00:00:00
I'm prepared for whatever comes my way
00:00:02
depression loneliness I've felt it
00:00:05
before I'll feel it again okay I've
00:00:07
spent a good amount of my 20s in New
00:00:09
York City and quite honestly the
00:00:10
memories I have here are some of my
00:00:12
favorites and yet I never had a desire
00:00:14
to move here I was perfectly fine with
00:00:16
letting New York be this wild escape
00:00:18
from the life that I'd always known it
00:00:20
seemed so crazy even my delusional ass
00:00:23
couldn't even begin to think about the
00:00:25
idea of me moving so what changed hello
00:00:27
welcome back to my channel okay so if
00:00:29
you've seen my last YouTube video you
00:00:30
would know that I recently uprooted my
00:00:32
entire life and moved to New York City
00:00:36
the City of Dreams the City of Lights
00:00:41
people will expect me to be like oh like
00:00:44
I'm here to hustle I came here to make
00:00:47
it I came here to make 10 billion
00:00:49
dollars in trading stocks in today's
00:00:52
video I'm going to be talking about
00:00:53
three main reasons why I moved to New
00:00:55
York City it might be four I feel like
00:00:57
it's always this massive debate of like
00:00:58
LA versus New York at least in my
00:01:01
opinion when I was moving out of La I
00:01:03
feel like I had a lot of friends that
00:01:05
genuinely were like why is La so bad
00:01:07
that you feel like leaving and I felt
00:01:09
like I honestly had to prove myself to a
00:01:11
lot of people which I know like I don't
00:01:13
have to prove anyone jack didly [ __ ] but
00:01:15
I felt like a lot of people Loki were
00:01:17
like coming for me when they were like
00:01:18
you think New York's gonna be that much
00:01:20
different than La you think that New
00:01:22
York's this fantasy land that you see on
00:01:24
Tick Tock [ __ ] like I honestly felt
00:01:27
like so many people just thought that I
00:01:29
wanted to move to New York because of
00:01:30
like I saw I saw like a tick tock of
00:01:33
some coffee shop that I wanted to go to
00:01:35
I feel like this video would be a good
00:01:36
video to just talk to you guys about
00:01:38
because I know a lot of you guys are
00:01:40
looking to move out of your hometowns
00:01:42
looking to make a transition looking to
00:01:44
make a big shift in your life and if
00:01:46
there's ever a shift to do it's moving
00:01:49
to a completely new state subscribe if
00:01:51
you haven't already because why not
00:01:53
let's keep this party going on this
00:01:55
channel shall we let's get into the
00:01:56
reasons reason number one why I moved to
00:01:58
New York is quality of life I know that
00:02:00
sounds crazy when it's like quality of
00:02:02
life like that sounds so depressing but
00:02:04
okay so I grew up in Southern California
00:02:05
up until last month I had never even
00:02:07
lived an hour outside of my hometown
00:02:09
when I was in college I spent a lot of
00:02:11
time on campus you kind of lived in this
00:02:13
community where everyone would like walk
00:02:15
around everyone was a lot more social
00:02:17
you know you would go to like that one
00:02:19
street by your college that had like all
00:02:21
the coffee shops and all the bars and I
00:02:23
guess what I'm trying to say is having
00:02:24
things very walkable near you that flow
00:02:27
feels so good after college when I moved
00:02:30
to LA that flow pretty much disappeared
00:02:33
I personally found it really really hard
00:02:35
to be motivated to leave my house I love
00:02:38
walking in cities like it's my favorite
00:02:40
thing to just walk around for hours I'll
00:02:43
walk for miles it's really therapeutic
00:02:45
for me to just watch people interact and
00:02:47
like see new stores and new restaurants
00:02:49
and take pictures of like places that I
00:02:52
want to remember and living in La I
00:02:54
didn't walk at all when I was in New
00:02:55
York I would actually go to the park
00:02:56
like I would go to the park I would go
00:02:59
to the park with my friends and we would
00:03:02
just lay in the grass and have a picnic
00:03:05
and Friends of all different people
00:03:06
would come and say hi and it was a very
00:03:09
Community Based feeling I just felt like
00:03:12
all of the most spontaneous youthful
00:03:15
joyful those moments that made me feel
00:03:17
like a kid happened in New York City
00:03:19
they didn't happen in La like they just
00:03:22
didn't and that's different for everyone
00:03:23
some people might find their flow better
00:03:26
in La I just realized I could eliminate
00:03:28
a lot of my quality of life problems by
00:03:30
literally just being in a walkable City
00:03:32
the same people that will be like oh my
00:03:34
God but living in L.A you guys have the
00:03:37
beach are the same people that but do
00:03:39
not go to the [ __ ] beach like let me
00:03:41
tell you and I'm a beach person and I
00:03:43
don't even go to the beach because the
00:03:45
effort of driving is already you're
00:03:47
driving an hour to the beach parking is
00:03:49
expensive if there's even parking even
00:03:52
when I literally lived like this is the
00:03:54
perfect example I literally lived on the
00:03:57
water five minutes away from Malibu
00:04:00
Farms which is like one of my favorite
00:04:02
restaurants in Malibu I couldn't even go
00:04:04
to Malibu Farms living in Malibu I was
00:04:07
as close as you could possibly get and
00:04:09
even my ass could not find parking at
00:04:11
the beach the point is
00:04:15
like that should just prove my point
00:04:16
like living in La it is so difficult to
00:04:19
even just exist and enjoy
00:04:22
the literal [ __ ] City you live in if
00:04:24
you can't even get to enjoy
00:04:26
what is five minutes away from your
00:04:29
house how are you supposed to enjoy the
00:04:31
entire city the number two reason why I
00:04:33
moved to New York is actually the
00:04:34
weather I know a lot of people are gonna
00:04:36
freak out when I say that why the [ __ ]
00:04:38
would you move to New York versus LA for
00:04:40
the weather I don't know about you but I
00:04:42
really love Seasons like seasons are
00:04:45
great seasoning on those Seasons people
00:04:47
are gonna be like oh my God New York
00:04:49
[ __ ] sucks in the winter it's brick I
00:04:53
know that I know I'm prepared for
00:04:55
whatever comes my way depression
00:04:57
loneliness I've felt it before I'll feel
00:05:00
it again no but honestly I just have to
00:05:03
go through it myself and I know people
00:05:04
are gonna say
00:05:06
why when you can live in sunny
00:05:08
California
00:05:10
Beverly Hills I just feel like when you
00:05:13
grow up with no seasons for the majority
00:05:15
of your life and you're now an adult it
00:05:18
gets old okay so why do I think I'll
00:05:19
survive the winter I'll give you like
00:05:21
four reasons number one my family is
00:05:23
from Buffalo New York which means we
00:05:25
have the New York surviving the cold
00:05:28
warm-blooded Gene flowing through our
00:05:30
veins we're polish number two my
00:05:33
boyfriend is Norwegian so he already has
00:05:35
dealt with the most extreme version of
00:05:38
Northern Europe winter I feel like if
00:05:40
you can survive that
00:05:41
New York is piece of cake number three I
00:05:44
actually do very well in cold
00:05:46
temperatures girl I've camped in a
00:05:48
sleeping bag in four feet of snow in the
00:05:51
Canadian winter the wind doesn't scare
00:05:52
me I mean the wind does scare me a
00:05:54
little bit New York but the snow doesn't
00:05:55
and the temperature it really doesn't
00:05:57
scare me I'm here for the challenge you
00:05:59
know I think we'll be fine I'm honestly
00:06:00
excited I feel like everything's gonna
00:06:02
be fine also I heavily collect jackets
00:06:04
like I'm not even kidding I collect
00:06:05
jackets they are my favorite thing to
00:06:07
wear I didn't get to wear any of my
00:06:09
jackets living in L.A I know someone's
00:06:11
gonna quote this and be like this [ __ ]
00:06:12
is moving to New York so she could wear
00:06:14
her jackets yeah
00:06:16
to be quite honest that's a big part of
00:06:18
it yeah
00:06:19
I didn't collect these jackets for
00:06:21
nothing third reason why I moved to New
00:06:22
York is inspiration I feel like this is
00:06:24
pretty self-explanatory but when you're
00:06:26
not living in a place that stimulates
00:06:27
you that stimulates your creativity that
00:06:30
promotes creativity creativity just kind
00:06:32
of dies New York has so many points of
00:06:34
inspiration for me and it just allows me
00:06:36
to create more freely I feel a lot less
00:06:38
insecure here to create and I don't want
00:06:40
this video to be like in LA versus New
00:06:42
York thing that could be a whole other
00:06:44
video the fact that there's so many
00:06:46
people in La hustling to make it on Tick
00:06:49
Tock or like be an influencer and yet
00:06:51
the culture around creating content in
00:06:53
public is still so Taboo it's so
00:06:56
embarrassing it's so looked down upon
00:06:58
it's honestly crazy if I ever wanted to
00:07:01
go out in LA and like just shoot a cool
00:07:03
creative idea or take an outfit picture
00:07:05
the simplest things you're just kind of
00:07:08
like judged and you're looked at and
00:07:10
it's really weird the vibe is off
00:07:11
however one of the cool things I really
00:07:14
realized about New York even way before
00:07:16
I thought I might end up moving here I
00:07:18
would see literally really all the time
00:07:20
a girl taking a picture of her friend in
00:07:22
an outfit I would see girls crossing the
00:07:24
street flipping their hair someone
00:07:25
filmed me an iPhone video I have fully
00:07:27
seen girls on the side of the street
00:07:30
with a tripod getting their content I
00:07:32
don't look at them in a weird way I
00:07:34
don't like take videos of them and put
00:07:35
them on like [ __ ] influencers in the
00:07:37
wild you know it could be possible that
00:07:39
the girl taking the picture of her
00:07:40
friend or a model is the designer of
00:07:43
that dress and is trying to get content
00:07:45
to promote her brand like there's
00:07:47
nothing weird about that at all maybe
00:07:50
it's their creative passion maybe
00:07:52
they're wanting to become a photographer
00:07:54
and they're trying to expand their
00:07:55
portfolio like all of those things are
00:07:57
very normal and it's so crazy to me how
00:08:01
they're still looked at as very weird
00:08:03
and Taboo in LA and everyone feels like
00:08:06
they need to film them and like focus on
00:08:08
them and make them feel uncomfortable
00:08:09
they're just trying to be creative
00:08:12
and there's nothing
00:08:14
weird or out of the ordinary about that
00:08:16
I mean if you guys follow me on
00:08:17
Instagram or Tick Tock you guys have
00:08:18
probably seen me making so much more
00:08:20
fashion content and just expressing
00:08:22
myself a little bit more freely people
00:08:24
living in New York genuinely make it a
00:08:27
lot more comfortable to shoot content
00:08:28
and just be creative and be yourself
00:08:31
even if you're not shooting content the
00:08:33
people in New York genuinely make it so
00:08:35
much less stigmatized to be yourself and
00:08:37
be creative and just live your best
00:08:39
[ __ ] life like I guess what I'm
00:08:41
trying to say is if you feel this way in
00:08:42
your hometown I relate to you even
00:08:45
though I lived in nowhere so yeah okay
00:08:48
so one of the last reasons why I moved
00:08:49
to New York is I was seeking a challenge
00:08:52
I was seeking a challenge I was seeking
00:08:54
growth I was seeking bettering myself
00:08:57
leveling up in myself and in my career I
00:09:00
feel like no matter where you're from
00:09:01
whether you live in LA or you live in a
00:09:04
small town in the midwest or you live in
00:09:06
freaking Jamaica like no matter where
00:09:09
you live if you live in your hometown
00:09:11
you're always going to have that feeling
00:09:12
of like what else is out there you know
00:09:14
like how big can I really do life how
00:09:18
insane can life really get the aerial
00:09:21
effect you know it's like the Disney
00:09:22
Princess effect you see this like big
00:09:24
city this different place this place
00:09:27
that's like across the world across the
00:09:29
water and you see this version of
00:09:31
yourself that like could live there in
00:09:32
the future and you just start to
00:09:34
fantasize you know you're just like what
00:09:35
would my life be like if I was brave
00:09:37
enough
00:09:38
and crazy enough to make that transition
00:09:41
just because you moved to a different
00:09:42
place doesn't make you a different
00:09:44
person you still have to work on the
00:09:45
same issues you're dealing with all of
00:09:47
the problems that you want to fix about
00:09:48
yourself they don't go away just because
00:09:50
you moved to a new city like we are not
00:09:52
discounting any of that
00:09:54
but I dead ass thought about moving to
00:09:56
Portland I thought about moving to
00:09:58
Washington I was this close relocating
00:10:01
my entire family to Upstate Washington
00:10:04
like I was this close I know it sounds
00:10:06
dramatic but I realized if I would have
00:10:09
done that that would have been me
00:10:10
running away from so many of my dreams
00:10:12
that I never realized and I know I don't
00:10:14
have to live in New York to be a fiction
00:10:16
writer or be a DJ I could be a DJ in
00:10:19
Portland Oregon you know but I have to
00:10:20
shoot for the stars you know and I think
00:10:22
that's the only way to do it so even if
00:10:24
you're not doing anything creative at
00:10:26
all I'm a firm believer in the fact that
00:10:28
putting yourself through challenging
00:10:29
situations only helps you in the long
00:10:31
run it makes you a better character it
00:10:33
makes you have more empathy the best
00:10:35
years of my life which are supposed to
00:10:37
be my 20s
00:10:39
haha I feel like I should spend it
00:10:42
seeking uncomfortability and seeking
00:10:45
Challenge and seeking growth and me
00:10:47
going from LA to basically live in a log
00:10:51
cabin which was what I was looking for
00:10:52
at the end of the day just didn't feel
00:10:54
right this is the first time I've ever
00:10:55
lived outside of my hometown this is the
00:10:57
first time I've ever lived in a place
00:10:59
with Seasons there's so many firsts
00:11:00
happening it all feels super exciting
00:11:02
but honestly like more than anything it
00:11:04
feels really right Everything feels
00:11:07
exactly how it should be I do miss my
00:11:08
car anyway I will keep you updated if
00:11:10
anything changes if I end up hating it
00:11:13
here I I don't think I will but I guess
00:11:15
I'll end it with if you're thinking of
00:11:17
making that transition moving to a new
00:11:19
city you're a little bit nervous you're
00:11:21
a little bit scared I say do it this is
00:11:24
your sign because so many things have
00:11:26
happened just in the last three weeks of
00:11:28
me living here that tell me that this is
00:11:30
exactly where I'm supposed to be so if
00:11:33
you need a sign to do it to make that
00:11:36
shift this is your sign
00:11:38
everything's gonna be okay everything's
00:11:40
gonna fall into place and
00:11:43
don't be scared so yeah anyway that is
00:11:45
it for this video be sure to follow me
00:11:47
on Instagram and Tick Tock I was about
00:11:49
to say Twitter but oh my God yeah I'll
00:11:51
see you guys next week for a new video I
00:11:53
love you guys so much and I'll see you
00:11:54
guys later
00:11:58
[Music]
