00:00:00
everything I know about day trading I've
00:00:02
learned from David green and I we've
00:00:04
taught in Wall Street Global Trading
00:00:06
Academy if you want to know more and you
00:00:07
want to really become a successful day
00:00:09
trader go to Wall Street Global Trading
00:00:11
Academy and that's all I got to say
00:00:13
about that we're back at the New York
00:00:15
Stock Exchange for another incredible
00:00:16
interview with none other than the man
00:00:18
the myth the legend Mr Peter Bo CH
00:00:21
addict how you doing Einstein on Wall
00:00:23
Street from the balcony at the New York
00:00:24
Stock Exchange welcome if somebody
00:00:26
wanted to come and get a seat on the
00:00:27
floor here what would that require so
00:00:31
historically back in the day people
00:00:32
would come down as I said there's no
00:00:34
training for this job they would start
00:00:36
at the bottom and they would go up the
00:00:38
the the wrong until they got us they
00:00:40
were they they got the confidence and
00:00:42
the wherewithal to show people that they
00:00:44
were trustworthy they were good with
00:00:45
numbers they were able to pass a number
00:00:47
of exams and then a company would
00:00:49
sponsor them to give them a seat they
00:00:51
issued 1366 seats in 1903 those seats
00:00:55
were traded at different prices it was
00:00:57
always aidden and offer by people
00:00:59
because in order to trade to have the
00:01:01
right to trade you have to have a seat
00:01:02
on the stock exchange in order to get a
00:01:04
seat on the stock exchange you have to
00:01:05
be sponsored by a brokerage firm a a
00:01:08
company that had a broker dealer okay
00:01:11
all these components of this Market
00:01:14
don't exist anymore there is no longer
00:01:16
that incredible tranch of support staff
00:01:19
of people who work here they're market
00:01:21
makers and clerks and Brokers so there's
00:01:24
not as much demand unfortunately with
00:01:27
all the with all the changes that
00:01:28
technology has happened to all
00:01:30
Industries we those 70 Market making
00:01:33
firms have merged into three those 1366
00:01:36
Brokers have merged into about 600 so
00:01:40
there are no longer squads there are
00:01:41
very few clerks there are still Brokers
00:01:44
we are still the most significant human
00:01:47
uhh uh running Marketplace in the world
00:01:50
and I believe we are it's way more
00:01:52
important that there are humans behind
00:01:55
volatile markets that we're seeing I'm
00:01:56
looking so while we're doing this
00:01:58
interview I'm more I'm looking at the
00:02:00
market we we came in sort of flat this
00:02:02
morning this Market has rallied huge so
00:02:04
far today we're up numerous hundreds of
00:02:06
points uh as we were down yesterday so
00:02:09
we're seeing this C crazy wild
00:02:11
volatility unfortunately my son does
00:02:14
have a seat on the stock exchange he is
00:02:16
my partner and he always you say
00:02:17
unfortunately or fortunately fortunately
00:02:20
always work with your family sometimes
00:02:22
anyway um uh but for the longest time he
00:02:25
always wanted to work here and there was
00:02:27
a period of time I wasn't sure that was
00:02:28
going to happen this used to be a very
00:02:30
family oriented business most of the
00:02:32
market making firms were family-owned
00:02:34
businesses unfortunately due to
00:02:36
technology due to mergers and
00:02:38
Acquisitions due to the nature of the
00:02:40
market there's not as many as demand for
00:02:43
more people are leaving here
00:02:44
unfortunately uh the human element of
00:02:47
the market then are joining it although
00:02:49
the New York Stock Exchange has made a
00:02:50
major effort to rebuild itself Rebrand
00:02:53
itself and bring people back and make
00:02:55
the human entity that much more relevant
00:02:58
we've done a great job at that that's
00:02:59
why I'm still here I've been here for
00:03:01
137 years and I'm still freaking trading
00:03:04
I went to high school with Alexander
00:03:05
Hamilton he's buried across the street
00:03:08
designed Church Peter actually designed
00:03:10
the tobacco leaves here don't know the
00:03:14
long a long answer to a short question
00:03:16
was that the opportunities to get seats
00:03:19
on the stock exchange while they are
00:03:20
still around we just actually got a seat
00:03:23
for Drew Cohen downstairs on the on the
00:03:25
floor he's one of our new interns who
00:03:27
decided he really wanted to be here so
00:03:29
it is possible you've got to get a job
00:03:31
with a brokerage firm you've got to
00:03:33
spend probably a couple of years
00:03:35
learning the game you've got to take a
00:03:37
number of exams that are really really
00:03:39
difficult to pass you need to be
00:03:41
sponsored by a BD a broker dealer and
00:03:44
you can get a seat and you can become a
00:03:45
Trader so yes it is possible it's not as
00:03:48
easy as it was before but it was really
00:03:49
never easy because as I said it was a it
00:03:52
was a business that was in it very
00:03:54
attractive to be in people made good
00:03:56
money doing it but it took 13 to 15
00:03:59
years to go from being a runner of squad
00:04:01
who made 67 bucks a week running around
00:04:04
the floor it's a commitment right
00:04:06
anything that you do and you do well is
00:04:08
a commitment if you guys are out there
00:04:09
learning to day trade the market it's a
00:04:12
commitment don't think this is about
00:04:13
getting rich quick it's not about that
00:04:15
and don't think that you're going to go
00:04:16
to sleep put the video under your pillow
00:04:19
and wake up and suddenly be a great
00:04:20
freaking Trader you're going to get out
00:04:22
of it what you put into it it takes 3 to
00:04:24
6 months okay and I I I beg of you to
00:04:28
try and sort of approach it as being a
00:04:30
singles and doubles hitter and not a
00:04:31
home run hitter because look at the end
00:04:33
of the day I talk to retail Traders all
00:04:35
the time and I'll ask guys so how are
00:04:38
you doing and they'll go W I'm bet
00:04:39
betting 80% I said oh so you must be
00:04:41
profitable well no I'm down five grand I
00:04:43
said explain that to me well so well I
00:04:46
had four trades and I made $100 each and
00:04:49
on my fifth trade I lost eight grand
00:04:51
well that doesn't make any sense that's
00:04:53
not a sustainable trading strategy right
00:04:56
fomo hope hype are not trading
00:04:58
strategies at the end of the DAT as I
00:05:01
said at the end of the day as I said
00:05:02
earlier I'm willing to risk 50 to make
00:05:04
200 I'm not willing to risk 200 to make
00:05:08
50 so just think of it in your mind that
00:05:11
when you get up in the morning and you
00:05:12
sit down in front of your computer to
00:05:14
trade and you're rubbing your hands
00:05:15
together how much money am I going to
00:05:17
make today turn that on its head and
00:05:19
think how much am I willing to risk
00:05:21
today to make some money and if I set
00:05:24
the parameters of my downside risk as a
00:05:27
as opposed to thinking how rich am I
00:05:29
going to get today it's all the it's the
00:05:32
psychology of day trading that makes you
00:05:34
either successful or a failure and
00:05:37
that's the basic net approach to this
00:05:39
thing so good remove the emotion and
00:05:40
focus on those two logical components
00:05:42
which is your win rate and your risk and
00:05:44
reward exctly if the math makes sense
00:05:46
you're going to make money and if you're
00:05:47
trading off of hype or emotion just like
00:05:49
Peter said not going to work out now if
00:05:51
bendy wanted to go and become a retail
00:05:52
Trader and you and David could leave him
00:05:54
with one piece of advice only what would
00:05:56
you and David tell him you know what I I
00:05:59
be I don't really understand the
00:06:02
upstairs game in this business so like
00:06:04
to be a retail Trader up on a desk I
00:06:06
would rather he go out and become a day
00:06:08
trader right because I've seen I've seen
00:06:11
first of all look there's nothing more
00:06:12
exciting than day trading and being
00:06:15
successful at it and there are lots of
00:06:17
people we have thousands of students who
00:06:19
have literally turned their lives around
00:06:21
people who didn't know anything from a
00:06:23
stock from a stock to a stock have gone
00:06:25
on to become good day Traders people who
00:06:27
have been retail Traders and been strugg
00:06:29
Ling we've been able to turn their lives
00:06:31
around people who left their jobs lost
00:06:34
their jobs needed to make disposable
00:06:36
income we've been able to give them the
00:06:38
opportunity by teaching them the rules
00:06:40
of the game giving them the Playbook as
00:06:43
you do also so look there are a lot of
00:06:45
opportunities to go out there and learn
00:06:47
the game look I would say to him look
00:06:49
never get emotional about money go out
00:06:52
there and be a singles and doubles
00:06:53
hitter but learn the game before you do
00:06:56
it don't get wrapped up and look there
00:06:57
are people who trade there are people
00:06:59
who get
00:07:00
I always think I always use the analogy
00:07:02
of a guy who sits down I've actually
00:07:03
never been the veggas nobody believes
00:07:05
that I'm not I'm not a card player but
00:07:07
there are two kinds of gamblers there's
00:07:09
a person who goes to Vegas who sits down
00:07:12
at the card table he has a plan right he
00:07:15
has a plan that he's going out there
00:07:17
he's got $1,000 if he makes a thousand
00:07:19
off his thousand he's going to leave the
00:07:21
table go to Ruth Chris get a nice day go
00:07:24
see Elton John and it's going to be a
00:07:25
beautiful evening and then there's the
00:07:27
other Trader okay who has has no plan
00:07:30
whatsoever who sits down he's up he's
00:07:33
got $1,000 he's up 2 thou he's up 3 thou
00:07:36
he's got Diamond hands he thinks he's
00:07:37
the Master Trader he goes all in on
00:07:39
trades the $3,000 profit turns into an
00:07:42
$8,000 loss he's been to the ATM four
00:07:46
times he's sitting out on the curb
00:07:48
drinking fraking Hennessy smoking
00:07:49
cigarettes he's got to call his partner
00:07:51
to say I don't have enough money for the
00:07:53
freaking rent those are the two things
00:07:55
here so there are secrets to day trading
00:07:59
every everything I know about day
00:08:00
trading I've learned from David green
00:08:02
and I we've taught in Wall Street Global
00:08:04
Trading Academy there are five Secrets
00:08:07
which I'm going to lay out to you if you
00:08:08
want to know more about this you can go
00:08:10
to my Instagram page there a link tree
00:08:12
to Wall Street Global Trading Academy
00:08:14
you can go to WS gta.com it's a
00:08:17
spectacular course it's really full it's
00:08:19
it's we worked so hard to curate a great
00:08:22
course it comes with coaching and
00:08:23
mentoring it's accessible affordable and
00:08:26
fun first of all if you want to become a
00:08:28
day trader have a plan when you get into
00:08:30
a stock ask yourself why am I buying or
00:08:33
shorting this stock okay and the only
00:08:35
two reasons to do that are either price
00:08:37
action or technical analysis on every
00:08:40
trade that you make you must have a stop
00:08:43
order if you have a mental stop you're
00:08:45
mental you have a stop order and you
00:08:47
never change it if you're in a trade and
00:08:49
it goes against you you're out of the
00:08:51
trade you move on to the next one if
00:08:53
you're in a trade and it becomes
00:08:55
successful take a profit while you can
00:08:58
up 50 cents up a
00:08:59
move your stop order up to break even so
00:09:02
you can never turn a winning trade into
00:09:04
a losing trade and then use a trailing
00:09:06
stop to make as much out of your winners
00:09:08
and loses least out of your losers if
00:09:11
you're having a bad day and we all have
00:09:13
bad days three losing trades in a row
00:09:17
you turn the machine off and go home
00:09:19
doesn't make you a loser doesn't make
00:09:20
you a bad Trader you'll come back from a
00:09:22
bad day you'll come back from a bad week
00:09:24
but you will not come back from Revenge
00:09:26
trading where you turn your account
00:09:28
that's Up 4 Grand into a loser of 20
00:09:30
grand and I've seen it time and time
00:09:33
again okay never turn a winning trade
00:09:36
into a losing trade never turn a winning
00:09:38
day into a losing day never Revenge
00:09:41
trade if you're losing turn the machine
00:09:42
off and go home those are the five
00:09:44
secrets that David's taught me okay we
00:09:47
teach them every day the psychology of
00:09:50
trading everybody can be taught to hit a
00:09:52
buy button or a short button it's what
00:09:54
you do when you get into a trade that
00:09:57
matters right no one got broke taking a
00:09:59
profit
00:10:01
okay those are the those are the
00:10:03
simplest secrets that I can give you
00:10:05
knowing what I just told you you will be
00:10:07
a 50% better Trader and I gave you that
00:10:10
for free right and going forward if
00:10:13
