- 00:00:24You just need to come yourself back.

- 00:00:37Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah.
- 00:01:02Adam.
- 00:01:30Alhamdulillah.
- 00:01:36Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah.
- 00:02:16Muhammad.
- 00:02:42Wasallam. forch.
- 00:03:34One of the most beautiful passages in
- 00:03:36the Quran speaking to sinners is inah.
- 00:03:40And I think some of you may have been
- 00:03:42shocked when you heard me say that. Not
- 00:03:44I didn't say speaking to believers. I
- 00:03:46said see speaking to sinners, people who
- 00:03:48do wrong things, people who messed up,
- 00:03:51people who crossed the line. The way
- 00:03:54Allah describes these sinners in this
- 00:03:56passage. First first thing that happens
- 00:03:58is Allah
- 00:04:02says he tells his
- 00:04:04prophet he commands him
- 00:04:07say my servants who have done wrong
- 00:04:10among themsel to
- 00:04:14themselves there's a interesting thing
- 00:04:16the use of the word here Allah could
- 00:04:19just speak directly and
- 00:04:21say my servants who have crossed lines
- 00:04:25and gone too are and done something
- 00:04:27wrong to even hurt themselves. They've
- 00:04:30even they've only done harm to
- 00:04:31themselves. He could have talked to them
- 00:04:32that way. But he began this ayah with an
- 00:04:36a command to the prophet sallallahu
- 00:04:38alaihi
- 00:04:44wasallam. Why? Because the messenger of
- 00:04:47Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam's
- 00:04:50responsibility is to remind the sinner
- 00:04:53the sinner that even the sinner Allah
- 00:04:56speaks to them
- 00:04:57directly that Allah speaks to them
- 00:05:00directly. So there's two things
- 00:05:01happening here. You know the messenger's
- 00:05:04job is to remind people of Allah and his
- 00:05:06religion and how to come back to Allah
- 00:05:09and what Allah wants from me and what
- 00:05:10Allah wants from you. And there's
- 00:05:12different ways of doing that. And one of
- 00:05:14the easiest ways of doing that is make
- 00:05:15you feel
- 00:05:16bad. You've done this. You've done this.
- 00:05:18You've done this. You know the
- 00:05:19punishment for this sin is jannam. You
- 00:05:21know the punishment for this sin is
- 00:05:22this. You know what Allah is going to do
- 00:05:23to you. You know what's going to happen
- 00:05:24on judgment day. You know what the And
- 00:05:26there's lots of ways you could do that.
- 00:05:28And I could give you uh over the next 20
- 00:05:31minutes and give you lots and lots of
- 00:05:32reminders about how you probably have no
- 00:05:36chance of getting into Jenna. I could do
- 00:05:38that. But in this ayah, I'm learning
- 00:05:40something else from my prophet and from
- 00:05:42allahel himself. Allah commands his
- 00:05:44prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam to
- 00:05:47talk to people who feel bad about
- 00:05:49themselves because they are drowning in
- 00:05:51sin and they think I am so bad Allah
- 00:05:53won't even talk to me. I'm so bad why
- 00:05:57would Allah even address me? Allah talks
- 00:05:59to people that he loves. Allah talks to
- 00:06:01people that obey him. Allah talks to
- 00:06:03people that fulfill his commands. Allah
- 00:06:06talks to people that stay in theal and
- 00:06:08they don't go towards the haram. He
- 00:06:10talks to those people. But in this ayah,
- 00:06:12Allah talks
- 00:06:14to and what's even more remarkable is
- 00:06:17that this ayah was revealed in Makkah in
- 00:06:21Makkah. So this is not after the it's
- 00:06:24not after the Allah sallallahu alaihi
- 00:06:27wasallam moves to Medadina and now we
- 00:06:29have the the you know the the the
- 00:06:31obligation of fasting. We have the
- 00:06:34dietary restrictions have been explained
- 00:06:36more and more. So the things that we
- 00:06:37usually consider halal and haram much of
- 00:06:40that is not there. The people that Allah
- 00:06:43is talking to in this ayah even includes
- 00:06:45people that were doing the ultimate sin.
- 00:06:47They were even doing shik. Even the
- 00:06:50mushikun are included. Even they and
- 00:06:54open and because all of them are slaves
- 00:06:55of Allah whether they realize it or not
- 00:06:58whether they recognize it or not you're
- 00:06:59still a slave of Allah. You could be a
- 00:07:01rebellious slave of Allah as is the
- 00:07:04explanation in this ayah because if
- 00:07:05Allah
- 00:07:06said my slaves automatically you assume
- 00:07:09a slave is someone who obeys the master.
- 00:07:12So you would think this is talking about
- 00:07:13the obedient people. He
- 00:07:17said my slaves who did wrong against
- 00:07:20themselves. Even a more beautiful thing
- 00:07:22here is Allah did not
- 00:07:25say they did wrong against or they
- 00:07:28crossed the lines against Allah.
- 00:07:31Right? He didn't say that. He said even
- 00:07:33when you disobey Allah, you're actually
- 00:07:35only hurting yourself. You didn't hurt
- 00:07:37Allah in any way. You didn't take
- 00:07:38anything away from Allah's kingdom. You
- 00:07:41were just harming
- 00:07:42yourselves. And so the profound thing
- 00:07:45here is that instead of beating down on
- 00:07:48the sinner, first of all, the messenger
- 00:07:50himself sallallahu alaihi wasallam has
- 00:07:53been commanded to address the sinner and
- 00:07:55to remind the sinner. I am just trying
- 00:07:57to tell you to stop hurting yourself.
- 00:08:00That's what I'm trying to
- 00:08:03do. And so what we're going to learn in
- 00:08:06this se series of ayat are a number of
- 00:08:10instructions. And the purpose of each of
- 00:08:12those instructions is to get us to stop
- 00:08:15hurting ourselves. Is to get us to stop
- 00:08:17doing is against our own selves, going
- 00:08:20too far against our own selves. Let's
- 00:08:21talk about the word is before we go on.
- 00:08:24I keep using the word sinner but
- 00:08:25actually it's not accurate in light of
- 00:08:27these ayat the word is
- 00:08:31not right
- 00:08:44or what does it
- 00:08:46mean in Arabic is when you go
- 00:08:50above what is normal. So you have earar
- 00:08:55and you can have enoughar that you're
- 00:08:57not hungry anymore. But just because
- 00:08:59you're not hungry anymore doesn't mean
- 00:09:01you don't want revenge more against the
- 00:09:02plate of chicken. So you keep you take
- 00:09:05six more drumsticks and you grab grab
- 00:09:08them half the bottle of ketchup and you
- 00:09:10get other fries cuz you know your your
- 00:09:12cousin's looking at the fries too and
- 00:09:14before he gets them you got to get them.
- 00:09:16And so you stuff stuff your face. You
- 00:09:18stop being hungry 10 minutes ago but
- 00:09:20you're still eating. That's is you're
- 00:09:23eating more than you need. That's is
- 00:09:26means excess. Isra means more than what
- 00:09:28is needed, more than appropriate amount.
- 00:09:31Right? And Allah created nature in a way
- 00:09:34and not just in the spiritual sense, in
- 00:09:36the religious sense, but even in fra in
- 00:09:39nature, Allah created a system by which
- 00:09:42is will always harm you. Too much water
- 00:09:44and you can actually drown. Too much
- 00:09:46drinking water. You water is a good
- 00:09:48thing. But you can actually there is
- 00:09:50such a thing as drinking too much water.
- 00:09:52Sugar is a good thing. Your body needs
- 00:09:54sugar. Too much sugar is going to be a
- 00:09:55problem. Too much of anything is going
- 00:09:57to be a problem. Right? Too much sleep
- 00:09:59is going to be a problem. Too much
- 00:10:01exercise is going to be a problem.
- 00:10:03Everything has to be within a limit,
- 00:10:04doesn't it? Everything Allah designed
- 00:10:06has to be within a limit. And if you go
- 00:10:08past that limit, who do you hurt? You
- 00:10:11hurt yourself. You hurt yourself in
- 00:10:14everything. In every part of life, you
- 00:10:16and I can engage in isra. But what
- 00:10:18happens? Human beings, sometimes we're
- 00:10:20good at some things or sometimes we
- 00:10:22enjoy some things more than other
- 00:10:24things. And so when we enjoy something
- 00:10:26more than other things, we start
- 00:10:27focusing on it, focusing on it, focusing
- 00:10:29on it. And when you focus on one thing
- 00:10:31too much, you're obviously ignoring
- 00:10:32something else. Right? So you end up
- 00:10:35doing in one thing and then you do in
- 00:10:38something else, right? If is something
- 00:10:41else also you go too much here something
- 00:10:43else is you love your job you just want
- 00:10:45I just I love my office so you go there
- 00:10:48you got to get out at 3:00 you say no
- 00:10:50I'll stay an extra 30 minutes I want to
- 00:10:51talk to my friend 4 4:00 5:00 6:00 7:00
- 00:10:55cuz you love your job cuz you love your
- 00:10:57business that's great except now your
- 00:11:00family's suffering so you're not giving
- 00:11:02them any time you don't have time to
- 00:11:04call your parents you don't have time to
- 00:11:06pray a salah in a masid you don't have
- 00:11:08time to recite Quran anymore cuz you got
- 00:11:10you put all the time in the business,
- 00:11:13right? Or somebody says, "I just want to
- 00:11:14take care of my kids." And they're
- 00:11:16spending all their time with their kids
- 00:11:17and now because they're spending all
- 00:11:18their time with their kids, they have no
- 00:11:20time for their spouse. They have no time
- 00:11:21for their parents. They have no time for
- 00:11:23their worship. They have no time. You
- 00:11:24could get isra even in good things you
- 00:11:26could do is it's not just in bad things,
- 00:11:28in good things. And then there are
- 00:11:30things that Allah has made permissible
- 00:11:33within a certain way. Like it's
- 00:11:36permissible if you do it the right way.
- 00:11:38Men and women can be together if they do
- 00:11:41it the right way. There's a wrong way
- 00:11:43for men and women to be together and
- 00:11:45there's a right way. Now, if you just
- 00:11:48cross that line, you're also doing is
- 00:11:50you're crossing a line that you
- 00:11:52shouldn't be crossing. So, there's
- 00:11:54different kinds of excess. And sometimes
- 00:11:56human beings cross a line and they don't
- 00:11:58realize it. That's the other thing. I I
- 00:12:01didn't think I was doing anything wrong.
- 00:12:03It was just one small step which led to
- 00:12:05one small step which led to one small
- 00:12:06step and before you know it, man, I
- 00:12:09crossed the red line a long time ago and
- 00:12:11I'm way in the danger territory. I'm way
- 00:12:14in the do not enter zone. Right? You're
- 00:12:16way out there. And now you say, man, I
- 00:12:18messed up so much. How can I even go
- 00:12:20back? I've gone too far. So sometimes
- 00:12:23people, you know, this was a funny thing
- 00:12:25that they used in the American economy
- 00:12:27when the subprime mortgage crisis
- 00:12:29happened several years ago. uh they were
- 00:12:32saying the banks are too big to fail if
- 00:12:35you remember or the car companies are
- 00:12:36too big to fail. Meaning their failure
- 00:12:38is so big that we have to just accept
- 00:12:41the failure. There's no way for us to
- 00:12:42come back and let's put more money into
- 00:12:44this leaking bucket. Right? You're like
- 00:12:47you're you're like I I'm too sinful to
- 00:12:49make TBA. I can't come back. I can't
- 00:12:52undo this. I have to just keep going
- 00:12:54now. It's too late for me. It's too late
- 00:12:57for me. And this is actually a kind of
- 00:12:59thought of it's a mindset of
- 00:13:01hopelessness. So Allah says the first
- 00:13:03thing to to help me and you from hurting
- 00:13:08ourselves. Don't lose hope and the
- 00:13:10loving care that comes from Allah. Allah
- 00:13:12still loves you. Allah still cares for
- 00:13:14you. I didn't use the word mercy for I
- 00:13:16use loving care on purpose. I want to
- 00:13:19explain that in this. I've done that in
- 00:13:20other talks. But don't lose hope in the
- 00:13:23fact that Allah still loves you and
- 00:13:25Allah still cares for you.
- 00:13:28No doubt about it. Allah will take all
- 00:13:30sins and forgive all of them
- 00:13:33altogether. All of them. He will wipe
- 00:13:36everything out, cover
- 00:13:40everything. How can he do that? And
- 00:13:42Allah says that's because he alone is
- 00:13:44the one who is exceedingly covering of
- 00:13:46mistakes and he's exceed he's always
- 00:13:48loving and caring. That's the first
- 00:13:50remedy I needed. The second and I'm
- 00:13:53sharing all of this with you because we
- 00:13:54think Ramadan is the time to come back
- 00:13:56to Allah right and twothirds of Ramadan
- 00:13:59is gone and many of you are thinking man
- 00:14:01I didn't I didn't do anything in
- 00:14:03Ramadan as such an opportunity there was
- 00:14:05all these talks about get ready for
- 00:14:06Ramadan make the most of Ramadan and 20
- 00:14:0920 plus days are gone I haven't done
- 00:14:11anything I've even been missing prayers
- 00:14:14I've even you know I never stop my bad
- 00:14:17habits I just keep messing up and now
- 00:14:19Ramadan's almost over and I have nothing
- 00:14:21to show for myself. Just like we say, I
- 00:14:23have nothing to show for myself, for my
- 00:14:25life. I just messed up. Now, we're
- 00:14:28saying that for Ramadan, right? Ramadan
- 00:14:30is a one month summary of our life. And
- 00:14:33this twothirds of Ramadan being gone is
- 00:14:35like, oh, so much of my life is gone and
- 00:14:37what can I do? What's the point even
- 00:14:39now? Right? And the thing is in the last
- 00:14:4210 nights, every time you hear you got
- 00:14:44to do more, you got to do more, you got
- 00:14:46to do more. I was like, I wasn't even
- 00:14:47meeting the minimum requirement. Now I
- 00:14:49got to do more. Forget it. I'm out of
- 00:14:50here. I'm just I'm already kicked out.
- 00:14:53It's too late for me. This is this is
- 00:14:55for good people. These last 10 days and
- 00:14:57all these encouragements, these are for
- 00:14:58the good people. I'm I don't even fit in
- 00:15:01this club. I don't even belong here.
- 00:15:03First thing, don't lose hope in Allah's
- 00:15:04mercy. Allah forgive. Don't say, "Oh, I
- 00:15:07I I did such a bad job in the first 20
- 00:15:09days of Ramadan. Why will Allah just all
- 00:15:12of a sudden accept that I was doing
- 00:15:13trying to do better in the last 10 last
- 00:15:1510 nights?" Why would he do that?
- 00:15:18It's as if at the end of our lives, even
- 00:15:20if we've lived a majority life of sin,
- 00:15:22Allah is still giving us a chance to
- 00:15:24turn it around, to come back. He then
- 00:15:27says the second
- 00:15:30thing, come back with your
- 00:15:36heart. When you come back to Allah with
- 00:15:38your heart, it's called come back to
- 00:15:41your master in your heart. This is
- 00:15:43important because that means stop
- 00:15:45listening to everybody else.
- 00:15:47Stop listening to someone who's saying
- 00:15:49you will never be a good person. Allah
- 00:15:51will never forgive you. There's people
- 00:15:53in your life who say that things things
- 00:15:54like that. Allah will never forgive you.
- 00:15:56There are people who've written you off.
- 00:15:58There are people who you hear, you see
- 00:16:00them and you say, "Man, that person is
- 00:16:02so close to Allah and when I compare
- 00:16:04myself to them, I'm a really bad person
- 00:16:06because that's a really good person and
- 00:16:07I don't even compare." Right? So you
- 00:16:10even if they don't put you down, you
- 00:16:12look at them doing all the good things
- 00:16:13and you look at yourself and you say,
- 00:16:15"You know what? What's even the point?
- 00:16:17I'll never get to this this person's
- 00:16:18level. Some brother comes to you,
- 00:16:21mashallah. Alhamdulillah, I just
- 00:16:22finished my second of the Quran. And
- 00:16:24you're like, I didn't even read
- 00:16:27fata. But you don't say that to them.
- 00:16:29You're like, yeah, I'm never going to
- 00:16:31catch up to these people. This is these
- 00:16:34are people that are going to Jenna. I'm
- 00:16:36apparently on the other side of the
- 00:16:37highway going in the other direction,
- 00:16:39right? No. Allah says come back to your
- 00:16:42come back to your don't look at other
- 00:16:43people. Just you. Your heart needs to
- 00:16:46just turn back to your stop being
- 00:16:48focused on everyone else. It's not a
- 00:16:49contest. It's not a contest. How many
- 00:16:52prayed eight? How many prayed 20 how
- 00:16:54many how many did you do? How many did
- 00:16:57you do? How many mornings were you there
- 00:16:59at the It's not a contest. It's not a
- 00:17:02contest. It's not a comparison with
- 00:17:04someone else. right now you just need to
- 00:17:06come yourself
- 00:17:10back and just surrender yourself before
- 00:17:13him before punishment comes before it's
- 00:17:16too late meaning Allah is saying it's
- 00:17:18still not too late too late will be when
- 00:17:20the punishment comes which means when
- 00:17:22your death will come and then you know
- 00:17:24judgment day will come it hasn't come
- 00:17:26yet so it's not too late for you yet
- 00:17:28this is another way of Allah saying you
- 00:17:29have time is Allah another way of saying
- 00:17:32you're not a lost
- 00:17:37does then you will not be helped. Then
- 00:17:41you will not be helped. That's not just
- 00:17:43a threat. It's also encouragement
- 00:17:46because if Allah is saying then you will
- 00:17:47not be helped. It means now you will be
- 00:17:51helped. Now you will be helped. It's
- 00:17:53only then that you will not be helped.
- 00:17:55So right now Allah is offering to help
- 00:17:57you. Allah is offering to help me. And
- 00:18:01is not just help. It's different from
- 00:18:04orusra is used for military aid. You
- 00:18:06know when they drop large packages of
- 00:18:08ship shipments for the military so they
- 00:18:11can replenish their supplies that's
- 00:18:12actually called or when a and a military
- 00:18:15is about to get attacked or they're
- 00:18:17they're fighting the enemy head on and
- 00:18:19reinforcements arrive from above the
- 00:18:21hill right that's nusra. Nusra is
- 00:18:24actually major help. It's not just small
- 00:18:26little bit of help. Allah will help you
- 00:18:28in profound empowering ways victorious
- 00:18:30kinds of ways. Then he
- 00:18:35says follow the most beautiful of what's
- 00:18:38been given to you from what's been sent
- 00:18:39to you from your there's lots of things
- 00:18:41to be said here I won't focus too much
- 00:18:43on it the easiest meaning of that is the
- 00:18:44best of what Allah has revealed is Quran
- 00:18:54itself like among the meanings of this
- 00:18:56ayah is the best of all revelations is
- 00:18:58the word of Allah so follow it just
- 00:19:00follow what Allah I say it has other
- 00:19:03meanings too. But I actually wanted to
- 00:19:04focus on this last piece before I let
- 00:19:06you guys go. He
- 00:19:09says do this. Follow it in the best
- 00:19:12possible way you can. Follow the best
- 00:19:14thing that Allah has revealed. The most
- 00:19:16beautiful thing that Allah has revealed.
- 00:19:17Because Allah is, you know, some people
- 00:19:18say, "Oh, Islam is so hard. There's so
- 00:19:20many rules. There's so many
- 00:19:21complications. I don't know what to do.
- 00:19:23I don't know what there's so many
- 00:19:25technicalities." And Allah is saying,
- 00:19:26"No, it's actually beautiful and
- 00:19:28simple." Imagine somebody who was
- 00:19:29listening to this ayah in Makkah. What
- 00:19:31complications were there for for them in
- 00:19:32the religion? What were the
- 00:19:34complications when they were hearing
- 00:19:36Zum? Where was the difficulty in the
- 00:19:37religion? It was a simple
- 00:19:39straightforward message. It was
- 00:19:40beautiful and direct. That's all. Come
- 00:19:43back to Allah's word and you'll find the
- 00:19:44beauty and directness of this dean.
- 00:19:46That's it. But then Allah says before
- 00:19:49punishment comes to you all of a sudden
- 00:19:51and you won't even realize it. Meaning
- 00:19:53don't act like you have a lot of time.
- 00:19:56Develop a sense of urgency. Have a sense
- 00:19:59of urgency. You don't have a light. You
- 00:20:01can turn things around. You shouldn't be
- 00:20:03hopeless, but don't get lazy. You don't
- 00:20:06have much time. And these last 10, you
- 00:20:10know, or less nights that we have of
- 00:20:12Ramadan, it's kind of a way of us to
- 00:20:15think about we don't have much time. And
- 00:20:17if we can develop a mentality, a mindset
- 00:20:20of a sense of urgency in these 10
- 00:20:22nights, maybe we can carry that over in
- 00:20:24our life to develop that kind of mindset
- 00:20:26that I don't have a lot of time. I need
- 00:20:28to make the most of the time that I
- 00:20:30have. What I really wanted to share with
- 00:20:32you before I leave you is actually
- 00:20:35something about the words that a person
- 00:20:37says that did not take advantage of
- 00:20:39their time. And Allah says, "I don't
- 00:20:41want you to become of these people. But
- 00:20:43if you do become these people, this is
- 00:20:45what they're going to end up saying when
- 00:20:46it's too late."
- 00:20:52when that a person will end up
- 00:20:56saying what a what a thing to
- 00:21:02say you could say I have regret I regret
- 00:21:05whatever I did wherever I fell short I
- 00:21:09didn't do enough by Allah's side that's
- 00:21:12what it that's what we expected it to
- 00:21:14say but Allah
- 00:21:17says this is it's called in the Arabic
- 00:21:21language what that means in simple
- 00:21:22languages he's saying oh my regret it
- 00:21:26doesn't even make sense in English oh my
- 00:21:28regret when you call you you don't call
- 00:21:32a thing a regret is a thing is a feeling
- 00:21:34you call a person you call a person in
- 00:21:38this ayah you're calling a feeling and
- 00:21:40what's that feeling my
- 00:21:42regret my regret as if Allah is saying
- 00:21:46there's a almost like a person inside
- 00:21:48you that lives inside you that you talk
- 00:21:50to all the time And that that that that
- 00:21:53being inside you is almost like another
- 00:21:56part of you that just manifests regret.
- 00:21:59Oh, I messed up. I made so many
- 00:22:00mistakes. Oh, I didn't do this. Oh, I
- 00:22:02didn't do this. The passage began with
- 00:22:04someone who's hopeless. And now on
- 00:22:06judgment day, oh, I messed up. I could
- 00:22:08have done so
- 00:22:09much. There are people who think about
- 00:22:12the past every day. Every day, they're
- 00:22:16depressed. I don't know why this
- 00:22:18happened to me. I don't know why this
- 00:22:20this happened or that happened. And
- 00:22:21they're talking about that today.
- 00:22:22They're talking about that tomorrow.
- 00:22:23They're talking about the day after and
- 00:22:24day after and day after. I don't know
- 00:22:26what's going to happen. I don't know
- 00:22:26what's going to happen. 10 years go by.
- 00:22:28They're talking about the past. And then
- 00:22:3010 years later, they look back and say,
- 00:22:31"I wasted 10
- 00:22:33years." That's what they
- 00:22:38do. They're talking to their regret.
- 00:22:41They're having a conversation with the
- 00:22:43regret inside of them constantly and
- 00:22:45they don't want to talk to any. If
- 00:22:47you're talking to your regret, you're
- 00:22:48not going to be able to talk to Allah.
- 00:22:50You have to choose who you want to have
- 00:22:52a conversation with. Allah is choosing
- 00:22:53to have a conversation with you. You're
- 00:22:55choosing to have a conversation with
- 00:22:56your
- 00:22:57regret.
- 00:22:59Stop. Because a time will come where
- 00:23:01you're going to end up forever having
- 00:23:03that conversation if you don't change
- 00:23:04your mind. May Allah protect you and me
- 00:23:05from it. That we're forever just talking
- 00:23:07to our regret and
- 00:23:10saying on the things I fell short in
- 00:23:13means I could have done more. I just
- 00:23:15didn't meet the minimum. I didn't do
- 00:23:16enough. Meaning Allah is not even saying
- 00:23:20do the very top and the very best and
- 00:23:22excel like no no no just don't do if if
- 00:23:25there's a minimum line like in school
- 00:23:27you have a minimum passing grade right
- 00:23:30minimum passing grade let's say it's a
- 00:23:3165 well if you got to 64 that's
- 00:23:35the right you you cross it you pass it
- 00:23:38you're fine yeah I could have just
- 00:23:40crossed it wasn't hard it wasn't a lot
- 00:23:43not a lot was being asked of me and so
- 00:23:46he said and why didn't I do
- 00:23:50And I did this with Allah by it's also
- 00:23:54amazing phrase. I did this while Allah
- 00:23:56was by my
- 00:23:57side. Like Allah was there to encourage
- 00:24:00me. Allah was there to help me through.
- 00:24:01Allah never let me go. I let Allah go. I
- 00:24:04let He didn't let me go. I let him go.
- 00:24:07He was always by my
- 00:24:09side. Right. Right. in Allah's right
- 00:24:11within Allah's side. Jump is actually
- 00:24:13used for your neighbor
- 00:24:16like right. Allah was right by me and I
- 00:24:19didn't care. I just didn't I didn't take
- 00:24:21the step myself. Everything Allah
- 00:24:24would had to give me for me to be able
- 00:24:27to cross that line and be in the green
- 00:24:29Allah gave me. I just didn't take the
- 00:24:31step. Right? And then he finally he
- 00:24:34says, "And I was just from those who
- 00:24:37diminish, who make fun. I just turned
- 00:24:40everything into a joke. I just didn't
- 00:24:42take anything seriously in the end. So
- 00:24:43there's on the one hand there's
- 00:24:45depression and you're talking to your
- 00:24:46regret and on the other hand is when
- 00:24:48you're not depressed you're making jokes
- 00:24:50about things you shouldn't be making
- 00:24:51jokes
- 00:24:52about. You're just the things you should
- 00:24:54take seriously. You're not taking
- 00:24:56seriously. You just laugh them off. You
- 00:24:58diminish them. So is the same verb in
- 00:25:02Arabic that is used for subduing. When
- 00:25:04you domesticate an animal, you
- 00:25:08do, right? And Allah says, you know, uh
- 00:25:11the mountain, the the the clouds have
- 00:25:13been done of and the the winds have been
- 00:25:17of
- 00:25:18meaning, right? He he sub he surrendered
- 00:25:22the night and the day, the clouds, the
- 00:25:24winds, he surrendered them. He put them
- 00:25:26down like they were rebellious and he
- 00:25:28put them down and they act the way the
- 00:25:30master wants them to act. like a horse
- 00:25:31that's wild and the master subdues it,
- 00:25:34domesticates it, and now the the master
- 00:25:36turns this way and the horse turns this
- 00:25:38way. When the horse is wild, it's going
- 00:25:40to kick you in the face. You go close to
- 00:25:41it, you go behind it, it's going to kick
- 00:25:43you with its hind legs. It's going to
- 00:25:45push you. It's going to rebel against
- 00:25:47you. But once it's domesticated, you if
- 00:25:49you've ever dealt with horses, as you
- 00:25:52move, you don't even have to pull on the
- 00:25:54rope. If you're walking with a horse,
- 00:25:56you don't even have to pull on the rope.
- 00:25:57It senses that you've turned and it
- 00:25:58turns with you.
- 00:26:00It just it just moves with you. That's
- 00:26:02actually called the from it comes the
- 00:26:04idea of you putting yourself down,
- 00:26:07putting others down, taking serious
- 00:26:09things and doing of them, putting them
- 00:26:12down, domesticating them as if things
- 00:26:14that are supposed to be taken very
- 00:26:15seriously and things that are very
- 00:26:17dangerous. You're not. You start talking
- 00:26:19about them and thinking about them in a
- 00:26:21way that you diminish the danger of
- 00:26:22them. You diminish the seriousness of
- 00:26:24them. And this is what a person says in
- 00:26:26the end. I could have done more. I just
- 00:26:28didn't want to take things seriously. I
- 00:26:29just wanted to be one of those people,
- 00:26:31leave me alone, man. I I I wanted to
- 00:26:33share this as the last thing today
- 00:26:35because uh just recently somebody told
- 00:26:37me, you know, how do I how do I get a
- 00:26:38teenager to love Islam? Somebody told me
- 00:26:41give me 30 I you got 30 seconds. Tell me
- 00:26:43how to tell a teenager to love Islam. I
- 00:26:44was like, what are you talking about?
- 00:26:46Get a teenager to love Islam. 30
- 00:26:50seconds. You know why? Because every
- 00:26:52time I tell them about Islam, they just
- 00:26:54roll their eyes. They just there's
- 00:26:56another Islamic thing. When's dad going
- 00:26:59to stop? My mom just
- 00:27:02doesn't seriously. Can I go now? Yeah,
- 00:27:06that was great. Thanks. Yeah, we got it.
- 00:27:08We're all going to hell. Thanks.
- 00:27:11Mhm. You know, and there's just there's
- 00:27:13a there's an aloof. There's a lack of
- 00:27:16serious just I don't want to be
- 00:27:17connected. Why are you bothering me with
- 00:27:19this? Can I just, you know, why are you
- 00:27:22dragging me to this masid? Can I can I
- 00:27:24take my, you know, can I take my phone?
- 00:27:26Can I take my whatever mobile gaming
- 00:27:29device, just sit in the back, you know,
- 00:27:32because I just I don't I don't want to
- 00:27:33think about it. And you know what? That
- 00:27:36becomes a lifestyle. And that just
- 00:27:38doesn't stay as a teenager. It just
- 00:27:40becomes and eventually a person says, I
- 00:27:42just never took anything
- 00:27:44seriously. and and Allah says I don't
- 00:27:47want you to become a person that ends up
- 00:27:49when it's too late comes back and says I
- 00:27:52could have done more I could have met
- 00:27:54the minimum requirements and I just I I
- 00:27:56was always someone who never took things
- 00:27:58seriously I just joined other people who
- 00:28:00don't think seriously because means
- 00:28:02joining a group means there are other
- 00:28:05people who think it's cool to dismiss
- 00:28:07everything you know the whatever group
- 00:28:09yeah
- 00:28:12whatever too cool for
- 00:28:15I'm I'm I'm above this. I'm above. And
- 00:28:17the facial the facial expression carries
- 00:28:20how little you care about what's being
- 00:28:21said or what reminder your parents are
- 00:28:23giving or the imam is giving or the
- 00:28:25Quran is saying. Yeah. Mhm. That that
- 00:28:29look and when that look you see somebody
- 00:28:31else have the look and say, "Man, that
- 00:28:32guy is so cool. Not even afraid of
- 00:28:35Allah. I want to be like that. I want to
- 00:28:37be with the cool guy." Right? So they
- 00:28:40become a group of and he says I was
- 00:28:42among those who are as if to say I
- 00:28:44wasn't even like that myself. I just
- 00:28:46decided to join stupid company that is
- 00:28:49like that and the more time I spent with
- 00:28:51them I became one of them. I just I
- 00:28:54joined them and became one of them. And
- 00:28:56that's the confession he's making on
- 00:28:58judgment day and she's making on
- 00:28:59judgment day. May Allah protect us from
- 00:29:01becoming that. And may Allah protect our
- 00:29:03children from becoming that. And I pray
- 00:29:05that Allah does not make us a people of
- 00:29:07regret because we didn't take make the
- 00:29:09most of the last few days of the the
- 00:29:11last couple of weeks of Ramadan. And
- 00:29:13make absolutely the most of the next few
- 00:29:15days that are coming. You know, be be uh
- 00:29:18you know don't think that Ramadan is
- 00:29:20ending for you. You should think after
- 00:29:21Friday Ramadan just started. That's how
- 00:29:24you should think. Ramadan just started
- 00:29:26and you just got is Ramadan this year is
- 00:29:28not 30 days. It's just this this nine
- 00:29:30days. That's it. That's all it is. and
- 00:29:32take it take it with that attitude and
- 00:29:34may allahel make give you the strength
- 00:29:36the motivation and the ability to just
- 00:29:38absolutely do your very very best and
- 00:29:41transform yourselves for your own
- 00:29:42benefit
- 00:29:47Alhamdulillah.
