    the street so that's kind of the

    progression of how that works so you do

    terminology that's exactly how the law

    if you see a pedestrian Crossing you

    question on uh a test when I was

    teaching driver's ed in the classroom uh

    and yeah I I did trick questions all the

    time uh really want you guys to think

    not just memorize so the question

    was a driver is going 10 m an hour

    underneath the posted speed limit but

    the roads are
  • 00:10:06
    icy can a police officer give that
  • 00:10:08
    driver a speeding
  • 00:10:11
    ticket the answer is yes they are going
  • 00:10:14
    too fast for the conditions so uh be
  • 00:10:19
    aware of that and sometimes our roads

    are just terrible and the speed limits
  • 00:10:24
    are not uh appropriate at all um
  • 00:10:30
    and the best way to know that by the way

    and we'll cover that when we get into

    talking about weather driving in

    different weather conditions I've told

    taught and told all of my students and

    my own kids first thing you do on an icy
  • 00:10:43
    snowy uh morning if you have to drive to

    school or someplace you get out in your
  • 00:10:48
    neighborhood and kind of Slam on the
  • 00:10:49
    brake step on the brake hard with nobody
  • 00:10:52
    around you you know and test see what
  • 00:10:54
    happens if your car slides uh and you
  • 00:10:56
    can't come to the normal stop then you
  • 00:10:58
    know there's an issue with the road
  • 00:11:01
    conditions and so your speed limit is
  • 00:11:03
    going to have to be lower right your
  • 00:11:05
    speed uh the maximum speed in Idaho is
  • 00:11:08
    75 miles hour on freeways unless
  • 00:11:11
    otherwise posted now that's interesting

    because there are a few locations where

    it is posted 80 but in general if you

    are asked this question anywhere what's

    the maximum speed limit in Idaho it's 75

    with the

    asterisk there are a few places where

    it's posted 80 so that's why it means

    unless otherwise posted vehicles with

    five more axles which we're talking

    about semi- trucks here and over 26,000

    lbs must drive no faster than 10 m hour

    under the posted speed limit so like

    here there's a speed limit sign that

    said 70 all trucks big trucks have to

    they no no by law they have to they have

    um that's a safety thing it takes them

    so much longer to stop and it's a danger

    it's a hazard if they are going the same

    speed that a little tiny convertible or

    any small car is going um it's just a

    different it's physics it's different uh

    minimum speeds there is a minimum speed

    Believe It or Not uh it is illegal to

    drive so slowly that you disrupt the

    flow of traffic so you have to you have

    to drive um

    either the speed limit or close to it uh

    without going over it um honestly if you

    are I mean that's the law so um is are
  • 00:12:40
    you going to get pulled over if you're
  • 00:12:41
    going the speed limit and there's people

    behind you honking and
  • 00:12:45
    tailgating while that's stressful I do
  • 00:12:48
    not think you would get a ticket you are
  • 00:12:50
    going the speed limit you are
  • 00:12:52
    driving as fast as um a person is
  • 00:12:57
    allowed to in that situation ation um
  • 00:12:59
    but the law also says it's illegal to
  • 00:13:02
    drive so slowly that you disrupt the

    normal flow of traffic I would move over

    so I would still move over don't don't

    if you can right if there's multiple

    Lanes move over let people go past you

    just know that people will speed people

    will speed and I grew up in Idaho I've

    been here for a long time and people

    would drive five miles per hour over

    that was kind of the expect not the

    expectation that's the wrong word that's

    this this the standard that's the

    average the people were driving even

    though it's against the law um and as

    people have moved to our state I've

    noticed that it is now definitely closer

    to 10 and sometimes 15 miles an hour

    over the speed limit that is just the

    flow of traffic

    it's it's all I can say is it's illegal

    um and don't get caught up with in it

    you know P just move to the right lane

    um the left lane is for passing move to

    the right side and let those people who

    are are willing to take that risk go by

    you so um you may also not travel in the

    far left lane if you're impeding the

    flow of traffic traveling at a lawful

    speed there's a fine line there right uh

    if you're going the speed limit and

    you're in the left lane that should be

    okay but there's also another law that

    says you have to stay to the right as

    much as possible you know if possible

    that means you can't spin out burn your

    they want to see who has the faster car

    that's against the law uh definitely all

    car but throw a bunch of buddies in the

    back of your truck and drive around it's

    strange law second one motorcycle

    helmets are only required for those
