- 00:00:00hey guys for this week's compilation we
- 00:00:02got the best teams for radical red I've
- 00:00:04made over the years the earlier team
- 00:00:06should still be pretty up to date with
- 00:00:08radical Red's most current version as
- 00:00:10usual there will be time stamps in the
- 00:00:11description below for which team you
- 00:00:13want to use I'll also be back to new
- 00:00:15content again the first week of January
- 00:00:17so until then I hope you guys enjoyed
- 00:00:19this compilation and I hope you guys
- 00:00:21have a happy New Year with this radical
- 00:00:23red update is the ability to choose your
- 00:00:25starter among any starter Pokémon
- 00:00:27besides Pikachu and Eevee that's ever
- 00:00:29existed any starter from Kanto through
- 00:00:31the heui region is fair game for our
- 00:00:33first score here so I had a really tough
- 00:00:36decision among our 27 starter choices I
- 00:00:39ultimately decided I had to at least
- 00:00:41pursue a grass type since it gave the
- 00:00:44strongest start against Brock and Misty
- 00:00:46this is important because if I want to
- 00:00:48add any other starters to my team down
- 00:00:50the line I can obtain them in Celadon
- 00:00:53which I'll have access to before even
- 00:00:55defeating Serge as for the grass starter
- 00:00:57I decided to obtain though I ultim itely
- 00:01:00decided I'll be using Meganium now I
- 00:01:03know a lot of you already rolled your
- 00:01:05eyes and are mashing away at the
- 00:01:07comments talking about how terrible
- 00:01:09Meganium is but in radical red this
- 00:01:12Pokemon's actually legendary Meganium
- 00:01:14got a couple of massive Buffs in this
- 00:01:16game such as the fairy typing and the
- 00:01:18ability triage triage allows Meganium to
- 00:01:21gain priority when using synthesis Giga
- 00:01:24drain and draining kiss which is
- 00:01:26actually amazing when it comes to
- 00:01:28ensuring Meganium is healthy and enough
- 00:01:30to take hits from other Pokémon this
- 00:01:32speed stat doesn't matter when your
- 00:01:33primary attacks all have priority
- 00:01:35Meganium greatest uses came against
- 00:01:38battles such as Brock Giovani CLA and
- 00:01:41Lance to name a few the special defense
- 00:01:43investment is insanely useful when
- 00:01:46taking on a majority of these battles as
- 00:01:48the strongest physical attacks you take
- 00:01:50from these would either be earthquake
- 00:01:52from Pokemon such as giovan's Garchomp
- 00:01:54or moves such as fish is Ren in Bolt
- 00:01:57Beak from CLA and Lance otherwise you're
- 00:02:00taking typically special moves with the
- 00:02:02exception of misti's Frogadier which
- 00:02:04Meganium isn't really meant to handle
- 00:02:06anyway moving on to vidiian City we
- 00:02:09actually have two encounters with the
- 00:02:11first one being MIP obtaining this gives
- 00:02:14us one of two Pokemon that are truly
- 00:02:16able to handle Falconer due to the
- 00:02:18removal of the early vidiian City
- 00:02:20chincha even if chincha were still
- 00:02:22present this early though I think aost
- 00:02:25will be better suited to handle later
- 00:02:26opponents this is one of the few games I
- 00:02:29Tru say having an electric type feels
- 00:02:32essential Because unless you want to
- 00:02:34spend ages resetting your peter City egg
- 00:02:36until it's a non-electric type you
- 00:02:38absolutely will need one if you want to
- 00:02:40even get the chance to take on your
- 00:02:42first badge Aeros is meant to just be a
- 00:02:45backup specially defensive sponge for
- 00:02:47this team also being your team's primary
- 00:02:50pivot aneros has a few things going for
- 00:02:52at this gen such as the Mega Evolution
- 00:02:54you can get after a few badges Mega
- 00:02:57Aeros in this game has the ability thick
- 00:02:59fat and instead of mold breaker which is
- 00:03:01fairly useful when handling later game
- 00:03:03opponents with strong fire type Pokemon
- 00:03:05Aeros also has access to tail glow in
- 00:03:08these games but ultimately I decided
- 00:03:10hidden power was probably a better fit
- 00:03:12overall in an effort to help against ice
- 00:03:15types if push came the shove Aeros was
- 00:03:17essential in a wide variety of battles
- 00:03:19for this team though such as Falconer
- 00:03:22Misty Blaine and a majority of battles
- 00:03:25against Brendan or blue Aeros was
- 00:03:27typically utilized to handle water or
- 00:03:29flying t on these teams however against
- 00:03:32Blain it was actually extremely useful
- 00:03:34at Walling a few of Blaine's sweepers
- 00:03:36due to the fact that he uses a sun team
- 00:03:38overall I couldn't imagine completing
- 00:03:41this run without Mega Aeros or even my
- 00:03:44first badge our third Pokemon is our
- 00:03:47other vidiian City encounter being
- 00:03:49Sandile crocodile will be a key player
- 00:03:52in a lot of the later portions of the
- 00:03:54game and making sure we catch one with
- 00:03:56intimidate will be vital to Our Success
- 00:03:59while you can change abilities fairly
- 00:04:01easily in the later portions of the game
- 00:04:03intimidate is necessary for Brock and
- 00:04:05Falconer so we can't actually just wait
- 00:04:08until we unlock the method for changing
- 00:04:10abilities crocodile will provide this
- 00:04:12team with a couple of key immunities to
- 00:04:14electric and psychic as well as a strong
- 00:04:17offensive typing and a phenomenal Choice
- 00:04:19scarp user one of the biggest reasons
- 00:04:21crocodile is your best choice of a dark
- 00:04:24type in these games is due to the
- 00:04:25addition of wicked blow you might
- 00:04:28recognize this from your nightmares
- 00:04:29playing aisle of armor OU as it's to
- 00:04:32move U single utilized in order to
- 00:04:34destroy every Pokemon with a pulse
- 00:04:37Wicked blow allows crocodile a far
- 00:04:40stronger dark move than knockoff which
- 00:04:42is amazing for choice scarf sets where
- 00:04:44you'll be using the same move turn after
- 00:04:46turn in tandem with earthquake and the
- 00:04:48ability intimidate to weak your
- 00:04:50opponent's physical offense crocodile is
- 00:04:52insanely difficult to switch around
- 00:04:54these games unless you have a Pokemon
- 00:04:56such as Togekiss just in case though
- 00:04:58rock slide is a great addition to this
- 00:05:00move set for Pokémon that otherwise have
- 00:05:02the immunity to earthquake I figured
- 00:05:04stealth rocks would be a strong option
- 00:05:06in our last move slot which is mostly to
- 00:05:08handle teams such as Blaine more easily
- 00:05:11due to Blaine utilizing a mega Charizard
- 00:05:13Y speaking of Blaine this is one of the
- 00:05:15many battles crocodile was extremely
- 00:05:18vital in defeating with some others
- 00:05:20including Brock Serge Sabrina Koga most
- 00:05:24Brendan fights and Agatha crocodile in
- 00:05:27my eyes is truly an irre placeable
- 00:05:30Pokémon and while there's probably
- 00:05:32better ground types the roll compression
- 00:05:34crocodile provided in this game when
- 00:05:36only using the same six Pokémon truly is
- 00:05:39invaluable these first three Pokémon
- 00:05:41will honestly be essential to your early
- 00:05:44game with our next Pokémon not coming
- 00:05:46until you get the Celadon City
- 00:05:48thankfully you only need to beat the SSN
- 00:05:50to unlock access to cut and Breeze
- 00:05:52through all the way to Celadon while I
- 00:05:54know some people may not like skipping
- 00:05:57ahead the Celadon doing so unlocks a lot
- 00:05:59for you such as the IV EV inability
- 00:06:03modifiers in Saffron as well as more
- 00:06:05importantly our next encounter I
- 00:06:07mentioned early on there were other ways
- 00:06:09to access the starters and if you have a
- 00:06:12red shard you can try your hand at
- 00:06:14obtaining a fire starter in Celadon the
- 00:06:16starter we'll be going for today is none
- 00:06:18other than Del Fox while Del Fox isn't
- 00:06:21as gamebreaking for the Elite 4 as it
- 00:06:24once was it's still a vital piece to
- 00:06:26this team one of the reasons players
- 00:06:28sought after Del Fox previously was due
- 00:06:31to Magic Guard plus mind blown which
- 00:06:33allowed you to Breeze through most
- 00:06:35pokemon in the late game that didn't
- 00:06:37resist your attack in Tandon with moves
- 00:06:39like cind Del Fox is one of the
- 00:06:41strongest mods you could use at this
- 00:06:43point in the game even with mind blown
- 00:06:45now being a level 100 move delx is still
- 00:06:48vital to a lot of matches for us it's
- 00:06:50able to handle some key fights such as
- 00:06:52Erica Giovani most rival fights Koga
- 00:06:56Price Chuck and is extremely used ful
- 00:06:59against laurelai if she brings hail
- 00:07:02speaking of laurelai you might notice
- 00:07:04this move set feels a bit unoptimal
- 00:07:06trick room protect overheat and psychic
- 00:07:09is a weird combination and running Focus
- 00:07:12sash instead of Life orb feels like a
- 00:07:14disservice to delx the short answer is
- 00:07:17blame laurelai but I'll get into this
- 00:07:19battle specifically later in the video
- 00:07:22as it was probably harder than every
- 00:07:24other match combined in my opinion if
- 00:07:27you get Lura Li's rain team you can
- 00:07:29probably just run toxic over trick room
- 00:07:32or protect which will be more useful for
- 00:07:34Pokémon such as Yveltal on the Champions
- 00:07:37team as well as most dragons I would
- 00:07:39still recommend the focus sash as
- 00:07:41without mind blown I actually think
- 00:07:43delox having an immunity to indirect
- 00:07:46damage helps it guarantee an attack or
- 00:07:48two in dire situations moving on to our
- 00:07:51next Pokemon we will obtain this shortly
- 00:07:54after defeating Erica in the game corner
- 00:07:56you can buy a plethora of strong Pokémon
- 00:07:59mostly being pseudo legendaries I
- 00:08:01actually opted to pick up none of the
- 00:08:03pseudos though and instead got our team
- 00:08:06still type being AIS slash and yes
- 00:08:09before anyone asks I did pay the extra
- 00:08:1110,000 to make sure it was shiny this
- 00:08:14wouldn't be the best team if I didn't
- 00:08:16use one of the best Shiny Pokemon AIS
- 00:08:19slash provided us with a lot of
- 00:08:20essential pieces such as a strong
- 00:08:22response to trick room as well as an
- 00:08:24amazing wall against lur lias hail team
- 00:08:27AIS slash is one of the most adaptable
- 00:08:29Pokémon in terms of its roles that you
- 00:08:31can perform with it but I ultimately
- 00:08:33decided in this case the straightforward
- 00:08:36move set was best I decided King shield
- 00:08:39gyro ball Shadow claw and Shadow sneak
- 00:08:41was my best choice I made sure AIS slash
- 00:08:44had a zero Speed IV as this was useful
- 00:08:47to make the most out of my damage output
- 00:08:49with this Pokemon the addition of iron
- 00:08:51ball was also extremely valuable as when
- 00:08:54handling Pokémon such as Laura Li karox
- 00:08:56ice you'll want to ensure you're as slow
- 00:08:59as POS possible AIS slash has some of
- 00:09:01the strongest matchups of any Pokemon in
- 00:09:03the game you can utilize it against your
- 00:09:05rival fights Giovani Sabrina price
- 00:09:09Archer and Ariana laurelai Agatha and
- 00:09:12Drake I couldn't actually imagine this
- 00:09:15run with any other Steel type as most
- 00:09:18would only be able to handle a fraction
- 00:09:20of these battles the only steel that
- 00:09:22even hold a candle would be something
- 00:09:24like a soul goo which you can actually
- 00:09:27get due to the rare chance of obtaining
- 00:09:29C mug and your peter City egg but as I
- 00:09:31said above I wanted to avoid legendaries
- 00:09:35the fact it takes such a monster of a
- 00:09:37legendary to even begin to compete with
- 00:09:39AIS slash though should speak volumes of
- 00:09:42its capabilities finally we have one of
- 00:09:45the biggest carries to the Elite 4 being
- 00:09:48our water type now I'm sure a lot of you
- 00:09:50are wondering why it took so long for us
- 00:09:53to add a water type to our party isn't
- 00:09:55that usually a type most players pursue
- 00:09:57as early as possible well as far as
- 00:10:00Kanto goes you honestly don't really
- 00:10:02need one until the later portions of
- 00:10:04your journey and barring Blaine Meganium
- 00:10:07plus crook would cover anything most
- 00:10:09water types would anyway as for the
- 00:10:11water type we did end up obtaining
- 00:10:13though we picked none other than slow
- 00:10:15bro slowo can be obtained through
- 00:10:18fishing on the route south of fuchia
- 00:10:19City while in most games you should skip
- 00:10:22ahead to fuchia City similarly to how
- 00:10:24you were able to skip ahead the Celadon
- 00:10:26for Del fox in the newest update you
- 00:10:28actually can't even reach the routes
- 00:10:30that connect to fuchsia until you've
- 00:10:32defeated Sabrina slow bro sadly isn't
- 00:10:34obtainable sooner than this however I'm
- 00:10:37sure this is mostly due to how amazing
- 00:10:39Slowpoke SL slober would be in the
- 00:10:42previous portions of the game as it's
- 00:10:44one of the strongest Pokemon you can
- 00:10:45utilize the slow bro set I ended up
- 00:10:48utilizing was rather odd but this was
- 00:10:50another set I actually had to revise
- 00:10:53completely at the last second due to
- 00:10:55laureli flamethrower was solely added
- 00:10:58because it was a more iMed immediate way
- 00:11:00to handle lury hail team that I ended up
- 00:11:02fighting however it's still useful
- 00:11:04against Pokemon such as Bruno zasan so
- 00:11:07it wasn't at least useless for our other
- 00:11:09matchups I needed iron defense plus body
- 00:11:12press for not only lauraly team but also
- 00:11:15for Lance's team as it's our strongest
- 00:11:17way to put pressure on his Primal Dio
- 00:11:19while Roar of Time can force slobo to
- 00:11:22swap if we set up enough iron defenses
- 00:11:24before Diga comes in we can get it in
- 00:11:27range of most of our other teammates
- 00:11:29mates so the switch out isn't really a
- 00:11:31huge issue here slack off is mostly to
- 00:11:34recover on almost any physically
- 00:11:36offensive Pokemon as we can typically
- 00:11:38take advantage of physical threats to
- 00:11:40set up iron defense in order to sweep
- 00:11:42the opponent this strategy is basically
- 00:11:44a free sweep against battles such as
- 00:11:47Chuck and Bruno as their teams actually
- 00:11:49lack away around Mega slowo oh yeah
- 00:11:52we'll be utilizing slobb bro as another
- 00:11:54mega Pokémon while OS typically Inc
- 00:11:56competitive would need its Mega to hold
- 00:11:58its own in radical red it can still do a
- 00:12:01surprising amount of work without
- 00:12:03becoming a mega and it also doesn't
- 00:12:05really need any other hold items anyway
- 00:12:08so I figured having two megas makes the
- 00:12:10most sense here since in the majority of
- 00:12:12battles slow bro will be the mega we use
- 00:12:15such as against CLA laurelai Bruno and
- 00:12:18Lance now radical red honestly has way
- 00:12:22too many boss fights to truly go over
- 00:12:24all of them in fact there are so many
- 00:12:26optional ones I didn't actually even
- 00:12:28attempt to fight as they Prov to serve
- 00:12:31no use to this team most of the jodo gym
- 00:12:33leads for example I didn't end up
- 00:12:35battling as their rewards offered
- 00:12:37nothing to the team itself however I
- 00:12:39will quickly go over some of the battles
- 00:12:41we did actually attempt and highlight
- 00:12:44where the team may struggle if you use
- 00:12:45this team yourself starting off with our
- 00:12:47rival fights these actually were all
- 00:12:50rather easy of any bosses in this game
- 00:12:52your fights against Brendan in blue are
- 00:12:54actually easier than even random NPCs I
- 00:12:58found the only thing that made these
- 00:13:00fights even almost an issue was the fact
- 00:13:02the level will scale to around where
- 00:13:04your team is leveled but otherwise these
- 00:13:07fights are actually pretty effortless
- 00:13:09May was also easy as well but unlike
- 00:13:11Brendan in blue you actually only fight
- 00:13:14her once right before taking on Blaine's
- 00:13:16gym our next battles come in the form of
- 00:13:19Team Rocket Team Rocket proved to be a
- 00:13:21bit more difficult depending on the
- 00:13:23match with a couple battles in
- 00:13:24particular being actually almost
- 00:13:27difficult while Giovani actually was
- 00:13:29always a pretty easy win Archer and
- 00:13:31Ariana prove to put up a strong fight
- 00:13:34there are two battles in particular
- 00:13:36being your silco and Cerulean cave
- 00:13:38battles that actually will prove
- 00:13:40difficult the self Co battle is a tag
- 00:13:42match so you could only actually even
- 00:13:45use three Pokemon in this fight I found
- 00:13:47the combination of delox as my lead
- 00:13:50alongside Aeros and crocodile to be the
- 00:13:52best set of three for this match while
- 00:13:54crocodile in theory is a strong lead in
- 00:13:57this battle it does Boost gothel's
- 00:13:59damage output so you actually have to KO
- 00:14:02Gothel either the turn you swap
- 00:14:04crocodile in or save it for later on in
- 00:14:06the fight when Mega Houndoom and mega ma
- 00:14:09enter the field as far as the Cerulean
- 00:14:11cave battle this is mostly difficult
- 00:14:13because they each have four Pokemon at
- 00:14:15the level cap while you also are unable
- 00:14:17to heal between these fights I mostly
- 00:14:20decided to focus Mega slobb bro on
- 00:14:22taking out archers Mammoth swine
- 00:14:24crocodile for Mega Houndoom a to slash
- 00:14:26for Durant and finally I used Meganium
- 00:14:28for mimikyu after this Ariana proved to
- 00:14:31be significantly easier since all of my
- 00:14:34Pokémon were still at least usable for
- 00:14:36her battle I'll briefly discuss the
- 00:14:38jotto gym leads as I found the ones I
- 00:14:40attempted to be rather easy however I
- 00:14:42will mention I chose to fight Falconer
- 00:14:44price and Chuck in that order Falconer
- 00:14:47is the only required Johto gym leader
- 00:14:49price I battled because I was hoping I
- 00:14:52would be able to reset for lauraiz rain
- 00:14:54team and I wanted life orb Del Fox for
- 00:14:56the rest of the Elite 4 and when I
- 00:14:58realized IED I was forced to beat my
- 00:15:00first Elite 4run against laureli hail
- 00:15:03team I had to beat Chuck in order to
- 00:15:05obtain the focus sash none of these
- 00:15:07leaders put up a fight especially Chuck
- 00:15:09who got swept by a lead Mega slow bro as
- 00:15:12for the Kanto Gym Leaders most of these
- 00:15:14proved to be rather easy the hardest
- 00:15:16ones of this Bunch were Misty Serge and
- 00:15:19Sabrina Sabrina was mostly difficult due
- 00:15:22to the fact she had a double battle but
- 00:15:24a to slash was a truly pivotal piece in
- 00:15:26winning this match Misty was most ly an
- 00:15:29issue due to the fact we only had three
- 00:15:31Pokémon at this point and Sandile isn't
- 00:15:34exactly useful for anything outside of
- 00:15:36it to intimidate frogged deer as it's
- 00:15:39mostly a physical attacker I was able to
- 00:15:41defeat Misty thanks to bay leaf and
- 00:15:43fluffy though however it was one of the
- 00:15:45more difficult battles for sure finally
- 00:15:47we have none other than Serge Serge is
- 00:15:50typically one of the harder gym leaders
- 00:15:52and trying to defeat Serge with only
- 00:15:53four Pokemon was rather difficult
- 00:15:56thankfully Serge actually made a huge
- 00:15:59display in this fight thanks to Meganium
- 00:16:01having triage I was able to attack
- 00:16:03Serge's alolan Raichu for a plus three
- 00:16:05priority attack on several occasions
- 00:16:08during this battle surge kept using sa
- 00:16:10shock because it thought it guaranteed a
- 00:16:12Koo however because of the recovery from
- 00:16:15draining kiss I was actually able to
- 00:16:17handle alolan Raichu before it swept my
- 00:16:20entire team allowing me to defeat Serge
- 00:16:22with ease before going over my Elite
- 00:16:244run I do want to quickly mention some
- 00:16:27quick portions of this game that are
- 00:16:29rather difficult outside of the boss
- 00:16:31fights the first being the SSN the SSN
- 00:16:34was actually a fairly difficult set of
- 00:16:36fights due to the fact they were forced
- 00:16:38in the double battles and the team only
- 00:16:41had the ability to use three Pokemon
- 00:16:43here I actually had to level my Pokemon
- 00:16:46all the way to the level cap to handle
- 00:16:48these fights and they proved infinitely
- 00:16:50harder than the Brendan fight at the end
- 00:16:52purely because they were doubles in a
- 00:16:54similar vein the infinite weather routes
- 00:16:57on the way to fuchsia were also
- 00:16:59difficult as unlike the SSN these did
- 00:17:02scale to your team's level I recommend
- 00:17:04going left of Celadon through cycling
- 00:17:06Road and Route 18 as the sand plus rain
- 00:17:09routes were infinitely easier than hail
- 00:17:12plus sun was especially since at the
- 00:17:14time this team still lacked to me a slow
- 00:17:17bro finally we have our Elite 4run now I
- 00:17:20can't lie I genuinely felt this was
- 00:17:23somehow some of our easiest boss fights
- 00:17:25in the entire team Bruno was actually
- 00:17:28swept on lead by Mega slobb bro Agatha
- 00:17:31was fairly easy thanks to crocodile and
- 00:17:33Adis slashes a pair and Drake was fodder
- 00:17:36thanks to Mega slobo plus Meganium I
- 00:17:38won't act like the champion fight
- 00:17:40against our rival was another one the
- 00:17:42two mon showcase but even here I felt
- 00:17:45like our six Pokémon were able to
- 00:17:47actually hold their own especially Mega
- 00:17:49slow BR plus adus slash however we do
- 00:17:52have one fight that actually was so
- 00:17:54demanding that it genuinely changes
- 00:17:57several aspects of our team being
- 00:17:59laurelai for a bit of background on the
- 00:18:02Elite 4 and how it works for battles 1
- 00:18:04through 4 you actually have the
- 00:18:06potential to fight two different teams
- 00:18:08with the final champion fight having a
- 00:18:11guaranteed set team While most of these
- 00:18:13fights have very minor differences it
- 00:18:15allows the game to have some variety in
- 00:18:17what you might face which can unless you
- 00:18:20tailor a perfect lead to both teams
- 00:18:22cause issues if you predict incorrectly
- 00:18:25what you'll fight each Elite Four member
- 00:18:27including the champion ALS also comes
- 00:18:29with their own Uber's level Mega
- 00:18:31Evolution and a powerful legendary
- 00:18:33however Laura Li is an exception her two
- 00:18:36teams consist of either hail or rain and
- 00:18:38she's the only Elite Four member whose
- 00:18:41team changes so drastically I was
- 00:18:43certain that you'd be able to actually
- 00:18:45reset for this fight and I built a team
- 00:18:48that initially was meant to defeat her
- 00:18:49rain team as I felt that preparing for
- 00:18:52her rain team left me better suited for
- 00:18:54most other fights in the game however
- 00:18:57until you successfully beat the for once
- 00:18:59you're actually stuck fighting a
- 00:19:01guaranteed battle against either rain or
- 00:19:04Hell without the ability to reset while
- 00:19:07I could have replayed the entire game
- 00:19:09just to play rain I decided I needed to
- 00:19:11overcome this terrible hail matchup if I
- 00:19:14was ever to call this the best team for
- 00:19:16radical red the hail team consisted of
- 00:19:19kerux ice glacon alolan Ninetails Mega
- 00:19:23abam snow aeral and ROM wash glacon and
- 00:19:27mega abam snow now have access to slush
- 00:19:29rush in these games making them
- 00:19:31phenomenal hail sweepers whereas the
- 00:19:34rest of the team is basically meant to
- 00:19:36either function as a breaker or a hail
- 00:19:38Setter I had to spend countless runs
- 00:19:40perfecting this team just for the Lura
- 00:19:43Li hail fight however if you end up
- 00:19:45rolling her rain team instead I
- 00:19:47recommend changing flamethrower on slow
- 00:19:49bro to either toxic psychic or scald and
- 00:19:52switching protect or trick room on Del
- 00:19:55Fox for toxic if you're curious which
- 00:19:57team you'll end up fighting there's a
- 00:19:59guy standing right near the healing
- 00:20:01space in the Elite 4 who will tell you
- 00:20:03which team she is using while I'm unsure
- 00:20:06what he says if you're fighting rain I
- 00:20:08know he will mention she's been seen
- 00:20:10with her glacon if you're fighting
- 00:20:14hail I've now covered multiple best
- 00:20:17teams for Pokemon radical red but
- 00:20:20Pokemon radical red 4.0 has vastly
- 00:20:23change what truly defines the best team
- 00:20:26for these games with generation 9 being
- 00:20:28added into the mix there's now plenty of
- 00:20:31new moves and Pokemon to consider for
- 00:20:33your run and it's honestly gotten
- 00:20:36difficult to even just use six Pokemon
- 00:20:38anymore to beat these games I think
- 00:20:40despite all the hurdles radical red has
- 00:20:43thrown at us with its new update I've
- 00:20:45managed to craft a new best team of six
- 00:20:48Pokemon without using any legendaries or
- 00:20:50even Paradox Pokemon I do need to add
- 00:20:53though I will be adding in a few
- 00:20:55honorable mentions since I definitely
- 00:20:57almost caved and added a Pokémon or two
- 00:21:00just to make some earlier boss fights a
- 00:21:02bit easier when you're low on Pokémon
- 00:21:05with all that out of the way let's find
- 00:21:06out what starter we'll be using this
- 00:21:08time around also if you're into hardcore
- 00:21:10nuzlock check out my heart gold
- 00:21:12randomizer hardcore Nuzlocke over on
- 00:21:14Miss magius I will leave that in the
- 00:21:16description below last time we played
- 00:21:19through a radical red Adventure we
- 00:21:20started off with the often overlooked
- 00:21:22Johto starter Chikorita while anyone
- 00:21:25unfamiliar with radical red might think
- 00:21:28this was done to make my run
- 00:21:29exponentially harder in radical red
- 00:21:32Meganium has a few Buffs with the new
- 00:21:34secondary typing of fery and a new
- 00:21:36hidden ability triage which makes
- 00:21:39Meganium one of the best grass types in
- 00:21:41the game Meganium also gave us one of
- 00:21:44the few viable fairy types in these
- 00:21:46games and arguably the only viable one
- 00:21:49outside of maybe Mega ma if we ban
- 00:21:51legendaries but what if I told you we
- 00:21:54now have access to an even stronger
- 00:21:56grass type starter than Meganium while
- 00:21:58Dum still offers plenty to our team
- 00:22:01there's one single grass type with so
- 00:22:04much offensive potential that it's able
- 00:22:06to Breeze past most trainers with its
- 00:22:08countless stab options the starter I
- 00:22:11ended up choosing for our run actually
- 00:22:13ended up being one of our new generation
- 00:22:159 Pokémon spatio spatio offers a lot to
- 00:22:19our team with the first major thing
- 00:22:21being your speed with a high speed stat
- 00:22:24of 123 meow Scara will be an absolutely
- 00:22:28insane offensive Pokémon to start with
- 00:22:30on our team I know the last team we used
- 00:22:33didn't feature many fast Pokémon with
- 00:22:36our fastest being Del Fox but we had
- 00:22:38multiple priority users to balance that
- 00:22:40out mecado will also still give us some
- 00:22:43strong priority in the form of Sucker
- 00:22:45Punch meow skara also uses its hidden
- 00:22:48ability protein to take advantage of its
- 00:22:50wide move pull and gains stab for moves
- 00:22:53like low kick triple axle U-turn play
- 00:22:56Ruff and many others the biggest benefit
- 00:22:58though would be its signature move
- 00:23:00flower trick which is a base 70 grass
- 00:23:03type move with a 100% chance to crit the
- 00:23:05opponent unless they have an ability
- 00:23:07like shell armor this helps meow Scara
- 00:23:10exponentially with dealing strong damage
- 00:23:12to the opponent's team due to its
- 00:23:14already high attack stat and protein
- 00:23:16ensuring you're going to one shot most
- 00:23:18Pokemon in the game Meara is kind of
- 00:23:22tricky because it's move pull and
- 00:23:23ability you can't really just have one
- 00:23:26single best move set but I found flower
- 00:23:29trick low kick and Sucker Punch on
- 00:23:31nearly every move set I ran through the
- 00:23:33game with the fourth move changing from
- 00:23:35U-turn knockoff bullet punch and triple
- 00:23:38axle depending on the match the fourth
- 00:23:40move typically was U-turn but knockoff
- 00:23:43was brought against Sabrina bullet seed
- 00:23:45typically was for sash leads and triple
- 00:23:47axle only was useful against strong
- 00:23:50dragon trainers like Lance and blue I
- 00:23:52can't really think of a better starter
- 00:23:54Choice than meow Scara for this run and
- 00:23:57while most grass starters will provide
- 00:24:00success I do think this is the clear
- 00:24:03best choice I do want to mention we will
- 00:24:06be adding one more starter to our team
- 00:24:09but we have to choose our grass starter
- 00:24:11early on because of the Brock and Misty
- 00:24:13battles we face so soon on our journey
- 00:24:15and if we chose any water or fire
- 00:24:17starter right now we are putting
- 00:24:19ourselves at a huge disadvantage before
- 00:24:22I get into our second team member I do
- 00:24:25need to address a specific feature of
- 00:24:28the game that makes using only six
- 00:24:30Pokémon even possible in the first place
- 00:24:33being the wonder eggs the wonder eggs
- 00:24:35are a set of eggs you can buy for 5,000
- 00:24:38in peor Cerulean and vidiian City and
- 00:24:41they make up for three of our six
- 00:24:43Pokémon today you can get a lot of
- 00:24:45game-changing Pokemon significantly
- 00:24:47earlier in your run thanks to these eggs
- 00:24:50but there are definitely some checks and
- 00:24:52balances put into these for example
- 00:24:55Slowpoke is not available in any of
- 00:24:57these eggs
- 00:24:58but Galler Slowpoke is available in all
- 00:25:01of them while Slowpoke will eventually
- 00:25:03join our team because of this
- 00:25:05restriction we actually have a very
- 00:25:07specific order for our next three
- 00:25:09encounters from these eggs while you
- 00:25:11technically can find our next three
- 00:25:14Encounters in all these wonder eggs your
- 00:25:16next encounter for this team has to be
- 00:25:18Tad bulb from our pter city egg Tad bulb
- 00:25:21actually does offer a few key advantages
- 00:25:24here and choosing it before our other
- 00:25:26wonder eggs means we have a fly res
- 00:25:28resist to help our team with Falconer
- 00:25:30who is a required boss fight before
- 00:25:32Brock belly bolt offers a lot to a
- 00:25:35normal playthrough and it essentially
- 00:25:37became a better Mega OS for our team
- 00:25:40you're going this struggle a bit when
- 00:25:42this is just a tad bulb since your
- 00:25:44damage is rather weak but the games do
- 00:25:47give you early access to Electro web in
- 00:25:49vidiian forest in order to at least give
- 00:25:51Tad bulb a stronger electric attack than
- 00:25:54thundershock once they've evolved into
- 00:25:56belly bolt though you're able to handle
- 00:25:58so many random Pokémon in these games
- 00:26:01this is thanks to your ability
- 00:26:02electromorphs allowing you to deal twice
- 00:26:05as much damage with your next electric
- 00:26:07move after you've been attacked this
- 00:26:09makes belly bolt a phenomenal tank
- 00:26:12especially when partnered with parabolic
- 00:26:14charge which is essentially just an
- 00:26:16electric type draining kiss I mostly
- 00:26:18threw on the electric type dealt with
- 00:26:20Falconer and Misty also giving us a
- 00:26:23bulky Pokémon with only a single
- 00:26:25weakness but I was shocked to find out
- 00:26:27belly bolt was capable of handling zasi
- 00:26:29and Crown 1 V one when fighting Bruno
- 00:26:32with the move set of Muddy Water
- 00:26:34teleport parabolic charge and slack off
- 00:26:37you genuinely will never need another
- 00:26:39move set on this Pokemon for your entire
- 00:26:42run I'd add on a citrus Berry in most
- 00:26:44battles in order to better support your
- 00:26:46signature ability and belly bolt was
- 00:26:50easily one of the biggest surprises to
- 00:26:52this team and I couldn't imagine you
- 00:26:55finding a better electric type for your
- 00:26:57journey if you are struggling with Brock
- 00:27:00and Falconer I do have a suggestion for
- 00:27:02our first honorable mention which is
- 00:27:04Sandile just like with our 3.0 team
- 00:27:07Sandile is an amazing option with
- 00:27:09intimidate to help against falconer's
- 00:27:11rufflet and overall it's a good option
- 00:27:13against Brock you probably won't need
- 00:27:15this for any future fights since we'll
- 00:27:17get a more permanent ground type later
- 00:27:19on but if you decide to get Chikorita
- 00:27:22over spatio then this could also be a
- 00:27:25strong ground type for your team instead
- 00:27:27since crocodile will be an absolute
- 00:27:29Powerhouse with moves like Wicked blow
- 00:27:31and earthquake in its Arsenal I do
- 00:27:33believe though that if you end up
- 00:27:35needing to use Sandile at all that it
- 00:27:37will have served its purpose by the time
- 00:27:39you've beaten Brock we do have our
- 00:27:41second Wonder egg to go over which
- 00:27:43mostly will serve the role of a free
- 00:27:45switchin Pokemon until we fully evolve
- 00:27:47it for our Cerulean Wonder egg we have
- 00:27:50fracks giving us a phenomenal pseudo
- 00:27:52legendary and a strong wall breaker for
- 00:27:55now though it's a bit early to use it
- 00:27:57and we won't get much success from it
- 00:27:59until silco but it does have one
- 00:28:02important function for your team frig
- 00:28:04backs despite lacking in damage will
- 00:28:06allow you an easier time bringing other
- 00:28:09Pokemon like belly bolt so they can
- 00:28:10avoid taking damage while we do have
- 00:28:13several other egg encounters to get
- 00:28:15frig's dragon and Ice tying should at
- 00:28:18least if need be match up better into
- 00:28:21MTI specifically with the ice stab being
- 00:28:23good against her Claire I wouldn't
- 00:28:25expect much from it though until Sil
- 00:28:28back's caliber will turn into one of the
- 00:28:30most powerful Pokemon in radical red
- 00:28:33boasting an incredible ability in
- 00:28:35thermal energy you're one of the few
- 00:28:37physical attackers who can not only
- 00:28:39avoid Burns altogether but outright take
- 00:28:42advantage of it any time an opponent
- 00:28:44uses a fire type move of any kind such
- 00:28:47as flamethrower flare Blitz or
- 00:28:49willowwisp you'll raise your physical
- 00:28:51Attack by One Stage this causes back's
- 00:28:54caliber to easily defeat most enemies
- 00:28:56unless they a still type Pokémon since
- 00:28:59even a lot of the fairies you'll
- 00:29:00encounter have low physical defense with
- 00:29:03options like icicle Spear and glaive
- 00:29:05Rush you'll be able to shatter most
- 00:29:08enemies and in case they survive a turn
- 00:29:10you may also want to give back's caliber
- 00:29:12ice Shard for a priority option to pick
- 00:29:14off enemies who only have a bit of HP
- 00:29:16remaining most options for your fourth
- 00:29:18move won't really matter but I
- 00:29:21personally use crunch since it gave me a
- 00:29:23good way to hit Mega Metagross and Gerra
- 00:29:26both of which you'll encounter at the
- 00:29:28end of your journey but I didn't really
- 00:29:30find another move worth using here you
- 00:29:32could probably invest in a ground type
- 00:29:35move like earthquake or stomping tantrum
- 00:29:37but I never felt like back's caliber
- 00:29:39needed it so using crunch which was one
- 00:29:41of its level up moves more than sufficed
- 00:29:44this team also has plenty of other means
- 00:29:46to handle still type Pokemon so your
- 00:29:48back's caliber should be in a strong
- 00:29:50position to take on most bosses and
- 00:29:52break their teams in half if you're
- 00:29:54unsure what item to use I recommend the
- 00:29:56never melti the Dragon Fang or the
- 00:29:59loaded dce on back's caliber I found
- 00:30:01that the never melti was mostly useful
- 00:30:03for boosting ice Shard damage meanwhile
- 00:30:06Dragon Fang gave back's caliber a much
- 00:30:08stronger glaive rush and loaded dice
- 00:30:10made icicle spear a more reliable move
- 00:30:13regardless of the item choice though
- 00:30:15back's caliber will surely carry your
- 00:30:17team to Great Heights we do have another
- 00:30:20egg encounter to go over which actually
- 00:30:22has two locations to find around this
- 00:30:25point in your adventure I personally got
- 00:30:27it from the Vermillion City Wonder egg
- 00:30:29but you can also encounter this thanks
- 00:30:31to the sevi eggs as well at this point
- 00:30:33in the story we finally have access to
- 00:30:36the prism scale an item that will grant
- 00:30:38us the ability to obtain a sevy myotic
- 00:30:40which is an extremely powerful ground
- 00:30:43and fairy Pokemon this typing alone is
- 00:30:46already a phenomenal offensive and
- 00:30:48defensive typing and allows sevy myotic
- 00:30:51to Stand Out Among the crowd with
- 00:30:53immunities to dragon and electric as
- 00:30:56well as resistances to fighting Rock Bug
- 00:30:59and dark seevi myotic quickly
- 00:31:02establishes itself as a strong defensive
- 00:31:04piece your typing also hits electric
- 00:31:07Rock steel fire poison dragon fighting
- 00:31:12and dark for super effective damage with
- 00:31:14poison and steel being especially
- 00:31:17noteworthy as these would be the two
- 00:31:19types most other fairies would be weak
- 00:31:21to sey myotic Stats are also strong
- 00:31:24since they're basically the same as
- 00:31:26regular myotic the only change between
- 00:31:28them is sevi Milotic gives up five base
- 00:31:31points in its speed which it adds to its
- 00:31:33special attack what makes sevi Milotic
- 00:31:35truly stand out though is how you'll
- 00:31:37gain access to one of the only ground
- 00:31:39types with reliable recovery while
- 00:31:42options like gastron and Quagsire can
- 00:31:44use recover as well they can't usually
- 00:31:46put up as much of a fight offensively
- 00:31:49which mostly comes down to sevy myotic
- 00:31:51move pool with options like moonblast
- 00:31:53and earth power or stabs you can take
- 00:31:55advantage of two of the best special
- 00:31:58attacks in the entire game meanwhile
- 00:32:00you'll also have strong attacks like
- 00:32:02flip turn Shore up and stealth rocks at
- 00:32:04your disposal for more utility I used
- 00:32:07flip turn and Shore up for most of my
- 00:32:09early Adventure but once I got to
- 00:32:11Claire's gym I actually decided it was
- 00:32:13better to change flip turnout for
- 00:32:14hazards in order to combat Focus sash
- 00:32:17Pokemon like Deoxys attack and
- 00:32:19Aerodactyl while also having an easy way
- 00:32:21to break multi skill which was present
- 00:32:23on multiple Dragonite towards the end of
- 00:32:25my run while you definitely can make
- 00:32:28most ground types work I think sevy
- 00:32:30myotic has such a unique move pull in
- 00:32:32typing that it truly is able to set
- 00:32:35itself apart from anything else in the
- 00:32:37game as but the fairy and a ground type
- 00:32:39with our ground type on the team you may
- 00:32:41actually be surprised we actually have
- 00:32:44one more Pokémon to add before taking on
- 00:32:46Lieutenant surge however we have one
- 00:32:48more egg to get to round out our team I
- 00:32:51did mention we had one more starter for
- 00:32:54our team which we can actually get in
- 00:32:56Celadon after the SSN you'll have access
- 00:32:59to cut which means you can go all the
- 00:33:01way through Rock Tunnel and get yourself
- 00:33:03a starter egg in Celadon City you need
- 00:33:06one of the red green blue or yellow
- 00:33:09shards in exchange for a fire grass
- 00:33:12water or electric type egg for today's
- 00:33:14team we'll be using a red shard to get
- 00:33:16ourselves another generation n starter
- 00:33:18Pokemon Fuoco while Del Fox similar to
- 00:33:21Meganium still has plenty of viability
- 00:33:24in radical red 4.0 skurge might honestly
- 00:33:27ly be one of the best fire starters in
- 00:33:30existence this only gets even more
- 00:33:32noticeable in radical red since a lot of
- 00:33:35later boss fights use some of the
- 00:33:37strongest Ubers Pokémon skurge actually
- 00:33:40has an incredible presence in the Ubers
- 00:33:42tier and for multiple months this
- 00:33:44generation has even landed itself in the
- 00:33:47top 10 for usage mainly due to its
- 00:33:49ability to combat box Arts such as zasi
- 00:33:52and crowned thanks to its hidden ability
- 00:33:54unaware seeing how we will need to fight
- 00:33:57a z
- 00:33:58as well as some other standout ubber
- 00:34:00level Pokémon like famosa and karx ice
- 00:34:02rider it might be a good idea to add
- 00:34:05this to our team despite being most
- 00:34:08known for its presence in Ubers to wall
- 00:34:10box Arts skeler still has plenty of
- 00:34:13battles it'll be impactful for in the
- 00:34:15rest of your journey for starters Tor
- 00:34:17song which is skel's signature move
- 00:34:20boosting your special attack by one
- 00:34:22stage every time you use it there is no
- 00:34:24drawbacks for this move and it takes
- 00:34:26advantage of your fire stab to deal
- 00:34:28immense damage I paired this with
- 00:34:30willowwisp hex and slackoff in order to
- 00:34:33handle pretty much every battle in the
- 00:34:35game I almost never used anything
- 00:34:38besides Tor song though because a few
- 00:34:40times against lury I had to use slack
- 00:34:42off to survive long enough while my
- 00:34:44partner attacked this is easily one of
- 00:34:47the strongest fire attacks ever created
- 00:34:50and while it is a bit overkill for
- 00:34:52scarlet and violet and a more
- 00:34:54competitive rom hack like radical red
- 00:34:56this move feels right at home skel will
- 00:34:59prove to be very useful against
- 00:35:00opponents like Erica and Sabrina as well
- 00:35:03as Team Rockets ariiana and most of your
- 00:35:05Elite 4run skeler is probably the best
- 00:35:08starter to choose for the late game in
- 00:35:10my eyes and it also benefits immensely
- 00:35:13from having both backs caliber and meow
- 00:35:15Scara to handle opposing ground type
- 00:35:17Pokemon that may otherwise try to get
- 00:35:19the upper hand against you the team of
- 00:35:21five honestly could be enough for the
- 00:35:24majority of battles however we do have
- 00:35:27one one more important team member to go
- 00:35:29over well at least on paper which is our
- 00:35:32team's Mega Evolution Mega slow bro Mega
- 00:35:36Slowbro provides this team with a strong
- 00:35:38physical wall and one of the best bulky
- 00:35:41water Pokemon in the entire game this
- 00:35:43historically has been considered one of
- 00:35:45the most essential Pokemon needed to
- 00:35:47beat the Elite 4 but it may surprise you
- 00:35:50guys to knowe I actually didn't get much
- 00:35:53use out of Mega slobb bro this time
- 00:35:55around back when I did my team for
- 00:35:57radical red 3.0 Mega slobb bro was
- 00:35:59genuinely one of the most important
- 00:36:01Pokemon to my run I found this time
- 00:36:04however I wasn't getting much use out of
- 00:36:06it aside from a couple of battles with
- 00:36:09the big one being to handle the
- 00:36:11combination of back Calibur and cerx ice
- 00:36:13from laurelai I don't know how I rolled
- 00:36:16laurelai snow team twice now when
- 00:36:19covering a best team if anyone knows why
- 00:36:21this was the case i' love to hear about
- 00:36:23it down below by the way I just couldn't
- 00:36:25believe my luck that I got this matchup
- 00:36:28for our 3.0 and 4.0 best teams as this
- 00:36:31is in my eyes her harder team moving on
- 00:36:34to what makes Mega slow bro good though
- 00:36:37is that this is an incredible option
- 00:36:39defensively allowing you to have a
- 00:36:41strong water type that can not only take
- 00:36:43hits but deal out some serious damage
- 00:36:45thanks to body press I found this to be
- 00:36:47extremely useful in the Elite 4 where I
- 00:36:50use the move set of slackoff body press
- 00:36:53teleport and either iron defense or surf
- 00:36:55depending on the matchup I had iron
- 00:36:57defense for Laura Li and Bruno but the
- 00:37:00rest of the battles I used surf instead
- 00:37:02as it matched up better into Agatha and
- 00:37:04from there I honestly just forgot to
- 00:37:07give Mega slow bro iron defense again
- 00:37:09while Mega slowo was the correct sixth
- 00:37:12choice I found enough success from
- 00:37:14Pokemon like belly bolt and skele to
- 00:37:17where this time around Mega slow bro
- 00:37:19felt more like a last resort rather than
- 00:37:22my wi Con in most battles even Bruno
- 00:37:25whose team is typically very easily
- 00:37:27handled by Mega slobb bro lost three of
- 00:37:29his mons one of which was aasian crowned
- 00:37:33to belly bolt of all mons if I needed to
- 00:37:35rely on Mega slow bro more often I'm
- 00:37:38sure I wouldn't be having any of this
- 00:37:41second guessing but I think this goes to
- 00:37:43show radical red gave us so many new
- 00:37:46terrifying Pokemon that despite this
- 00:37:49being in my eyes the best way to run a
- 00:37:51team of six for these games you'll have
- 00:37:54plenty of other options to choose from
- 00:37:56if you dislike anything I used so what
- 00:37:58are some other noteworthy additions if
- 00:38:00you want to change up some Pokémon well
- 00:38:03I already mentioned Sandile and
- 00:38:05crocodile both of which I actually
- 00:38:07almost caught exclusively to handle
- 00:38:08Falconer and Brock because I had
- 00:38:10struggled a lot beating their teams with
- 00:38:12only two Pokemon speaking of Pokemon we
- 00:38:15previously used I still think you could
- 00:38:18even go as far as running that same team
- 00:38:20entirely am fros Aegis slash crocodile
- 00:38:24Del Fox Meganium and mega slobb bro all
- 00:38:27still work well together for these games
- 00:38:30if you're trying to find some new
- 00:38:31Pokemon to use though I'd probably start
- 00:38:34by considering either gar chop or Gango
- 00:38:36for your journey Gango is basically just
- 00:38:38a more offensive option for a steal
- 00:38:41compared to AIS slash and while it lacks
- 00:38:43priority with Shadow sneak you'll still
- 00:38:46have the ability to set up and sweep a
- 00:38:48fair bit of enemies thanks to good as
- 00:38:50gold which can block moves like taunt
- 00:38:52meanwhile Garchomp's offensive stab
- 00:38:55combination of ground and dragon
- 00:38:57provides you a strong alternative to
- 00:38:58back's caliber and while you'll need to
- 00:39:00fear things like ice Shard and burns
- 00:39:03Garchomp also offers a bit more
- 00:39:05versatility than just being your wall
- 00:39:07breaker finally you can typically get
- 00:39:09some good use out of weather in radical
- 00:39:12red and the best weather combination in
- 00:39:14my eyes would probably be peler and mega
- 00:39:17Swamper with peler giving you a strong
- 00:39:19U-turn into Mega Swamper allowing for an
- 00:39:22easier time sweeping through teams
- 00:39:24weather is mostly useful as a means to
- 00:39:27opposing weather which will be prevalent
- 00:39:30in the later portions of your run but
- 00:39:32dedicating two spaces to weather can
- 00:39:34definitely be a bit inefficient against
- 00:39:36teams like Erica so just make sure to
- 00:39:39patch up your grass weakness if you
- 00:39:41decide to bring this Duo radical red is
- 00:39:44probably the poster child of
- 00:39:45competitively focused ROM hacks and
- 00:39:47we've just been given the new 4.1 update
- 00:39:50adding in the palan expansion Pokémon
- 00:39:53like archidon and ogron while I wouldn't
- 00:39:55say a ton has changed here there were a
- 00:39:58lot of Pokémon I felt were viable during
- 00:40:01the 4.0 best team that didn't quite make
- 00:40:03the cut but I want to try to Showcase
- 00:40:05some of those instead so today let's try
- 00:40:08to make the best rain team for radical
- 00:40:10Red's new 4.1 version I'm pretty
- 00:40:13confident about the investment that rain
- 00:40:15can make in this run especially to ease
- 00:40:18the later stages but if you want to
- 00:40:20learn about other types of teams that
- 00:40:21can still perform in radical red let me
- 00:40:24know down below as there is a lot of
- 00:40:26other options such such as weathers a
- 00:40:28more vanilla 4.1 best team or even a
- 00:40:31version where you finally unleash some
- 00:40:33of the legendaries in this game if
- 00:40:35you're interested in more radical red
- 00:40:37best team content let me know down below
- 00:40:39but for now let's start off with our
- 00:40:41starter Choice despite building a rain
- 00:40:44team I feel like we should clear our
- 00:40:46very obvious grass starter candidate out
- 00:40:49of the way early on so I ended up
- 00:40:51actually choosing spatio I should
- 00:40:53probably mention that while I chose
- 00:40:55spatio for this portion after doing a
- 00:40:58lot of our later egg encounters I came
- 00:41:00to the conclusion Mudkip was probably
- 00:41:03the optimal starter here this didn't
- 00:41:05have any meaningful impact other than
- 00:41:08the Peter City egg took significantly
- 00:41:10longer for my particular Journey because
- 00:41:12I forgot about the Pala starter egg I
- 00:41:14could have gotten with far greater odds
- 00:41:17there won't be any important impact that
- 00:41:19happens based on your choice of Mudkip
- 00:41:21or spartito for things like rival fights
- 00:41:24so for anyone besides me you should
- 00:41:27really be choosing Mudkip as your
- 00:41:28starter regardless we did manage to
- 00:41:30start with spatio and it is a fairly
- 00:41:33potent option still in 4.1 not much is
- 00:41:36change that makes this Choice less
- 00:41:38favorable as you're still fairly
- 00:41:40powerful against a lot of the early game
- 00:41:42such as Brock or Misty while being a
- 00:41:45phenomenal late game spikes option going
- 00:41:47into battles like the Elite 4 when you
- 00:41:50evolve this into meow Scara you'll gain
- 00:41:52access to a powerful dark type that can
- 00:41:54Breeze through most opponents such as
- 00:41:56Sabrina and a with ease due to your
- 00:41:58powerful stab knockoff but with your
- 00:42:00ability protein you can take advantage
- 00:42:02of stab on a wide array of other moves
- 00:42:05such as triple axle and play rough to
- 00:42:07widen your strong matchups to fit your
- 00:42:09every need it's pretty hard to truly
- 00:42:12pinpoint a moov set for meow Scara as
- 00:42:14the definitive best as the point of
- 00:42:16utilizing this is to tailor your
- 00:42:18coverage around matchups and unlike on
- 00:42:21our vanilla team with rain that will
- 00:42:23become a lot more important to handle
- 00:42:25key weaknesses you're still pursuing
- 00:42:27items like Focus sash or life orb once
- 00:42:30you gain access to them and investing
- 00:42:32your spread with the Jolly nature and
- 00:42:34Max attack and speed for a majority of
- 00:42:36opponents you'll encounter but early on
- 00:42:39I found myself also using adamant a lot
- 00:42:41as his speed is meaningless until you've
- 00:42:43beaten the first few gyms for any good
- 00:42:46rain team it's crucial we have a strong
- 00:42:49drizzle option and radical red still
- 00:42:52allows us the option to peler early on
- 00:42:54we can actually obtain Wingull on the
- 00:42:56route out the Pallet Town through the
- 00:42:58Tall Grass encounters that radical red
- 00:43:00allows us after we get our Pokedex
- 00:43:02Wingull itself is a pretty okay option
- 00:43:05as a backup super effective means of
- 00:43:07damaging Brock but you won't get much
- 00:43:10out of it until you get access to Mega
- 00:43:12Swamper this Pokemon is mostly here for
- 00:43:14two reasons the first is as your drizzle
- 00:43:17Pokémon with Drizzle peler can clear
- 00:43:20through opposing weather and considering
- 00:43:22there are bosses that otherwise set
- 00:43:24their own permanent weather this is a
- 00:43:26big deal coper is the easiest means of
- 00:43:29stopping opponents like laurelai and
- 00:43:31Blaine from otherwise becoming genuinely
- 00:43:33overwhelming and it arguably makes two
- 00:43:36of this game's strongest trainers seem
- 00:43:38like they're no- named opponents for
- 00:43:40your move set you'll utilize Roost
- 00:43:42hydrop pump and hurricane for certain
- 00:43:45you can make your fourth move a few
- 00:43:47different options but I chose brine as a
- 00:43:49less volatile water type move than
- 00:43:51hydropump when you're below half this
- 00:43:54can be a great last Stitch effort to
- 00:43:56guarantee an opponent for more damage
- 00:43:57than hydropump if you prefer shying away
- 00:44:00from the second water stab though defog
- 00:44:02is a strong Choice here as well to
- 00:44:04remove hazards for later entries on our
- 00:44:06team as this team does have a decent
- 00:44:08weakness to stealth rocks I changed my
- 00:44:11items a few times between sharp beak
- 00:44:13Mystic water and damp Rock but by the
- 00:44:16end of the adventure it was pretty
- 00:44:17exclusively damp rock as I no longer
- 00:44:20needed peler to function as its own
- 00:44:22damaging piece I tried going bulky at
- 00:44:25first but I realized that timid velop ER
- 00:44:27was a far better option to outspeed a
- 00:44:30lot of the more average speed options
- 00:44:32for players who haven't specifically
- 00:44:34played the 4.1 version of radical red
- 00:44:37this new version introduced players to a
- 00:44:39pal if you catch centrate on route two
- 00:44:42and evolve it into a furet you can make
- 00:44:44a trade on route two past the diglett's
- 00:44:46cave entrance for a chillet which is a
- 00:44:49new dragon and Ice option this is a
- 00:44:52pretty monstrous option that'll change
- 00:44:54the game for this team with the ability
- 00:44:56refriger at being powerful for your
- 00:44:58normal type moves that now have a
- 00:45:00boosted ice stab I found this to be
- 00:45:03pretty useful with quick attack and
- 00:45:05double edge but as the game progresses
- 00:45:07you'll gain access to extreme speed
- 00:45:09right before the Elite 4 by your endgame
- 00:45:11the best move set will for sure be
- 00:45:14Sucker Punch extreme speed dragonclaw
- 00:45:17and D Dan with the never melt ice option
- 00:45:20in order to boost your extreme speed
- 00:45:21damage even further this will help a lot
- 00:45:24with grass and dragon types that would
- 00:45:26otherwise W your rain Corp and it
- 00:45:28genuinely is probably one of the biggest
- 00:45:31things making rain work without
- 00:45:33legendaries so chillet is a pretty
- 00:45:36dangerous option but what about centr I
- 00:45:39actually found CIT to be the biggest
- 00:45:40reason the early game Falconer fight was
- 00:45:42manageable because my team going into
- 00:45:45this consisted of spatio Wingull mudkip
- 00:45:48and furet I was able to actually
- 00:45:51overcome this otherwise very uphill
- 00:45:53battle in fact I would go as far as to
- 00:45:55say that furet was probably the biggest
- 00:45:58reason I didn't need to find some sort
- 00:46:00of seventh mon for this team just to
- 00:46:02handle the falconer battle chillet
- 00:46:04itself though will be useful for a wide
- 00:46:06array of matches especially when it
- 00:46:08comes to battles like CLA Lance and the
- 00:46:11rivals team at the end but it's really
- 00:46:13hard for a dragon and ice type not to
- 00:46:15thrive in a Pokemon game as I described
- 00:46:18earlier in our portion about spatio
- 00:46:20Mudkip is the actual optimal starter
- 00:46:23Choice here for our run in particular
- 00:46:25though I managed to obtain Ain it
- 00:46:27through the peer eggs so if you for some
- 00:46:29reason are truly partial to starting off
- 00:46:31with the cat you'll still get Mudkip
- 00:46:34before any not worthy fights Mudkip is a
- 00:46:37crucial piece for our run this is our
- 00:46:39team's best wall breaker and it's the
- 00:46:41central piece of our team today with the
- 00:46:44water and ground typing this is the only
- 00:46:46rain sweeper besides seis metode that
- 00:46:48will handle electric types for this
- 00:46:50composition though it's far better
- 00:46:52suited for this game due to your higher
- 00:46:54attack and better bulk Mudkip is a
- 00:46:57pretty useful option from start to
- 00:46:59finish for this run due to only having a
- 00:47:01weakness to Grass types and it's pretty
- 00:47:04hard to find a battle this Evolution
- 00:47:06line can't provide some form of value as
- 00:47:09for a move set I recommend flip turn
- 00:47:12earthquake rock slide and ice punch as
- 00:47:14this essentially gives Swampert the best
- 00:47:16odds of Performing well you can utilize
- 00:47:19options like rocks if you want as
- 00:47:21swampert's a strong bulky option anyway
- 00:47:23for rain but I found the option for four
- 00:47:26attack to provide higher value in most
- 00:47:29battles than taking a turn for hazards
- 00:47:31while you'd assume a swift swim option
- 00:47:33would look into investing in speed I
- 00:47:36actually want Max HP and Max attack as
- 00:47:39swampert's bulk was usually a better
- 00:47:41tool in most games while I could utilize
- 00:47:44the speed to outspeed faster Pokemon in
- 00:47:47Rain the bulk will always provide value
- 00:47:49for this Pokemon even if I can't keep up
- 00:47:52the rain for enough turns this was a big
- 00:47:55reason options like the ch Champions
- 00:47:57Miron didn't sweep our team so I can't
- 00:48:00recommend bulky Mega Swamper enough here
- 00:48:03let's look into a strong fire type to
- 00:48:05round out our Firewater grass core as
- 00:48:07this should hopefully help with giving
- 00:48:09us a backup response to options like
- 00:48:11Erica's gym I found that despite the
- 00:48:14high evolution level obtaining Larvesta
- 00:48:17was a pretty big deal here Larvesta was
- 00:48:20a pretty difficult option to justify but
- 00:48:22I was able to still get some value out
- 00:48:25of matchups like the game Corner G gani
- 00:48:27battle since the access to flame body
- 00:48:29was great for burning Mega Kangaskhan in
- 00:48:31this battle which at least helped our
- 00:48:33other partners out once you obtain V
- 00:48:35Corona though most trainers will quiver
- 00:48:37in fear at how terrifying of a sweeper
- 00:48:40it can be once I evolved V Corona in
- 00:48:43time for Sabrina's gym I was able to
- 00:48:45teach it Heatwave gigar drain quiver
- 00:48:47dance and Roost which stayed as my move
- 00:48:50set until after laurelai where I
- 00:48:52replaced Heatwave for fiery dance
- 00:48:54Heatwave gave us a strong option to
- 00:48:57handle the double battles this game has
- 00:48:59and V Corona was an incredible win con
- 00:49:01because of it V Corona was essentially
- 00:49:04going to be our team's backup win
- 00:49:06condition if we weren't able to get up
- 00:49:08Rain since most teams with ways around
- 00:49:10our rain like lur were pretty handily
- 00:49:13beaten down because of all Corona got up
- 00:49:15a couple quiver dances to sweep her
- 00:49:17entire team after peler stopped the veil
- 00:49:19from going up by switching in V Corona
- 00:49:22is a pretty big deal for this team and
- 00:49:25it easily is the best f type you can add
- 00:49:27here for our final mon we have a bit of
- 00:49:30a journey to make as we need to beat
- 00:49:32Sabrina to gain access to Route 13's
- 00:49:34raid Den I think this is the first time
- 00:49:37we're using a raid Den to encounter
- 00:49:39Pokémon but thanks to the wish pieces
- 00:49:41you're able to obtain access to
- 00:49:43duraladon which at level 50 evolves into
- 00:49:45archidon archidon is our strong switch
- 00:49:48into opposing rain abusers and it was a
- 00:49:51pretty powerful defensive backbone I
- 00:49:54will say there were a few times I was
- 00:49:56considered swapping this for AIS slash
- 00:49:59which while it is less suited to switch
- 00:50:01into rain sweepers it's still a
- 00:50:03generally good backbone on a team that
- 00:50:06has options to reduce damage from
- 00:50:07incoming fire types I was able to
- 00:50:10outmaneuver a few fights like giovan's
- 00:50:12game Corner fight and the Sabrina gym
- 00:50:15that would have otherwise benefited
- 00:50:16greatly from the presence of AIS slash
- 00:50:19so I ended up being patient and awaiting
- 00:50:21my terrifying Steel type instead if you
- 00:50:24struggle with either of these battles
- 00:50:25though consider grabbing AIS Slash from
- 00:50:27the game Corner in Celadon as it's still
- 00:50:30a great defensive steal here for my move
- 00:50:33set I utilize Dragon pulse flash Cannon
- 00:50:36electroshock and body press with the
- 00:50:38ability stamina and a citrus Berry
- 00:50:40archelon was able to pressure plenty of
- 00:50:43opponents like Claire and the Elite 4
- 00:50:45but it usually didn't seem to be the
- 00:50:47most dominant option on our team Arch
- 00:50:49ladon's role here was mostly just a
- 00:50:52strong six Pokemon that fills our strong
- 00:50:55Steel type need well and thanks to
- 00:50:57Electro shot it happens to also
- 00:50:59borderline fill the role of a good
- 00:51:01electric type as well in tandem with
- 00:51:03peler inv v Corona this did a great job
- 00:51:06filling in our defensive holes on this
- 00:51:08team and provided up a more offensive
- 00:51:11wall unlike a Pokemon dis agis slash
- 00:51:14that has to give up defenses to deal
- 00:51:16proper damage to opponents outside of
- 00:51:18toxic sets overall I think rain was a
- 00:51:21pretty terrifying archetype for this
- 00:51:23game while I will say the early portion
- 00:51:26of the game are definitely a struggle a
- 00:51:29lot of the more terrifying opponents get
- 00:51:31handled with very little effort at all
- 00:51:33due to the Synergy having rain provides
- 00:51:36when most bosses by the end of the game
- 00:51:38have permanent field conditions having
- 00:51:40an option to manipulate them in your
- 00:51:42favor like drizzle peler is genuinely
- 00:51:45one of the coolest ways to make this
- 00:51:47game have to play into your hands
- 00:51:49instead of the other way around but what
- 00:51:51did you think of rain in radical red do
- 00:51:54you think it's as good as I'm portraying
- 00:51:56it let me know in the comments below if
- 00:51:58you think rain is a strong option for
- 00:52:00these games and while you're on your way
- 00:52:02down there consider subscribing as I
- 00:52:04plan to make plenty of other best team
