00:00:00
do you feel like you're living life on a
00:00:01
beat scrolling social media stuck in bad
00:00:04
habits and never hitting your goals well
00:00:06
10 years ago I was making $55,000 a year
00:00:08
completely overwhelmed and stuck today
00:00:11
I've co-founded a multi-million dollar
00:00:13
business and truly live the life that I
00:00:15
once dreamed of so if you're ready to
00:00:16
cut off the old version of yourself and
00:00:18
build the life that you've been dreaming
00:00:20
of here's exactly where to start
00:00:21
decision decision decision the first and
00:00:24
most important step to getting unstuck
00:00:27
is to understand that the old version of
00:00:28
you doesn't exist exist anymore unless
00:00:31
you choose to stay stuck you have to cut
00:00:34
off the person that you are right now to
00:00:36
become the person that you want to be so
00:00:38
how do you actually do this you see I
00:00:40
love to look up the derivation of words
00:00:43
and the derivation of the word decision
00:00:46
is to cut off which means you're no
00:00:49
longer the person that you were
00:00:50
yesterday if you have made a decision to
00:00:52
change that person doesn't exist imagine
00:00:55
if your car got stolen the next day you
00:00:57
couldn't wake up be able to use your old
00:00:59
vehicle in order to get to where you're
00:01:00
trying to go you'd have to come up with
00:01:02
some different solution you'd have to
00:01:03
take a bike you'd have to Uber maybe
00:01:05
you're walking you no longer have your
00:01:08
car as your option to travel now think
00:01:10
about this as a decision for you to
00:01:12
change your life if you're going to
00:01:14
become a person who works out every
00:01:15
single day or a person who is a badass
00:01:17
at sales or somebody who reads books and
00:01:20
is very well- read and articulate all of
00:01:22
a sudden if you decide to be that person
00:01:24
you are no longer the person that
00:01:26
doesn't do those things that person
00:01:28
doesn't exist any longer so you have to
00:01:29
to start making decisions as if you are
00:01:32
that new person because guess what you
00:01:34
are all because you made the decision
00:01:37
now once you've made the decision let's
00:01:38
make your environment easier so if you
00:01:41
know that you doom scroll on Tik Tok set
00:01:44
a policy make it so that moving forward
00:01:46
you have your screen time locked on your
00:01:48
phone you cannot scroll on Tik Tok for
00:01:50
longer than 5 minutes when you make
00:01:51
subtle changes like this to actually
00:01:53
change your environment you're doubling
00:01:55
down on the decision for you not to be
00:01:58
the old version of yourself so your
00:02:00
environment matters and the choices that
00:02:02
you need to make in order to get there
00:02:04
really matter and guess what they can be
00:02:06
small little tweaks being a whole
00:02:07
different version of you doesn't mean
00:02:08
that everything in your life changes but
00:02:10
the things that matter that you need to
00:02:12
make progress on have to happen today
00:02:15
and that decision has to be now my
00:02:17
second step to getting unstuck is to
00:02:19
ruin myself with disappointment in me
00:02:23
disappointment is the wakeup call that
00:02:25
you have been avoiding do not listen to
00:02:27
all of those nice memes and those fun
00:02:29
Tik toks that make you feel like you
00:02:31
should accept yourself and be okay with
00:02:33
yourself the way that you are if you're
00:02:34
disappointed because you know that you
00:02:36
have more in you you know that you could
00:02:38
impact more people you know you have
00:02:40
this great potential and instead you're
00:02:41
wasting it be freaking disappointed you
00:02:43
shouldn't feel good about yourself why
00:02:45
would you feel good about yourself
00:02:46
you're not living into what is possible
00:02:48
for you once you know that you're
00:02:50
unhappy with the way that your life
00:02:51
looks you can make that change but don't
00:02:53
Sugar Code it don't tell yourself lies
00:02:55
that you should just love yourself the
00:02:57
way that you are and give yourself a big
00:02:59
hug don't listen to that be
00:03:02
disappointed accept the disappointment
00:03:04
and take action my parents used to drag
00:03:06
me to a dinner every single year with a
00:03:08
family friend and this family friend was
00:03:11
very well educated very well read and
00:03:14
Incredibly successful but I hated going
00:03:16
to the dinner because he made me feel
00:03:17
bad about myself the amount of news that
00:03:20
he would read every single day would
00:03:21
remind me that instead of reading the
00:03:23
news I was watching television the way
00:03:25
that he would articulate questions and
00:03:26
his opinions would make me feel
00:03:28
uncomfortable because I realized I
00:03:29
didn't have an opinion because I didn't
00:03:31
even know what the freak he was talking
00:03:32
about he was so involved in politics and
00:03:35
what was happening in the world and I
00:03:37
realized I don't know the things that I
00:03:39
could know and that I really feel like I
00:03:41
should know and should be part of those
00:03:42
conversations so after many years of
00:03:44
dinners I finally decided to stop lying
00:03:46
to myself and take action what did I do
00:03:49
I ordered the economist I ordered the
00:03:50
Wall Street Journal to show up to my
00:03:52
house every single day and I became
00:03:53
interested in the news I became
00:03:55
interested in politics so that when I
00:03:57
showed up to dinner the next year I
00:03:58
would actually have opinions you see I
00:04:00
didn't lie to myself saying that those
00:04:01
things aren't important they were
00:04:03
important that brings us to step three
00:04:05
which is to decide what you want your
00:04:06
life to look like you cannot create the
00:04:09
life that you want without knowing what
00:04:11
you want if I'm totally honest I
00:04:13
entirely gave up on my goals for about 3
00:04:15
years I became introverted I just
00:04:18
decided to be stuck in life because I
00:04:20
felt really insecure to be honest and I
00:04:22
was not confident and I was so terrified
00:04:25
of what people thought of me that I just
00:04:26
didn't want to try and I'll never forget
00:04:28
flying to this comp conference and I had
00:04:31
said no to speaking at this conference
00:04:33
because I was scared and I didn't feel
00:04:35
confident but then I was sitting there
00:04:36
in the audience realizing I'm here I
00:04:39
could be participating I could be
00:04:41
contributing but instead my fear of
00:04:43
public speaking my fear of being seen my
00:04:45
fear of maybe people judging me or
00:04:47
criticizing me is going to keep me on
00:04:49
the sidelines and from that moment
00:04:50
forward I was like I'm not going to be
00:04:52
this person I refus to be the person
00:04:54
that doesn't have the life that they
00:04:56
want and so from there I took
00:04:57
accountability and said what do I want
00:05:00
my life to look like and I wrote down
00:05:02
all of my goals what do I want
00:05:04
personally what do I want my fitness
00:05:05
goals to be what do I want my family
00:05:07
goals to be what kind of friends do I
00:05:08
want to have professionally what type of
00:05:11
mentors do I want to bring in what are
00:05:12
the opportunities that I'd like to
00:05:14
create and financially how much money do
00:05:16
I want to make what do I want to
00:05:17
contribute to how could I make a
00:05:18
financial impact on a charity that
00:05:20
really matters to me because if I'm not
00:05:23
confident in myself today and I don't
00:05:25
feel like I can create the life that I
00:05:27
want I'm never going to create the
00:05:29
impact that I could potentially make and
00:05:31
I am put on this planet in order to live
00:05:33
into my potential and I think that you
00:05:35
are too so if you haven't done this
00:05:36
already I would pause this video and I
00:05:38
would take out a piece of paper or maybe
00:05:40
open up your notes app and I would write
00:05:41
down your personal professional and
00:05:43
financial 5year goals this will give you
00:05:46
a picture of who you want to be in the
00:05:47
future so that you can decide to be that
00:05:50
person today step four is the most
00:05:52
important thing you can do because you
00:05:54
have to know for sure that you moving
00:05:57
forward are you making progress daily
00:05:59
that is how you get out of the rut of
00:06:01
having this dream life but actually
00:06:02
feeling like you're making incremental
00:06:04
progress you're seeing wins you're
00:06:07
making a change one of my successful
00:06:09
habits around this is to plan my day the
00:06:11
night before I do not leave my office I
00:06:13
do not leave my place of work or go to
00:06:15
bed without having a full breakdown of
00:06:18
my calendar and where I'm spending my
00:06:19
time the next day make the plan the
00:06:21
night before so when I'm going through
00:06:23
my calendar I'm looking at what
00:06:24
appointments do I have what books am I
00:06:26
reading what podcasts do I need to
00:06:28
listen to How do I spring in little
00:06:30
pieces of future Natalie and make those
00:06:32
deposits today so that I can actually
00:06:34
get those opportunities in the future
00:06:36
because I'm well read on these things
00:06:38
because I'm in the know on what's
00:06:40
happening in the spaces that I'm
00:06:41
interested in going into the progress
00:06:43
you choose to make every single day is
00:06:45
what changes things it is not these big
00:06:47
steps it is the tiny incremental steps
00:06:49
that you make every single day that
00:06:51
change the trajectory of your life to
00:06:53
create the life that you've always
00:06:55
wanted and my hack for this is to
00:06:56
actually graph the things that are the
00:06:59
most important to me because if I can
00:07:01
see on a graph that I'm getting more
00:07:03
hours of sleep every single night that I
00:07:05
am working out consistently and that my
00:07:07
muscle mass is increasing or if I can
00:07:09
see that I'm actually making more money
00:07:11
month over month all of a sudden I feel
00:07:13
better about the growth because I can
00:07:14
see it moving up but if you aren't
00:07:16
graphing and you aren't paying attention
00:07:18
to those movements every day you're
00:07:19
going to feel like you're not getting
00:07:21
any closer and you're going to go back
00:07:22
into your rut so measuring the handful
00:07:25
of things that matter to you changes
00:07:27
everything step five is one of my
00:07:29
favorites and I don't hear people
00:07:30
talking about this wherever you're
00:07:32
currently spending your time stop
00:07:34
spending your time there if you're in a
00:07:35
rut the easiest way to get unstuck in
00:07:38
your life is to get out of your house
00:07:40
your environment dictates the way that
00:07:42
you feel so you're watching a video
00:07:44
right now about how to get unstuck if
00:07:46
you're feeling stuck that means that you
00:07:48
shouldn't stay in the environment where
00:07:49
you are stuck your environment can be
00:07:51
the type of social media that you
00:07:52
interact with your environment can be
00:07:54
the friends that you hang out with the
00:07:55
information that you're reading get out
00:07:58
of your house get out out of those
00:08:00
places where you feel stuck and do that
00:08:02
immediately if you're watching this in a
00:08:04
place where you don't feel great leave
00:08:05
the place that you're currently in and
00:08:07
getting out of your house is one of the
00:08:08
most effective things when you get out
00:08:10
of your house it means that you have to
00:08:11
be around other people back when I was
00:08:13
in college and I would really feel caved
00:08:15
in I would do my homework in my bed I
00:08:17
felt like I was just grinding and that
00:08:19
there was no end in sight my life was
00:08:21
always going to suck I would go and
00:08:22
study at a Starbucks and later on I
00:08:25
learned that the best place to study was
00:08:27
actually a hotel lobby because you were
00:08:28
just in a different environment it was a
00:08:30
different Groove I just felt better
00:08:32
about myself I put on a different outfit
00:08:34
I made my makeup a little bit nicer and
00:08:36
I felt like I was in a place like the
00:08:38
places that I wanted to be in the future
00:08:40
instead of physically being in the place
00:08:43
where I currently feel stuck so think of
00:08:45
ways that you could change your
00:08:46
environment if you currently study at
00:08:47
your house could you study in a library
00:08:49
if you currently work in a space with a
00:08:51
cooworker that you can't stand could you
00:08:52
ask your manager to move there are
00:08:54
creative ways to change your environment
00:08:56
and your environment is everything step
00:08:58
six is to realize realize that
00:09:00
entertainment disguised is education is
00:09:03
why you're not making progress if you
00:09:05
watch a bunch of these videos and you
00:09:07
never do anything after them you have
00:09:09
just substituted traditional
00:09:11
entertainment via Tik Tok or Netflix
00:09:13
with education that you're using as
00:09:16
entertainment and I am a huge culprit of
00:09:19
this I will never forget when I needed
00:09:22
some motivation it was back when I was
00:09:24
in high school I had to study for this
00:09:25
big AP exam I was going to watch this
00:09:27
movie about this inspirational story
00:09:29
story of this woman who had this
00:09:30
incredible gymnastics career in my mind
00:09:32
I was thinking I was being productive or
00:09:34
I was learning something learning how to
00:09:36
overcome and how to have grit really I
00:09:37
was just being educated back in the day
00:09:39
I didn't have YouTube but today I see
00:09:41
people doing this constantly where they
00:09:43
will just binge watch all of these
00:09:45
videos on how to launch an effective
00:09:47
marketing campaign how to grow on social
00:09:48
media how to make more money and they
00:09:50
feel better because instead of just
00:09:51
watching mindless reality television at
00:09:53
least they're learning something but
00:09:54
they're not pairing the learning of
00:09:56
something with the doing of something
00:09:58
this can lead to you feeling like you're
00:10:00
making progress when really you're not
00:10:03
so here's my rule of THB whenever I'm
00:10:04
watching reading or listening to
00:10:06
something I have to actually do
00:10:08
something immediately afterwards I can't
00:10:10
just go to the next video to the next
00:10:12
podcast find the next Guru you will not
00:10:15
have a better life you will not get
00:10:16
unstuck from your rut if you just go to
00:10:18
Natalie's next video although you should
00:10:20
go to my next video but that's not going
00:10:21
to really help you and I'm here to
00:10:23
actually help you so what can you do
00:10:25
right now that would make a change if I
00:10:26
was you I would take my laptop or I
00:10:28
would take my phone and I would get out
00:10:30
of my house and I would go set up shop
00:10:32
in a coffee shop or in some awesome
00:10:34
Swanky hotel lobby that is how you
00:10:36
implement and you make a change so that
00:10:37
you're actually making progress instead
00:10:39
of just being edutain next up is number
00:10:41
seven which is to separate yourself from
00:10:44
people who don't support you you can
00:10:46
take a break from people holding you
00:10:47
back and it doesn't have to be a breakup
00:10:49
this is a lesson that my mom taught me
00:10:51
she would tell me about the boyfriends
00:10:53
that she would break up with but they
00:10:55
didn't know that she broke up with them
00:10:57
and I was like Mom how did you do this
00:10:59
she said I would just create slow and
00:11:01
subtle distance instead of having this
00:11:04
big fight that created all this emotion
00:11:06
I would subtly become more and more busy
00:11:08
to the point where it just didn't make
00:11:10
sense for us to be together any longer
00:11:11
because I already had this new life with
00:11:13
things that I was passionate about and
00:11:15
they were still doing what they were
00:11:16
doing before we didn't have some massive
00:11:18
breakup but it was obvious to both
00:11:20
parties that there was no longer
00:11:21
alignment this is the best way to create
00:11:24
separation from your friends now here's
00:11:26
the deal with this don't make other
00:11:27
people wrong don't have some big
00:11:30
emotional blowup just separate yourself
00:11:32
and start being so busy working on
00:11:34
yourself doing things that are creating
00:11:36
the life that you want that you no
00:11:37
longer have the time that you used to
00:11:39
have if you have friends who you like to
00:11:41
party with and go out with on Friday
00:11:43
Saturday and Sunday nights just have
00:11:45
other things to do that you can't move
00:11:47
whatever it is that you're trying to
00:11:48
create make time to do those things in
00:11:51
the time that used to spend with people
00:11:53
who aren't helping you get closer to
00:11:54
your goals this is where I go back to
00:11:56
looking at my calendar and I cancel
00:11:58
anything that is is not helping me get
00:12:00
out of the rut that I'm in there is no
00:12:02
party that you can go to there is no
00:12:04
lunch that you can go to there is no
00:12:06
coffee that you can go to with your
00:12:07
friend that is going to make you feel
00:12:09
better about yourself again it's not to
00:12:10
make them bad and it's not to make them
00:12:12
wrong it's just to say I no longer have
00:12:14
time to talk about my current life
00:12:16
because I have to go do things and spend
00:12:19
time building a new version of my life
00:12:21
and I can't live my old life while
00:12:23
building the new version of my life that
00:12:24
brings us to our final step in getting
00:12:26
unstuck which is Step number eight just
00:12:29
to say no you have to say no to anything
00:12:32
that doesn't align with your goals I
00:12:33
used to make up errands that I had to
00:12:35
run instead of spending Saturday
00:12:37
actually learning a new skill and
00:12:39
investing in myself to make progress I
00:12:41
would come up with this list of all of
00:12:43
these things that I had to do I have to
00:12:45
go get my nails done I have to go to
00:12:48
Target I have to eat lunch I just
00:12:51
created all of these things that I had
00:12:53
to do when really I didn't have to do
00:12:55
any of them so sometimes saying no isn't
00:12:57
saying no to somebody else it's actually
00:12:59
saying no to the habits and the routines
00:13:01
and the things that you tell yourself
00:13:03
you have to do but they're really
00:13:04
distractions just taking you away from
00:13:06
the things that you actually have to do
00:13:08
if you're not making progress on the
00:13:10
real things that you need to do you have
00:13:12
to re-evaluate the things that you have
00:13:14
to do and start saying no to yourself if
00:13:17
you're ready to take this even further
