- 00:00:15while other videos get no views like you
- 00:00:18i know the feeling of waking up with no
- 00:00:20new subscribers and no new views it's
- 00:00:22not a good feeling and each day you wake
- 00:00:24up hoping that the youtube algorithm
- 00:00:26found your video and pushed it out to
- 00:00:28millions of people but it doesn't do
- 00:00:30that it still just gets zero views so
- 00:00:33let's talk about the first reason of why
- 00:00:35that is this video is sponsored by

- 00:00:54this actually happened to me too but
- 00:00:56once you understand them then they all
- 00:00:58appear in its magic and it turns out
- 00:00:59it's really easy to start implementing
- 00:01:01these into your youtube videos to
- 00:01:04actually start getting views on youtube
- 00:01:05yes you need a great video yes you need
- 00:01:07a great thumbnail and title but there's
- 00:01:10something that comes before that that a
- 00:01:11lot of youtubers overlook and that's the
- 00:01:14big idea now instantly i think of this
- 00:01:16hollywood trick that i learned from save
- 00:01:18the cat this is actually a book on
- 00:01:20screenwriting for movies but i learned
- 00:01:22something in this book that seriously
- 00:01:23shifted my mind when it came to how i
- 00:01:26think about youtube videos in the book
- 00:01:28the author talks about how screenwriters
- 00:01:29are competing against a bunch of other
- 00:01:31scripts out there in the world kind of
- 00:01:33like youtubers competing with a bunch of
- 00:01:35other videos out there on youtube and he
- 00:01:37said that these producers don't have
- 00:01:38time to go through and read all of these
- 00:01:40scripts that people send to them kind of
- 00:01:42like on youtube you just don't have time
- 00:01:44to watch all of the videos so you have
- 00:01:46to choose one so how do these producers
- 00:01:48actually choose what script they're
- 00:01:49going to read well honestly it's kind of
- 00:01:51simple they just ask the writer they say
- 00:01:53what is it about now the answer that
- 00:01:55they give to that question is the log
- 00:01:57line of their movie it's maybe one or
- 00:01:59two sentences explaining the movie and
- 00:02:01what it's about now if those one or two
- 00:02:03sentences can't intrigue the person into
- 00:02:05reading their script they don't even
- 00:02:07read it at all and just like on youtube
- 00:02:09if i were to ask you what is your
- 00:02:10youtube video about if you can't explain
- 00:02:13it in one to two sentences or it's just
- 00:02:14not interesting when you explain it then
- 00:02:16it's probably not even worth making and
- 00:02:18that's what he talks about in this book
- 00:02:20if your log line is not interesting
- 00:02:22enough it's not even worth writing the
- 00:02:24script so let's break down these 10 key
- 00:02:26elements as an example let's just say we
- 00:02:28have a dental hygiene youtube channel
- 00:02:30and let's say we want to review the
- 00:02:31burst sonic toothbrush seems just like a
- 00:02:34normal video idea doesn't really have
- 00:02:35this big idea element to it so we make
- 00:02:38the video best toothbrush under a
- 00:02:39hundred dollars burst sonic toothbrush
- 00:02:42review and now what i'm gonna do is take
- 00:02:44some of the key elements and implement
- 00:02:46that into this video to make it a big
- 00:02:48idea so option number two would be kim
- 00:02:50kardashian uses this toothbrush burst
- 00:02:53sonic toothbrush review both are the
- 00:02:55same video but one has a slight twist to
- 00:02:58it one is using an authority in its
- 00:03:00title and video idea now that's just one
- 00:03:02of the 10 key elements that you can
- 00:03:04implement into your videos to go viral
- 00:03:06actually there's another element found
- 00:03:08in this idea but we'll get to that so to
- 00:03:10actually get views on youtube there has
- 00:03:11to be demand for your video there has to
- 00:03:13be people who are actually interested in
- 00:03:16what your video is about here's a great
- 00:03:17example look at option one we have the
- 00:03:19sony a7c full review it's over a year
- 00:03:22old and has 37 000 views now look at
- 00:03:24option two the perfect 4k vlog camera
- 00:03:27for youtube videos in 2022. it's a month
- 00:03:30old and it has 74 000 views it's the
- 00:03:33same camera a very similar video but
- 00:03:35completely repackaged on option one you
- 00:03:38only click on it if you know what the
- 00:03:39sony a7c is and if you're interested in
- 00:03:41that camera whereas on option two you
- 00:03:43click on it if you want to know the
- 00:03:44perfect vlog camera for youtube there's
- 00:03:46clearly more demand for vlog camera
- 00:03:48versus sony a7c a very specific camera
- 00:03:51you also really need to understand that
- 00:03:53different topics in your niche are
- 00:03:54simply just gonna have more search
- 00:03:56traffic so check out this example option
- 00:03:58one we have keyboard shortcuts for final
- 00:04:00cut pro
- 00:04:012500 searches per month option two we
- 00:04:03have final cut pro tutorial for
- 00:04:04beginners which is 7
- 00:04:06768 views per month which is three times
- 00:04:10more in search traffic so one of the
- 00:04:11reasons that your videos are not getting
- 00:04:14any views is because there's not a lot
- 00:04:15of search behind that topic now no
- 00:04:17matter how small or niche down your
- 00:04:19channel is you can still implement this
- 00:04:21big idea theory to your videos first off
- 00:04:24just ask yourself what are the main
- 00:04:26desires that people have for in my niche
- 00:04:28niche niche niche
- 00:04:30i don't know also ask your question what
- 00:04:32are the main problems that people in my
- 00:04:34niche are facing those common problems
- 00:04:37and common desires in your niche are
- 00:04:39going to be your big ideas now look big
- 00:04:42ideas for mr beast are going to be
- 00:04:44different than the big ideas that we
- 00:04:46have at think media and the big ideas
- 00:04:48that you have for your channel some of
- 00:04:49our big idea topics are going to be best
- 00:04:52camera for youtube or how to grow on
- 00:04:54youtube because those are topics that
- 00:04:56are applicable to the mass majority of
- 00:04:57our audience now you can't just make
- 00:04:59every single video covering those most
- 00:05:01searched topics so what you need to do
- 00:05:03is find other ideas and topics that have
- 00:05:06these key elements and implement them
- 00:05:08into your video and when you start to
- 00:05:10incorporate these you're going to bring
- 00:05:11so much demand and interest to your
- 00:05:13youtube videos and it's going to get you
- 00:05:15massive views so let's get right into
- 00:05:17the rest of these elements that you
- 00:05:19should implement into your videos idea
- 00:05:21and then practically these are going to
- 00:05:22show up in your title and thumbnail as
- 00:05:24well which is gonna help you get the
- 00:05:25click now jake thomas on twitter
- 00:05:27actually recorded 200 plus videos into
- 00:05:30this database and to make it into this
- 00:05:31database a video has to have at least
- 00:05:33three times the average views for its
- 00:05:35channel now these elements are going to
- 00:05:37be ranked from least to most commonly
- 00:05:39found in these viral youtube videos now
- 00:05:41i definitely recommend following jake's
- 00:05:43twitter account because you just get
- 00:05:44these amazing youtube knowledge bombs
- 00:05:46and i just love his account another
- 00:05:48awesome resource that i found for coming
- 00:05:50up with these big idea topics is
- 00:05:53creatorhooks.com seriously every single
- 00:05:55week i look forward to getting his email
- 00:05:57because he sends you five video ideas
- 00:05:59that are like these big ideas that could
- 00:06:00do really well for your channel so for
- 00:06:02me it's been a great way to come up with
- 00:06:04new ideas for this channel number 10 is
- 00:06:06to refute an objection now in his
- 00:06:08database he found that 5
- 00:06:10of the videos refute an objection an
- 00:06:13example of this would be how to make
- 00:06:14money with youtube shorts without making
- 00:06:17videos now i'm gonna fly through all of
- 00:06:19these but i want you to start thinking
- 00:06:20how can i implement these ideas into my
- 00:06:23own niche write them down do whatever
- 00:06:25you gotta do and you're gonna come up
- 00:06:27with tons of ideas by the end of this
- 00:06:28number nine is epic or extreme and he
- 00:06:31found that six percent of the videos had
- 00:06:33this element an example would be i made
- 00:06:36a giant 30 pound kitkat something
- 00:06:38extreme that we could do at think media
- 00:06:40is i made a 24 hour long youtube video i
- 00:06:43don't know if people would watch that
- 00:06:45let me know in the comments would you
- 00:06:46actually watch a 24 hour long youtube
- 00:06:48video from think media we might we might
- 00:06:50have to do that
- 00:06:52i hope not though number eight is
- 00:06:53beginner tips eight percent of the
- 00:06:55videos are specifically for beginners
- 00:06:57and we do this a lot at think media the
- 00:06:59example he gives is how to get your
- 00:07:01first push-up beginner calisthenics and
- 00:07:04motivation don't overlook the beginner
- 00:07:06content because there's a lot of people
- 00:07:07trying to get started number seven is
- 00:07:10time frame nine percent of the videos
- 00:07:12include a time frame for example 10 000
- 00:07:15followers in 10 days my new strategy now
- 00:07:18it's even better if the time frame is
- 00:07:20going to be epic or extreme for example
- 00:07:2210 000 followers in 10 days that is an
- 00:07:24epic extreme element as well so it's
- 00:07:26kind of two different elements combined
- 00:07:28into one video number six is deep desire
- 00:07:31now 14 of the videos included this deep
- 00:07:34desire element an example is how to
- 00:07:36change your life in three weeks by 2022.
- 00:07:39number five is authority which 17 of the
- 00:07:42videos included this and that's exactly
- 00:07:44the kim kardashian example that i gave
- 00:07:46you guys now it doesn't have to be just
- 00:07:48a celebrity it can be a well-known brand
- 00:07:50a location that's well known whatever it
- 00:07:52is as long as it has some sort of
- 00:07:54authority you can use this in your video
- 00:07:56to draw in more views and more interest
- 00:07:58his example is how u.s military
- 00:08:00linguists learn languages fast number
- 00:08:02four is timelines and 20 of these videos
- 00:08:05are timely also known as newsjacking or
- 00:08:08trend jacking an example in october
- 00:08:10would be 20 halloween candies you should
- 00:08:13never eat number three is a list and
- 00:08:16this element was in 28 of the videos an
- 00:08:19example is the seven best purchases to
- 00:08:22make in your 20s now another hack is to
- 00:08:24tie this in with things that are highly
- 00:08:26searched so not only did we have the
- 00:08:28list but we tied in the beginner element
- 00:08:30as well and also a little secret here is
- 00:08:32that a lot of these videos are using
- 00:08:34more than one element so stay tuned for
- 00:08:36the end where there's some like crazy
- 00:08:38stats on exactly how many elements you
- 00:08:40should incorporate into your youtube
- 00:08:42videos number two is negativity and
- 00:08:44sadly 39 of these videos used negativity
- 00:08:48in their idea an example would be three
- 00:08:51reasons you should not buy a tesla i'm
- 00:08:53not necessarily saying you should do
- 00:08:55this but i am saying that it works and
- 00:08:57the most common element found in these
- 00:09:00videos was actually found in 56
- 00:09:03of all of these videos and this was
- 00:09:04actually another element in that kim
- 00:09:06kardashian example so pause the video
- 00:09:08and comment if you can guess what this
- 00:09:10number one element is without further
- 00:09:13ado the number one element is curiosity
- 00:09:16an example would be why alton brown is
- 00:09:18warning people about san marzano
- 00:09:21tomatoes now i bet you if you open up
- 00:09:23youtube and you go on the homepage
- 00:09:24you're gonna find a few videos that are
- 00:09:26implementing this curiosity factor so
- 00:09:28how many of these elements should you
- 00:09:30actually use in your video is one enough
- 00:09:32maybe two or three well on average
- 00:09:33videos have 2.2 of the elements above
- 00:09:37and 50 of all the videos have a number
- 00:09:40in them so if you want to go viral i
- 00:09:41definitely recommend studying these
- 00:09:43elements and using two or three of them
- 00:09:45in your idea title and thumbnail now
- 00:09:47luckily coming up with viral video ideas
- 00:09:49doesn't require you to be super creative
- 00:09:51and constantly thinking of brand new
- 00:09:53ideas that have never been done before
- 00:09:55so right now i'm gonna share with you
- 00:09:57the exact steps and tools that we use at
- 00:09:59think media to come up with viral video
- 00:10:01ideas that get tons of views first of
- 00:10:03all we know that video ideas that worked
- 00:10:04well for another channel most likely are
- 00:10:06gonna work well for us so one of my
- 00:10:08favorite ways to find these video ideas
- 00:10:10that are gonna get a lot of views is by
- 00:10:12looking at the videos that got a lot of
- 00:10:14views for other channels in my niche and
- 00:10:16there's a couple ways to do this now
- 00:10:17first of all we're looking at channel
- 00:10:18makers which has some really awesome
- 00:10:20videos so i'm just going to go to his
- 00:10:21videos i'm going to sort by most popular
- 00:10:24now i'm looking at some of these videos
- 00:10:26that are the most popular but you also
- 00:10:28want to look at how old they are
- 00:10:29sometimes you're going to find videos on
- 00:10:30here that are years old and they're not
- 00:10:32really getting traction anymore but
- 00:10:34right away i can see that his first
- 00:10:36video that has the most amount of views
- 00:10:37is three months ago this video is if i
- 00:10:40were starting a youtube channel in 2022
- 00:10:43this is what i would do this one over
- 00:10:44here was posted six months ago and this
- 00:10:46is things every small youtuber does now
- 00:10:49you want to write all of this down
- 00:10:50because these are great ideas and
- 00:10:52remember we're not stealing their videos
- 00:10:54but these videos did well for a reason
- 00:10:56it could be because of the topic the
- 00:10:58thumbnail the title the actual video
- 00:11:00probably because all of those things
- 00:11:02were really really good is why this
- 00:11:04video is getting tons of views and so we
- 00:11:06want to take note of that write it down
- 00:11:08and then we are going to make our own
- 00:11:10version hopefully make it better or make
- 00:11:12it different now another really cool
- 00:11:13tool is called trending and this is
- 00:11:15actually a vid iq tool and it's a free
- 00:11:17plugin that you can install and then you
- 00:11:19can get this trending feature and so if
- 00:11:21i click the trending button it's going
- 00:11:22to load up some of these videos that
- 00:11:24have the most views per hour right now
- 00:11:27and basically this just simplifies the
- 00:11:28process and tells us exactly what videos
- 00:11:31on this channel are getting the most
- 00:11:33traction so looking at some of his most
- 00:11:35trending videos right now we can see
- 00:11:36that this one was just posted 18 hours
- 00:11:38ago so of course that one is gonna have
- 00:11:40a lot more views per hour because a lot
- 00:11:42of the subscribers are checking it out
- 00:11:44but if we start looking at these other
- 00:11:45videos all these videos have really good
- 00:11:48ideas that we can pull from now i want
- 00:11:50to show you inside of vidiq real quick
- 00:11:51even though a lot of the hacks and tools
- 00:11:53that i'm going to share with you guys
- 00:11:54don't require vid iq one of my favorite
- 00:11:56features is found in the competitors tab
- 00:11:58and if you scroll down after adding in
- 00:12:00some competitors of people that are in
- 00:12:02your niche when you go down here it's
- 00:12:03actually going to show you some of the
- 00:12:05trending videos from all these people
- 00:12:07that are inside of your niche posting
- 00:12:09videos as well you can see it's already
- 00:12:10sorted by views and you can change the
- 00:12:12time period from this week to be this
- 00:12:14month and this is going to show you the
- 00:12:15most viewed videos this month from your
- 00:12:18competitors so i definitely would be
- 00:12:20taking notes of what videos are trending
- 00:12:22right now from your competitors and
- 00:12:23potentially make a video similar to it
- 00:12:26now once you've started posting videos
- 00:12:27for a while you want to go into your
- 00:12:28youtube studio and start studying your
- 00:12:30own videos see which one of your videos
- 00:12:32are doing well and then you can actually
- 00:12:34double down and make another version of
- 00:12:36that all you have to do is go into your
- 00:12:38analytics and if you just scroll down a
- 00:12:39little bit you're going to see your top
- 00:12:41videos in this 30 day period and you can
- 00:12:43change that period just by selecting
- 00:12:45this if you wanted to make it the last
- 00:12:4790 days we can do that so looking at
- 00:12:49these trending videos for us i can even
- 00:12:51see right down here we have a video from
- 00:12:532018 which pulled in 50 000 new views
- 00:12:56this past month this is definitely a
- 00:12:58video i want to remake and update it
- 00:13:00because it's been four years now and
- 00:13:02there are some new sites out there that
- 00:13:04have really good copyright free music
- 00:13:06and so i'm definitely writing that down
- 00:13:07so that i can remake that video and this
- 00:13:09isn't a promise that my video is going
- 00:13:11to go viral just by simply remaking
- 00:13:13these videos but it's proven that these
- 00:13:15videos have traction they have demand
- 00:13:18and that is really really important when
- 00:13:19it comes to actually making youtube
- 00:13:21videos that are successful another great
- 00:13:23tool you can use that's absolutely free
- 00:13:25is the search bar on youtube for example
- 00:13:28let's just say that i had a keto channel
- 00:13:30and i wanted to make a video on keto but
- 00:13:32i wasn't sure what to make it about i
- 00:13:34can use this search bar and this is
- 00:13:35going to give me ideas that are highly
- 00:13:37searched first off i'm just going to
- 00:13:39start by typing in keto space bar and
- 00:13:41now this is going to be the youtube
- 00:13:43autofill so keto diet for beginners this
- 00:13:46would be like one of the most common
- 00:13:47search phrases for keto when people are
- 00:13:50typing in keto so this is something i
- 00:13:52definitely want to look at but if i go
- 00:13:53ahead and type in keto diet for
- 00:13:55beginners and i go ahead and search that
- 00:13:57we're going to see that there are going
- 00:13:58to be tons of videos covering this topic
- 00:14:01and using this vidiq plugin we can
- 00:14:03actually see that the search volume is
- 00:14:04really high but so is the competition so
- 00:14:07as a channel just starting out or if you
- 00:14:09don't have a lot of subscribers yet you
- 00:14:11want to do this we're gonna go back to
- 00:14:12that search bar we're gonna get even
- 00:14:14more specific and niche down even more
- 00:14:16for this video all i got to do is add
- 00:14:18another space bar and we're going to see
- 00:14:19some more auto fill-ins happening so we
- 00:14:21have keto diet for beginners meal plan
- 00:14:23recipes we have weight loss indian meal
- 00:14:26plan all this kind of stuff these are
- 00:14:27all really good ideas but we're gonna go
- 00:14:30ahead and go to recipes now we can see
- 00:14:31that the competition is still pretty
- 00:14:33high but we can go back in here and
- 00:14:34throw some new words in there go with a
- 00:14:36different angle and get tons of ideas
- 00:14:39just from the youtube autofill a really
- 00:14:41cool hack that i use all the time is if
- 00:14:43you go in between two words or even at
- 00:14:45the beginning of the phrase and you add
- 00:14:47in an underscore and you hit space bar
- 00:14:49this is going to add in some words right
- 00:14:52in between the middle for you so if keto
- 00:14:54indian diet plan or keto veg diet and
- 00:14:56this is going to give you even more
- 00:14:58options if i go to the beginning and hit
- 00:15:00underscore spacebar we are going to see
- 00:15:02some autofillings happening before our
- 00:15:04keyword so definitely mess around with

- 00:15:09what kind of topic you want to go after
- 00:15:10and you're kind of juggling between a
- 00:15:12few google trends is a great resource
- 00:15:14now for think media i just went ahead
- 00:15:15and threw in some camera brands up here
- 00:15:17and you can see which ones are the most
- 00:15:19popular and canon and sony are
- 00:15:21definitely the most popular and i can
- 00:15:22see that sony actually has more traction
- 00:15:25more search than canon does and these
- 00:15:27things are really important when you're
- 00:15:28deciding what kind of videos you want to
- 00:15:30make for your channel because if you're
- 00:15:32making a video that just doesn't have a
- 00:15:34lot of demand it's not going to get a
- 00:15:35lot of views so you'd rather make a
- 00:15:37video about something that does have a
- 00:15:39lot of demand and a lot of search
- 00:15:41another amazing hack that you can do
- 00:15:42that a lot of people don't do is if you
- 00:15:44go to the search bar you're gonna type
- 00:15:46in your main keyword so let's say i have
- 00:15:48a fortnight gaming channel i'm gonna go
- 00:15:50ahead and just type in fortnight and
- 00:15:52then hit search now from here what you
- 00:15:53want to do is go to the filters and then
- 00:15:56you're going to change it to this month
- 00:15:57and then let it load and then you're
- 00:15:58going to hit filters again and you're
- 00:16:00going to go to view count so this is
- 00:16:02going to sort it by the most viewed
- 00:16:04videos that have happened in the last
- 00:16:06month so basically now we have a bunch
- 00:16:08of trending videos that are happening in
- 00:16:10our niche because all these videos were
- 00:16:12posted in the last month and look we
- 00:16:13have millions of views so these are
- 00:16:15definitely topics and videos that we can
- 00:16:18get ideas for to make for our own
- 00:16:20channel and another thing here is you
- 00:16:22want to be looking for trends and kind
- 00:16:23of scroll through and see if there is a
- 00:16:25similar pattern or a similar trend
- 00:16:27happening and definitely hop on those
- 00:16:29trends so even just scrolling a little
- 00:16:31bit i noticed that there is a trend
- 00:16:33happening right here we have the random
- 00:16:35boss challenge if i scroll down a little
- 00:16:37bit more you're going to see this again
- 00:16:39the random back bling challenge and then
- 00:16:42right here again we have the random
- 00:16:44pickaxe challenge so this is definitely
- 00:16:45a trend you want to hop on do the random
- 00:16:48blank challenge in fortnite now to be
- 00:16:50honest with you coming up with these big
- 00:16:52ideas isn't enough you can still get
- 00:16:54zero views even if you have the best
- 00:16:56idea in the world because before you get
- 00:16:58someone to view your video you have to
- 00:17:00get someone to click on that video so
- 00:17:02we're gonna cover thumbnails and netflix
- 00:17:04actually released some really cool
- 00:17:05information on a study that they did for
- 00:17:07their own netflix thumbnails and it
- 00:17:09correlates perfectly to youtube
- 00:17:11thumbnails so this information that
- 00:17:12netflix will release is going to help
- 00:17:14you come up with simple proven and
- 00:17:16effective thumbnails that are going to
- 00:17:17help you get the click now on twitter i
- 00:17:20found a really cool tweet thread by jay
- 00:17:22alto and he was presenting information
- 00:17:24from netflix by trung fan and jay alto
- 00:17:27actually took this information and
- 00:17:29translated into how youtubers can use
- 00:17:31this netflix data for ourselves i'm
- 00:17:33gonna leave a link to the netflix
- 00:17:35article as well as the twitter threads
- 00:17:36in the description and also check out
- 00:17:38jayalto on twitter he has a really cool
- 00:17:40account so if you're looking to level up
- 00:17:42your thumbnails you're gonna love
- 00:17:43checking that out as well but in summary
- 00:17:45here were some of the findings on
- 00:17:47average netflix users are looking at
- 00:17:49thumbnails for only 1.8 seconds
- 00:17:52thumbnails were also the biggest
- 00:17:54influence in users selecting their
- 00:17:56content also viewing thumbnails took up
- 00:17:5882 percent of the user's focus while
- 00:18:01browsing through netflix now we can
- 00:18:02assume that the data is very similar
- 00:18:04from netflix to youtube now this is only
- 00:18:07some of the information i'm gonna get
- 00:18:08into way more data that is super
- 00:18:10interesting especially for us youtubers
- 00:18:12but so far here's what we can take away
- 00:18:14thumbnails are crucial for getting
- 00:18:16clicks and you don't have that long to
- 00:18:18grab someone's attention before they're
- 00:18:20going somewhere else and this tells us
- 00:18:21that people are paying attention to the
- 00:18:23thumbnail when they're scrolling through
- 00:18:24youtube and not really the title first
- 00:18:26they're looking at thumbnails mainly now
- 00:18:28we're going to get into some more
- 00:18:29practical tips for grabbing the viewer's
- 00:18:31attention and getting clicks with this
- 00:18:33data
- 00:18:34data data what is it guys let me know in
- 00:18:36the comments
- 00:18:37i don't know but i'm going to say data
- 00:18:39here we can see that netflix found
- 00:18:41humans respond to faces specifically
- 00:18:42ones expressing complex emotions which
- 00:18:45carry more information versus benign
- 00:18:47expressions so you know the classic
- 00:18:49youtube thumbnail face that people do
- 00:18:51well it's actually backed by science
- 00:18:53because it works and it gets people to
- 00:18:55click netflix also found that using
- 00:18:57visible recognizable characters equals
- 00:19:00more engagement particularly when it's a
- 00:19:02polarizing figure now this is a really
- 00:19:05interesting tactic and something we have
- 00:19:06done on think media which is using other
- 00:19:08influencers in our thumbnails now you
- 00:19:10have to make sure that of course the
- 00:19:11content backs up the thumbnail and it's
- 00:19:13not just clickbait now this could be a
- 00:19:15really interesting strategy for someone
- 00:19:17to grow their channel based off someone
- 00:19:18else's influence especially if they are
- 00:19:20a controversial figure now this one is
- 00:19:23really interesting netflix found that
- 00:19:25engagement dropped when thumbnails
- 00:19:27contained more than three people now on
- 00:19:29twitter jay made the connection and i
- 00:19:31totally agree with him that this goes
- 00:19:32beyond just faces this could also be
- 00:19:35just images or subjects in your shot for
- 00:19:38example you can look at this ryan trahan
- 00:19:40and arac images and you can see that yes
- 00:19:42there is only one person so that is less
- 00:19:44than three which is positive means more
- 00:19:46engagement but also there's not more
- 00:19:48than three objects in their thumbnails
- 00:19:50these thumbnails don't have a lot in
- 00:19:52them but they work really really well
- 00:19:54and this study backs that up now once
- 00:19:56you grab someone's attention with that
- 00:19:57thumbnail the next thing they're gonna
- 00:19:59look at is the title i'm also gonna
- 00:20:01share some of the free resources that we
- 00:20:03use to come up with great titles as well
- 00:20:05as a bonus tip at the end that you're
- 00:20:07gonna want to see now recently we had an
- 00:20:09all team meeting and sean was giving us
- 00:20:10a training on how to write better titles
- 00:20:13for youtube videos and during this i
- 00:20:15took some notes and i realized you guys
- 00:20:17need to hear this stuff because a lot of
- 00:20:19this is just really good practical
- 00:20:21advice that i think most people aren't
- 00:20:23really doing now the first tip that sean
- 00:20:25gave to us was to avoid insider language
- 00:20:28now i want you to think about some of
- 00:20:29the things that you might say when
- 00:20:30talking about your hobby or passion that
- 00:20:32would just fly over a beginner's head so
- 00:20:34if i'm making a video about cameras and
- 00:20:36maybe i'm talking to the camera i'm like
- 00:20:38hey do you want to get a shallow depth
- 00:20:40of field you might not know what that
- 00:20:42means if you don't know anything about
- 00:20:43cameras but if i say hey do you want to
- 00:20:44get that blurry background where you're
- 00:20:46in focus and everything behind you is
- 00:20:48out of focus and blurry that is beginner
- 00:20:50language and is really easy to
- 00:20:52understand as a beginner and this is
- 00:20:54very important for your titles because
- 00:20:55you want the person to actually
- 00:20:57understand your title and what it is
- 00:20:59that they are going to click on now when
- 00:21:00sean was talking about this point
- 00:21:02there's two things i wrote down that i
- 00:21:03gotta share with you one he said if you
- 00:21:05confuse you lose and then he also says
- 00:21:07you want to shoot for a fifth grade
- 00:21:09reading level so be thinking how can you
- 00:21:11simplify your title make it easier to
- 00:21:13read and easier to understand tip number
- 00:21:16two shorter is better now hold up though
- 00:21:19because there definitely is a disclaimer
- 00:21:21on this sean was saying it really
- 00:21:23doesn't matter if your title is long you
- 00:21:25know according to the algorithm you
- 00:21:27still can do well with a long title but
- 00:21:29the words that are up front matter the
- 00:21:31most first of all people's attention
- 00:21:33spans are really short so if you have a
- 00:21:34video that maybe says vlog 97 dash what
- 00:21:38i eat in a day you might want to flip
- 00:21:40this around because you want people to
- 00:21:42read what i eat in a day first they
- 00:21:43might be interested in that but if they
- 00:21:45read vlog 97 they're not interested in
- 00:21:48that they don't really care unless maybe
- 00:21:50they're a subscriber that's following
- 00:21:51along with your vlogs but what i eat in
- 00:21:53a day is broad in general to everyone
- 00:21:55you also need to be aware that long
- 00:21:57titles are going to get cut off at a
- 00:21:58certain point whether you're on mobile
- 00:22:00or desktop if your title's too long
- 00:22:02you're going to see dot dot so when you
- 00:22:04click on the video you can see the full
- 00:22:06title but when you're just browsing
- 00:22:07through youtube sometimes you can't see
- 00:22:09the full title if it's too long and this
- 00:22:12is why those words at the front are so
- 00:22:14important tip number three is to
- 00:22:16understand the viewer's intention now
- 00:22:18within this tip there's really two
- 00:22:20things to understand here and the first
- 00:22:21one is to not click bait you want
- 00:22:23someone to click on your video knowing
- 00:22:25what they're going to get not click on
- 00:22:26their video and trick them into getting
- 00:22:28into the video and then not giving them
- 00:22:30what they wanted because ultimately if
- 00:22:32you do that and people are clicking on
- 00:22:33your title thinking it's one thing but
- 00:22:35not actually getting that they're just
- 00:22:36gonna click right off and it is going to
- 00:22:38kill your average view duration which is
- 00:22:40really bad for the youtube algorithm so
- 00:22:42we want to avoid that now the second
- 00:22:44meaning to this tip is the chocolate

- 00:22:50actually talking about the chocolate

- 00:23:05viewers intent is and what they actually
- 00:23:08want for example let's take a look at
- 00:23:09the title of this very youtube video
- 00:23:12ultimately the video is about how to
- 00:23:13create a perfect youtube title but
- 00:23:15people don't really want to know how to
- 00:23:16make the perfect title what they really
- 00:23:18want is views they want clicks on their
- 00:23:21video now getting views would be that
- 00:23:23chocolate it's what they want it's the
- 00:23:25good stuff now on the inside is the
- 00:23:27vegetables the stuff that's actually
- 00:23:28good for you which is creating a good
- 00:23:31title because that is what's going to
- 00:23:32give you the views so you want to think
- 00:23:34about what the viewers want and what
- 00:23:36they need and you want to mesh those
- 00:23:38together not click bait them but deliver
- 00:23:40on that promise and i know that this is
- 00:23:42going to deliver on that promise that if
- 00:23:44you follow all of these steps in this
- 00:23:45video it is going to help your titles
- 00:23:47and it's going to help you get more
- 00:23:48views number four is practical tools you
- 00:23:51want to use real data and even some
- 00:23:53software to come up with good titles one
- 00:23:55thing i love to do is look for good
- 00:23:57titles that are already out on youtube
- 00:23:59so i'll search on youtube and also
- 00:24:00looking for videos that might have a
- 00:24:02similar title to what the video is that
- 00:24:04i'm going to release now specifically
- 00:24:06i'm looking at the view count to the
- 00:24:08subscriber count i'm looking for videos
- 00:24:10that have a lot of views but the channel
- 00:24:12doesn't have that many subscribers now

- 00:24:30now the reason i like to look at the
- 00:24:32subscriber vs view count is because if
- 00:24:34there's a bunch of views but there's not
- 00:24:36a lot of subscribers this means that
- 00:24:38this video is doing well in the youtube
- 00:24:40algorithm that youtube is actually
- 00:24:41promoting this video so that's a really
- 00:24:43good indicator to me that they're using
- 00:24:45a good title now to be clear i draw
- 00:24:47inspiration from these titles i look at
- 00:24:49the keywords they're using in their
- 00:24:51title maybe the way they've worded their
- 00:24:53title and then i use that to craft my
- 00:24:54own title for my video another really
- 00:24:57cool vid iq feature that i use to come
- 00:24:59up with good titles is actually when i'm
- 00:25:00uploading the video once i add in my
- 00:25:03tags if i go back up to the title it's
- 00:25:05going to give me some recommendations
- 00:25:06for adding in keywords to my title this
- 00:25:09is a really cool tool for ranking and
- 00:25:11search by adding in some of those
- 00:25:12keywords into your title is going to
- 00:25:14help you rank higher in the search
- 00:25:16another really cool tool that we use is
- 00:25:18called headline analyzer this is a
- 00:25:20coschedule.com we'll have another link
- 00:25:22in the description if you want to check
- 00:25:23it out and i just use the free version
- 00:25:25on their website all you got to do is
- 00:25:27put in your title and it's gonna give
- 00:25:28you a report back with a lot of really
- 00:25:30cool information and some really cool
- 00:25:32tips and i'll even give your title a
- 00:25:34score and tips on how to improve that
- 00:25:36title to get a higher score which brings
- 00:25:38me to tip number five and make sure you
- 00:25:39stay after for the bonus tip but tip
- 00:25:41number five is to write multiple titles
- 00:25:43it's always a good idea to brainstorm
- 00:25:45multiple titles and not just have one
- 00:25:47that you go after but actually have a
- 00:25:49few in your lineup and when you write
- 00:25:51these multiple titles it's great to get
- 00:25:53other people's perspectives and to see
- 00:25:54what other people think and which one
- 00:25:56they would click on especially if
- 00:25:58they're a beginner or outside of your
- 00:25:59niche and they look at your titles
- 00:26:01they're gonna give you some really good
- 00:26:02feedback they might be like oh that is
- 00:26:04some insider language i don't know what
- 00:26:05that means and this can help you rework
- 00:26:07your title to go through these five
- 00:26:08steps and make sure that you have the
- 00:26:10perfect youtube title now here's the
- 00:26:12bonus tip that a lot of people are not
- 00:26:14doing on youtube most people shoot their
- 00:26:15videos they write their titles do the
- 00:26:17thumbnail and then upload it to youtube
- 00:26:19but we actually want to do the opposite
- 00:26:21of that we actually recommend that you
- 00:26:22write your title first before shooting
- 00:26:25your video and then with that great idea
- 00:26:27and title you can write your content to
- 00:26:29execute on that idea all right so now
- 00:26:31you got your big idea and you even know
- 00:26:33how to package it with a great title and
- 00:26:35a great thumbnail and of course you have
- 00:26:37that great idea so now you're ready to
- 00:26:39script and make this youtube video and
- 00:26:41i'm going to share everything that goes
- 00:26:43into making a great youtube video so
- 00:26:45make sure that you are taking notes
- 00:26:46because you want to implement these tips
- 00:26:48and these tools into your script before
- 00:26:50you even make your video that way you
- 00:26:52don't get into editing and then you
- 00:26:54realize you don't have a lot of the
- 00:26:55stuff that i talked about that i told
- 00:26:57you you should include so you really
- 00:26:59want to make sure that you implement
- 00:27:00this stuff into your script and then you
- 00:27:02can shoot this stuff so that when you
- 00:27:03are editing you can piece it all
- 00:27:05together now the truth is the first 30
- 00:27:07seconds of your youtube video is the
- 00:27:09most important and one of the most
- 00:27:10common mistakes i see from a lot of
- 00:27:12failing youtubers is they aren't
- 00:27:13implementing a powerful hook if you are
- 00:27:15not getting views on your youtube videos
- 00:27:18then you have to start your videos the
- 00:27:20same way that successful youtubers are
- 00:27:22doing it he literally just combined all
- 00:27:24three methods into that one intro
- 00:27:27this is why he's getting millions of
- 00:27:28views now before we dissect the secret
- 00:27:30to creating engaging intros for your
- 00:27:33youtube videos you need to know that
- 00:27:34there's a few methods that you can use
- 00:27:36in your videos and yes this is going to
- 00:27:38work for informational channels
- 00:27:40entertainment channels any channel that
- 00:27:41you have this is going to work for you
- 00:27:44but the key here is that you have to
- 00:27:45understand each method and then decide
- 00:27:47which one is going to work best for your
- 00:27:49channel and for your specific video
- 00:27:52a hint here is that a lot of the
- 00:27:53successful youtube channels actually use
- 00:27:55multiple different methods inside of
- 00:27:57their intros we'll get into that you got
- 00:27:59to just press record the very beginning
- 00:28:01of a youtube video is so important
- 00:28:03channels that go viral and blow up they
- 00:28:06know this the beginning of your youtube
- 00:28:07video is called the intro and the
- 00:28:09purpose of the intro and why it's there
- 00:28:11is so that when the viewer experiences
- 00:28:13the intro they want to stick around and
- 00:28:15actually watch all of the content and
- 00:28:17here are some of the methods that
- 00:28:18successful youtubers are doing to keep
- 00:28:20you watching method number one tease
- 00:28:23what's coming up now i'm sure you've
- 00:28:25seen this done before not just on
- 00:28:26youtube but also on television
- 00:28:28oftentimes if you're watching some sort
- 00:28:29of reality tv show at the very beginning
- 00:28:31of the episode they're going to show you
- 00:28:32what's coming up and it's usually all
- 00:28:34the juicy stuff all the drama and that's
- 00:28:36what keeps you wanting to watch so at
- 00:28:38the beginning of your video how can you
- 00:28:40show the drama the highlights or even
- 00:28:41the moment leading up to the most
- 00:28:43exciting part of the video but then cut
- 00:28:45it off and this is you telling the
- 00:28:47viewer hey we got some good stuff coming
- 00:28:48up so you're going to want to stick
- 00:28:49around to see this this right here is a
- 00:28:51great example from a show called hot
- 00:28:53ones and at the very beginning of their
- 00:28:55youtube video they give us this
- 00:28:57oh mate that is
- 00:29:00that's the worst thing i've ever put in
- 00:29:01my mouth
- 00:29:03you can see that he's in some pain
- 00:29:05because he just ate some spicy hot wings
- 00:29:07which makes you want to watch
- 00:29:09which now seems a bit twisted admitting
- 00:29:11that i want to see him in pain from
- 00:29:13spicy hot wings that is so bad
- 00:29:16hey i guess it works this works really
- 00:29:18really well for vlogs but what about if
- 00:29:20you have an information channel so
- 00:29:22here's a great example this is a video
- 00:29:24podcast it's an hour long but in the
- 00:29:26first 15 to 30 seconds they want to show
- 00:29:28you why you should stay using this
- 00:29:30coming up method sometimes it's not
- 00:29:32about what decision you make just make
- 00:29:33one and commit to it i can't not know
- 00:29:36what the heck would happen if i didn't
- 00:29:39take the challenge or find out
- 00:29:42that's what will keep me up at night i
- 00:29:43think we need to start a new unbranding
- 00:29:45campaign
- 00:29:47sensei
- 00:29:48mcconaughey
- 00:29:51now that right there is a great example
- 00:29:52because they took some of the highlights
- 00:29:53they put it at the very beginning so now
- 00:29:55i want to stay and kind of hear his
- 00:29:56thoughts on those subjects and they
- 00:29:58added in some really good music to kind
- 00:30:00of convey that emotion of inspiration
- 00:30:03and motivation and that right there is a
- 00:30:04way better start to the youtube video
- 00:30:06rather than just getting in at the very
- 00:30:08beginning of the video podcast because
- 00:30:10now as the viewer i know it's coming up
- 00:30:11and i want to stay for that here's one
- 00:30:13more great example kind of from a
- 00:30:14tutorial based channel where they teach
- 00:30:16you how to do countertops make it look
- 00:30:18really cool for really cheap and this
- 00:30:19video is about how to do a stone effect
- 00:30:22for your countertops with epoxy let's
- 00:30:24check it out
- 00:30:26you want simple countertops in this
- 00:30:28video we're gonna i love that samples of
- 00:30:30adding in clips so as he talks about it
- 00:30:32you're actually seeing it happen as well
- 00:30:34the decorative part we're going to show
- 00:30:36you how to do marble spray and granite
- 00:30:38spray is your jam marble or would you
- 00:30:40rather have granite i love those shots
- 00:30:42it looks great it's a one-two punch i'm
- 00:30:44feeling frisky let's go
- 00:30:46that's another great example of talking
- 00:30:47to the camera and just telling you what
- 00:30:48the video is going to be about what
- 00:30:50you're going to experience in this video
- 00:30:52but then using b-roll using those clips
- 00:30:54later in the video overlaying it on the
- 00:30:56beginning and now they get to see what
- 00:30:57the finished product is going to look
- 00:30:59like and then the video shows them how
- 00:31:01to do it method number two this one has
- 00:31:03worked really well for us and this is
- 00:31:05get right into the action if you have a
- 00:31:06channel that is information based this
- 00:31:08can work really really well these are
- 00:31:10some of the highest performing videos
- 00:31:11for us in the first 30 seconds so in the
- 00:31:14intro people are actually staying the
- 00:31:15longest in these videos because we get
- 00:31:17right into the action we're gonna check
- 00:31:19out this video that was actually filmed
- 00:31:20at grow with video live which is an
- 00:31:22event that we throw every single year so
- 00:31:24we'll have a link in the description if
- 00:31:25you guys want to come and hang out with

- 00:31:28video but let's check out this intro
- 00:31:30youtube tags underrated nobody's using
- 00:31:32them properly still i think they're
- 00:31:33overrated youtube has come out and said
- 00:31:35that they're not really a big deal you
- 00:31:37got to just press record um i think
- 00:31:38they're a big deal when you're starting
- 00:31:39out i love you claire i love it so the
- 00:31:41video just keeps going there was never
- 00:31:43an intro there was never any sort of
- 00:31:45setup you really just got right into the
- 00:31:47action and as someone clicking on this
- 00:31:49video are youtube tags worthless you
- 00:31:51want to know the answer and as soon as
- 00:31:53you click on that video you're kind of
- 00:31:55getting two answers you're getting yes
- 00:31:56and no youtube tags underrated nobody's
- 00:31:59using them properly still i think
- 00:32:00they're overrated i love that there was
- 00:32:02no intro there was no hey guys we're
- 00:32:04growth video live my name is you know it
- 00:32:06was literally just the answer to the
- 00:32:08question of the video method number
- 00:32:09three this one seems a little bit weird
- 00:32:11at first but i promise if you stick
- 00:32:12around through all these examples you're
- 00:32:14going to understand it and that is
- 00:32:16reinforce the title let's start off
- 00:32:18right away with an example from mr beast
- 00:32:21who does this in almost every single
- 00:32:23video and you're going to see exactly
- 00:32:24what i'm talking about the title of this
- 00:32:26video is last to leave circle wins five
- 00:32:29hundred thousand dollars i want you to
- 00:32:30watch this video with me and listen to
- 00:32:32what he says he reinforces the title of
- 00:32:35the video i put 100 people inside of a
- 00:32:38giant circle and whoever leaves the
- 00:32:40circle last wins five hundred thousand
- 00:32:42dollars so even right there just six
- 00:32:44seconds and he's told us that people are
- 00:32:46in the circle and the last one to leave
- 00:32:47is going to win 500 000
- 00:32:49now here's the second half of his intro
- 00:32:51but if you touch the red line
- 00:32:54it's game over i don't care how long
- 00:32:56this takes whichever one of you leaves
- 00:32:58last wins half a million dollars
- 00:33:00and boom the intros done were 18 16 to
- 00:33:0318 seconds in and the video has started
- 00:33:05well officially started the intro's over
- 00:33:07now the content is happening so why does
- 00:33:09mr beast do this and why should you do
- 00:33:12this well first of all when someone
- 00:33:13clicks on your video and you tell them
- 00:33:14exactly what they're going to get and it
- 00:33:16matches the thumbnail and the title that
- 00:33:18they clicked on it builds trust with
- 00:33:20that viewer it lets you know that mr
- 00:33:21beast is not going to clickbait you he
- 00:33:23actually is going to give someone who
- 00:33:25leaves the circle last half a million
- 00:33:27dollars now another reason that he does
- 00:33:28this at the very beginning of his videos
- 00:33:30is because he wants to build more
- 00:33:32context in the first six seconds we find
- 00:33:34out some new information that there is a
- 00:33:36hundred people within the circle i put
- 00:33:38100 people inside of a giant circle and
- 00:33:41then he says that the last to leave wins
- 00:33:43500 000 but we already knew that piece
- 00:33:45of information just based off of the
- 00:33:47title and then in the second half of his
- 00:33:49intro from six seconds to 16 seconds he
- 00:33:52adds in some of the rules if you touch
- 00:33:54the line you're out so he's giving us
- 00:33:56more context more information and he's
- 00:33:58lying down the stakes for this video and
- 00:34:00then he says i don't care how long this
- 00:34:02takes the last one to leave the circle
- 00:34:04wins half a million dollars again he's
- 00:34:06setting the stage he's letting you know
- 00:34:08that this is going to take a long time
- 00:34:10and it's not going to be easy now
- 00:34:11there's a lot of information there that
- 00:34:13he wants to get in the beginning of the
- 00:34:15video but it doesn't all make it into
- 00:34:16the title and so this is a great way to
- 00:34:18reinforce the title but also add in a
- 00:34:20little bit of new information again if
- 00:34:22you have a channel that is not
- 00:34:23entertainment based you can totally use
- 00:34:25this and this is something that i do all
- 00:34:27the time now one of my best performing
- 00:34:29intros that actually had 80 retention
- 00:34:31rate at the 30 second mark i used method
- 00:34:34number three and not method one or two
- 00:34:36because it just didn't make sense for
- 00:34:37that video so let's see how i did this
- 00:34:39and the video titled youtube employee
- 00:34:41reveals the secret to getting views a
- 00:34:43youtube employee just revealed the
- 00:34:45secret to getting views on youtube okay
- 00:34:48right there four seconds in i reinstated
- 00:34:51i reinforced the title so people
- 00:34:52clicking on this they know i'm actually
- 00:34:54gonna give them what the title promises
- 00:34:56to give them let's watch the second half
- 00:34:58of this intro now what is that secret
- 00:35:00well we know that the youtube algorithm
- 00:35:02favors a video that is watched 90
- 00:35:04percent of the way through versus
- 00:35:05someone who watches 10 of a video this
- 00:35:08is called average view duration and
- 00:35:09people are wondering what's a good
- 00:35:11average view duration you know what kind
- 00:35:12of percentage do you actually need to
- 00:35:14get into the youtube algorithm and start
- 00:35:16getting views now in the second half of
- 00:35:18that intro i added in a whole lot more
- 00:35:20context i revealed that the real
- 00:35:22question we need to know on how to get
- 00:35:24views is what percentage average view
- 00:35:26iteration do we need on our videos
- 00:35:28meaning how well do our videos need to
- 00:35:30perform to actually get into the youtube
- 00:35:32algorithm and start getting views now
- 00:35:34this definitely wouldn't have worked
- 00:35:35with method number one or method number
- 00:35:36two because the whole point of this
- 00:35:38video was to reveal a piece of
- 00:35:40information that we got from a youtube
- 00:35:42employee which you could argue that i
- 00:35:43did do method one by teasing what was
- 00:35:45coming up but i didn't give them the
- 00:35:47final answer and i definitely didn't
- 00:35:49want to do method number two because the
- 00:35:50whole point of people clicking on that
- 00:35:52video was to receive that secret
- 00:35:54information and if i gave it to them
- 00:35:56right away they would just click off and
- 00:35:58leave so i actually wanted to tease the
- 00:35:59viewer a little bit by saying hey we
- 00:36:01have the information and then i wanted
- 00:36:03to explain to them what it is and how
- 00:36:05it's going to help them get views and
- 00:36:07also reveal to them why this information
- 00:36:09is legit too legit to quit
- 00:36:12i'm i'm sorry for that now here's one
- 00:36:14more example where the same idea is done
- 00:36:16but it's just done a little bit
- 00:36:17differently personally i saw this video
- 00:36:19i thought it was super interesting so i
- 00:36:20clicked on it and then i realized this
- 00:36:22intro is really cool and it got me
- 00:36:24hooked into the actual content so let's
- 00:36:26check it out we are out here in
- 00:36:27beautiful westlake hills this is where
- 00:36:28joe rogan lives lance armstrong matthew
- 00:36:30mcconaughey and so we are here gonna go
- 00:36:32knock on random doors and find out what
- 00:36:35people do for a living this is something
- 00:36:36since when i was a little kid i was like
- 00:36:38how do these people get rich and today
- 00:36:40we're gonna find out i've also always
- 00:36:41wanted to do this because i thought the
- 00:36:43same exact thing now though he doesn't
- 00:36:44repeat his title word for word he
- 00:36:46reinforces the title and the idea of the
- 00:36:49video and shows us how he's going to do
- 00:36:51it and he also adds in context as to
- 00:36:53where he is what kind of celebrities
- 00:36:55live in this area and then what he's
- 00:36:56going to do and he even shared his
- 00:36:57curiosity as a child that i resonated
- 00:37:00with and a lot of other people probably
- 00:37:01did too like i said earlier some of the
- 00:37:03most successful youtube channels
- 00:37:05actually combine all three methods into
- 00:37:07their intros and here's a video that
- 00:37:09does this really really well and all
- 00:37:11within 15 seconds but first it's
- 00:37:14important that you know you don't have
- 00:37:15to combine all three of these methods
- 00:37:17into every single one of your youtube
- 00:37:19intros most of the time at think media
- 00:37:21we're using two of the three methods
- 00:37:22sometimes one of the three methods so it
- 00:37:25definitely depends on the type of
- 00:37:26content and the specific video that you
- 00:37:28are making i recommend experimenting
- 00:37:30with these different methods with your
- 00:37:31content and seeing which one performs
- 00:37:33the best you definitely want to go into
- 00:37:34your youtube studio analytics look into
- 00:37:37what's performing well what's not
- 00:37:38performing well really think about why
- 00:37:40and what the viewer wants and what they
- 00:37:42were expecting in that video and from
- 00:37:44there you can adjust you can experiment
- 00:37:46more and continue to improve this is a
- 00:37:48video by erect that has 4.2 million
- 00:37:51views and it's called facing 100 fears
- 00:37:53in 24 hours let's check it out today i'm
- 00:37:56gonna be facing 100 fears starting with
- 00:37:58the fear of cockroaches now before my
- 00:38:00face gets locked in a box full of
- 00:38:01cockroaches i need to tell you that as
- 00:38:03time goes on the other fears in this
- 00:38:04video will get much more terrifying than
- 00:38:07this we have 24 hours to face all 100
- 00:38:09fears and the timer starts right now he
- 00:38:11literally just combined all three
- 00:38:13methods into that one intro
- 00:38:15this is why he's getting millions of
- 00:38:17views as soon as you clicked on his
- 00:38:19video he reinforced the title today i'm
- 00:38:21gonna be facing 100 fears then he just
- 00:38:23jumped right into the action starting
- 00:38:25with the fear of cockroaches now before
- 00:38:27my face gets locked in a box full of
- 00:38:28cockroaches but before you get what you
- 00:38:30came for he actually tells you what's
- 00:38:32going to come up later in the video i
- 00:38:33need to tell you that as time goes on
- 00:38:35the other fears in this video will get
- 00:38:37much more terrifying than this we have
- 00:38:3924 hours to face all 100 fears and the
- 00:38:41timer starts right now and then it comes
- 00:38:43back and he goes right back into the
- 00:38:45action
- 00:38:46[Applause]
- 00:38:48successful youtubers are amazing at
- 00:38:50getting people to keep watching their
- 00:38:52video all the way to the end and if you
- 00:38:54aren't following some of the principles
- 00:38:55that i'm going to share with you i
- 00:38:57promise you once you start implementing
- 00:38:58these you are gonna see a huge
- 00:39:00difference now we're covering the third
- 00:39:02part of our perfect video recipe and
- 00:39:05that is the content the content refers
- 00:39:07to what the viewer came for so right
- 00:39:09when they click onto the video this is
- 00:39:10where you're gonna have your hook you're
- 00:39:12gonna hook them into whatever the video
- 00:39:14is but that bulk of the video the meat
- 00:39:16of the video is going to be the content
- 00:39:19so before you ever even shoot your video
- 00:39:21in your script you really need to nail
- 00:39:22down the content that you're gonna
- 00:39:24deliver in the video on a practical
- 00:39:26level you clicked on this video because
- 00:39:28you want to grow on youtube you want to
- 00:39:30get views you want to make better videos
- 00:39:32but you really came for the advice or
- 00:39:34the tips that i'm going to give you in
- 00:39:36this video and maybe in your videos it
- 00:39:38might be advice but maybe it's
- 00:39:39entertainment or maybe it is motivation
- 00:39:41whatever it is the content is what they
- 00:39:43truly came for with that explained let
- 00:39:46me give you seven tips that are gonna
- 00:39:47help you level up your content on
- 00:39:49youtube so that you can start getting
- 00:39:51views tip number one is to lead your
- 00:39:53viewers down a path if your video is
- 00:39:55hard to follow along it just doesn't
- 00:39:57make sense it's all over the place
- 00:39:59people are gonna click off and watch
- 00:40:00something else so a very practical tip
- 00:40:02here for you guys that you can do to
- 00:40:04lead the viewers down a path that makes
- 00:40:06sense is actually number out your
- 00:40:08content whether that is tips or advice
- 00:40:11maybe you're talking about books and you
- 00:40:13can number that as the five best books
- 00:40:15for blank in this video i'm going over
- 00:40:16seven tips or kind of like seven rules
- 00:40:18that you should follow when actually
- 00:40:20making your content on youtube so
- 00:40:21whether this is numbered in tips or
- 00:40:23steps to follow along this is gonna make
- 00:40:25it really easy for the viewer to watch
- 00:40:27that video now if this doesn't make
- 00:40:29sense for your content what you can do
- 00:40:30when actually writing out your script is
- 00:40:32think in bullet points it's really
- 00:40:34important for you to think about those
- 00:40:35main points that you're gonna cover in
- 00:40:36that video tip number two is don't
- 00:40:38overthink the content you wanna make it
- 00:40:40really easy to watch and very digestible
- 00:40:43for that viewer so that previous tip
- 00:40:44with numbering or bullet pointing out
- 00:40:46your script and your video is gonna make
- 00:40:48this tip way easier because naturally as
- 00:40:50you break something down into sections
- 00:40:52it's a lot easier to teach someone those
- 00:40:54sections rather than just your thoughts
- 00:40:56all scrambled out on a script and then
- 00:40:58talking to the camera so that's going to
- 00:41:00make you go all over the place you
- 00:41:01really want to not overthink the content
- 00:41:03and make it easy for someone to
- 00:41:05understand tip number three is know who
- 00:41:07you are talking to when someone sees
- 00:41:09your thumbnail and title and they click
- 00:41:11on your video you want to connect with
- 00:41:13this person on a deep level a great
- 00:41:15example of this is sean back in the day
- 00:41:17used to talk about how in his videos he
- 00:41:19would refer to the bokeh as a blurry
- 00:41:21background because that's what just the
- 00:41:23beginner would call it and he was
- 00:41:24talking to beginners getting started in
- 00:41:27video and if he tried to explain it as a
- 00:41:29low aperture bokeh whatever kind of
- 00:41:31background it would just fly right over
- 00:41:33those people's head and because he was
- 00:41:35talking to beginners he just called it
- 00:41:37the blurry background and that's exactly
- 00:41:39what beginners were calling it this is
- 00:41:41actually a really hard tip because as
- 00:41:42you're talking to beginners you just
- 00:41:44naturally kind of use insider language
- 00:41:46that a beginner wouldn't really
- 00:41:47understand so you really have to think
- 00:41:49about the viewer and who is watching
- 00:41:51this video also think about the age
- 00:41:53demographic what kind of audience what
- 00:41:54kind of age range is going to be
- 00:41:56watching this video and how can you
- 00:41:57connect with them just simply being
- 00:41:59aware of who you're talking to and
- 00:42:01trying to connect with them is gonna
- 00:42:02take you really really far also your
- 00:42:04videos might be covering a pain point
- 00:42:06already but the more that you can
- 00:42:07actually touch on those pain points and
- 00:42:09talk about your own experiences and how
- 00:42:11maybe you've overcome it or even how
- 00:42:13you're struggling with those pain points
- 00:42:14too this is gonna help you connect with
- 00:42:17that person tip number four is be
- 00:42:18straight to the point don't confuse this
- 00:42:21with the hook of your video i have a
- 00:42:23video completely explaining how to start
- 00:42:25off your videos you should definitely
- 00:42:27watch that we'll leave a link in the
- 00:42:28description but this means once the
- 00:42:30content starts so as soon as your hook
- 00:42:32ends you want to get straight to the
- 00:42:33point now this doesn't mean to not be
- 00:42:35fun entertaining or engaging you still
- 00:42:37can be those things and i think you
- 00:42:39should be those things but you have to
- 00:42:40understand that when someone clicks on
- 00:42:42your video they want something and so
- 00:42:44giving that to them as soon as possible
- 00:42:46is going to help you ultimately youtube
- 00:42:49really values watch time and the longer
- 00:42:51that people watch your videos one of the
- 00:42:52worst things that you can do for your
- 00:42:54videos is not get right into it because
- 00:42:56people will click off and go watch a
- 00:42:58different video and this is a mistake i
- 00:43:00see a lot of youtubers make is they
- 00:43:02don't actually get into the promise of
- 00:43:04their title and thumbnail first what
- 00:43:06they do is they like vlog for like five
- 00:43:08minutes and then they actually talk
- 00:43:09about what was in the title and
- 00:43:11thumbnail so especially if you're just
- 00:43:12starting out and growing don't do that
- 00:43:14and i promise you this is going to help
- 00:43:16you a lot tip number five is to switch
- 00:43:18things up this could be by adding in
- 00:43:20b-roll to your shot so you're just not
- 00:43:21looking at me the whole time maybe
- 00:43:23you're looking at something else and a
- 00:43:24different shot that i took or one that i
- 00:43:26downloaded off of story blocks or some
- 00:43:28sort of website like that you could also
- 00:43:30just switch things up by moving
- 00:43:31locations when filming this is going to
- 00:43:33take a bit more time it can be a little
- 00:43:34more difficult but this is going to help
- 00:43:36switch things up and this is important
- 00:43:38because it keeps the viewer engaged and
- 00:43:40it keeps them watching longer you can do
- 00:43:42this in editing by adding in text or
- 00:43:44graphics or even changing the music as
- 00:43:46the video goes on as you can see in
- 00:43:47these videos i changed the music a lot

- 00:44:31tip number six is to show don't tell now
- 00:44:34there's a video that i was looking at
- 00:44:35recently and it got a lot of views and
- 00:44:37it did really well but there was a
- 00:44:38couple dips that i noticed and so i went
- 00:44:40back into my analytics and i wanted to
- 00:44:42see why were people dropping off at
- 00:44:44those specific points i'm gonna show you
- 00:44:46this quick video that i just recorded
- 00:44:48recently where i go in depth on what
- 00:44:50each of those sections mean and then
- 00:44:52we're going to come back and i am going
- 00:44:54to show you what my scripts look like
- 00:44:56and share some tips with you and go
- 00:44:58really in depth on how to actually write
- 00:45:01the script for your next youtube video
- 00:45:03so first check out this video you could
- 00:45:06see why someone would skip forward pass
- 00:45:07while i'm talking because i'm literally
- 00:45:09telling you that hey what's coming up is
- 00:45:12going to be this and so it's like why
- 00:45:13not just skip forward to that point i

- 00:45:20another dip in the video and it's
- 00:45:21because i said now coming up next i'm
- 00:45:23going to be talking about bullet points
- 00:45:24and how i use that for my script and
- 00:45:27then i'm going to share a hack with you
- 00:45:29that is going to help you get more likes
- 00:45:31by implementing this into your script
- 00:45:32and it's also going to help you with
- 00:45:34increasing your audience retention rate

- 00:45:38this video now there's really nothing
- 00:45:39wrong with saying hey coming up is going
- 00:45:41to be this and i do that sometimes just
- 00:45:42so people really know what's actually
- 00:45:44coming up the problem is if you make it
- 00:45:46too long and you're like hey make sure
- 00:45:47you comment and like and subscribe and
- 00:45:49hit the bell and do all this stuff
- 00:45:51people are gonna just skip right over
- 00:45:52that so i prefer to actually just have a
- 00:45:54subscribe button pop up and pop back
- 00:45:56down rather than me saying to subscribe
- 00:45:58to the channel which you should do but
- 00:45:59honestly just avoiding some of those
- 00:46:01words and some of those things that make
- 00:46:02people skip forward is going to help you
- 00:46:04increase your average view duration
- 00:46:06tremendously tip number seven this is
- 00:46:08the most important tip on the list and
- 00:46:10this is a huge mistake that i see tons
- 00:46:11of youtubers are always making on their
- 00:46:13videos the mistake is that youtubers are
- 00:46:15not using the transition method if you
- 00:46:18aren't doing this you're literally
- 00:46:19missing out on a massive opportunity of
- 00:46:21bringing views to old videos but also to
- 00:46:23your new videos as well the transition
- 00:46:25method it's super important and i know
- 00:46:27you're wondering what it is you already
- 00:46:29know it's the fourth ingredient into
- 00:46:30creating that perfect youtube video now
- 00:46:32this fourth ingredient is just as
- 00:46:34important as the previous three and you
- 00:46:36have to really understand how it works
- 00:46:38and how you can use it in your videos so
- 00:46:40check out this segment and then i'm
- 00:46:41going to give you the last step that you
- 00:46:43need in order to truly get views on
- 00:46:46youtube one of the keys to getting more
- 00:46:48views on youtube is your session time in
- 00:46:50this video we implemented this strategy
- 00:46:52that shot us up in views and ranked us
- 00:46:54in search so now we're getting more
- 00:46:56views than when we originally posted
- 00:46:58that video and that's the beauty of this
- 00:47:00strategy is that this is gonna work on
- 00:47:02your old videos you know those videos
- 00:47:04that get like two views every 48 hours
- 00:47:06yeah those ones we are going to revive
- 00:47:09them back to life so here's how it works
- 00:47:11the most underrated hack for getting
- 00:47:13more views on your old youtube videos is
- 00:47:15getting people to watch your video all
- 00:47:17the way through and then watch another
- 00:47:19one another one nolan end cards are an
- 00:47:21old thing dude come on yes but you've
- 00:47:24been doing it wrong no one actually
- 00:47:25clicks on your end cards
- 00:47:27no one actually makes it to your end
- 00:47:29cards ouch
- 00:47:31boom roasted
- 00:47:33so let me share with you what not to do
- 00:47:35and then i'm gonna tell you exactly what
- 00:47:36you need to do to make this strategy
- 00:47:38work now think media we work with a ton
- 00:47:41of youtubers and there is a common
- 00:47:42mistake that i see when people share
- 00:47:44their videos inside of our facebook
- 00:47:45group or when they share their videos
- 00:47:47inside of the youtube challenges that we

- 00:48:06this the right way you can revive an old
- 00:48:08video but also push that current video
- 00:48:10into the youtube algorithm this is
- 00:48:12because youtube values session time and
- 00:48:15this is basically when someone binge
- 00:48:16watches your videos and they keep
- 00:48:18watching video after video loki youtube
- 00:48:20does want you to send people down a
- 00:48:22rabbit hole which i've been down many
- 00:48:24rabbit holes on youtube you might be on
- 00:48:26one right now i don't know now honestly
- 00:48:28i bet all of you can actually prove that
- 00:48:30this method works i don't know about you
- 00:48:32but if you've ever binge watched a
- 00:48:33couple videos say by mr beast the next
- 00:48:35time you close youtube and then open it
- 00:48:37back up guess who's there
- 00:48:39mr beast
- 00:48:42and you're probably gonna end up
- 00:48:43clicking on one of them in this video
- 00:48:44that i showed you guys earlier we had 27
- 00:48:46000 views in the first 79 days and then
- 00:48:50i implemented the strategy and then it
- 00:48:52jumped up to 30 000 views and it's been
- 00:48:54on this upward trajectory ever since and
- 00:48:57this is because that this strategy
- 00:48:59actually helped it jump up a little bit
- 00:49:00in views but then helped it rank and
- 00:49:02search even higher so now it's getting
- 00:49:04more views through search day after day
- 00:49:06now in essence the strategy seems super
- 00:49:09simple get someone to watch your video
- 00:49:10and then at the very end of the video
- 00:49:12get them to watch another one
- 00:49:14but it's a little bit more complicated
- 00:49:16than that and these tips are going to
- 00:49:17help you tremendously so take notes on
- 00:49:19all of these and implement this into
- 00:49:21your next youtube video tip number one
- 00:49:24don't close don't make it sound or look
- 00:49:26like you are closing out the video don't
- 00:49:28say finally or for this last tip or
- 00:49:31lastly those are words that make people
- 00:49:33think you're ending the video and they
- 00:49:34are going to click out tip number two is
- 00:49:36to make that end card your last tip of
- 00:49:38the video in this video i actually have
- 00:49:40a bonus tip and this tip leads directly
- 00:49:43into another video so check this out now
- 00:49:45here's the bonus tip that a lot of
- 00:49:46people are not doing on youtube most
- 00:49:48people shoot their videos they write
- 00:49:50their titles do the thumbnail and then
- 00:49:51upload it to youtube but we actually
- 00:49:53want to do the opposite of that we
- 00:49:55actually recommend that you write your
- 00:49:56title first before shooting your video
- 00:49:59and then with that great idea and title
- 00:50:01you can write your content to execute on
- 00:50:04that idea now if you want to learn how

- 00:50:12straight into another video and it makes
- 00:50:14them want to watch and it also helps the
- 00:50:16video feel like it's not ending because
- 00:50:18it's the very last tip so they're
- 00:50:19watching to the very end and then they
- 00:50:21want to go on to the next thing tip
- 00:50:23number three is to make it their next
- 00:50:25step this could be a part two to a part
- 00:50:27one video or just the logical next step
- 00:50:29that they should take if you have a
- 00:50:30gaming channel and your game walkthrough
- 00:50:32is all of level one the end card should
- 00:50:34be level two because that's the logical
- 00:50:36next step that they should go and watch
- 00:50:38or if you have a fishing channel and you
- 00:50:40made a video on how to cast your fishing
- 00:50:42rod the next step might be how to reel
- 00:50:44in the fish i'm not a fisher so i don't
- 00:50:47really know but that feels like the next
- 00:50:48logical step tip number four is to end
- 00:50:51your video by introducing a new problem
- 00:50:53let's say i had a fishing channel which
- 00:50:55is highly unlikely but let's say i had a
- 00:50:57channel and my video was how to cast
- 00:50:59your fishing rod this is how i would end
- 00:51:02that video now as a beginner one of the
- 00:51:03biggest problems you'll run into when
- 00:51:05casting your fishing rod is if there's
- 00:51:07high winds so click on the screen and
- 00:51:09i'm gonna walk you through how to cast a
- 00:51:11fishing rod in high winds
- 00:51:13that would work because what i did is i
- 00:51:15said hey there's more problems out there
- 00:51:17for you to solve here's another problem
- 00:51:19that i can help you solve now i know i'm
- 00:51:21gonna get some comments of people saying
- 00:51:22what if i don't have that video yet well
- 00:51:24that can be your very next video and
- 00:51:26it's okay if the people for the first
- 00:51:28week don't have that video in the
- 00:51:29description you can just say video
- 00:51:31coming soon and then next week that
- 00:51:33could be your video and then once you
- 00:51:34have a library of videos you can start
- 00:51:36referencing your old videos now this
- 00:51:39next tip is by far the most effective
- 00:51:41tip of them all and it's the one that i
- 00:51:43found that works the best and this is
- 00:51:44called the must watch method what you
- 00:51:47want to do here at the end of your video
- 00:51:49is convince them that if they don't
- 00:51:50watch this next video then this entire
- 00:51:53video that you just spent your time
- 00:51:54watching is completely
- 00:51:56useless and how do you do that well you
- 00:51:58do it by making the next video a key
- 00:52:00element of what you're teaching meaning
- 00:52:02that if they don't go and watch this
- 00:52:04next video then these previous steps
- 00:52:06will not work it's literally a must
- 00:52:08watch an example would be like if you
- 00:52:09have a cooking channel and you're making
- 00:52:11a video on how to grill the perfect
- 00:52:13steak and at the end of the video you
- 00:52:15could say hey in order to make a really
- 00:52:17juicy steak it doesn't come down to just
- 00:52:20grilling the steak you actually have to
- 00:52:21make sure that you marinate it and
- 00:52:23season it correctly so click on the
- 00:52:25screen watch that video or else your
- 00:52:27steak's just not going to taste so good
- 00:52:29so make sure you add into your script
- 00:52:31the transition method so you can send
- 00:52:33them to another one of your videos and
- 00:52:34that is the perfect video recipe but
- 00:52:37like i said i have one final thing for
- 00:52:39you guys to start getting views on
- 00:52:41youtube and that last and final tip
- 00:52:44would be to practice you have to just
- 00:52:46get started even if you don't want to
- 00:52:48use any of these tips or any of these
- 00:52:50tools in this video that's okay just get
- 00:52:53out there start shooting something start
- 00:52:54writing something start creating
- 00:52:57something and post on youtube we all
- 00:52:59start with zero subscribers and zero
- 00:53:01views and zero videos uploaded so just
- 00:53:04start making videos and if it's bad it's
- 00:53:07okay your first videos should be bad you
- 00:53:09should learn as you go and you are going
- 00:53:11to learn as you go your first videos
- 00:53:13probably are going to be pretty bad sean
- 00:53:15says your first videos are your worst
- 00:53:17videos and that's true when you look
- 00:53:19back you're gonna see how much you've
- 00:53:20grown but that's only if you take action
- 00:53:23and just start making videos now i
- 00:53:26totally understand if this is
- 00:53:27overwhelming for you especially if
- 00:53:29you've never posted a youtube video yet
- 00:53:31and that's exactly why i show you how to
