if you're a veteran who used to play the

game and you haven't played it in a long

time I know some people have made the

Assumption incorrectly so that the game

is somehow no longer being worked on

because it transferred to broadsword

away from BioWare in

2023 and while it's certainly not

receiving the amount of updates that it

used to get 10 years ago when it was the

peak of its Heyday uh broad sort has

been doing a very good job of bringing

new and fresh storylines to the table

and they have a pretty aggressive
00:01:09
release schedule throughout 2024 into
00:01:11
2025 and they still maintain around 50

people working on the game so it's still
00:01:16
a pretty fair you know sized team that's
00:01:20
continually pushing out updates they've
00:01:22
done a ton of great stuff since it got
00:01:23
on in broadsword's hands including
00:01:26
updating Graphics updating shaders
00:01:28
adding new die packs new story lines and
00:01:30
a whole bunch of other things they've
00:01:32
also launched a new server they've moved
00:01:34
all the servers to the cloud they've
00:01:35
been doing a lot of different things to
00:01:37
move the game in a New Direction now
00:01:39
that they are the active company behind
00:01:42
it so any rumors you might have heard
00:01:44
about this game being dead or in
00:01:46
maintenance mode are 100% false that is
00:01:49
not true the game is here it's here to
00:01:52
stay whether it's got 5 years in it 3

years in it or 10 years in it left we

don't know but I'm one of those people

who have been playing this game since

since it launched and I will happily

play this game until it sunsets I really

going on but um I just want to walk you

through the things that I think make

this game really fun to play I'm going

this so first and foremost um I just I

love my Jedi character now I have lots

of different characters uh but this is

my Jedi Knight um who I have a lot of

fun with but why do I think this game is

worth playing in 2024 so first and

foremost ignore the fact that this game
00:03:59
was launched as an mmrpg technically it

could still be classified as an MMO but
00:04:04
it's not really an MMO anymore what it
00:04:06
is is a single player
00:04:09
RPG that has online components that you
00:04:12
can choose to participate in if you want
00:04:15
to but you also don't have to it is by
00:04:18
no means mandatory for you to
00:04:20
participate in the MMO side of the game
00:04:22
it is very much designed these days to
00:04:24
be a single player RPG that you can jump
00:04:26
in and out of at will it's free to play
00:04:29
you can play on the free-to-play version
00:04:32
all the way up to the most current
00:04:34
expansion or the most current um content
00:04:38
which means you've got what 12 13 years

of content that you can play through as

a free-to-play player without ever

needing to spend a dime on this game if

1 to 50 across all the origin characters

lines so each one of those origin story

content back in the day those are things

like The Smuggler storyline the Jedi

knight story line the you know the

bounty hunter story line those things

are still there um and there's eight of

them there's four on the Republic side

and four on the Sith side um so if you

want to play those out um about 25 to 30

hours of original story lines that are

unique to each one of those um Origins

and then you get into the expansions

which are sort of like single paths that

everyone follows so you've got you know

the rise of the Hut cartel um the Ravon

expansions the the um the two they did

the Knights of the um the Fallen Empire

story lines I don't even remember the

names of all the things but theyve done

however many expansions they've done now

and all of them are a lot of fun and

there are I would argue hundreds if not

thousands of hours of story lines to go

through just as a single player just

doing RPG element and going through in

plain but one of the things I always

like to point out to people is like just

beyond the you know the fact that we can

go to the Galaxy map

here and as you're um exploring around

the world around the Galaxy you can go

down here and you see all these

different planets and places you can go

Hoth belsavis um these are representing

different um these are planets and space
00:07:23
encounters that you can do if you want

to do um the combat with your ship um

there's all these different places that

you can go all these different planets
00:07:30
you can explore it is a big place there

is a lot of stuff to see and do so in

terms of content even if you're paying

to play this game for the you know 12

hours of entertainment at this point all

place and there's lot lots of planets

your origin story lines you've got

planet story lines you've got the

expansion story lines you've got side
00:08:08
quests and all the very various planets

you've got the dungeons that are on the

planets and then you have the dungeons

that are called flas points that you can
00:08:14
go do with other people which gets into
00:08:16
the second part of the game play which
00:08:18
is um if you want to go down here and do
00:08:22
group-based activity there's PVP or
00:08:24
there's um I don't do the PVP so I can't
00:08:26
speak to that too much but one of the
00:08:28
aspects they have is starf fighter so
00:08:30
you can actually do starf fighting in
00:08:31
this game if you like that or there's
00:08:33
normal PVP stuff there's Arenas
00:08:34
challenges War zones um but in terms of
00:08:37
queuing up for activities you can queue
00:08:39
up for um solo areas and solo flash
00:08:43
points so like all of these are flas
00:08:44
points so these are dungeons that you
00:08:45
can do and when you go to do dungeons
00:08:47
these days you have the option of doing
00:08:50
like veteran flash points or Master flas
00:08:52
points which give you um they group you
00:08:55
up with other people so you can go do
00:08:56
things with other players or you can go
00:08:58
do flas points on your your own and do
00:09:00
them for story purposes and you get a
00:09:01
Droid that comes along with you who acts
00:09:03
as a tank and a Healer and it allows you
00:09:05
to do the story uh of the dungeons at
00:09:07
your own pace so that you can complete
00:09:08
the storylines of these dungeons without
00:09:10
needing to get up and group up with
00:09:12
other people if you don't want to but if
00:09:13
you do want to you can go out there and
00:09:15
group up with other people um there are
00:09:17
also Uprising and operations but you got
00:09:19
to be a subscriber to take advantage of
00:09:21
those that's one of those perks where
00:09:22
it's like oh you actually want to raid

in this game and you want to participate
00:09:25
in operations then you need to be a
00:09:27
subscriber so there's lots of reasons

why you would want to be uh a subscriber

Beyond just quality of life there are

certain uh gameplay elements that are

locked behind the subscription because

they say if you're going to be playing

this much and you're actually going to

be getting this deep in the game then

explore then there's also Al this aspect

um uh the the the actual um arcade space

flight stuff so your ship and each each

origin story gets their own ship so like

The Smuggler gets a ship the Jedi Knight

gets a ship the Bounty gets a ship

everybody gets different versions of

ships and your ships have gear so you

can go in here and you can do these

missions and there are single player

missions there's heroic missions um but
00:10:25
all of these missions are space flight
00:10:27
missions and this is like the arcade
00:10:28
game so it's kind of like on the rails

and your ship has a pre-programmed path

but you're just moving around and and
00:10:34
shooting targets and completing
00:10:36
objectives along the way I've got a I've

in-depth as it's it's another part of

the game that you can get into um and

then of course there's also player

housing which is something where when

you get into player housing there's
00:11:29
your personal house and then there's the
00:11:32
um the guild house that you can get to
00:11:34
as well um if you want to go do that as
00:11:37
on top of it and there's different types
00:11:39
of housing so you have your personal
00:11:40
housing then there's the planetary Guild
00:11:43
housing and then there's your Capital
00:11:45
ships which your guilds can get which
00:11:47
allow you to um um go to as well so I
00:11:50
can go look at my um strongholds as an
00:11:52
example and I can see here's my personal
00:11:55
apartment um on corusant I have another
00:11:58
character stronghold over here and then
00:11:59
we have the guild um uh capital ship
00:12:02
that we have right here and if we wanted
00:12:04
to travel to that you could see um this
00:12:05
is a whole another espe aspect of the
00:12:07
game if you want to get into the housing
00:12:09
and the decorations and this is where
00:12:10
you can lose a ton of time because the
00:12:12
housing system is super rich super

detailed if you've ever played Everquest

2 um or Lord of the Rings online I would

say it's it's it's similar to both those

games in that it's it it is pretty deep

and if you really want to get into it

you can do a lot of fun stuff with the

housing and and it's a aspect of the
00:12:29
game that I got into late with Star Wars

republic I've enjoyed it a lot in Lord

of the Rings Online Everquest 2 but

despite the fact that I've played this
00:12:36
game since it launched I never actually
00:12:37
got into the housing until like late
00:12:39
2022 early 2023 with uh Star Wars of
00:12:43
Republic and it's super cool because
00:12:45
there's so many different levels and
00:12:46
tiers to it because there's like the
00:12:48
apartments then there's the houses then
00:12:50
there's the premium houses then there's
00:12:51
the strongholds that you can have for
00:12:53
your ship on planet and then there's the
00:12:54
capital ship as well so there's all
00:12:56
these tiers how deep you want to go and
00:12:58
that gets you into once you have a guild
00:13:00
chip you can do Guild activities and you
00:13:01
can do the invasions and then there's
00:13:03
the weeklys and then there's the
00:13:05
seasonal content and all of this other
00:13:08
stuff speaking of seasonal content like

um I believe it's I forget how to open

up the window it's this window right
00:13:13
here um there is the galactic season
00:13:17
stuff here which gives you all sorts of
00:13:20
rewards for participating um there's
00:13:22
login rewards as well as PVP season

stuff and Galactic Seasons you're going

to get um items for your house you're

going to get items for your character
00:13:31
you're going to get um pets and cosmetic

stuff a little soldiers that follow you

around like all sorts of different

quirky fun little things um as part of

the seasonal and daily stuff so it's

just when it comes down to value for

your money Star Wars J Republic is one

of those games that just it has tons of

it yes it's an older game now I would

argue that it still looks great for its
00:13:57
age but I like the stylized version of
00:13:59
this game and we could go to places like

um let's go to the fleet really quick

actually um and uh we can see you can
00:14:08
see that it's still got a healthy
00:14:10
population depending on what server
00:14:11
you're on um I've never had a problem
00:14:14
anytime I come in here and I want to

play and I just use the Matchmaker I've
00:14:17
got a group in 90 seconds to two minutes

like it's really quick to get groups
00:14:20
there's always something going on
00:14:22
there's always people playing this game
00:14:25
and so I just ignore anyone who tries to
00:14:27
naysay Star Wars republic because of
00:14:29
things like oh it's not as good as it
00:14:31
was 10 years ago or five years ago and
00:14:33
oh broadsword it's a maintenance game
00:14:35
now no that's not true that's just
00:14:39
people being negative ncies and claiming
00:14:42
that the sky is falling when it's really
00:14:44

hundreds if not thousands of hours of
