The COVID-19 pandemic drastically altered daily life, leading to lockdowns, social distancing, and widespread fear and uncertainty. Many individuals experienced a loss of control over their lives, resulting in feelings of isolation and distress. The aftermath of the pandemic has not returned to normal, as society grapples with the psychological impacts and the realization that such crises can occur again, creating a collective sense of PTSD.

  • 00:05:00 - 00:14:18

The pandemic exposed a significant power struggle, with governments and corporations exerting control over individuals. This has led to a deep mistrust of authorities and a perception of powerlessness among the populace. The crisis has also intensified protective behaviors, resulting in a harsher social environment. Covid rocked this world. For so many
  • 00:00:02
people on earth, life was just going
  • 00:00:04
along as usual. And then suddenly there
  • 00:00:06
was this crisis. Suddenly life changed.
  • 00:00:08
Suddenly there were lockdowns and mask
  • 00:00:10
mandates and travel was restricted and
  • 00:00:13
blocked and businesses and employees and
  • 00:00:15
employers struggle to change policy and
  • 00:00:18
    many businesses collapsed and social
  • 00:00:20
distancing was imposed and people were
  • 00:00:22
separated and isolated and there were
  • 00:00:23
    interpersonal conflicts all over the
  • 00:00:25
    place. There were vaccine mandates.
  • 00:00:27
    People were put through experiences
  • 00:00:28
where they felt they had no choice when
  • 00:00:30
it came to their own bodies. People were
  • 00:00:33
dying. There was censorship going on.
  • 00:00:36
People were flooded, and I mean flooded,
  • 00:00:38
    with conflicting information. And this
  • 00:00:40
list just goes on and on and on. The
  • 00:00:43
    human world slipped into extreme
  • 00:00:45
    distress. People were consumed by
  • 00:00:47
    uncertainty, confusion, fear, and
  • 00:00:50
loneliness as they lost a sense of
  • 00:00:52
    control over their life experience.
  • 00:00:55
Boy, I'm glad we're over all of that,
  • 00:00:57
right? I mean, it's been 5 years after
  • 00:00:59
all. Life's pretty much gotten back to
  • 00:01:01
    normal, hasn't
  • 00:01:04
it? Well, the answer is no. In fact,
  • 00:01:07
this is one of the biggest gaslights
  • 00:01:09
that is happening in human society the
  • 00:01:11
world over. Society and human experience
  • 00:01:14
with it is not back to normal after co.
  • 00:01:17
So, allow me to ungast you.
  • 00:01:21
    [Music]
  • 00:01:25
We're going to do this point by point.
  • 00:01:27
One, there is no afterco. Unless a
  • 00:01:30
person is warned about the possibility
  • 00:01:31
of something bad happening, they become
  • 00:01:33
    aware of that possibility by
  • 00:01:34
    experiencing it firsthand. For example,
  • 00:01:37
unless you're warned about sharks being
  • 00:01:39
in the water. You become aware of the
  • 00:01:41
possibility of shark attack by seeing
  • 00:01:43
one or experiencing one yourself. From
  • 00:01:45
that day forward, you know that it's
  • 00:01:47
possible. And so, you're living with a
  • 00:01:49
    negative potential. This makes swimming
  • 00:01:52
a very different experience and a worse
  • 00:01:54
one. For almost everyone, what happened
  • 00:01:56
in COVID times was not something that
  • 00:01:58
they could have ever imagined to be
  • 00:02:00
possible. It never crossed their minds.
  • 00:02:02
But now that everyone has experienced
  • 00:02:04
it, everyone knows it can happen. And so
  • 00:02:06
the fear of it or anything like it
  • 00:02:08
happening again is something that people
  • 00:02:09
are living with. Now you can consider
  • 00:02:12
this the foundation of a collective
  • 00:02:14
societal case of PTSD. This makes living
  • 00:02:18
in the world a very different
  • 00:02:19
experience. And yes, a worse one. Two,
  • 00:02:23
    there was something happening underneath
  • 00:02:24
this COVID crisis. That something was a
  • 00:02:27
massive power grab. COVID was used as a
  • 00:02:30
tool and politicized as fear so often is
  • 00:02:33
in a power game that has been going on,
  • 00:02:35
but that most people didn't actually
  • 00:02:36
perceive until co. You can think of this
  • 00:02:39
power game like a massive, unfortunately
  • 00:02:42
very real game of risk. The world has
  • 00:02:45
fallen under the control of select
  • 00:02:46
    individuals and the corporations they
  • 00:02:48
control who are obsessed with power and
  • 00:02:51
who do not actually have the best
  • 00:02:52
interests of others such as the people
  • 00:02:55
of the world in their mind or in their
  • 00:02:57
hearts. This has created a kind of
  • 00:03:00
modern power struggle that we only
  • 00:03:03
believed to be in the past. And they are
  • 00:03:06
playing a very strategic and very
  • 00:03:08
dangerous game with each other and with
  • 00:03:10
citizen life. It is as confusing a game
  • 00:03:13
that they're playing as the power games
  • 00:03:15
that go on in any royal court. These
  • 00:03:17
games include both covert and overt
  • 00:03:19
tactics. And part of this game is that
  • 00:03:22
you are being told that everything is
  • 00:03:24
back to normal and everything is moving
  • 00:03:27
    forwards towards more freedom, towards
  • 00:03:30
    new innovation, towards technology
  • 00:03:32
    that's going to totally revolutionize
  • 00:03:35
the world, etc. that the horrors of the
  • 00:03:37
past, things like whole groups of people
  • 00:03:40
being targeted for hate and things like
  • 00:03:43
dictatorships and things like wars are
  • 00:03:45
something that all of us have learned
  • 00:03:47
from. And so they're a thing of the
  • 00:03:50
past. But I'm sorry to break it to you.
  • 00:03:53
We didn't actually learn much from them.
  • 00:03:55
The reality is that we are headed
  • 00:03:56
    towards repeating history and towards
  • 00:03:58
    recreating the nightmares that we
  • 00:03:59
thought could only happen in the past.
  • 00:04:04
Most people can feel this reality. They
  • 00:04:06
can feel this power game that's being
  • 00:04:08
played over their heads. Um they can
  • 00:04:10
feel that things are not okay at all.
  • 00:04:13
It's a bit like perceiving a covert war.
  • 00:04:16
    They're feeling this danger everywhere.
  • 00:04:18
They have simply succumbed to normaly
  • 00:04:20
bias which is a real thing in today's
  • 00:04:23
world. And it doesn't matter whether
  • 00:04:25
COVID is not the current thing being
  • 00:04:27
used in this game anymore. This power
  • 00:04:29
struggle is not only still going on. In
  • 00:04:32
fact, it is heating up. We are in a time
  • 00:04:34
where uncertainty as to what this world
  • 00:04:36
is going to look like politically in the
  • 00:04:38
future is at an absolute all-time high.
  • 00:04:41
So the world doesn't feel good again.
  • 00:04:44
Three, it doesn't matter whether you
  • 00:04:47
were a supporter of government control
  • 00:04:48
during the crisis or whether you were
  • 00:04:50
not. Either way, it is undeniable that
  • 00:04:53
during the COVID crisis, much of the
  • 00:04:55
world got its very first taste of what
  • 00:04:57
government control can look and feel
  • 00:04:59
like. What people found out very fast is
  • 00:05:02
that the government along with any other
  • 00:05:04
    authorities can simply decide something
  • 00:05:05
which you're at the mercy of regardless
  • 00:05:07
of whether you think it's in your best
  • 00:05:08
interests or not. So many people felt
  • 00:05:11
what it feels like for an authority such
  • 00:05:12
as a government to play a zero someum
  • 00:05:14
game against them. This made people feel
  • 00:05:17
like control and freedom and having a
  • 00:05:19
say is in fact an illusion. Even the
  • 00:05:21
people who think their government should
  • 00:05:22
have been stricter so as to keep people
  • 00:05:25
safe felt negatively at the mercy of
  • 00:05:27
their government. And so what's happened
  • 00:05:30
is a big divide between the people and
  • 00:05:32
    authority figures, especially a divide
  • 00:05:34
    between the people and their
  • 00:05:37
    governments. This divide cannot be
  • 00:05:40
    overstated. During COVID times, the
  • 00:05:42
    collective lost trust for authorities
  • 00:05:44
and lost trust in the government. The
  • 00:05:47
tension and distress of living under a
  • 00:05:50
government that you don't trust and feel
  • 00:05:52
    can be against your best
  • 00:05:54
interests instead of for your best
  • 00:05:57
interests. causes serious distress for a
  • 00:06:00
person to live with. Four, COVID caused
  • 00:06:03
    people to slip into perceived
  • 00:06:04
powerlessness, a state where people feel
  • 00:06:06
they don't have any control over their
  • 00:06:08
    life experience, most especially bad
  • 00:06:10
things happening to them. And this has
  • 00:06:12
caused both fear and a kind of apathy in
  • 00:06:14
many people. Many people feel like there
  • 00:06:16
isn't really a point to putting a lot of
  • 00:06:18
effort into trying to attain what they
  • 00:06:20
want or to build things up in their life
  • 00:06:22
if it can all just go away in a moment
  • 00:06:24
    without a fight. This perceived
  • 00:06:27
    powerlessness has happened for many
  • 00:06:29
reasons. One of these reasons is that
  • 00:06:31
people were blindsided by the whole
  • 00:06:34
thing. Another reason is that many
  • 00:06:36
people felt like they had absolutely no
  • 00:06:38
    control over a microscopic organism
  • 00:06:40
harming or killing them. Another reason
  • 00:06:44
is that many of the control measures
  • 00:06:46
that the governments took and forced
  • 00:06:48
businesses and individuals to take as
  • 00:06:51
well as these many painful consequences
  • 00:06:55
that came from that. It's a very painful
  • 00:06:57
state of being to live like you have no
  • 00:07:00
control over the life you are living.
  • 00:07:03
Five, people lost their trust. So many
  • 00:07:06
people in the world now have no trust
  • 00:07:07
for anything. I've already explained how
  • 00:07:09
CO caused a loss of trust for the
  • 00:07:11
government. But that isn't the only
  • 00:07:12
thing that they lost trust in. CO caused
  • 00:07:15
people to lose their trust in the media,
  • 00:07:17
in doctors, in businesses, in schools,
  • 00:07:21
in friends, in family, in neighbors, in
  • 00:07:23
their own bodies, and in the universe,
  • 00:07:26
andor what people call God. Right? The
  • 00:07:29
COVID crisis was a crisis of feeling
  • 00:07:31
like you could not rely on anything to
  • 00:07:34
act in your best interests. that trust
  • 00:07:37
never came back. The result is that
  • 00:07:39
humanity right now is in a very deep
  • 00:07:42
state of distrust. Six, because of all
  • 00:07:45
    of these points I've mentioned
  • 00:07:47
previously, co caused humanity to slip
  • 00:07:49
    into more extreme protector
  • 00:07:50
personalities. We all have these aspects
  • 00:07:52
of ourselves. You could call them sides
  • 00:07:54
to your personality or parts of your
  • 00:07:56
personality that are in charge of
  • 00:07:57
keeping us safe. We adapt to specific
  • 00:08:01
unsafeties in our life by developing
  • 00:08:02
these aspects of ourselves. But our
  • 00:08:04
protective personalities are out for one
  • 00:08:06
thing, our own safety and our own best
  • 00:08:08
interests. Because of this and because
  • 00:08:10
of the way they tend to show up in the
  • 00:08:12
world, they create more unsafety for
  • 00:08:14
other people. This brings about a kind
  • 00:08:16
    of spiral whereby one person's
  • 00:08:18
    protective personality causes the
  • 00:08:20
    protector personality of another person
  • 00:08:22
to come up and flare up when a big
  • 00:08:24
unsafety happens like the COVID crisis.
  • 00:08:27
And this process is amplified big time
  • 00:08:30
and pretty soon we are living in a
  • 00:08:32
deeply inflamed world where everyone is
  • 00:08:35
    trying to protect themselves from
  • 00:08:37
everything and everyone else. Since co
  • 00:08:40
people are really and I mean really
  • 00:08:42
stuck in their protector personas and
  • 00:08:44
the world has become a much harsher,
  • 00:08:46
    colder, more painful and more
  • 00:08:48
narcissistic place to be because of it.
  • 00:08:51
Seven, co caused people to slip deep
  • 00:08:54
    into uncertainty. Uncertainty is a
  • 00:08:56
really painful thing for the human
  • 00:08:58
psyche. Not just the psyche, the whole
  • 00:09:00
human system. The crisis itself came
  • 00:09:03
with so much uncertainty. Not knowing
  • 00:09:05
what was right or wrong to do. Not
  • 00:09:07
knowing if you had the correct
  • 00:09:08
    information. Not knowing how long
  • 00:09:10
lockdowns are going to last. Not knowing
  • 00:09:12
if people would be okay or not or live
  • 00:09:14
or die. Not knowing how things would
  • 00:09:16
turn out. Not knowing if you would see
  • 00:09:18
people that you were separated from ever
  • 00:09:19
again. Not knowing if you had job
  • 00:09:22
security. Not knowing if there would
  • 00:09:23
ever be an end to the crisis. Not
  • 00:09:25
knowing if life would ever return to
  • 00:09:27
normal or would never return to normal
  • 00:09:29
again. The COVID crisis made tomorrow
  • 00:09:31
totally uncertain. This has made it so
  • 00:09:34
that people feel no control over the
  • 00:09:36
future and as if they cannot plan for
  • 00:09:37
the future. And now that humanity has
  • 00:09:40
had an experience like this, what it's
  • 00:09:42
taught humanity is that they can always
  • 00:09:45
be blindsided by something bad. This
  • 00:09:47
makes the future feel very uncertain for
  • 00:09:50
everyone who's living today. and in a
  • 00:09:52
really bad way. People are deep in the
  • 00:09:54
angst of this uncertainty. Very few
  • 00:09:56
people feel certain that the future will
  • 00:09:58
be good. Living with this kind of
  • 00:10:00
uncertainty and even for many people
  • 00:10:03
quite frankly doom about the future is
  • 00:10:06
tormenting. People in today's world are
  • 00:10:08
    coping with this
  • 00:10:10
    psychological/eotional pain in lots of
  • 00:10:12
detrimental ways as well. Eight major
  • 00:10:16
effects to the economy. Now, this is
  • 00:10:18
something that's not often talked about.
  • 00:10:19
People don't realize just how much of a
  • 00:10:21
bomb COVID was to the economy. It's been
  • 00:10:24
    largely devastating to global economics.
  • 00:10:26
    There has been recession, unemployment,
  • 00:10:28
    and inflation. Some people's financial
  • 00:10:30
lives, especially if they worked in an
  • 00:10:32
industry that was directly affected by
  • 00:10:33
    COVID measures, were completely
  • 00:10:35
    destroyed. Economic recovery, much less
  • 00:10:37
economic growth, is in fact proving very
  • 00:10:40
difficult to attain. Nine. CO really
  • 00:10:43
warped people's sense of time. During
  • 00:10:44
the crisis itself, people experienced it
  • 00:10:46
like people often experience a trauma.
  • 00:10:48
as one big blur. This was compounded by
  • 00:10:51
the fact that many of the things that
  • 00:10:53
cause a person to be able to track and
  • 00:10:55
relate to time, things like routines or
  • 00:10:57
changes or clocking into and out of a
  • 00:11:00
    job or celebrating holidays were
  • 00:11:02
suddenly just gone. This was compounded
  • 00:11:04
by how surreal everything felt to people
  • 00:11:07
as life as they knew it suddenly
  • 00:11:09
    changed. A surrealness that quite
  • 00:11:12
frankly is not totally gone. Co
  • 00:11:14
disoriented people. It messed with every
  • 00:11:16
different way that a human being relates
  • 00:11:18
to time. And warping of time means
  • 00:11:20
trouble with memory as well. And people
  • 00:11:22
are still experiencing this. 10. Co did
  • 00:11:26
not bring people closer. It ruptured
  • 00:11:29
    human connection and relationships.
  • 00:11:31
    Human beings are a relationally
  • 00:11:33
    dependent species. Humans have
  • 00:11:35
dependency needs. If you want to learn
  • 00:11:37
more about this, you can watch my video
  • 00:11:38
    that's titled dependency needs. The
  • 00:11:40
thing that no one will accept that they
  • 00:11:42
have. The COVID crisis absolutely wre
  • 00:11:45
havoc to people because of this. From
  • 00:11:47
all the interpersonal conflict it caused
  • 00:11:49
to loss of relationships altogether to
  • 00:11:51
    social separation to quarantine to
  • 00:11:54
    social distancing to fearing proximity
  • 00:11:56
with one another. It made people deeply
  • 00:11:58
lonely. It made people feel detached and
  • 00:12:01
disconnected. It made people fear each
  • 00:12:03
other. It decreased social support. It
  • 00:12:06
affected the way that people enter into
  • 00:12:08
relationships with each other. It has
  • 00:12:10
    negatively affected the way that
  • 00:12:11
children have developed socially. It has
  • 00:12:15
    normalized people to interacting via
  • 00:12:18
technology rather than in person. Co was
  • 00:12:21
    socially traumatizing. There's no way
  • 00:12:23
around that. It made relationships worse
  • 00:12:25
and it made people worse at
  • 00:12:27
relationships and people now have to
  • 00:12:29
integrate and heal from all of that
  • 00:12:30
trauma. We need to find a way to
  • 00:12:32
    essentially come back together. And
  • 00:12:34
because of all of this trauma, people
  • 00:12:36
are in a far worse state of mental
  • 00:12:39
health. Right now, it's still the case.
  • 00:12:42
You see increased rates of anxiety,
  • 00:12:43
    depression, stress, PTSD, suicidality,
  • 00:12:46
and other forms of emotional distress in
  • 00:12:48
the world today. Co also worsened
  • 00:12:51
equality by decreasing the many divides
  • 00:12:52
that existed in terms of gender, in
  • 00:12:54
terms of labor market, health care
  • 00:12:56
    access, economics, and race.
  • 00:13:01
This also decreases people's sense of
  • 00:13:03
being mentally and emotionally okay in
  • 00:13:05
the world. 11. In this same vein, co
  • 00:13:08
contributed to a big push back on
  • 00:13:10
globalization. In essence, it created a
  • 00:13:13
    conscious and very unconscious swing
  • 00:13:15
    towards nationalism. It has caused
  • 00:13:17
    countries, both governments and citizens
  • 00:13:19
to go in the direction of erecting
  • 00:13:20
    barriers and separations between
  • 00:13:22
    themselves and others. Things like
  • 00:13:25
    multilateralism, exchange of trade
  • 00:13:27
goods, travel, exchange of ideas between
  • 00:13:29
people, and immigration are under a
  • 00:13:31
    progressive crackdown. And this is
  • 00:13:33
changing the human experience on Earth
  • 00:13:35
in many really negative ways. As with
  • 00:13:38
anything, in a world of contrast where
  • 00:13:41
    positives come from negatives and
  • 00:13:42
negatives come from positives, there are
  • 00:13:44
positives that have generated from the
  • 00:13:46
COVID crisis. This could be its own
  • 00:13:49
    separate discussion. And some
  • 00:13:51
    individuals experienced positive changes
  • 00:13:52
in their life as well during CO. But if
  • 00:13:55
you're feeling like things went south in
  • 00:13:57
2020 and haven't gotten back to normal,
  • 00:13:59
stop wondering if you're crazy. You
  • 00:14:01
aren't crazy. You're just living in
  • 00:14:04
    today's major
  • 00:14:05
    gaslight. Have a good week.
