- 00:00:00 - 00:05:00
The current economic and materialistic society is deemed false and unsustainable, with a call for an entirely new system that harmonizes technology and nature for human benefit.
- 00:05:00 - 00:10:00
Experiencing the consequences of the Great Depression sparked a social consciousness about how society operates, revealing that abundance exists in resources but not in access. The existing rules seem outdated, leading to exploration for systemic change toward a peaceful civilization.
- 00:10:00 - 00:15:00
The Venus Project is introduced as a comprehensive plan for social reform, advocating for a culture redesign that eliminates war, poverty, and suffering as unacceptable, urging a shift from current outdated systems to a more equitable and sustainable future.
- 00:15:00 - 00:20:00
The problems of today stem from obsolete systems that prioritize profit over human well-being, leading to ongoing issues like poverty and resource scarcity. Acknowledging this, the proposal is for a new set of values that lead to a sustainable society, contrasting outdated views with the emergence of a new societal framework.
- 00:20:00 - 00:25:00
Existing economic systems (capitalism, socialism, etc.) have not resolved issues of elitism, scarcity, or conflict. The societal obsession with competition and profit leads to violence and war, inefficient allocation of resources, and ignores the root causes of global problems, emphasizing the need for radical change.
- 00:25:00 - 00:30:00
The interconnectedness of social violence via poverty, homelessness, and war are presented as myths perpetuated to sustain the status quo, urging a new understanding of human behavior as shaped by culture rather than biology, emphasizing education and systemic change as key to societal improvement.
- 00:30:00 - 00:35:00
Numerous laws exist but fail to address the root causes of societal problems. Real change requires an intelligent management of resources rather than a reliance on outdated laws. Human behavior and societal dynamics are influenced more by environmental factors than by legislation.
- 00:35:00 - 00:40:00
The concept of planned obsolescence in our economy leads to wastefulness and environmental degradation. The current monetary system, which lacks intrinsic value, needs a complete redesign, focusing on resource availability rather than an outdated wealth-based paradigm.
- 00:40:00 - 00:48:12
A resource-based economy proposed by Jack Fresco suggests abundance for all without the constraints of money or servitude, emphasizing the requirement for intelligent management of resources to create a better, advanced civilization where everyone thrives.

- 00:09:58he said say yes my brother has

- 00:10:09culture social and environmental
- 00:10:11problems will remain insurmountable as
- 00:10:14long as few Nations control most of the
- 00:10:17Earth's resources and the bottom line is
- 00:10:20profit over the well-being of people
- 00:10:23putting profit first results in
- 00:10:25unnecessary suffering and aberant
- 00:10:27behavior prevalent today
- 00:10:34many people feel that we need the rule
- 00:10:36of law to eliminate our problems we have
- 00:10:39many laws thousands upon thousands of
- 00:10:41them but they are constantly being
- 00:10:44broken paper proclamations and treaties
- 00:10:48do not alter the facts of scarcity
- 00:10:51deprivation and
- 00:10:52[Music]
- 00:10:55insecurity You can predict the shape of
- 00:10:58the future and the values if you know
- 00:11:02the trends of events and the ocean
- 00:11:04pollution the scarcity of arable land if
- 00:11:07you watch that degrading system grow I
- 00:11:11can predict the riots and killing and
- 00:11:14assassination in other words human
- 00:11:16behavior is really generated by the
- 00:11:19surrounding environment if there's a
- 00:11:21scarcity say of water it is priced and
- 00:11:24its price is high let's discuss scarcity
- 00:11:28as a system system suppose it rained
- 00:11:30gold for about 3 days Gold Dust people
- 00:11:34would go out and shovel it in fill the
- 00:11:36cellers the attic every drawer that they
- 00:11:38throw out that clothing if the rain kept
- 00:11:41up for a year so that gold was all over
- 00:11:44the place people would sweep it out of
- 00:11:46the house take their rings off throw
- 00:11:48them away and so human behavior under
- 00:11:50goes change to that condition there's
- 00:11:53only a a policeman in front of something
- 00:11:56that people have need for and don't
- 00:11:58don't have access to so you put a guard
- 00:12:01there but if lemon trees or orange trees
- 00:12:04and apple trees grew all over the place
- 00:12:07you couldn't sell it if you landed on an
- 00:12:09island that was so abundant with
- 00:12:11resources you had 10 people there were a
- 00:12:14th000 fish for every person if you
- 00:12:16wanted it there were 10 times the amount
- 00:12:18of bread fruit and bananas money would
- 00:12:20not come into existence private property
- 00:12:23would not come into existence if the
- 00:12:25island was big enough there was 10
- 00:12:27people there was 8,000 acers no one
- 00:12:30would give a damn about staking out this
- 00:12:32particular
- 00:12:34area there are patterns of behavior that
- 00:12:37promote survival there are social
- 00:12:39conditions that change our values and
- 00:12:41Outlook no one can write a constitution
- 00:12:45of required Behavior without consulting
- 00:12:49the
- 00:12:50environment so we better take care of
- 00:12:53the environment we'd better take care of
- 00:12:55one another and we'd better educate
- 00:12:57people to the high highest possible
- 00:12:59levels of our ability in order to have a
- 00:13:05society even a peace treaty cannot
- 00:13:07prevent Another War if the underlying
- 00:13:09causes are not dealt
- 00:13:12with maybe what is needed are ethical
- 00:13:15people in government who will work
- 00:13:17towards everyone's
- 00:13:20well-being but even if the most ethical
- 00:13:22people were elected to high positions
- 00:13:24and we ran out of resources there would
- 00:13:27still be lying cheating stealing and
- 00:13:31Corruption it's not ethical people that
- 00:13:34are needed but rather a way of
- 00:13:36intelligently managing the Earth's
- 00:13:37resources for everyone's
- 00:13:40[Music]
- 00:13:48[Music]
- 00:13:50well-being let's examine our social
- 00:13:53Arrangements
- 00:13:55further to maintain our economy product
- 00:13:59must continuously be
- 00:14:02sold to assure this they are
- 00:14:04deliberately designed to wear out and
- 00:14:06break
- 00:14:08down maybe you've noticed this usually
- 00:14:11happens right after the warranty
- 00:14:16expires this corrupt practice is
- 00:14:19referred to as planned
- 00:14:21obsolescence which is the conscious
- 00:14:23withdrawal of
- 00:14:27efficiency innovators go through the
- 00:14:30finest schools and then are required to
- 00:14:32design things that wear out and break
- 00:14:34down right on
- 00:14:37schedule this results in a tremendous
- 00:14:40waste of resources and
- 00:14:44energy we are plundering the planet for
- 00:14:51profits if you think about it it isn't a
- 00:14:54job people want but access to what their
- 00:14:57paycheck will bring
- 00:14:59money does not represent anything real
- 00:15:02and there's no gold silver or resource
- 00:15:04to back it
- 00:15:08up you can't eat money or build a house
- 00:15:11of it it's not even related to our real
- 00:15:14capacity to produce goods and services
- 00:15:16on this
- 00:15:17planet the monetary system has been
- 00:15:20handed down from centuries ago and we
- 00:15:23continue to use it without
- 00:15:27questions
- 00:15:29[Music]
- 00:15:34this system will keep installing more
- 00:15:36and more automation cutting down on the
- 00:15:38purchasing power of the majority of
- 00:15:40people there will come a time it's
- 00:15:42called The gsan Curve where employment
- 00:15:45is that production is this and
- 00:15:47purchasing power is that the system
- 00:15:50stops Banks fail nothing works anymore
- 00:15:53we're moving in that direction very
- 00:15:56rapidly we have finally gotten to a
- 00:15:58place
- 00:16:00in 2011 where it's becoming obvious that
- 00:16:03the machine has beaten the man we're
- 00:16:05incred we're incredibly productive with
- 00:16:08far fewer people we are more productive
- 00:16:10we are more productive as an economy
- 00:16:11than ever before that means we need more
- 00:16:15people just that there are fewer jobs
- 00:16:17the jobs that do exist now can have
- 00:16:19lower wages because obvious reasons a
- 00:16:21lot of people looking for small number
- 00:16:23of jobs the wages go down that has huge
- 00:16:25impacts on the middle class and ripples
- 00:16:27out from there
- 00:16:29we're moving towards social collapse I
- 00:16:31think this H going to happen all over
- 00:16:33the world not just here and it doesn't
- 00:16:35require the overthrow of the government
- 00:16:37it just requires that you let it alone
- 00:16:40it'll overthrow itself if you control
- 00:16:43the media you can calm people down but
- 00:16:46if the majority keeps getting laid off
- 00:16:48they don't have purchasing power the
- 00:16:50system collaps doesn't work anymore they
- 00:16:53invade it's already happening this
- 00:16:55country is already insoluble they're
- 00:16:59going to have difficulty with National
- 00:17:00Security paying pension people they
- 00:17:03spend far beyond what they already have
- 00:17:07now all they can do now is create debt
- 00:17:09borrow more and more money from from
- 00:17:11Banks we also want to show you a rather
- 00:17:13Grim sign of our times it's not far from
- 00:17:16here in Midtown Manhattan the national
- 00:17:18debt has grown too large for the
- 00:17:21national debt clock it went out back in
- 00:17:231989 when the nation's debt was less
- 00:17:26than $3 trillion the debt has been
- 00:17:29piling up so fast lately they had to
- 00:17:31drop the dollar sign to make room for an
- 00:17:34extra digit as the number turned over to
- 00:17:37more than $1 trillion now and Counting
- 00:17:40every second a whole new clock with two
- 00:17:44Extra Spaces will go up next year the
- 00:17:47federal government is not allowed to
- 00:17:49print money it's not allowed to lend
- 00:17:52money or get in the banking business
- 00:17:54that is a privilege for Bankers only so
- 00:17:57what the government has to do if they
- 00:17:58want to build an Air Force say of 2,000
- 00:18:01planes a month they have to borrow money
- 00:18:03from a private lending
- 00:18:05institution sign the dotted line and if
- 00:18:08the war is lost or failed the burden
- 00:18:10falls on the public to pay off that
- 00:18:27debt
- 00:18:38we find ourselves in our social
- 00:18:40constructs in a transitional State a
- 00:18:42matter of social Evolution if we want to
- 00:18:45make it through these turbulent times we
- 00:18:48must be able to adapt to
- 00:18:50change all things change including our
- 00:18:53social
- 00:18:56systems Alberton Einstein stated we
- 00:19:00cannot solve problems by using the same
- 00:19:02kind of thinking we used when we created
- 00:19:05[Music]
- 00:19:08them Earth is still abundant with
- 00:19:11resources our practice of rationing
- 00:19:13resources through monetary control is no
- 00:19:16longer relevant and is actually
- 00:19:18counterproductive to our very
- 00:19:22survival today we have highly Advanced
- 00:19:26Technologies but our social and economic
- 00:19:28system has not kept up with our
- 00:19:30technological capabilities which could
- 00:19:32otherwise easily create a world of
- 00:19:35abundance for all free of servitude and
- 00:19:38debt how can this be
- 00:19:41possible there is not enough money to
- 00:19:44feed or house all people on this planet
- 00:19:47let alone accomplish these more
- 00:19:48ambitious
- 00:19:49ends but Earth has more than enough
- 00:19:52resources to meet the needs of all
- 00:19:55people but only if managed intelligently
- 00:20:01[Music]
- 00:20:08L Jack Fresco envisions a solution that
- 00:20:11he calls a resource-based economy it is
- 00:20:14a socioeconomic system in which all
- 00:20:17goods and services are available to
- 00:20:19everyone without the use of money barter
- 00:20:22credit debt or servitude of any kind it
- 00:20:27is unlike any social system that has
- 00:20:29gone
- 00:20:30before Fresco arrived at this direction
- 00:20:33through 75 years of study and
- 00:20:35experimental
- 00:20:36[Music]
- 00:20:41research a resource based economy
- 00:20:45operates on the basis of available
- 00:20:47resources and makes those resources
- 00:20:49available to every human being on Earth
- 00:20:52free of charge without a price tag so we
- 00:20:56have today more than enough resources to
- 00:20:59build a far more advanced Society I'm
- 00:21:02not talking about limited handouts so
- 00:21:05people just get by I'm talking about a
- 00:21:07very Advanced civilization we have the
- 00:21:10resources we have the technology all we
- 00:21:13have to do is apply it one of the main
- 00:21:15aspects of the Venus Project is to
- 00:21:18eliminate scarcity this is where the
- 00:21:20technology comes into play because if we
- 00:21:23set up a resource-based economy and some
- 00:21:25things are scarce it it won't work if
- 00:21:28you set up a resource-based economy in a
- 00:21:30society that has no resources it won't
- 00:21:32work so today with our technology we can
- 00:21:36make things available we can eliminate
- 00:21:39scarcity we can create an abundance as
- 00:21:42long as we can create that abundance
- 00:21:44that will eliminate greed and
- 00:21:47selfishness and a lot of crime and a lot
- 00:21:50of aberant
- 00:21:52behavior a social system can be designed
- 00:21:55so that all can live fully and
- 00:21:57constructively ly if the powers of
- 00:21:59Science and Technology are directed
- 00:22:01toward human and environmental concern
- 00:22:03and overcoming the artificial scarcities
- 00:22:06of our debt-based monetary
- 00:22:10systems all people regardless of
- 00:22:12political philosophy social Customs or
- 00:22:15religious differences ultimately depend
- 00:22:17upon the same resources clean air and
- 00:22:21water aable
- 00:22:23Land Medical Care and a relevant
- 00:22:27education
- 00:22:30I think if you pledge allegiance to the
- 00:22:33Earth and everyone on it that' be the
- 00:22:36way to go for the
- 00:22:38future the human species is a single
- 00:22:40family and the world is home to everyone
- 00:22:44neither Nations nor people can coexist
- 00:22:46separately any
- 00:22:48longer no more separate Nations so
- 00:22:51anyone can go anywhere before the states
- 00:22:54joined together they used to stake out
- 00:22:56their territory they used to fight they
- 00:22:59had militias they would fight this is
- 00:23:01our territory Oh no you're intruding
- 00:23:04when all the states joined together the
- 00:23:06government worked out the lines of the
- 00:23:08states and they agreed and that was the
- 00:23:10end of territorial disputes if you on
- 00:23:14the end of War you must declare the
- 00:23:17Earth common
- 00:23:19[Music]
- 00:23:26heritage
- 00:23:28this has nothing to do with those who
- 00:23:30want to form an elite world order with
- 00:23:34themselves and large corporations in
- 00:23:36control and the rest of the world
- 00:23:39subservient to them on the contrary a
- 00:23:42global resource-based economy enables
- 00:23:45all people to reach their Highest
- 00:23:47Potential where they can Thrive and grow
- 00:23:51in a society that works in their behalf
- 00:23:53a society that protects and preserves
- 00:23:56the environment as well
- 00:23:58one that understands that we are part of
- 00:24:00nature not separate from
- 00:24:04[Music]
- 00:24:12it some question what would happen to
- 00:24:14incentive if needs were met without our
- 00:24:17having to work to attain them the
- 00:24:19question assumes humans have no desires
- 00:24:21Beyond basic needs if that were true
- 00:24:24there would be no
- 00:24:26inventors writers or teachers people
- 00:24:30work with passion on the things that
- 00:24:32interest and challenge them let's enable
- 00:24:35all people to have the opportunity to
- 00:24:37partake in the greatest challenge one
- 00:24:39can have improving our world for
- 00:24:44everyone individuality will be
- 00:24:46emphasized rather than
- 00:24:48uniformity this social Arrangement will
- 00:24:51generate a new incentive system that
- 00:24:53values the protection of the environment
- 00:24:55and social concern rather than the
- 00:24:57shallow self-centered goals of wealth
- 00:25:00property and
- 00:25:02power it does not call for uniformity it
- 00:25:05absolutely calls for diversity the more
- 00:25:09diverse people are the more
- 00:25:11individuality so we emphasize
- 00:25:14individuality creativity innovativeness
- 00:25:17this is the essentials of the design it
- 00:25:20is not a group of scientist telling
- 00:25:23people what to do how to live where to
- 00:25:25go what to follow motivation and
- 00:25:28incentive exist when people have
- 00:25:30meaningful tasks true growth and
- 00:25:33development occur when people are
- 00:25:34involved in Creative challenging and
- 00:25:37constructive
- 00:25:38Endeavors however motivation and
- 00:25:40incentive die in The Daily Grind of
- 00:25:43boring and repetitive jobs required to
- 00:25:45earn a
- 00:25:47paycheck if you hand out things to
- 00:25:49people if you fed them and cloth them
- 00:25:52and house them free they're not going to
- 00:25:53work in the morning CU they don't need
- 00:25:55it they got the housing clothing Motion
- 00:25:58Pictures and entertainment why why go to
- 00:26:00work work is painful it's monotonous
- 00:26:03it's boring in the future if if people
- 00:26:07have access to all their needs but they
- 00:26:10don't have any challenges this is where
- 00:26:12it goes to part so people constantly are
- 00:26:16challenged by new things in our schools
- 00:26:19we challenge them with many things that
- 00:26:22are unsolved and many unresolved
- 00:26:24problems if you're wellfed well clothed
- 00:26:27that doesn't stop your brain from
- 00:26:28working that would mean that every
- 00:26:30millionaire does nothing it's turned off
- 00:26:32cuz you got all the means that's not
- 00:26:34true there are many millionaires that
- 00:26:36work 18 hours a day and don't have
- 00:26:38enough time it has to do with your
- 00:26:40background and your education the more
- 00:26:43you know about oceanography astronomy
- 00:26:45and all that the more interest The More
- 00:26:47Alive you are and if you're just given
- 00:26:49food clothing and shelter now you can go
- 00:26:51to work you don't have to worry about
- 00:26:52making a living which your incentive
- 00:26:54would be boosted considerably so I call
- 00:26:57all that a new and Innovative incentive
- 00:26:59system uh it's not monetary oriented
- 00:27:02it's problem solving oriented and you
- 00:27:05get your kicks and a seeing the world
- 00:27:07become a better
- 00:27:10[Music]
- 00:27:17place how can we use our technology
- 00:27:20wisely so that there is more than enough
- 00:27:23for
- 00:27:25everyone to achieve this it's man
- 00:27:27mandatory that the planning for it be
- 00:27:29based on the carrying capacity of the
- 00:27:31planet's
- 00:27:34resources our entire infrastructure must
- 00:27:37be redesigned and operated as coherent
- 00:27:40integrated total systems this means we
- 00:27:43must consider our entire Global
- 00:27:45Community as one unit that includes
- 00:27:47everyone and plan accordingly only in
- 00:27:50this way can we use our technology to
- 00:27:52overcome resource shortages provide
- 00:27:55Universal abundance and protect the
- 00:28:00environment therefore a global survey is
- 00:28:03first needed to assess exactly what we
- 00:28:05have this would inventory our physical
- 00:28:08Resources Personnel production centers
- 00:28:11and the needs of
- 00:28:13people this enables us to determine the
- 00:28:16amount of goods and services needed for
- 00:28:19instance where is the arable land to
- 00:28:21grow crops how many people are in
- 00:28:23various locations and what is the state
- 00:28:26of their health this would determine
- 00:28:28where hospitals are built and how
- 00:28:30[Music]
- 00:28:32many if you try to do that today ask for
- 00:28:36Global resource survey of all Nations
- 00:28:39they'd wonder what are you trying to do
- 00:28:41that for to find if we got enough
- 00:28:42resource to fight you in armaments and
- 00:28:45other things they would be skeptical
- 00:28:47hesitant to give that information so I
- 00:28:50would say it wouldn't work in today's
- 00:28:53culture but after the ideas are put
- 00:28:55forth and the reason for and the
- 00:28:58advantages gained by all the nations it
- 00:29:00would have to be specific advantages
- 00:29:02that they can understand in their terms
- 00:29:06and if they agree then the survey would
- 00:29:09be conducted it's not my opinion or the
- 00:29:12opinion of anyone else would the use
- 00:29:14it's the size of the population the
- 00:29:16availability of resources the carrying
- 00:29:19capacity of the earth that determines
- 00:29:22what is done and how fast things move
- 00:29:25see today it's done on a totally
- 00:29:26different basis but in the future it'll
- 00:29:29all be based on a form of dynamic
- 00:29:33equilibrium that means operating
- 00:29:35everything at The Highest Potential
- 00:29:38without environmental
- 00:29:41[Music]
- 00:29:42neglect the key to achieving abundance
- 00:29:44and a high standard of living for all is
- 00:29:47to automate as much as possible in the
- 00:29:49shortest period of
- 00:29:51time but during the transition we have
- 00:29:55to bring together the the technological
- 00:29:58capabilities of people working with
- 00:30:01computers and working with technology
- 00:30:04and building and designing methods of
- 00:30:08delivering these resources and the
- 00:30:11necessary industrial plants to process
- 00:30:14the
- 00:30:15resources our problems and their
- 00:30:18Solutions are technical not political
- 00:30:21most problems can be solved when
- 00:30:23technology and the methods of science
- 00:30:24are used to serve all people not just a
- 00:30:27select
- 00:30:29few but what is it that you want you
- 00:30:31have to ask yourself I want to live in a
- 00:30:33world where I don't have to fear that my
- 00:30:35children will go into another War where
- 00:30:38there'll be deprivation or problems or
- 00:30:41disease do you know how to build that
- 00:30:42kind of world no I don't or how do you
- 00:30:44go about bu you call upon the various
- 00:30:47divisions of science bring them together
- 00:30:50and say these are the problems we'd like
- 00:30:52to solve a scientific government doesn't
- 00:30:54mean that scientists rule or control
- 00:30:57people
- 00:30:57it means they have better means for
- 00:30:59building Transportation Systems better
- 00:31:02means for cleaning the air they have the
- 00:31:04best means for restoring the ocean that
- 00:31:06we know of to this
- 00:31:09[Music]
- 00:31:11day computers can serve the needs of
- 00:31:14everyone when cyber nation is ultimately
- 00:31:16integrated into all aspects of this new
- 00:31:18and dynamic
- 00:31:21culture one can think of this as an
- 00:31:23electronic nervous system extending into
- 00:31:26all areas of the social
- 00:31:29complex their function would be to
- 00:31:31coordinate a balance between production
- 00:31:33and distribution assuring there are no
- 00:31:35shortages or
- 00:31:38overruns in this highly technical
- 00:31:40Society decisions are based on Direct
- 00:31:43environmental human and Industrial
- 00:31:46feedback you can think of this as
- 00:31:48electrical sensors throughout the entire
- 00:31:51environment from cities factories
- 00:31:54warehouses distribution centers
- 00:31:56transportation networks all over the
- 00:31:59globe Gathering data for more
- 00:32:01appropriate decisions the decisions are
- 00:32:04based on the needs of society rather
- 00:32:07than corporate or private
- 00:32:10interests it is not automated technology
- 00:32:13or machines we should be aware of but
- 00:32:15the abuse and misuse of Technology by
- 00:32:18selfish interests remember it is people
- 00:32:21who decide what ends the machines will
- 00:32:24serve if technology does not liberate
- 00:32:26all people for the pursuit of higher
- 00:32:28aspirations in human achievement then
- 00:32:31all its technological potential will be
- 00:32:34meaningless you always do a positive and
- 00:32:37negative study before you engage in the
- 00:32:40actual reconstruction of an
- 00:32:44[Music]
- 00:32:50environment it's all just talk unless
- 00:32:53there is a technical plan to organize
- 00:32:55and use resources to accomplish
- 00:33:00abundance what follows are some of the
- 00:33:02many approaches the Venus Project
- 00:33:04provides for the entire social
- 00:33:07[Music]
- 00:33:12Spectrum today more than half our
- 00:33:15population lives in cities that are
- 00:33:17polluted dangerous and waste
- 00:33:20energy what we have to do is design a
- 00:33:23city as a living system as an organism
- 00:33:26as a university that all of the cities
- 00:33:28of the future will be University cities
- 00:33:30that grow that continue to exchange
- 00:33:33ideas the city will have a built-in
- 00:33:35transportation system so there are no
- 00:33:37accidents and no unthought out areas of
- 00:33:40Technology medicine botany agriculture
- 00:33:43the total system one planning
- 00:33:47system it is actually better to build
- 00:33:50newer cities from the ground up than to
- 00:33:52restore and maintain old
- 00:33:55ones Fresco uses a systems approach to
- 00:33:59designing new cities they're desirable
- 00:34:01and pleasant places to
- 00:34:05live the notion that intelligent overall
- 00:34:08planning implies Mass uniformity is
- 00:34:11absurd cities would be uniform only to
- 00:34:14the degree that they would require far
- 00:34:15less materials save time and
- 00:34:18energy and be flexible enough to allow
- 00:34:21for Innovative changes while preserving
- 00:34:23the local
- 00:34:25ecology
- 00:34:27if we design our cities to meet human
- 00:34:31needs you don't have most of the
- 00:34:33problems that are prevalent
- 00:34:36today in the central Dome you have child
- 00:34:39care schools Dental Care Medical Care in
- 00:34:44the production and design of the Cities
- 00:34:47we work out 1/8 of the city system and
- 00:34:51then we reproduce it instead of have
- 00:34:54Architects design each building and each
- 00:34:57structure which is a tremendous waste of
- 00:35:00energy and
- 00:35:04talent when working on solving the
- 00:35:06housing problem for all the world's
- 00:35:08people construction techniques would be
- 00:35:10vastly different from those employed
- 00:35:13today extruded and self-erecting
- 00:35:16structures could revolutionize and speed
- 00:35:18up construction
- 00:35:20processes these lightweight durable
- 00:35:23Apartments could be produced as
- 00:35:24continuous extrusions and then separated
- 00:35:27and positioned in place by the mega
- 00:35:30machines the outer shells of these
- 00:35:32efficient structures serve as
- 00:35:34photovoltaic generators and heat
- 00:35:38concentrators you don't own anything in
- 00:35:41the society really people don't want
- 00:35:44money they want access to things when
- 00:35:47they want it and people in a society of
- 00:35:51abundance having access to things will
- 00:35:53really no longer begin to store and
- 00:35:57accumulate things we recycle it update
- 00:36:00it make it better take the same
- 00:36:02materials of an old car where it's just
- 00:36:04as much as a new car so there are no old
- 00:36:07cars old cars mean danger if you drive a
- 00:36:11very expensive car and somebody else
- 00:36:13drives beat up old car if their brakes
- 00:36:16fail you may die we don't want any old
- 00:36:19cars on the highway we don't want
- 00:36:21anything that breaks down we don't want
- 00:36:24anything that takes looking after
- 00:36:27in a resource-based economy people may
- 00:36:30access whatever products they need
- 00:36:32without the burden of having to purchase
- 00:36:34maintain or ensure their
- 00:36:36possessions in this way there is much
- 00:36:39more to go around for everyone and
- 00:36:41products are always available when
- 00:36:43needed anything people may need is
- 00:36:46available in these outside access
- 00:36:50domes sculpturing materials musical
- 00:36:54instruments somewhat like the public
- 00:36:56Library they can go down and access a
- 00:36:59camera or a bicycle or a wristwatch
- 00:37:02anything that they need is available
- 00:37:05without a price tag that would mean we
- 00:37:08must achieve a level of production
- 00:37:11that's so high that scarcity no longer
- 00:37:15exists that will prevent almost all
- 00:37:19crime so there's no way of segmenting or
- 00:37:22making this system just or Equitable we
- 00:37:25have to make a system that assures human
- 00:37:28rights you know when everybody has free
- 00:37:30access to goods and services you don't
- 00:37:31have to fight for women's rights or
- 00:37:33black rights it's an automatic in a
- 00:37:36society that's set up that way you don't
- 00:37:38have to make laws don't steal it would
- 00:37:40bypass that
- 00:37:43behavior surrounding the central Dome
- 00:37:46you have the research centers centers
- 00:37:49that do work that's relevant to the
- 00:37:52sustainability of the entire Community
- 00:37:55as we move away away from the research
- 00:37:57centers we come to the recreational area
- 00:38:01which has tennis courts and all of the
- 00:38:04games that people
- 00:38:05[Music]
- 00:38:10require as we move away from that we
- 00:38:13come to the residential district there
- 00:38:15are streams waterfalls Lakes throughout
- 00:38:19the
- 00:38:25area
- 00:38:27we could provide a wide range of unique
- 00:38:29homes and apartments that can be
- 00:38:31relatively maintenance-free
- 00:38:33fireproof and virtually impervious to
- 00:38:35adverse weather

- 00:38:42conditions as we move to the next sector
- 00:38:45we come to Apartments the reason some
- 00:38:48people want to live in apartments is
- 00:38:50because you have drama groups you have
- 00:38:53gymnasiums Medical Care Dental Care
- 00:38:56everything everything is built in to the
- 00:38:58central Towers I feel that in the future
- 00:39:01people will move away from Individual
- 00:39:03houses and live in larger
- 00:39:07complexes as we move outward we come to
- 00:39:10the indoor agriculture or hydroponic
- 00:39:14Farms then there's also outdoor
- 00:39:21agriculture the city would use the best
- 00:39:23of clean technology in harmony with
- 00:39:25nature such as wind solar geothermal
- 00:39:30heat concentrators pazo electric wave
- 00:39:34temperature differentials ocean thermal
- 00:39:36vents and much
- 00:39:38more a major development for generating
- 00:39:41energy in the future could be the
- 00:39:43construction of a land bridge or tunnel
- 00:39:45across the bearing
- 00:39:47[Music]
- 00:39:49straight these underwater structures
- 00:39:52convert a portion of the ocean currents
- 00:39:54through turbines to generate clean
- 00:39:55sources of power
- 00:39:57Power by using these sources of energy
- 00:40:00we could power the Earth on clean energy
- 00:40:02and enable all people to enjoy a very
- 00:40:04high standard of living for thousands of
- 00:40:06years to
- 00:40:07come there's no need for the use of
- 00:40:10polluting hydrocarbons any longer
- 00:40:13pollution will be a thing of the
- 00:40:17past all Transportation will be
- 00:40:19integrated into a worldwide
- 00:40:21transportation
- 00:40:23system transportation within cities will

- 00:40:39monoral maglev trains are utilized for
- 00:40:42long distance
- 00:40:43travel to enhance efficiency this
- 00:40:46high-speed magl train is equipped with
- 00:40:48removable sections which can be
- 00:40:50disengaged while the train is in
- 00:40:53motion aircraft will display a wide
- 00:40:56range of
- 00:40:59configurations these VTO aircraft or
- 00:41:01vertical takeoff and Landing are used to
- 00:41:04transport passengers and Freight the
- 00:41:07priority is safety rather than saving
- 00:41:09money or dealing with the lowest
- 00:41:13bidder this modular freighter consists
- 00:41:15of detachable sections that can be
- 00:41:17rapidly loaded or
- 00:41:19unloaded the number of sections varies
- 00:41:22depending on the amount of freight to be
- 00:41:24delivered when all the sections are
- 00:41:26connected they can be propelled as a
- 00:41:28single
- 00:41:30unit ships can be floating manufacturing
- 00:41:33plants that produce products while on
- 00:41:35route to their
- 00:41:36destinations they can also serve as
- 00:41:39Education Centers where children and
- 00:41:41adults travel worldwide obtaining
- 00:41:43Innovative education not through
- 00:41:46vicarious study but through experiencing
- 00:41:48and interacting with the real world
- 00:41:53environment a national transportation
- 00:41:55system system would include a network of
- 00:41:57waterways canals and irrigation
- 00:42:02systems they could serve to minimize the
- 00:42:04threat of floods and droughts while
- 00:42:06allowing for the migration of fish
- 00:42:08provide natural fire breaks emergency
- 00:42:10water sources fish farms and Recreation
- 00:42:15areas when we unleash Science and
- 00:42:18Technology directly into the social
- 00:42:21system without the restrictions of the
- 00:42:23marketplace finances or p
- 00:42:26we could achieve a very high standard of
- 00:42:29living within a very short period of
- 00:42:31time this society would continuously
- 00:42:34improve changing rapidly through new
- 00:42:37technologies inventions and ideas it
- 00:42:41would be an emergent Society rather than
- 00:42:43an established one like we have
- 00:42:49today imagine living in an extraordinary
- 00:42:52Oceanic City helping to restore the
- 00:42:55ocean environment while eliminating
- 00:42:56land-based population
- 00:43:03pressures these cities in the sea may
- 00:43:06serve as universities and research
- 00:43:08centers where students study Marine
- 00:43:13Sciences they could be used for ocean
- 00:43:16farming mariculture and Mining while
- 00:43:19maintaining a dynamic balance in the
- 00:43:21oceanographic
- 00:43:24environment self-sufficient IES in the
- 00:43:26sea vary in design depending on their
- 00:43:29location and
- 00:43:32function this unders sea observation
- 00:43:34station permits people to view marine
- 00:43:36life in its natural
- 00:43:40habitat these mariculture and sea
- 00:43:42farming systems cultivate and raise fish
- 00:43:45along with other forms of marine life to
- 00:43:47help meet the nutritional needs of the
- 00:43:49world's
- 00:43:51people these structures would permit the
- 00:43:53free flow of water throughout
- 00:43:59using technology in this way would make
- 00:44:01it possible for a global Society to
- 00:44:03achieve social advancement and worldwide
- 00:44:06reconstruction in the shortest time
- 00:44:10possible Utopia if is ever established
- 00:44:13will
- 00:44:14die will stagnate whereas what I'm
- 00:44:17talking about an evolving culture or an
- 00:44:21emerging culture I have no Notions of a
- 00:44:24perfect Society I don't know what that
- 00:44:26means I know we can do much better than
- 00:44:28what we've got I'm no utopian I'm not a
- 00:44:32a humanist who would like to see
- 00:44:33everybody living in warmth and Harmony I
- 00:44:36know that if we don't live that way
- 00:44:37we'll kill each other and destroy the
- 00:44:40Earth this new lifestyle while providing
- 00:44:43Leisure and Recreation would also
- 00:44:45enhance knowledge and creativity for
- 00:44:48everyone the measure of success would be
- 00:44:50the Fulfillment of one's personal
- 00:44:52interest rather than the acquisition of
- 00:44:55wealth and self-centered
- 00:44:58goals a resource-based economy would not
- 00:45:01only change our environment to make it
- 00:45:03clean efficient and enjoyable but it
- 00:45:06would introduce a new value system
- 00:45:09appropriate to the direction and aims of
- 00:45:10the new Innovative
- 00:45:13approach with education and resources
- 00:45:15made available there would be no limit
- 00:45:17to the human
- 00:45:19potential everyone will have the freedom
- 00:45:21to pursue whatever constructive field of
- 00:45:23endeavor he or she chooses without the
- 00:45:26economic limitations that we face
- 00:45:29[Music]
- 00:45:32today we are now at a time when
- 00:45:35decisions must be made if we wish to
- 00:45:37evolve from our present culture of
- 00:45:40scarcity waste and environmental
- 00:45:44destruction to a sustainable Society of
- 00:45:48ecological concern and
- 00:45:51abundance a nation without a vision of
- 00:45:54what the future can be is better bound
- 00:45:56to repeat past errors
- 00:45:59over and over
- 00:46:03again if we say dishonestly that man is
- 00:46:07the highest form of evolution which you
- 00:46:10get in the school man destroys the
- 00:46:12oceans the fish the atmosphere one
- 00:46:15another and man flies over a city
- 00:46:18presses a button and burns everybody in
- 00:46:21the city with nuclear weapons is he the
- 00:46:23highest creation of nature not yet in my
- 00:46:27opinion we've got a long way to go we
- 00:46:30could either develop Paradise on Earth
- 00:46:32or Oblivion wipe ourselves out only the
- 00:46:36future will tell what you do to make the
- 00:46:42future we can create a world where war
- 00:46:45and want are Distant
- 00:46:48Memories when all of Science and
- 00:46:50Technology are used within a global
- 00:46:53resource-based economy for the
- 00:46:56protection of the environment and the
- 00:46:58well-being of
- 00:46:59all only then will we understand what it
- 00:47:03means to be
- 00:47:05truly
- 00:47:15civilized be a part of the growing
- 00:47:17community of people working toward
- 00:47:19making the aims of the Venus Project a
- 00:47:22reality join us in our efforts to bring
- 00:47:24this vision of a positive future to a
- 00:47:26wider audience through the goal of a
- 00:47:28major motion
- 00:47:31picture all of these things can be built
- 00:47:33with what we know today it would take 10
- 00:47:36years to change the surface of the Earth
- 00:47:38to rebuild the world into a second
- 00:47:40Garden of Eden the choice lies with you
- 00:47:42the stupidity of a nuclear arms race the
- 00:47:45development of weapons trying to solve
- 00:47:47your problems politically by electing
- 00:47:49this political party or that political
- 00:47:51party that all politics is immersed in
- 00:47:54corruption let me say it again communism
- 00:47:56socialism fascism the Democrats the
- 00:47:59Liberals there are no negro problems or
- 00:48:02polish problems or Jewish problems or
- 00:48:04Greek problems or women's problems
- 00:48:06they're human
- 00:48:10problems
