  • 00:01:56
today and the various uh Breakout
  • 00:01:59
    sessions we had were tremendously
  • 00:02:01
    productive most importantly I provided
  • 00:02:03
the prime minister with an update on our
  • 00:02:06
efforts to end the bloody and horrible
  • 00:02:09
war in Ukraine with Russia which would
  • 00:02:14
never have happened if I were president
  • 00:02:15
that was not going to happen I we have
  • 00:02:17
to make this Bingo after 3 years of
  • 00:02:19
    fallacious conflict approximately 1
  • 00:02:22
    million ukrainians and Russians have
  • 00:02:24
been senselessly killed but the number I
  • 00:02:27
believe is much higher than that count
  • 00:02:30
    schools hospitals towns and beautiful
  • 00:02:32
    ancient churches have been absolutely
  • 00:02:35
obliterated to begin the process of
  • 00:02:37
ending this spiral of death I had
  • 00:02:41
    historic back-to-back calls with
  • 00:02:43
President Putin very successful calls I
  • 00:02:46
might add and president zinski and
  • 00:02:49
my team also spoke with the Secretary
  • 00:02:53
General of NATO on numerous occasions
  • 00:02:55
and we're working very hard to get that
  • 00:02:57
war brought to an end I think we've made
  • 00:03:00
a lot of progress I think it's moving
  • 00:03:01
along pretty rapidly that's good and uh
  • 00:03:05
I want to thank all of the people that
  • 00:03:06
are here that have been working on
  • 00:03:09
it and uh we'll let you know what's what
  • 00:03:13
happens it'll either be fairly soon or
  • 00:03:16
it won't be at all in addition this week
  • 00:03:18
I met with President macron of France as
  • 00:03:21
you know and held talks with members of
  • 00:03:24
the G7 tomorrow the progress toward
  • 00:03:27
    peace will continue when President
  • 00:03:29
zalinsky visits the white house tomorrow
  • 00:03:32
here tomorrow in the early part signing
  • 00:03:35
a historic agreement that will make the
  • 00:03:38
United States a major partner in
  • 00:03:39
    developing Ukraine's minerals and rare
  • 00:03:42
Earths and uh all right oil and gases
  • 00:03:46
and we have uh great understanding I
  • 00:03:49
think it's going to be great for Ukraine
  • 00:03:50
we're going to be at the site and we'll
  • 00:03:54
be uh we'll be digging we'll be dig dig
  • 00:03:57
digging dig we must a big utility in New
  • 00:04:00
York con us and they used to have a sign
  • 00:04:02
dig we must and we will be digging but
  • 00:04:05
much of the European Aid to Ukraine has
  • 00:04:08
been sent in the form of loans for which
  • 00:04:10
they uh expect to be paid back and we
  • 00:04:13
didn't have that honor under the Biden
  • 00:04:15
Administration he sent money or just
  • 00:04:17
send it money after money after money an
  • 00:04:20
idiot bro this Biden guy sounds like a
  • 00:04:22
real dumbass knowledge of ever seeing it
  • 00:04:25
    back maybe 300 to
  • 00:04:27
350 billion dollars but under the
  • 00:04:31
    Breakthrough agreement very unusual
  • 00:04:33
which everyone said was difficult to get
  • 00:04:36
but it's really very good for Ukraine
  • 00:04:38
and very good for us the American
  • 00:04:41
    taxpayers will now effectively be
  • 00:04:43
reimbursed for the money and hundreds of
  • 00:04:45
billions of dollars poured into helping
  • 00:04:49
uh Ukraine defend itself which by and of
  • 00:04:51
itself is a very worthy thing to do
  • 00:04:53
we've paid far more than any other
  • 00:04:56
country and with most of our support
  • 00:04:59
it's been paid in military the finest
  • 00:05:02
weapons anywhere in the world this
  • 00:05:04
    includes vast amounts of military
  • 00:05:06
    hardware
  • 00:05:07
ammunition and various other things that
  • 00:05:10
we now have to start rebuilding our own
  • 00:05:13
stockpiles to be fear any other country
  • 00:05:15
might be accur the EU is not will
  • 00:05:17
provide the basis for a more sustainable
  • 00:05:19
    future relationship between the United
  • 00:05:21
States and Ukraine and th stimulate the
  • 00:05:24
long-term Prosperity that will help the
  • 00:05:27
    ukrainians rebuild their
  • 00:05:29
    country it's been
  • 00:05:32
    demolished and uh the ruined
  • 00:05:34
    infrastructure the infrastructure as you
  • 00:05:36
know is in very bad shape in just over
  • 00:05:40
one month our Administration has already
  • 00:05:42
achieved more progress toward peace than
  • 00:05:44
is EU not the other Administration where
  • 00:05:47
they did nothing toward peace I
  • 00:05:49
think understand what was happening our
  • 00:05:53
approach is basically common sense as I
  • 00:05:55
said so many of the things that we do
  • 00:05:57
based on common sense if you want peace
  • 00:06:00
    you have to talk both
  • 00:06:03
sides as I discussed with prime minister
  • 00:06:07
starmer The Next Step we're making is
  • 00:06:10
toward a very achievable ceasefire we
  • 00:06:13
hope that that can H happen quickly
  • 00:06:15
because uh thousands of young people in
  • 00:06:19
this case we're not talking about
  • 00:06:21
    Americans we're talking about ukrainians
  • 00:06:23
and Russians are being killed every week
  • 00:06:26
thousands and it's a rough Battlefield
  • 00:06:28
it's a flat piece of land and the bullet
  • 00:06:30
    only stops when it hits
  • 00:06:32
somebody and this week I saw the reports
  • 00:06:36
    and it's it's uh I don't even want to
  • 00:06:38
say what what they are but thousands of
  • 00:06:41
people young people young vibrant people
  • 00:06:43
died that's bad and we want to stop that
  • 00:06:46
    senseless should have never happened
  • 00:06:49
this will lay the groundwork for a
  • 00:06:50
    long-term peace agreement that will
  • 00:06:52
return stability to Eastern Europe and
  • 00:06:55
hopefully ensure that such a terrible
  • 00:06:57
war will never happen on European in
  • 00:06:59
soil or for that matter anywhere
  • 00:07:02
    again it's uh it's a horrible thing
  • 00:07:06
that's going on the disaster in Ukraine
  • 00:07:09
shows exactly why it's so important for
  • 00:07:11
the United Kingdom and other NATO
  • 00:07:14
Partners to make large investments in
  • 00:07:16
their defense capabilities in many cases
  • 00:07:19
4% or 5% of GDP would be
  • 00:07:22
appropriate I know that they're raising
  • 00:07:24
it I just read a an article a great
  • 00:07:27
article about the work you're doing in
  • 00:07:29
the the UK as to the military you're
  • 00:07:31
raising it quite a bit which is a great
  • 00:07:33
thing to do for your country it's a
  • 00:07:34
great thing to do it's sad that we need
  • 00:07:36
that but probably need that so
  • 00:07:39
congratulations on that I know you got
  • 00:07:40
it through after years of chronic
  • 00:07:43
underfunding there's an urgent need to
  • 00:07:46
catch up for some countries and I want
  • 00:07:48
to thank the Prime Minister once again
  • 00:07:50
    for traveling here today working
  • 00:07:53
together I believe that we'll once again
  • 00:07:57
demonstrate the power of our countries
  • 00:07:59
unique friendship this is indeed a
  • 00:08:01
    unique friendship it's been many
  • 00:08:04
years and I think it's only gotten
  • 00:08:06
stronger and we will make sure that it
  • 00:08:09
stays that way we're going to have a
  • 00:08:12
great Trade Agreement one way or the
  • 00:08:14
other we're going to end up with a very
  • 00:08:15
good trade agreement for both countries
  • 00:08:18
and we're working on that as we speak I
  • 00:08:20
think we'll have the uh confines I think
  • 00:08:23
we'll have uh something maybe even in
  • 00:08:26
    terms of uh
  • 00:08:27
possibilities uh agree to very shortly
  • 00:08:30
JD's working on a vice president and uh
  • 00:08:33
Scott and uh I'm just looking at this
  • 00:08:35
all from Mike you're going to work on it
  • 00:08:37
everyone's kind of work on it we'll see
  • 00:08:38
if we can do something pretty quickly
  • 00:08:40
but we're going to make some great trade
  • 00:08:42
agreements with the UK and with the
  • 00:08:43
Prime Minister and uh it'll happen very
  • 00:08:46
quickly so I just want to thank you
  • 00:08:48
again and please thank King Charles for
  • 00:08:50
the invite and we don't like this guy in
  • 00:08:52
theuk giving our acceptance on behalf of
  • 00:08:55
the United States of America thank you
  • 00:08:56
very much sir I heard he sucks
  • 00:09:03
thank you well thank you very much Mr
  • 00:09:06
President thank you for your hospitality
  • 00:09:08
thank you for your leadership this has
  • 00:09:10
been a very good and very productive
  • 00:09:12
visit um and with your family roots in
  • 00:09:15
Scotland and your close bond with his
  • 00:09:18
majesty the king it's good to know that
  • 00:09:21
the United Kingdom has a trueu
  • 00:09:23
friend office and it was so good to see
  • 00:09:25
the bust of Winston Churchill back in
  • 00:09:27
its rightful uh place just moment ago
  • 00:09:30
but look in a moment of real danger
  • 00:09:32
around the world the relationship this
  • 00:09:35
relationship matters more than ever we
  • 00:09:38
remain each other's first partner in
  • 00:09:41
defense ready to come to the other's Aid
  • 00:09:44
to counter threats wherever and whenever
  • 00:09:47
they may arise no two militaries are
  • 00:09:51
more intertwined than ours no two
  • 00:09:53
countries have done more together to
  • 00:09:55
keep people safe and in a few weeks uh
  • 00:09:58
we mark VE Day the 80th anniversary of
  • 00:10:02
Victory in Europe oh yeah yeah Britain
  • 00:10:04
and America fought side by side to make
  • 00:10:06
that happen one of the greatest moments
  • 00:10:09
in our history war war I we stand side
  • 00:10:12
by side still today and with focused now
  • 00:10:16
on bringing an enduring end to the
  • 00:10:19
    barbaric war in
  • 00:10:20
Ukraine Mr President I welcome your deep
  • 00:10:23
and personal commitment to bring peace
  • 00:10:26
and to Stop The Killing you've created a
  • 00:10:29
    moment of tremendous opportunity this
  • 00:10:32
historic peace deal a deal that I think
  • 00:10:35
would be celebrated in Ukraine and
  • 00:10:37
around the world that is the prize Jesus
  • 00:10:41
but we have to get it right there's a
  • 00:10:44
famous slogan in the United Kingdom from
  • 00:10:46
after the second world war wow that is
  • 00:10:49
that we have to win the peace yeah and
  • 00:10:52
    that's what we must do
  • 00:10:54
now because it can't be peace that
  • 00:10:56
rewards the aggressor or that gives
  • 00:10:59
    encouragement to regimes like
  • 00:11:01
Iran we agree history must be on the
  • 00:11:04
Side Of The Peacemaker not the
  • 00:11:07
Invader so the stakes they couldn't be
  • 00:11:10
higher and we're determined to work
  • 00:11:12
together to deliver a good deal we'
  • 00:11:15
discussed a plan today to reach a peace
  • 00:11:18
that is tough and fair that Ukraine will
  • 00:11:21
help shape that's backed by strength to
  • 00:11:24
stop Putin coming back for more I'm
  • 00:11:27
    working closely with other European
  • 00:11:29
leaders on this and I'm clear that the
  • 00:11:31
UK is ready to put boots on the ground
  • 00:11:34
and planes in the air to support a deal
  • 00:11:37
working together with our allies because
  • 00:11:39
that is the only way that peace will
  • 00:11:43
last Mr President in this new era you're
  • 00:11:47
also right that Europe must step up and
  • 00:11:50
let me tell you now I see the growing
  • 00:11:53
threats we face and so the UK is all in
  • 00:11:57
this year we'll be giving more military
  • 00:11:59
aid to Ukraine than ever and just this
  • 00:12:02
week I've set out how we're shouldering
  • 00:12:04
more of the security burden W we're
  • 00:12:07
already one of the biggest Spenders in
  • 00:12:08
NATO and now we're going much further
  • 00:12:12
    delivering Britain's biggest sustained
  • 00:12:13
increase in defense spending since the
  • 00:12:16
Cold War this isn't just talk it's
  • 00:12:19
    action that's this balancing the
  • 00:12:21
    transatlantic Alliance making us all
  • 00:12:24
stronger and standing up for our shared
  • 00:12:27
    values and shared security
  • 00:12:30
    as Britain always
  • 00:12:32
has and Mr President it's no secret
  • 00:12:34
    we're from different political
  • 00:12:37
Traditions but there's a lot that we
  • 00:12:39
have in common and we believe it's not
  • 00:12:42
taking part that counts what counts is
  • 00:12:46
winning if you don't win yeah you don't
  • 00:12:49
deliver true and we're determined to
  • 00:12:51
deliver for working people of Britain
  • 00:12:54
and America who want and deserve to see
  • 00:12:57
    their lives improveed
  • 00:13:00
so we're both in a hurry to get things
  • 00:13:01
done and that's what the UK and us do
  • 00:13:06
when we work together we win and we get
  • 00:13:09
things done so we'll do what it takes to
  • 00:13:12
keep our people safe yeah we'll also
  • 00:13:15
work together to deliver some big
  • 00:13:17
economic winds that can benefit us both
  • 00:13:20
we have a $1.5 trillion invested in each
  • 00:13:23
    other's economies creating over 2.5
  • 00:13:26
million jobs across both EC he's lying
  • 00:13:29
you guys is ly our trading relationship
  • 00:13:30
is not just strong it's fair balanced
  • 00:13:34
and reciprocal we're leaders together in
  • 00:13:37
so many areas ranked one and two in the
  • 00:13:40
world as investment destinations one and
  • 00:13:43
    two for
  • 00:13:44
universities one and two for Nobel
  • 00:13:47
prizes one and two in Gulf as well by
  • 00:13:51
the way uh and we're the only two
  • 00:13:54
    Western countries with trillion doll
  • 00:13:55
Tech sectors leaders in AI wow and look
  • 00:13:59
we take a similar approach on this issue
  • 00:14:02
    instead of
  • 00:14:17
    overregulation together shaped the great
  • 00:14:20
    technological innovations of the last
  • 00:14:22
century we have a chance now to do the
  • 00:14:25
same for the 21st century okay I mean
  • 00:14:29
    artificial intelligence could cure
  • 00:14:31
cancer that could be a moonshot for our
  • 00:14:35
age um and that's how we'll keep
  • 00:14:37
delivering for our people does that mean
  • 00:14:39
    many opportunities keep our Nations
  • 00:14:42
strong and fulfill the promise of great
  • 00:14:44
    that do always defined this
  • 00:14:47
    relationship finally to undermine to
  • 00:14:50
underline the importance of is bad okay
  • 00:14:54
it was my privilege and honor to bring a
  • 00:14:57
    letter with me today
  • 00:14:59
    from his majesty the
  • 00:15:01
king not only sending his best wishes
  • 00:15:05
but also inviting the president and the
  • 00:15:07
first lady to make a state visit to the
  • 00:15:09
    United Kingdom an
  • 00:15:12
    unprecedented second state visit this
  • 00:15:14
has never happened uh before it's so
  • 00:15:17
incredible it will be historic and I'm
  • 00:15:20
delighted that I can go back to his
  • 00:15:22
majesty the king and tell him that
  • 00:15:23
    President Trump has accepted the
  • 00:15:25
invitation so thank you our teams will
  • 00:15:28
now work together to set a date uh and
  • 00:15:30
we look forward to welcome you in the
  • 00:15:32
United Kingdom thank you once again
  • 00:15:34
thank you very much what a beautiful
  • 00:15:37
accent I would have been president 20
  • 00:15:39
years ago if I had that
  • 00:15:43
    [Applause]
  • 00:15:45
accent questions okay let's see here oh
  • 00:15:50
    God go ahead
  • 00:15:51
please than president earlier today uh
  • 00:15:55
you told me that you believe that
  • 00:15:58
    foreign countri
  • 00:15:59
pay tariffs but Americans who are
  • 00:16:01
concerned about higher prices believe as
  • 00:16:05
most people do that they're paid by
  • 00:16:08
consumers and importers when they import
  • 00:16:10
things into this country can you explain
  • 00:16:14
how you came to this belief that foreign
  • 00:16:16
governments are paying tariffs and uh
  • 00:16:19
for the Prime Minister did you discuss
  • 00:16:21
with President Trump his repeated uh
  • 00:16:25
statements of Desire same Canada well
  • 00:16:28
    he's bald
  • 00:16:29
has the king expressed any uh concern
  • 00:16:33
over the president's apparent desire to
  • 00:16:37
remove one of his Realms uh from his
  • 00:16:40
control Realms so I'll go ahead the
  • 00:16:43
first part the tariffs are necessary
  • 00:16:46
because we've been treated very unfairly
  • 00:16:47
by many many countries including our
  • 00:16:49
friends friend and foe but we've been
  • 00:16:52
treated very unfairly uh in trade uh at
  • 00:16:56
levels that nobody's really ever seen
  • 00:16:58
before and especially under the Biden
  • 00:16:59
    Administration they really took
  • 00:17:01
advantage of the United States uh I put
  • 00:17:05
massive tariffs on China during my four
  • 00:17:07
years we had the best economy in the
  • 00:17:09
history of our country one probably the
  • 00:17:11
best economy maybe the best economy in
  • 00:17:13
the history of the world and I had I
  • 00:17:16
used tariffs to even things up and in
  • 00:17:20
particular with China we took in
  • 00:17:21
hundreds of billions of dollars and we
  • 00:17:23
    had no inflation and it's a myth it's a
  • 00:17:27
myth that's put out there by countries
  • 00:17:29
that really don't like paying tariffs
  • 00:17:33
and especially to even up so we've been
  • 00:17:35
treated badly by a lot we're using
  • 00:17:37
tariffs and I find and uh you just have
  • 00:17:40
to look at the numbers but I find that
  • 00:17:42
it's not about inflation it's about
  • 00:17:44
fairness and the inflation uh for us has
  • 00:17:47
not existed and I don't think it's going
  • 00:17:49
to exist we're going to bring our car
  • 00:17:51
industry back we're going to bring our
  • 00:17:52
chips back we're going to bring uh so
  • 00:17:54
many things back to our country
  • 00:17:56
    including Pharmaceuticals and drugs uh
  • 00:17:59
and the thing that's going to get us
  • 00:18:01
there is tariffs and I say often it's my
  • 00:18:04
favorite word in the dictionary but I
  • 00:18:06
always preface that by saying now
  • 00:18:08
because I got into a lot of trouble with
  • 00:18:10
the fake news where they say uh that's
  • 00:18:12
not good so I say God love family wife
  • 00:18:16
they're all my favorite words but tariff
  • 00:18:18
is about number four or five on the list
  • 00:18:20
no but I will tell you uh it's going to
  • 00:18:23
make our country rich and it's going to
  • 00:18:26
stop us from being a laughing stock all
  • 00:18:28
    over the world
  • 00:18:29
because we have been taken advantage of
  • 00:18:31
like no country has ever been taken
  • 00:18:33
advantage of thank you very much and
  • 00:18:36
look we had a really good uh discussion
  • 00:18:38
    a productive discussion a good
  • 00:18:39
discussion as a result of which our
  • 00:18:41
teams are now going to be working
  • 00:18:43
together on an economic deal our team is
  • 00:18:45
going to be working together on security
  • 00:18:47
in Ukraine um you mentioned Canada I
  • 00:18:50
think you're trying to find a divide
  • 00:18:52
between us that doesn't um exist we're
  • 00:18:54
the closest of Nations and we had very
  • 00:18:56
good discussions today we didn't Canada
  • 00:19:00
thank you that's enough please go ahead
  • 00:19:04
go ahead yes thank you oh
  • 00:19:07
God hi Natasha Clark from LBC Mr
  • 00:19:10
President you've said you're working on
  • 00:19:11
a new trade deal with Britain which we
  • 00:19:13
of course welcome President Obama once
  • 00:19:15
said Britain was at the back of the
  • 00:19:16
queue for that trade deal where are we
  • 00:19:18
now when do you think we'll we're going
  • 00:19:19
to see that and prime minister the BBC
  • 00:19:22
has today admitted serious flaws over
  • 00:19:23
the recent Gaza coverage suggestions of
  • 00:19:25
payments made to people linked to Hamas
  • 00:19:28
does the BBC BBC still have your trust
  • 00:19:30
thank you that's well they didn't do
  • 00:19:32
well with President Obama he' never got
  • 00:19:34
is that true a lot of things done and he
  • 00:19:37
didn't get a trade deal done that was of
  • 00:19:39
any importance or magnitude we have uh
  • 00:19:42
we've had great discussions on trade and
  • 00:19:44
I think we're going to have a deal done
  • 00:19:45
rather quickly as quickly as it can be
  • 00:19:47
done we we're going to have something I
  • 00:19:49
think rather quickly we expect to do
  • 00:19:51
that okay please uh on the BBC um look
  • 00:19:55
I've been concerned about um the program
  • 00:19:57
in question secretary of state had a
  • 00:19:59
meeting with the BBC I think it was
  • 00:20:01
yesterday it could have been the day
  • 00:20:02
    before thank
  • 00:20:04
    you Jeff go
  • 00:20:08
ahead thank you sir pardon me Mr
  • 00:20:11
President do you support Article Five of
  • 00:20:13
the NATO treaty and are you concerned
  • 00:20:15
that it might be triggered if European
  • 00:20:17
peacekeeping forces end up in Ukraine I
  • 00:20:19
support it uh I don't think we have any
  • 00:20:22
reason for it I think we're going to
  • 00:20:23
have a very successful piece and I think
  • 00:20:27
it's going to be a long lasting piece
  • 00:20:29
and uh I think it's going to happen
  • 00:20:31
hopefully quickly it if it doesn't
  • 00:20:33
happen quickly it may not happen at all
  • 00:20:36
and we want it for two reasons number
  • 00:20:38
one I want to see on a Humane basis I
  • 00:20:41
want to see soldiers stop getting shot
  • 00:20:45
because largely it's soldiers now towns
  • 00:20:46
have been obliterated but it's largely
  • 00:20:49
that and I don't want to pay billions
  • 00:20:51
and billions and billions of dollars nor
  • 00:20:54
does the prime minister or anybody else
  • 00:20:56
on a senseless war that should have
  • 00:20:58
never happened and we're going to get it
  • 00:21:00
taken care but I think it's going to be
  • 00:21:01
a piece that's going to be long lasting
  • 00:21:03
do you have a question for the Prime
  • 00:21:05
Minister he trying to get him a call on
  • 00:21:08
him thank you Mr Prime Minister you were
  • 00:21:09
asking the president today about a back
  • 00:21:11
stop for Europe if the peacekeeping
  • 00:21:14
force ends up in Ukraine did you feel
  • 00:21:16
like you got a satisfying answer for
  • 00:21:19
yourself and for Europe and Mr President
  • 00:21:21
if you want to comment on that as well
  • 00:21:22
please do I thought we had a very
  • 00:21:24
productive um discussion obviously as uh
  • 00:21:28
the president President says the deal
  • 00:21:29
has to come first um but yes um our
  • 00:21:32
teams are going to be talking about um
  • 00:21:35
how we make sure that uh deal sticks is
  • 00:21:39
lasting um and enforced so our teams
  • 00:21:42
    will be talking about
  • 00:21:43
    that okay please
  • 00:21:47
blue Mr President um some experts think
  • 00:21:50
it could take more than a decade to mind
  • 00:21:52
the Precious Minerals from Ukraine how
  • 00:21:55
much should the US expect to receive and
  • 00:21:57
when do you expect to see that come to
  • 00:22:00
when do we get the we going to know that
  • 00:22:01
answer but by our being in Ukraine and
  • 00:22:05
doing the exploration and also the
  • 00:22:08
digging and taking uh the rare earth
  • 00:22:10
which we need in our country very badly
  • 00:22:13
uh we'll be doing a substantial amount
  • 00:22:16
    of work
  • 00:22:18
probably about at least what we have in
  • 00:22:21
there and we hope to be able to do that
  • 00:22:24
uh you never know when it comes to that
  • 00:22:25
you know you dig and maybe things aren't
  • 00:22:27
there like you think they're there but
  • 00:22:29
we'll be spending a lot of time there
  • 00:22:30
    it'll be great for Ukraine it's it's
  • 00:22:32
like a huge economic development project
  • 00:22:34
so it'll be good for both countries
  • 00:22:37
    okay um
  • 00:22:41
please uh prime minister excuse me uh
  • 00:22:45
prime minister um you've talked about
  • 00:22:48
putting British soldiers boots on the
  • 00:22:50
ground in Ukraine in the event that
  • 00:22:53
President Trump succeeds with his peace
  • 00:22:55
deal but can you do that without
  • 00:22:59
a firm assurance that America will have
  • 00:23:01
our back in the form of some kind of
  • 00:23:03
    security
  • 00:23:04
guarantee were Putin to breach that
  • 00:23:07
agreement and Mr President um tomorrow
  • 00:23:11
you're seeing president zalinski to sign
  • 00:23:14
this uh deal on minerals and energy that
  • 00:23:17
could be hugely important to the United
  • 00:23:21
States will you take the opportunity to
  • 00:23:24
apologize to him for calling him a
  • 00:23:27
    dictator while appraising Vladimir Putin
  • 00:23:30
    who is a
  • 00:23:31
dictator well Robert let me start by
  • 00:23:33
saying uh I've been really clear uh
  • 00:23:36
today and previously that uh I think
  • 00:23:39
    that European countries including the
  • 00:23:41
United kingom need to step up in our own
  • 00:23:43
defense and security we've been doing
  • 00:23:45
that in recent days you saw the
  • 00:23:47
announcement we made on spending just
  • 00:23:50
the other day um in addition to that
  • 00:23:52
I've made it clear that the United
  • 00:23:54
Kingdom will play its full part in
  • 00:23:56
ensuring that um if there's a deal and
  • 00:23:58
that we hope there is a deal in Ukraine
  • 00:24:01
that that is a lasting deal um that
  • 00:24:03
sticks and we're obviously working with
  • 00:24:06
other European countries on that France
  • 00:24:08
and NATO um in particular but we I've
  • 00:24:11
got I think I'm hosting 18 countries on
  • 00:24:13
Sunday to further our uh discussions you
  • 00:24:16
heard from the president this morning uh
  • 00:24:18
that you know as as historically has
  • 00:24:21
always been the case we have each
  • 00:24:22
other's backs and today we've been
  • 00:24:24
talking um about um uh the de
  • 00:24:29
um how that will be a lasting deal um
  • 00:24:32
and coming out of this our teams will
  • 00:24:34
now be uh talking uh in detail about
  • 00:24:36
that and I think we're going to have a
  • 00:24:38
very good meeting tomorrow 11 o' and I
  • 00:24:41
think we're going to have a very good
  • 00:24:42
meeting tomorrow morning we're going to
  • 00:24:44
get along really well okay we have a lot
  • 00:24:46
of respect I have a lot of respect for
  • 00:24:48
him uh we've given him a lot of
  • 00:24:51
equipment and a lot of money but they
  • 00:24:53
have fought very bravely no matter how
  • 00:24:55
you figure just not even going to answer
  • 00:24:56
the question somebody has to use that
  • 00:24:58
equipment and they have been very bril
  • 00:25:00
in that sense not even going to listen
  • 00:25:01
    uh yeah please go
  • 00:25:07
ahead is nearing an end this Saturday uh
  • 00:25:10
and there's been some worry that phase
  • 00:25:11
two might never get there do you believe
  • 00:25:13
that phase two of the ceasefire in Gaza
  • 00:25:16
will come to fruition and have you
  • 00:25:17
spoken to Netanyahu about it and for the
  • 00:25:20
Prime Minister um this peacekeeping deal
  • 00:25:22
has been pushed forward by the UK and
  • 00:25:24
France as well have you uh been in
  • 00:25:26
    discussions with any other European
  • 00:25:28
countries to join this this initiative
  • 00:25:30
    and are you expecting commonwealth
  • 00:25:31
countries to also join the effort thank
  • 00:25:33
you so we're working very hard in the
  • 00:25:35
Middle East and Gaza and all of the
  • 00:25:37
problems and it's been going on for
  • 00:25:39
years and years and centuries and
  • 00:25:42
    centuries it's a it's a tough
  • 00:25:44
neighborhood but it could be a very
  • 00:25:46
beautiful neighborhood and I think we're
  • 00:25:47
going to come up with some pretty good
  • 00:25:49
    Solutions but
  • 00:25:52
    uh phase one is almost
  • 00:25:54
complete uh we've had some people that
  • 00:25:57
have been very seriously injured very
  • 00:25:59
    seriously hurt both physically and
  • 00:26:02
mentally they've come out of there very
  • 00:26:04
very uh some of them in very very bad
  • 00:26:07
shape uh is shocking many young people
  • 00:26:11
young people aren't in bad shape young
  • 00:26:13
people are strong healthy they don't die
  • 00:26:16
people have come out dead young people
  • 00:26:18
and old people uh it's a rough situation
  • 00:26:22
but I think we're going to make it much
  • 00:26:24
better and I think that we've had a huge
  • 00:26:26
impact on that since we've been in just
  • 00:26:27
the four weeks I think we've had a huge
  • 00:26:30
impact on Gaza the Middle East and we
  • 00:26:31
have some pretty good uh talks going on
  • 00:26:35
concerning lots of other people that are
  • 00:26:36
going to make it better so uh we'll see
  • 00:26:38
what happens nobody really knows but
  • 00:26:40
we'll see what happens but I think we've
  • 00:26:42
had a very positive impact Prim yeah on
  • 00:26:45
the question of um the uh European
  • 00:26:48
countries yes I've spoken to a number of
  • 00:26:51
countries um particularly in the last
  • 00:26:53
few weeks we had a meeting in Paris uh
  • 00:26:55
last week um I've got a meeting on
  • 00:26:57
Sunday with 18 countries um to further
  • 00:27:00
our discussions um obviously um we've
  • 00:27:03
been talking quite intensely uh to our
  • 00:27:06
French colleagues um and to Nato but to
  • 00:27:09
other countries as well um because uh as
  • 00:27:13
I say I think it's important uh for
  • 00:27:15
    European countries including the United
  • 00:27:17
Kingdom um to step up and do more in the
  • 00:27:21
defense and security of Europe and our
  • 00:27:25
continent in the United Kingdom and we
  • 00:27:26
will do so well we're to a number of
  • 00:27:28
    other countries the French already
  • 00:27:31
surrendered wait did they pink red
  • 00:27:34
flaming red is it me or go ahead okay
  • 00:27:37
thank you Mr President um question on
  • 00:27:39
Ukraine number one is um if you're not
  • 00:27:42
    considering the security guarantees are
  • 00:27:45
you open to other forms of for example
  • 00:27:48
    intelligence um cooperation with Ukraine
  • 00:27:51
and Mr Prime Minister President Trump
  • 00:27:53
has proposed a plan for Gaza does this
  • 00:27:57
fit into the two St solution that the UK
  • 00:27:59
I think he was calling on the one behind
  • 00:28:01
for a long time do you see it fit into
  • 00:28:03
    your general Middle Eastern strategy
  • 00:28:05
thank you so much yeah thank you very
  • 00:28:07
much we're open to many things but
  • 00:28:09
before I even think about that that's
  • 00:28:11
almost Pleasant to think about because
  • 00:28:13
that would mean that peace has been
  • 00:28:15
arrived at uh we have to arrive at that
  • 00:28:17
peace and uh you know you went three and
  • 00:28:21
a half years with an Administration that
  • 00:28:23
never even really had a meeting they
  • 00:28:25
    didn't have a meeting on
  • 00:28:26
peace and there was no Prospect of peace
  • 00:28:29
I think frankly Russia wanted to go
  • 00:28:32
through the whole long deal I don't
  • 00:28:35
think they do anymore I don't think they
  • 00:28:36
do we had a very big impact on that
  • 00:28:39
whole situation we solved it but uh I
  • 00:28:43
don't like talking about phase two until
  • 00:28:45
I get phase one phase one is I have to
  • 00:28:47
make peace and we have to get Russia to
  • 00:28:50
we have to get Ukraine to agree and I
  • 00:28:52
think we will uh I think we've come a
  • 00:28:55
long way I believe we're going to get it
  • 00:28:57
    done I wouldn't say that if I didn't
  • 00:28:59
think so and I think it will be uh very
  • 00:29:03
important very historic and we're going
  • 00:29:05
to save a lot of a lot of lives
  • 00:29:08
naturally um on the question of Gaza the
  • 00:29:11
last few weeks um of the ceasefire um
  • 00:29:14
have been very impactful and for me
  • 00:29:17
there are two images that I remember
  • 00:29:19
more than any other uh the first is
  • 00:29:21
Emily deari um who is British being
  • 00:29:24
reunited with her mother you may
  • 00:29:27
    remember she had
  • 00:29:28
her fingers uh missing after what she Ed
  • 00:29:33
that was an incredible moment I had
  • 00:29:34
spent a lot of time with her mother uh
  • 00:29:36
while she was held captive and uh her
  • 00:29:39
mother went through absolute torture the
  • 00:29:42
    other image was thousands of
  • 00:29:43
    Palestinians marching through Rubble
  • 00:29:45
trying to return to their communities
  • 00:29:47
and their homes um so we have to do
  • 00:29:51
everything we can to ensure that the
  • 00:29:52
    ceasefire continues so that more
  • 00:29:54
hostages can be returned so that Aid can
  • 00:29:57
be brought in that's desperately needed
  • 00:30:01
um and um we we need to allow
  • 00:30:03
Palestinians to return and to rebuild
  • 00:30:05
their lives and we must all support them
  • 00:30:07
in doing that and yes I believe that the
  • 00:30:10
    two-state solution is ultimately the
  • 00:30:12
only way for a lasting um Peace um in
  • 00:30:16
the region and think of that she came
  • 00:30:19
home with her fingers and part of her
  • 00:30:22
hand blown off that's terrible uh yeah
  • 00:30:25
how bad does he get and we had others
  • 00:30:27
    that
  • 00:30:28
in much much worse shape than that it's
  • 00:30:31
a terrible situation uh please yes that
  • 00:30:35
    is pretty
  • 00:30:38
bad thank you uh Mr President did our
  • 00:30:41
prime minister persuade you not to put
  • 00:30:43
tariffs on the UK and if I a prime
  • 00:30:46
minister do you think that Vladimir
  • 00:30:48
Putin is a man who will keep his word
  • 00:30:52
    thanks he
  • 00:30:55
tried he was working hard out tell you
  • 00:30:58
that he he earned whatever the hell they
  • 00:31:00
pay him over there but uh he tried uh we
  • 00:31:05
I think there a very good chance that in
  • 00:31:06
the case of these two great friendly
  • 00:31:09
countries I think we we could very well
  • 00:31:11
end up with a real trade deal where the
  • 00:31:14
tariffs wouldn't be necessary oh jeez uh
  • 00:31:17
we'll see but he he's uh he earned
  • 00:31:20
whatever they whatever they pay him
  • 00:31:22
heing today he was working hard at lunch
  • 00:31:25
and and I'm very receptive to it I think
  • 00:31:27
we in all fairness in all seriousness I
  • 00:31:30
think we have a very good chance at
  • 00:31:31
arriving at a very good deal JD and and
  • 00:31:33
Scott and uh Howard all the people are
  • 00:31:37
working on it and I think we have a good
  • 00:31:38
chance at arriving at a deal that could
  • 00:31:40
be uh terrific really terrific for both
  • 00:31:44
countries okay thank you uh on the
  • 00:31:46
second part of the question um I think
  • 00:31:48
my views on Putin are pretty well
  • 00:31:50
rehearsed and pretty well known um and
  • 00:31:54
my concern is that if there's a deal and
  • 00:31:56
I hope there is a deal that it must be a
  • 00:31:58
lasting deal uh that it's not a
  • 00:32:00
temporary uh measure and that is um why
  • 00:32:03
I think it's really important that um uh
  • 00:32:06
Putin knows that um this deal a historic
  • 00:32:09
deal which I very much hope comes about
  • 00:32:12
is there um is there and it's a lasting
  • 00:32:14
deal um and that we're able to deal with
  • 00:32:17
um any inclination he has to go again or
  • 00:32:20
go further okay I think we'll have two
  • 00:32:22
deals I think we'll have a deal on
  • 00:32:24
ending the war and I think we're going
  • 00:32:26
to end up with a great trade deal with
  • 00:32:28
you and it's an honor to be with you and
  • 00:32:31
I want to thank everybody very much
  • 00:32:32
    thank you very much how
  • 00:32:37
nice thank you very much thank you
  • 00:32:41
    [Applause]
  • 00:32:43
    wow
  • 00:32:44
    [Applause]
  • 00:32:48
    wow
  • 00:32:54
wow well I think that went pretty well I
  • 00:32:56
mean overall I think yeah it was decent
  • 00:32:59
right I mean I would say not the total
  • 00:33:01
disaster I was expecting yeah they
  • 00:33:03
    didn't even talk [ __ ] once that was
  • 00:33:06
nothing yeah nothing nothing went crazy
  • 00:33:08
it was all normal stuff man and uh wow
  • 00:33:12
yeah do you think Trump's foreign
  • 00:33:13
    policies will actually increase world
  • 00:33:14
    peace I I I don't think that anybody
  • 00:33:16
knows like I'm not sure I mean like I I
  • 00:33:19
think there's a lot of good Arguments
  • 00:33:21
for both right uh I think it depends on
  • 00:33:23
what it is so yeah it's hard to say but
  • 00:33:25
um damn There It Is Well [ __ ]
