When Mean Girls Become Murderers
Sintesi

The Biggest Mistake Beginners Make When Web Scraping
- 00:00:04hey guys and welcome
- 00:00:05back to my channel so today we're going
- 00:00:09to be talking about a case that
- 00:00:10has been highly highly requested by you
- 00:00:13guys
- 00:00:14in my case form and this case is
- 00:00:17absolutely wild i see why so many people
- 00:00:20wanted me to talk about it and there's a
- 00:00:22lot to go over here so let's go ahead
- 00:00:23and
- 00:00:24jump right in so this is skyler annette
- 00:00:27niece
- 00:00:28she was born on february 10th 1996.
- 00:00:31these are her parents mary and dave
- 00:00:32niece mary worked as an administrative
- 00:00:34assistant in a cardiac lab
- 00:00:36and dave was a product assembler at
- 00:00:38walmart and skyler was an extremely
- 00:00:40loved child you can just tell by the way
- 00:00:43that her parents talk about her that she
- 00:00:45was the light
- 00:00:46of their lives and she also was their
- 00:00:48only child so she
- 00:00:50meant everything to them first time i
- 00:00:53saw her yes i can say that was the
- 00:00:54greatest moment of my life
- 00:00:56yeah it was instant love and as she was
- 00:00:59growing up
- 00:00:59mary and dave said that skyler was a
- 00:01:01very easy child that she was very
- 00:01:04sweet and genuine she had just a huge
- 00:01:07heart she loved to play outside she
- 00:01:09loved animals she would bring home
- 00:01:11strays all the time
- 00:01:12this one was a stray that's right
- 00:01:16i'm talking about you so when skyler was
- 00:01:18in second grade she started meeting some
- 00:01:20new friends and one of her new friends
- 00:01:21was named
- 00:01:22sheila eddie and they became very very
- 00:01:24close
- 00:01:25and she went to another school they met
- 00:01:27at a community center but they were
- 00:01:29super close
- 00:01:30and when they did hang out they always
- 00:01:31had a lot of fun when mary and dave
- 00:01:32first met sheila they thought she was a
- 00:01:34super
- 00:01:34nice girl she had some issues at home
- 00:01:37her
- 00:01:38parents got divorced when she was four
- 00:01:39years old and her dad also was disabled
- 00:01:41so he couldn't work
- 00:01:42so it was pretty stressful for her and
- 00:01:44she was also an only child
- 00:01:46just like skylar so the two of them
- 00:01:49really bonded over that
- 00:01:50and mary and dave really wanted to be as
- 00:01:52welcoming as they could to sheila they
- 00:01:54would have her over all the time for
- 00:01:56dinners
- 00:01:56play dates all that stuff sleepovers she
- 00:01:59was so used to coming to their house
- 00:02:00that she would just
- 00:02:01walk right in and they were fine with
- 00:02:02that skyler's family lived in an
- 00:02:04apartment in star city west virginia
- 00:02:06which is a small town in magnolia county
- 00:02:08and skyler really enjoyed playing with
- 00:02:10sheila she was definitely
- 00:02:12a fun person to hang out with she was a
- 00:02:14bit of a wild child and i think
- 00:02:16that was kind of interesting to skyler
- 00:02:18and like i said the girls went to
- 00:02:19different schools but when they got into
- 00:02:21high school
- 00:02:22sheila ended up transferring to
- 00:02:23university high school which is where
- 00:02:25skyler went and they were really excited
- 00:02:28and she really liked high school
- 00:02:29she did really well in school actually
- 00:02:32teachers really liked her
- 00:02:33and she had high hopes one day of
- 00:02:35becoming a lawyer
- 00:02:37yes she wanted to be a criminal lawyer
- 00:02:39and she would
- 00:02:40constantly do you think i'd make a good
- 00:02:43lawyer mom and of course
- 00:02:44dave and i work she'd say dad whichever
- 00:02:47and we'd say
- 00:02:47the way you argue oh you'd be an
- 00:02:49excellent lawyer
- 00:02:51she was a very responsible kid she also
- 00:02:53had a job
- 00:02:54in high school and she worked at a
- 00:02:56wendy's where two of her other friends
- 00:02:57worked as well and she really liked that
- 00:02:59job so at school sheila was definitely
- 00:03:01known as a confident
- 00:03:02and i guess you could say popular girl
- 00:03:04at this point sheila's parents got
- 00:03:06remarried
- 00:03:07and she really liked her stepdad so she
- 00:03:09was feeling more comfortable in her home
- 00:03:11life than ever before
- 00:03:12and now skyler and sheila were spending
- 00:03:14a lot more time together
- 00:03:16so they were getting a lot closer and
- 00:03:18they were thrilled to be in the same
- 00:03:20school and eventually skyler and sheila
- 00:03:22added a
- 00:03:22third person to their group during their
- 00:03:25freshman year they met
- 00:03:26rachel show rachel's parents were
- 00:03:28divorced she had an older half-brother
- 00:03:30that she didn't grow up with so like
- 00:03:32skyler and sheila she was
- 00:03:33you know raised as an only child before
- 00:03:35high school rachel went to a private
- 00:03:37catholic school and she was pretty
- 00:03:38sheltered by a wealthy religious family
- 00:03:40and people who know her said that she
- 00:03:42really
- 00:03:42seemed to like attention she loved being
- 00:03:44in the school plays
- 00:03:46and she wasn't just in the school plays
- 00:03:47she was normally the star of the school
- 00:03:49plays
- 00:03:49and the three of them were really really
- 00:03:51close and they spent
- 00:03:52all of their free time together if they
- 00:03:55weren't actually physically together
- 00:03:56they were
- 00:03:57texting and they were actually really
- 00:03:59into twitter as well so they're
- 00:04:00constantly talking to each other a lot
- 00:04:02of people said they acted more like
- 00:04:03sisters than
- 00:04:04friends they were really really that
- 00:04:07close to a lot of people it seemed like
- 00:04:08nothing could ever break their
- 00:04:10friendship apart
- 00:04:11and mary and dave were really happy that
- 00:04:13skyler you know had such
- 00:04:14close friends but eventually over time
- 00:04:17they started having
- 00:04:19some inter-group jealousy i know so many
- 00:04:22of you have probably
- 00:04:23experienced this i know i definitely did
- 00:04:25with the two girls that i was friends
- 00:04:27with in
- 00:04:28high school i'm still friends with them
- 00:04:29now the three of us were really close
- 00:04:31but
- 00:04:31sometimes two of us would be closer and
- 00:04:35one person would kind of feel left out
- 00:04:37sometimes two of us would hang out and
- 00:04:39the other person was alone
- 00:04:41or i would be left alone you know i
- 00:04:43think a lot of people have
- 00:04:44experienced this and this was really
- 00:04:47starting to happen
- 00:04:48with rachel and sheila they seemed to be
- 00:04:51a lot closer
- 00:04:53and skylar seemed to be left out and was
- 00:04:56often feeling alone
- 00:04:57and by summer of 2012 sheila and rachel
- 00:05:00were
- 00:05:00really close and skyler definitely felt
- 00:05:03a little bit
- 00:05:04left out and on july 4th 2012 skyler
- 00:05:08was home alone because rachel and sheila
- 00:05:12had made plans
- 00:05:13and didn't invite her and obviously this
- 00:05:15was really upsetting so that day she was
- 00:05:17you know
- 00:05:18moping around feeling sad feeling lonely
- 00:05:21feeling left out and her mom felt really
- 00:05:23bad for her
- 00:05:24her mom suggested that maybe she read a
- 00:05:27book
- 00:05:27or do some homework skyler was a very
- 00:05:29very smart
- 00:05:30student she was an honor student she
- 00:05:32absolutely loved to read she really
- 00:05:34liked to read
- 00:05:35a lot of the classics so her mom thought
- 00:05:37you know this is something that she
- 00:05:38would want to do
- 00:05:39to make the time go by but not even that
- 00:05:42sounded fun to skyler on that day she
- 00:05:43just felt really down
- 00:05:44and that day she actually tweeted out
- 00:05:47sick of being at [ __ ] home
- 00:05:49thanks friends love to hang out with you
- 00:05:51all too so it was clear that skyler
- 00:05:53was hurt by sheila and rachel making
- 00:05:56plans without her so the next night july
- 00:05:585th
- 00:05:582012 skyler worked her shift at wendy's
- 00:06:00until about 10 p.m
- 00:06:02and when she got home her parents were
- 00:06:04in the living room just watching tv
- 00:06:06having a very casual night she walked in
- 00:06:08kind of took a peek at what they were
- 00:06:09watching
- 00:06:10hung out for a second and then gave them
- 00:06:11both a kiss good night
- 00:06:13and went up to bed she put her room
- 00:06:15around her mom gave her a kiss and
- 00:06:17gave her a hug and said i love you mom
- 00:06:19she turned to me and said i love you dad
- 00:06:21and she went to the room
- 00:06:22however skyler actually had some other
- 00:06:25plans
- 00:06:26she decided that she was going to be
- 00:06:28sneaking out that night so at about 12
- 00:06:2930 a.m
- 00:06:30on friday july 6th skyler snuck
- 00:06:34out of her house through her bedroom
- 00:06:36window skyler used a small
- 00:06:38bench on the ground underneath the
- 00:06:40window to help her climb out and she
- 00:06:43took a bunch of her
- 00:06:44you know regularly carried items with
- 00:06:46her her purse her cell phone her wallet
- 00:06:48and there's actually surveillance video
- 00:06:50that you can see of her leaving the
- 00:06:52apartment complex at 12 31 am
- 00:06:54you can see in the clip she's walking
- 00:06:56through the parking lot across the
- 00:06:57street
- 00:06:58to where a car is waiting and then she
- 00:07:00gets into the back seat and they drive
- 00:07:02away now sneaking out was something that
- 00:07:04skyler had been doing
- 00:07:05more of lately she definitely started to
- 00:07:07rebel a little bit more
- 00:07:09three of them loved to go across the
- 00:07:11pennsylvania border to star city to
- 00:07:13smoke
- 00:07:14weed they had just discovered that and
- 00:07:16they had also gotten really into
- 00:07:17drinking
- 00:07:18they would often stay out past curfew
- 00:07:21she was getting in trouble
- 00:07:23sometimes and a lot of what they were
- 00:07:24concerned about was what was being
- 00:07:26posted on the
- 00:07:27internet like i said all three of the
- 00:07:29girls were very very active on twitter
- 00:07:31rachel skyler were big into twitter but
- 00:07:34honestly
- 00:07:35not as much as sheila she tweeted
- 00:07:37probably twice
- 00:07:39as much as both of them combined she
- 00:07:41literally chronicled her
- 00:07:42every thought and feeling here's just a
- 00:07:45few
- 00:07:45examples of her tweets i wish it were
- 00:07:47acceptable to be naked all the time it's
- 00:07:50okay if you hate me as long as i hated
- 00:07:52you first stepdad
- 00:07:53stop walking around the house without a
- 00:07:54shirt it's gross not to mention your
- 00:07:56boobs are bigger than mine there's a
- 00:07:58reason why sober
- 00:07:59and so bored sound almost exactly the
- 00:08:02same if you talk about how you're madly
- 00:08:03in love with justin bieber i probably
- 00:08:05want to
- 00:08:06stab you so all three girls were
- 00:08:08definitely
- 00:08:09rebelling and skyler's other friends
- 00:08:12outside of these two
- 00:08:13started to notice and did not like
- 00:08:16sheila for this reason they thought that
- 00:08:18she was
- 00:08:19a little too wild she seemed to always
- 00:08:21be pushing the limits
- 00:08:22too far skyler's other friends thought
- 00:08:24that sheila was a terrible influence on
- 00:08:27her
- 00:08:27so her parents are noticing that
- 00:08:29rachel's a bad influence her friends are
- 00:08:31noticing that sheila's a bad influence
- 00:08:33and scottie's friends said that they
- 00:08:34even felt like skylar was being
- 00:08:37changed by the two of them that her
- 00:08:39personality
- 00:08:40was kind of being altered and when her
- 00:08:42other friends tried to talk to her about
- 00:08:43it she
- 00:08:44just dismissed it she thought that they
- 00:08:46were totally out of line and
- 00:08:48that it wasn't true plus her and sheila
- 00:08:51had been
- 00:08:51friends since skyler was a kid you know
- 00:08:54she
- 00:08:54kind of looked up to her like a sister
- 00:08:56almost and rachel was really close with
- 00:08:58sheila too and
- 00:08:59really liked her gravitated towards her
- 00:09:01energy because rachel was definitely
- 00:09:03more of a rebel too she was also
- 00:09:04a popular girl she had a lot of other
- 00:09:07friends but she
- 00:09:08really liked sheila and rachel's other
- 00:09:10friends started to feel the exact same
- 00:09:12way
- 00:09:13that skyler's other friends did that
- 00:09:15sheila was a bad
- 00:09:16influence on rachel they tried to talk
- 00:09:18to her but
- 00:09:19rachel did not care she thought that
- 00:09:21sheila was such a cool person
- 00:09:23and nothing was gonna stop her from
- 00:09:24being friends with her and that year in
- 00:09:26school
- 00:09:26there were some rumors spreading around
- 00:09:28that rachel and sheila actually
- 00:09:30were starting to have a relationship
- 00:09:32that the two of them were hooking up
- 00:09:34a lot of people thought that's why
- 00:09:35rachel was so defensive
- 00:09:37of sheila she didn't want anyone to talk
- 00:09:39badly about her ever but no one knew if
- 00:09:41this was actually true because
- 00:09:42sheila and rachel also had boyfriends
- 00:09:45but the two of them
- 00:09:46did seem really really close and
- 00:09:48eventually like i said they just started
- 00:09:50to push skyler away
- 00:09:51they would make plans without her all
- 00:09:53the time they would
- 00:09:54dress like each other to make her
- 00:09:57jealous like purposely plan their
- 00:09:58outfits to make her feel left out
- 00:10:00and all during sophomore year skyler and
- 00:10:03sheila were fighting
- 00:10:04way more than usual and it seemed like
- 00:10:07rachel
- 00:10:07seemed to be what was really driving
- 00:10:09them apart and skyler of course
- 00:10:11vented her frustrations on twitter she
- 00:10:13said i tell the whole school
- 00:10:15all of the [ __ ] i have on everyone which
- 00:10:17is a lot too bad my friends are having
- 00:10:19lives without me
- 00:10:20you're a two-faced [ __ ] and obviously
- 00:10:22[ __ ] stupid if you thought i wouldn't
- 00:10:23find out just know
- 00:10:25i know hope you don't expect me to give
- 00:10:27a [ __ ] anymore
- 00:10:28bye sorry if you were enjoying looking
- 00:10:30at my cat i took a little break and
- 00:10:32she pieced out and you know you just
- 00:10:35don't tell cats what to do like i've
- 00:10:36said so bernie decided that he was going
- 00:10:38to take her place so
- 00:10:39say hi
- 00:10:45so jumping back to the morning of july
- 00:10:486th
- 00:10:48skyler snuck out at 12 30 a.m
- 00:10:51that morning mary and dave got ready for
- 00:10:54work like normal
- 00:10:55and they assumed that skyler was in her
- 00:10:57room she said that she was going to bed
- 00:10:59early the night before
- 00:11:00dave had planned to go do his shift at
- 00:11:02walmart
- 00:11:03come back and give skyler his car so
- 00:11:06that she could take it to her shift at
- 00:11:08wendy's
- 00:11:08so he got home midday as planned and he
- 00:11:12went to skyler's room but when he got to
- 00:11:14her door
- 00:11:14he realized that the door was locked
- 00:11:17which was unusual
- 00:11:18sometimes skyler locked her door for
- 00:11:20privacy but it wasn't something she did
- 00:11:22very often
- 00:11:22and not normally in the middle of the
- 00:11:24day but dave didn't think too much of it
- 00:11:26so he started knocking
- 00:11:27you know calling for her skyler are you
- 00:11:29in there and
- 00:11:30she didn't answer and when he didn't
- 00:11:33hear anything
- 00:11:34he instantly just got a wave of fear you
- 00:11:36know it's one thing if
- 00:11:37you can tell your kids ignoring you or
- 00:11:39locking you out you can kind of hear
- 00:11:40little sounds a breath
- 00:11:42something but he heard absolutely
- 00:11:44nothing so
- 00:11:45he went outside of the house to the
- 00:11:47window so that he could look
- 00:11:48in and when he got there he saw the
- 00:11:50small bench on the ground from when
- 00:11:52skyler had snuck out and he saw that the
- 00:11:55window was open
- 00:11:56so of course any dad is going to put
- 00:11:58this together right away
- 00:11:59skyler clearly snuck out but of course
- 00:12:01since it's now the daytime
- 00:12:03dave starts freaking out immediately
- 00:12:05because he figures something
- 00:12:07could have happened to her if she did
- 00:12:09sneak out and she's still not back by
- 00:12:11now
- 00:12:11especially because her shift at wendy's
- 00:12:13was coming up and she's a very
- 00:12:14responsible girl she's gonna show up for
- 00:12:16her shift so of course the first thing
- 00:12:18he thinks of to do
- 00:12:19is call her friends and see if they know
- 00:12:22where she is so he calls sheila
- 00:12:24and she said that she had talked to
- 00:12:26skyler around midnight the night before
- 00:12:28but
- 00:12:28she hadn't heard from her since she also
- 00:12:30said she had no idea
- 00:12:32where she was and didn't even have an
- 00:12:33idea of where she could be so dave
- 00:12:35contacted mary
- 00:12:36and mary of course was concerned but she
- 00:12:39also
- 00:12:40just told him to stay calm let's just
- 00:12:42see if we can get a hold of her
- 00:12:44figure this out she's probably going to
- 00:12:45show up for her shift at wendy's she's
- 00:12:47not just going to miss work said we're
- 00:12:48not going to worry
- 00:12:49i'll call them about ten after four give
- 00:12:52her time to clock in
- 00:12:53everything see if she's there but of
- 00:12:56course mary was still concerned and she
- 00:12:57came
- 00:12:58home and when she did get home they
- 00:13:00actually got a call
- 00:13:02from wendy's saying that skyler had not
- 00:13:05showed up for work
- 00:13:06and at this point they said the panic
- 00:13:08set in for both of them truly because
- 00:13:11they knew that she would not just miss
- 00:13:14work like this she was
- 00:13:16too responsible this is out of character
- 00:13:18for her
- 00:13:19and the fact that she had snuck out the
- 00:13:21night before was just
- 00:13:22so concerning so of course they contact
- 00:13:25the police
- 00:13:25right away they contacted the star city
- 00:13:28police to report skyler
- 00:13:29missing i have a daughter that's 16
- 00:13:32years old apparently she snuck out of
- 00:13:33her room last night and she hasn't been
- 00:13:35seen since you know her friends can get
- 00:13:37all over i can't find her
- 00:13:38what's her name skyler niece and the two
- 00:13:41of them
- 00:13:42start panicking they start contacting
- 00:13:44friends and relatives
- 00:13:45alerting them about what is going on
- 00:13:48right away trying to think of
- 00:13:50where skyler possibly could have gone
- 00:13:52and
- 00:13:53not too long into all of this panic
- 00:13:55sheila actually calls back
- 00:13:57and this time she admitted that she and
- 00:14:00rachel
- 00:14:00picked up skyler at 11 p.m
- 00:14:04which we know isn't true because we saw
- 00:14:06that surveillance footage that showed 12
- 00:14:0831am they said they hung out with her
- 00:14:10for like an hour
- 00:14:11and then they dropped her off a little
- 00:14:13ways down the street
- 00:14:14an hour later i said where did you go
- 00:14:16where's skyler
- 00:14:18and she said that skylar insisted they
- 00:14:21drop her off at the end of the street
- 00:14:23so we wouldn't hear her sneaking back in
- 00:14:25and then right after that sheila
- 00:14:27and her mom ended up coming to the
- 00:14:29niece's house to
- 00:14:30help look for skyler right away sheila
- 00:14:32tara and mary went on one side of the
- 00:14:34street knocking on doors while dave
- 00:14:36and the officer took the other side and
- 00:14:38they asked everyone in the neighborhood
- 00:14:40if they had seen anything if they had
- 00:14:42heard anything maybe in the middle
- 00:14:44of the night if they had any security
- 00:14:46cameras
- 00:14:47installed or inside that could have
- 00:14:49possibly picked something up
- 00:14:50and of course at this point dave and
- 00:14:52mary and the police have not seen the
- 00:14:54surveillance footage of skyler
- 00:14:56leaving at 12 31 which doesn't make
- 00:14:59sense with sheila's story
- 00:15:00but suddenly mary remembered that the
- 00:15:02apartment complex had
- 00:15:03just installed new cameras on the
- 00:15:05building and they had to have been
- 00:15:07working
- 00:15:08and of course in so many true crime
- 00:15:09cases we see
- 00:15:11cameras just not working like most of
- 00:15:14the time which makes me very concerned
- 00:15:16and scared as
- 00:15:17a human being on this planet but luckily
- 00:15:19these cameras were new they were just
- 00:15:21installed
- 00:15:22and they were working so they went to
- 00:15:23the landlord and
- 00:15:25he took them into their office right
- 00:15:26away and they started looking
- 00:15:28at the surveillance footage they watched
- 00:15:30that footage of skyler crossing the
- 00:15:32parking lot
- 00:15:33and getting into a vehicle and at this
- 00:15:35point they have no idea who this
- 00:15:37vehicle belongs to the footage is so
- 00:15:39grainy they can't make out who's in it
- 00:15:41and they thought the car actually was an
- 00:15:42suv so of course
- 00:15:44as soon as the police see this
- 00:15:46surveillance footage
- 00:15:47they think skyler is a runaway that
- 00:15:49she's unhappy with her home that she
- 00:15:51purposely left and she's probably just
- 00:15:53out there somewhere
- 00:15:54and her disappearance at this point did
- 00:15:57not
- 00:15:57qualify for an amber alert at this point
- 00:16:00in time
- 00:16:01all four of the following criteria has
- 00:16:03to be met before an amber alert could be
- 00:16:05issued
- 00:16:06a child had to have believed to be
- 00:16:08abducted
- 00:16:09the child is under 18 the child may be
- 00:16:12in danger of death or serious
- 00:16:13injury and there is sufficient
- 00:16:15information to indicate that the amber
- 00:16:17alert would be helpful plus when this
- 00:16:19was all going on
- 00:16:20there was still some [ __ ] around the
- 00:16:22hole wait for 48 hours
- 00:16:25to file a missing person's report which
- 00:16:28in most places that is not a thing
- 00:16:29anymore that's not true
- 00:16:31so dave and mary were trying their best
- 00:16:33to convince the police that you know
- 00:16:34skyler
- 00:16:35would not just run away and not come
- 00:16:37back like yes she was
- 00:16:39sneaking out but she loved her life she
- 00:16:41was so close with her parents she was
- 00:16:43a happy kid you know this was not
- 00:16:46in her character to just leave and to
- 00:16:49stay
- 00:16:50gone but of course the police refused to
- 00:16:53listen to them
- 00:16:54really first impression was it could be
- 00:16:57a runaway
- 00:16:59there are kids that run away all the
- 00:17:02time
- 00:17:02so mary and dave really felt like they
- 00:17:04had to take matters into their own hands
- 00:17:06so they printed out flyers with her
- 00:17:08picture her description
- 00:17:10and what she was last seen wearing and
- 00:17:11put them all up across the county
- 00:17:13wherever they could
- 00:17:14it's the most helpless feeling in the
- 00:17:16world it really is
- 00:17:18i mean everything that you cherish in
- 00:17:22the world is gone and you have no
- 00:17:24clue where to look for it and it's
- 00:17:27it's a helpless feeling it's a horrible
- 00:17:30helpless feeling
- 00:17:31and rachel and sheila were devastated
- 00:17:34about
- 00:17:35skyler being gone they were very very
- 00:17:37concerned
- 00:17:38sheila according to mary and dave seemed
- 00:17:40to be the most concerned they said that
- 00:17:42she would call them often
- 00:17:44just asking for updates on the
- 00:17:45investigation and
- 00:17:47over and over would say i wish
- 00:17:50i had some information i wish i knew
- 00:17:53something i wish i could help so she was
- 00:17:55very cooperative she asked to volunteer
- 00:17:58to search
- 00:17:59to pass out flyers she basically said
- 00:18:01whatever she could do
- 00:18:02she was willing to do just let her know
- 00:18:05so mary and dave felt like wow
- 00:18:07skyler has a very good friend in sheila
- 00:18:09she cares about her a lot
- 00:18:11skylar had good friends in general i
- 00:18:13mean they're feeling the love
- 00:18:14because so many people just were so
- 00:18:17devastated
- 00:18:18about skyler being missing couldn't
- 00:18:21believe
- 00:18:22that she would ever run away knew that
- 00:18:24she didn't run away knew that something
- 00:18:26had to be wrong
- 00:18:27one day just a few days after skyler had
- 00:18:29first gone missing
- 00:18:30sheila actually went up to skyler's room
- 00:18:33sat on her bed and was just sobbing mary
- 00:18:37walked in and they had you know a nice
- 00:18:38moment together they hugged
- 00:18:40and they were kind of trying to support
- 00:18:42each other through all this so luckily
- 00:18:44on june
- 00:18:459th 2012 things start to get taken a
- 00:18:47little more
- 00:18:48seriously by law enforcement the fact
- 00:18:50that skyler is still not there and after
- 00:18:52looking more into her background they
- 00:18:53realize that this is
- 00:18:54really out of character for her so
- 00:18:56luckily the west virginia state police
- 00:18:58and the fbi
- 00:18:59joined the search and fbi agent morgan
- 00:19:01spurlock and star city police officer
- 00:19:03jessica
- 00:19:04colbank interviewed sheila just days
- 00:19:05after skyler was first reported missing
- 00:19:08now what's really really interesting is
- 00:19:10as soon
- 00:19:11as the investigator did her first
- 00:19:14interview
- 00:19:15on sheila she instantly felt like
- 00:19:18something
- 00:19:18was wrong her first read of sheila was
- 00:19:21that
- 00:19:22she was a narcissist not only that she
- 00:19:24also described her as
- 00:19:26wrong on the other hand rachel had gone
- 00:19:29on a
- 00:19:29boating trip with her mother on july 6
- 00:19:32the day that skyler had gone missing
- 00:19:34her mother was on the trip and her mom's
- 00:19:36friend was on the trip
- 00:19:38and they both noticed a really gnarly
- 00:19:41cut
- 00:19:41on her ankle and thought it was kind of
- 00:19:44strange
- 00:19:45and on the following day on the 7th
- 00:19:47rachel actually
- 00:19:48had to go to church camp so they had to
- 00:19:51interview her
- 00:19:52via phone and when they talked to her
- 00:19:54they said that she was just
- 00:19:55very nonchalant she was kind of relaxed
- 00:19:59saying you know i don't really know
- 00:20:00where skyler is but she didn't seem as
- 00:20:02panicked as sheila did and she would
- 00:20:04also just say you know sheila
- 00:20:06knows more than me you know talk to
- 00:20:08sheila i don't really know much she just
- 00:20:10was kind of short about it but she did
- 00:20:12agree to come in for an in-person
- 00:20:14interview which is obviously
- 00:20:15crucial you know as soon as she was back
- 00:20:18from
- 00:20:18church camp but when rachel got home
- 00:20:20from church camp she didn't just come in
- 00:20:22right away
- 00:20:23which you'd think that this would be a
- 00:20:25high priority for you you know your
- 00:20:26friend
- 00:20:27is missing you'd probably be really
- 00:20:29concerned and wanting to help in any way
- 00:20:30you can
- 00:20:31but the investigators actually had to
- 00:20:33track her down for that interview like
- 00:20:35it was not easy
- 00:20:36and as soon as they brought her in she
- 00:20:38said pretty much the exact same thing as
- 00:20:41she said on the phone
- 00:20:42almost word for word at some points and
- 00:20:45it started to seem
- 00:20:47really scripted because sheila's story
- 00:20:50and rachel's story were like exactly the
- 00:20:52same so
- 00:20:53of course investigators looked into as
- 00:20:55much as they could
- 00:20:56social media computers even skyler's
- 00:20:59journal to see if there were any clues
- 00:21:01and the last entry that skyler had made
- 00:21:04in her journal was actually from a year
- 00:21:07before she went missing and in it she
- 00:21:09talked
- 00:21:10a lot about sheila she would talk about
- 00:21:12how sheila could get away with
- 00:21:14anything and that sheila got all the
- 00:21:16attention
- 00:21:17from the boys and skylar also seemed to
- 00:21:19be
- 00:21:20very fascinated with sheila she wrote in
- 00:21:23detail
- 00:21:24about sheila's sex life she seemed kind
- 00:21:27of intrigued by it and almost
- 00:21:29living vicariously through her and again
- 00:21:32this is
- 00:21:32sheila's sex life that she's writing
- 00:21:34about in her journal and she's writing a
- 00:21:36lot about it very detailed and it even
- 00:21:38included information
- 00:21:39about sheila hooking up with women as
- 00:21:42well in one entry in the diary even
- 00:21:44talked about a time where the girls were
- 00:21:47having a sleepover at rachel's house
- 00:21:49and they had broken into her mom's
- 00:21:52liquor cabinet
- 00:21:53pretty common thing to do right and
- 00:21:55skyler wrote in her journal all about
- 00:21:56this and also about
- 00:21:58how once they started drinking that
- 00:22:00sheila and rachel
- 00:22:01started hooking up and in this entry
- 00:22:03skyler talks about how
- 00:22:05she was locked in the bathroom with the
- 00:22:08girls while they were
- 00:22:09making out and stuff and she said that
- 00:22:12she had nothing against
- 00:22:13them being bisexual she was very
- 00:22:15supportive of the lgbtq community
- 00:22:17but she just felt uncomfortable being in
- 00:22:20the room with them
- 00:22:21while they were hooking up which is very
- 00:22:23understandable i feel like
- 00:22:24it's just weird to be in a room with
- 00:22:26anyone hooking up when you're just
- 00:22:27chilling there and then two weeks later
- 00:22:29skyler made that tweet that i read
- 00:22:31earlier that said
- 00:22:32i'd tell the whole school all the [ __ ] i
- 00:22:35have on everyone which is a lot
- 00:22:37hashtag if i could get away with it so
- 00:22:39investigators continued to
- 00:22:40search skyler's social media especially
- 00:22:42her twitter for
- 00:22:44more clues and they saw that after her
- 00:22:45wendy's shift on july 5th
- 00:22:47she actually tweeted twice one said you
- 00:22:50doing [ __ ] like this is why i will
- 00:22:52never completely trust you and another
- 00:22:54that said
- 00:22:55all i do is hope so skyler went missing
- 00:22:58the summer between her sophomore and
- 00:23:01junior year
- 00:23:02and of course in a situation like this
- 00:23:03where no one knows what truly happened
- 00:23:06and you're in a high school setting
- 00:23:08rumors are going to spread
- 00:23:10like crazy and they did people started
- 00:23:12speculating you know that she ran away
- 00:23:15maybe she ran away even with a boyfriend
- 00:23:17maybe she was abducted by an
- 00:23:19online predator or brought into human
- 00:23:21trafficking
- 00:23:22one of the rumors was that she robbed a
- 00:23:24bank and so she was on the run
- 00:23:26and honestly the bank one has some merit
- 00:23:28to it because there was a bank in
- 00:23:30blacksville that was robbed about a week
- 00:23:32before skyler disappeared and again
- 00:23:34about 10 days later the younger brother
- 00:23:36of one of the suspects had dated sheila
- 00:23:38so they thought there was some type of
- 00:23:39connection and he was also a person of
- 00:23:41interest in skyler's case
- 00:23:43but dave and mary knew that skylar
- 00:23:45definitely didn't run away
- 00:23:47to them they felt like there were only
- 00:23:50two possibilities either
- 00:23:52she was gone and mary had a feeling
- 00:23:55pretty early on that skyler was no
- 00:23:57longer with them
- 00:23:58dave definitely held out hope for a lot
- 00:24:00longer but if that wasn't the case they
- 00:24:02said the only other possibility that
- 00:24:04they considered was
- 00:24:05her being abducted and being held by
- 00:24:08someone
- 00:24:08so they knew that she wouldn't just run
- 00:24:10away that she wouldn't be
- 00:24:12off living some new life that was just
- 00:24:15not even in
- 00:24:16the realm of possibility for them not
- 00:24:18only that skyler left behind a ton of
- 00:24:20important items that if you were really
- 00:24:22running away you probably would have
- 00:24:24taken
- 00:24:24she had left her toothbrush her hair
- 00:24:27straightener her contact lenses
- 00:24:29her cell phone charger she even left her
- 00:24:31security blanket which was her mother's
- 00:24:33old nightgown that she called
- 00:24:35goody and that thing meant absolutely
- 00:24:37everything to her so there's no way she
- 00:24:39would have left without it and out of
- 00:24:40all skylar's friends which she had many
- 00:24:42friends and people were really
- 00:24:44upset over skyler being gone many kids
- 00:24:47in the high school
- 00:24:48were experiencing depression anxiety
- 00:24:51fear
- 00:24:51over what was going on wondering where
- 00:24:53she was
- 00:24:55starting school without her like that
- 00:24:57was probably one of the hardest days
- 00:24:59through the whole thing
- 00:25:00like skylar was a go-to person and she
- 00:25:02was just gone but it seemed that sheila
- 00:25:05was one of the people if not the person
- 00:25:07having the hardest
- 00:25:09time with it she posted on facebook
- 00:25:11skyler come back i seriously cannot deal
- 00:25:13with school without you i miss you too
- 00:25:14much
- 00:25:15skylar's dad dave actually responded to
- 00:25:17her and said she will be home soon honey
- 00:25:20love you and sheila said love you too
- 00:25:23and after a while
- 00:25:24it started to seem kind of weird and
- 00:25:28not only that rumors at the school were
- 00:25:30kicking up
- 00:25:31that rachel and sheila had something to
- 00:25:35do with skyler's disappearance
- 00:25:37a rumor also spread that skylar had
- 00:25:40overdosed and that maybe rachel
- 00:25:43and sheila had hidden her body because
- 00:25:46they were afraid maybe they thought it
- 00:25:48was their fault
- 00:25:48something like that that was all
- 00:25:51starting to brew and it wasn't just in
- 00:25:52the school that these rumors were
- 00:25:53spreading they were also
- 00:25:54spreading online this case got a lot of
- 00:25:57attention online there's a lot
- 00:26:00of people that are interested in this
- 00:26:02case understandably because it's wild
- 00:26:04but even back then when she was just
- 00:26:06missing people were speculating you know
- 00:26:08maybe she was abducted maybe she was
- 00:26:10brought into human trafficking
- 00:26:12something like that but like i said
- 00:26:13police were definitely starting to have
- 00:26:16their suspicions about sheila and rachel
- 00:26:18on september 3rd warrants were issued to
- 00:26:20seize all of the electronic devices and
- 00:26:22communications
- 00:26:23of sheila and rachel the police started
- 00:26:25feeling really confident that they were
- 00:26:27on the right track that sheila and
- 00:26:30rachel
- 00:26:30knew something maybe there really was
- 00:26:32some type of accident they didn't want
- 00:26:34to get in trouble or they were covering
- 00:26:36for skylar in some way they just got the
- 00:26:38sense that they knew something
- 00:26:40and they kind of clued in dave and mary
- 00:26:42into this a little bit
- 00:26:44but they advised them you know don't
- 00:26:45tell rachel and sheila obviously don't
- 00:26:48compromise the case
- 00:26:49this isn't a for sure thing this is just
- 00:26:51kind of what we're thinking we're
- 00:26:52feeling it out
- 00:26:53then on october 2nd 2012 sheila posted a
- 00:26:56picture of her and skyler on the team
- 00:26:58skyler facebook page that was created
- 00:27:00and she said
- 00:27:01skyler sorry i haven't posted in a while
- 00:27:04school has been taking up all my time
- 00:27:06me and rachel miss you so much
- 00:27:08especially at lunch we sit at the lunch
- 00:27:10table alone
- 00:27:11come back so we don't look like loners
- 00:27:13anymore lol school is so hard without
- 00:27:16you
- 00:27:16actually everything is hard without you
- 00:27:18i seriously think about you
- 00:27:2024 7 and i miss talking to you on the
- 00:27:22phone day and night i know you wouldn't
- 00:27:24like some of the things that are being
- 00:27:25said lately which i'm pretty sure
- 00:27:27she's mostly referring to the things
- 00:27:29that are being said about her and rachel
- 00:27:31at this point
- 00:27:32sheila and rachel were definitely
- 00:27:34starting to feel the heat
- 00:27:35and the amount of people that thought
- 00:27:37that they had done something
- 00:27:39was starting to increase over time
- 00:27:42eventually things on twitter got
- 00:27:43pretty tense two anonymous twitter
- 00:27:46accounts were created and they
- 00:27:47both started following rachel and sheila
- 00:27:50and they started kind of harassing them
- 00:27:53and posting these really cryptic
- 00:27:54messages to them
- 00:27:55the first one said luke 12 2 nothing is
- 00:27:58covered up that will not be revealed
- 00:28:01or hidden that will not be known being
- 00:28:03pretty little liars down together
- 00:28:05hashtag promise to never leave you cold
- 00:28:08what you gonna do
- 00:28:09what you gonna do when they come for you
- 00:28:12and sheila actually responded and said
- 00:28:14no one on this earth can handle me and
- 00:28:17rachel
- 00:28:17if you think you can you're wrong so i'm
- 00:28:19not sure
- 00:28:20why it took so long for them to realize
- 00:28:23this
- 00:28:24but when they started reviewing the
- 00:28:26security footage again police
- 00:28:28realized that sheila had never picked up
- 00:28:30skylar at 11 pm
- 00:28:32so they tried to pull security footage
- 00:28:34from other places that sheila said that
- 00:28:36they had went over that hour
- 00:28:38when they had picked her up and once
- 00:28:39they saw footage from a convenience
- 00:28:42store where they were at they realized
- 00:28:44that the car that had picked skylar up
- 00:28:47at 12 30 was actually sheila's toyota
- 00:28:50camry
- 00:28:51so of course now they know that sheila
- 00:28:53and rachel were lying
- 00:28:55they couldn't figure out why so they
- 00:28:58actually created
- 00:28:59a persona online and posed as
- 00:29:03someone just attending the high school
- 00:29:05so that they could
- 00:29:06kind of keep tabs on what the girls were
- 00:29:08posting
- 00:29:09and he read through thousands of posts
- 00:29:12on facebook and twitter
- 00:29:14constantly having to search the internet
- 00:29:15to decode you know the hashtags they
- 00:29:17were using the
- 00:29:19shorthand that they were using and he
- 00:29:21said that it didn't take long for him to
- 00:29:22become
- 00:29:23incredibly suspicious of sheila she was
- 00:29:26tweeting all this stuff about getting
- 00:29:27drunk about skipping school
- 00:29:29about partying she had tons of tweets
- 00:29:32about that but then she randomly would
- 00:29:33have one in there like
- 00:29:35i miss you skylar please come back home
- 00:29:37however they kept bringing
- 00:29:38sheila and rachel in kept asking them
- 00:29:41questions
- 00:29:42you know trying to get a real read on
- 00:29:45them but their story
- 00:29:46never changed they were very much in
- 00:29:49sync
- 00:29:50about what they said was happening that
- 00:29:53night and they noticed that the two
- 00:29:54girls were very different
- 00:29:55like rachel seemed very nervous
- 00:29:59very reserved you know while she was
- 00:30:01being interviewed but
- 00:30:02sheila was very cheerful very upbeat
- 00:30:05very
- 00:30:05confident and according to the
- 00:30:07investigators it seemed like
- 00:30:08she was kind of flirting with some of
- 00:30:11them at one point
- 00:30:12sheila seemed to want to stay as close
- 00:30:13to the investigation as possible she was
- 00:30:15always asking for them to
- 00:30:17keep her updated for any new information
- 00:30:20constantly saying how she wishes she
- 00:30:22knew more information
- 00:30:24however rachel took the opposite
- 00:30:26approach she really just stayed away
- 00:30:27from the whole thing
- 00:30:28and seemed nervous about it she also
- 00:30:30kept her distance from mary and dave
- 00:30:33which was very different from the
- 00:30:35approach that sheila was taking
- 00:30:37she was constantly talking to mary and
- 00:30:40dave
- 00:30:40constantly using them as support
- 00:30:43you know they were supporting her she
- 00:30:45was supporting them we worried more
- 00:30:47about
- 00:30:48how her friends
- 00:30:52mostly mostly her friend how they were
- 00:30:54going to get along
- 00:30:56they were just so devastated and you
- 00:30:59know we're trying to figure out how can
- 00:31:00we help them through that
- 00:31:02and like they said she always was like
- 00:31:04part of the family because she had been
- 00:31:06scottish friend
- 00:31:06for years so by winter of 2012
- 00:31:10police were starting to get a little
- 00:31:12closer to the truth using other security
- 00:31:14camera footage from various locations
- 00:31:16they were able to piece together the
- 00:31:18fact that the girls had driven to
- 00:31:20blacksville the night that skyler
- 00:31:22disappeared which rachel and sheila had
- 00:31:24both originally denied but their phone
- 00:31:26records showed that the girls were
- 00:31:28texting skylar when they claimed
- 00:31:30that she was with them which makes no
- 00:31:32sense
- 00:31:33and at this point police are also kind
- 00:31:34of throwing around the idea that maybe
- 00:31:37the night that sky went missing that the
- 00:31:39girls were
- 00:31:40doing some type of drug maybe skyler
- 00:31:42really did overdose
- 00:31:43and rachel and sheila just left her
- 00:31:46somewhere and this started to make a lot
- 00:31:48of sense because
- 00:31:49every time that they would interview
- 00:31:51rachel
- 00:31:52she seemed really really nervous like
- 00:31:54she didn't want to get in trouble and
- 00:31:56like i said they were really sticking to
- 00:31:58their same stories you know the two of
- 00:32:00them were very much
- 00:32:02on the same page about what happened
- 00:32:03that night until one interview where
- 00:32:05rachel
- 00:32:06told them something completely different
- 00:32:08she claimed that skyler had
- 00:32:10run off into the woods that night she
- 00:32:12said that she and sheila
- 00:32:14tried to run after her tried to find her
- 00:32:16but she was gone
- 00:32:17so obviously this is a huge change from
- 00:32:20her original story so
- 00:32:22they immediately call sheila in and see
- 00:32:24if she
- 00:32:25has the same story and of course now she
- 00:32:28does
- 00:32:28so it's very obvious that the two of
- 00:32:30them are communicating and
- 00:32:32planning out what they're going to tell
- 00:32:33the police so by mid-december they
- 00:32:35decided they need to give
- 00:32:36both of these girls a polygraph test and
- 00:32:38see if they can kind of get something
- 00:32:40out of that
- 00:32:40now sheila was a hard fail on the
- 00:32:43polygraph test
- 00:32:44definitely was being deceitful so then
- 00:32:47of course it was time for rachel to take
- 00:32:49her test and on the way her father is
- 00:32:52bringing her there
- 00:32:53and they're going to her lawyers because
- 00:32:55she's gonna meet up with him before the
- 00:32:57polygraph
- 00:32:57and on the way there she jumps out of
- 00:33:00the car
- 00:33:01and runs to sheila's house to get help
- 00:33:04from
- 00:33:05tara sheila's mom now apparently
- 00:33:07sheila's mom had been
- 00:33:09really trying to slow down the
- 00:33:10investigation she got in a fight
- 00:33:13with one of the investigators jessica
- 00:33:15the one i had mentioned jessica was
- 00:33:17actually taken
- 00:33:17off of the case because she called tara
- 00:33:20a tool
- 00:33:21so it's all really starting to make a
- 00:33:24picture here they're really starting to
- 00:33:26put the pieces together of what may have
- 00:33:28happened and they're
- 00:33:29definitely thinking at this point
- 00:33:31something happened the girls don't want
- 00:33:33to admit it there was
- 00:33:34a overdose she drank too much you know
- 00:33:37something happened and it was an
- 00:33:39accident and the girls are covering up
- 00:33:41for it
- 00:33:41on december 16 2012 mary wrote a very
- 00:33:44long facebook message about skyler's
- 00:33:46disappearance
- 00:33:47and in the post she talked about how
- 00:33:49rachel and sheila had lied and she also
- 00:33:51implied in the message that skyler
- 00:33:53was most likely dead it was clear how
- 00:33:56they were starting to feel
- 00:33:57they definitely had turned on rachel and
- 00:34:00sheila at this point and felt like
- 00:34:02they had to be involved and once this
- 00:34:04happened imagine
- 00:34:06how many rumors and stuff is going to
- 00:34:08get stirred up from
- 00:34:09a mother making a huge post like this
- 00:34:11people were
- 00:34:12really starting to turn on rachel and
- 00:34:14sheila so this was having
- 00:34:16a major mental toll on rachel not so
- 00:34:18much sheila she just didn't seem to care
- 00:34:20much
- 00:34:21but rachel was really struggling
- 00:34:24mentally
- 00:34:25from all of this pressure and scrutiny
- 00:34:27rachel's parents were
- 00:34:29really worried about their daughter's
- 00:34:30mental health they wanted her to
- 00:34:32distance as much as she could
- 00:34:34from sheila they felt like she was this
- 00:34:35terrible influence on her
- 00:34:37and that she was making her more
- 00:34:38stressed out giving her
- 00:34:40really bad anxiety and they also didn't
- 00:34:42like tara
- 00:34:44sheila's mom they just felt like she was
- 00:34:46bad news as well
- 00:34:47and this is really interesting but
- 00:34:48rachel's parents even though they were
- 00:34:50divorced
- 00:34:51they ended up moving back in together
- 00:34:53for rachel's sake because
- 00:34:55rachel's father lived too close to
- 00:34:57sheila
- 00:34:58that's how concerned that they were they
- 00:34:59were willing to move back in together
- 00:35:01even though they were divorced
- 00:35:03so that just tells you how seriously
- 00:35:06they are starting to see their daughter
- 00:35:07decline she is stressing out she
- 00:35:10is carrying major anxiety and i think
- 00:35:13in their minds they're probably starting
- 00:35:15to figure out that
- 00:35:16something went wrong with skyler that
- 00:35:20she must know more
- 00:35:21she was acting out getting into more
- 00:35:25family altercations at home but what was
- 00:35:26really strange is when her parents
- 00:35:28made that decision to move back in
- 00:35:29together they didn't tell rachel they
- 00:35:31were going to do it which is pretty
- 00:35:33shocking when your parents have been
- 00:35:34divorced for a while for your dad to
- 00:35:36suddenly move back in the house i mean
- 00:35:38that's just
- 00:35:39stressful on its own rachel just came
- 00:35:41home one day
- 00:35:42and found out that her dad was living
- 00:35:44there now so
- 00:35:45that really really upset her she was so
- 00:35:47upset actually that as soon as she
- 00:35:49realized that he was living in the house
- 00:35:51she started running around the
- 00:35:52neighborhood screaming and crying her
- 00:35:54parents
- 00:35:55chased her around the neighborhood they
- 00:35:57finally got her inside
- 00:35:59and they got her into her room and
- 00:36:01locked her in there
- 00:36:02her mom called the police and you can
- 00:36:04actually hear rachel in the background
- 00:36:06of the call like
- 00:36:07screaming her dad had to like restrain
- 00:36:09her because she was freaking out and she
- 00:36:11started threatening
- 00:36:12to kill herself i have an issue with a
- 00:36:1416 year old daughter of mine
- 00:36:16and i can't control her anymore she's
- 00:36:18shooting nuts she's screaming she's
- 00:36:20running through the neighborhood give me
- 00:36:21the phone
- 00:36:22she's like okay this is over
- 00:36:27my husband's joined a container
- 00:36:30rachel ended up being taken to chestnut
- 00:36:32ridge which is a psychiatric facility in
- 00:36:34morgantown west virginia
- 00:36:35and sheila actually did try to go see
- 00:36:37rachel several times she wanted to talk
- 00:36:39to her
- 00:36:40but the staff had been ordered to not
- 00:36:43let she lay in so
- 00:36:44she was never able to talk with her
- 00:36:45during this time and who knows what they
- 00:36:47wanted to talk about rachel was released
- 00:36:49five days later and as soon as she was
- 00:36:51released her parents
- 00:36:53took her right to their lawyer's office
- 00:36:56and there she finally met up with the
- 00:36:57officers and
- 00:36:58took her polygraph test and after seeing
- 00:37:01rachel's demeanor after all this
- 00:37:03how burnt out she was the police felt
- 00:37:05like they were gonna get the truth from
- 00:37:07her they felt like guilt had just broken
- 00:37:09her down
- 00:37:09they were gonna find out that you know
- 00:37:12skyler had overdosed
- 00:37:13and they hit it there was something like
- 00:37:15that going on
- 00:37:16so they start interviewing her thinking
- 00:37:19this is going to last a while and going
- 00:37:20to be difficult to
- 00:37:22get the full story out of her but only a
- 00:37:24few
- 00:37:25questions in rachel shocked them all by
- 00:37:28saying
- 00:37:29we stabbed her that's right rachel and
- 00:37:32sheila
- 00:37:33stabbed skyler niece to death
- 00:37:36she just glanced at us and said we
- 00:37:39stabbed her
- 00:37:40and as you can imagine the
- 00:37:41investigator's jaws just dropped this
- 00:37:44was not even
- 00:37:45something they were considering they
- 00:37:46were thinking this was a
- 00:37:48cover-up for an accident and now they're
- 00:37:50dealing with murder
- 00:37:52and then she just starts to spill
- 00:37:54everything she told them how skyler and
- 00:37:56sheila
- 00:37:56usually spent their spring break
- 00:37:58together and that their sophomore year
- 00:37:59they spent a week in myrtle beach but
- 00:38:01according to rachel on this trip the
- 00:38:03girls had
- 00:38:04fought the entire time and when she got
- 00:38:06back
- 00:38:07sheila complained to rachel about how
- 00:38:09bad skyler was how much she didn't like
- 00:38:11her anymore
- 00:38:12and how she had to go and what's really
- 00:38:15interesting
- 00:38:16is at one point there were some teachers
- 00:38:20and classmates that overheard rachel and
- 00:38:23sheila
- 00:38:23talking about how to get rid of a dead
- 00:38:26body however
- 00:38:27a few weeks before this a dead body was
- 00:38:30found
- 00:38:31near their school and so the teachers
- 00:38:33assumed that they were talking
- 00:38:35about that but of course other kids in
- 00:38:37the school who had heard that
- 00:38:39thought that they were talking about
- 00:38:41killing skylar
- 00:38:42and it turns out that some of those kids
- 00:38:45even told
- 00:38:46skylar what they heard but she dismissed
- 00:38:49it
- 00:38:49she thought you know rachel and sheila
- 00:38:52would never do anything to harm me
- 00:38:54and she kept hanging out with them all
- 00:38:56that final spring semester leading up to
- 00:38:58summer but obviously as summer came
- 00:39:00skyler was starting to catch on to
- 00:39:04you know the attitude rachel
- 00:39:07and sheila had towards her like i said
- 00:39:10on june 4th and 5th she made a few
- 00:39:12tweets
- 00:39:12some that i've already read about her
- 00:39:14falling out with sheila and rachel
- 00:39:15such as sick of being at [ __ ] home
- 00:39:18thanks friends love hanging out with you
- 00:39:19too
- 00:39:20you doing [ __ ] like this is why i can
- 00:39:21never completely trust you
- 00:39:23it really doesn't take much to piss me
- 00:39:25off and sheila on the fourth and the
- 00:39:27fifth did not tweet at all which was
- 00:39:29pretty unusual for her like i said she
- 00:39:30was the most active on her twitter when
- 00:39:32they looked back at messages they saw
- 00:39:34that on july 5th
- 00:39:36rachel and sheila had texted skyler
- 00:39:38asking her to sneak out with them that
- 00:39:40night
- 00:39:40and at first skyler wasn't so sure it
- 00:39:43actually took her a little while to
- 00:39:44agree to join them
- 00:39:45so it turns out that sheila was the one
- 00:39:47driving the toyota camry that picked
- 00:39:49her up that night and that rachel was
- 00:39:52sitting in the passenger seat
- 00:39:54skyler got picked up around 12 30 she
- 00:39:56gets in the back of the car
- 00:39:58and of course the girls didn't realize
- 00:40:00that there was surveillance video so
- 00:40:02they didn't think that out too well but
- 00:40:04they drove downward toward
- 00:40:05blacksville and magnolia county right on
- 00:40:07the pennsylvania border which is 25
- 00:40:09minutes away from star city their plan
- 00:40:11was originally to take route 19
- 00:40:14to route 7 to get to blacksville but
- 00:40:16sheila ended up changing their course
- 00:40:17when she saw a state police car
- 00:40:19parked at an intersection but eventually
- 00:40:21they did get into blacksville they
- 00:40:22crossed into pennsylvania
- 00:40:24and then sheila drove them down this
- 00:40:26dark winding road
- 00:40:28kind of to the middle of nowhere and i
- 00:40:30guess this is a spot that the girls
- 00:40:32would drive a lot
- 00:40:33it was just kind of secluded and they
- 00:40:35would come here smoke weed with skylar
- 00:40:37so this
- 00:40:38wasn't unusual to skyler at all
- 00:40:39according to rachel they
- 00:40:41talked for a few minutes in the car and
- 00:40:44then they got out
- 00:40:45and when they got to their normal
- 00:40:46smoking spot
- 00:40:48skyler realized that she had left the
- 00:40:50lighter in the car
- 00:40:51so she turned around toward the car to
- 00:40:54get it and started walking that way when
- 00:40:56suddenly sheila and rachel counted out
- 00:40:59one two three and on three
- 00:41:03both girls pulled out kitchen knives
- 00:41:06that they had taken from their parents
- 00:41:08house
- 00:41:08and started stabbing skylar skylar
- 00:41:11started screaming of course
- 00:41:13completely shocked but realizing what
- 00:41:16was going on
- 00:41:17immediately and she had been stabbed in
- 00:41:20the knee so she tried to run but she
- 00:41:22couldn't
- 00:41:22according to rachel she fell backwards
- 00:41:25and stopped stabbing her and that
- 00:41:27sheila just kept going and this is
- 00:41:30absolutely sick one of the most
- 00:41:33disturbing things i've ever heard
- 00:41:35but they let her slowly bleed
- 00:41:38out in front of them they literally
- 00:41:40stood back the two of them
- 00:41:42and watched her slowly die and according
- 00:41:44to rachel
- 00:41:46all skylar could say before she died was
- 00:41:49why which is what all of us would like
- 00:41:52to know
- 00:41:52they waited until skylar had died
- 00:41:55and it became completely silent it turns
- 00:41:58out rachel and sheila had stabbed skylar
- 00:42:01over 50 times and rachel talked about
- 00:42:05how much they had premeditated this
- 00:42:08they had packed up all the gear that
- 00:42:10they would need in their car
- 00:42:11including paper towels rags bleach
- 00:42:14clean clothes even a shovel and they had
- 00:42:17all of this in the trunk of their car
- 00:42:19so their next move was to get that
- 00:42:21shovel
- 00:42:22and try to dig a hole so that they could
- 00:42:24bury her out there
- 00:42:25but as they started to dig they realized
- 00:42:27the ground was too hard and rocky
- 00:42:28and they could not make a hole so
- 00:42:30instead they
- 00:42:32dragged her body over near this tree and
- 00:42:34just covered her
- 00:42:35with dirt and debris and branches and
- 00:42:38just random things that they found
- 00:42:40and this is kind of a strange move but
- 00:42:41after that they just turned off skyler's
- 00:42:44cell phone
- 00:42:45and left it next to her body after this
- 00:42:47they
- 00:42:48washed themselves off at the creek and
- 00:42:50then they walked back to their car where
- 00:42:52they had a fresh change of clothes
- 00:42:54got in the car like everything was
- 00:42:56normal and went home on their way home
- 00:42:58they dumped off
- 00:42:59all the rags all the evidence that they
- 00:43:01had and they got back to their houses
- 00:43:03around 6am
- 00:43:04you guys are not gonna even believe this
- 00:43:07but
- 00:43:08that morning sheila hops on her twitter
- 00:43:11and says this always keep your cool
- 00:43:14so of course after rachel just tells
- 00:43:16them all this
- 00:43:17the officers are completely shocked like
- 00:43:20i said from the beginning
- 00:43:21they knew that there was probably a
- 00:43:23chance that the girls were involved that
- 00:43:24they knew something they were covering
- 00:43:26up something that
- 00:43:27something along those lines was going on
- 00:43:29but they did not consider
- 00:43:31that they had plotted a murder and
- 00:43:34killed her in such a violent way so of
- 00:43:36course they
- 00:43:37asked her why that's a question we all
- 00:43:40want to know skylar even was asking
- 00:43:42why why why why did you guys do this
- 00:43:45and this is unbelievable but they
- 00:43:48literally said that they did it because
- 00:43:51they didn't
- 00:43:52like her she would not give us any
- 00:43:55specific details
- 00:43:57other than they just didn't like her and
- 00:43:59then when i asked her
- 00:44:00what do you mean you didn't like her
- 00:44:01clarify that she said oh nothing we just
- 00:44:03didn't like her
- 00:44:03they said they didn't want to be friends
- 00:44:05with her anymore and this was the only
- 00:44:06way to get rid of her
- 00:44:08rachel claimed that it was as simple as
- 00:44:10that so of course police they don't even
- 00:44:12know where to start right like they
- 00:44:13don't even have a body
- 00:44:14so the first thing they're asking is do
- 00:44:17you guys remember where you put her body
- 00:44:18can you
- 00:44:19lead us to it and rachel agreed so they
- 00:44:22went out there to where she thought they
- 00:44:24had dumped the body but
- 00:44:25the area had been completely covered by
- 00:44:27snow
- 00:44:28and rachel couldn't remember exactly
- 00:44:31where they put the body so
- 00:44:33they had to wait until all of it melted
- 00:44:35so on january 4th 2013
- 00:44:37the police got a warrant to seize every
- 00:44:40knife inside of sheila's house but not
- 00:44:42only that
- 00:44:43they looked in her car and they found
- 00:44:45blood in her trunk
- 00:44:46and while this was all going on sheila
- 00:44:48didn't know that rachel had confessed
- 00:44:51but she was already starting to figure
- 00:44:52it out just by the way they were acting
- 00:44:54and the evidence that they were pulling
- 00:44:56she was a pretty smart
- 00:44:58girl you could say and she caught on
- 00:45:00pretty quick
- 00:45:01that their ship was sinking but they
- 00:45:02wanted to get more out of sheila
- 00:45:05while she was still in the stage of
- 00:45:08lying to the police so they had rachel
- 00:45:10wear
- 00:45:11a recording device a listening device
- 00:45:14and go and hang out with sheila and see
- 00:45:16what she could get out of her
- 00:45:17however rachel got very nervous they
- 00:45:19ended up not talking about skyler
- 00:45:22at all they took a selfie together
- 00:45:24though so that's great
- 00:45:25now at this point mary and dave know
- 00:45:28that the police
- 00:45:29are you know on to the girls but they
- 00:45:32don't know the latest development
- 00:45:34from rachel yet they're still hopeful
- 00:45:36that maybe there's a chance that
- 00:45:37skyler's out there
- 00:45:38her whole family it's just so
- 00:45:40brokenhearted they're putting up flyers
- 00:45:43everywhere they can
- 00:45:44begging people for leaves just hoping
- 00:45:46that maybe skyler would come home
- 00:45:48but just after the snow melted in the
- 00:45:50area police
- 00:45:51were able to search that wooded area
- 00:45:53that rachel had told them about
- 00:45:55of course they did testing to make sure
- 00:45:58that this was really schuyler but this
- 00:46:00was indeed skyler's body she was just
- 00:46:03left
- 00:46:03out there on the ground by her friends
- 00:46:07when we first got word
- 00:46:10we weren't allowed to even let on that
- 00:46:12we knew
- 00:46:15so yeah it was it was kind of uh
- 00:46:18we even talked about it yeah and it was
- 00:46:21kind of a we knew
- 00:46:22but do we believe it yeah
- 00:46:25it was it was a yo-yo so through the
- 00:46:29rest of the winter and spring
- 00:46:30the police made rachel and sheila get
- 00:46:32homeschooled so they
- 00:46:34never saw each other on february 10 2013
- 00:46:37skyler's birthday rachel made a happy
- 00:46:40birthday
- 00:46:41twitter post to skyler and then after
- 00:46:43that she tweeted i
- 00:46:44hate the [ __ ] i think about at night on
- 00:46:47march 13th
- 00:46:48they announced the public in a press
- 00:46:50release that the body had been found in
- 00:46:52pennsylvania
- 00:46:53and the public was just devastated
- 00:46:55because
- 00:46:56people were really really invested in
- 00:46:58this case people were just
- 00:47:00really hoping that she would be found
- 00:47:02that there would be a better outcome
- 00:47:04especially kids at the school like kids
- 00:47:06at the high school finding out were
- 00:47:08so upset they had to you know bring in
- 00:47:10counselors and make sure
- 00:47:11everyone was doing okay because it's
- 00:47:13hard when one of your
- 00:47:15fellow classmates dies especially in
- 00:47:17such a brutal way
- 00:47:18and when other classmates are suspected
- 00:47:21of being involved
- 00:47:22it definitely makes it all more chaotic
- 00:47:24so now
- 00:47:25it was official skyler wasn't missing
- 00:47:28she
- 00:47:28was murdered however remember this time
- 00:47:31the girls are still technically
- 00:47:32under investigation even though this
- 00:47:34confession has been brought forward they
- 00:47:35have to confirm
- 00:47:36everything so even though a lot of
- 00:47:37people in the community were already
- 00:47:39suspicious
- 00:47:40that rachel and skyler had something to
- 00:47:42do with her death
- 00:47:44sheila was still trying to publicly
- 00:47:46maintain her innocence
- 00:47:48on her birthday she also made a message
- 00:47:50to skylar and said rest
- 00:47:52easy skyler you'll always be my best
- 00:47:53friend i miss you more than you could
- 00:47:55ever know
- 00:47:56she also tweeted worst day of my whole
- 00:47:58life and rachel was still doing this
- 00:48:00too even though she knows that she just
- 00:48:03confessed to the police that she stabbed
- 00:48:05skylar she still had the nerve to write
- 00:48:07rest in peace baby
- 00:48:09i love and missy more than anything may
- 00:48:11you finally have
- 00:48:12justice what then on april 1 2013
- 00:48:16a month before she was arrested sheila
- 00:48:18seemed to confess to her crime
- 00:48:20through twitter at 1 37 in the morning
- 00:48:22on april first she tweeted
- 00:48:24we really did go on three are you
- 00:48:27[ __ ] kidding me the fact that they're
- 00:48:29so proud of this like it's something
- 00:48:31cool we really did go on three as if
- 00:48:33it's like a
- 00:48:34inside joke or something i just can't
- 00:48:37even understand
- 00:48:38the mind state of sheila especially both
- 00:48:41of them for making these posts
- 00:48:43to be tweeting about your friend that
- 00:48:45you killed in this loving way
- 00:48:46saying you miss her but also straight up
- 00:48:49confessing
- 00:48:50and writing these like subtweets about
- 00:48:52her death
- 00:48:54is so [ __ ] wild to me the next
- 00:48:56afternoon she tweeted again
- 00:48:57saying they say you remember the past
- 00:48:59better than it really was
- 00:49:01so after they did this bit of an
- 00:49:02undercover investigation with rachel
- 00:49:05you know she obviously has to turn
- 00:49:07herself and eventually she agreed early
- 00:49:09on
- 00:49:09that she would so she turned herself in
- 00:49:12on may 1st 2013
- 00:49:14and pled guilty to second-degree murder
- 00:49:16and she was transferred from juvenile to
- 00:49:18adult status
- 00:49:19and officially pleaded to murder in the
- 00:49:21second degree by unlawfully
- 00:49:23feloniously willfully maliciously and
- 00:49:26intentionally causing the death of
- 00:49:28skyler niece by stabbing her and causing
- 00:49:30fatal injuries
- 00:49:32and the state of west virginia
- 00:49:33recommended a sentence of 20
- 00:49:35years for her meanwhile they got the
- 00:49:37results back from sheila's car that the
- 00:49:39blood in there
- 00:49:40did belong to skyler niece so that
- 00:49:42officially sinks her ship
- 00:49:44and on the day that sheila got arrested
- 00:49:47she was actually just chilling at the
- 00:49:48cracker barrel with her mom tara
- 00:49:50the police showed up at the restaurant
- 00:49:52waited for them to come out and as soon
- 00:49:53as they did
- 00:49:54they approached tara and sheila in the
- 00:49:57parking lot and she acted
- 00:49:59completely shocked very upset and
- 00:50:02they arrested her for first degree
- 00:50:05murder
- 00:50:05and she actually said to her mom mom is
- 00:50:08it gonna be okay
- 00:50:09and tara said i don't know now sheila
- 00:50:12definitely did not realize the weight of
- 00:50:15what was really going to happen to her
- 00:50:17so yeah she was charged with murder and
- 00:50:19they decided that they're going to try
- 00:50:20her as an adult now the media
- 00:50:22had been covering the story all along
- 00:50:24the public was very interested
- 00:50:26dave and mary were doing as much press
- 00:50:28as they could but once the arrest
- 00:50:30happened
- 00:50:31the coverage just boomed it was non-stop
- 00:50:34it was covered on like hln it was even
- 00:50:36covered on cnn by anderson cooper so
- 00:50:39when it makes it to
- 00:50:40that level you know lots of eyes are on
- 00:50:42this case it's such a disturbing story
- 00:50:44what is next for these two teenage
- 00:50:45suspects anderson sixteen-year-old
- 00:50:47rachel show
- 00:50:48had been charged with first-degree
- 00:50:50murder but after leading authorities to
- 00:50:52skyler's body in the woods she cut a
- 00:50:54plea deal
- 00:50:55she pled guilty earlier this month to
- 00:50:57second-degree murder but she still could
- 00:50:59get 40 years in prison anderson
- 00:51:02now the other girl the other suspect who
- 00:51:03hasn't been named she is still charged
- 00:51:06as a juvenile with first-degree murder
- 00:51:08although a judge could charge her as an
- 00:51:10adult were waiting on that decision
- 00:51:12there is no word that a plea deal is in
- 00:51:14the works for her now sheila had already
- 00:51:16been tried as an adult so her name
- 00:51:18was released to the public but sheila
- 00:51:19was being held as a juvenile at this
- 00:51:21point so hers
- 00:51:22wasn't but of course people in the
- 00:51:24school knew that once
- 00:51:25rachel was arrested that sheila was
- 00:51:27probably involved too people put
- 00:51:29the pieces together extremely quick
- 00:51:30sheila was indicted by a grand jury in
- 00:51:33west virginia with one
- 00:51:34count of kidnapping one count of
- 00:51:36first-degree murder and one count of
- 00:51:37conspiracy to commit murder and as soon
- 00:51:40as she was charged as an adult
- 00:51:42her name was released to the public and
- 00:51:44people went
- 00:51:45wild online sheila is a very hated
- 00:51:49person online and i must say sheila has
- 00:51:53a real evil [ __ ] vibe to her
- 00:51:56she's like mean girls to the next level
- 00:51:59after going
- 00:52:00up to skyler's parents during the whole
- 00:52:03search
- 00:52:04pretending she was there for them
- 00:52:06tweeting about how much she
- 00:52:08missed skyler all of that was so clearly
- 00:52:11fake
- 00:52:12because she would only show emotion when
- 00:52:14she was in court
- 00:52:15about going to jail never about skyler
- 00:52:19never about her family it was always
- 00:52:21when
- 00:52:22jail was brought up and her future was
- 00:52:24brought up sheila was even
- 00:52:26smiling at some points in court and she
- 00:52:29seemed very
- 00:52:30worried about her appearance very into
- 00:52:32her hair
- 00:52:33and of course she pleaded not guilty to
- 00:52:36all of the charges
- 00:52:37the trial started on october 22nd 2013.
- 00:52:40and rachel's defense attorney actually
- 00:52:42asked for her testimony to be suppressed
- 00:52:44because she had a lot of mental health
- 00:52:46issues going on
- 00:52:47they also asked the judge for the trial
- 00:52:48to be postponed and
- 00:52:50they did agree to that so it was
- 00:52:52rescheduled for january 28
- 00:52:532014 and at this point i think after
- 00:52:56thinking about it a little more
- 00:52:57realizing that there was no hope for her
- 00:53:00to get off
- 00:53:01for this she ended up deciding to take a
- 00:53:03plea deal
- 00:53:04instead and in return for this the state
- 00:53:06of pennsylvania agreed to not press
- 00:53:08additional charges on top of what she
- 00:53:10already had
- 00:53:11so on january 24th 2014 sheila did plead
- 00:53:15guilty to first-degree murder
- 00:53:16but even her lawyer who you know
- 00:53:19normally defense attorneys
- 00:53:20will at least publicly say they believe
- 00:53:23their clients but
- 00:53:24he was just like straight up i looked at
- 00:53:26everything and i couldn't find
- 00:53:28any reasonable explanation for her
- 00:53:30actions
- 00:53:31there was really nothing to defend this
- 00:53:33was clearly
- 00:53:34pre-meditated the two girls had talked
- 00:53:37about this
- 00:53:38they thought about it for a while for
- 00:53:40months they had all
- 00:53:42the supplies ready to go so there was
- 00:53:44nothing to be said
- 00:53:46this is a clear premeditated
- 00:53:49first degree murder period so finally 18
- 00:53:52months after she murdered skyler niece
- 00:53:55in cold blood sheila was sentenced to
- 00:53:58life in prison
- 00:53:59but with mercy which means that she will
- 00:54:01be up for parole
- 00:54:03in 15 years and sheila never expressed
- 00:54:06any remorse never said sorry to the
- 00:54:08family in fact
- 00:54:10she seemed more distracted in court with
- 00:54:12how she looked
- 00:54:13she was wearing makeup her hair was done
- 00:54:15a certain way
- 00:54:16which rachel on the other hand in her
- 00:54:18trial and sentencing looked very
- 00:54:20disheveled very depressed
- 00:54:22i mean clearly the gravity of everything
- 00:54:24had hit her the next month rachel was
- 00:54:26sentenced as well
- 00:54:27and got 30 years in prison because it
- 00:54:30was mostly
- 00:54:31sheila that did it sheila that initiated
- 00:54:34it once they looked more into everything
- 00:54:35it was
- 00:54:36really sheila leading the charge but
- 00:54:39that was very controversial as well a
- 00:54:41lot of people think she should have
- 00:54:42gotten more time and she would also be
- 00:54:43eligible for parole after
- 00:54:45serving only 10 years now rachel on the
- 00:54:48other hand
- 00:54:48did apologize to the family in court i
- 00:54:51will play that
- 00:54:52right now i am so sorry
- 00:54:56i don't know if there's a proper way to
- 00:54:57make this apology
- 00:54:59because there are not even words to
- 00:55:00describe the guilt and remorse
- 00:55:02that i feel each day for what i've done
- 00:55:04the person that did that was not the
- 00:55:06real me
- 00:55:07not the person i am not what i'm made of
- 00:55:09not what i believe in
- 00:55:12i don't think i ever thought this would
- 00:55:13actually happen i became scared and
- 00:55:15caught up in something that i did not
- 00:55:17want to do
- 00:55:18i never realized the gravity of my
- 00:55:19actions and how many people i've hurt
- 00:55:23it hurt the niece family and those who
- 00:55:25love skyler i hurt my parents and shamed
- 00:55:28my family
- 00:55:29i hurt my extended family and all of my
- 00:55:31friends who loved me
- 00:55:32i hurt my teachers and those who
- 00:55:34believed in me i hurt my church family
- 00:55:36my community and those who trusted me
- 00:55:39and i hurt my lord and savior jesus
- 00:55:40christ may god bring eternal peace to
- 00:55:43schuyler and the entire niece family
- 00:55:45again i'm so sorry and i pray each day
- 00:55:47for everyone involved and i pray each
- 00:55:49day for forgiveness
- 00:55:50and her family also released a public
- 00:55:52apology
- 00:55:53through their lawyer but dave and mary
- 00:55:56just do not accept it
- 00:55:57especially from rachel the racial chef
- 00:56:00also murdered my daughter in cold blood
- 00:56:03scotland would not be where she was if
- 00:56:05it wasn't for rachel soph
- 00:56:06you said yourself your honor this is
- 00:56:08first degree murder
- 00:56:10she should not give you any leniency and
- 00:56:13she can take her apologies and
- 00:56:14everything else
- 00:56:15sit on them because that's about what
- 00:56:16they're worth to me and my
- 00:56:18wife she has done nothing but make our
- 00:56:21lives a living hell since day one
- 00:56:24she did cooperate in the end because she
- 00:56:26knew that it was closing in on her yes
- 00:56:28she would be caught
- 00:56:29that's the only reason she feels remorse
- 00:56:31i completely
- 00:56:32sympathize with them i can see how it
- 00:56:35would be
- 00:56:36near impossible to forgive someone that
- 00:56:38took your only child from you
- 00:56:40like that in such a brutal way the fact
- 00:56:42that they have to live with
- 00:56:44the thoughts about her bleeding out
- 00:56:46alone
- 00:56:47in the [ __ ] forest is just
- 00:56:50devastating
- 00:56:51we did a story a few days later trying
- 00:56:53to help out and
- 00:56:54see if anybody knew where skyler was
- 00:56:58i'll direct this both of you but dave
- 00:57:00ended that story pleading
- 00:57:01just come home baby when you think back
- 00:57:04and those being kind of the
- 00:57:05first words at least the community got
- 00:57:06to hear about your missing
- 00:57:08daughter what you guys wanted what do
- 00:57:10you think about
- 00:57:14a lot of tears i wish that's what it was
- 00:57:17she had just run away and did come back
- 00:57:28doing fine guys i don't know if i would
- 00:57:30ever be able to forgive
- 00:57:31these girls either and it seems like
- 00:57:33mary i mean dave
- 00:57:34is just extremely angry he he is
- 00:57:38so hurt to another level and mary is too
- 00:57:41but mary seems to have a little bit more
- 00:57:43of an
- 00:57:44understanding and like a bit more
- 00:57:46sympathy towards the girls she believes
- 00:57:48that they have mental illness
- 00:57:50and that's why they did this um but she
- 00:57:52still
- 00:57:53you know she says their apology means
- 00:57:55nothing she can't forgive them and
- 00:57:57i get that i mean i know they're
- 00:58:00mentally ill you have to be to do
- 00:58:02something like that
- 00:58:04but even even at that there's there's
- 00:58:08still got to be some reason you know
- 00:58:11even mentally ill people if they don't
- 00:58:13like someone they
- 00:58:14kind of stay away from them they were
- 00:58:16jealous i
- 00:58:18i think that's a lot of it i think how
- 00:58:20two-faced
- 00:58:22you can be and how sick and ahead you
- 00:58:24can be to walk up to grieving parents
- 00:58:27who are crying their eyes out and hug
- 00:58:30them and tell them it'll be okay
- 00:58:31and in my mind my opinion again
- 00:58:35that shows the depth of her their mental
- 00:58:38illness you know they were trying
- 00:58:41so hard to cover it up and they did a
- 00:58:45good job they really did so to this day
- 00:58:48the two of them are both incarcerated in
- 00:58:50the lake in correctional center in mason
- 00:58:52county west virginia
- 00:58:53now of course the idea of them getting
- 00:58:55out on parole
- 00:58:57is really upsetting and very upsetting
- 00:58:59to dave and mary and dave
- 00:59:01vows that he will not let that happen
- 00:59:03he's going to make sure
- 00:59:04that they stay in jail and there is one
- 00:59:07positive outcome you could say from this
- 00:59:09whole situation and that is schuyler's
- 00:59:10law
- 00:59:11and this law actually changed west
- 00:59:12virginia's criteria for
- 00:59:14putting out an amber alert and basically
- 00:59:16now an immediate
- 00:59:18amber alert will be put out to the
- 00:59:19public even if the child is not
- 00:59:22suspected of being kidnapped dave and
- 00:59:25mary niece
- 00:59:26are still you know their life how can
- 00:59:28their life ever
- 00:59:29be happy again they're missing a huge
- 00:59:33part of them and that's what makes this
- 00:59:34so much harder is that
- 00:59:36you know skyler was their only child so
- 00:59:38now it's just the two of them and
- 00:59:40luckily they're still together they have
- 00:59:42each other and they seem to have a
- 00:59:43really good supportive relationship
- 00:59:45which is wonderful to see
- 00:59:46but this has broken their hearts in a
- 00:59:48way that can never be repaired they made
- 00:59:51the area where skyler's body was found
- 00:59:52into a really nice memorial area with a
- 00:59:55bench
- 00:59:56with some stone they put flowers there
- 00:59:58they decorated through the holidays and
- 01:00:00it's just a nice place for them to come
- 01:00:01and reflect and for some of skyler's
- 01:00:04friends who
- 01:00:05kind of saw this very dangerous
- 01:00:07relationship happening to come and
- 01:00:09sit and just be with her you know in
- 01:00:12spirit
- 01:00:13and i think that's really cool that they
- 01:00:14have turned a place where something so
- 01:00:16horrific happened into somewhere really
- 01:00:19beautiful that they can
- 01:00:21heal now normally i ask what you guys
- 01:00:23think at the end of the video what your
- 01:00:24opinions are in the case but i know you
- 01:00:26guys are all going to feel the same way
- 01:00:27as me
- 01:00:28that skyler deserved so much better
- 01:00:32and then i'm just happy that justice
- 01:00:35was served that you know rachel finally
- 01:00:37hit that point of guilt where she came
- 01:00:39forward and told the truth because who
- 01:00:41knows
- 01:00:42if we would even know what happened to
- 01:00:43this day if they kept it a secret
- 01:00:45maybe there wouldn't have been enough
- 01:00:46evidence i mean i don't know but i think
- 01:00:48both of those girls
- 01:00:49need to absolutely stay behind bars
- 01:00:52so yeah just a really really crazy case
- 01:00:55i feel
- 01:00:56tired after talking about this honestly
- 01:00:58for two teenage girls to be
- 01:01:00so evil so calculated is
- 01:01:03honestly just terrifying but let me know
- 01:01:06what you guys think of course in the
- 01:01:08comments below i want to hear your
- 01:01:09thoughts on this case
- 01:01:10if you enjoyed this case be sure to give
- 01:01:12it a thumbs up and i will make sure to
- 01:01:13do
- 01:01:14some more cases that are similar some
- 01:01:15more solved cases but that's it for me
- 01:01:18today guys
- 01:01:18i hope you guys are all staying safe out
- 01:01:21there in this crazy world
- 01:01:22and i will see you in my next video
