00:00:00
all right it's springtime so we're gonna
00:00:01
do a deep clean on our gas grill this is
00:00:04
our daily driver here frankly I don't
00:00:06
think we've actually cleaned it in two
00:00:08
seasons so this is gonna be really grimy
00:00:10
and we'll show you how to do a deep
00:00:12
clean both on the outside as well as the
00:00:14
inside including your grill grates to
00:00:16
flavor I've serve ours and all you're
00:00:18
gonna need for this is a brush some
00:00:21
grill floss this is optional scraper
00:00:23
stainless steel wool some scouring pads
00:00:26
a little bit of dish detergent
00:00:27
we prefer dawn because it's great for
00:00:29
getting off grease and then two other
00:00:32
optional things we've got some steel
00:00:34
buffer or cleaner and then we've got a
00:00:36
little bit of oil just a three-season
00:00:38
the grill of yet all right let's jump
00:00:41
into this so the first thing we're gonna
00:00:45
want to do is just get these grill
00:00:47
grates cleaned up if you want to just
00:00:49
see how dirty and grimy these are we
00:00:52
actually cook burgers last night and we
00:00:53
intentionally didn't clean up the grill
00:00:55
just because I want to show you this
00:00:57
grill floss and how amazing it is as
00:01:00
opposed to using a grill brush that can
00:01:01
oftentimes release metal fibers into
00:01:05
your grill and potentially get into your
00:01:06
food these things just come with a
00:01:08
little hook and there's four different
00:01:10
attachments that this comes with so each
00:01:13
one of the attachments has a slightly
00:01:14
different gauge and you can just find
00:01:16
the one that fits in your grill properly
00:01:18
but it goes right around your grill
00:01:21
grates and it just gets off all of that
00:01:24
grime so if you want the perfect clean
00:01:28
grill after every cook I'd highly
00:01:31
recommend what Hampus let's put a link
00:01:34
down the description below
00:01:35
super super affordable and crazy durable
00:01:39
like you never have to worry about this
00:01:40
wearing out it's all stainless steel and
00:01:44
great little tool to have so if you're
00:01:46
on lockdown in your house this is the
00:01:48
perfect chore to do if you've got a
00:01:50
little bit of extra spare time get your
00:01:52
grill ready for the summer grilling
00:01:53
season so now that we've got the grill
00:01:56
grates scraped of all the large chunks
00:01:58
we've just used some nitrile gloves we
00:02:01
usually use these in our cooks but
00:02:02
that's just gonna prevent your hands
00:02:03
from getting totally messy here we're
00:02:05
gonna remove the grates and we'll put
00:02:07
them in a hot water bath with a little
00:02:09
bit of a Dawn dish soap what those soak
00:02:11
away while we clean the rest of the
00:02:13
grill now we've got access to the flavor
00:02:16
ice our bars and the smoke box and
00:02:18
similarly we're gonna want to remove any
00:02:21
of the excess fat that's actually
00:02:24
rendered down and built up on some of
00:02:25
these flavor isit bars so we just use a
00:02:29
scraper like this and don't forget the
00:02:33
underside of these bars as well you'd be
00:02:36
surprised how much John actually
00:02:38
collects there and we're just gonna go
00:02:40
down each of these flavor isobars again
00:02:42
removing any fat that's rendered down
00:02:44
any cheese if you've made cheeseburgers
00:02:46
and have that go through the grate
00:02:47
really anything that's just built up on
00:02:50
these and then we'll put this in the hot
00:02:52
water so bath at the end as well
00:02:54
now the flavorings are bars removed and
00:02:57
just pull out the smoke box I'll add
00:03:00
this into the hot water bath as well now
00:03:04
let's go tackle the rest of the grill
00:03:05
while we let this soak away now first
00:03:08
the inside of the grill we're gonna want
00:03:10
to take our scraper and just scrape off
00:03:12
all this junk into this middle part
00:03:14
where you should have a trade down below
00:03:16
it catches all the grease that
00:03:18
ultimately drips down into the bottom of
00:03:20
your grill so you just want to scrape
00:03:22
that into that tray now we're just gonna
00:03:25
take our brush here
00:03:26
and there's all the degrees that just
00:03:29
collects along the edges of the trail
00:03:31
great and you're gonna want to brush
00:03:32
that down into the base of the grill as
00:03:34
well and now you're gonna want to just
00:03:39
go like this
00:03:41
over top of your burner elements and
00:03:44
you're gonna want to brush the same way
00:03:46
as the openings in your burner elements
00:03:50
and that's just so that you're not
00:03:51
actually pushing any grime into these
00:03:53
little holes and blocking them up or
00:03:55
clogging spot and as you're scraping
00:03:57
this off make sure you try and get any
00:04:00
of the grime off the actual edges
00:04:03
putting your grill that's not yours
00:04:05
right now you don't have to get this
00:04:08
perfect but just we're trying to scrape
00:04:10
off whatever grind with you
00:04:12
similarly go on the back hood of your
00:04:14
grill we're just trying to remove the
00:04:18
bulk of the grease now with all that
00:04:22
cleaned out we can loosen under here
00:04:27
and grab at this train and just look at
00:04:30
all this junk that was taken out of the
00:04:32
grille
00:04:32
so let's empty this out and then we're
00:04:34
gonna clean Ian's tray itself now we're
00:04:36
gonna try and get some of this grime on
00:04:38
the side of the grill so we're just
00:04:40
gonna take a scouring pad with a little
00:04:42
bit of soap and water and some elbow
00:04:44
grease yes there's any stuck on spots
00:04:47
like that just use a little steel wool
00:04:50
no problem comes right off all right so
00:04:54
I'll just give that a rinse now with
00:04:55
some cold water get it cleaned off done
00:04:59
[Music]
00:05:02
and don't forget to get your knobs you
00:05:06
can see here we've had some birds that
00:05:08
have just had some direct shots to our
00:05:10
actual gas knob it's incredible how they
00:05:12
can fit that thank you
00:05:14
so make sure you get your knobs cleaned
00:05:17
up
00:05:18
[Music]
00:05:20
I find this particularly good just for
00:05:23
getting in these little groups around
00:05:24
the dials drill and that will come over
00:05:30
and do this side again we're just
00:05:32
cleaning it off here a little bit of a
00:05:35
scouring pad now with the side burner
00:05:41
and we're just gonna reach in here get
00:05:43
out any of that junk that's left over
00:05:44
from the fall we're really just trying
00:05:47
to remove some of it grind make sure we
00:05:50
don't end up with grease fires and as
00:05:53
you'll see here are it's just reasonably
00:05:55
clean now we also want to get the lid of
00:05:57
the grill here so scouring pad soap
00:06:00
water pail buggers
00:06:05
and of course we'll want to wipe them
00:06:07
the hood these usually remain pretty
00:06:09
clean this black porcelain of Weber has
00:06:12
on the grilles isn't gradually
00:06:14
incredibly resilient so a quick little
00:06:17
clean with a scouring pad but you should
00:06:19
be good to go here and then finally
00:06:22
you'll see we're going to do the doors
00:06:24
you got a lot of grind in particular
00:06:27
just the splash back when it's raining
00:06:30
of the rain hitting you're just a quick
00:06:35
rinse we get all this off now one more
00:06:39
thing to do is to just clean out this
00:06:41
grease tray that's beneath the bottom of
00:06:43
the grill drop in a new it so now we've
00:06:55
had all our greasy parts soaking in the
00:06:57
soapy water so we've got that in a large
00:06:59
bucket and then we've got a clean bucket
00:07:01
of water here just to rinse things out
00:07:03
when at the end but all we're gonna do
00:07:06
now that this has been soaking scrub it
00:07:09
with this guy
00:07:10
and so much of this is just rendered fat
00:07:13
and so the second that it actually sits
00:07:16
in hot water for a while it really
00:07:18
loosens up and it's easy to come right
00:07:20
off see just like that and then of her
00:07:24
some of these mutters and get pieces
00:07:26
we're just gonna use some steel wool and
00:07:28
don't forget to get the backside here
00:07:30
right around where the grease trap hole
00:07:32
is you'll get some buildup on the
00:07:34
underside now I'll just take a clean
00:07:38
scouring pad and get it here rip this
00:07:41
off the mrs. Swasey fresh cold water
00:07:45
alright now this is ready to go back in
00:07:48
the grill then one key thing while
00:07:49
you're washing these is that you want to
00:07:51
wash them in the reverse order that you
00:07:54
took them out of the grill because
00:07:55
that's how the puzzle pieces will fit
00:07:57
together on the way back in
00:07:58
[Music]
00:08:03
I will dip under cold water rinse it off
00:08:07
you got this back in the grub now onto a
00:08:11
flavor ice apart and these were just
00:08:13
giving a quick once-over with some same
00:08:15
thing over
00:08:21
[Music]
00:08:24
now you go over every once in a while
00:08:26
you'll get one that still has a lot of
00:08:28
gunk on it just use a little more elbow
00:08:31
grease and it comes off perfect so this
00:08:37
one's ready to be braced go back in the
00:08:41
grill you'll see we've still got a
00:08:43
little discoloration on the metal don't
00:08:45
worry about that that's natural just
00:08:46
given the amount of heat on the grill so
00:08:49
we're never gonna be able to get this
00:08:50
perfect and back to that original
00:08:51
stainless steel but you're 99% there now
00:08:55
for the last pieces are the grill grates
00:08:58
and you'll see this water's got me
00:09:00
pretty grainy just given all that rust
00:09:03
and grease that we've gotten off of the
00:09:04
other component we're gonna scrape this
00:09:07
down with steel wool here but we've
00:09:09
changed out our clean water because
00:09:10
we're gonna want to make sure we give
00:09:12
these a really good rinse afterwards to
00:09:14
get all this junk off that you don't
00:09:16
want any of the metal particles that
00:09:18
have come off through this process from
00:09:20
the various components just a on the
00:09:24
grill surface because this is what we're
00:09:26
gonna be eating off of all right let's
00:09:29
get this back on the grill now that
00:09:31
we've got everything back in place we're
00:09:33
not done yet
00:09:33
a few more steps here so stick with us
00:09:35
now what you're gonna want to do is turn
00:09:37
all your burners to high and just let
00:09:39
those go for about five minutes to make
00:09:41
sure you actually dry out all the
00:09:43
components that we just watched and that
00:09:45
includes the side burn then just close
00:09:48
down the lid now while we're drying off
00:09:51
the interior the components we're just
00:09:53
gonna use some stainless steel cleaner
00:09:55
and this is really just a polish off
00:09:57
your stainless steel without leaving any
00:09:59
streaks on it so just spray a little bit
00:10:02
on and then you're gonna want to brush
00:10:04
with the grain of the stainless steel
00:10:08
and I gathered along the front here too
00:10:10
this is just gonna give you a really
00:10:13
nice polish and of course at the end of
00:10:17
this that's gonna be really important
00:10:18
that you cover your grill so that you
00:10:20
try and preserve this cleaning as long
00:10:23
as possible
00:10:24
now of course we'll link these products
00:10:27
in the description down below but any
00:10:29
stainless steel grill cleaner or any
00:10:32
stainless steel cleaner frankly is gonna
00:10:34
do just fine so don't feel like you've
00:10:36
got to use the ones we are I think the
00:10:39
one important thing to make sure is if
00:10:41
you are using a cleaner just make sure
00:10:43
it's all-natural because you are using
00:10:45
this on surfaces that your food's gonna
00:10:47
be around so you don't want to
00:10:50
accidentally get any chemicals in your
00:10:52
food just by using the wrong cleaning
00:10:54
agent now it turned off the side burner
00:10:57
and we'll get this last side
00:11:02
now it just turned off the burners and
00:11:04
the last thing that we're gonna do is
00:11:06
just re season this grill so we've got
00:11:09
some barbecue grill oil this is a
00:11:11
hundred percent all natural I think this
00:11:13
is a combination of citrus and coconut
00:11:15
again all these products will be in the
00:11:17
description below but just make sure
00:11:19
you're using an all-natural oil you want
00:11:22
to put a generous amount of this oil on
00:11:25
a paper towel let it soak in there and
00:11:29
now you're just gonna want to rub the
00:11:30
grill grates you're gonna start to see
00:11:32
it smoke this is the grill grates just
00:11:35
re seasoning and this is also gonna help
00:11:38
prevent the food from sticking on your
00:11:40
first cook because a lot nicely seasoned
00:11:44
grill grates yeah you can smell the
00:11:46
coconut there's definitely coconut oil
00:11:48
in this product here you can see the
00:11:51
grill grates what parts have actually
00:11:53
been hit with oil so just make sure
00:11:54
you're getting a nice even coating all
00:11:57
over the grill grates now we're just
00:12:00
gonna turn our burners back on to medium
00:12:02
and then let this go for another two or
00:12:04
three minutes just to let that fully
00:12:06
season it now that we got our daily
00:12:08
driver all cleaned up there's just one
00:12:10
thing left to do that's the deck really
00:12:12
so if you want some ideas go check out
00:12:15
one of the other videos on our channel
00:12:17
here thanks for tuning in
