00:00:00
lysergic acid diphthalidamide also known
00:00:03
as acid is a potent psychedelic that if
00:00:06
taken in high doses a person will
00:00:08
strongly manifest visual and auditory
00:00:10
hallucinations this is coupled with
00:00:12
dilated pupils elevated heart rate and a
00:00:15
strange phenomenon called ego
00:00:17
dissolution this is when your own person
00:00:19
your sense of self turns into nothing
00:00:22
disintegrates you are no longer a human
00:00:24
you're no longer yourself and what's
00:00:26
left is the lsd experience what's left
00:00:30
is the trip
00:00:31
this video will cover one story in
00:00:33
particular a haunting experience about a
00:00:35
man whose perception was radically
00:00:37
altered by this substance the story that
00:00:39
i'm about to tell you and one similar
00:00:41
like it can all be found on one website
00:00:44
arrowwood.org a place where trip reports
00:00:47
are shared both good and bad and if

00:00:59
our first story is from hiyabx
00:01:02
about 10 years ago i bought my third tab
00:01:05
from a guy in my hometown in norwich uk
00:01:07
it was a strawberry tab and i was told
00:01:10
that had been double dipped the guy had
00:01:12
a reputation of selling good acid so i
00:01:14
happily gave him my cash my being in
00:01:16
norwich was just a social visit over a
00:01:18
couple of days and catching up with
00:01:20
friends on the last day there i decided
00:01:22
to drop a tab and use my friend's home
00:01:24
as a trip hq
00:01:26
he knew what i was up to he had gone to
00:01:28
work and left me his keys to make myself
00:01:30
comfortable
00:01:31
i took the single lsd tab in the late
00:01:34
morning in a positive state of mind with
00:01:36
no worries or anxieties i began to come
00:01:39
up on the acid towards lunchtime it was
00:01:41
the first time and the last time i'd
00:01:43
ever trip alone
00:01:45
outside it was a glorious sunny day but
00:01:48
i was happy enough in my temporary
00:01:49
sanctuary to not really think about
00:01:51
going outside after a while the lsd rush
00:01:54
started blazing up my spine and racing
00:01:57
through my guts i felt a little uneasy
00:01:59
but i had enough in mind to allow myself
00:02:01
to just go with it and just wait until
00:02:03
the rush plateaued
00:02:05
after a while it calmed down i decided
00:02:07
to sit upstairs in the house and listen
00:02:09
to some music on the radio in the sunlit
00:02:11
bedroom i was having a wonderful time
00:02:13
watching floral escher type patterns
00:02:15
breaking over my skin i enjoyed looking
00:02:18
in the mirror looking at my grinning
00:02:20
face and this distinct map contour
00:02:22
patterns gently washing over my flesh it
00:02:25
really seemed like a great start
00:02:27
well i vaguely recalled deciding to go
00:02:30
downstairs again for some reason and the
00:02:32
next thing i recall was awakening on the
00:02:34
floor of the dining room alone the first
00:02:37
thing i noticed was that there were blow
00:02:39
flies buzzing around a bowl of cat food
00:02:41
on the kitchen floor which was in view
00:02:44
i remember feeling perplexed as to why
00:02:46
both flies had two bright neon after
00:02:48
images in red and blue
00:02:51
i sat up and tried to figure out why i
00:02:52
was on the floor in the first place now
00:02:54
it's worth pointing out before i take
00:02:56
you down this helter skelter that
00:02:58
somehow because of my blackout i had
00:03:01
completely forgotten that i'd taken
00:03:02
anything at all
00:03:04
prior to tripping though i wrote myself
00:03:06
a note of reassurance in case things got
00:03:08
too weird so sitting up on the floor
00:03:10
still i found my note and tried to read
00:03:12
it alas because i was on acid the words
00:03:16
made no sense to me instead they morphed
00:03:18
like alien glyphs and danced around the
00:03:20
piece of paper
00:03:22
it was then my last little link of
00:03:24
sanity crumbled and i heard my voice
00:03:26
utter the terrifying words i've gone mad
00:03:29
i had a feeling that i had to be
00:03:31
somewhere else which then got heightened
00:03:33
by the digital watch i was wearing
00:03:35
suddenly beeping a time alarm at me but
00:03:37
i had no idea why or what it meant so i
00:03:40
left my sanctuary and i later found out
00:03:42
that i left the back door wide open thus
00:03:44
making the house entirely a burglar's
00:03:46
free-for-all
00:03:47
i remember waking up almost on autopilot
00:03:50
on a busy street heading towards town i
00:03:52
saw one of my old teachers who saw me
00:03:54
but the only thing i did was force a
00:03:56
grin and keep on walking and i did
00:03:59
indeed walk not so much as a conscious
00:04:02
effort or with any sense of intent i
00:04:04
felt utterly out of control i collided
00:04:06
with someone carrying their shopping
00:04:08
vaguely heard them cuss at me as i
00:04:10
continued my stride i turned down a
00:04:12
passageway between two houses and
00:04:14
strolled through the back door of a
00:04:16
house i'd once lived in then passed the
00:04:18
new inhabitant and out the front door
00:04:21
i walked into the city center from there
00:04:23
i still don't know how i survived
00:04:25
crossing roads but i did from there i
00:04:29
strolled into a city cafe where my
00:04:31
friend's son was working he saw me and
00:04:33
said hello but in my acid adult state of
00:04:36
autopilot i just walked past him into
00:04:38
the main cafe and sat down
00:04:41
then i stood up and walked out of the
00:04:43
cafe without uttering a word other than
00:04:45
being completely out of lunch on lsd at
00:04:48
that time on the trip i don't recall
00:04:50
hallucinating instead i felt like a
00:04:52
puppet on a string guided by some
00:04:54
subconscious walking mechanism which had
00:04:56
its own design on where i should be and
00:04:59
there certainly wasn't any cognitive
00:05:00
thinking that guided my actions
00:05:03
after the brief cafe episode of the trip
00:05:06
the situation just went from bad to
00:05:08
worse somehow i navigated myself through
00:05:10
nourish and then began to head in the
00:05:13
direction of the city's central park as
00:05:15
a child i'd always felt a sense of
00:05:16
friendliness and comfort there but now
00:05:19
in my fried state of mind the familiar
00:05:21
comfort of this park had shifted to its
00:05:23
polar opposite i was now hallucinating
00:05:25
on top of everything else the people in
00:05:27
the park were walking around but my
00:05:29
perception had begun to distort their
00:05:31
heads and faces beyond any form of human
00:05:33
recognition if you could imagine for a
00:05:35
moment being surrounded by people in a
00:05:38
busy place where their heads had been
00:05:39
removed and replaced by squids and
00:05:41
octopus you might begin to accurately
00:05:44
picture the scene confronting me in this
00:05:46
park everyone had tentacles smothering
00:05:48
their faces and dangling down their
00:05:50
necks like fleshy snake beards even the
00:05:53
women and children were not exempt from
00:05:54
this disfiguration the octopoid heads
00:05:57
were white in appearance and each person
00:05:59
seemed to have baleful staring eyes
00:06:02
where their ears should have been even
00:06:04
in my state of autopilot i felt nothing
00:06:06
but sheer terror at this alien swarm of
00:06:08
people walking around me my feet
00:06:10
obviously decided to take evasive
00:06:12
maneuvers because i then found myself
00:06:14
out of the park having crossed yet
00:06:15
another treacherous main road and was
00:06:18
now heading towards a multi-story
00:06:20
apartment block
00:06:21
i recall that i got inside the building
00:06:23
somehow and wandered in circles on one
00:06:25
of the floors of the apartment block i
00:06:27
seemed stuck in a loop of wanting to get
00:06:29
out walking around a circle of short
00:06:31
corridors and arriving at a janitor's
00:06:33
cupboard i would open the door expecting
00:06:36
to find an exit and be confronted by the
00:06:38
dead end of cleaning products and brooms
00:06:40
i would repeat this several times like a
00:06:42
fly that desperately flies around in
00:06:44
circles around the kitchen only to
00:06:46
collide with the same window again and
00:06:48
again and again
00:06:50
i don't remember how i finally broke the
00:06:52
loop but i did the next thing that
00:06:54
happened was the memory of walking
00:06:55
around some side streets into someone's
00:06:58
back garden via alleyway and i recall a
00:07:01
middle-aged woman looking a little
00:07:02
afraid of me because i was in her yard
00:07:05
and seeing her rush into the house
00:07:07
closing the door behind her i left the
00:07:09
yard and i think i walked between two
00:07:11
garages the gap between them was tight
00:07:13
perhaps i tried to go through it anyway
00:07:15
in my mind i was being trapped inside an
00:07:18
ever tightening spiral that i
00:07:20
relentlessly marched along as the spiral
00:07:23
tightened my body would begin to crush
00:07:25
if it were to continue down the spiral i
00:07:27
would surely be crushed to my final atom
00:07:30
this realization broke me out of my loop
00:07:32
and then i quickly realized that i was
00:07:34
next to another main road in norwich in
00:07:36
front of someone's garden while looking
00:07:38
at the garden in front of this house the
00:07:40
inside of my mouth felt like plant
00:07:42
matter and when i tried to scream my
00:07:44
tongue shot out a mix of flesh and
00:07:46
thorny rose stem the situation was
00:07:49
utterly hopeless and it's getting worse
00:07:51
and worse with each lysergic internal
00:07:54
minute over the other side of the main
00:07:56
road was a dental repair workshop it was
00:07:58
a discreet looking place and it looked
00:08:01
just as much as part of the houses that
00:08:02
were above it i recall that i walked
00:08:04
into this workshop to the surprise of
00:08:06
the men who were working there i think
00:08:08
they said hey where do you think you're
00:08:09
going etc but i was too far gone and on
00:08:13
my way out again still under the
00:08:15
guidance of the momentum and hidden
00:08:16
agenda of this autopilot within me the
00:08:19
adjacent street began the final demise
00:08:22
of my terrifying trip and you'll have to
00:08:24
indulge me in this part and go with the
00:08:26
flow of reality and abstract woven
00:08:28
together first off like a lemming i
00:08:31
walked across this side road onto the
00:08:33
pavement and then promptly plummeted a
00:08:35
good seven feet into someone's basement
00:08:38
flat there had been probably been a
00:08:40
flight of steps leading down to this
00:08:41
concrete pit but i didn't see them and i
00:08:44
wouldn't have known what to do with them
00:08:46
if i had
00:08:47
i guess i clamored up the street level
00:08:48
again and limped my way up to the street
00:08:50
which was a bit of a cul-de-sac part of
00:08:53
my subconscious memory must have
00:08:54
recalled that an ex-girlfriend had lived
00:08:56
there and i found myself walking up to
00:08:59
her old front door which was one of
00:09:00
those aluminum framed double glazed
00:09:02
types i recall my reflection in the door
00:09:05
looking somewhat like a francis bacon
00:09:07
painting a mixture of anguished flesh
00:09:10
and black oils dripping like blood down
00:09:12
my body i was falling in internal
00:09:15
darkness like a fleshy sack of bricks as
00:09:18
i fell forever i would crash through the
00:09:20
intermittent pains of glass that would
00:09:22
shatter and tear me in never-ending
00:09:24
descent with the sound of breaking glass
00:09:27
was the wavering crescendo of the word
00:09:30
mad repeating in waves
00:09:32
mad
00:09:33
mad
00:09:34
mad
00:09:35
mad
00:09:36
mad
00:09:37
over and over and over as i plummeted i
00:09:40
ripped and torn into darkness with
00:09:42
splinters of glass falling beside me
00:09:45
these visuals and in auditory
00:09:47
hallucinations brought me down to my
00:09:49
knees i was now a seven-year-old child
00:09:52
laying on the pavement my best friend's
00:09:54
parents stood over me feeling concerned
00:09:57
asking what happened
00:09:58
he hit his head someone says call an
00:10:01
ambulance someone says and during all of
00:10:03
this a disc shaped hole appeared above
00:10:05
me with someone's arm reaching down to
00:10:08
try and pull me up into safety i tried
00:10:10
to reach up to the grasping hand but i
00:10:12
couldn't then the hole disappeared
00:10:15
after that moment i was staggering along
00:10:18
the street again at the bottom of the
00:10:19
cul-de-sac my gaze lifted into the sky
00:10:22
and the sky's gaze fell upon me each
00:10:24
cloud was now a giant type of
00:10:26
amoeba-type organism covered in dots
00:10:28
which pulsated in color like the skin of
00:10:30
a cuttlefish each giant amoeba had a
00:10:33
giant blue human looking eye observing
00:10:36
me i could hear voices taunting me
00:10:38
telling me i was stupid telling me how
00:10:40
thick i was for looking for the answers
00:10:42
telling me i had [ __ ] consciousness
00:10:45
the amoebas seemed to be singing a
00:10:47
never-ending song which was something
00:10:49
like this i am an unschematic peel and
00:10:51
if you ever know what i feel then i know
00:10:54
that i felt like this before and i
00:10:56
always knew what i was timely for and
00:10:58
this was repeated a thousand times i
00:11:01
briefly saw existence as a giant clock
00:11:03
face of a billion dots between each
00:11:05
second the dots were clicking forward in
00:11:08
a relentless advance like the movement
00:11:10
of the second hand and i realized in
00:11:12
that moment each dot was the equivalent
00:11:14
of someone's lifetime my internal
00:11:16
monologue was running this entire time
00:11:19
it described that living and dying was
00:11:21
part of this internal chain and that the
00:11:23
clock was measuring it all then the
00:11:26
monologue started laughing at my dismay
00:11:28
in reality i became conscious enough to
00:11:30
recognize that i've been stumbling
00:11:31
through a children's play area at the
00:11:33
base of the cul-de-sac it's worth
00:11:34
describing to you a little bit about the
00:11:36
geography of the area i was adjacent to
00:11:38
the cul-de-sac was a small path that
00:11:40
leads about four flights of stone steps
00:11:42
leading down to the street below this
00:11:44
street is called park lane and if you go
00:11:46
through the gap in the fence at the back
00:11:48
of the children's play area there's a
00:11:50
steep overgrown embankment that leads
00:11:53
down to a flint gravel parking area at
00:11:55
the rear of the park lane hotel guess
00:11:58
which route i took in reality i patched
00:12:00
the gap of the fence failed to notice
00:12:02
the dangerous drop below and then
00:12:04
tumbled down the embankment into the
00:12:06
flint parking area i was crawling on my
00:12:08
hands and knees by this point a piece of
00:12:10
flint had torn the palm of my hand
00:12:12
making it look like a stigmata wound
00:12:14
which was pretty appropriate to the
00:12:15
following delusion once i looked up from
00:12:17
my palm
00:12:18
the entire parking lot looked like a sea
00:12:20
of holes after looking up from the
00:12:22
ground i noticed that i'm in a white
00:12:24
void with an infinity of swarming black
00:12:26
dots i could hear air raid sirens in the
00:12:29
sounds of buzzing i looked down again at
00:12:31
the sea of dots and i noticed a cross
00:12:34
which had a festering pile of bloody
00:12:37
guts and organs spread across it
00:12:39
staining the wood and crimson the guts
00:12:41
were smothered in wasps stinging the
00:12:43
ruined flesh causing venomous pestilence
00:12:46
it was an image of impossible pain and
00:12:49
then the monologue returned booming over
00:12:51
the sirens and droning over the wasps
00:12:54
this is christ he is still suffering for
00:12:56
your sins still paying the price more
00:12:58
laughter than a fleeting moment of
00:13:00
reality i just chose to cross the park
00:13:02
lane i wanted to leave i collapsed in
00:13:04
the gutter on the other side of the road
00:13:06
my jacket was gone and i noticed i was
00:13:08
covered in cuts and grazes at that very
00:13:12
moment a wasp had landed on my elbow and
00:13:14
was making a snack for itself of my cuts
00:13:17
i remember trying to brush it away and
00:13:18
it sting me as i did i managed to get
00:13:21
this wasp off of me and i noticed there
00:13:24
was a woman pushing a pram and looking
00:13:26
at me with concern and for a moment
00:13:28
looking at her granted me a second of
00:13:31
sanity but the moment she was outside of
00:13:33
my sight i was thrown right back into
00:13:35
lsd hell my body was a giant green mass
00:13:39
of flesh punctured all over by cactus
00:13:42
like thorns that had grown from within
00:13:44
and broken my skin on the way out i had
00:13:47
no arms and legs i was more like a mass
00:13:49
of tendrils my form was that of pain and
00:13:52
nothing more and nothing less a brief
00:13:54
flash of a police car pulling up beside
00:13:57
me and someone getting out
00:13:59
i was in pain floating in a sea of holes
00:14:01
there were billions of holes each one a
00:14:04
passage leading into an identical ocean
00:14:06
of swarming black dots
00:14:08
the monologue told me there was only one
00:14:10
hole which led me away from here
00:14:13
and in one blink
00:14:14
i was in a hospital lying on a padded
00:14:17
vinyl mattress with medics standing
00:14:19
around me
00:14:20
i noticed i was human shaped again and
00:14:22
at that very moment the door swung open
00:14:25
to reveal a idyllic countryside scene
00:14:28
of green hilly pastures bathed in
00:14:30
glorious sunlight and a friendly looking
00:14:33
oak tree in the foreground view
00:14:35
if only i could crawl through those
00:14:37
doors i would be safe my soul saved but
00:14:40
i couldn't move
00:14:42
the door swung shut and opened again and
00:14:44
now i could see a hospital corridor
00:14:45
instead of the fields someone was being
00:14:48
pushed past on a stretcher and in that
00:14:50
moment i knew that my salvation was lost
00:14:52
i was thrust back into the sea of holes
00:14:55
it seems that my gaze in any direction
00:14:57
would erase the black dots and their
00:14:59
masses for the first time in this
00:15:01
nightmare i felt a sense of conscious
00:15:04
hope i began to wipe swaths of dots by
00:15:07
sweeping glances in the void around me
00:15:10
what have you taken i was gaining hope
00:15:12
by the minute stripping the black dots
00:15:14
away removing these taunting false exits
00:15:17
what have you taken was it acid
00:15:19
surrounded by self-created white void of
00:15:21
comfort i i gazed at the final bunch of
00:15:24
black dots and i knew my release from
00:15:26
hell was merely held by these remaining
00:15:28
few he's out of it still
00:15:30
i gazed at all but two black dots away
00:15:33
these two now had a bridge akin to a
00:15:36
line seen in a dot-to-dot puzzle in my
00:15:39
mind my voice returned as i stared at
00:15:41
each dot i heard my internal voice
00:15:44
yelling one two one two one one two then
00:15:49
the two dots looked like my own hands
00:15:51
with cuffs around them the black line
00:15:54
bridge had become a visible chain
00:15:56
the white void had faded to become a
00:15:57
hospital room i was in fact on my back
00:16:00
on a hospital bed with my arms taped
00:16:02
behind me i was looking through my legs
00:16:05
at my wrists grazed with the rubbing
00:16:07
pressure of police handcuffs around them
00:16:09
and then i yelled get these [ __ ]
00:16:11
handcuffs off me get them off of me in
00:16:13
the room with me were a male and female
00:16:15
police officer they had obviously been
00:16:18
the people who had lifted me from the
00:16:19
park lane gutter and taken me to the
00:16:21
hospital the male officer obliged my
00:16:24
demand and removed the cuffs and the
00:16:26
female police officer asked me stuff
00:16:27
like my name and if i knew where i was
00:16:30
but the best thing i could muster was a
00:16:32
brief groan they both looked a bit
00:16:34
frustrated and left me in the room on
00:16:36
the hospital bed alone i was rapidly
00:16:39
regaining my sense of self and conscious
00:16:41
of reality i recalled that i indeed
00:16:44
dropped acid sometime earlier my
00:16:46
hospital surroundings and the amount of
00:16:48
cuts and bruises i had were a
00:16:49
confirmation to me that whatever i'd
00:16:51
done it had seriously backfired big time
00:16:54
i sat on the edge of the hospital bed
00:16:56
noted a number of missing items i had
00:16:58
recalled having on my person prior to
00:17:00
all of this i found my pumps in the
00:17:02
bedside cabinet and put them on then i
00:17:04
took my first deliberate steps across
00:17:06
the room the bizarre nature of this
00:17:09
entire episode had one final twist
00:17:11
installed for me
00:17:13
i recall walking to the door of my
00:17:14
single bedroom and opening it a few feet
00:17:17
away from me were the two police
00:17:18
officers facing each other having an
00:17:19
intense conversation about what to do
00:17:21
about me they were so engrossed in their
00:17:23
discussion that neither of them noticed
00:17:25
as i came out of the room and began
00:17:27
walking down the hospital corridor there
00:17:29
was a window that stood from floor to
00:17:31
ceiling the type that pivots in the
00:17:33
central vertical axis so judging that i
00:17:35
could fit through the gap i squeezed
00:17:37
through it there's little left to tell
00:17:39
of this story except to say my walk from
00:17:41
the hospital to the train station was
00:17:43
quite distressing i was in a lot of pain
00:17:46
had stitches on my chin my elbow and
00:17:49
hand my right forearm had swollen up
00:17:51
purple making it look like popeye's
00:17:53
right hook
00:17:54
i was still semi-hallucinating but very
00:17:56
aware of how i'd nearly died and how i
00:17:59
had a lot of explaining to do when i got
00:18:01
home to my girlfriend there were no
00:18:03
legal repercussions for giving the
00:18:04
police the slip i had caught a train
00:18:06
back home to a village in suffolk which
00:18:08
was outside of the norfolk police's
00:18:10
jurisdiction however they had contacted
00:18:13
my father who was in norfolk so i had a
00:18:15
quite a bit of explaining to do for him
00:18:17
too
00:18:18
in retrospect it was the worst day of my
00:18:20
entire life
00:18:22
it was the closest i can imagine to
00:18:23
having full-blown psychosis i think it
00:18:26
was nothing short of a miracle that i
00:18:27
didn't end up over someone's car bonnet
00:18:29
or worse do i believe the monologues and
00:18:32
symbols of that day
00:18:33
i'm not entirely sure i do
00:18:35
i now understand the intense adrenaline
00:18:37
bursts while hallucinating are
00:18:38
responsible for dragging the mind into
00:18:40
an abyss of fear in the worst possible
00:18:42
scenarios i kind of feel that i would
00:18:44
have had a very bleak outlook for life
00:18:46
in reality if i believed for a moment
00:18:48
that anything i saw on that trip was
00:18:50
true i've had some other trips which
00:18:52
were glorious and the polar opposite of
00:18:54
that day so i tend to agree with adilas
00:18:58
huxley that heaven and hell are both
00:19:00
valid states of consciousness it all
00:19:02
depends on where the person is at and
00:19:04
how we navigate through the psychedelic
00:19:06
state which determines which destination
00:19:08
we arrive at if anything puzzles me
00:19:10
about that day it would have to be the
00:19:12
blackout i experienced early in the trip
00:19:15
i suspect that if i had not lost
00:19:17
consciousness i probably would have not
00:19:18
forgotten that i took a drug and
00:19:20
therefore wouldn't have panicked myself
00:19:22
into an eternal hell fractal
00:19:26
this trip report was shared on october
00:19:28
5th 2003 and it functions as a
00:19:31
cautionary tale as to why you shouldn't
00:19:33
experiment with potent psychedelics but
00:19:35
to those who have tried psychedelics i
00:19:37
want you to share your thoughts about
00:19:38
this bad trip in the comments down below
00:19:41
and even if you've never tried
00:19:42
psychedelics i want to know what your
00:19:44
