- 00:00:00these 11 income streams have made me
- 00:00:01over $200,000 so far in 2024 now I know
- 00:00:05you've seen the passive income for
- 00:00:06beginner types of videos this is not one
- 00:00:08of them I'm going to show you exactly
- 00:00:10how long it actually took me to build
- 00:00:11these 10 plus income streams starting
- 00:00:13from when I had zero work experience
- 00:00:15zero audience zero digital product of
- 00:00:17any kind by the end of this video you'll
- 00:00:19know why building multiple income
- 00:00:21streams too early can actually hurt your
- 00:00:23income potential and what to do instead
- 00:00:25I'll also share what I plan for 2025
- 00:00:27like what's staying what's going and
- 00:00:29what's going to be complet completely
- 00:00:30new income streams for me in 2025 so
- 00:00:32let's kick straight into the first big
- 00:00:34lesson that I have learned over the past
- 00:00:36few years that I want to share with you
- 00:00:37and that is this awesome quote from the
- 00:00:39book The one thing and it is success is
- 00:00:41sequential not simultaneous and that is
- 00:00:43the biggest lesson I have to share about
- 00:00:45starting multiple income streams is none
- 00:00:46of these happened all at once this is
- 00:00:48the reality the timeline of how long it
- 00:00:51actually took to build multiple income
- 00:00:52streams so you can see that back in 2016
- 00:00:54I started with freelancing just because
- 00:00:56I really had no work experience I didn't
- 00:00:58have any connections I didn't have an
- 00:01:00audience I didn't even know where to
- 00:01:01begin so I was like let me just see what
- 00:01:03people will pay me for and then a few
- 00:01:05years later with all the skills I was
- 00:01:07learning as a freelancer working behind
- 00:01:08the scenes of dozens and dozens of types
- 00:01:10of businesses seeing exactly what they
- 00:01:12sold digital products physical products
- 00:01:14Services I worked with agencies I saw
- 00:01:16exactly what they did and I was like I
- 00:01:18actually think potentially I could start
- 00:01:19a side business with my partner so my
- 00:01:21partner and I started a side business
- 00:01:24together so that started generating a
- 00:01:25bit of income and I started being like
- 00:01:27Oh okay I can kind of see how this could
- 00:01:29work for me potentially so then a year
- 00:01:31later I made my own first digital
- 00:01:34product and that was just my own thing
- 00:01:36and that essentially kicked off the rest
- 00:01:37of my business so that same year along
- 00:01:39with my digital product I started a paid
- 00:01:41membership Community a year after that I
- 00:01:43started making YouTube videos and then I
- 00:01:45started making templates I started doing
- 00:01:47masterminds and coaching and Consulting
- 00:01:49for other types of businesses I also
- 00:01:51started making workshops then kits and
- 00:01:53bundles and then the year after that so
- 00:01:55this year I joined affiliate programs I
- 00:01:57started getting monetized on Tik Tok so
- 00:01:59you can see that it took years of skill
- 00:02:01development learning and work before I
- 00:02:04started creating all of these other
- 00:02:06types of products or services and I
- 00:02:08think that's extremely important to
- 00:02:09highlight because I feel like a lot of
- 00:02:11times we put this pressure on ourselves
- 00:02:12to like start 10 different income
- 00:02:13streams next year and that's just so
- 00:02:15unrealistic because it takes a long time
- 00:02:17to get good at something it's also like
- 00:02:19that quote where it's like you won't see
- 00:02:21the whole path before you begin it but
- 00:02:23you'll see the next step every time you
- 00:02:24take a step that's what this was like
- 00:02:26every time I took a step I was like oh
- 00:02:28that could be the next step then I took
- 00:02:29that and I was like oh that could be the
- 00:02:30next step so don't worry if you're
- 00:02:32standing here and you're like I can't
- 00:02:33see the 20 steps I can't see how I could
- 00:02:35possibly get to multiple income streams
- 00:02:37that's normal that was me back in 2016
- 00:02:39and the other lesson I really want to
- 00:02:40pull out of here and this is a concept
- 00:02:42from Cal newport's book he says you have
- 00:02:44to build your career Capital so career
- 00:02:46Capital he defines it as skills you have
- 00:02:48that are both rare and valuable and that
- 00:02:50can be used as leverage in defining your
- 00:02:52career you are your biggest asset if you
- 00:02:54are a freelancer if you're self-employed
- 00:02:56in any way your skill set is how you
- 00:02:58generate value is how how you solve
- 00:03:00problems for clients and customers and
- 00:03:02the type of value you can generate and
- 00:03:03the type of problems you can solve for
- 00:03:04customers is what determines how much
- 00:03:06they will pay you so you can see the
- 00:03:08start of my journey I was freelancing
- 00:03:09full-time I was freelancing as a
- 00:03:10business manager I was behind the scenes
- 00:03:12of 40 plus different types of businesses
- 00:03:14I saw exactly what worked what didn't
- 00:03:15what were the biggest mistakes that
- 00:03:17clients were making what caused failures
- 00:03:19that is what allowed me to then go and
- 00:03:20build my own things and I honestly don't
- 00:03:22think I could have been able to do it
- 00:03:23backwards like no way could I have
- 00:03:25started building my digital product from
- 00:03:27day one and had to be successful no way
- 00:03:29there's no way I highly recommend
- 00:03:31freelancing for the type of business you
- 00:03:33want to start first get paid to learn if
- 00:03:36you want to start an Etsy Shop go and
- 00:03:38freelance for an Etsy shop owner be
- 00:03:40their assistant learn see what they're
- 00:03:42doing to drive traffic so what types of
- 00:03:43products sell see what types of products
- 00:03:45don't sell see what kind of systems they
- 00:03:46have so here's some expectations versus
- 00:03:48reality of building multiple income
- 00:03:50streams the first is it's super easy and
- 00:03:51quick to make something that will make
- 00:03:53hella money it's not true it takes
- 00:03:54months or years of hard work to create
- 00:03:56something of value that is actually
- 00:03:57differentiated in the market and I hate
- 00:03:59to be the one to say this and kind of
- 00:04:01mini burst the bubble but digital
- 00:04:03products are getting very saturated
- 00:04:05another one build this once and then
- 00:04:06make money while you sleep it's just not
- 00:04:07true 95% of my digital products require
- 00:04:10constant maintenance and traffic
- 00:04:12investment whether that is organic
- 00:04:13traffic so free making free content like
- 00:04:16this and paying my team to help me make
- 00:04:17free content or paid content so putting
- 00:04:19money into advertising to drive traffic
- 00:04:21to your product another one just sign up
- 00:04:23to tons of affiliate programs and make a
- 00:04:24pile of money there are so many
- 00:04:26prerequisites either you already have to
- 00:04:27have an audience or you have the skill
- 00:04:29to build an audience or you have to have
- 00:04:31the money to invest in getting an
- 00:04:32audience so let me go through my
- 00:04:34business related income streams first
- 00:04:36and then I'll go through my Creator
- 00:04:37related income streams now my big
- 00:04:39disclaimer this is revenue not profit
- 00:04:42that's very important I have to say that
- 00:04:44I have to pay my team tools software
- 00:04:45trainings mentors pay for advertising
- 00:04:48etc etc this is not how much money I de
- 00:04:52make personally if you want to know more
- 00:04:53about the costs of running my business I
- 00:04:55made a video on that last year you can
- 00:04:56go watch that if you want a more
- 00:04:58complete picture of what's going on in a
- 00:05:00business financially if you want so one
- 00:05:02of my biggest revenue streams actually
- 00:05:04came from something I resisted making
- 00:05:06for a very long time and that is an
- 00:05:08online course now I know that online
- 00:05:11courses have a bit of reputation online
- 00:05:13and I understand why I have also bought
- 00:05:15some really bad online courses before
- 00:05:17and I believe that in the online course
- 00:05:19industry we need more quality control
- 00:05:21and transparency and all that so if you
- 00:05:23bought a bad course and you couldn't get
- 00:05:24your money back I'm truly sorry for that
- 00:05:26but my course is not like that my course
- 00:05:28is amazing so I also actually made a
- 00:05:31little slide your honor please slide
- 00:05:34about why I'm a good course creator and
- 00:05:36there are a lot of us out there there's
- 00:05:38like a big scale of like scammy gross
- 00:05:41course creators who are just trying to
- 00:05:43rip you of your money horrible people
- 00:05:45and good course creators who are trying
- 00:05:46their best who just want to teach what
- 00:05:48they know if you want to read this slide
- 00:05:49you can pause and read it and then you
- 00:05:51can judge for yourself guilty or not
- 00:05:53guilty okay so on to my online course so
- 00:05:56dbm boot camp teaches project team and
- 00:05:58operations manager so basically all the
- 00:06:00skills I learned managing businesses for
- 00:06:02my clients so we teach things like
- 00:06:04project planning hiring onboarding team
- 00:06:06members training team members keeping
- 00:06:08remote teams happy creating systems Sops
- 00:06:10workflows so this course brought in
- 00:06:13roughly 170k so far so that's up to
- 00:06:16December 1st because I'm filming this
- 00:06:17early in December so I couldn't get you
- 00:06:19the full December data obviously but
- 00:06:21yeah you can see here I put a little
- 00:06:22screenshot if you total up all of the
- 00:06:24different tiers also interestingly I
- 00:06:26have three different tiers for my
- 00:06:28product so three different level of
- 00:06:30support that people can opt for and tier
- 00:06:31three is always by far the most popular
- 00:06:34which is interesting because it's the
- 00:06:35most expensive and originally I had put
- 00:06:37in three tiers because I was like oh
- 00:06:38it's that pricing psychology thing that
- 00:06:40they teach you where if you have a tier
- 00:06:41three it makes people more likely to go
- 00:06:43for tier two but that has not been the
- 00:06:44case in my situation interesting so yeah
- 00:06:48effort required I would say it's like a
- 00:06:50four out of a five so Pros when it comes
- 00:06:52to online courses is I love knowledge
- 00:06:55sharing if it isn't evident I love
- 00:06:57teaching I love educational content I
- 00:06:59have gotten the most amazing
- 00:07:00testimonials from students about them
- 00:07:02making more money about them being able
- 00:07:03to quit their 9 to5 about them being
- 00:07:05able to support their families and my
- 00:07:07big vision is to help women make more
- 00:07:09money as specifically put more women
- 00:07:11into positions of power big shout out to
- 00:07:13dbm BU Camp the sponsor of this video
- 00:07:15shout out to you thank you so much they
- 00:07:17are the reason I can do this I can sit
- 00:07:19down take the time pay my wonderful team
- 00:07:21to help me with these videos obviously
- 00:07:23also online courses are very scalable
- 00:07:25because before I made an online course I
- 00:07:26was having one-on-one conversations
- 00:07:28every time somebody was like hey can you
- 00:07:29tell tell me more about like what you do
- 00:07:31and how you started and what you learned
- 00:07:32I was like sure let's hop on a call and
- 00:07:34I would just tell them everything and
- 00:07:35then the next person would ask me and I
- 00:07:36would have to hop on a call and tell
- 00:07:37them again that was just not scalable
- 00:07:39it's not a scalable way to share
- 00:07:40education or knowledge and also online
- 00:07:43courses great profit margins because
- 00:07:44there aren't really that many costs or
- 00:07:46expenses associated with each sale all
- 00:07:48the costs we have are uh we send some
- 00:07:50gifts to students when they join if they
- 00:07:53opt to have feedback from a Capstone
- 00:07:54coach then I have to pay the Capstone
- 00:07:56coach obviously so the con first of all
- 00:07:58it's not really a con it's just like
- 00:07:59like my lesson is idea validation is
- 00:08:02non-negotiable do not make an online
- 00:08:04course if you have not made sure that
- 00:08:05people actually are interested in the
- 00:08:07topic you're making an online course for
- 00:08:08because like I said I think the market
- 00:08:10is getting quite flooded so for example
- 00:08:12an online course like how to start a
- 00:08:13business is just not competitive enough
- 00:08:15it should ideally be a little bit more
- 00:08:17specific a little bit more Niche
- 00:08:19differentiated in some kind of way so
- 00:08:21how I validated my course was I heard
- 00:08:22demand from both sides I heard it from
- 00:08:24Junior Freelancers like virtual
- 00:08:25assistants who were messaging me and
- 00:08:26they were like hey I heard you're a
- 00:08:27business manager you're a fractional coo
- 00:08:29how did you learn those skills I also
- 00:08:31heard feedback and demand from business
- 00:08:33owners who were like day I want to hire
- 00:08:35you and I was like I'm fully booked and
- 00:08:37they were like okay well can you
- 00:08:38recommend someone who does exactly what
- 00:08:39you do and I was like I don't think so I
- 00:08:41don't really know anyone who does
- 00:08:42exactly what I do and that's when I was
- 00:08:44like okay there's demand from the
- 00:08:46business owner side and from the people
- 00:08:48that want to upskill like there's a way
- 00:08:50there's a way to bridge the gabin yeah
- 00:08:51con's very hard work in the beginning I
- 00:08:53spent 6 months yeah working super hard
- 00:08:55on the side of my freelancing full-time
- 00:08:57every evening hours and hours and hours
- 00:08:58reques a a bit of initial startup
- 00:09:00investment I don't want to say I think
- 00:09:01it was less than $1,000 I don't super
- 00:09:03remember it could have been1 to $2,000
- 00:09:06but yeah it takes initial startup
- 00:09:07investment to build for me at least to
- 00:09:09build the website for Branding for help
- 00:09:12with getting the content all set up Tech
- 00:09:14set up that kind of stuff probably take
- 00:09:15a little while to be profitable like
- 00:09:17most things you sell because it you need
- 00:09:19time to figure out what the funnel
- 00:09:21should look like what people respond to
- 00:09:22the marketing messaging and the most
- 00:09:24honest thing I can tell you is this is
- 00:09:26not beginner friendly I spent years like
- 00:09:29I said working behind the scenes and a
- 00:09:30lot of my clients were course creators
- 00:09:32so that is what gave me the experience
- 00:09:34necessary to actually go and build a
- 00:09:35successful course business awesome so
- 00:09:37that is the first one that is the first
- 00:09:39Big Kahuna now the Le another lesson I
- 00:09:42want to share here is people love to say
- 00:09:43build it and they will come especially
- 00:09:45about digital products they'll be like
- 00:09:46oh just build the online course and they
- 00:09:48make it seem like the creation of that
- 00:09:49digital product is the big work but
- 00:09:51that's is just not true they will not
- 00:09:53come unless you have a traffic strategy
- 00:09:55I know a lot of people who are making
- 00:09:56digital products because these gurus are
- 00:09:58telling them it's super easy to make mad
- 00:10:00money then they make it and then they
- 00:10:02struggle and they think something is
- 00:10:03wrong with them there's nothing wrong
- 00:10:04with you it's just a lot harder than
- 00:10:06they tell you it is all right on to the
- 00:10:08next thing that I have which is a
- 00:10:10membership I have a paid slack Community
- 00:10:12for students and that made about
- 00:10:14$144,000 this year I will say effort
- 00:10:16four out of five as well so Pros is you
- 00:10:18can foster a super cool Community I love
- 00:10:20hanging out there I love my students I
- 00:10:21think they're all super cool and
- 00:10:22interesting it's also pretty semi
- 00:10:25passive it doesn't require a lot of like
- 00:10:27active delivery it's more like checking
- 00:10:29in in every day and it's pretty flexible
- 00:10:31to your schedule um and recurring income
- 00:10:33but I have a lot to say about
- 00:10:34memberships when it comes to cons
- 00:10:36because I have also worked behind the
- 00:10:38scenes of a lot of big memberships the
- 00:10:40reality of the situation is it requires
- 00:10:42and I know you know this but maintenance
- 00:10:43and continuous value ad to the audience
- 00:10:46they're thinking to themselves every
- 00:10:47time they see that money leave their
- 00:10:48bank account was what I got this month
- 00:10:51worth it which means there needs to
- 00:10:52always be some sort of value ad whether
- 00:10:54that is information or support or oneone
- 00:10:58access to you which is very different
- 00:10:59from one off digital products because
- 00:11:01that the value ad is like it's there
- 00:11:03it's finished but a membership you know
- 00:11:05it's like like this this is the best way
- 00:11:07I can show you guys do not start a
- 00:11:09membership especially if you are a
- 00:11:10beginner I don't recommend it for
- 00:11:12beginners I think it is a huge
- 00:11:13commitment to make to sign yourself up
- 00:11:15to deliver something recurringly forever
- 00:11:17I highly recommend instead doing a
- 00:11:19smaller version so doing a workshop
- 00:11:21maybe once see how you feel about that
- 00:11:23all right next up is workshops so
- 00:11:24workshops made me about $44,000 this
- 00:11:26year workshops I consider them
- 00:11:28essentially just like 1 hourish video
- 00:11:30trainings so effort required I would say
- 00:11:32this is also a four out of five so Pros
- 00:11:34here obviously scalable way to share
- 00:11:36Knowledge and Skills it's very easy to
- 00:11:38deliver low maintenance work because
- 00:11:40once you make it you don't really have
- 00:11:41to maintain it unless something about
- 00:11:43the topic that you're teaching changes
- 00:11:45and it can be a very specific promise so
- 00:11:47I feel like sometimes with online
- 00:11:48courses because they're much bigger the
- 00:11:50promise gets a little bit vager but with
- 00:11:52a workshop I feel like you can teach
- 00:11:54something hyp specific so for example
- 00:11:55one Workshop that I created with a
- 00:11:57student this year was how to to launch
- 00:11:59and manage masterminds for your clients
- 00:12:01cons it requires a traffic strategy this
- 00:12:03shouldn't come as a surprise I feel like
- 00:12:05this is what I want tattooed on my
- 00:12:06forehead after this video traffic
- 00:12:08strategy don't forget about traffic
- 00:12:09strategy it requires text setup you also
- 00:12:12need proper product validation that's
- 00:12:13another thing I want tattooed I might be
- 00:12:15running out of space you need validation
- 00:12:17and you need traffic strategy that's
- 00:12:19what I wish I could you know any kind of
- 00:12:21big company you see adust Nike whatever
- 00:12:24Sephora they do not make products they
- 00:12:26do not invest money into creating
- 00:12:28products un unless they're sure that the
- 00:12:30market is interested and the market will
- 00:12:31buy it that's you you have to do that on
- 00:12:33a smaller scale and these are more work
- 00:12:35than I anticipate and estimate every
- 00:12:38single time so just keep in mind all
- 00:12:40right next thing is tools and templates
- 00:12:42so those are things like for example the
- 00:12:44notion Business book club database that
- 00:12:46I made this year so I have a whole video
- 00:12:48about how I made that one I consider
- 00:12:50anything a tool if there are ways for
- 00:12:53the audience to interact with it and
- 00:12:55kind of filter it or make it their own
- 00:12:58kind of and templates I consider more
- 00:12:59things like email templates graphic
- 00:13:01design templates things that are like
- 00:13:03copy and paste ready to go this made
- 00:13:04about $5,000 this year so eff it
- 00:13:07required I would say is a three out of
- 00:13:08five probably so what I love about tools
- 00:13:10and templates when you compare them to
- 00:13:12things like information products like
- 00:13:13courses and workshops is I like that it
- 00:13:15is immediately actionable and it saves
- 00:13:17the customers time immediately like they
- 00:13:19don't have to go and consume a bunch of
- 00:13:21content and learn something it's also I
- 00:13:23think one of the most passive is things
- 00:13:26after the initial setup and work and
- 00:13:28it's easy to deliver and not much
- 00:13:29maintenance work unless you have to make
- 00:13:31occasional updates like for my business
- 00:13:33book club sometimes I add in new books
- 00:13:34that I read or new lessons that I learn
- 00:13:36but generally the main asset is done
- 00:13:39cons require serious traffic strategy or
- 00:13:41maybe some Ty of funnel if you want to
- 00:13:43sell it regularly needs proper product
- 00:13:45validation specifically of all digital
- 00:13:47products I will say this one I think the
- 00:13:49market is the reddest go to Etsy type
- 00:13:52and templates there are thousands of
- 00:13:54things there so you need a
- 00:13:55differentiator of some kind you have to
- 00:13:57be able to answer the question why would
- 00:13:59they buy your thing over somebody else's
- 00:14:02and you need to be able to answer that
- 00:14:04quickly and very thoroughly and now it's
- 00:14:06time for product a shame my product of
- 00:14:08Shame this year is my salary raise and
- 00:14:11increase email template which made $14
- 00:14:15two whole sales of $7 each honestly I
- 00:14:17should be shamed because I just didn't
- 00:14:19promote it um so yeah actually it's
- 00:14:23person of Shame me sorry all right next
- 00:14:26thing that I have available for sale are
- 00:14:29bundles and kits so that is where I
- 00:14:31bundle a bunch of stuff together and I
- 00:14:34sell it like that so I have some
- 00:14:35examples that I sell here on the screen
- 00:14:37like client onboarding kit so everything
- 00:14:38you need to onboard a client hiring a
- 00:14:40freelancer kit so everything you need to
- 00:14:41hire a freelancer landing client kit so
- 00:14:43everything you need to land clients and
- 00:14:45all of these bundles and kits all
- 00:14:47together made about $4,000 I will say
- 00:14:49effort required is probably also a three
- 00:14:51or four out of a five you're so cute so
- 00:14:54Pros it's pretty passive after the
- 00:14:57initial setup so yeah unless unless you
- 00:14:59need to maintain something of it cons
- 00:15:02requires traffic strategy requires
- 00:15:03product validation see if I had the
- 00:15:05tattoo I could just point to it I'd be
- 00:15:07like and I will say about kits and
- 00:15:09bundles I'm always like oh this is so
- 00:15:10smart instead of selling a oneoff
- 00:15:12template I'll just sell a kit and it'll
- 00:15:14be like branded around the job to be
- 00:15:16done versus like a one-off thing it is
- 00:15:19always more work than I expect it's like
- 00:15:21at least twice as much more work than I
- 00:15:23and to estimate and I'm a good estimator
- 00:15:26I think all right so now comes to the
- 00:15:27lesson here is what I think you should
- 00:15:29prioritize if you feel very called to
- 00:15:31create digital products okay this is the
- 00:15:33order in which I would focus on things
- 00:15:35number one product validation do people
- 00:15:38actually want to give you money for this
- 00:15:40thing product quality is this thing
- 00:15:42you're creating actually good like
- 00:15:44especially in digital products because
- 00:15:45there is so little quality control and
- 00:15:47digital products like I was saying with
- 00:15:48online courses you have to make sure
- 00:15:49that it is good enough to solve the
- 00:15:51problem that you are promising it solves
- 00:15:53product quality is the foundation of
- 00:15:55everything else you could have the best
- 00:15:56marketing best sales best traffic in the
- 00:15:58world but if your product sucks it's not
- 00:16:00going to go anywhere third thing traffic
- 00:16:02strategy how will people find this on a
- 00:16:04recurring basis how will people find it
- 00:16:06because like I said it is not build it
- 00:16:07and they will come build it and they
- 00:16:09will not come at all unless you tell
- 00:16:11them about it over and over and over
- 00:16:13again right now we've talked about
- 00:16:14digital products let's move on to some
- 00:16:15of the more service based stuff so the
- 00:16:17first one is 101 coaching so I offered
- 00:16:19that this year in the form of boxer
- 00:16:21access to me to some select students
- 00:16:24that opted for this so vure for those of
- 00:16:26you that don't know is a voice and text
- 00:16:27messaging app so they just send me any
- 00:16:29questions or what they're stuck on or
- 00:16:30what they need accountability on and
- 00:16:32then I just reply to them basically so
- 00:16:34this generated about $24,000 this year I
- 00:16:37would say effort it's like a four or
- 00:16:39five out of a five it's Pros are fun
- 00:16:42when done with the right people so when
- 00:16:43you enjoy the people that you are
- 00:16:45coaching it's very fun because they're
- 00:16:46very cool and you're really impressed by
- 00:16:48them and everything so that's awesome
- 00:16:50and it can be very fulfilling in the
- 00:16:52sense that the coaching can be very
- 00:16:54impactful for your students or clients
- 00:16:56cons I think it's relatively High
- 00:16:58barrier to entry because you need an
- 00:16:59audience or some sort of credibility to
- 00:17:01be able to do this like I would not have
- 00:17:03been able to do this I think in my first
- 00:17:052 3 years until I had gained enough
- 00:17:07knowledge to be like oh this is what I
- 00:17:10can help people with and this is what I
- 00:17:11can help them problem solve and also I
- 00:17:13mean this kind of depends on your
- 00:17:14personality type I'm on the introverted
- 00:17:16side so it can be a little bit draining
- 00:17:18energy wise all right next one is
- 00:17:20freelancing so freelancing I scaled all
- 00:17:22the way back once I started my digital
- 00:17:24product business but actually last year
- 00:17:27I decided to sign a business manager
- 00:17:29client again because I was auditing my
- 00:17:32course dbm boot camp and I wanted to be
- 00:17:33sure that I wasn't somebody who was like
- 00:17:36so out of touch from what they teach in
- 00:17:37their digital products you know I was
- 00:17:39like I'm auditing the course I want to
- 00:17:40make sure that I update the course with
- 00:17:42what I currently in 2024 2025 would be
- 00:17:46doing with clients as well so I took on
- 00:17:48a dbm client on a very small basis but I
- 00:17:50love her she's amazing super cool
- 00:17:52business owner super cool content
- 00:17:53creator so yeah I'm really enjoying
- 00:17:55helping her with project management
- 00:17:57launch management managing her team all
- 00:17:59that good stuff so yeah that generate
- 00:18:01about $7,000 this year I also did a
- 00:18:02little bit of Consulting for other
- 00:18:04people's businesses but yeah $7,000 with
- 00:18:06very very little time commitment
- 00:18:08basically effort required very high
- 00:18:10effort it's like oneon-one service
- 00:18:11that's always the highest requirement in
- 00:18:13my opinion so Pros here obviously with
- 00:18:16all things freelancing I'm a huge fan
- 00:18:18girl so Freedom passion interest very
- 00:18:20low costs and expenses you get to work
- 00:18:22with tons of cool clients going behind
- 00:18:24the scenes of their business is super
- 00:18:25interesting because you're like I want
- 00:18:26to know how everything works cons it's
- 00:18:29trading time for money if you are hourly
- 00:18:31so of course there are other ways of
- 00:18:32structuring your freelancing that aren't
- 00:18:34hourly so for example deliverable based
- 00:18:36or Project based where you just promise
- 00:18:38to deliver something specific and then
- 00:18:40it doesn't really matter how long you do
- 00:18:42that it's also stressful if you work
- 00:18:43with bad clients so that's very
- 00:18:44important if you're not careful there
- 00:18:46can be big cons but if you're careful
- 00:18:47and you have the boundaries in place
- 00:18:49then you'll probably be fine so yeah you
- 00:18:51have to watch your boundaries you have
- 00:18:52to manage yourself you have to yeah have
- 00:18:55clear scope and I have videos on all of
- 00:18:56these things if you need help with all
- 00:18:58those things but my lesson here and I
- 00:19:01really think this is interesting is the
- 00:19:038020 is real 80% of your results come
- 00:19:05from 20% of your input for me if you
- 00:19:08look at this income stream graph I mean
- 00:19:09you can see the 8020 right like a tiny
- 00:19:11portion of my offering makes up at least
- 00:19:1480% of my income so do not divide your
- 00:19:16attention time energy into 10 different
- 00:19:18paths focus on one which is what I did
- 00:19:21with dban boot camp I focused on it very
- 00:19:23intensely for a very long time I set up
- 00:19:26the right systems I set up the right
- 00:19:28product validation I set up the right
- 00:19:29traffic strategies and I still invest
- 00:19:31heavily into the traffic strategies so
- 00:19:33most of my energy also goes to dbn boot
- 00:19:34camp and then creat systems for it then
- 00:19:37diversify into other income streams and
- 00:19:39that is like one of the biggest
- 00:19:40takeaways I want you to have from this
- 00:19:41video is make sure you are not starting
- 00:19:4415 different things at the same time
- 00:19:45that is doing yourself a disservice
- 00:19:47because you don't even give yourself
- 00:19:49enough time and energy to get good at
- 00:19:50one thing then all right so now let's
- 00:19:52talk about Creator related income
- 00:19:53streams because I did not realize this
- 00:19:55until somebody said to me earlier this
- 00:19:56year like oh yeah day as a YouTuber day
- 00:19:58as a content creator I was like what a
- 00:20:01YouTuber seems drastic of an identity
- 00:20:04and they're like you've been making
- 00:20:05YouTube videos weekly for like years
- 00:20:07haven't you and I'm like yeah but I
- 00:20:10wouldn't call myself a YouTuber there
- 00:20:11are differences to being a content
- 00:20:13creator and being a business owner for
- 00:20:14sure so I want to talk about the income
- 00:20:17that comes from content creation is
- 00:20:18specifically separate from the business
- 00:20:20side essentially okay so 2016 like I
- 00:20:22said started freelancing right 2021 I
- 00:20:25started uploading videos about
- 00:20:26freelancing twice a week on YouTube then
- 00:20:28a year after my YouTube was monetized so
- 00:20:32I made like 50 to 100 videos before my
- 00:20:35YouTube was monetized just for contact
- 00:20:38and then 2023 I started taking Tik Tok
- 00:20:40more seriously I posted more and this
- 00:20:43year I started making money through the
- 00:20:45Tik Tok creative program so let's talk
- 00:20:48about it YouTube AdSense roughly this
- 00:20:50year I made about
- 00:20:52$22,000 I would say effort for YouTube
- 00:20:55one of the hardest things I've ever done
- 00:20:56I'll be super honest I did not expect
- 00:20:58expect YouTube to be this much work
- 00:21:01luckily the pros are I enjoy it I really
- 00:21:03enjoy it I find it very interesting I
- 00:21:05find it fun I love the educational
- 00:21:07content I love structuring content I
- 00:21:08love working with my team I love reading
- 00:21:11comments and talking with you guys I
- 00:21:12feel like once I got into this mindset
- 00:21:15of like I'm building my dream business
- 00:21:17friend community on YouTube that's when
- 00:21:20I was like oh this is fun you know so
- 00:21:23yeah I get to learn a lot of valuable
- 00:21:24skills that I find very interesting
- 00:21:25planning editing visuals thumbnails
- 00:21:27scripting design it's a lot of human
- 00:21:29psychology related in YouTube as well so
- 00:21:31I love that um growing a community of
- 00:21:33people that love what I love I love that
- 00:21:35cool new friends yeah very cheesy but
- 00:21:37love it um and I think YouTube has one
- 00:21:40of the best Creator monetization
- 00:21:41programs that I have seen of most of the
- 00:21:43social media platforms and YouTube I
- 00:21:46think has way more longevity than other
- 00:21:48forms of content like short form content
- 00:21:50and your backlog on YouTube is extremely
- 00:21:52valuable I almost treat it like a
- 00:21:53portfolio like people will sometimes
- 00:21:55find my video and then be like I watched
- 00:21:57all your other videos with YouTube the
- 00:21:59search engine is quite good and it's
- 00:22:01also on like Google that if people are
- 00:22:03looking for something and you have good
- 00:22:05keywords in some of your older videos
- 00:22:07that gives it a chance to succeed beyond
- 00:22:09the first whatever two weeks cons not as
- 00:22:12easy as it seems to make livable money
- 00:22:15it took me years to make livable money
- 00:22:20from YouTube and it is a bit
- 00:22:22unpredictable as well so you can see
- 00:22:24here even in the graph that like middle
- 00:22:26of this year we had a bit of a popup off
- 00:22:28here on YouTube so I made great money in
- 00:22:31those months but then it dips back down
- 00:22:33so yeah so roughly now it's like 1.8k to
- 00:22:362K a month which if I were to scrimp I
- 00:22:39could live off of that um so but yeah I
- 00:22:42need to use that to pay my YouTube team
- 00:22:44so so I can't use that to live off of so
- 00:22:47and another one it's a very very
- 00:22:48long-term game yeah you could make
- 00:22:50content for months or years with very
- 00:22:52few viewers and 0 and that's just a
- 00:22:54commitment you have to make if you feel
- 00:22:55deeply called to do it and it's more
- 00:22:57complicated than I originally thought
- 00:22:59it's definitely way more complicated
- 00:23:00YouTube has way more skills involved
- 00:23:01than I originally thought I thought it
- 00:23:02was just make good content the rest will
- 00:23:05figure itself out Tik Tok paid me I
- 00:23:07don't think I'm allowed to say exactly
- 00:23:08how much but they paid me less than $500
- 00:23:10this year and this year I also did a 100
- 00:23:13day posting challenge so I posted at
- 00:23:16least 100 times on Tik Tok this year
- 00:23:18girls it's easier for sure obviously
- 00:23:20lower barrier to make short form content
- 00:23:22than long form long form YouTube videos
- 00:23:24take us hours and hours and hours and
- 00:23:26hours and me and my team short form I'll
- 00:23:28say maybe it takes like 20 to 30 minutes
- 00:23:30if I try really hard to make one short
- 00:23:32form video and you can do it with your
- 00:23:33phone so very low barrier to entry cons
- 00:23:35it takes a while to get good at the
- 00:23:37skill like most skills it takes time to
- 00:23:39figure it out and to figure out what
- 00:23:41people want to hear from you to figure
- 00:23:42out the hook to figure out pacing and
- 00:23:45also honestly very little money from the
- 00:23:46Tik Tok monetization program to be very
- 00:23:49Frank yeah and very unpredictable you do
- 00:23:52not know what will pop up there was one
- 00:23:54video I was sitting on for weeks and
- 00:23:55weeks and weeks and I was like oh I
- 00:23:57don't know if I should post this I don't
- 00:23:58know if people will like it now it's my
- 00:24:00most viewed video and it has generated
- 00:24:02the most amount of Revenue all right
- 00:24:03affiliate I will just say the caveat
- 00:24:05here is I did not take this seriously so
- 00:24:08again shame shame on me but I just never
- 00:24:11take affiliate marketing that seriously
- 00:24:12I'm like you need so much to make it
- 00:24:14work like a lot of affiliate programs
- 00:24:16pay you peanuts um and you just need
- 00:24:19like such big volume that I'm like if I
- 00:24:21focus too much on this it will draw away
- 00:24:22Focus From the 8020 products everything
- 00:24:25you choose to do comes at a sacrifice to
- 00:24:27something else ort I think it's
- 00:24:29generally easy when it's done
- 00:24:30authentically and ethically and you can
- 00:24:33promote products you genuinely like like
- 00:24:34I love it when like fashion creators
- 00:24:36show me cool outfits and they're like I
- 00:24:38linked all of these items in my link in
- 00:24:40BIO and they affiliate links I love that
- 00:24:41but the cons here is you need an
- 00:24:43audience or serious traffic strategy to
- 00:24:47make good money from this like I said if
- 00:24:50they pay you so little like sometimes
- 00:24:51it's like a couple sents for different
- 00:24:53things what I have found works pretty
- 00:24:54good and what most of this comes from is
- 00:24:56me mentioning tools that I use in my
- 00:24:58business and then including an affiliate
- 00:25:00link so for example I use tools like
- 00:25:01notion so I have a notion affiliate link
- 00:25:03so if anybody ever pays for notion and
- 00:25:05goes on a paid plan then I get a small
- 00:25:07cut of that air table has an affilia
- 00:25:09program for every person that I
- 00:25:11recommend they give me $10 credit in air
- 00:25:13table so I have like $5,000 air table
- 00:25:16credits because I've referred hundreds
- 00:25:18of people to air table but they you
- 00:25:20can't cash that out it's like credits
- 00:25:21and air table so I will be using air
- 00:25:23table till the day I die for free I
- 00:25:25think yeah I have a big list of
- 00:25:26affiliate links and you know what I'm
- 00:25:28gonna put them all in the description
- 00:25:30box so if there's any tool you want to
- 00:25:31use that I use and you want to use my
- 00:25:35affiliate link that would be super cool
- 00:25:36but obviously no pressure don't buy
- 00:25:38anything you don't need and you don't
- 00:25:39have as much cons control over affiliate
- 00:25:42stuff because you don't control the
- 00:25:43products as much as if you sell your own
- 00:25:45stuff so that's another con that I W
- 00:25:46mention so those are my income streams
- 00:25:48those are roughly how it breaks down you
- 00:25:49can see dbm boot camp is roughly
- 00:25:5162.4% of the income stream from the past
- 00:25:5511 months again I did this January 1st
- 00:25:57to December 1st because I'm filming this
- 00:25:59in the first week of December so I can't
- 00:26:01get you all of December's data I'm very
- 00:26:02sorry um and then it was one1 coaching
- 00:26:05then it was YouTube then it was
- 00:26:07royalties which sorry I forgot to
- 00:26:08mention but the side business that I
- 00:26:10started with my partner Max um we licens
- 00:26:14the products that we created to other
- 00:26:16websites and they pay us royalties based
- 00:26:19on how many people consume the products
- 00:26:21that we licensed to them so that's what
- 00:26:22the royalties are just so you know cool
- 00:26:25so let's talk
- 00:26:262025 so staying in 2025 obviously DB and
- 00:26:30boot camp I love it it's my baby it's my
- 00:26:32pride and joy YouTube I Love YouTube I
- 00:26:35enjoy Tik Tok as well I think I will
- 00:26:36dabble in it a bit more but I don't
- 00:26:38think I really take it seriously as a
- 00:26:40monetization strategy or like an income
- 00:26:42stream so I'll just do it if I enjoy it
- 00:26:44but I'm not going to take it that
- 00:26:45seriously Affiliates starting with me
- 00:26:48putting all the affiliate links I have
- 00:26:49in the description box I'm going to take
- 00:26:51it more seriously in 20125 and see what
- 00:26:53happens and I'll report back also
- 00:26:55smaller one-on-one offers I think this
- 00:26:57year offering boxer access was really
- 00:26:59nice for me I really enjoyed it so I
- 00:27:00think I will do a little bit more of
- 00:27:01that in the future and I think it gets
- 00:27:03people better results sometimes when
- 00:27:05they can get a quick answer from me
- 00:27:07directly doing less of next year low
- 00:27:10price products I mean you can see like
- 00:27:13most of them I felt required so much
- 00:27:15work and it's not that you can't make
- 00:27:17great money from low priced products
- 00:27:19it's that you need to go all in on low
- 00:27:21pric products you have to fully invest
- 00:27:23in building yourself out as like a shop
- 00:27:26or you need to have really good product
- 00:27:28validation and ideation and making sure
- 00:27:30that your products are actually going to
- 00:27:31fly off the shelves so it's not that
- 00:27:33they don't work I know people who run
- 00:27:35multi6 figure or even seven fig
- 00:27:37businesses selling low pric product it
- 00:27:40just takes a lot of time and dedication
- 00:27:42and like we always talk about your time
- 00:27:44and energy is finite so everything you
- 00:27:46put into one product is something you're
- 00:27:48taking away from another product I'm
- 00:27:49also going to do less kits and bundles
- 00:27:51same reason and they're way more work
- 00:27:52DIY courses I also feel this is my
- 00:27:54little gut feeling if you've stayed this
- 00:27:56long that you can hear my little
- 00:27:59conspiracy theories about online
- 00:28:00business but I actually think DIY
- 00:28:02courses is slowly becoming less popular
- 00:28:07because people are looking for
- 00:28:08accountability action taking and new
- 00:28:10things next year that I want to
- 00:28:12potentially do brand sponsorship so I am
- 00:28:14about to sign I mean knock on what it's
- 00:28:16going to happen but I'm about to sign a
- 00:28:18contract for my first ever brand sponsor
- 00:28:20here on YouTube very exciting we're
- 00:28:23outlining the videos right now so that's
- 00:28:25yeah probably going to happen early next
- 00:28:27year we'll see
- 00:28:28profit sharing um if you have watched
- 00:28:30some of my past videos you'll know that
- 00:28:32I am in the process of helping my video
- 00:28:34editor Maya make a course and we are
- 00:28:35going to do some sort of profit share
- 00:28:36for that I think that's a really cool
- 00:28:38model because I really believe in her
- 00:28:40I'm investing in her building this
- 00:28:42product and then yeah I will shareing
- 00:28:45the profits with her hopefully and
- 00:28:47potentially podcast ads so potentially
- 00:28:48if there is a new podcast coming next
- 00:28:50year with one of my friends if there is
- 00:28:52that then potentially sponsorships in
- 00:28:54the podcast and potentially I want to do
- 00:28:56more live Sprints and live workshops
- 00:28:59yeah I just feel like live is going to
- 00:29:00come back a little bit now if you want
- 00:29:02to see how much money it takes to run my
- 00:29:04business AKA how much I pay my team
- 00:29:06members how much I pay for tools what
- 00:29:09kind of tools I use all of that good
- 00:29:10stuff then you can watch that video here
- 00:29:13and as always thank you so much for
- 00:29:15hanging out and I hope to see you in the
- 00:29:17next one okay bye byebye
