00:00:00
with Grand Theft Auto 6 supposedly being
00:00:02
just around the corner it's safe to
00:00:03
assume that the next rendition of Grand
00:00:05
Theft Auto online is probably not that
00:00:07
far away either in today's video we're
00:00:09
going to take a look at the eight things
00:00:11
that GTA online needs to do better at
00:00:13
for GTA 6 and explore how Rockstar can
00:00:16
and potentially will fix some of the
00:00:18
issues that plague the current GTA
00:00:20
online model but before we get into the
00:00:22
video you guys may know that I've been
00:00:24
working with cinch gaming they make
00:00:25
custom controllers I also work with
00:00:27
their sister company alt Customs which
00:00:29
is for custom keyboards and stuff like
00:00:31
that but they also have another company
00:00:33
which is called a assist now this is a
00:00:35
healthier alternative to energy drinks
00:00:38
personally I absolutely love the hinch
00:00:39
berry flavor and all you need is one
00:00:42
very small scoop of this in a bottle of
00:00:44
water or in their custom Shaker and you
00:00:46
get yourself honestly a lovely tasting
00:00:48
drink so if you want to support the
00:00:49
channel using any of the affiliate links
00:00:51
for any of their three businesses down
00:00:53
below it's probably one of the best ways
00:00:54
to do it right now back to the video so
00:00:56
the first thing that GTA 6's online
00:00:59
component needs a better way to manage
00:01:01
is the peer-to-peer model currently GTA
00:01:03
online works by using servers to match
00:01:06
players in lobbies this is otherwise
00:01:08
known as server matchmaking and once the
00:01:11
players are connected to each other the
00:01:13
gaml uses the peer-to-peer system where
00:01:15
essentially everyone's consoles are
00:01:17
connected to each other now there are
00:01:19
some benefits to this reduced latency
00:01:22
cheaper operational costs and the lower
00:01:24
likelihood of servers going down it's
00:01:27
actually surprisingly robust but it's
00:01:29
it's also very outdated and it also
00:01:32
comes with some major issues firstly we
00:01:35
have the security concerns this is far
00:01:37
less secure than server-based gaming as
00:01:40
in the past people have been able to use
00:01:41
exploits to gain access to people's IP
00:01:44
information by accessing the session
00:01:46
details secondly we have stability all
00:01:49
it takes is a few unstable Connections
00:01:51
in the lobby and it can cause a myriad
00:01:53
of issues with gameplay smoothness now
00:01:55
Rockstar's parent company take to
00:01:57
interactive filed a patent for server
00:01:58
meshing with the map would be divided
00:02:00
into separate lobbies and we can assume
00:02:02
that this is probably going to be used
00:02:04
for GTA 6 but from this pattern it does
00:02:07
appear that Rockstar still going to be
00:02:08
using the peer-to-peer system we can at
00:02:10
least hope it's implemented better and
00:02:13
there are some backup precautions to
00:02:14
make it run operationally more smooth
00:02:17
the next thing that online needs is the
00:02:18
ability to soft RP now when I say soft
00:02:21
RP I mean a nice Middle Ground between
00:02:24
one-onone death matches and of course
00:02:27
full RP of having full-time jobs
00:02:29
essentially Rockstar need to give us
00:02:31
some elements of role playing and the
00:02:33
ability to do stuff in online that feels
00:02:35
relatively normal design our Apartments
00:02:38
customize our characters builds give our
00:02:40
characters a bit of a backstory and
00:02:42
allow the characters to feel a little
00:02:44
bit more convincing the reason why games
00:02:46
like Sims and enoy have retained such
00:02:49
high interest is due to the
00:02:50
implementation of believable
00:02:52
customizable worlds and characters now
00:02:55
chill in the comments I see you I'm not
00:02:57
suggesting that GTA online becomes
00:03:00
anything like the Sims or Eno but if
00:03:02
we're having an open world crime Sim
00:03:03
experience at least allow us to spend
00:03:05
that in-game money in a believable
00:03:07
manner let us buy houses not just
00:03:10
Apartments but actual houses let us have
00:03:13
boats on a dock at our houses let us
00:03:16
maybe even live aboard our boats or buy
00:03:18
in-game furniture for our houses these
00:03:20
are probably really bad examples and I'm
00:03:23
fully aware of that but essentially
00:03:25
clothes vehicles and apartments
00:03:26
shouldn't be the limit of a Leisure
00:03:28
spending in GTA online and big love to
00:03:31
12th hour for letting me use these clips
00:03:32
for this video now talking about making
00:03:34
the game feel more real this brings us
00:03:36
on to our next talking point and when I
00:03:39
say talking point I mean talking point
00:03:41
our characters need to have a voice even
00:03:44
if it's not a huge catalog of dialogue
00:03:46
the ability to interact with NPCs
00:03:49
strangers and the world around us will
00:03:51
help sell GTA online as a living and
00:03:53
breathing environment being able to
00:03:55
choose our character's voice temperament
00:03:57
gender build and size will help make our
00:04:00
experience a little bit more personal
00:04:02
and this brings us on to another issue
00:04:04
and this one's quite divisive but
00:04:06
futuristic Vehicles now don't get me
00:04:08
wrong the mark to oppressor is useful
00:04:10
for traveling around the map but it
00:04:12
absolutely destroys immersion Rockstar
00:04:14
need to create a system where we can
00:04:16
have Grassroots lobbies alongside these
00:04:18
futuristic lobbies this is one of the
00:04:20
reasons that Red Dead Redemption 2 feels
00:04:22
kind of cool if you take a break from
00:04:24
GTA online and go back and play Red Dead
00:04:26
online I think I speak for a lot of
00:04:28
people when I say some sometimes you
00:04:30
just want to join GTA online and not
00:04:32
have to worry about random Griefers when
00:04:34
you're just trying to do some daily
00:04:36
objectives next we have the repetitive
00:04:38
Mission structures don't get me wrong
00:04:40
Rockstar are really creative in the way
00:04:42
that they Implement new DLCs in GTA
00:04:45
online but the same structure of go here
00:04:47
get the bad guys take the money and come
00:04:50
back is getting a little bit old this is
00:04:52
something that I covered in a recent
00:04:53
video about the Agents of sabotage DLC
00:04:56
we can all agree the missions in the
00:04:57
story modes are both Red Dead and GTA
00:05:00
are extremely well written fun and
00:05:03
engaging this is particularly the case
00:05:05
in Red Dead Redemption 2 but
00:05:07
fundamentally Rockstar have always
00:05:09
followed the same format this is
00:05:11
particularly obvious in GTA Online go to
00:05:14
the place do the thing and whilst you're
00:05:17
doing the thing people will randomly
00:05:18
spawn out of nowhere whilst you're stuck
00:05:20
in an animation Loop get to the vehicle
00:05:23
stash the vehicle move away because for
00:05:26
some reason you have to leave the area
00:05:28
while Rockstar despawns the vehicle come
00:05:30
back then spam the button to do another
00:05:32
mission the time between missions is
00:05:34
just short enough to make it not
00:05:36
worthwhile doing something else but long
00:05:38
enough to be absolutely pointless and
00:05:40
then of course you start it all again
00:05:42
overall the system isn't massively
00:05:44
broken but the problem with GTA online
00:05:47
at the moment is their own game engine
00:05:49
and the structure of the way that that
00:05:50
online model Works makes this the only
00:05:53
viable way and the only way that makes
00:05:54
sense to continue earning Revenue in GTA
00:05:57
online and we'll come back to this later
00:05:59
in the video next we have ranked lobbies
00:06:03
Rockstar definitely need to rethink the
00:06:05
way that they pair people in online
00:06:07
lobbies Rockstar need to introduce an
00:06:09
option for us to have ranked lobbies if
00:06:11
GTA 6 has a 10 to 20 year lifespan
00:06:14
there's going to be new people joining
00:06:15
all the time on new accounts and having
00:06:18
new players join in lobbies full of
00:06:19
people with maxed out accounts and
00:06:21
Hardware can ruin the experience for
00:06:23
newcomers I recently created a new
00:06:25
account for this YouTube channel and the
00:06:27
disparity between all of the players in
00:06:29
the lobby was hard to overcome and
00:06:31
whilst I enjoy a really good GTA grind I
00:06:34
want to do it for money not survival and
00:06:36
going into passive mode removes a lot of
00:06:38
the actual fun stuff you can do in GTA
00:06:40
Online next we have the economy and this
00:06:43
one is very important the over inflation
00:06:46
in Grand Theft Auto online is absolutely
00:06:48
insane and completely breaks the
00:06:50
immersion $2 million for a Mustang are
00:06:53
you quite okay with GTA 6 Rockstar need
00:06:56
to close this Gap and make Vehicles more
00:06:58
accessible for the average player
00:07:00
Mission payouts should make sense
00:07:02
vehicle prices should make sense and all
00:07:04
in all the economy should be predictable
00:07:07
and similar somewhat to the real world
00:07:09
even if that means that Shark cards are
00:07:10
worth less at least we can do more with
00:07:13
that money finally we have the one I
00:07:15
care about the most Grassroots gameplay
00:07:18
when I think about a quality GTA
00:07:20
experience and what my ideal Grand Theft
00:07:22
Auto would look like I think of a rags
00:07:24
to Rich's story this whole Fast and
00:07:27
Furious government operative stuff
00:07:29
breaks away from the way that we engage
00:07:31
with the game being briefed on a mission
00:07:33
when the mission is breaking into a
00:07:35
government facility or stealing a
00:07:37
private military vehicle from a secure
00:07:39
compound and we conveniently happen to
00:07:41
be qualified hackers fighterjet Pilots
00:07:44
qualified divers and the rest of it it
00:07:47
all makes you roll your eyes just a
00:07:49
little bit now whilst I think that these
00:07:51
missions of course can be fun I do think
00:07:53
that in GTA Online they should
00:07:55
definitely have a mode where it's more
00:07:56
about you building your character
00:07:58
through an absolute Ely huge chaotic
00:08:00
World rather than you joining online and
00:08:03
being elgible to do a heist for the
00:08:04
government I'd rather have more missions
00:08:07
with purpose that actually help our
00:08:09
characters evolve in a story that
00:08:11
Rockstar build out over the next 10
00:08:13
years my character and Grand Theft
00:08:14
Online is the same character that it was
00:08:17
years ago nothing really changes over
00:08:19
time and rather than getting that $1
00:08:21
million payout for doing a mission that
00:08:23
buys us a car in the game which of
00:08:25
course doesn't add any value to
00:08:27
experience I'd rather have the money in
00:08:28
the game make more of a contribution to
00:08:30
the way that we engage with the game I'm
00:08:33
really Keen to hear what features you
00:08:34
would love to see in GTA Online for GTA
