- 00:00:00well hey guys about two weeks ago I did
- 00:00:04a video all about everything you need to
- 00:00:06know about azelic acid what to expect
- 00:00:09and y'all did such a great job leaving
- 00:00:11your comments and questions that I
- 00:00:13thought I would do a follow-up part two
- 00:00:15answering some of the most frequently
- 00:00:17asked questions that I saw now as a
- 00:00:19quick reminder azelic acid is a
- 00:00:21prescription medication used to treat
- 00:00:25acne rosacea melasma hyperpigmentation
- 00:00:27it's also used to treat perioral
- 00:00:29dermatitis you can also find it as a
- 00:00:31cosmetic ingredient at a weaker strength
- 00:00:34in various and a sundry cosmetic
- 00:00:37products is azelic acid good for
- 00:00:40improving small pitted scars short
- 00:00:42answer is no azelic acid is a mild
- 00:00:44exfoliant so it can smooth the Skin's
- 00:00:48surface and help in fading post acne
- 00:00:50marks but if you have a scar that is
- 00:00:52depressed meaning not flat to the
- 00:00:54surface that means that there's
- 00:00:55something down deeper that that needs to
- 00:00:57be addressed and azelic acid doesn't
- 00:00:59affect change in the deeper layers of
- 00:01:01the skin medications that might improve
- 00:01:04pitted scars would be topical tretinoin
- 00:01:06but usually it's going to be procedures
- 00:01:09to improve those types of scars I have a
- 00:01:12video as a side note on TCA cross for
- 00:01:14pitted scars and I also have videos on
- 00:01:17acne scars that go into detail as to the
- 00:01:19different types of procedures to address
- 00:01:21pitted scars those videos go into detail
- 00:01:23as to the different types of procedures
- 00:01:26that address a depressed scars so check
- 00:01:28that one out but in short now azelic
- 00:01:30acid is not going to do anything
- 00:01:33necessarily for pitted scars is it
- 00:01:35possible to have melasma on the chest
- 00:01:38and neck and if so would azelic acid
- 00:01:40help it certainly is possible to have
- 00:01:42melasma on the neck and chest that does
- 00:01:44in fact happen there's also a variety of
- 00:01:46other conditions of hyperpigmentation
- 00:01:47that can occur on the chest and neck
- 00:01:50there's this condition known as Riles
- 00:01:53melanosis or a pigmented contact
- 00:01:55dermatitis that can appear on the sides
- 00:01:57of the neck and the upper chest kind of
- 00:02:00looks like melasma sought to be a
- 00:02:03photodermatitis basically the result of
- 00:02:05maybe the prolonged exposure to a
- 00:02:07cosmetic that's been there that's
- 00:02:09irritating interacting with the sun
- 00:02:10leading to this pattern of
- 00:02:13hyperpigmentation for example a lot of
- 00:02:16people who spray perfume on their neck I
- 00:02:17was always thought that that might be a
- 00:02:19trigger for this type of thing so for
- 00:02:22that reason I always suggest that if you
- 00:02:23are a fan of wearing perfume Don't Spray
- 00:02:26it on your neck spray it like on your
- 00:02:28waistband where it's protected out of
- 00:02:30the sun because the oils and perfumes
- 00:02:33they can interact with sunlight be very
- 00:02:35irritating and and potentially trigger
- 00:02:37hyperpigmentation now all that being
- 00:02:39said yes absolutely osceolic acid can
- 00:02:40definitely be helpful in these
- 00:02:43situations because azelic acid targets
- 00:02:46the enzyme tyrosinase to help with
- 00:02:49whitening hyperpigmentation and it
- 00:02:51doesn't necessarily matter if it's
- 00:02:54melasma or if it is
- 00:02:56hyperpigmentation from prior
- 00:02:58inflammation or post-inflammatory
- 00:03:01hyperpigmentation azelic acid can be
- 00:03:03beneficial Now is it going to be
- 00:03:05sufficient enough on its own probably
- 00:03:08not as is the case with melasma in the
- 00:03:10face generally speaking when when it
- 00:03:12comes to targeting hyperpigmentation you
- 00:03:15really need a multimodal approach rarely
- 00:03:18is it enough to just get away with a
- 00:03:20single ingredient but azelic acid
- 00:03:22definitely can be a beneficial player in
- 00:03:25fading hyperpigmentation on the neck and
- 00:03:27chest provided you tolerate it as I said
- 00:03:29in that video azelic Acid is generally
- 00:03:31pretty well tolerated although it is
- 00:03:33drying and it can be irritating some
- 00:03:35people find it burns instead things when
- 00:03:36we're talking about the skin on the neck
- 00:03:38the skin on the neck is a lot more
- 00:03:40delicate so you may be more prone to
- 00:03:42dryness and irritation from azelic acid
- 00:03:44in that area but all that to say it
- 00:03:47definitely can be used there and can be
- 00:03:49beneficial for hyperpigmentation in that
- 00:03:50area can you recommend you recommend
- 00:03:53good moisturizer to help with the
- 00:03:56dryness and irritation from azelic Acid
- 00:03:58so as I pointed out in that video while
- 00:04:00adolike acid is pretty well tolerated it
- 00:04:02can be pretty drying and a lot of people
- 00:04:05find that it stings elicits symptoms of
- 00:04:08itch and one way to minimize that is to
- 00:04:09make sure that you're moisturizing the
- 00:04:11skin now there are so many moisturizers
- 00:04:13out there on the market tons and tons of
- 00:04:15facial moisturizers and by and large
- 00:04:17there's not a wrong choice if you find a
- 00:04:19moisturizer you like and it's working
- 00:04:21for you there's no need to abandon ship
- 00:04:24per se but moisturizers that have
- 00:04:26ingredients in them that are beneficial
- 00:04:28for both acne rosacea and
- 00:04:31hyperpigmentation all three of which are
- 00:04:33things that azelic acid is frequently
- 00:04:35indicated for
- 00:04:37um I often like to lean into
- 00:04:39moisturizers that have niacinamide
- 00:04:42provided you tolerate it niacinamide is
- 00:04:44anti-inflammatory it has anti-redness
- 00:04:46properties it's helpful for oily acne
- 00:04:49prone skin and it's also helpful for
- 00:04:51hyperpigmentation it's an antioxidant
- 00:04:53another ingredient is licorice root
- 00:04:55licorice root is very calming helps with
- 00:04:58barrier function soothing reducing
- 00:05:00inflammation one moisturizer I'm rather
- 00:05:04a fan of is the procure rosacare I like
- 00:05:06it because it has a little green tint to
- 00:05:08it that can help offer some cosmetic
- 00:05:11color correction to persistent facial
- 00:05:13redness so that's a great option it's
- 00:05:15very lightweight but yet deeply
- 00:05:17hydrating so if you're somebody who
- 00:05:19feels that heavy moisturizers make you
- 00:05:22feel overheated and if you have rosacea
- 00:05:24that precipitates a flush of facial
- 00:05:25redness I happen to think that's a
- 00:05:27really good option the other one that's
- 00:05:29a really good option is the Aveeno calm
- 00:05:31and restore redness relief facial
- 00:05:33moisturizer it's a bit thicker in
- 00:05:35consistency and compare comparison to
- 00:05:37the procure Rosa care one so if you want
- 00:05:39something a bit more moisturizing
- 00:05:42especially to address the dryness issue
- 00:05:44that's a great option it has fever few
- 00:05:46extract in it which is anti-inflammatory
- 00:05:49and it has of course oat which is a
- 00:05:51wonderful anti-inflammatory ingredient
- 00:05:54moisturizers and also is hydrating
- 00:05:57soothing and then of course there's the
- 00:05:59CeraVe facial moisturizer either their
- 00:06:01am moisturizer with sunscreen or their
- 00:06:04PM moisturizer without sunscreen both of
- 00:06:05those are great options they're very
- 00:06:07hydrating yet lightweight enough to not
- 00:06:10make you feel overheated and potentially
- 00:06:12aggravate a flush if you aren't aware
- 00:06:14YouTube has this new shopping feature
- 00:06:16there should be a little shopping bag in
- 00:06:19your lower corner of the screen if you
- 00:06:21tap on that I will put these things in
- 00:06:23there so you can read more about them I
- 00:06:25have cystic acne being treated with
- 00:06:29azelic acid topical isotretinoin and
- 00:06:32erythromycin gel do I need to cleanse my
- 00:06:34face twice a day or is it sufficient to
- 00:06:36wash my my face just once a day in the
- 00:06:38evening it's fine to just wash your face
- 00:06:40once a day at the end of the day if
- 00:06:42that's what you like some people who
- 00:06:44have an oilier skin type find that they
- 00:06:46prefer to wash their face twice a day
- 00:06:49and in the case of acne that may help in
- 00:06:51minimizing the frequency of breakouts
- 00:06:53because a big part of acne is excessive
- 00:06:55oiliness that oil on the surface of the
- 00:06:58skin can break down and Trigger more
- 00:07:00breakouts so some people who have very
- 00:07:02oily skin fine that they really need to
- 00:07:04cleanse twice a day whereas other people
- 00:07:07uh you know once a day is enough and in
- 00:07:10fact for many people once a day is more
- 00:07:12than enough and and cleansing too
- 00:07:14frequently makes their skin more
- 00:07:16sensitive dries out the skin to be clear
- 00:07:19if you're using this regimen that you've
- 00:07:22outlined at night time the following
- 00:07:24morning you don't need to wash the
- 00:07:26actives off that's a common
- 00:07:28misconception you don't need to wash
- 00:07:30them off if you're someone who just
- 00:07:31likes to wash your face in the evening
- 00:07:33and you don't find the need to wash
- 00:07:35again in the morning you're more than
- 00:07:37fine to do that you don't need to wash
- 00:07:39the actives off as side note here in the
- 00:07:42U.S topical isotradinoin we don't use
- 00:07:45that frequently at all to manage acne
- 00:07:48but in other countries y'all do and I
- 00:07:49have a recent video comparing it to
- 00:07:51topical tretinoin so definitely check
- 00:07:52that out if you're someone who is using
- 00:07:54topical isotread no one want to learn
- 00:07:57more about it we go into the details in
- 00:07:59that video what is the best budget
- 00:08:03friendly cosmetic azelaic acid this
- 00:08:04person specifically mentioned that they
- 00:08:06love the polished Choice azelic acid
- 00:08:09that I mentioned in that video but it is
- 00:08:11a bit expensive is there something more
- 00:08:14budget friendly absolutely so as Lake
- 00:08:15acid as I mentioned in the beginning of
- 00:08:17the video it's a prescription medication
- 00:08:19but you can also find it in weaker
- 00:08:22strengths in various and Sundry cosmetic
- 00:08:25products now to be clear the efficacy of
- 00:08:29azelic acid in a cosmetic is not well
- 00:08:32researched because the research that we
- 00:08:33have is looking at the prescription
- 00:08:36strength azolic acid that's not to say
- 00:08:37that the Cosmetic ingredients are not
- 00:08:40helpful or a waste of time some people
- 00:08:41really really do find that they're
- 00:08:44beneficial for acne hyperpigmentation
- 00:08:46redness overall skin tone as I mentioned
- 00:08:49in the last video azelic acid also a lot
- 00:08:51of people find that they have their skin
- 00:08:53is less oily less greasy when they use
- 00:08:55it so those are all great things that a
- 00:08:57lot of people appreciate with the with
- 00:08:59the just the weaker strength cosmetic
- 00:09:01stuff that being said because these are
- 00:09:03cosmetics and not the medication version
- 00:09:06you really can't say for sure that
- 00:09:09anyone is the best because we don't have
- 00:09:10studies to actually prove that
- 00:09:12objectively speaking you can't actually
- 00:09:14say this is the best this is the best
- 00:09:18but all that all that aside the ordinary
- 00:09:2110 azelic acid suspension I think it's
- 00:09:23about 11
- 00:09:28for a 30 ml tube and that's you know a
- 00:09:31great option how does adelaic acid
- 00:09:33interact with fermented ingredients such
- 00:09:35as bifida and galactomyces fermented
- 00:09:37ingredients in skin care they're really
- 00:09:40popular brands will make a lot of claims
- 00:09:42which you know some of them have some
- 00:09:43research to back them up things like
- 00:09:45well these ingredients help with
- 00:09:47moisture they help improve skin
- 00:09:48elasticity they help brighten the skin
- 00:09:51they have antioxidants all of these
- 00:09:52things but long story short when it
- 00:09:54comes to fermented ingredients there's
- 00:09:56really an overall lack of high quality
- 00:09:58research and it's actually a pretty
- 00:10:00broad category of different ingredients
- 00:10:03and the ingredients vary quite a bit in
- 00:10:06terms of the Constitution because a
- 00:10:08fermented ingredients basically the
- 00:10:11ingredient you know bacteria or yeast
- 00:10:13ferment the ingredient and that process
- 00:10:15is not going to yield identical results
- 00:10:17every time different bacteria different
- 00:10:20yeast may have different compounds
- 00:10:23different initial starting materials for
- 00:10:26example soy ferment actually may be more
- 00:10:28beneficial than just soy as an
- 00:10:30ingredient because the ferment patient
- 00:10:33process can enrich for the active forms
- 00:10:35of certain antioxidants but again more
- 00:10:37research is needed so is it okay to use
- 00:10:39azelic acid alongside fermented
- 00:10:41ingredients presumably
- 00:10:43but we don't have any research actually
- 00:10:44looking at that
- 00:10:46I'll see any reason why it wouldn't
- 00:10:48azelaic acid is already naturally
- 00:10:50present on your skin there's nothing
- 00:10:53about azelic acid that should
- 00:10:56counteract whatever potential beneficial
- 00:10:58properties are in the ferment that being
- 00:11:00said fermented ingredients it can
- 00:11:03improve moisture content because they do
- 00:11:06have humectants in them and they may
- 00:11:08because of that enhance penetration of
- 00:11:11azelic acid so they may make it so that
- 00:11:12either it's more effective because it's
- 00:11:14easier for it to get in or they may make
- 00:11:16it so that it's just too irritating For
- 00:11:19You especially in the beginning and I
- 00:11:20can't predict that for any one person
- 00:11:22it's going to vary from person to person
- 00:11:25but I see no reason why the two should
- 00:11:27not be used together provided you
- 00:11:29tolerate them it's Atomic acid safe for
- 00:11:33people to use to have Vitiligo yes acid
- 00:11:36it inhibits the enzyme tyrosinase and
- 00:11:38that's how it works to treat
- 00:11:40hyperpigmentation but it doesn't affect
- 00:11:44the pigment of a normal of your normal
- 00:11:46skin now with Vitiligo on the other hand
- 00:11:49you get complete loss of pigment because
- 00:11:51your immune system attacks the pigment
- 00:11:54cells the melanocytes
- 00:11:57topical azolic acid should not influence
- 00:12:00that whatsoever but there's no research
- 00:12:01actually looking at azelic acid in
- 00:12:04Vitiligo but there's no reason to to
- 00:12:06suspect that say for example you have
- 00:12:09Vitiligo on your hands acne on your face
- 00:12:11you want to use azelic acid to treat the
- 00:12:13acne on the face shouldn't have any
- 00:12:16issue there what about potassium Azul
- 00:12:18glycinate so this is a cosmetic
- 00:12:22ingredient that is basically azelic acid
- 00:12:25that has undergone a reaction with
- 00:12:28glycine so has glycine glycines attached
- 00:12:30to it and that's thought to make it a
- 00:12:32more hydrating ingredient
- 00:12:34possibly reducing dryness and irritation
- 00:12:37now this is a cosmetic ingredient it's
- 00:12:38not a medication so we don't have
- 00:12:41research showing how it works in
- 00:12:44comparison to azolic acid in theory is
- 00:12:46less drawing in theory it's is going to
- 00:12:48be accompanied with less irritation but
- 00:12:50is it effective who knows there are two
- 00:12:52studies that I'm aware of looking at
- 00:12:55potassium as oil diglycinate one for
- 00:12:57rosacea and one from melasma I believe
- 00:12:59and they show Improvement but the
- 00:13:01problem is the product that they use in
- 00:13:04those studies also has other ingredients
- 00:13:06in it that could explain the Improvement
- 00:13:08so more research is needed not a bad
- 00:13:10ingredient seems to be well tolerated so
- 00:13:12all that to say if you want to derive
- 00:13:14the benefit from azelic acid from a
- 00:13:16cosmetic product I would not suggest
- 00:13:19going with the the potassium asolyl
- 00:13:22diglyosinate simply because at least we
- 00:13:24have research on azelic acid we don't
- 00:13:27with pad as we like to call it what
- 00:13:29about mixing azelic acid and benzoyl
- 00:13:31peroxide I assume you mean for acne
- 00:13:32because both of those are acne any
- 00:13:35treatments now regardless I never
- 00:13:37recommend mixing two separate things
- 00:13:39together and putting it on the skin
- 00:13:42because doing this can mess up the
- 00:13:45formulations and mess up the
- 00:13:47distribution of the active ingredient on
- 00:13:49the skin surface one formulation you try
- 00:13:51and mix it like say into your lotion
- 00:13:53your cream or you're trying to mix two
- 00:13:55different products together they can be
- 00:13:57very incompatible so I don't recommend
- 00:13:59doing that now that being said can you
- 00:14:02apply benzoyl peroxide and apply azoleic
- 00:14:06acid one after the other you can azelic
- 00:14:08acid as I pointed out in the last video
- 00:14:10it can be used alongside any ingredient
- 00:14:12provided to tolerate the combination can
- 00:14:14azelic acid be used with copper peptides
- 00:14:17presumably we don't really have you know
- 00:14:20good research on copper peptides in the
- 00:14:21setting of using azelic acid but
- 00:14:23presumably they can there's a reason to
- 00:14:25assume that they can't as I said azelic
- 00:14:27acid can be used alongside any
- 00:14:29ingredient provided that you tolerate
- 00:14:31the combination it's not going to render
- 00:14:33the copper peptide Tides ineffective
- 00:14:36degrade them or it shouldn't I mean but
- 00:14:38again we don't have research on on this
- 00:14:41type of thing to to say how how that
- 00:14:44impact results but in theory it should
- 00:14:46be just fine can azelic acid help with
- 00:14:48keratosis pilaris that's a great
- 00:14:50question because it might actually be
- 00:14:52very helpful for keratosis pylons or it
- 00:14:55may aggravate it so keratosis pilaris is
- 00:14:57a dry skin condition where you have kind
- 00:14:59of a problem with the skin cells not
- 00:15:02turning over efficiently around the
- 00:15:04around the hair follicle around your
- 00:15:06pore so you get a buildup of dry rough
- 00:15:08skin and that can end up that's
- 00:15:11basically a little a little focal area
- 00:15:14of of a Skin Barrier issue and not only
- 00:15:17is it rough and dry but you can develop
- 00:15:19background redness so azoleic acid is a
- 00:15:21very gentle exfoliant so it can help
- 00:15:23soften and exfoliate the build up dried
- 00:15:25stuff and it can also help with the
- 00:15:26redness but
- 00:15:30in the beginning especially some people
- 00:15:33find that azolic acid is too dry so if
- 00:15:34it's true drying then it may actually
- 00:15:37end up worsening the keratosis pilaris a
- 00:15:40lot of people have keratosis pilaris on
- 00:15:42the face that is red and azelic acid is
- 00:15:45is a good option to to trial in a lot of
- 00:15:48those patients if you are using athletic
- 00:15:49acid in the morning can you still use
- 00:15:52your vitamin C absolutely you know
- 00:15:56vitamin C is popularly utilized in the
- 00:15:58morning with the idea that you know it's
- 00:16:01an antioxidant so it should in theory
- 00:16:03provided that it works and everything it
- 00:16:04should get into your skin and help
- 00:16:08combat the oxidative stress that occurs
- 00:16:10upon exposure to all the environmental
- 00:16:11stressors that you are exposed to
- 00:16:14throughout the day um you all know from
- 00:16:16my videos vitamin C specifically
- 00:16:18ascorbic acid it's a it's a tricky
- 00:16:20ingredient it's not very stable and it's
- 00:16:23penetration into the skin is limited but
- 00:16:26that being said it there's no reason for
- 00:16:28you to worry about using it and then
- 00:16:31applying azelaic acid on over it by and
- 00:16:32large it's a good idea if you're going
- 00:16:35to use a vitamin C serum uh in the
- 00:16:38morning to put it as the first step in
- 00:16:40your morning skincare routine to really
- 00:16:42help maximize penetration since
- 00:16:45penetration is such an issue with it
- 00:16:47um and you know you can let it absorb
- 00:16:48shouldn't take you very long it
- 00:16:49shouldn't take very long for it to
- 00:16:52absorb and then you can apply azolite
- 00:16:53acid on over it now if you're using
- 00:16:55prescription azelic acid whether it be
- 00:16:57the cream or the gel depending on the
- 00:16:58vitamin C that you're using you might
- 00:17:00might end up getting some pilling so
- 00:17:02away around that to make sure you're not
- 00:17:05using too much of either product that's
- 00:17:07really where you can get pilling is like
- 00:17:09if you have a gel and a cream and you
- 00:17:11put on either too much or sometimes just
- 00:17:13gel and cream don't Vibe well together
- 00:17:14so that that can be an issue with
- 00:17:17formulation what azulic acid be useful
- 00:17:20to use in the groin or underarm area for
- 00:17:23hydroadenitis to purativa it can be and
- 00:17:25the idea being azelic acid is is
- 00:17:28antimicrobial with hidradenitis
- 00:17:29suppurativa you have these recurrent
- 00:17:33painful oils that come together and make
- 00:17:35these sinus tracts and then that area of
- 00:17:37the skin can become colonized with
- 00:17:40bacteria that further flare the the
- 00:17:43disease so anti-microbials like benzoyl
- 00:17:45peroxide
- 00:17:47chlorhexidine which is sold under the
- 00:17:49brand name of hibiclens can be utilized
- 00:17:52to help cut down on that bacteria and
- 00:17:54likewise azelic acid can be helpful the
- 00:17:57issue with hydroadenitis suppurativa
- 00:18:00unfortunately and and why these topical
- 00:18:03antimicrobials sometimes are of limited
- 00:18:05benefit is that the bacteria can
- 00:18:08actually form pretty tenacious and
- 00:18:12biofilms especially within the sinus
- 00:18:15tract and you know so much so that
- 00:18:17sometimes the the topical antimicrobial
- 00:18:19stuff is not as effective I got some
- 00:18:21questions about moisturizing with
- 00:18:22azulaic acid should you put your
- 00:18:24moisturizer on first and then as oleic
- 00:18:26acid should you put your moisturizer on
- 00:18:28after azelic acid or should you do this
- 00:18:29sandwich technique where you put
- 00:18:32moisturizer on then azelic acid then
- 00:18:34moisturizer there's really no wrong
- 00:18:36answer here you can do whatever works
- 00:18:38best for you if you're someone who finds
- 00:18:41that azelic acid burns and stings I
- 00:18:43suggest putting moisturizer on first
- 00:18:45that can help cut down on the sensation
- 00:18:46of burning and stinging help you
- 00:18:49tolerate it better and if you find that
- 00:18:52it's it's too drying even doing that you
- 00:18:55may do the sandwich technique or you may
- 00:18:57want to enhance penetration especially
- 00:18:59if you're someone who has like acne
- 00:19:01that's you've got a lot of cystic
- 00:19:04pimples and the cystic acne you know the
- 00:19:06skin is thick so you really want to
- 00:19:08maximize penetration you may find that
- 00:19:09you know it's in your best interest to
- 00:19:12just apply it straight on there let it
- 00:19:14absorb and then apply moisturizer on
- 00:19:15over to cut down on Uranus and
- 00:19:17irritation for you that may help you
- 00:19:20with the penetration can acidic
- 00:19:22help with dark circles unfortunately no
- 00:19:24dark under eye circles they're either
- 00:19:26hereditary in most cases or you know
- 00:19:28they're part of the natural aging
- 00:19:32process with age you get redistribution
- 00:19:34of fat pockets you get resorption of
- 00:19:37Bones and the eye socket actually widens
- 00:19:39but everything around it kind of sags
- 00:19:41down a bit and then you get Descent of
- 00:19:43the cheek pulling down that tear trough
- 00:19:46and through light scattering you have
- 00:19:48more prominent dark under eye circles
- 00:19:51Hollows azelic acid is not going to
- 00:19:53address that azelic acid helps with
- 00:19:55hyperpigmentation but it's not going to
- 00:19:57address like the anatomical changes
- 00:20:00around the eye now if you have
- 00:20:02post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- 00:20:04under the eye that azolic acid may
- 00:20:05actually help someone asked how does 15
- 00:20:08azelic acid compare to 20 azelic acid
- 00:20:10now these are both the prescription
- 00:20:13strengths 15 azolic acid it's the gel it
- 00:20:15penetrates the skin better than the 20
- 00:20:18azelic acid cream you get about eight
- 00:20:21percent azelic acid penetration in the
- 00:20:22gel and you get about three percent
- 00:20:24azelic acid penetration with the cream
- 00:20:27how about using azelic acid with
- 00:20:29differin in your evening routine
- 00:20:31absolutely you can do this
- 00:20:33um again you can use azleic acid
- 00:20:36alongside any ingredient provided you
- 00:20:38tolerate the combination now what order
- 00:20:40should you apply these it really doesn't
- 00:20:42matter you could do azelic acid first
- 00:20:45and then a dappling or vice versa again
- 00:20:47you may run into some issues with
- 00:20:49pilling depending on the vehicles that
- 00:20:51you are using so this combination can be
- 00:20:54effective for acne for sure and it's
- 00:20:56best if you're using it to treat the
- 00:20:59entire face sparing of course the eyelid
- 00:21:01air area and the mouth because a
- 00:21:03dabbling can be too irritating in those
- 00:21:05areas it's best to use it that way
- 00:21:07because not only is it going to help
- 00:21:10address active breakouts but by using
- 00:21:12either ingredient or the ingredients
- 00:21:16together this way it helps to control
- 00:21:20and prevent future breakouts as opposed
- 00:21:23to using either ingredient as a spot
- 00:21:25treatment neither neither azelic acid
- 00:21:27nor a dappling they're not really spot
- 00:21:29treatments meaning if you suddenly get a
- 00:21:32pimple reaching for either of these and
- 00:21:34trying to get it to go away overnight
- 00:21:35with either ingredient or the
- 00:21:37combination it's not going to cut it you
- 00:21:40know it needs to be consistently present
- 00:21:42in your skin and ideally to the entire
- 00:21:44face sparing the eyelids and around the
- 00:21:46mouth and like this part of the nose
- 00:21:49here just because those ingredients can
- 00:21:51be too irritating there but yeah it's
- 00:21:53best that way and staying consistent
- 00:21:56with it does azelic acid kill Demodex
- 00:21:59um it might so Demodex mites are
- 00:22:01naturally present on everyone's skin but
- 00:22:04with rosacea Which azelic acid is a
- 00:22:06treatment form with rosacea people who
- 00:22:08have rosacea they have a lot more
- 00:22:10Demodex on their skin like four-fold
- 00:22:12greater burden of Demodex and it's
- 00:22:15thought that these mites they contribute
- 00:22:17to the immune dysregulation in the skin
- 00:22:21with rosacea so much so that there is a
- 00:22:24anti-mite medication that is used to
- 00:22:26treat rosacea it's called Ivermectin
- 00:22:28sold under the brand name cilantro I
- 00:22:30have a video all about that as a side
- 00:22:33note but acetylic acid might also help
- 00:22:35cut down on the burden of Demodex mites
- 00:22:38and people who have rosacea it's my it's
- 00:22:40a mild exfoliant so that may be part of
- 00:22:43how it could help in that regard and it
- 00:22:46also has antimicrobial activity so it
- 00:22:47may help there's a lot of active ongoing
- 00:22:50research actually looking at azelic
- 00:22:52acids effect on Demodex mites all right
- 00:22:54y'all those are some really fantastic
- 00:22:56questions that you left on my video I
- 00:22:58greatly appreciate it that you guys
