00:13:19
have experienced uh a similar thing
  • 00:13:22
happen to me in official events in Korea
  • 00:13:24
official events in other countries where
  • 00:13:26
I'm noticing that people that are
  • 00:13:28
    organizing these events they're bending
  • 00:13:30
rules or people that are competing are
  • 00:13:32
trying to bend rules where they can or
  • 00:13:34
manipulate things to favor them as much
  • 00:13:36
as possible and it just it solidifies my
  • 00:13:40
point is that there's all this biased
  • 00:13:43
stuff that goes on with people that are
  • 00:13:45
    funny enough self-appointed mind you
  • 00:13:48
because a lot of these events are uh
  • 00:13:49
communitydriven since there's a lack of
  • 00:13:51
official events but then the other
  • 00:13:53
problem too is official events aren't
  • 00:13:55
even all that great i mean look at KC
  • 00:13:58
for example people on how that
  • 00:14:00
event is operated and how it's uh the
  • 00:14:02
format that they use for it um and the
  • 00:14:05
same thing with uh what's that called
  • 00:14:08
wpf World Pump Festival so the World
  • 00:14:10
Championship i think the last one was in
  • 00:14:12
2016 um I don't remember all the details
  • 00:14:15
of the rules for that but I know this
  • 00:14:18
happened too with KC at one of the KC's
  • 00:14:20
i know um they when they came out with
  • 00:14:23
the gold cabinet they made everyone play
  • 00:14:25
on those machines and I know there was
  • 00:14:27
if not all the people that were entering
  • 00:14:28
that event uh a handful of them were
  • 00:14:31
complaining about that and saying it
  • 00:14:32
wasn't fair um it just felt awful uh I
  • 00:14:37
don't know if they modded the pad or not
  • 00:14:38
so I can't speak on that i'm not going
  • 00:14:39
to make assumptions with that but maybe
  • 00:14:41
possibly that was another thing they
  • 00:14:42
were complaining about i think it was
  • 00:14:43
Barone that was the most vocal about it
  • 00:14:44
a Japanese player um I don't know how
  • 00:14:47
Chris Trike felt about it so again I'm
  • 00:14:49
not going to speak on other people's
  • 00:14:50
behalf especially when I don't know the
  • 00:14:52
facts for it um for WPF
  • 00:14:56
um I know in that format at some point
  • 00:14:58
if I'm not mistaken you played one song
  • 00:15:00
uh and that was it you were just done
  • 00:15:02
and then they also introduced the LX
  • 00:15:03
cabinet there at that event if I'm not
  • 00:15:05
mistaken um and all these people are
  • 00:15:09
traveling all over from the world right
  • 00:15:11
to go to this event and then that's what
  • 00:15:14
    they're doing that's how they present a
  • 00:15:15
world championship and then not to
  • 00:15:17
mention the prize pool is honestly a
  • 00:15:19
joke and all these events is even uh not
  • 00:15:22
world uh official hosted ones now I know
  • 00:15:25
the rebuttal is going to be you know
  • 00:15:28
    it's it's a small niche game it's uh
  • 00:15:32
communitydriven most of the time it's
  • 00:15:34
    not the to's fault it's not anyone's
  • 00:15:36
fault in particular when it comes to the
  • 00:15:38
    price pool especially there's really
  • 00:15:40
nothing that the community can do to fix
  • 00:15:41
that problem uh it just comes down to
  • 00:15:44
the the the brutal reality that it's
  • 00:15:46
just so niche and so small uh so there's
  • 00:15:49
no fingerpointing there's no one to
  • 00:15:50
blame for that that's just how it is uh
  • 00:15:52
and I acknowledge that um but I'm
  • 00:15:55
getting a little bit ahead of myself
  • 00:15:56
here sorry so I did bias to bending
  • 00:15:58
rules to favor others there's plenty of
  • 00:16:00
other examples that I could give but I'm
  • 00:16:01
not going to get too stuck on like one
  • 00:16:03
individual point um and if you've ever
  • 00:16:06
    experienced anything like this yourself
  • 00:16:07
please share in the comment section down
  • 00:16:09
below like let me know um it could very
  • 00:16:11
well just be like a minority issue i
  • 00:16:13
really do think it is and that's why I
  • 00:16:15
want to really uh uh focus hard on the
  • 00:16:19
point of what I said in the beginning of
  • 00:16:21
the video with my disclaimer is that
  • 00:16:22
this is just my personal experience
  • 00:16:24
right this again doesn't mean that it's
  • 00:16:27
the case for every event or majority of
  • 00:16:29
events because it very well likely isn't
  • 00:16:32
the majority of events i could be uh
  • 00:16:34
just an outlier who knows um but
  • 00:16:37
regardless I'm telling you why and
  • 00:16:38
giving you my story and my experience of
  • 00:16:40
what I've dealt with from as early back
  • 00:16:42
as like 2009 all the way to current time
  • 00:16:47
um the next one this is actually kind of
  • 00:16:49
crazy that I even have to bring this up
  • 00:16:51
and it's really sad it's very upsetting
  • 00:16:53
that it's even an issue but politics uh
  • 00:16:56
now I guess politics could be there's
  • 00:16:58
two types of politics you can say like
  • 00:16:59
politics with like within the community
  • 00:17:01
itself of like um you know clicks and
  • 00:17:04
you know biases and things like that but
  • 00:17:06
the politics I'm talking about is actual
  • 00:17:08
like real world politics you know
  • 00:17:10
    politicians and political topics and
  • 00:17:12
things like that um one of the biggest
  • 00:17:15
examples that I can give you is that in
  • 00:17:17
2020 um after George Floyd passed away I
  • 00:17:21
actually made a tweet um as you guys
  • 00:17:23
probably remember this blew up all over
  • 00:17:26
social media people were putting um you
  • 00:17:28
know black profile pictures where it's
  • 00:17:30
just a a black image there's nothing on
  • 00:17:32
it um or putting you know hashtag BLM in
  • 00:17:35
their Twitter bios or tweeting about it
  • 00:17:38
people are very very very vocal about
  • 00:17:40
this uh event that happened in 2020 and
  • 00:17:42
shortly after this uh occurred I
  • 00:17:45
actually made a tweet which to this day
  • 00:17:46
it's still on my Twitter account you can
  • 00:17:48
go look at it uh if you don't want to
  • 00:17:50
take my word for it from this video but
  • 00:17:52
but I said something along the lines of
  • 00:17:54
"Hey guys with everything that's going
  • 00:17:55
on in the real world right now um I just
  • 00:17:58
want to remind my community to not talk
  • 00:18:00
    about political or controversial things
  • 00:18:02
uh in my Discord uh server and my Twitch
  • 00:18:06
streams." That's all I said and the
  • 00:18:10
dance game community from anywhere from
  • 00:18:12
DDR players to in the groove players and
  • 00:18:15
pump it up players just everybody not
  • 00:18:17
well not everybody every uh every dance
  • 00:18:21
game genre had a handful of people that
  • 00:18:23
went on there and started uh dog piling
  • 00:18:26
on me calling me you know racist
  • 00:18:29
    alt-right Trump supporting bigot uh
  • 00:18:33
homophobic xenophobic I mean you just
  • 00:18:35
name it dude any buzzword you can come
  • 00:18:37
up with They threw that label onto me
  • 00:18:41
and I stole my ground and I actually
  • 00:18:44
went live the day I think the day of or
  • 00:18:48
the day after I made that tweet and a
  • 00:18:50
whole swarm of people came into my live
  • 00:18:52
stream and started spamming Black Lives
  • 00:18:55
Matter Black Lives Matter BLM say his
  • 00:18:57
name hashtag this hashtag that and we
  • 00:19:00
told I told them and uh my mods told
  • 00:19:03
them "Hey stop spamming uh it's a rule
  • 00:19:08
so we started deleting the comments
  • 00:19:09
because they kept spamming it kept
  • 00:19:10
spamming it kept spamming it and then
  • 00:19:12
sure enough people screenshot that and
  • 00:19:14
then put it on Twitter and say "Look
  • 00:19:16
he's silencing us he's racist." Uh they
  • 00:19:19
went further than that too with other
  • 00:19:20
things but again I'm not going to go
  • 00:19:22
deep down in this rabbit hole but a
  • 00:19:24
bunch of crazy accusations came out with
  • 00:19:25
that and it's just complete utter
  • 00:19:28
    nonsense chronically online mentality
  • 00:19:30
and sadly there is quite a few people in
  • 00:19:32
the dance game community in particular
  • 00:19:35
that have this type of mentality that
  • 00:19:37
    have that chronic that chronically
  • 00:19:39
online uh mentality and thought process
  • 00:19:41
and it bleeds in to these games somehow
  • 00:19:45
through events at times now again maybe
  • 00:19:47
this has died down i don't know i've
  • 00:19:49
been out of the loop completely but
  • 00:19:51
    again speaking from experience and
  • 00:19:53
during the time where I was more active
  • 00:19:54
on social media in comparison to where I
  • 00:19:56
am nowadays um there was quite a bit of
  • 00:19:59
this stuff being discussed and uh going
  • 00:20:03
as far as even after that happened there
  • 00:20:05
was a uh I don't remember the name of
  • 00:20:06
the Facebook group but it was a Facebook
  • 00:20:08
    group of again self-appointed people
  • 00:20:10
that all think very similarly and if
  • 00:20:13
they don't then they will exile you from
  • 00:20:16
the community they will uh try to cancel
  • 00:20:18
you they will try to silence you if you
  • 00:20:20
disagree with them on anything and even
  • 00:20:23
as little as something as that where
  • 00:20:24
it's just me saying "Hey let's keep
  • 00:20:26
    political and or controversial things
  • 00:20:29
out of my community of my my my very own
  • 00:20:32
community that I built my platform that
  • 00:20:34
I earned and worked for not yours uh not
  • 00:20:37
anyone else's." Um but what was I
  • 00:20:40
getting at the the the Facebook group
  • 00:20:43
that I was talking about there was a
  • 00:20:45
thread that was made to discuss whether
  • 00:20:46
or not I should be permanently banned
  • 00:20:48
from certain events because I was a
  • 00:20:51
threat to the community because of that
  • 00:20:54
tweet and again that tweet is still
  • 00:20:55
there to this day so if you want to
  • 00:20:57
scroll way back I think it was around
  • 00:21:00
like it was in 2020 i think it was like
  • 00:21:02
April or so give or take right around
  • 00:21:05
there by all means go check it out um
  • 00:21:08
    it's just complete
  • 00:21:10
utter nonsense again it's just insanity
  • 00:21:12
to me that this is even a thing and uh I
  • 00:21:14
I again I don't know if this is still
  • 00:21:16
going on to this day it wouldn't
  • 00:21:18
surprise me because there's a lot of the
  • 00:21:19
familiar old faces are still in these
  • 00:21:22
scenes running a lot of these events so
  • 00:21:24
    it's a bigger reason that it's a huge
  • 00:21:25
turnoff it's not welcoming uh it's very
  • 00:21:28
very uh ironically uh close-minded which
  • 00:21:31
is something they always preach to be
  • 00:21:32
against and they always talk about
  • 00:21:34
saying you know we're open arms this and
  • 00:21:36
that but the moment you have any slight
  • 00:21:38
misalignment with them and any political
  • 00:21:40
view no matter how tame of a take you
  • 00:21:44
have you will get exiled if they do not
  • 00:21:46
like you or do not agree with what
  • 00:21:48
    you're saying they'll they'll chew alive
  • 00:21:50
    their own people it's it's crazy it's
  • 00:21:51
like it's like they they do this like
  • 00:21:54
this self-purity test or like a purity
  • 00:21:57
test on other people and it's just
  • 00:22:00
eventually uh it's very uh very
  • 00:22:02
    polarizing and very uh again
  • 00:22:04
narrow-minded and it's damaging to the
  • 00:22:07
    community because it will eventually
  • 00:22:09
they'll have nobody left to uh uh do
  • 00:22:11
this purity test on because they're just
  • 00:22:13
closing they're pushing people away from
  • 00:22:16
this game and it's like of all of all
  • 00:22:19
fans to get politics involved in it's
  • 00:22:21
dance games like really that's just
  • 00:22:24
    insanity i I just don't understand it
  • 00:22:26
    and that's that's a really really big
  • 00:22:28
one that I really needed to bring up and
  • 00:22:30
emphasize because from my experience it
  • 00:22:33
was very uh unwelcoming and very
  • 00:22:36
narrow-minded and it was a huge turnoff
  • 00:22:37
    from uh attending major events
  • 00:22:40
especially because again a lot of the
  • 00:22:41
people that are running up these big
  • 00:22:43
events at least during that time again
  • 00:22:44
don't know how it is nowadays haven't
  • 00:22:46
looked into it uh was these same people
  • 00:22:48
that are very very uh politically
  • 00:22:51
politically extreme uh is the best way
  • 00:22:53
to say it or chronically online uh not
  • 00:22:56
in uh not living in reality so to speak
  • 00:22:59
uh so the next point I want to bring up
  • 00:23:01
is uh it's not an even playing field
  • 00:23:03
this is something that uh it's crazy
  • 00:23:05
again to me for this one too uh I always
  • 00:23:08
hear people say that of like you know
  • 00:23:10
whenever I try to criticize uh certain
  • 00:23:13
tournaments or events or like the
  • 00:23:14
structure of um dance game tournaments
  • 00:23:17
and whatnot point out flaws of of
  • 00:23:19
different things right it could be a
  • 00:23:21
number of different things the answer I
  • 00:23:22
always get back is well it's an even
  • 00:23:23
playing field for everybody no it's not
  • 00:23:26
how is it an even playing field when uh
  • 00:23:29
let me think of an example
  • 00:23:31
here i would say one that comes to my
  • 00:23:34
mind like right away is warm-ups
  • 00:23:36
warm-ups is a really big issue some
  • 00:23:38
tournaments let you warm up number one
  • 00:23:39
some don't um hear me out on this too
  • 00:23:42
because I'm going somewhere with this
  • 00:23:43
because I know people are going to say
  • 00:23:45
right away well the ones that let you
  • 00:23:48
warm up it's still an even playing field
  • 00:23:49
right because you can warm up or the
  • 00:23:50
ones where it's like well you no one can
  • 00:23:52
warm up so it's an even playing field
  • 00:23:53
right it's like no it's still unfair
  • 00:23:56
because I think this happened at one of
  • 00:23:58
the I don't remember the name of the
  • 00:24:00
event it was a big event and now it's
  • 00:24:02
the name of it has escaped to me but at
  • 00:24:03
least I heard from someone who attended
  • 00:24:05
it that said that there wasn't warm-ups
  • 00:24:08
um and it's rough that way which is for
  • 00:24:10
    the ones that don't allow warm-ups I
  • 00:24:12
    think that's really really lame i don't
  • 00:24:14
know how you can take it seriously in my
  • 00:24:16
opinion if you don't allow warm-ups but
  • 00:24:18
I'm getting distracted uh sorry um what
  • 00:24:21
happened at this event was that uh at
  • 00:24:23
some point you know once you get further
  • 00:24:25
into an event it's obviously the
  • 00:24:26
tournament bracket is uh getting is
  • 00:24:28
shrinking and getting more narrow so
  • 00:24:30
you're going to see the same people come
  • 00:24:31
going coming and going more often right
  • 00:24:34
so how is it an even playing field if
  • 00:24:36
player A gets to play two sets back to
  • 00:24:38
back because the tournament bracket is
  • 00:24:40
you know getting smaller and smaller
  • 00:24:42
right again it's not the to's fault per
  • 00:24:43
se uh for this particular issue but they
  • 00:24:46
get to play two sets or three sets in a
  • 00:24:48
row and now they're like fully warmed up
  • 00:24:50
compared to player B who's been sitting
  • 00:24:53
waiting for their set and hasn't been
  • 00:24:55
given the chance to warm up or they're
  • 00:24:56
just not allowed to warm up there are
  • 00:24:57
some events that don't allow warm-up and
  • 00:24:59
some that do um but for the ones that
  • 00:25:02
don't player B is sitting there waiting
  • 00:25:04
while player A just played two or three
  • 00:25:05
full sets against an opponent and now
  • 00:25:07
they have the advantage because they've
  • 00:25:09
played more songs and are more warmed up
  • 00:25:12
um doesn't make any sense to me uh I
  • 00:25:14
don't like that not a fan of it uh I I
  • 00:25:17
personally think the best way to make it
  • 00:25:19
the most fair there's other issues
  • 00:25:21
though granted but in the in the context
  • 00:25:23
of warm-ups and I in a perfect world
  • 00:25:25
again uh I think let people warm up uh
  • 00:25:30
side by side uh and then that gives them
  • 00:25:33
the opportunity to play at their best on
  • 00:25:35
that particular day now logistics is
  • 00:25:38
where the issue comes into this i know
  • 00:25:40
that's going to be the rebuttal you know
  • 00:25:41
    time time restrictions um cab
  • 00:25:44
restrictions some events only have one
  • 00:25:47
cabinet or they have two but they have a
  • 00:25:49
big tournament bracket with a lot of
  • 00:25:51
entries in it and time it comes back to
  • 00:25:53
time fully acknowledge that again this
  • 00:25:55
is no one's fault in particular at all
  • 00:25:57
it's just it's the nature of the beast
  • 00:25:59
um it's just the way it is um when
  • 00:26:02
you're hosting these events at you know
  • 00:26:04
facilities like round one yeah you have
  • 00:26:07
time uh restrictions and I fully
  • 00:26:08
acknowledge that and it that's a fact um
  • 00:26:12
but with that said that's still uh a
  • 00:26:14
gripe that I have with tournaments uh I
  • 00:26:17
do not like when it's either no warm-ups
  • 00:26:20
at at all or if you can warm up it's
  • 00:26:22
like a single song it's like I if you
  • 00:26:25
want to compare it to like sporting
  • 00:26:26
events which you could argue again
  • 00:26:28
apples and oranges which yeah it is but
  • 00:26:30
just to look at it as a reference right
  • 00:26:32
you have athletes at NFL games that are
  • 00:26:34
given like two hours to warm up if you
  • 00:26:37
ever gone to like a sporting event of
  • 00:26:38
any kind you get there early all the
  • 00:26:40
players on both teams are on the field
  • 00:26:42
warming up for like I said an hour or
  • 00:26:43
two it's crazy contrast when you go to a
  • 00:26:46
dance game tournament you go up it's
  • 00:26:48
like the further in you get to a
  • 00:26:50
tournament think about it if you're like
  • 00:26:51
climbing up it's like "All right you got
  • 00:26:53
to play you know chaos again D26 all
  • 00:26:56
right get up and play it." It's like
  • 00:26:59
it's kind of a joke uh with all due
  • 00:27:01
respect I again no disrespect towards to
  • 00:27:04
not their fault but just when you look
  • 00:27:06
at it from the competitive the like from
  • 00:27:08
    a competitive
  • 00:27:09
mentality how could I take something
  • 00:27:12
like that seriously where you can't play
  • 00:27:15
warmed up uh even when the ones that do
  • 00:27:18
let you warm up again they're limited on
  • 00:27:19
time so you're not truly getting warmed
  • 00:27:21
up for these events um I've been on that
  • 00:27:24
topic long enough i feel like that was
  • 00:27:26
under not an even playing field oh well
  • 00:27:30
then the other point was not a welcoming
  • 00:27:31
environment i can kind of gloss over
  • 00:27:33
this one um a little bit because that
  • 00:27:35
kind of ties in back to the politics
  • 00:27:36
thing that I brought up where it's it's
  • 00:27:38
that was one reason out of many of why
  • 00:27:39
    it's not a welcoming environment i know
  • 00:27:42
there's going to be a handful of people
  • 00:27:43
that will say um you know while I've had
  • 00:27:45
    a polar opposite of experience it's a
  • 00:27:48
it's been a very welcoming environ for
  • 00:27:50
me and that's great honestly like more
  • 00:27:52
power to you if you want to go to these
  • 00:27:53
events by all means continue going to
  • 00:27:55
these events again don't mistake this
  • 00:27:57
video as like hey guys let's come
  • 00:27:58
together and boycott events it's like no
  • 00:28:00
there's great to and there's great
  • 00:28:01
events out there that are hosted by
  • 00:28:03
great people uh like I literally just
  • 00:28:05
attended a local event with what I just
  • 00:28:07
explained it was a great event it was a
  • 00:28:09
bunch of fun i love socializing with
  • 00:28:11
everybody that was there it was a great
  • 00:28:12
experience um but with that said um
  • 00:28:16
majority of my experience in the past
  • 00:28:18
has not been uh the case for that it's
  • 00:28:21
been a very unwelcoming environment i've
  • 00:28:23
had a lot of bad experiences with
  • 00:28:24
different people um it could be uh part
  • 00:28:28
of that is because I'm under a spotlight
  • 00:28:30
so to speak because I have platform uh
  • 00:28:33
I'm considered a top ranked player as of
  • 00:28:34
now and pump it up and so people are
  • 00:28:37
watching me under a micros microscope so
  • 00:28:40
    to speak so
  • 00:28:43
um maybe that's a big reason why I'm
  • 00:28:46
noticing it more um and there's also you
  • 00:28:49
know people making threads about me
  • 00:28:51
making tweets about me with hundreds of
  • 00:28:53
comments at times or several comments um
  • 00:28:55
and that's something that the average
  • 00:28:56
player is not going to have happen to
  • 00:28:58
them right uh so I think that's
  • 00:29:00
something you have to really uh keep in
  • 00:29:01
mind when listening to what I'm saying
  • 00:29:03
and uh think about that if you're one of
  • 00:29:06
those people that's like well I've not
  • 00:29:07
had that experience it's like well yeah
  • 00:29:08
you you haven't had that experience
  • 00:29:10
before because you're not under a
  • 00:29:11
    spotlight i really think that's a big
  • 00:29:12
reason towards it um outside of that
  • 00:29:15
though for like the not a welcoming
  • 00:29:17
environment I mean there's small things
  • 00:29:18
that I guess you could say collectively
  • 00:29:20
add up to be like a like a nail in the
  • 00:29:22
coffin kind of thing like collectively
  • 00:29:24
rather than like um you know like like
  • 00:29:27
it being a big thing for me um I mean
  • 00:29:30
just as early back when I first
  • 00:29:31
discovered there was even dance game
  • 00:29:33
communities uh I went on a forum posted
  • 00:29:36
a score because I didn't know if it was
  • 00:29:37
good or not i was curious like hey how
  • 00:29:39
do other people how are other people's
  • 00:29:40
scores on this kind of chart and I
  • 00:29:42
    didn't I legitimately didn't know turned
  • 00:29:44
out to be a world record actually at the
  • 00:29:46
time it was really really funny and
  • 00:29:47
people were like who the is this
  • 00:29:49
guy um but then they word got around
  • 00:29:52
eventually because I let them know that
  • 00:29:53
my mom and dad purchased a machine for
  • 00:29:55
me for one of my birthdays and that was
  • 00:29:58
keep in mind this is my first exposure
  • 00:29:59
to uh any sort of community online and a
  • 00:30:03
bunch of people dogpiled on me and
  • 00:30:05
belittled me made fun of me taunted me
  • 00:30:08
for my being rich and my mom and dad uh
  • 00:30:12
you know mommy and daddy buying uh
  • 00:30:14
buying me a cabinet and it's just like
  • 00:30:17
that was my first exposure it's like wow
  • 00:30:19
like judging somebody because they have
  • 00:30:22
parents that care about them enough and
  • 00:30:25
are uh lucky enough to have the funds
  • 00:30:27
that they worked very hard for to buy
  • 00:30:29
their their son that they love a cabinet
  • 00:30:32
and again it just stems out of uh
  • 00:30:34
    jealousy jealousy and bitterness and
  • 00:30:37
resentment that's the the biggest thing
  • 00:30:39
that you could really take out of this
  • 00:30:40
video is like when it comes to all the
  • 00:30:41
bias stuff and all these things like
  • 00:30:43
these people that we're talking about
  • 00:30:45
even if they're in the minority um it
  • 00:30:47
doesn't matter they exist and they're
  • 00:30:48
they are there and you you hear more
  • 00:30:51
from them uh the more popular you are
  • 00:30:53
and also if you don't align with uh
  • 00:30:56
    different political topics or different
  • 00:30:58
uh different uh ideologies or whatever
  • 00:31:01
have you um and it all just stems out of
  • 00:31:04
    bitterness they're unhappy they're
  • 00:31:06
jealous they're miserable people so they
  • 00:31:08
go online and they attack people and
  • 00:31:10
will bring them down or try to bring
  • 00:31:12
them down to their level of misery
  • 00:31:14
because they're not satisfied with their
  • 00:31:16
    own life
  • 00:31:17
    um that
  • 00:31:19
covers the lack of competitive integrity
  • 00:31:21
reasons uh the next category this is
  • 00:31:24
going to be a lot shorter I feel like um
  • 00:31:26
unless I end up ranting like an old man
  • 00:31:27
yelling at a cloud on this but uh these
  • 00:31:29
are just additional reasons um that are
  • 00:31:31
outside of lack of competitive integrity
  • 00:31:34
um so number one socks and skinners are
  • 00:31:36
banned at a lot of events um I say a lot
  • 00:31:39
but again I could be wrong uh I've heard
  • 00:31:41
through word of mouth of different
  • 00:31:42
people that are currently going to
  • 00:31:43
events where u they either were banned
  • 00:31:46
    or they're being discussed about
  • 00:31:47
possibly being banned um I separated
  • 00:31:50
these from the lack of compet
  • 00:31:51
    competitive integrity because again um
  • 00:31:54
even though that was the case for some
  • 00:31:55
things in the in that category uh this
  • 00:31:58
is another example of it's not the to's
  • 00:31:59
fault all the time some to sure might
  • 00:32:02
choose to do that um but majority of the
  • 00:32:05
time from what I'm hearing it's round
  • 00:32:07
one round one is they round one has been
  • 00:32:10
very vocal about trying to get rid of
  • 00:32:12
socks and skinners socks especially but
  • 00:32:14
Skinners I remember when I popularized
  • 00:32:17
Skinners excuse me um I went to round
  • 00:32:20
one and so many times the employees
  • 00:32:23
would just be on my ass of like "Hey no
  • 00:32:25
socks." And I had to show them the
  • 00:32:26
    bottom like it's a shoe like it's it's a
  • 00:32:29
shoe man had to pull I had to
  • 00:32:30
bring at one point I had to bring in uh
  • 00:32:33
the physical uh box for the Skinners and
  • 00:32:36
show them like this is what it is and
  • 00:32:38
eventually they got off my ass but that
  • 00:32:40
was way back before co man uh and to
  • 00:32:43
    this day apparently they're still
  • 00:32:44
getting on to telling to like hey socks
  • 00:32:48
and skinners are not allowed so again
  • 00:32:49
it's not the to's fault uh it's just
  • 00:32:53
it's one of those things again where
  • 00:32:55
it's like it's just the way it is not
  • 00:32:57
always but most of the time um next
  • 00:33:00
point small cash prize this one honestly
  • 00:33:02
it's not a big thing for me personally
  • 00:33:05
it's not like the end- all beall um so
  • 00:33:08
to speak but it's just I'm adding like
  • 00:33:10
whether it's a small reason or a big
  • 00:33:12
reason at the end of the day it's still
  • 00:33:13
a reason right uh small cash prize so it
  • 00:33:16
my argument for this is why why compete
  • 00:33:19
if there's no major cash prize i mean
  • 00:33:21
what's the reasoning behind it i mean
  • 00:33:24
for fun okay that makes sense there's
  • 00:33:25
plenty of people that enter events and
  • 00:33:27
just want to have fun and again more
  • 00:33:28
power to you i get it but if you're
  • 00:33:30
talking about like the competitive side
  • 00:33:32
of it right if you're like tryh harding
  • 00:33:34
and trying to actually you know win the
  • 00:33:36
event it's like what are you getting out
  • 00:33:38
of it like think about it that's the
  • 00:33:40
question I want to ask uh to you guys
  • 00:33:42
like think about it from a not not a
  • 00:33:44
    casual perspective but a competitive
  • 00:33:47
perspective what do you get out of
  • 00:33:49
winning these events at most a couple
  • 00:33:51
hundred bucks if that it's like that
  • 00:33:53
doesn't even pay for your flight if it's
  • 00:33:55
local okay cool i mean a couple hundred
  • 00:33:57
bucks but what else are you getting out
  • 00:33:59
of that let's let's put the the prize
  • 00:34:00
money aside right let's just say there's
  • 00:34:02
no prize pool because some events don't
  • 00:34:04
have prize pools because they can't fund
  • 00:34:05
it or they don't want to charge people
  • 00:34:06
for entering or whatever the reason
  • 00:34:08
right um then what is it for it kind of
  • 00:34:11
ties back into uh my previous video uh
  • 00:34:14
where I was talking about like
  • 00:34:15
validation and uh just wanting to be
  • 00:34:17
accepted and uh chasing for that high
  • 00:34:19
online uh it can it can be the case and
  • 00:34:22
I feel like it is for most people um
  • 00:34:25
again you guys can correct me if I'm
  • 00:34:26
wrong or if you feel like you're one of
  • 00:34:28
those people um there was a lot of
  • 00:34:29
people in the previous video that were
  • 00:34:31
actually in agreement and saying you
  • 00:34:32
know you're right you know I feel so
  • 00:34:34
called out but that's me i'm that guy
  • 00:34:36
chasing after that high online and I
  • 00:34:38
really need to check myself maybe it's
  • 00:34:40
the same case for maybe it could be
  • 00:34:42
small pool of people average amount of
  • 00:34:45
people or maybe majority of people feel
  • 00:34:46
that way let me know seriously um but
  • 00:34:49
like what's the reason that you'd want
  • 00:34:50
to compete on a serious competitive
  • 00:34:53
level in these events what do you get
  • 00:34:55
out of it is is it that validation of
  • 00:34:58
wanting to feel accepted and like fit in
  • 00:35:01
with different clicks that are in this
  • 00:35:02
community uh inevitably I mean it's in
  • 00:35:05
every community there's always a click
  • 00:35:06
there's always the cool kids and always
  • 00:35:08
the outcasts and this and that is that
  • 00:35:10
the reason you're trying to climb the
  • 00:35:11
ranks of like the social ranks of being
  • 00:35:13
accepted and being acknowledged that you
  • 00:35:15
exist because again I can tell you again
  • 00:35:17
    from firsthand experience you're never
  • 00:35:20
going to get it you'll never get it i
  • 00:35:23
can't tell you how many people like try
  • 00:35:25
to uh it's a minority group of people
  • 00:35:27
granted but there are they're very vocal
  • 00:35:30
to try to diminish my achievements in
  • 00:35:32
the past on past games and on this game
  • 00:35:35
try to ignore my existence and act like
  • 00:35:38
I'm just not there because they don't
  • 00:35:40
like me that much they do not want to
  • 00:35:42
talk about me they don't want to
  • 00:35:44
acknowledge scores that I've gotten if
  • 00:35:46
my name comes up they cringe at the very
  • 00:35:49
thought of it it's like it's just again
  • 00:35:52
really really sad i've had it I've had
  • 00:35:53
it go as far as people have banned my
  • 00:35:55
name in their Twitch chats not going to
  • 00:35:57
name drop people for any of these these
  • 00:35:59
examples that I've brought up before
  • 00:36:00
like events and things that have
  • 00:36:02
    happened with interactions with that
  • 00:36:03
that's not what this is about this isn't
  • 00:36:04
going to The whole point of this video
  • 00:36:06
is to give you my reasons not to start
  • 00:36:07
drama not to cause conflicts um not to
  • 00:36:10
get pitchforks out and do all this you
  • 00:36:11
know defending and white knighting for
  • 00:36:13
me i I don't want any of that i'm simply
  • 00:36:15
just telling you my story and my
  • 00:36:17
experience and that's that uh where was
  • 00:36:20
I small cash prize i I went into depth
  • 00:36:23
about that but yeah my point was like
  • 00:36:24
what is the point like what are you
  • 00:36:26
really getting out of it you get a cool
  • 00:36:27
little trophy and then you put in your
  • 00:36:28
garage and then people it kind of goes
  • 00:36:30
back to the title grind people like how
  • 00:36:33
long is that going to hold up for let's
  • 00:36:35
just say you win an event like the big
  • 00:36:37
one i we'll use arguably the most
  • 00:36:39
popular and most um uh uh what's the
  • 00:36:43
word uh taken serious event out there
  • 00:36:46
right now in this day and age for Pump
  • 00:36:47
It Up is the big one and again no
  • 00:36:49
disrespect to this event but let's just
  • 00:36:52
say you win what do you get out of it i
  • 00:36:54
think the prize is a ticket to the next
  • 00:36:56
like a a plane ticket to the next event
  • 00:36:58
i could be wrong uh correct me if I'm
  • 00:37:00
wrong that's what I've heard um but if
  • 00:37:03
you win right for the social aspect how
  • 00:37:06
long does that last of you getting
  • 00:37:08
glazed by everybody online like "Oh my
  • 00:37:10
god this and that." It's not that long
  • 00:37:12
and then it's going to be forgotten so
  • 00:37:14
quick it'll be so quickly forgotten that
  • 00:37:16
it literally happened this way where
  • 00:37:18
Zafra won I think it was 23 2023 big one
  • 00:37:21
zafra won and everybody went crazy
  • 00:37:24
because it was it was such a crazy event
  • 00:37:26
because um for the average person you
  • 00:37:27
know they're all expecting FMS to win
  • 00:37:29
and he ended up losing um that's a whole
  • 00:37:31
other topic that I'm going to get into
  • 00:37:32
shortly after this point because that
  • 00:37:35
has a lot of issues too um but anywh who
  • 00:37:38
Zafrada wins 2023 big one right what
  • 00:37:41
happens uh on the last one that happened
  • 00:37:42
2024 uh there was a huge tournament
  • 00:37:44
upset he dropped the hold on uh uh I
  • 00:37:47
don't know the name of it it's one of
  • 00:37:48
the D24s at the very end and he dropped
  • 00:37:50
it and then it knocked him out of the
  • 00:37:52
tournament and what happened he got me'd
  • 00:37:56
on shhat on online i I saw it firsthand
  • 00:37:59
during the live stream in the live chat
  • 00:38:00
and on social media people were just
  • 00:38:03
taunting him belittling him memeing on
  • 00:38:06
him really hard not even like in a
  • 00:38:07
friendly way like very very like rude
  • 00:38:10
    brutal comments and I I I don't have
  • 00:38:12
direct contact with Zafrada but I have
  • 00:38:14
um the person who owns the PIU House
  • 00:38:16
Chile channel uh I I don't remember his
  • 00:38:19
name but he owns the the cabinet that's
  • 00:38:21
at that house that they live stream at
  • 00:38:23
um he was like my middleman so to speak
  • 00:38:25
where I would reach out to him to kind
  • 00:38:27
of get in touch with Zafrada um never
  • 00:38:29
met the guy but he seems really really
  • 00:38:31
humble and really like a really genuine
  • 00:38:32
guy so after that happened I actually
  • 00:38:34
messaged this person and said "Hey like
  • 00:38:36
I'm just checking up on Zafra i want to
  • 00:38:38
make sure he's feeling okay mentally
  • 00:38:39
because like he's got to feel awful
  • 00:38:41
man." Like I I mean that's this is again
  • 00:38:44
something that people don't talk about
  • 00:38:45
is the mental um the psychological stuff
  • 00:38:48
that can happen for um especially top
  • 00:38:50
ranked players that have they're again
  • 00:38:51
under a spotlight um they people are
  • 00:38:54
very harsh to critique um it's not even
  • 00:38:57
critiquing it's just on you um
  • 00:39:00
people will jump and dog pile on you
  • 00:39:02
when you fail uh or you make one mistake
  • 00:39:06
uh and especially under tournament uh uh
  • 00:39:09
format this happened with uh Franco at
  • 00:39:12
Bite apparently there was a couple
  • 00:39:14
people that actually came to Avalanche
  • 00:39:15
and we eventually got on this topic
  • 00:39:17
funny enough with tournaments and they
  • 00:39:19
actually told me their story about oh
  • 00:39:20
yeah I was there watching Franco play at
  • 00:39:22
bite and he lost to another and people
  • 00:39:24
in the uh in the crowd were like talking
  • 00:39:27
to each other about how Franco's washed
  • 00:39:29
and he's bad and this and that and it's
  • 00:39:33
just again like like what the is
  • 00:39:36
wrong with you man like what the the the
  • 00:39:39
thought process of that like what what
  • 00:39:42
what's what's what goes on in your head
  • 00:39:44
to feel the need to to belittle somebody
  • 00:39:47
    that's a human being and you're treating
  • 00:39:50
them like like some AI robot that's just
  • 00:39:53
a walking YouTube video of PGing
  • 00:39:55
everything that's that's what it feels
  • 00:39:57
like again speaking from a top player
  • 00:39:59
perspective I've come across a lot of
  • 00:40:01
people that that treat me like that like
  • 00:40:03
they treat me like um like Happy Feets
  • 00:40:06
and not Seth if that makes sense um and
  • 00:40:09
they they treat me like I'm just like
  • 00:40:12
this uh this person that my my entire
  • 00:40:16
identity is just pump it up and I have
  • 00:40:18
no other hobbies no other interests and
  • 00:40:21
that's it and it's very uh uh it's very
  • 00:40:24
    unfortunate i mean I just I I wish
  • 00:40:27
people would you know uh when they have
  • 00:40:29
the opportunity to talk to me one-on-one
  • 00:40:30
in person like just talk about different
  • 00:40:32
things and like have like a normal type
  • 00:40:34
of conversation instead of just pump it
  • 00:40:36
up uh slightly off topic apologize but
  • 00:40:39
yeah going back to what I was saying
  • 00:40:40
Franco at Bite when he lost huge huge
  • 00:40:42
tournament upset everyone was uh not
  • 00:40:44
everyone but a handful of people in the
  • 00:40:46
crowd were taunting him belittling him
  • 00:40:48
uh according to the person that was
  • 00:40:50
there physically at the event in the
  • 00:40:51
crowd uh when Fam's lost to Safrada same
  • 00:40:54
thing happened when Fam's lost at uh WPF
  • 00:40:57
in 2016 same thing happened to him uh I
  • 00:41:00
saw it firsthand uh when uh Oin
  • 00:41:05
uh or Osen I don't or Oriu Iver passed
  • 00:41:08
1949 28 first um he was the first person
  • 00:41:13
to pass it bunch of fem fanboys went on
  • 00:41:16
that YouTube video that originally was
  • 00:41:17
uploaded it got deleted or taken down um
  • 00:41:20
but eventually I he re-uploaded it way
  • 00:41:22
later but at the time he got literally
  • 00:41:25
bullied into taking down the video
  • 00:41:27
because people were saying things like
  • 00:41:29
"Oh this isn't legit fem is better than
  • 00:41:31
you this and that fem did it more
  • 00:41:33
legit." Blah blah blah just stupidity
  • 00:41:36
    stupid comments complete nonsense purely
  • 00:41:38
out of ignorance and uh bitterness uh
  • 00:41:43
jealousy whatever you want to call it
  • 00:41:44
it's all the same reasoning behind it uh
  • 00:41:47
and it's just really sad to see it's
  • 00:41:49
It's really upsetting that people are
  • 00:41:51
are this uh harsh towards uh one another
  • 00:41:55
regardless of their skill and I mean I
  • 00:41:57
find it more amusing when it's people
  • 00:41:59
that are criticizing top ranked players
  • 00:42:01
like Franco uh FMS Aphrada uh myself and
  • 00:42:06
    plenty of other people they're
  • 00:42:07
    criticizing those people when they're
  • 00:42:09
nowhere near the level that they're
  • 00:42:11
performing at even when they're having a
  • 00:42:13
bad day and it's just like who are you
  • 00:42:15
to say these kind of things i'm going to
  • 00:42:18
say too like the rebuttal for what I'm
  • 00:42:19
talking about right now is going to be
  • 00:42:21
    just ignore it they're
  • 00:42:22
    haters it's I I got to say I I do agree
  • 00:42:28
with you that at the end of the day like
  • 00:42:30
you do have to just get the thick skin
  • 00:42:32
and just deal with it because it just
  • 00:42:34
comes with that ter it's just part of
  • 00:42:35
the territory uh you are right on that
  • 00:42:38
but at the end of the day we're all
  • 00:42:40
human beings right think about hearing
  • 00:42:43
that for over a decade like at this
  • 00:42:47
point in my life like 15 years uh over
  • 00:42:50
and over and over and over i don't care
  • 00:42:52
who you are eventually it will get to
  • 00:42:55
you and you will break down sooner or
  • 00:42:56
later um and it's it 100% it has
  • 00:43:00
happened to me uh quite often in the
  • 00:43:01
past thankfully uh nowadays I've gotten
  • 00:43:04
a lot more uh confident and feel a lot
  • 00:43:06
more better uh but still human being
  • 00:43:09
right it plenty of days where it will
  • 00:43:11
get to me but the difference is I'll get
  • 00:43:13
back on my feet and move forward but uh
  • 00:43:16
when it comes to I think I covered all
  • 00:43:18
that stuff right uh arch critic uh yeah
  • 00:43:22
Franco by FMS Aphrada big one losses
  • 00:43:26
yeah those are the exam and then WPF for
  • 00:43:28
FMS um so that that that all came in
  • 00:43:31
from the point of everyone's a harsh
  • 00:43:32
critic and this ties into my other video
  • 00:43:35
I just uploaded about mental health um
  • 00:43:37
this is something that I really feel I
  • 00:43:38
need to make it very very clear to
  • 00:43:40
    people because they they misunderstand
  • 00:43:42
and it's not their fault um because it's
  • 00:43:45
just they don't know any better so let
  • 00:43:46
me just uh make this very clear to you
  • 00:43:51
when when double XX uh had the uh the
  • 00:43:54
content drought during COVID and also
  • 00:43:57
the data wipe uh that was pretty much
  • 00:43:59
the nail in the coffin for me like that
  • 00:44:00
was like the finale that I felt like
  • 00:44:02
where I was like I I lost a lot of
  • 00:44:04
motivation and a lot of drive to want to
  • 00:44:07
you know keep playing so I took a
  • 00:44:08
    two-year break um I thought I was done i
  • 00:44:11
really did uh during that two years like
  • 00:44:13
I I didn't have any intention of playing
  • 00:44:15
    again i couldn't believe it because I've
  • 00:44:17
played dance games since I was 8 years
  • 00:44:18
old i'm 34 years old now um but Phoenix
  • 00:44:22
came out um and I saw the scoring system
  • 00:44:25
and it really intrigued me and it caught
  • 00:44:27
my uh attention and I I decided to get
  • 00:44:33
back into it and you know I had to uh
  • 00:44:36
dust and brush off the cobwebs so to
  • 00:44:38
speak and uh surprise to to color me
  • 00:44:42
shocked i actually had a lot of fun when
  • 00:44:45
I was first getting back into it i
  • 00:44:46
bought the obviously I bought the uh
  • 00:44:47
hard drive for Phoenix and but the the
  • 00:44:51
thing was that I really want to hone in
  • 00:44:53
on was when I got back into it I went in
  • 00:44:56
with a new perspective a new
  • 00:44:58
mentality um and that mentality was I'm
  • 00:45:01
going to play this game for my mental
  • 00:45:03
health and my physical health um you
  • 00:45:06
know I've been through every well I want
  • 00:45:09
to say been through it's still going on
  • 00:45:11
right now it's not finalized but I'm
  • 00:45:12
I've been divorced uh as of 2022 and
  • 00:45:16
there's a lot of mental uh stress that
  • 00:45:19
comes with a divorce i'm If you haven't
  • 00:45:21
been through one I'm sure you could just
  • 00:45:23
use your imagination uh been through a
  • 00:45:25
lot of stress with the divorce situation
  • 00:45:27
um a lot of online drama in my lifetime
  • 00:45:30
especially during my divorce and just a
  • 00:45:33
lot of toxicity uh again a very
  • 00:45:36
unwelcoming environment and so when I
  • 00:45:38
got back into pump I used it as a uh uh
  • 00:45:42
what's the word uh a resource I guess or
  • 00:45:44
like a hobby uh to prioritize my mental
  • 00:45:47
and physical health um those are the two
  • 00:45:50
um main reasons that I'm playing Pump It
  • 00:45:54
Up now it just so happens that I still
  • 00:45:58
have my talent alongside with that and
  • 00:46:01
so I feel like a lot of people are
  • 00:46:03
    misunderstanding my intention for
  • 00:46:05
playing which is partially why they're
  • 00:46:08
asking me constantly online whether it's
  • 00:46:10
directly or just in general of hey why
  • 00:46:12
don't you compete in tournaments why
  • 00:46:13
don't you compete in tournaments when
  • 00:46:14
are you going to go to the big one when
  • 00:46:16
are you going to go here when you go
  • 00:46:17
there um again it's flattering um and I
  • 00:46:20
I get uh it's it's out of good faith too
  • 00:46:23
you know I don't I'm not trying to shun
  • 00:46:25
shun people that are that ask these
  • 00:46:26
questions or bring me up in these these
  • 00:46:28
topics or conversations or whatever have
  • 00:46:30
you i totally understand it i don't have
  • 00:46:32
a problem with it um because again they
  • 00:46:34
don't know any better um but I'm trying
  • 00:46:36
to that that's why I want to make this
  • 00:46:38
video and bring it out is shed some
  • 00:46:39
    light
  • 00:46:41
on pretty much all the reasons I have
  • 00:46:43
there could be like one or two small
  • 00:46:44
thing I'm forgetting about but all the
  • 00:46:46
core reasons as to why I personally
  • 00:46:48
don't take competitions for Pump It Up
  • 00:46:50
in particular or just dance games as a
  • 00:46:53
whole seriously for all the reasons that
  • 00:46:55
I've given you um and I prioritize my
  • 00:46:58
mental and physical health um because of
  • 00:47:00
all the things that I've gone through in
  • 00:47:01
the last couple years uh especially but
  • 00:47:04
uh as a whole since 2009 give or take
  • 00:47:07
since I first got introduced to the
  • 00:47:08
community um I had a very uh a very bad
  • 00:47:11
    first impression
  • 00:47:13
uh and had a lot of bad uh uh things
  • 00:47:16
that happened after that multiple times
  • 00:47:18
and uh it just wasn't welcoming it
  • 00:47:21
wasn't welcoming and it was a huge
  • 00:47:22
turnoff and it has led me to stay away
  • 00:47:25
from a bunch of major events for all the
  • 00:47:27
reasons I've listed and I mean even if
  • 00:47:30
those things were an issue granted those
  • 00:47:32
are the main issue of those those
  • 00:47:34
experiences that I've lived and dealt
  • 00:47:36
with um but the additional reasons too
  • 00:47:38
are also valid um but those are like
  • 00:47:41
more of the the smaller reasons so to
  • 00:47:43
    speak
  • 00:47:44
um I think I've covered everything that
  • 00:47:47
I've wanted to that I feel like I needed
  • 00:47:49
to get off my chest for it um looking at
  • 00:47:52
my notes here I've covered all my bullet
  • 00:47:54
points i mean all I have left is the
  • 00:47:55
conclusion section and I mean I again I
  • 00:47:58
think I sound like a broken record but I
  • 00:48:00
I just for people that are skipping
  • 00:48:02
through it I do want to uh acknowledge
  • 00:48:05
again that there are so many people in
  • 00:48:09
this community that are great majority
  • 00:48:11
of people in this community are very uh
  • 00:48:15
    supportive positive people uh there's
  • 00:48:18
plenty of tournament organizers that put
  • 00:48:19
their blood sweat and tears into their
  • 00:48:21
events that they host and they do a
  • 00:48:23
phenomenal job uh again there's only so
  • 00:48:26
much as a community there's only so much
  • 00:48:28
that to people that are trying to you
  • 00:48:31
know help better the scene um can do
  • 00:48:35
there there really is just it's it's a
  • 00:48:37
shitty reality because of the nature of
  • 00:48:40
the games um so again I I want people to
  • 00:48:43
hear me say that I do acknowledge that
  • 00:48:46
it is not entirely the TE's fault the
  • 00:48:48
bias people are outliers um but
  • 00:48:51
unfortunately I've come across a lot of
  • 00:48:53
that through my lifetime of playing
  • 00:48:55
these games and attending certain events
  • 00:48:57
    um and it's just unfortunate it's it's
  • 00:49:00
unfortunate uh that it's happened but it
  • 00:49:02
has happened but yeah I want to
  • 00:49:04
acknowledge that and give a shout out to
  • 00:49:05
the all the to and all the people that
  • 00:49:07
are that are great and that have put in
  • 00:49:09
a lot of uh a lot of work into these
  • 00:49:11
events um second point already got
  • 00:49:14
    across
  • 00:49:15
that uh oh the last thing was like the
  • 00:49:18
hands being tied with like time because
  • 00:49:20
of the facilities but also the um the
  • 00:49:22
access to cabs not everyone can go get
  • 00:49:24
you know in a perfect world let's get
  • 00:49:26
you know six cabinets LX cabinets all
  • 00:49:28
lined up and have you know a big
  • 00:49:30
    tournament bracket you know $10,000
  • 00:49:33
prize pool pay for people's flights that
  • 00:49:36
can't afford it you know all this crazy
  • 00:49:38
stuff get crazy big sponsorships uh get
  • 00:49:41
thousands of viewers on Twitch for these
  • 00:49:43
live streams or on YouTube uh you know h
  • 00:49:46
have like half of the cabinets for
  • 00:49:48
running the event like like let's just
  • 00:49:51
say let's say I'm trying to think here
  • 00:49:52
like eight LX cabinets right uh let's
  • 00:49:56
see here two for all right so like two
  • 00:50:00
are for the singles two are for the
  • 00:50:01
double so that's four cabinets and then
  • 00:50:02
the other four can be for warm-up like
  • 00:50:04
two for like single warm-ups two for
  • 00:50:06
doubles or you know whatever have you
  • 00:50:08
    like that's in a completely
  • 00:50:10
like like la land like good luck ever
  • 00:50:13
    getting there right it's just it's it's
  • 00:50:15
probably never going to happen but that
  • 00:50:17
would be really cool wouldn't it that'd
  • 00:50:18
be really cool if that actually did uh
  • 00:50:20
exist in in a perfect world but alas we
  • 00:50:22
do not live in a perfect uh utopia uh so
  • 00:50:28
I think that's uh that's about it how
  • 00:50:30
long is this video oh my god it's almost
  • 00:50:32
an hour long it's funny i was like
  • 00:50:34
thinking to myself all right it's going
  • 00:50:35
to be like 20 minutes but nope way
  • 00:50:38
    longer but I think it's it's it's for
  • 00:50:40
the better um because I I I feel better
  • 00:50:43
now like getting off my chest and
  • 00:50:45
talking about all these things and
  • 00:50:47
having it uh you know with my face just
  • 00:50:50
on camera full screen getting all my
  • 00:50:52
thoughts out and just venting uh to you
  • 00:50:55
guys that are watching and just hearing
  • 00:50:58
out what I have to say with what my
  • 00:51:00
experiences and what I've gone through
  • 00:51:02
with all this stuff it is unfortunate
  • 00:51:04
    but um again I don't want pity i don't
  • 00:51:06
want uh white knighting i don't want or
  • 00:51:09
whatever you want to call it i don't
  • 00:51:10
want uh you know empathy or any of that
  • 00:51:13
stuff i'm I'm not here for you know wo
  • 00:51:14
is me playing like Eeyore you know I'm
  • 00:51:17
not that's not it's not my character
  • 00:51:19
it's not what I want to do uh just want
  • 00:51:21
to clear the air and give you like
  • 00:51:24
upfront reasoning why I personally don't
  • 00:51:26
take them seriously um and I see them
  • 00:51:28
more as a joke in my opinion and I uh I
  • 00:51:32
have a lot of problems with them and
  • 00:51:33
give you all the reasons as to why I
  • 00:51:35
feel that way and you could completely
  • 00:51:36
disagree with me you can I'm sure it's
  • 00:51:38
going to happen there's going to be
  • 00:51:39
plenty of haters that are going to
  • 00:51:40
cherrypick and try to criticize but it
  • 00:51:43
just solidifies my point of you know
  • 00:51:45
harsh critics that are uh not coming out
  • 00:51:47
of good faith they're not doing it out
  • 00:51:49
of good faith they're doing it out of
  • 00:51:50
hate of I don't like happy feeds for XYZ
  • 00:51:53
and whatever have you i mean that's just
  • 00:51:56
how it goes but anyway uh thank you for
  • 00:51:58
watching and listening if you made it
  • 00:52:00
all the way through the video without
  • 00:52:01
skipping I I salute you i honestly that
  • 00:52:04
that is impressive um share your
  • 00:52:07
thoughts please share your thoughts in
  • 00:52:08
the comments if you've experienced any
  • 00:52:10
anything with uh like this please let me
  • 00:52:14
know i'm genuinely curious i do think I
  • 00:52:16
    I I feel like uh I know that it's a
  • 00:52:19
minority thing for sure and that's a
  • 00:52:21
good thing that is a very good thing um
  • 00:52:23
and it is inevitable uh no matter what
  • 00:52:26
scene you're talking about um I feel
  • 00:52:28
like it's just I feel like it's more
  • 00:52:30
apparent in this scene because of how
  • 00:52:33
niche and small it is does that make
  • 00:52:35
sense so there's not there's not as many
  • 00:52:37
people in in this genre so it's more
  • 00:52:40
apparent uh because it's it's smaller
  • 00:52:43
versus something like you know let's
  • 00:52:45
just Overwatch or League of Legends or
  • 00:52:47
something that's huge right um maybe
  • 00:52:51
it's not as noticeable or maybe it's the
  • 00:52:52
    opposite because there's more people
  • 00:52:54
with more therefore more toxicity i
  • 00:52:56
    don't know i don't know what I'm getting
  • 00:52:57
at but you you probably get what I'm
  • 00:52:58
trying to say i digress uh thanks for
  • 00:53:00
watching uh I'll catch you guys in the
  • 00:53:02
next video uh and thanks for all the
  • 00:53:03
support on uh all these uh like talking
  • 00:53:06
videos it really honestly motivated me
  • 00:53:09
and like I've been wanting to make this
  • 00:53:10
video for so long but I just never got
  • 00:53:12
around to it didn't feel all that
  • 00:53:14
confident in the past like I mentioned
  • 00:53:15
but I just feel a lot more confident uh
  • 00:53:17
I feel a lot more better mentally um I'm
  • 00:53:20
in a much better place mentally now than
  • 00:53:23
where I was uh even just like three or
  • 00:53:25
four years ago uh it's crazy to think
  • 00:53:27
about but anywh who uh thanks for
  • 00:53:29
watching i'll catch you guys in the next
  • 00:53:30
video and y'all have a great day and God
  • 00:53:32
    bless bye guys
