- 00:01:07investigators with two main questions
- 00:01:10who was their victim and where were the

- 00:01:432015 just two months before the 911 call
- 00:01:47Ryan had last been heard from a month
- 00:01:49prior in September after contacting
- 00:01:52Ryan's parents and conducting a DNA test
- 00:01:55investigators were able to confirm that
- 00:01:57the partial skeleton belonged to Ryan
- 00:02:00they spoke to Ryan's father Warren over
- 00:02:02the phone your son did um it was obvious
- 00:02:05that there was Foul Play involved okay
- 00:02:08um right there was some remains that we
- 00:02:11were not able to locate okay so it was
- 00:02:14also discovered that he had been
- 00:02:17dismembered oh my God okay and I I like
- 00:02:21I
- 00:02:22said I'm I'm sorry to tell you that over
- 00:02:25the phone we did not find portions of of

- 00:02:31the lower portions of the arms or the
- 00:02:34skull oh my gosh
- 00:02:38so the location of Ryan's skull was like
- 00:02:41something out of a horror movie but that
- 00:02:44wouldn't be revealed until much later
- 00:02:46even worse than discovering that Ryan
- 00:02:48had died were the details investigators
- 00:02:51shared with Warren about Ryan's remains
- 00:02:54there was apparent saw marks okay um
- 00:02:57what marks saw saw right when when he
- 00:03:01was found um it was basically skeletal
- 00:03:04Remains What do it sound like you
- 00:03:06gameland or uh some kind of sick
- 00:03:09trafficking or what the hell Ian who
- 00:03:11would do something like that those are
- 00:03:13all questions that we are hoping to work
- 00:03:15to try to get some answers for Ryan and
- 00:03:18and for your family okay police were
- 00:03:20able to track down the three people
- 00:03:21living with Ryan in Columbus before
- 00:03:24Ryan's disappearance Corey Buzzard Sarah
- 00:03:27buzzard and naira Jen Whitaker on August
- 00:03:3025th 2021 officers had defined Sarah and
- 00:03:34Jen who were now married after moving
- 00:03:37out of the apartment they shared with
- 00:03:38Corey and Ryan they now live at Sarah's
- 00:03:41mother's house what will unfold shortly
- 00:03:43is a twisted and unpredictable case one
- 00:03:46that is far more disturbing than anyone
- 00:03:53anticipated we had several calls on this
- 00:03:56subject usually Ware check it takes a
- 00:03:59few minutes but eventually Sarah answers
- 00:04:01the door hello police department looking
- 00:04:05for Sarah that's me couldn't step out
- 00:04:07for
- 00:04:08me all right sorry I had to wake
- 00:04:11you well I think you got a
- 00:04:14warrant
- 00:04:16uhhuh out of Ohio I think it's a theft
- 00:04:19War I
- 00:04:23believe okay so we have to take care of
- 00:04:26it 002 I've got her out front all right
- 00:04:30so go ahead and turn around put your
- 00:04:31hands on your back for me though he
- 00:04:33doesn't know it just yet the officer
- 00:04:35asks Sarah a question that will
- 00:04:36foreshadow a devastating series of
- 00:04:39events everyone sound nervous you have
- 00:04:41any weapons or anything in the house
- 00:04:43upstairs that I need to worry
- 00:04:46about don't I want to coming out with a
- 00:04:48gun or anything like a charge Sarah
- 00:04:52informs the officers that her mother and
- 00:04:54Jen are inside the home and they soon
- 00:04:57join her on the porch
- 00:05:01okay so what's what's going to happen
- 00:05:03well we got to take her downtown I got
- 00:05:05to look at exactly what the the warrant
- 00:05:07is for and then we'll go from there so I
- 00:05:11can it's through Ohio so they sent us
- 00:05:14over here so other sent the warrant over
- 00:05:18here we get them from out of state all
- 00:05:20the time know what I mean that was in my
- 00:05:23daughter's we we never never that kind
- 00:05:26of person but if something missing over
- 00:05:30there no no I mean take some deep deep
- 00:05:33breaths Sarah when she move it while the
- 00:05:36officer dances around their questions
- 00:05:38regarding Sarah's arrest Sarah's
- 00:05:41disposition begins to take a turn you
- 00:05:43been sick I really
- 00:05:46like we just woke up sorry okay have you
- 00:05:49been sick or no just shock oh okay
- 00:05:53despite looking like she might pass out
- 00:05:55it's decided that Sarah can travel to
- 00:05:56the police station he I'm going to hold
- 00:05:59your arm for you don't fall over
- 00:06:04okay once at the police station and in
- 00:06:06an interrogation room Sarah is told that
- 00:06:09detectives from Ohio want to speak with
- 00:06:12her hi Sarah hello I'm Megan Baker the
- 00:06:16sheriff's office in Ohio I'm Rick Ward
- 00:06:19hello hello Sarah well I'm assuming you
- 00:06:23have lots of questions okay we're going
- 00:06:25to take some time and sit down with you
- 00:06:26here and maybe we can get some answers
- 00:06:28for those questions for you if that's
- 00:06:29okay Sarah has read her Miranda writes
- 00:06:31and agrees to speak with the detectives
- 00:06:34they immediately dive into questioning
- 00:06:36beginning with her time in Columbus
- 00:06:38almost 6 years ago Sarah explains that
- 00:06:41she lived with her then husband Corey
- 00:06:43Buzzard while married to Corey Sarah had
- 00:06:46also started dating Jen who was
- 00:06:49transgender eventually as her
- 00:06:50relationship with Sarah progressed Jen
- 00:06:52moved in with Corey and
- 00:06:54Sarah a few months later they got
- 00:06:56another roommate someone named Emma and
- 00:06:59that's a little bit about why we're here
- 00:07:02um is talk about Emma also known as Ryan
- 00:07:04Zimmerman um he went missing um are you
- 00:07:07familiar with any of that okay so I
- 00:07:09guess tell me what you know about Ryan
- 00:07:12um or Emma if you know him as Emma okay
- 00:07:15according to Sarah and Jen Ryan was
- 00:07:18newly transitioning which is why they
- 00:07:20knew Ryan by the name Emma however this
- 00:07:23claim hasn't been substantiated or
- 00:07:24verified by any members of Ryan's
- 00:07:27family it's a little bit of a touchy
- 00:07:30subject my um my husband at the time uh
- 00:07:34had sexual interests um they had talked
- 00:07:38online extensively and uh he had invited
- 00:07:42them to come stay with us uh which I did
- 00:07:48not want to happen but uh long story
- 00:07:51short it did after Sarah and her partner
- 00:07:53Jen move into the house with her and
- 00:07:55Corey Corey decided to meet someone and
- 00:07:57reached out to Ryan online
- 00:08:00after speaking for a short period Ryan
- 00:08:02moved into the Columbus apartment as
- 00:08:04well at the same time that Sarah is in
- 00:08:06interrogation at Sarah's mother's house
- 00:08:09Jen is also being approached by
- 00:08:11detectives however Jen is a little more
- 00:08:14hesitant to speak with them what seems
- 00:08:16like it may be a simple conversation
- 00:08:17about Sarah's apparent arrest for theft
- 00:08:20will soon have a nightmarish
- 00:08:24outcome okay there's we have a search
- 00:08:26one for the residents too okay so we're
- 00:08:28not stepping outside we we're working a
- 00:08:31missing person's case from Ohio the Ohio
- 00:08:33Attorney General's office has a task
- 00:08:35force with missing persons okay and Ryan
- 00:08:39Zimmerman Ryan Zimmerman lived with you
- 00:08:42guys in Columbus in
- 00:08:442015 with you and Sarah and Corey on
- 00:08:49September 2015 right and he's missing
- 00:08:53and you guys were like the last people
- 00:08:54in see him after clarifying that Ryan
- 00:08:57also went by the name Emma or M JY
- 00:09:00remembers briefly living with Ryan the
- 00:09:03investigators will often switch between
- 00:09:04referring to Ryan as Ryan and as M or
- 00:09:08Emma after only living with Corey Sarah
- 00:09:11and Jen for two months Ryan was asked to
- 00:09:13leave Sarah claims that Ryan and Corey's
- 00:09:16relationship ended and Ryan never found
- 00:09:18a job which was part of her agreement to
- 00:09:20allow Ryan to stay in the apartment
- 00:09:23because of this Cory told Ryan to leave
- 00:09:25and Ryan planned to leave on September
- 00:09:2725th this timeline correlates with the
- 00:09:30last time anyone heard from Ryan I know
- 00:09:34that uh they had tried to plead with me
- 00:09:38to give them another chance but I said
- 00:09:41that I'd already given too many chances
- 00:09:43and that uh it
- 00:09:47was Cory's call
- 00:09:49ultimately
- 00:09:51um and I remember them packing and
- 00:09:56either I I went to the store I was in a
- 00:09:58different room I don't remember I
- 00:10:01just I can't quite remember
- 00:10:05um who was all home at the time I was um
- 00:10:10Corey was
- 00:10:12not and
- 00:10:14then my my girlfriend was
- 00:10:18over um so we might have been in the
- 00:10:22living room I I honestly I don't
- 00:10:25remember okay um I just know that one
- 00:10:28minute uh Emma was
- 00:10:31there and then the next he had just left
- 00:10:36okay did you see him leav like pull away
- 00:10:38in a vehicle or something uh somebody
- 00:10:40pulled up and he got in the car and and
- 00:10:42drove off I thought that he might come
- 00:10:45back because he did leave his car um but
- 00:10:48he didn't come back and then we didn't
- 00:10:51hear from him again there will
- 00:10:53eventually be troubling discrepancies in
- 00:10:55Sarah and Jen's Stories the detectives
- 00:10:57at Sarah's mother's house asked j a
- 00:10:59follow-up question about Ryan's vehicle
- 00:11:02what kind of car did he
- 00:11:05have did you have a ride in the
- 00:11:08car you never in this
- 00:11:11car okay had you ever driven
- 00:11:14it uh yes okay to the store or something
- 00:11:19or when did you drive it um to the to a
- 00:11:22gas station I couldn't get it to start
- 00:11:26again um so I had to
- 00:11:29call a a toe company to bring it back
- 00:11:33but I was embarrassed about it because I
- 00:11:35I didn't really have permission to drive
- 00:11:38it so did you drive it while he was
- 00:11:41still living there no this was after
- 00:11:43he'd
- 00:11:45left okay um were you by yourself during
- 00:11:48this my girlfriend was was with me
- 00:11:50unknowingly Sarah has just unraveled one
- 00:11:53of the Mysteries behind Ryan's
- 00:11:55disappearance Warren Ryan's father had
- 00:11:58been alerted that some something was
- 00:11:59wrong when Ryan's vehicle was found
- 00:12:02abandoned though the license plate was
- 00:12:04missing police found some of Ryan's
- 00:12:05belongings inside the vehicle along with
- 00:12:08the keys and a full tank of gas Warren
- 00:12:11had taken it upon himself to knock on
- 00:12:13neighbors doors to see if they
- 00:12:14remembered anything useful about the car
- 00:12:16or Ryan's
- 00:12:17disappearance to his surprise someone
- 00:12:20did one of the neighbors said they saw
- 00:12:22the car get dropped off by a tow truck
- 00:12:24near the apartments where Ryan was
- 00:12:26staying with Corey Sarah and Jen about a
- 00:12:29half hour later the Columbus Police
- 00:12:31Department came and wrote the ticket up
- 00:12:33and had the car at the vehicle towed I'm
- 00:12:35thinking why would somebody you know was
- 00:12:37like they wanted it to get picked up
- 00:12:39Sarah claimed that she thought the
- 00:12:41vehicle had vanished because Ryan had
- 00:12:42returned and took it what she doesn't
- 00:12:45add not yet at least is that there's an
- 00:12:47unsettling reason she'd been using
- 00:12:49Ryan's vehicle that day before moving on
- 00:12:52the detectives return to the question of
- 00:12:54Ryan's behavior before leaving the
- 00:12:56apartment Jen reluctantly gives the
- 00:12:58detective some background information
- 00:13:00about the living situation before Ryan
- 00:13:02left claiming Ryan was usually in the
- 00:13:04spare bedroom and was reclusive jyn
- 00:13:07belied that Corey regretted asking Ryan
- 00:13:09to move in with them uh that was kind of
- 00:13:12weird I guess how how weird like was she
- 00:13:15just kind of clingy that's the thing too
- 00:13:18no M was
- 00:13:20so okay I have pretty bad social aniy MH
- 00:13:23but M seem to have way worse soci okay
- 00:13:28and how I guess how was M's Behavior
- 00:13:32then excessively shy okay Jen also
- 00:13:36explains the reason for some of the
- 00:13:38tension with Ryan sorry it's just the
- 00:13:40anxiety sure I don't like to admit that
- 00:13:43I am transm but it was just weird Cory
- 00:13:47brought another trans person into the
- 00:13:50house because that's what they wanted
- 00:13:52they had I shouldn't use gender neutral
- 00:13:54for Cory cuz that's confusing um Cory
- 00:13:58had papers written up about I forget
- 00:14:01what he calls it like the trifecta or
- 00:14:03perfect relationship but it involved one
- 00:14:06man one woman and a a trans woman okay
- 00:14:12um and I didn't want any part of that
- 00:14:15sure I'm assuming that's why they
- 00:14:17brought m in I think Brian was just kind
- 00:14:21of the last straw for
- 00:14:23me uh tell me more about that why was he
- 00:14:26the last straw uh that was probably one
- 00:14:30of
- 00:14:31the biggest arguments that that we had
- 00:14:35to make him that third
- 00:14:37person uh but I I obviously didn't agree
- 00:14:42with that and uh the entire time it may
- 00:14:44me feel like I wasn't good enough after
- 00:14:48Ryan apparently moved out of the
- 00:14:50apartment Sarah and Corey divorced and
- 00:14:52she married Jen soon after the
- 00:14:54detectives take a break and when they
- 00:14:56return they will confront Sarah with The
- 00:14:58Awful Truth of why they are really
- 00:15:01there hey there some more
- 00:15:04[Music]
- 00:15:11water Sarah um I don't know if you know
- 00:15:14this or not probably not but they
- 00:15:17talking to Jennifer right now talking to
- 00:15:19your mom and also talking to Corey and
- 00:15:21there's major inconsistencies about the
- 00:15:24inconsistencies about this with your
- 00:15:27involvement with Ryan
- 00:15:30and you know Ryan is now
- 00:15:33deceased um is he's been murdered so we
- 00:15:36have Cory is talking to the Columbus
- 00:15:39Police uh detectives right now we just
- 00:15:41get off the phone with them the
- 00:15:43detective isn't being entirely honest
- 00:15:45here while officers have managed to
- 00:15:46track down Cory's new residents Corey is
- 00:15:49proving less than enthusiastic about the
- 00:15:51prospect of speaking with officers
- 00:15:54you're not in any trouble I don't have
- 00:15:55an arrest warrant nothing like that Cory
- 00:15:57okay we just want to talk with you cuz
- 00:15:59your name was brought up as a witness in
- 00:16:01a case work a homicide homicide a
- 00:16:04homicide I have not I don't recall
- 00:16:06witnessing any homicides okay we're just
- 00:16:08wanting to talk that's it okay that's it
- 00:16:12I'm not I haven't lied to you at all uh
- 00:16:14Corey okay it's about
- 00:16:16Ryan I don't know who Ryan is Ryan lived
- 00:16:18with you for a while Emma he also went
- 00:16:22by Emma okay he was a roommate for a
- 00:16:25while okay okay that's what we're here
- 00:16:27to talk to you about uh not without
- 00:16:29counsel okay do you have an attorney on
- 00:16:31hand yes okay do you think they would
- 00:16:34meet us down there can we make an
- 00:16:36appointment I'd rather get this done
- 00:16:38today I don't really think I have to
- 00:16:41work on your time while the officer
- 00:16:43speaking with Cory of once again hit a
- 00:16:45dead end those with Sarah begin to lay
- 00:16:47out some of the evidence I mean this is
- 00:16:51um a bad
- 00:16:53situation um we really need to know what
- 00:16:55happened with the car we have we have
- 00:16:58DNA
- 00:17:00evidence um were able to track down your
- 00:17:03car the one that you used to
- 00:17:05own um the time of this
- 00:17:09incident we uh were able to track down
- 00:17:11the current owner and we're able to
- 00:17:13examine it so we have major something
- 00:17:16happened uh in that apartment the
- 00:17:19weekend that you dropped Corey off with
- 00:17:22that girl in Columbus the evidence the
- 00:17:25detective is referring to are Reddish
- 00:17:27stains discovered on the car liner of
- 00:17:29Sarah's vehicle though she'd sold it
- 00:17:32they found the new owners in July 2021
- 00:17:34and conducted tests inside the trunk the
- 00:17:37stains produced presumptive positive
- 00:17:40results for suspected blood earlier
- 00:17:42Sarah had claimed that Cory hadn't been
- 00:17:44home the weekend Ryan moved out because
- 00:17:46Corey was with another woman in fact
- 00:17:49Sarah had been the one to drive Cory and
- 00:17:51the woman to a hotel investigators spoke
- 00:17:54with the woman and confirmed that Cory
- 00:17:56was nowhere near the apartment where
- 00:17:57Ryan was last scene while Corey may
- 00:18:00still prove to be an important witness
- 00:18:02to the events leading to Ryan's death
- 00:18:04Sarah and Jen appear to be the last
- 00:18:06known people to see Ryan so please just
- 00:18:09tell me the truth what
- 00:18:11happened Cory's given a whole another
- 00:18:14version of what you just
- 00:18:17said please just please tell me the
- 00:18:21truth I'm not comfortable talking about
- 00:18:25this I me we have was it ancient
- 00:18:29yeah I don't I don't know what was an
- 00:18:32accident with Ryan I didn't even know
- 00:18:36that he was dead Sarah come on yes Sarah
- 00:18:41Sarah please that I can talk to well I
- 00:18:43you can talk to
- 00:18:45us I just want I just want the truth the
- 00:18:48other officers also confront Jen with
- 00:18:50the news of Ryan's death we're trying to
- 00:18:52find Emma and um we were somewhat
- 00:18:55successful in that okay wait what
- 00:18:59somewhat mhm what leads that's we need
- 00:19:03you to fill in the gaps because whatever
- 00:19:06happened to Emma happened in the
- 00:19:08apartment where you guys stayed at and
- 00:19:11we've recovered evidence from the
- 00:19:13apartment we recovered evidence from
- 00:19:15Sarah's car right blood wait whoa what
- 00:19:19mhm blood from the trunk of the car
- 00:19:22blood from the apartment by the bathtub
- 00:19:24where in part of Emma's body with this
- 00:19:29even though they'd all moved out by
- 00:19:30early
- 00:19:312016 investigators were able to access
- 00:19:34the apartment where Sarah Jen Corey and
- 00:19:36Ryan had once lived in July 2021 a month
- 00:19:41before they spoke with JY and Sarah
- 00:19:43authorities visited the apartment and
- 00:19:45asked the current residents to leave
- 00:19:46while they conducted tests throughout
- 00:19:48the building under close examination
- 00:19:51several areas in the bathroom reacted to
- 00:19:53a chemical reagent indicating latent
- 00:19:55blood residue including the bathroom
- 00:19:58floor and the cabinet no way no way she
- 00:20:01had anything to do with any of that she
- 00:20:03did no there's no way tell me
- 00:20:07why
- 00:20:09it's the Google searches the the the
- 00:20:11Deep Dives that we did the stuff that
- 00:20:13she was into at least right painting
- 00:20:16with blood likeing drinking the blood
- 00:20:19and then the searches that she did on
- 00:20:20her Android phone I I don't know I don't
- 00:20:23know about any of the blood stuff while
- 00:20:26this comment about painting with blood
- 00:20:27will be explained of eventually
- 00:20:29investigators won't have the chance to
- 00:20:31ask Sarah about it just yet because she
- 00:20:33immediately throws a wrench into their
- 00:20:35plans SAR a lawyer I can talk to that
- 00:20:39wasn't my rights right well that's your
- 00:20:42decision I we don't we don't advise on
- 00:20:46that but all we're asking is for the
- 00:20:48truth I don't I don't know what to
- 00:20:53say the truth maybe I've said what I
- 00:20:56what I remember and you're telling me
- 00:20:59that's the truth that's what I remember
- 00:21:01this is going to be your only time to
- 00:21:03talk to me and
- 00:21:07Megan after this we we were not allowed
- 00:21:10to help so what happens to me after this
- 00:21:14you're going to be booked into the
- 00:21:16County local County Jail
- 00:21:18here I mean we wouldn't be doing this if
- 00:21:20we didn't have physical
- 00:21:24evidence that's why I was giving you an
- 00:21:26opportunity
- 00:21:31okay all right
- 00:21:36Sarah thank you once again the
- 00:21:39detectives leave Sarah alone in contrast
- 00:21:42those speaking with Jen lay on the
- 00:21:44pressure this is a fever dream I'm sorry
- 00:21:49this is a fever dream I know this feels
- 00:21:52like a nightmare now so we need you to
- 00:21:53fill in the other parts of this thing
- 00:21:54because this is this isn't a nightmare
- 00:21:56Em's dead Emma's dead 's dead Cory's
- 00:21:59dead no no Emma's dead okay did Cory
- 00:22:02have you guys get rid of his issue he a
- 00:22:05like Emma coming up Emma's not what he
- 00:22:07expected the Selfies didn't show what
- 00:22:10Cory had wanted comes up Emma's
- 00:22:13completely shy reclusive nothing what
- 00:22:16Cory expected Cory went away for the
- 00:22:18weekend for you and Sarah to get rid of
- 00:22:20his problem Cory and Sarah were fighting
- 00:22:22a lot over it let's just get rid of the
- 00:22:26problem so what happened there no it
- 00:22:30isn't long before the detectives decide
- 00:22:32to once again try speaking with Sarah
- 00:22:34and this time they will hear a stomach
- 00:22:36turning
- 00:22:38confession um Megan here has something
- 00:22:40want have something we need to take a
- 00:22:42look at
- 00:22:43okay and read over and we'll get your
- 00:22:47thoughts on
- 00:22:48that this is from your Google account
- 00:22:53okay these are your searches on your
- 00:22:56Google account that you said you don't
- 00:22:57have access to so flip through these
- 00:23:00pages and take a gander at that after
- 00:23:03seeing the evidence within her own
- 00:23:04search history showing that she looked
- 00:23:06up how to start Ryan's car after it
- 00:23:08broke down Sarah begins to
- 00:23:11unravel what's happened to my family
- 00:23:14well we'll talk to your family okay and
- 00:23:16you'll get to talk to your family
- 00:23:19okay we can work through
- 00:23:22this one one thing at a time this is the
- 00:23:24first
- 00:23:26step okay look at me I'm scared
- 00:23:29okay I understand you're
- 00:23:31scared okay they' ever got was a
- 00:23:34speeding
- 00:23:35ticket you're an honest person okay I
- 00:23:38don't think you're a bad person at all
- 00:23:40Sarah let us help
- 00:23:43you go ahead and start from the
- 00:23:45beginning okay it was an accident okay
- 00:23:48it was an accident accidents happen
- 00:23:49every
- 00:23:50day so what
- 00:23:53happened I was
- 00:23:55angry okay I get angry too
- 00:24:00and I knocked him down when he came out
- 00:24:04of the
- 00:24:09bathroom and I choked
- 00:24:15him and then I didn't know what to
- 00:24:18do I never done anything like that got
- 00:24:22scared didn't know what to do we're
- 00:24:25scared I realized I ruined my
- 00:24:30while the detectives speaking with Sarah
- 00:24:32have finally made some Headway those
- 00:24:34with Jen are hitting roadblock after
- 00:24:36roadblock I'll be honest with you I
- 00:24:38think it's been eating you up is it
- 00:24:40eatting Sarah up I mean people can have
- 00:24:43differences with people right but to
- 00:24:45this extent you know it would eat it
- 00:24:47would eat somebody up literally I mean
- 00:24:50you would be not sleeping well not
- 00:24:52functioning well you know it's it's a
- 00:24:55lot right
- 00:24:57no yeah that's yeah that's a lot yeah it
- 00:25:00it's it is but
- 00:25:04no no I wasn't aware of that I've been
- 00:25:07living
- 00:25:09fine okay so maybe things were fine
- 00:25:12things were fine until em came along and
- 00:25:15then things were fine no no think no if
- 00:25:18you want to go back to that no but even
- 00:25:22even even then no but you know things
- 00:25:25things have been fine there was no
- 00:25:28murder Weighing on us while Jen
- 00:25:31continues denying any knowledge Sarah is
- 00:25:34telling a very different story I put him
- 00:25:36in a choke ho and knocked him
- 00:25:39down did he pass out were their words
- 00:25:43exchanged he passed out
- 00:25:46okay and I didn't let go mhm and then it
- 00:25:51was too late he stopped
- 00:25:54moving he started turning white
- 00:26:00I couldn't go near him though this is
- 00:26:02the first time Sarah has shared what
- 00:26:04happened to Ryan this is only one
- 00:26:06version of the story and with each
- 00:26:08retelling the details only grow more and
- 00:26:10more unsettling Sarah claims that Jen
- 00:26:13heard the commotion from downstairs and
- 00:26:15came up to see what had happened had to
- 00:26:18figure out how to get rid of it mhm so
- 00:26:21what
- 00:26:23happened
- 00:26:24[Music]
- 00:26:25cut we being you and Jen
- 00:26:29was this when Cory was away with at the
- 00:26:32hotel okay so where did you cut him up
- 00:26:35at Bathtub bathtub what did you use some
- 00:26:40kind of song where did that come
- 00:26:44from I found it in shed so you each have
- 00:26:49your own shed there mhm
- 00:26:53okay who did The Cutting mostly me Jen
- 00:26:57on the other hand refuses to make any
- 00:27:00concessions I just don't remember yeah
- 00:27:02you do no I don't here's the thing
- 00:27:05you're going to remember these things
- 00:27:07yeah I would probably remember if there
- 00:27:09was murder and a saw and where did you
- 00:27:12cut him
- 00:27:13at again this is all stuff I already
- 00:27:16know okay I just need to hear it
- 00:27:17straight from you joints joints can you
- 00:27:21point to the I guess what you mean by
- 00:27:23joints the
- 00:27:26elbows the wrists ankles mm
- 00:27:31knees and then up here on my neck okay
- 00:27:35does Jen help cut him up not not really
- 00:27:38she wasn't feeling well she got kind of
- 00:27:42sick okay so I took over most of it but
- 00:27:46did she help a little bit at the
- 00:27:47beginning
- 00:27:48okay we were both really scared one of
- 00:27:52the officers and Jen's interview steps
- 00:27:54out of the room to take a call and when
- 00:27:56they return they have news that will
- 00:27:58flip jy's denials upside down got an
- 00:28:01update okay Sarah just admitted
- 00:28:04everything and you help dismember the
- 00:28:06body she admitted to all of it okay so
- 00:28:09fill us in with what's going on right
- 00:28:12with a car you're going to remember
- 00:28:14everything cuz so at this point Sarah
- 00:28:17spilling the beans on the whole kitten
- 00:28:20Kaboodle okay okay this is where we told
- 00:28:22you before we knew where we were at so
- 00:28:24this Amnesia that you have isn't going
- 00:28:27to work because now now you're
- 00:28:28implicated in this as well I don't have
- 00:28:30amnesia then fill it in fill it in I
- 00:28:33didn't do
- 00:28:34that I just got the phone call from the
- 00:28:36analyst that's listening in on the
- 00:28:38interview and she's coming clean right
- 00:28:40they're watching it live okay she's
- 00:28:42coming clean and you help dismember the
- 00:28:44body with her not Sarah's not going to
- 00:28:47be able to do this by herself yeah and
- 00:28:49if she said that then she's
- 00:28:52lying you just said before jarah
- 00:28:55wouldn't lie she's not lying I didn't
- 00:28:57say she wouldn't so who's lying
- 00:28:59here it's not Sarah it is definitely
- 00:29:02Sarah if she said
- 00:29:06that yeah I would remember that just to
- 00:29:08the point because you're being
- 00:29:09implicated now so now it's a
- 00:29:12lie
- 00:29:14no we just want to get Emma his family
- 00:29:17yes where where did you guys go then
- 00:29:20with the body all right let's get to
- 00:29:21this part here where did you go with the
- 00:29:24body after it's dismembered and don't
- 00:29:26say you don't know
- 00:29:28because I have to say I don't know for
- 00:29:31that because we didn't do that luckily
- 00:29:33for investigators Sarah is giving them
- 00:29:35all the answers this however is only her
- 00:29:38first confession and she will eventually
- 00:29:40share another that changes everything so
- 00:29:44got him cut up then what happens we have
- 00:29:47to figure out where to put everything so
- 00:29:50where did you say put his belongings
- 00:29:52where did those go like his clothes and
- 00:29:54his um just in one of the bags where
- 00:29:58uh we put those in a bin like a dumpster
- 00:30:02no like
- 00:30:03um like a tupperware bin oh okay and
- 00:30:07where did that go in the back of his car
- 00:30:11okay we were going to drive the car
- 00:30:14somewhere mhm and leave
- 00:30:19it till the car would start this is the
- 00:30:23real story about the tow truck according
- 00:30:25to Sarah she and Jen plan to dispose of
- 00:30:28Ryan's dismembered body parts which they
- 00:30:30loaded into the back of Ryan's own car
- 00:30:33while their plan had been to abandon the
- 00:30:35car in a deserted location in Illinois
- 00:30:37before taking a Greyhound bus back
- 00:30:39Ryan's car refused to start after they
- 00:30:41stopped at a gas station this incident
- 00:30:44has a horrific new implication Ryan's
- 00:30:47remains were still in the back of the
- 00:30:49car when the vehicle was towed and Sarah
- 00:30:51and Jen then had to move the Tupperware
- 00:30:53bin full of his dismembered body parts
- 00:30:55in broad daylight into Sarah's car they
- 00:30:59left Ryan's vehicle in the street where
- 00:31:01the police eventually towed away we
- 00:31:04started
- 00:31:06driving and trying to get rid of little
- 00:31:10things at a time along the road or is
- 00:31:13there special spots in in public
- 00:31:16dumpsters
- 00:31:18okay so did you dispose of like his
- 00:31:21limbs in different spots okay do you
- 00:31:24know where those spots
- 00:31:26are I do just stopped wherever something
- 00:31:30looked okay I seemed like secluded or
- 00:31:33something like that couple couple gas
- 00:31:38stations mostly just just public
- 00:31:41dumpsters I I don't I really don't know
- 00:31:44while Sarah doesn't clarify they only
- 00:31:46disposed of Ryan's torso and belongings
- 00:31:49the rest of his Limbs and head had a
- 00:31:51different even more alarming destination
- 00:31:54here's the thing you have been holding
- 00:31:55back this whole time with all the stuff
- 00:31:59because I don't think you thought Sarah
- 00:32:00was going to be honest about it but she
- 00:32:02is oh okay so let's do the right thing
- 00:32:04and you wanted to do the right thing
- 00:32:06right so tell us about that about what
- 00:32:10about the dismembering it and then where
- 00:32:12you went from there dismember anybody
- 00:32:14you did no I did not that's fing insane
- 00:32:17it's not insane happens all the time I
- 00:32:20mean you may not want to admit to doing
- 00:32:22it right but this stuff happens all the
- 00:32:24time so where was Cory during this no
- 00:32:27idea no idea still at the hotel guess so
- 00:32:30okay any communication with him I shut
- 00:32:32off my phone okay why did you shut off
- 00:32:35your phone I was scared okay did he know
- 00:32:39something had
- 00:32:41happened I don't think so I told him
- 00:32:44Ryan just
- 00:32:47left and he didn't ask any questions
- 00:32:50despite several attempts to get Cory to
- 00:32:52speak with police Cory steadfastly
- 00:32:55refused I have no idea what go what
- 00:32:58you're talking about okay so you don't
- 00:32:59know Ryan I don't you don't know Ryan he
- 00:33:02didn't live with you at all I'm not
- 00:33:04going to talk to you without okay an
- 00:33:07attorney present they're talking with
- 00:33:09with uh Sarah and Jen okay everybody
- 00:33:12involved that weekend we're talking to
- 00:33:14right now except you right now cuz right
- 00:33:16now you kind of look like the bad guy
- 00:33:18you don't want to talk to us everybody
- 00:33:19else wants to talk to us that's that
- 00:33:22doesn't look good for you yeah they they
- 00:33:24told me that you would say that but I
- 00:33:26who would say that my attorney okay Cory
- 00:33:29refuses to speak any further and
- 00:33:30ultimately never comes in to discuss
- 00:33:32Ryan's case with officers without Cory's
- 00:33:35help detectives will have to put more
- 00:33:37pressure on the people who are talking
- 00:33:38to them Sarah and Jen one thing still
- 00:33:41isn't clear a motive why were you so
- 00:33:45angry at him what happened that you came
- 00:33:47up behind him and started joking he
- 00:33:50ruined my life tell me a little bit
- 00:33:52about that I mean I told you the
- 00:33:56arguments Cory and I had mhm
- 00:34:01and I couldn't make him see reason the
- 00:34:04officer talking to Jen also triy to
- 00:34:07understand a motive you would do
- 00:34:08whatever you could to make Sarah
- 00:34:10happy so let's get rid of M because that
- 00:34:14would make Sarah happy right to get her
- 00:34:16out of that household sure but they
- 00:34:19agreed to leave but she wasn't not
- 00:34:21willingly not fast
- 00:34:24enough she or she agreed to leave
- 00:34:28without meaning to Jen points out a
- 00:34:29glaring issue with Sarah's current
- 00:34:31confession if Ryan had agreed to leave
- 00:34:34why didn't she simply let that happen
- 00:34:37this exact question will be Central to
- 00:34:39the story Sarah tells later did Jen know
- 00:34:42that this was going to
- 00:34:43happen no but she she was there for me
- 00:34:48sure she's your support you said
- 00:34:50that that's what support people do PR
- 00:34:53for you I'm worried about what's going
- 00:34:55to happen to
- 00:34:56her want I understand that we we
- 00:34:59understand and we we appreciate
- 00:35:02you you talking to us openly but
- 00:35:05detectives have no reason to assume that
- 00:35:07Sarah means anything more than simply
- 00:35:09worrying about Jen but her concern hints
- 00:35:11at a disastrous turn of events soon to
- 00:35:14come so what happened you got him
- 00:35:19something happened to Emma and you put
- 00:35:21them in the tub and and you guys did
- 00:35:23your thing fill us in on that please
- 00:35:27didn't happen she's filling in the gaps
- 00:35:30where you are not filling the gaps
- 00:35:33though we know that you know what
- 00:35:35happened right because it's written all
- 00:35:38over you I mean as soon as you get to a
- 00:35:39hot point you minimize and you kind of
- 00:35:41look down it's like it's like a kid with
- 00:35:43a parent I don't want to look and
- 00:35:44acknowledge that I'm lying to you
- 00:35:46surprise I have anxiety so when you
- 00:35:49started dismembering it right so what
- 00:35:52happened from there not right so Sarah
- 00:35:55started Sarah dismembering at this point
- 00:35:57in time you're just holding on to the
- 00:36:00limbs you're keeping a lookout what are
- 00:36:02you doing no no she's not cutting this
- 00:36:05body up herself that's probably because
- 00:36:08she didn't cut up a body she just
- 00:36:10admitted
- 00:36:15to no she didn't she did yes she did the
- 00:36:19detectives attempt a different approach
- 00:36:21to get Jen to talk it's more beneficial
- 00:36:24to go this is this is where it is and it
- 00:36:26shows that you're wanting to make things
- 00:36:27right you want to get things better and
- 00:36:30you're showing remorse because the judge
- 00:36:33back in our remorse
- 00:36:35because I don't know how to process this
- 00:36:38and I'm not showing remorse there is no
- 00:36:40remorse to be had so getting rid of a
- 00:36:43disposing of a body you you shouldn't
- 00:36:44show remorse for that of course you
- 00:36:46should you're still in shock that Sarah
- 00:36:49has come clean with everything right
- 00:36:52there's there's no way there's no way
- 00:36:54she did this your world's crashing down
- 00:36:57and we're just trying to help you figure
- 00:36:59a way to make it a little softer of a
- 00:37:01crash even though Jen refuses to believe
- 00:37:04Sarah admitted to the death and
- 00:37:05dismemberment of Ryan Sarah's own
- 00:37:08interview is already wrapping up I just
- 00:37:10don't know what to do because I I
- 00:37:12thought I had my whole life ahead of
- 00:37:15me and I made one
- 00:37:17mistake that's exact now it's
- 00:37:22over put yourself short I just turned 30
- 00:37:25and I feel like that's that's one step
- 00:37:28at a time okay one foot in front of the
- 00:37:30other at a time here continuing to show
- 00:37:32an unsettling lack of concern for Ryan
- 00:37:35Sarah then makes an inquiry is there any
- 00:37:38kind of bail or am I going to have to
- 00:37:40stay there the whole time there's not
- 00:37:42bail right now but that's not to say
- 00:37:44that there won't be bail in the future
- 00:37:46okay just not right at the present time
- 00:37:48Sarah is informed that the charges
- 00:37:50against her include tampering with
- 00:37:52evidence grand theft of a motor vehicle
- 00:37:54abuse of a corpse and gross abuse of a
- 00:37:57corpse okay I appreciate you being
- 00:37:58honest with
- 00:38:00us that's that's the kind of person you
- 00:38:03are thank you Sarah I hope it
- 00:38:10doesn't we'll give you a few points okay
- 00:38:13one of the officers who had been
- 00:38:14interviewing Sarah heads over to Sarah's
- 00:38:16mom's house in order to take a crack at
- 00:38:18Jen and see if he can break through the
- 00:38:20unrelenting denials this is where
- 00:38:23everything goes horribly wrong where are
- 00:38:26they though the video footage is
- 00:38:28redacted Jen is introduced to the
- 00:38:30detective who spoke with Sarah and has
- 00:38:32then read the Miranda Rights am I being
- 00:38:35arrested okay well we have some things
- 00:38:37we need to talk to you about but you're
- 00:38:38not saying yes or no well because it all
- 00:38:41depends on you so we're going based on
- 00:38:43physical evidence and now what Sarah
- 00:38:45told us that's my job I'm doing my job
- 00:38:48they're doing their
- 00:38:50job they I'm sorry I don't want to put
- 00:38:54words in no but go ahead they said that
- 00:38:57she's
- 00:38:58said she she did she was involved
- 00:39:02absolutely 100% And this interview is
- 00:39:06being recorded okay and I cannot lie
- 00:39:10about that okay I trust you she
- 00:39:14absolutely said she was involved and she
- 00:39:16gave details and um and you were
- 00:39:19involved in those details I mean I'm not
- 00:39:22making this up I I don't know how I was
- 00:39:26involved well I'm she told us how you
- 00:39:28were involved but I don't want to go
- 00:39:29into those details because if you tell
- 00:39:31me and something's different I have to
- 00:39:33go back and talk to her and try to iron
- 00:39:36out the inconsistencies hearing that the
- 00:39:38detective isn't lying about Sarah's
- 00:39:40confession seems to be a turning point
- 00:39:42for Jen but not in the way they hope I
- 00:39:45don't remember any of
- 00:39:48that I don't know why Sarah would say
- 00:39:50that you're just surprised Sarah it of
- 00:39:54course I am right because You' gotten
- 00:39:56away with it this whole time until today
- 00:39:58after hours of conversation the new
- 00:40:00detective points out something that the
- 00:40:02others have failed to notice while
- 00:40:04speaking with the officers a purse has
- 00:40:06remained on Jen's lap what's in your
- 00:40:11purse
- 00:40:14comfortable after Jen explains they
- 00:40:16quickly move on and continue questioning
- 00:40:19this time about the evidence they've
- 00:40:20uncovered a choice that will likely
- 00:40:22haunt the detectives for the rest of
- 00:40:24their careers and we found large
- 00:40:27quantities of blood in the
- 00:40:29trunk from Emma that's a clue we call
- 00:40:33them police
- 00:40:34work you know I'm not trying to be I'm
- 00:40:37not trying to be factious but uh but
- 00:40:39that's called a clue you know so I mean
- 00:40:43uh when we put two and two together and
- 00:40:45then we we talk to Sarah and it all kind
- 00:40:48of matches up you know what I mean it
- 00:40:51all matches up what's going to happen to
- 00:40:53her well I don't know it all depends on
- 00:40:56what you tell me
- 00:40:58to M all that she didn't do anything but
- 00:41:01I'd be more worried about yourself right
- 00:41:03now why because of what she's telling us
- 00:41:06and the physical
- 00:41:08evidence and the social media search
- 00:41:11warrants that we did I'm not worried
- 00:41:13about myself there's a very good reason
- 00:41:16Jen isn't worried and once again the
- 00:41:18purse comes up I mean like weapons in
- 00:41:21there do
- 00:41:22you what are you playing with in your
- 00:41:24purse yes or no no
- 00:41:27so Jen like we talked about you asked if
- 00:41:30you were under arrest you you are going
- 00:41:32to be placed into custody
- 00:41:36um I I want to before this gentleman
- 00:41:39he's a detective with the Maran uh city
- 00:41:41of Maran Police Department um you're
- 00:41:44going to be booked into
- 00:41:55there Central 055
- 00:41:59I need an ambulance shots
- 00:42:01fired how long's your hand been in
- 00:42:09that need you to respond to the
- 00:42:14scene affirmative none of ours right we
- 00:42:17didn't return anything negative no
- 00:42:20officer involved just as officers began
- 00:42:22their arrest Jen pulled a small handgun
- 00:42:24out of the purse and fired Jen was
- 00:42:27pronounced dead at the scene from a
- 00:42:29single bullet wound to the back of the
- 00:42:31head while this is happening back at the
- 00:42:33police station Sarah is Led away in
- 00:42:35handcuffs unbeknownst to her Jen has
- 00:42:38just died stand up turn around and put
- 00:42:40your handcuffs okay am we able to use
- 00:42:43the restroom again before we when we get
- 00:42:46over to the jail I'll let you use the
- 00:42:47restroom over there okay okay months
- 00:42:50after her arrest and jy's death Sarah is
- 00:42:52brought in to share an entirely new
- 00:42:54version of Ryan's death morning how are
- 00:42:58you doing Sarah feel to have a seat
- 00:43:01people here we didn't want to be rude
- 00:43:03drinking our coffee in front of you so
- 00:43:04we got you want feel free than you so to
- 00:43:07have it if you like if you don't like
- 00:43:08coffee then oh I haven't had coffee for
- 00:43:10so long it is it's a a specialty it's a
- 00:43:13Cinnabon so okay something good after a
- 00:43:16few more pleasantries the investigators
- 00:43:18clarify with Sarah that her lawyers
- 00:43:20agreed she can speak with them and they
- 00:43:22read her Miranda writes they immediately
- 00:43:24Begin by discussing Sarah's new
- 00:43:26confession in this discussion she refers
- 00:43:28to Jen by the name naira on the morning
- 00:43:31of the
- 00:43:3326th uh naira
- 00:43:37started uh voicing some plan about
- 00:43:40killing him and I did not take her
- 00:43:42seriously because she would make
- 00:43:44comments like that
- 00:43:46sometimes I still didn't take her
- 00:43:48seriously but I was starting to get
- 00:43:50worried because of how intricate it was
- 00:43:53getting um and then when she started ga
- 00:43:57ing tools like uh trash bags bleach um
- 00:44:01the handsaw from the shed uh I realized
- 00:44:04she was
- 00:44:05serious so I I tried to talk her out a
- 00:44:08it
- 00:44:10um calmly at first and then I started
- 00:44:12getting a little
- 00:44:14hysterical um and she told me that if I
- 00:44:18didn't help that she was going to do it
- 00:44:20anyway um and usually at this point the
- 00:44:23attorneys ask me well why why did you do
- 00:44:25it why didn't you call the police Why
- 00:44:26didn't you kick her out um and it was
- 00:44:31because I loved her I was so scared and
- 00:44:35horrified but there wasn't I I didn't
- 00:44:39stop I didn't stop her I didn't was
- 00:44:42problem yeah she had a
- 00:44:46rag uh that she dipped in bleach and she
- 00:44:50had a bottle of vinegar next to her to
- 00:44:54add to it when the time came because I
- 00:44:57guess they had some kind of chemical
- 00:44:58reaction and released some kind of
- 00:45:00poisonous gas I don't really know but
- 00:45:02she did the research for it though Sarah
- 00:45:04has significantly shifted the roles that
- 00:45:06she and Jen play in the planning and
- 00:45:08execution of Ryan's death she still
- 00:45:10tells detectives that she jumped on him
- 00:45:12when he came out of the bathroom before
- 00:45:14Jen then held the rag over Ryan's mouth
- 00:45:17the changes in her story only become
- 00:45:19more apparent as the details grow even
- 00:45:21more
- 00:45:22brutal um when he started making these
- 00:45:28guttural gasping noises um naira let me
- 00:45:32get out from under him and I curled up
- 00:45:34in the office and cried so I stayed in
- 00:45:37the office for a while
- 00:45:39until she did get him in the bathtub and
- 00:45:42she had put a trash bag over his head
- 00:45:46and severed it and then
- 00:45:50put that into the freezer so that she
- 00:45:53could deal with it later since her
- 00:45:55arrest investigators have CED chilling
- 00:45:57evidence about the fate of Ryan's
- 00:45:59decapitated head something they'll bring
- 00:46:02up shortly in this retelling rather than
- 00:46:05JY being the one to dispose of Ryan's
- 00:46:07clothing it was Sarah who took on this
- 00:46:09job however this doesn't mean she didn't
- 00:46:12help with the dismemberment she started
- 00:46:14to get intestinal cramps um so she went
- 00:46:17to lie down and said I had to take
- 00:46:20over um so I put the hands in one bag or
- 00:46:25no um the hands in the feet she told
- 00:46:26told me to put in a bag and then she
- 00:46:29also put it in the freezer for later
- 00:46:31because she said those would be the two
- 00:46:34big identifying factors and she would
- 00:46:37have to deal with them
- 00:46:39separately um so I removed the the
- 00:46:42forearms and the calves at the joints it
- 00:46:46was slow exhausting work um and I did
- 00:46:50not work fast enough um her original
- 00:46:54idea was to cut a everything into as
- 00:46:57small of manageable pieces as possible
- 00:47:00and then uh dispose of them that way but
- 00:47:04we didn't have enough time to do that so
- 00:47:06we just had the head hands and feet the
- 00:47:10forearms went in one bag the calvs went
- 00:47:12in another bag and then we just had to
- 00:47:13deal with the Torso after this the story
- 00:47:16remained the same they loaded Ryan's
- 00:47:18dismembered body into a tupperware
- 00:47:20container and attempted to use Ryan's
- 00:47:22vehicle until they eventually had to
- 00:47:24call a tow truck the difference this
- 00:47:26time
- 00:47:27apparently Jen was the one telling Sarah
- 00:47:29where to go as they drove towards
- 00:47:31Illinois stopping randomly to dispose of
- 00:47:34Ryan's remains including the area where
- 00:47:36Ryan's torso was eventually discovered
- 00:47:38in Mercer County 2 hours from Columbus
- 00:47:42the fate of Ryan's head was an entirely
- 00:47:45different story investigators eventually
- 00:47:47searched the garage at Sarah's mom's
- 00:47:49house where they found several boxes
- 00:47:51filled with what appeared to be human
- 00:47:53remains this included a pot filled with
- 00:47:55a thick substance hidden within layers
- 00:47:57of plastic garbage bags after the pot
- 00:48:01was emptied investigators recovered a
- 00:48:03human skull in this version of her story
- 00:48:06Sarah claims it was Jen who disposed of
- 00:48:08the remaining limbs but also because she
- 00:48:11didn't know the best way to dispose of
- 00:48:13it yet M um so we had to carry or so she
- 00:48:19she put it in the soup bin put that in a
- 00:48:24bag or several bags put put the pieces
- 00:48:27of the hands and feet also in the bag
- 00:48:29and then kept bagging it up and we put
- 00:48:32it in the shed for the time being and
- 00:48:34every time we moved it would have to
- 00:48:37come with us so that was a weit that I
- 00:48:41had to drag with me everywhere I went
- 00:48:44for a long time we would check the news
- 00:48:46constantly um that's when we found out
- 00:48:48that the Torso was discovered um But as
- 00:48:53time went on and we didn't see any new
- 00:48:55news um we started planning for a future
- 00:49:00instead
- 00:49:03um and she
- 00:49:08had she had we had done a we made a PCT
- 00:49:13that um should something go wrong or we
- 00:49:16get discovered that she was going to
- 00:49:18shoot me first as she said she would
- 00:49:21rather die than spend her life in prison
- 00:49:24the arrest came and when I said goodbye
- 00:49:28to her I could see it in her face
- 00:49:32that she knew this confession sheds an
- 00:49:36entirely new light on the footage of Jen
- 00:49:38and Sarah saying goodbye when she was
- 00:49:40arrested you want to tell your wife bye
- 00:49:42or
- 00:49:48anything okay you had
- 00:49:51mentioned the the bleach and vinegar on
- 00:49:54the ring okay and then mentioned
- 00:49:56something different was put into the pot
- 00:49:58uh lie some kind of lie mixture okay and
- 00:50:01is that something you would have had on
- 00:50:02hand or did she go out and purchase that
- 00:50:04she did purchase
- 00:50:06um it the uh the head in the freezer
- 00:50:10didn't draw any attention because she
- 00:50:13had packed like vegetables and stuff in
- 00:50:15front of it so it didn't look like it
- 00:50:17was anything this is a horrifying detail
- 00:50:21while Cory was still living in the house
- 00:50:23Ryan's decapitated head was in the home
- 00:50:26hidden just out of sight behind some
- 00:50:28frozen vegetables the detectives take a
- 00:50:31quick break before returning to clarify
- 00:50:32a few more details including the comment
- 00:50:35investigators initially made to Jen
- 00:50:37during her interview about Sarah
- 00:50:39painting with blood so art for me is uh
- 00:50:43A coping mechanism um and I know that
- 00:50:46Randy and Eric had mentioned that there
- 00:50:48were two pieces in particular that gave
- 00:50:51people red flags um one was a painting
- 00:50:55of uh of a sheep with um that was done
- 00:51:01in blood um or some of it that piece I
- 00:51:05had done prior to ever knowing about
- 00:51:09Ryan um that was a coping mechanism for
- 00:51:14everything that i' been through with
- 00:51:16Corey Sarah posted this drawing to her
- 00:51:18illustration Facebook page in June 2015
- 00:51:22titling it sacrificial lamb though she
- 00:51:25created it a few months before before
- 00:51:26meeting Ryan it eily depicted the lamb
- 00:51:29dismembered and
- 00:51:31decapitated um the other one was uh a
- 00:51:35mermaid um holding a a human head and I
- 00:51:37know that uh people thought or at least
- 00:51:41I heard that this was like showing like
- 00:51:45look what I did what Sarah doesn't
- 00:51:47mention is that she titled this drawing
- 00:51:49till death do us part um but that was
- 00:51:52also a coping mechanism having to um
- 00:51:56drag that around with me everywhere we
- 00:51:59moved during the interview Sarah also
- 00:52:02doodled a quick drawing of the saw they
- 00:52:04used to dismember Ryan The elusive
- 00:52:07motive still needs to be clarified and
- 00:52:09so detectives ask the haunting question
- 00:52:11of why Sarah and Jen didn't simply let
- 00:52:13Ryan leave the apartment as planned and
- 00:52:16the thing she said was along the lines
- 00:52:18of someone like that doesn't deserve to
- 00:52:21be out in the world to ruin someone
- 00:52:23else's life so I think think in some
- 00:52:27perverse way it was her idea that she I
- 00:52:30don't want to go so far as to say she
- 00:52:33was dealing out justice but um she just
- 00:52:38felt very strongly
- 00:52:41that he didn't deserve to be out there
- 00:52:44she said that if you want to transition
- 00:52:46your goal is to just fit in to and
- 00:52:51that's what she tried to do she she
- 00:52:52didn't point out anything she tried to
- 00:52:55be as feminine as possible because
- 00:52:58that's what she wanted to be was a woman
- 00:53:00and
- 00:53:01um so with people like Ryan
- 00:53:07who say that they're transitioning but
- 00:53:10are not really making the effort really
- 00:53:14bothered her she more commonly said
- 00:53:18things like he's a disgusting human
- 00:53:20being or the world would be better off
- 00:53:22without
- 00:53:23him so that's that's that's why uh the
- 00:53:27fact that Ryan wanted to but still
- 00:53:31looked and acted male um just really got
- 00:53:35under her skin with this allegation in
- 00:53:38mind investigators question why Sarah
- 00:53:40confessed to the crime initially video
- 00:53:42you are trying to protect Jen I guess
- 00:53:44why try to protect her at that point in
- 00:53:46time yeah that's what I thought about in
- 00:53:49hindsight
- 00:53:51um it it would have devastated me to
- 00:53:56have to throw her under the bus and say
- 00:53:59well she was the one who did it um I
- 00:54:02guess there was there was a small part
- 00:54:05of me that thought if I took the fall
- 00:54:07for her she would be okay um but
- 00:54:11thinking back now uh I should have known
- 00:54:15with the look on her face that there was
- 00:54:17no point trying to protect her she was
- 00:54:20going to do it anyway with me or without
- 00:54:21me as the interview wraps up Sarah
- 00:54:24clarifies why she wanted to speak with
- 00:54:26the investigators again I don't know if
- 00:54:28the prosecution knows how much
- 00:54:32detail um about naira
- 00:54:36um so I'm I'm basically just hoping that
- 00:54:42at the sentencing um essentially the
- 00:54:44same thing that I told both of you just
- 00:54:47condensed a little bit um will'll be
- 00:54:49able to go on the record so that my side
- 00:54:53of the story and what actually happened
- 00:54:55will be out in the end Sarah's new
- 00:54:58version of Ryan's death did little to
- 00:55:00change her fate in January 2022 Sarah
- 00:55:04Buzzard pled guilty and appeared in
- 00:55:06Mercer County Common Police Court for
- 00:55:08sentencing she was sentenced to life in
- 00:55:10prison with the possibility of parole
- 00:55:12after 30 years Warren Ryan's father had
- 00:55:16the last word uh I just know now that um
- 00:55:20you know no one can hurt him anymore and
- 00:55:22no one can hurt him now
