00:00:00
so you know the feeling of a downward
00:00:01
spiral where one bad thing happens and
00:00:03
then some more bad things happen or
00:00:05
where you're not really doing so great
00:00:06
and this creates struggle and that
00:00:08
struggle creates more struggle and more
00:00:10
struggle and we get stuck in this cycle
00:00:12
and it's so hard to pull ourselves out
00:00:14
that is the downward spiral right and
00:00:17
we've all been there well we can also
00:00:19
get caught in an upward spiral where
00:00:21
things just keep getting better and
00:00:23
better where one good thing leads to the
00:00:25
next and the next and you get caught in
00:00:26
a winning streak in this video I'm going
00:00:28
to tell you exactly how to put yourself
00:00:30
on that positive upward spiral
00:00:31
trajectory and how to stay there so you
00:00:33
can keep going up and up and life will
00:00:35
just keep getting better and
00:00:38

00:00:55
bestselling notion templates they will
00:00:57
all be linked down below so I read this
00:00:58
book recently called the winner effect
00:01:00
and the author Dr Ian Robertson says
00:01:03
something very important those who win
00:01:06
tend to keep winning and those who lose
00:01:09
tend to keep losing and this is why we
00:01:11
can either get caught in an upward
00:01:13
spiral or a downward one are we going to
00:01:15
keep winning or are we going to keep
00:01:17
losing what trajectory are we on now I'm
00:01:20
going to talk about how to actually put
00:01:21
ourselves on that upper trajectory in a
00:01:23
bit but first it really helps to
00:01:26
understand this concept more in depth
00:01:27
now in the book The author uses the
00:01:28
example of M Tyson and if you don't know
00:01:31
who Mike Tyson is he's just like a
00:01:33
really famous really good pro boxer so
00:01:35
in 1995 after he went to prison for a
00:01:38
little bit he was back on the boxing
00:01:40
scene right but what his managers did
00:01:42
was that they set up his first two
00:01:44
fights with boxers who were like not as
00:01:46
good where it would be a pretty much
00:01:48
hopefully guaranteed win and in Mike
00:01:49
Tyson's first boxing match and His
00:01:51
official comeback he knocked out his
00:01:53
first opponent in only 89 seconds and he
00:01:56
dominated the next guy in the next match
00:01:57
too and what did this do this started
00:02:00
him on the trajectory of a positive
00:02:02
upward spiral and started him off on a
00:02:04
winning streak and his managers they did
00:02:06
this strategically they wanted him to
00:02:08
get into the habit of winning they
00:02:10
wanted him to get into the mindset of
00:02:12
winning they wanted him to feel what
00:02:14
winning felt like before fighting more
00:02:17
challenging opponents and it worked the
00:02:19
author also talks about this other
00:02:20
experiment that was done with mice now
00:02:23
animal experiments are always like
00:02:25
ethically questionable and this one's
00:02:27
kind of sad I will say but the results
00:02:30
are still really interesting and I think
00:02:32
that we can learn a lot from it okay so
00:02:34
scientists put two mice in a cage to
00:02:36
fight and I don't exactly know how they
00:02:38
got them to fight but somehow they got
00:02:40
them to fight they instigated a fight
00:02:41
except here's the catch though one of
00:02:43
the mice was drugged they were sedated
00:02:46
so basically that drugged Mouse had no
00:02:48
chance of winning and they of course
00:02:50
lost and the not drugged Mouse they won
00:02:54
but here's what's so interesting though
00:02:55
these scientists they kept operating
00:02:57
this little mouse fight club and the
00:02:59
initial Mouse who won that fight they
00:03:02
for the most part kept on winning they
00:03:05
had a statistically much higher rate of
00:03:07
success but that other Mouse the one
00:03:08
that initially lost because they were
00:03:10
drugged they kept on losing they had a
00:03:13
much higher rate of failure and this is
00:03:15
because winning actually changes the
00:03:17
chemistry in your body it increases
00:03:19
certain hormones it increases your
00:03:21
dopamine it increases your confidence
00:03:23
but the short of it is is that when we
00:03:25
win we are more likely to keep winning
00:03:28
and this is called the winner effect
00:03:30
even though a lot of these examples are
00:03:31
about like physically fighting and
00:03:32
winning we can still use this concept to
00:03:35
help us win at life and hop on that
00:03:38
upward spiral so that's what we're going
00:03:39
to dive into how to take this concept
00:03:42
and use it to create the life we want
00:03:44
and there are three big points that we
00:03:46
need to talk about number one give
00:03:48
yourself the chance to win so if the
00:03:50
more we win the more we win then we need
00:03:53
to make sure that we are setting goals
00:03:55
that are actually achievable that we
00:03:58
have goals that we can actually win at
00:04:01
for example if your goal is to be a
00:04:02
billionaire that's great but is that
00:04:05
goal actually achievable at this point
00:04:07
in your life probably not or if your
00:04:10
goal is to get fit and so you say I'm
00:04:11
going to go to the gym every single day
00:04:13
no days off is that actually
00:04:16
achievable not likely or saying I'm
00:04:18
never going to have any sugar ever again
00:04:20
probably not very achievable you're
00:04:22
likely to lose or let's things smaller
00:04:24
if your goal for the day is to check off
00:04:26
20 things on your to-do list are you
00:04:28
actually going to win at that like is
00:04:30
that an achievable goal for me I don't
00:04:33
know 20 sounds like a lot so probably
00:04:35
not and therefore you will feel like a
00:04:38
loser the important thing here is that
00:04:39
if you feel like a winner that is when
00:04:42
you will get those winning effects and
00:04:44
if you feel like a loser that is when
00:04:46
you will get those losing effects and so
00:04:48
therefore if you set yourself up for
00:04:50
failure by setting goals that are just
00:04:52
like not achievable that are nearly
00:04:54
impossible then you will always fall
00:04:56
short and little by little every single
00:04:58
day your subconscious will think I'm a
00:05:00
loser I'm a failure I'm not good enough
00:05:02
I never do what I set out for myself I
00:05:04
don't trust myself I'm not confident in
00:05:06
myself or when you have those big Mega
00:05:08
goals you have to be able to break them
00:05:10
down into smaller achievable goals so
00:05:12
for example let's say you have a really
00:05:14
big goal of having your own business
00:05:16
that makes a million dollars a year
00:05:18
that's a really good goal but if you're
00:05:19
just completely fixated on the end goal
00:05:22
of being a millionaire business owner
00:05:24
then every single little tiny step along
00:05:27
the way is going to feel so small and so
00:05:31
inconsequential and almost like almost
00:05:33
like a failure almost like you're not
00:05:35
doing good enough setting up your first
00:05:36
janky little website getting your
00:05:38
business license getting your very first
00:05:40
client you know making your first $100
00:05:42
seems so silly when you compare that to
00:05:44
the ultimate goal of millionaire
00:05:46
business owner it gives you the feeling
00:05:48
that you're kind of failing even when
00:05:50
you're not you're on your way there has
00:05:51
to be little achievable goals along the
00:05:53
way that you can win at and that is how
00:05:56
you reach those big Mega goals the
00:05:57
author says in the book the people who
00:05:59
actually end up achieving the most tend
00:06:01
to set moderately challenging targets
00:06:03
for themselves key word is moderately
00:06:06
and he says that setting your targets
00:06:07
too high can actually have disabling
00:06:09
effects or in other words give you those
00:06:11
loser like effects so if you want to
00:06:13
start spiraling upward you have to give
00:06:16
yourself the chance to win or let's say
00:06:18
you're having a rough time you're in a
00:06:20
rut you're really struggling to get back
00:06:21
on that upward spiral you have to allow
00:06:24
yourself to win at something so yeah
00:06:26
maybe you do really need to write that
00:06:28
20,000 Worthy that you have to finish by
00:06:30
the end of the year but if you're
00:06:31
totally depressed rotting in bed then a
00:06:34
better goal might be to just get up take
00:06:36
a shower or wash your hair maybe put on
00:06:38
a cute outfit or maybe the goal is just
00:06:40
to make your bed and clean your room
00:06:41
because that is something that you can
00:06:43
actually win at and once you start
00:06:45
winning once you start achieving even if
00:06:47
it's little that's when that upward
00:06:49
motion starts and once you're caught in
00:06:51
that upward motion it's easy to keep
00:06:53
going and Life starts moving in the
00:06:54
direction you want winners tend to keep
00:06:56
winning so don't set yourself up to lose
00:06:59
number two embrace the winner mindset
00:07:02
now here's the thing with winning when
00:07:03
we're playing a basketball game or a
00:07:05
tennis match it's really obvious whether
00:07:08
we win or lose it's clearcut black and
00:07:11
white but in The Game of Life everything
00:07:14
is subjective in life winning is
00:07:16
subjective and for the most part it's
00:07:17
just based off of our own perception and
00:07:19
this is important we can use this to our
00:07:22
advantage again when you feel like you
00:07:24
win that's when you get those winning
00:07:26
effects and so when we win that's when
00:07:28
we stay motiv motivated and excited
00:07:30
that's when we keep taking action and
00:07:32
keep showing up that's when we keep
00:07:33
believing in ourselves and thinking
00:07:35
positively and because we keep showing
00:07:37
up because we're more confident we make
00:07:38
more progress towards our goals and the
00:07:40
more progress we make towards our goals
00:07:42
the more we feel like a winner and on
00:07:43
and on and on and up and up we go on
00:07:45
that upward spiral so there are some
00:07:47
things in life that'll just feel like a
00:07:48
really clear win you get that huge
00:07:51
promotion at work or you go on the most
00:07:53
amazing first date ever or after working
00:07:55
out for a few months you look at
00:07:57
yourself in the mirror and you're like
00:07:58
whoo who's that or you have one of those
00:08:00
days where everything is just easy you
00:08:02
get everything done so quickly and
00:08:03
you're in bed in your PJs all cozy by
00:08:06
like 7:00 p.m. and you get to watch your
00:08:07
favorite show those things are easy to
00:08:09
see as wins but what about the other
00:08:11
stuff let's say your boyfriend breaks up
00:08:14
with you that sucks but also maybe it's
00:08:16
a win he clearly wasn't the right one
00:08:18
for you anyways and now he just opened
00:08:19
up the path for some other amazing
00:08:21
person to walk into your life maybe you
00:08:23
tried to start a business and after a
00:08:24
year you had to close it down that's a
00:08:26
bummer but also you learn so much in
00:08:29
that process and next time that you go
00:08:31
to start your next business you're going
00:08:32
to be 100 steps ahead of where you
00:08:34
started last time and that business
00:08:36
probably wasn't even right for you
00:08:37
anyway so now you'll create something
00:08:39
better or heaven forbid let's say you
00:08:40
get into a car accident the losers
00:08:42
mindset will think H why me why do I
00:08:45
have to deal with this I can't believe I
00:08:47
just got into an accident now I have to
00:08:49
get my car fixed take it to the shop G
00:08:52
why can't I ever catch a break the
00:08:53
Winner's mindset will think I'm alive
00:08:56
thank goodness for the airbags I'm so
00:08:57
lucky that I'm okay I'm so great
00:08:59
grateful that I'm okay that nothing
00:09:01
serious happened everything always works
00:09:03
out for me with so many things in life
00:09:05
you can choose to see things either as a
00:09:07
win or as a fail and it is purely based
00:09:10
off of your own perception and your own
00:09:12
perception will determine whether you
00:09:14
stay on that winning streak and on that
00:09:15
upward spiral or if you reroute and
00:09:18
start on that downward one there's also
00:09:19
something in Psychology called the
00:09:21
broaden and build Theory and it
00:09:23
basically kind of reaffirms what I'm
00:09:24
saying but in a different way and in
00:09:25
short it basically says that when we're
00:09:27
feeling good when we're feel feeling
00:09:29
positive emotions our mind opens up and
00:09:31
we're able to notice and take advantage
00:09:33
of the possibilities around us when we
00:09:35
think negative thoughts our minds close
00:09:37
in a sense it tends to think rather
00:09:39
narrowly on the problem and on that
00:09:41
negativity and then we can't see the
00:09:43
possibilities and our lives will suffer
00:09:44
because of it having that winning
00:09:45
mindset like noticing all the wins this
00:09:48
is you looking for the good that is you
00:09:51
choosing to experience positive emotions
00:09:53
instead of negative ones this is opening
00:09:55
up your mind in that positive upward
00:09:57
Direction and this is what allows for
00:09:58
more good things to come if you're stuck
00:10:00
thinking about all of the losses all of
00:10:02
the fails all of your problems then that
00:10:05
is what you will keep perpetuating
00:10:06
because your focus is so narrowly stuck
00:10:09
on that if you want to rewire your brain
00:10:10
and stay on that positive upward spiral
00:10:13
trajectory you have to find and notice
00:10:15
the winds even if you have to be a
00:10:17
little bit dulu sometimes because this
00:10:19
is what's going to bring in more number
00:10:21
three use the domino effect to your
00:10:23
advantage now lastly we always have the
00:10:26
domino effect going on in our life
00:10:28
always whether whether you realize it or
00:10:30
not for example you stay up late on your
00:10:32
phone one night just like scrolling and
00:10:34
so you go to bed late and then because
00:10:35
you go to bed late you wake up late and
00:10:37
tired and because you wake up late and
00:10:38
tired you rush out the door you don't
00:10:40
get to make yourself a breakfast you
00:10:42
don't get to put yourself together and
00:10:43
look cute and you're grumpy and because
00:10:45
you're grumpy you have a bad work day
00:10:47
and because you're tired grumpy and
00:10:48
feeling stressed from your bad work day
00:10:50
you decide to skip your evening workout
00:10:52
and because you skip your evening
00:10:53
workout you feel bad about yourself and
00:10:55
because you feel bad about yourself you
00:10:56
eat some junk food to feel better and
00:10:58
you just fall into a bad Place mentally
00:11:00
and because you're feeling so negative
00:11:01
you just push your friends and your
00:11:02
family away and you isolate yourself see
00:11:04
how that one little action of scrolling
00:11:06
on your phone and staying up late was
00:11:08
that first Domino that started off that
00:11:10
downward spiral well the opposite is the
00:11:12
same let's say you get into the groove
00:11:13
of waking up on time and working out in
00:11:15
the morning because you're getting those
00:11:16
good workouts and you're like oh well I
00:11:18
should probably start eating better and
00:11:19
drinking my water so that I can like
00:11:21
recover from my workouts and so I'm not
00:11:22
wasting my time at the gym and then
00:11:24
because you're eating better you're
00:11:25
drinking more water you're working out
00:11:27
all of a sudden you start feeling better
00:11:28
and because you feel better you sleep
00:11:30
better and because you sleep better you
00:11:31
wake up more refreshed your skin is much
00:11:33
more clear your mind is more clear you
00:11:35
start feeling more confident all of a
00:11:36
sudden you got a little pep in your step
00:11:38
you're more positive and because you're
00:11:39
more positive you're more social and
00:11:41
people like being around you you're more
00:11:42
loving you develop better relationships
00:11:44
and because you're more positive because
00:11:46
your mind is more clear because you're
00:11:47
feeling better because you're able to
00:11:49
develop these better relationships all
00:11:51
of a sudden your career starts taking
00:11:52
off and then because your career starts
00:11:54
taking off you start making all this
00:11:56
money the domino effect is always
00:11:58
happening in our life and and that is
00:11:59
why winners tend to keep winning and
00:12:02
losers tend to keep losing so be
00:12:03
strategic about which dominoes you are
00:12:06
setting off when we accidentally set off
00:12:08
a negative Domino which we will the
00:12:09
staying up late scrolling on our phone
00:12:11
or whatever it is notice that Domino and
00:12:14
then consciously actively choose to turn
00:12:16
it around choose to put in place a
00:12:19
positive one every day when we wake up
00:12:21
those first dominoes are already
00:12:22
starting to fall and they're either
00:12:23
putting us on the upward spiral
00:12:25
trajectory or the downward one depending
00:12:27
on which ones you choose there's no
00:12:29
between so especially in those first
00:12:30
moments in the morning they are crucial
00:12:32
do you wake up and immediately start
00:12:34
scrolling your phone and start comparing
00:12:36
yourself to all the other girls that
00:12:37
you're seeing on the internet and then
00:12:38
you start thinking negative thoughts
00:12:40
about yourself if so that first Domino
00:12:42
is already falling and already leading
00:12:44
you down that downward spiral but maybe
00:12:46
if you wake up read a few pages from an
00:12:48
inspiring book make your bed put on a
00:12:50
cute outfit eat some breakfast with
00:12:52
protein you're hitting down those first
00:12:54
dominoes that are causing you to move
00:12:56
upward every action you take every
00:12:58
thought you think is a little Domino and
00:13:01
those dominoes are always hitting the
00:13:03
next one setting off a chain reaction so
00:13:05
if you want to stay on that upward
00:13:06
spiral recognize the dominoes that you
00:13:09
are knocking down that is it for this
00:13:11
video I personally found this topic
00:13:13
really interesting and I hope that you
00:13:15
guys found it interesting too and got
00:13:16
some value from it I'd love to know your
00:13:18
thoughts in the comments below but
00:13:19

00:13:21
