00:00:00
Have you noticed that your boss is a visionary, that whenever he is in
00:00:03
meetings or he or she's in meetings, and they're always talking about
00:00:05
the future of an industry, and maybe you might find it very difficult
00:00:09
to get them aware of the tactics of the projects or the ideas you want
00:00:12
to have, because they're thinking so far out.
00:00:14
Or on the flip side, do you want to be a member of that executive team
00:00:18
in your company, but you need, you realize that that requires you to
00:00:21
become more visionary.
00:00:22
So if you are having these, any of these situations and in this video,
00:00:26
what I want to share with you is how you can become more visionary.
00:00:29
Now I get it.
00:00:30
You might realize, and you might be working with some coworkers that
00:00:32
you might feel like, well, they're born like that.
00:00:35
It seems like they're naturally visionary, but I'm naturally non
00:00:37
visionary.
00:00:38
And yes, I understand some people have like natural inclination
00:00:41
towards thinking like a visionary or thinking in the future tense.
00:00:45
However, becoming a visionary, the skills of visionary thinking can be
00:00:50
trained.
00:00:51
We're not all born with it.
00:00:52
Just like we're not all born great communicators.
00:00:54
We're not all born natural leaders or natural naturally able to see
00:00:58
the future of an industry.
00:00:59
But these are skillsets that can be trained.
00:01:01
Even if you feel that you don't, you're not born with that natural
00:01:05
inclination.
00:01:06
So that's good news.
00:01:07
So in this video, I want to share with you three key pillars.
00:01:09
You want to develop this leadership skills.
00:01:12
You want to develop the visionary qualities.
00:01:14
And these are three pillars that the moment you are able to develop
00:01:17
these three key pillars that you will develop your visionary
00:01:21
qualities, the visionary traits that you see in your colleagues in
00:01:24
your higher ups.
00:01:25
So I'm going to go through these three pillars in turn in the video.
00:01:28
And at the end of the video, you're going to have a blueprint on where
00:01:31
to focus on what to work on step-by-step to develop these three
00:01:36
pillars so that you can become a visionary.
00:01:38
So let's go for a walk and talk about this.
00:01:39
So three pillars, when you develop these pillars in turn, that you
00:01:43
will be able to notice yourself having visionary qualities that are
00:01:46
observable.
00:01:48
Pillar number one is insight it's insight.
00:01:50
What does insight mean?
00:01:52
We hear this a lot, but I want to give you a clear distinction on what
00:01:55
insight really means.
00:01:56
Having insight, insight itself is a deep understanding that when you
00:02:00
have that level of understanding, you can turn your learnings into new
00:02:05
wisdom that can be applied across disciplines to create a clear
00:02:09
outcome.
00:02:09
That is insight.
00:02:10
It is very different from knowledge.
00:02:12
Insight does not equal knowledge.
00:02:15
Hopefully knowledge turns into insight, but not always.
00:02:18
And here's why, because we've been programmed at a very young age to
00:02:22
learn, to read, to take courses, to take classes we've been taught to
00:02:27
read in any of those educational contexts.
00:02:29
To read to memorize certain things, to memorize facts and figures and
00:02:33
information, and therefore to regurgitate them on the exam or to
00:02:36
regurgitate them when we need them the most.
00:02:38
That's how we've been taught to learn.
00:02:40
And as a result of these learning, these teachings on how to learn, we
00:02:44
therefore developed this vernacular of when we read new things or to
00:02:48
learn what we're reading, we tend to criticize it.
00:02:51
We tend to criticize it as either right or wrong, either relevant or
00:02:55
irrelevant and so on.
00:02:56
And so when we progressively take on that capability of learning or
00:03:01
that mindset of learning that prevents us from developing deeper
00:03:05
insights, because here's the progression, we learn and that's what
00:03:09
we're doing.
00:03:09
We're accumulating knowledge.
00:03:11
But knowledge does not mean insight.
00:03:13
We have to, first of all, assimilate that knowledge into an
00:03:16
understanding and from a deep understanding, we can synthesize new
00:03:19
wisdom.
00:03:20
That is insight.
00:03:21
So in order to do that, it requires a different way of learning
00:03:24
different way of reading.
00:03:25
When we read, instead of trying to read to memorize and therefore
00:03:29
regurgitate or recall what we've learned, this is now learning to
00:03:32
create new mental models, new understandings, and cognitive
00:03:36
understandings of the world around us, in the area that we are reading
00:03:39
and with the intention of creating insight.
00:03:42
So if you're somebody who's listening to this and you recognize the
00:03:45
importance of insight, and you recognize this in your bosses, your
00:03:48
higher ups as well, that they have deep insights in areas of expertise
00:03:52
and their areas of knowledge as well.
00:03:54
And you might notice that visionaries, those people who have visionary
00:03:57
qualities.
00:03:58
You're going to notice that when you spend time with them, that they
00:04:01
very quickly develop insights in new areas as well, not necessarily
00:04:04
their key area of expertise, but they very quickly develop new
00:04:08
insights.
00:04:09
And that really is a particular modality of learning.
00:04:12
So if you're somebody who wants to develop this skill.
00:04:15
How do I develop deep understanding insights in new domains and in my
00:04:19
current domain as well.
00:04:20
If that's what you are committed to developing for yourself in this
00:04:24
year, and next year, then I invite you to book a call with me and work
00:04:27

00:04:28
Every single week I coach and I mentor a group of clients on how to
00:04:33

00:04:37
thinking, how to be able to articulate the insights as well in a way
00:04:41
that your higher ups can understand, right?
00:04:43
So below this video, in the description below this video, the first
00:04:46

00:05:08
well, that where we are working on becoming visionaries, working on
00:05:11
how do we develop these critical thinking and communicate the value
00:05:15
that we have to bring.
00:05:16
So only if you're serious about creating this outcome for you and your
00:05:19
career path, so that you can step up into higher levels of leadership,
00:05:22
if that is you then book a call and I look forward to working with you
00:05:26
on the inside.
00:05:27
Pillar number two, imagination, right?
00:05:29
Pillar number one is insight, pillar number two is imagination.
00:05:33
What is imagination?
00:05:35
We've been told as children to develop our imaginations.
00:05:39
And as adults we've been told that children have very vivid
00:05:42
imaginations.
00:05:43
So I want to give you a distinction around imagination as well.
00:05:46
When it comes to imagination it simply means to picture oneself.
00:05:50
And that's exactly what it means.
00:05:52
If you look at the Latin, the word imagination comes from a Latin word
00:05:57
imaginati, which simply means to imagine oneself and imagination is
00:06:02
really the mind's, one of the mind's greatest superpowers is our
00:06:06
ability to imagine it is one of our mind's greatest superpowers.
00:06:11
And if you look at the visionaries around you, it could be on your
00:06:14
executive team or the higher ups that you're working with.
00:06:16
If you look at these visionaries, you're going to notice that they
00:06:18
have an, an ability to picture things in their minds before it exists
00:06:24
inside this world.
00:06:25
If you look at everything around you, right, I'm surrounded by houses,
00:06:29
right?
00:06:29
I'm sitting on a bench right now, right?
00:06:30
I got in a car to get here, everything that we have access to in our
00:06:35
lives, everything that we own, all of these things that are in our
00:06:38
physical world, our surroundings that we can touch, we can feel, we
00:06:42
can see all of these things existed in someone else's mind before it
00:06:47
existed in your hands.
00:06:48
Even the house that you live in on your block that existed in the
00:06:52
architect's mind before it existed on the street and the street
00:06:54
corner.
00:06:55
So this is the mind's greatest superpower imagination.
00:07:00
And one of the biggest blockers to our imagination is that we've been
00:07:04
so caught up in the doing we've been so caught up, being busy, doing
00:07:08
our task, checking up our to-do lists, doing that what we're told,
00:07:12
doing what we think we're supposed to do, doing what we think we
00:07:14
should do or ought to do or need to do.
00:07:16
And so on.
00:07:17
We've been so caught up in that, and that's one of the biggest
00:07:20
blockers of our imagination is that we feel that we need to do, we
00:07:25
need to perform.
00:07:25
We need to do and do and do.
00:07:28
So when it comes to developing this pillar, it's important to take a
00:07:31
step back and ask yourself certain key questions, for example, what
00:07:36
would happen if, what would happen if, what might be the outcome if.
00:07:41
So, being the first step of imagination is daring to ask the question
00:07:45
what if, because imagination means going back to what I shared
00:07:49
earlier, it is picturing something in your mind, picture in oneself or
00:07:53
picture something in your mind before it exists in the real world.
00:07:57
In order to do that, it is an if question, a question of if.
00:08:01
The imagination allows us to explore a different future, explore a
00:08:06
different direction, explore what is possible, right?
00:08:10
So that is the first step into becoming into becoming imaginative,
00:08:14
because that really is the key for visionaries.
00:08:17
The second pillar for visionaries is to have an imagination and a lot
00:08:21
of visionaries that you're going to work with have such vivid
00:08:24
imaginations.
00:08:25
And that's what allows them to create things that don't yet exist to
00:08:28
create product ideas, to create process ideas, to create whole new
00:08:33
companies and whole new market ideas as well, and market offerings as
00:08:37
a result of that and improved versions of the future as well.
00:08:41
Right?
00:08:41
So that is the second pillar, is imagination.
00:08:43

00:09:11
And I look forward to hearing your comments there as well.
00:09:13
So what did we cover so far?
00:09:15
Three pillars to develop so that you can develop your visionary
00:09:19
capabilities.
00:09:19
First pillar was insight.
00:09:21
Second pillar was imagination.
00:09:23
And the third pillar is intuition.
00:09:25
Intuition.
00:09:26
So what is our intuition?
00:09:28
There's a lot of misinformation about out there, around what intuition
00:09:32
is and what it is not.
00:09:33
So let me give you a distinction.
00:09:35
When it comes to intuition, it comes from the Latin word intuit, which
00:09:38
means to perceive.
00:09:40
So an intuition is to perceive through our senses so that we can get a
00:09:44
bigger picture of what actually is.
00:09:46
And that is our intuition.
00:09:48
So when it comes to intuition, intuition is not the same as your gut
00:09:51
instinct, right?
00:09:52
How many of you has said that before?
00:09:54
Well, I feel it in my gut, right?
00:09:55
I have this gut feeling.
00:09:56
It is very different than intuition.
00:09:58
Your gut instincts are literally, that's what it is.
00:10:02
It's an instinct.
00:10:03
It's an instinct that causes us to avoid pains.
00:10:06
It causes us to move towards something pleasing to us and bring
00:10:09
pleasure to us.
00:10:10
That's an instinctual reaction, which is very different from an
00:10:14
intuition.
00:10:15
An intuition allows you to perceive things that are deeper as well.
00:10:18
And the great news about intuition is that it's not about needing to
00:10:21
develop it or strengthen it.
00:10:23
And that's where the missing a lot of misinformation is out there.
00:10:26
Your intuition is innate.
00:10:28
We all have an intuition.
00:10:29
Every human has an intuition.
00:10:31
It's about honing our abilities, developing our abilities to
00:10:34
understand it.
00:10:35
So if you are somebody who is wanting to know, how do I do that?
00:10:39
Then the next video coming up next, you don't have to go anywhere
00:10:42
coming up right up next is a video that I I recorded earlier to talk
00:10:47
about how do you develop your intuition?
00:10:49
How do you hone it in to listen to it?
00:10:51
And how do you know that this is my intuition versus my gut feeling or
00:10:54
my gut instinct?
00:10:55
So that video is coming right up next.
00:10:57
I'll see you there.
