00:00:00
I am genuinely very concerned about the
00:00:02
state of things in the UK at the moment
00:00:03
police arrested two parents because of
00:00:07
comments they made in a private WhatsApp
00:00:10
group about their school because they
00:00:13
had concerns about the school they were
00:00:14
raising the I mean whatever regardless
00:00:17
of what they were saying in this private
00:00:18
group should have remained private and
00:00:20
quite frankly whoever it was that
00:00:22
reported it could be liable for breach
00:00:24
of confidence but we'll talk about that
00:00:25
in this video and also Kia st's raging
00:00:29
success of releasing prisoners early and
00:00:31
what's happened with that more about
00:00:33
that in the second half of the video so
00:00:34
pleas please do stick around we're here
00:00:36
on black belt secrets so please do
00:00:38
subscribe you get my free flowing
00:00:39
thoughts here but also I even I feel the
00:00:43
need to caveat what I'm saying here and
00:00:46
that is to say that this is legal
00:00:49
commentary opinion piece and based on
00:00:52
the public interest and I feel that this
00:00:55
is Justified to talk about and I feel
00:00:57
the need to say that these days because
00:00:59
of the story that I'm going to tell you
00:01:00
here this is quite horrendous now the
00:01:03
the long story of it short is that they
00:01:06
decided the police decided there was no
00:01:08
further action because there wasn't
00:01:10
enough evidence but then why arrest them
00:01:11
in the first place they arrested them
00:01:13
because of reports that were made based
00:01:16
on accusations by the school without any
00:01:19
real credible evidence now I don't know
00:01:21
what the school provided to the police
00:01:23
but the police ultimately said there was
00:01:24
not no evidence to support these
00:01:27
accusations of these crimes but let's
00:01:29
talk about this story here because I I
00:01:31
will link a video of a great interview
00:01:34
by times radio with the chap involved in
00:01:36
this and it's this one here I'll link
00:01:38
this below watch it in full I'm not
00:01:40
going to play it in full although um
00:01:42
there'd be an argument about copyright
00:01:43
and so on but I prefer to respect the
00:01:45
copyright and the hard work of times
00:01:46
radio you can go and watch it yourself
00:01:48
but suffice to say six police officers
00:01:52
arrived unannounced at this guy's house
00:01:54
arrested both parents in front of their
00:01:56
three-year-old daughter who I understand
00:01:58
has um uh certain needs as well um and
00:02:02
he was on a zoom call at the time and he
00:02:05
saw this little um image pop up the
00:02:07
police behind him arresting his partner
00:02:09
and then they arrested him and they kept
00:02:11
them in custody for 12 hours they
00:02:14
alleged allegations of harassment and
00:02:17
malicious Communications now those are
00:02:21
they're quite horrific offenses to be
00:02:24
accused of you can go to prison for
00:02:26
those this is the police caught on on
00:02:28
camera here however many police three
00:02:30
police cars you can see at the back on
00:02:32
the and including a van on the left hand
00:02:33
side over there and at least four police
00:02:36
officers in shot here five if you
00:02:38
include this shot here and this honestly
00:02:42
looks completely ridiculous I have to
00:02:45
say my genuine honest opinion of all of
00:02:48
this as not just as a barrister but as
00:02:52
an individual citizen of this country a
00:02:54
country that Champions free speech and
00:02:56
we should be able to say things uh
00:02:58
without this sort of threat of having
00:03:00
police turn up and and drag you away
00:03:02
under arrest we should have the freedom
00:03:05
to say these things that we want and
00:03:08
unless it is grossly offensive and
00:03:13
oppressive to a point that a a person of
00:03:15
a reasonable fness should not be
00:03:17
expected to Bear such comments it has
00:03:19
been held in court that we should have
00:03:22
the freedom to say these things that we
00:03:24
wish now the this chap doesn't even know
00:03:28
yet what it is
00:03:30
that they're accused of doing and saying
00:03:32
and sharing and and what is supposed to
00:03:34
be harassment and such
00:03:36
like but uh the School threatened
00:03:40
initially to ban them from the school if
00:03:43
they uh didn't stop making comments or
00:03:45
contact in the school and so on and then
00:03:46
did ban him from the school obviously
00:03:49
having serious repercussions on on their
00:03:51
daughter this was a copy of the letter
00:03:53
again I caveat this is public interest
00:03:56
it is a matter of public interest so I'm
00:03:59
going to share this and look at this
00:04:01
section here the school said I would
00:04:03
like to remind all parents that the
00:04:04
school will take action where comments
00:04:06
are aimed at individuals within the
00:04:07
school Community or as a result cause
00:04:09
disharmony within the school or distress
00:04:11
to members of the school Community now
00:04:14
they go on to say you know make your
00:04:15
complaints in the the proper way using
00:04:17
the proper complaints procedure which is
00:04:18
perfectly fine Etc however if parents
00:04:22
are in a private WhatsApp group and they
00:04:24
want to air their frustrations within
00:04:26
that private group that is absolutely
00:04:28
their prerogative to do so
00:04:30
even if comments that they make are
00:04:32
somewhat disparaging and whatever in a
00:04:34
word tough because that there's no law
00:04:38
against airing your views unless they
00:04:43
cross a threshold a criminal threshold
00:04:45
which on the face of it these didn't and
00:04:48
in a moment I'll give you one or two
00:04:49
examples don't go away stepping aside
00:04:51
for a bit of trivia and something that
00:04:52
will help you with a huge dose of irony
00:04:54
I'll explain that in a minute um a lot
00:04:56
of people have asked me why and how I
00:04:58
blur out images on websites that I show
00:05:01
you when many other YouTube creators
00:05:02
don't do that well the simple reason is
00:05:05
copyright and that comes with a few
00:05:07
quirks so allow me to explain so if I
00:05:09
take the express by way of example
00:05:11
forgive me Express but you're the first
00:05:13
one I thought of maybe that's a good
00:05:14
thing for them so if you take this as an
00:05:16
example you'll see there's one image
00:05:17
I've already blurred out here using a
00:05:19
tool built into uh well an extension for
00:05:21
Chrome that's a Getty image's image and
00:05:24
the reason I've blurred it out is
00:05:26
because if I were running an article
00:05:27
like the express here and use their
00:05:30
license accreditation etc for the image
00:05:32
that's fine because it's purely
00:05:33
editorial as soon as I put that into a
00:05:36
video and it's monetized on YouTube then
00:05:39
obviously that then crosses the
00:05:40
territory potentially to be commercial
00:05:42
and they don't allow it so they could
00:05:44
very easily raise a copyright complaint
00:05:46
and tag my video so um with the others
00:05:49
here I'm perfectly fine because they're
00:05:51
adverts and I'm sure they'll be happy
00:05:52
that the adverts are being shown for
00:05:53
free for example Tesco at the top there
00:05:55
they are adverts and so I use a tool to
00:05:57
blow those out so that's how and why so
00:06:00
how does this help you and why am I
00:06:02
talking to you about this well aside
00:06:03
from needing to remove some of those
00:06:04
images you can also see just how
00:06:06
cluttered this article is here um if we
00:06:09
look at the bit that we can actually
00:06:10
read we've got the headline here we've
00:06:12
got the subheadline here and then we've
00:06:14
got the author information and that's it
00:06:17
you can't see any of the article on this
00:06:19
page apart from that you have to scroll
00:06:20
down and then you start to get some of
00:06:22
the article but even then you've only
00:06:23
got that much of the article and the
00:06:25
rest is still adverts so Q ironically an
00:06:29
advert uh which is nordvpn because if
00:06:33
you use nordvpn it will get rid of all
00:06:35
these adverts many of you don't know
00:06:36
this but you can see this this is my
00:06:37
nordvpn box here you can see it's not
00:06:39
connected there if I now click quick
00:06:41
connect it will automatically connect
00:06:44
connect me to the closest server which
00:06:45
is in the UK now I'm connected now I
00:06:47
move that aside and if I now refresh
00:06:49
that page there you'll see just how much
00:06:51
cleaner it is without all of those
00:06:53
adverts of course I've still blurred
00:06:55
that Getty Images in the middle because
00:06:57
it's a Getty image now you can see now
00:07:00
that all those adverts have disappeared
00:07:02
it's a lot cleaner and easier to read
00:07:04
apart from one or two of the adverts
00:07:05
that still remain but that is a
00:07:07
fantastic feature of nordvpn that many
00:07:09
people don't realize but what is a VPN
00:07:11
in the first place a VPN is a virtual
00:07:14
private Network so think of your
00:07:16
computer connecting to your Wi-Fi and
00:07:18
your internet service provider you get
00:07:20
an IP address from them and all of your
00:07:22
internet traffic goes through that IP
00:07:24
address it's just like a house address
00:07:26
but for your computer and your internet
00:07:28
service provider can see all of the
00:07:30
information and all the websites and
00:07:31
everything that you visit everything you
00:07:33
download they can monitor everything you
00:07:35
do but when you connect to nordvpn it is
00:07:38
a virtual Network it goes through one of
00:07:40
their IP addresses then all of your
00:07:42
traffic is anonymized and all of your
00:07:44
traffic is encrypted so going through a
00:07:45
VPN protects your privacy online and not
00:07:48
only that it will flag up any malicious
00:07:50
websites malicious downloads and protect
00:07:52
you and your machine from accessing
00:07:54
dangerous websites dangerous files and
00:07:56
prevent them before they cause damage to
00:07:58
your system it's available for your
00:07:59
devices your laptops your tablets your
00:08:01
phones and out and about particularly
00:08:03
coffee shops where you might be
00:08:05
connecting to unsafe networks for
00:08:07
example if you're abroad and you want to
00:08:08
access your banking app without all of
00:08:10
the problems of the bank thinking you're
00:08:11
somewhere else you can go through the
00:08:12
VPN change your location to the UK and
00:08:15
that should absolutely be fine and as
00:08:17
they're a partner to my channel if you
00:08:18
use my link nordvpn.com sblack belt
00:08:21
Secrets you'll get 4 months extra free
00:08:23
on top of any deal they're running as
00:08:25
well as the 30-day money back guarantee
00:08:27
but once you see the security provides
00:08:29
your system and encrypted and anonymized
00:08:31
traffic it'll be peace of mind and you
00:08:33
won't change your mind so don't forget
00:08:35
the link it's nordvpn.com belt Secrets
00:08:38
it's in the description below and that
00:08:39
will get you 4 months extra free and
00:08:41
thank you to Nord for sponsoring this
00:08:42
video for example and they give examples
00:08:45
because they don't know exactly what it
00:08:46
is they're accused of doing and saying
00:08:49
uh this one message from Rosalind the
00:08:51
lady in this story says yes the person
00:08:54
involved manipulates people into
00:08:56
thinking that she's their buddy then spy
00:08:58
for her she's a control friend freak she
00:08:59
said now this is just airing your
00:09:01
opinions any such things like these are
00:09:04
airing your opinions and if there wasn't
00:09:06
enough irony in the story already this
00:09:10
message takes the biscuit she then said
00:09:12
can you imagine what the action is that
00:09:15
the school say they'll take hello 999
00:09:18
one of the school moms said something
00:09:19
mean about me in a school mom WhatsApp
00:09:21
group please can you arrest them and
00:09:25
that sounds absolutely ridiculous does
00:09:27
it not and yet that is exactly what
00:09:30
happened so we are in a time at the
00:09:32
moment where police are turning up and
00:09:35
arresting people and there's a backstory
00:09:36
to all this and that is that the the
00:09:38
head teacher was retiring and there was
00:09:39
an immediate appointment of a deputy
00:09:41
without advertising the job the school
00:09:43
then said they were going to solicit
00:09:44
assistance from outside to do this
00:09:46
professionally and so on and um I have
00:09:49
to include for completeness uh that
00:09:52
there is I'll bring it on screen that
00:09:54
there is a uh statement from the police
00:09:57
on this story they say following reports
00:10:00
of harassment and malicious
00:10:01
Communications which are criminal
00:10:02
offenses a man and a woman uh were both
00:10:05
aged in their 40s were arrested on
00:10:07
Wednesday the arrests were necessary to
00:10:09
fully investigate the allegations as his
00:10:11
routine in these types of matters
00:10:13
following further investigations
00:10:14
officers deem that no further action
00:10:16
should be taken due to insufficient
00:10:18
evidence now with the greatest respect
00:10:20
to the police here if there was
00:10:23
insufficient
00:10:24
evidence so far then why arrest them in
00:10:28
the first place I can only assume and
00:10:30
make a leap of logic here that they were
00:10:32
hoping that in those interviews they
00:10:35
would admit to harassment or malicious
00:10:37
Communications and that would be the
00:10:39
evidence that they would need because
00:10:40
don't forget evidence can come from the
00:10:43
alleged uh perpetrator at the same time
00:10:47
so that could be evidence that they
00:10:49
could use against them so if they've
00:10:51
said something in an interview which
00:10:53
could amount to an admission and a
00:10:55
confession because don't forget a
00:10:57
confession is not just yes fair cop I
00:10:59
did it a confession is any statement
00:11:02
written or otherwise which could be
00:11:04
verbal could be um a gesture could be a
00:11:07
diagram could be anything of the sort
00:11:09
any statement which is adverse to or
00:11:13
even partially adverse to the maker of
00:11:15
that statement so if you said for
00:11:18
argument sake they deserved it that is a
00:11:21
sort of confession because you're saying
00:11:24
something that is adverse to you and if
00:11:26
you are accused of harassment and you
00:11:30
say something that hints that you agree
00:11:32
that you were doing that but obviously
00:11:35
don't outright admit it but whatever you
00:11:37
say is adverse to you the maker of the
00:11:39
statement that is a form of confession
00:11:41
that might be sufficient evidence and
00:11:43
this is why I stressed ladies and
00:11:45
gentlemen that you do not speak to the
00:11:47
police unless you've had the benefit of
00:11:50
legal advice and you should be advised
00:11:52
that you have the benefit of legal
00:11:53
advice and that has also changed um in
00:11:56
in the pace codes Pace code C where if
00:11:59
you you are interviewed or questioned
00:12:00
outside of the police station it used to
00:12:02
be a bit of a loophole that they would
00:12:03
use to um get around the providing you
00:12:06
the free access to legal advice and so
00:12:07
on that was changed so now the practice
00:12:09
is they're supposed to do it at a police
00:12:11
station or if in outside the police
00:12:13
station they to remind you that you have
00:12:14
access to that advice but I'll link the
00:12:16
full story below and you can go and
00:12:17
listen to it absolutely horrendous
00:12:19
absolutely ridiculous and um for that
00:12:22
reason uh I encourage people to be a
00:12:24
member of uh Free Speech Union not a
00:12:26
sponsored video by Free Speech Union
00:12:28
they've not asked me to that I think
00:12:29
that is uh uh money well worth spent in
00:12:32
case you ever get because I'm sure these
00:12:36
uh parents did not expect to be arrested
00:12:38
by the police okay Second Story of the
00:12:40
day early release of prisoners and what
00:12:42
effect did this have well I don't think
00:12:45
anyone will be surprised to hear that
00:12:47
some prisoners that have been released
00:12:49
early on this early release scheme let's
00:12:51
just remind you that this early release
00:12:52
scheme was designed to free up some
00:12:54
prison space because they were
00:12:56
imprisoning so many people because of
00:12:57
the violent disorder and they needed
00:13:00
extra prison space so therefore they
00:13:03
decided that certain prisoners that had
00:13:05
served a certain proportion of their
00:13:06
sentence barring the most serious
00:13:08
offenders would be released early well
00:13:11
again no surprise that some of those
00:13:13
have gone on to reoffend and not only
00:13:15
that um the BBC reports today that this
00:13:19
prisoner that was released
00:13:21
early killed somebody on the first day
00:13:24
he was released the BBC reports a Man
00:13:27
convicted over a fatal knife attack had
00:13:29
been let out of prison on the same day
00:13:32
of the government early release scheme
00:13:34
leam Matthews who was found guilty of
00:13:37
manslaughter had been released from hmp
00:13:41
home house that morning he was convicted
00:13:43
at teaside Crown Court alongside two
00:13:45
others and now found guilty of murder
00:13:47
anj spokesperson said that they vowed to
00:13:50
investigate this case fully but said the
00:13:52
government had been left with no choice
00:13:53
but to introduce an emergency early
00:13:55
release program I respectfully disagree
00:13:57
and suggest that there could be a number
00:13:59
of alternatives for example there are
00:14:01
thousands of illegal migrants currently
00:14:03
in prison in the UK right now each of
00:14:06
whom could be deported to free up those
00:14:08
spaces because to put it bluntly they
00:14:10
shouldn't have been here in the first
00:14:11
place and so if they are here and
00:14:14
committed a criminal offense here um
00:14:16
there is strong argument to say that
00:14:18
they should just be deported and not

taking up prison space that if they are
00:14:22
running out of prison space that is
00:14:23
certainly one way of freeing up this
00:14:25
space but this Chap's early release came
00:14:28
in the first month of uh these emergency
00:14:31
measures to free up space for
00:14:33
overcrowding and of course now he's
00:14:35
going to be hauled back to prison
00:14:36
regardless but those are just two
00:14:38
stories for today there are yet further
00:14:40
embarrassing stories of this
00:14:41
government's failure one of which at
00:14:43
least one of which on money I will put
00:14:45
that on my money Channel linked below

please do hop over and subscribe there
00:14:49
as well but as I say be careful what you
00:14:51
say and if you say something just be
00:14:54
mindful that you might have to answer to
00:14:56
it at some point and it's it's really a
00:14:59
sad State of Affairs that we have police
00:15:00
arresting people for things that you've
00:15:02
said in a private group now join Free
00:15:05
Speech Union and uh stand up for your
00:15:07
rights for free speech and don't let
00:15:09
these things go quietly if you approach
00:15:11
the media with these things we have a
00:15:13
free press they can print the story they
00:15:16
will probably be supportive because they
00:15:18
want to sell their papers Etc but with
00:15:20
that thank you for watching please do
00:15:22
subscribe to the channel and I'll see
00:15:23
