  • 00:00:00
the video that you're about to watch
  • 00:00:01
breaks down literally everything I know
  • 00:00:03
about making money from coding this is
  • 00:00:05
raw unedited unscripted it's just me
  • 00:00:08
talking directly to the camera and
  • 00:00:09
sharing with you pretty much everything
  • 00:00:11
I've learned over the past 10 years and
  • 00:00:13
how I've been able to earn a full-time
  • 00:00:14
income from my coding skills now you
  • 00:00:16
should know that this video is broken
  • 00:00:18
into four sections which used to be
  • 00:00:20
individual videos in a private community
  • 00:00:22
that I had now I'm no longer running
  • 00:00:24
that community so I simply spliced the
  • 00:00:26
videos together and decided to make them
  • 00:00:28
public so that all of you could enjoy
  • 00:00:30
and learn from them now with that in
  • 00:00:31
mind if you do actually want to put this
  • 00:00:33
video into practice and start making
  • 00:00:35
money from coding you do have to have
  • 00:00:36
some coding skill I know a lot of you
  • 00:00:38
already have that but if you don't and
  • 00:00:40
you're looking for a road map to explain
  • 00:00:42
what you need to learn I have a free
  • 00:00:44
introduction course which you can check
  • 00:00:46
out from the link below now this is a
  • 00:00:47
part of my premium coding course with
  • 00:00:49
course careers but the free introduction
  • 00:00:51
course is free you just need to sign up
  • 00:00:53
and then you'll get access to it and you
  • 00:00:55
can watch about an hour and a half of
  • 00:00:56
completely free content where I give you
  • 00:00:58
as much value as I can and break down
  • 00:01:00
exactly what you need to do in order to
  • 00:01:02
get to a junior software engineer level
  • 00:01:05
which is kind of the level you need to
  • 00:01:06
be at when you can start really
  • 00:01:07
monetizing this skill anyways I hope you
  • 00:01:10
enjoy let's get into the video hello
  • 00:01:12
everybody and welcome to this course
  • 00:01:14
where we're going to break down for you
  • 00:01:16
how to make money from coding now what
  • 00:01:18
I'm going to do is explain to you the
  • 00:01:20
value of coding what my journey looked
  • 00:01:22
like and how I started from making 20
  • 00:01:24
bucks a week to now making sometimes
  • 00:01:25
over $20,000 per week and then I'm going
  • 00:01:28
to discuss all the different methods you
  • 00:01:30
can potentially follow there in so many
  • 00:01:32
different categories and many of which
  • 00:01:34
you've probably never heard of before if
  • 00:01:36
you want to earn a full-time income or
  • 00:01:38
sometimes much more from programming I'm
  • 00:01:40
thinking to talk to you about going from
  • 00:01:42
a developer to an entrepreneur what that
  • 00:01:44
looks like in the mindset shift that
  • 00:01:46
needs to take place if you want to make
  • 00:01:47
some serious income and then I'm going
  • 00:01:49
to talk about thinking longterm and how
  • 00:01:52
you make this more of a career rather
  • 00:01:54
than something you do on the side okay
  • 00:01:56
so let's get into it here with this
  • 00:01:57
first video value of programming well as
  • 00:02:00
we know learning how to code is one of
  • 00:02:02
the most valuable skills you can have
  • 00:02:04
not only does it teach you problem
  • 00:02:05
    solving critical thinking and reasoning
  • 00:02:07
which is something that's going to carry
  • 00:02:08
with you the rest of your life but the
  • 00:02:10
risk to reward ratio is so low and what
  • 00:02:13
I mean by that is it takes you maybe 6
  • 00:02:15
months 12 months to get decent enough at
  • 00:02:17
coding where you actually can provide
  • 00:02:18
some value to the marketplace and then
  • 00:02:20
in that time you're immediately able to
  • 00:02:22
start making a ton of money and the
  • 00:02:24
upside is completely uncapped you could
  • 00:02:26
easily be making hundreds of thousands
  • 00:02:28
of dollars your second year being a
  • 00:02:30
developer I know developers who made
  • 00:02:32
$300 $400,000 in year two or year three
  • 00:02:35
of their career and I know guys that
  • 00:02:37
sold startups after just learning how to
  • 00:02:38
code for 2 three years right so the
  • 00:02:41
upside is just so high it's potentially
  • 00:02:43
uncapped and even if you go all the way
  • 00:02:45
down to the lows side where maybe you
  • 00:02:46
land some Junior uh entry level position
  • 00:02:48
    at a shitty company you're making 50 60k
  • 00:02:51
a year which is still a lot better than
  • 00:02:53
you having to go to school spend
  • 00:02:54
hundreds of thousands of dollars waste
  • 00:02:56
four years of your life just to get into
  • 00:02:58
a crappy career where there's no no
  • 00:03:00
growth there's no upside and you don't
  • 00:03:01
have other potential now beyond that
  • 00:03:03
just the number of ways to make money is
  • 00:03:04
unlimited you don't have to get a job
  • 00:03:06
and in fact a lot of the options I'm
  • 00:03:07
going to share with you here don't
  • 00:03:08
involve working a 9-to-5 job you can
  • 00:03:11
work anywhere in the world you want you
  • 00:03:12
can be in any economy you want which I
  • 00:03:14
think is really important and you don't
  • 00:03:16
have to be a US citizen Canadian citizen
  • 00:03:19
or from let's call it a more a tier
  • 00:03:21
country or first world country you can
  • 00:03:22
be from a developing nation and still
  • 00:03:24
make a ton of money I pay guys that live
  • 00:03:27
in Tunisia like I think it was 7,000 per
  • 00:03:30
month I don't know what his exact salary
  • 00:03:31
is but it's something along that range
  • 00:03:33
why do I pay him that because he knows
  • 00:03:35
how to code I don't care that he lives
  • 00:03:36
in Tunisia if I don't pay him that
  • 00:03:38
someone else is going to pay him that
  • 00:03:39
they're going to steal him from me right
  • 00:03:41
so it's about the value you can provide
  • 00:03:43
it's not where you live and I think
  • 00:03:45
that's really a great thing this kind of
  • 00:03:46
    eliminates all those different barriers
  • 00:03:48
that you might have in different
  • 00:03:49
Industries because you can work anywhere
  • 00:03:51
you want whenever you want at any time
  • 00:03:53
zone for as long as you want you could
  • 00:03:55
do 70 hour weeks you could do 20 hour
  • 00:03:57
weeks there just so many different ways
  • 00:03:59
to make money and I figured this out
  • 00:04:01
quite early in my journey I started
  • 00:04:03
learning how to code at 12 by the time I
  • 00:04:05
was 14 I was making money not very much
  • 00:04:07
money but I was tutoring people making
  • 00:04:09
    10 20 30 bucks a week by the time I was
  • 00:04:11
16 I was getting paid double what my
  • 00:04:13
colleagues were because I knew how to
  • 00:04:15
code and I was teaching that at of
  • 00:04:16
summer camp by the time I was 17 I made
  • 00:04:19
    about30 $40,000 in a single year which
  • 00:04:22
is crazy if you think about being in
  • 00:04:23
grade 12 going into first year
  • 00:04:24
university when I was 18 I made over
  • 00:04:26
    $100,000 when I was 19 I made over2
  • 00:04:30
$50,000 which out earned my parents at
  • 00:04:32
that point in time by the time I was 20
  • 00:04:34
I was making high multiple six figures
  • 00:04:37
and beyond that I've made millions of
  • 00:04:39
dollars in a single year and in a career
  • 00:04:41
simply because I know how to code now
  • 00:04:43
obviously you compounded you add skills
  • 00:04:45
on top of that but it all came from that
  • 00:04:48
Foundation having a high value skill
  • 00:04:50
that allowed you to contribute something
  • 00:04:52
to the marketplace is what you need to
  • 00:04:54
start with and then you start to realize
  • 00:04:56
quite quickly damn I can build this up
  • 00:04:58
build this up build this up to the point
  • 00:04:59
where making just so much money it's
  • 00:05:01
actually unbelievable now I don't say
  • 00:05:03
that to brag genuinely a lot of you guys
  • 00:05:05
know I'm a fairly humble person but I
  • 00:05:07
want to get you pumped up I want to get
  • 00:05:08
you motivated I want to get you inspired
  • 00:05:10
and this is more of a closed community
  • 00:05:11
so I want to actually share with you
  • 00:05:13
kind of those hidden gems and secrets
  • 00:05:15
that allow you to really make some
  • 00:05:17
serious money to the point where you are
  • 00:05:19
actually financially free you have that
  • 00:05:21
location Independence and you can work
  • 00:05:23
whenever you want which I think for many
  • 00:05:25
of you is the ultimate goal so with that
  • 00:05:27
said hopefully I got you excited let's
  • 00:05:29
get into the next video here and let's
  • 00:05:30
talk about how you actually make money
  • 00:05:33
from coding all right video two let's
  • 00:05:35
get right into it I've got 14 different
  • 00:05:37
methods to share with you in terms of
  • 00:05:39
how you can make money from coding I'm
  • 00:05:40
going to give you a quick explanation of
  • 00:05:42
each but I'm going to try not to drag it
  • 00:05:44
on and at some point in time we will
  • 00:05:46
make a much more in-depth course that
  • 00:05:48
breaks down all of these and kind of
  • 00:05:49
    goes through different strategies
  • 00:05:51
methods getting clients Etc but for now
  • 00:05:53
I just want to give you all the
  • 00:05:54
different methods so you can start
  • 00:05:56
    experimenting with something today now
  • 00:05:58
I've got a uh sheet in front of me so if
  • 00:06:00
you see me reading my monitor I'm just
  • 00:06:01
going through the list no particular
  • 00:06:03
order here let's start with number one
  • 00:06:06
    freelancing now freelancing pretty much
  • 00:06:08
just means you're kind of on your own
  • 00:06:10
and you just do random side jobs you do
  • 00:06:12
gig work maybe you're doing some hourly
  • 00:06:13
work for a company maybe you're
  • 00:06:15
finishing some project here but you can
  • 00:06:17
work for whoever you want whenever you
  • 00:06:19
want for the number of hours you want
  • 00:06:20
    obviously assuming that you're getting
  • 00:06:22
paid by that company for those number of
  • 00:06:23
hours you're not an employee you don't
  • 00:06:25
have benefits you're not tied down to a
  • 00:06:26
set schedule and usually it's just
  • 00:06:28
you're going to do a certain number of
  • 00:06:29
hours or you're going to finish a
  • 00:06:31
    specific project I've done freelancing
  • 00:06:33
anywhere from $20 per hour back when I
  • 00:06:36
was super young and just doing like
  • 00:06:37
really some very side gig type work that
  • 00:06:40
was super simple that they probably
  • 00:06:42
could have done themselves all the way
  • 00:06:43
    up to
  • 00:06:44
$400 per hour I know sounds insane but
  • 00:06:47
if you're really good you can get paid
  • 00:06:49
to work at those kind of rates typically
  • 00:06:52
now when I do freelancing the rate is
  • 00:06:53
more like $150 to $200 per hour and
  • 00:06:57
    that's a fairly typical rate for a
  • 00:06:59
moreor ior developer who has kind of a
  • 00:07:01
broad scope of work that they could
  • 00:07:02
potentially be be working on now as a
  • 00:07:05
junior developer you can easily be
  • 00:07:07
getting paid 5060 $70 per hour for
  • 00:07:10
    freelancing depends what company you're
  • 00:07:12
working for and what you're doing but
  • 00:07:13
you can make quite a bit of money and
  • 00:07:15
where the real money is that is when you
  • 00:07:16
    do project-based freelancing so for
  • 00:07:19
example you build a website for someone
  • 00:07:21
and you just charge them a flat fee and
  • 00:07:23
you do that based on the value you're
  • 00:07:24
going to be providing them not how long
  • 00:07:26
it's going to take you right so you can
  • 00:07:27
make a website for five grand that takes
  • 00:07:29
you5 hours you just now got paid $11,000
  • 00:07:31
per hour the person doesn't care how
  • 00:07:33
long it took you they just wanted their
  • 00:07:34
website done right so freelancing all
  • 00:07:36
kinds of stuff you can do there next
  • 00:07:38
tutoring this is my personal favorite
  • 00:07:41
one like if you're just getting started
  • 00:07:42
out not only is this really good for you
  • 00:07:45
but it's the easiest way to start making
  • 00:07:46
    money immediately because people always
  • 00:07:49
need one-on-one help and you can find
  • 00:07:51
clients quite easily because for example
  • 00:07:53
let's say you're in University you can
  • 00:07:54
literally go to the wall and you can
  • 00:07:56
post a sheet of paper that has those
  • 00:07:58
little tabs where they can take phone
  • 00:07:59
number they could take your email you
  • 00:08:01
can say hey I'm doing one-on-one
  • 00:08:02
tutoring for computer science or for
  • 00:08:04
whatever the course is that you want to
  • 00:08:06
tutor doesn't even have to be
  • 00:08:07
programming in this case so many people
  • 00:08:09
need tutoring and I've done tutoring
  • 00:08:11
sessions anywhere from probably 5 or $10
  • 00:08:14
an hour up to $200 per hour when you're
  • 00:08:17
dealing with a really rich client who
  • 00:08:18
really wants stuff to get done so please
  • 00:08:21
don't rule this one out like if you're
  • 00:08:22
just getting started and you have a
  • 00:08:24
little bit of knowledge and like you're
  • 00:08:25
better than some other people around you
  • 00:08:27
you can absolutely teach them even the
  • 00:08:29
little bit that you know if that helps
  • 00:08:31
someone pass a course if that helps
  • 00:08:32
someone finish an assignment or get you
  • 00:08:34
know a C+ when they would have failed
  • 00:08:36
like that is still super valuable to
  • 00:08:38
them and you can even get into group
  • 00:08:40
tutoring where you do a session with say
  • 00:08:42
10 people they each pay you 20 bucks
  • 00:08:44
there you go that's $200 so really a
  • 00:08:46
business model to look into and my
  • 00:08:47
personal favorite one that I've made
  • 00:08:49
probably in lifetime maybe 20 $330,000
  • 00:08:52
from doing and it's been very much on
  • 00:08:54
the side not something I took super
  • 00:08:55
    seriously next tutorials now obviously
  • 00:08:59
if you have have a big social media
  • 00:09:00
presence like mine you can just post
  • 00:09:01
tutorials and you get paid by AdSense
  • 00:09:03
and whatnot but a lot of companies
  • 00:09:05
actually need people to make tutorials
  • 00:09:07
    for specific Frameworks libraries
  • 00:09:09
languages whatever it may be there's
  • 00:09:12
quite a few jobs uh that a lot of people
  • 00:09:14
don't know about that are actually
  • 00:09:15
    specifically like technical writing or
  • 00:09:17
it's making video tutorials for a
  • 00:09:19
platform I have friends that have pretty
  • 00:09:21
much no social media presence but are
  • 00:09:22
pretty decent teachers and they get paid
  • 00:09:24
something like $2,000 per tutorial video
  • 00:09:27
they make for other YouTubers channels
  • 00:09:30
so they're they don't have a big YouTube
  • 00:09:31
channels they just were able to kind of
  • 00:09:33
connect with this company and they now
  • 00:09:36
make videos that post on this company's
  • 00:09:38
YouTube channel and they get paid a flat
  • 00:09:40
Us doll rate per tutorial that they're
  • 00:09:43
making now you can also do tutorials and
  • 00:09:45
other mediums right tax based tutorials
  • 00:09:47
blog articles all kinds of different
  • 00:09:49
Avenues here and I believe even if you
  • 00:09:51
go the medium route you're doing like
  • 00:09:53
medium based tutorials you can get paid
  • 00:09:55
for those or at least you can get some
  • 00:09:56
exposure next personal brand now this
  • 00:09:59
one is obviously going to be a lot more
  • 00:10:01
dedicated some you're probably going to
  • 00:10:02
have to take more fulltime or eventually
  • 00:10:04
you'll want to be taking it more
  • 00:10:06
seriously but even if you're a complete
  • 00:10:08
beginner like starting a series like you
  • 00:10:10
know learning to code in a 100 days
  • 00:10:12
right and every single day you post a
  • 00:10:13
Tik Tok video or you do an Instagram
  • 00:10:15
post and kind of share what you're
  • 00:10:16
learning you can very quickly build up a
  • 00:10:18
following and some of the best channels
  • 00:10:21
when it comes to personal brands are
  • 00:10:22
people that are relatable right so in my
  • 00:10:24
case it's hard for me to be like oh yeah
  • 00:10:26
you know I'm just learning how to code
  • 00:10:27
and I've been doing it for 10 years you
  • 00:10:29
guys can't can't relate to me like I am
  • 00:10:30
an expert level programmer at this point
  • 00:10:32
as much as I can teach you stuff it's
  • 00:10:34
not that relatable type content right so
  • 00:10:36
    if you're someone who's more of a
  • 00:10:38
beginner intermediate you can make a
  • 00:10:40
personal brand related to coding related
  • 00:10:42
to your journey it doesn't have to be
  • 00:10:44
tutorials and Technical content like I
  • 00:10:46
would do it can be more lifestyle and
  • 00:10:48
you know what it looks like learning
  • 00:10:50
coding in 2024 whatever year you're
  • 00:10:52
    watching this completely from scratch
  • 00:10:54
something to consider a lot of
  • 00:10:55
opportunities here and having a personal
  • 00:10:57
brand will bring you so many uh
  • 00:11:00
    opportunities that you've just never
  • 00:11:01
thought of before you'll get job offers
  • 00:11:03
you get people wanting to do brand deals
  • 00:11:05
    you get collaborations you'll meet
  • 00:11:06
incredible people and obviously in my
  • 00:11:08
situation I never like was really trying
  • 00:11:10
to build a personal brand but it kind of
  • 00:11:12
just happened and then once I started
  • 00:11:13
seeing all those great benefits I took
  • 00:11:15
it a lot more seriously and and built
  • 00:11:17
mine up right next we have SAS this is
  • 00:11:19
software as a service and this is great
  • 00:11:22
because you can just go out there and
  • 00:11:23
you can build some software that people
  • 00:11:25
want to pay for and there's so much
  • 00:11:27
shitty software out there that people
  • 00:11:28
pay for just because it's the only thing
  • 00:11:30
they know or it's what they rely on for
  • 00:11:32
their day-to-day and you can see so many
  • 00:11:34
    different companies that have software
  • 00:11:36
as a service whether it's good or
  • 00:11:37
whether it's bad they make so much money
  • 00:11:39
and with SAS businesses as well if you
  • 00:11:41
have a lot of recurring Revenue so
  • 00:11:43
monthly or annual revenue you'll end up
  • 00:11:45
getting a pretty large multiplier if you
  • 00:11:47
do decide to ever exit that business I
  • 00:11:49
have a close friend of mine who ran a
  • 00:11:51
SAS business wasn't that great of a
  • 00:11:53
developer like he was really more at
  • 00:11:54
that intermediate stage was nowhere near
  • 00:11:56
where I would be or some of the other
  • 00:11:58
people in this community he built a SAS
  • 00:12:00
business I don't remember exactly what
  • 00:12:02
the service was but it was something
  • 00:12:04
relatively simple I think he ended up
  • 00:12:06
getting about 10,000 users and then he
  • 00:12:08
sold the company now he didn't make you
  • 00:12:10
know millions of dollars doing that but
  • 00:12:12
he made a few hundred, that was great
  • 00:12:15
and now he's got a cush he can go do
  • 00:12:16
whatever the hell he wants so something
  • 00:12:18
to consider if you are interested in
  • 00:12:19
building software think about okay who
  • 00:12:22
can I actually service here what's going
  • 00:12:23
to be valuable how can I get paid for it
  • 00:12:26
and you can make a fair amount of money
  • 00:12:27
and even if it fails it's great
  • 00:12:28
experience and it's something that you
  • 00:12:30
can throw on your resume and that looks
  • 00:12:31
good next mobile apps so many shitty
  • 00:12:35
mobile apps out there that people pay a
  • 00:12:37
lot of money for uh especially things
  • 00:12:39
you know like you got fitness trackers
  • 00:12:40
weight trackers uh Habit trackers like
  • 00:12:43
anyone can make one of those types of
  • 00:12:45
apps and if you're able to Market it
  • 00:12:46
well get a few users you have some inapp
  • 00:12:49
currency or something along those lines
  • 00:12:51
you can make Fair a fair amount of money
  • 00:12:52
    from mobile applications so again
  • 00:12:55
another method and also obviously if you
  • 00:12:56
like building mobile apps something fun
  • 00:12:58
to do try to get a monetization angle on
  • 00:13:01
that next we have WordPress or Shopify
  • 00:13:04
themes now not directly related to
  • 00:13:06
coding but something that can be really
  • 00:13:09
really lucrative especially if you get
  • 00:13:11
one of those top themes so go on Shopify
  • 00:13:13
right and see how many different themes
  • 00:13:14
there are obviously you can pay for them
  • 00:13:16
you can also buy WordPress themes you
  • 00:13:17
can buy just pre-made HTML and CSS
  • 00:13:20
templates and if you get quite a few
  • 00:13:22
downloads you can get some high volume
  • 00:13:23
you can make a lot of money definitely
  • 00:13:25
check that out if you've never seen it
  • 00:13:26
because it's not that much work you know
  • 00:13:28
maybe maybe it takes you a few days you
  • 00:13:30
build this theme out and I mean even if
  • 00:13:32
it sits there and it gets a few sales a
  • 00:13:33
month like that's some great side income
  • 00:13:35
that I don't think anyone will be
  • 00:13:36
complaining about next we have technical
  • 00:13:38
writing now writing documentation is a
  • 00:13:41
huge pain no one wants to do it I don't
  • 00:13:42
want to do it a lot of you probably
  • 00:13:43
don't want to do it but if you're into
  • 00:13:45
writing and if you're actually good at
  • 00:13:46
English this can be a really valuable uh
  • 00:13:49
thing to do because you don't need to be
  • 00:13:50
an expert level programmer what people
  • 00:13:52
are really looking for is okay they're
  • 00:13:54
decn at programming like they've got the
  • 00:13:56
basics down they're good enough that
  • 00:13:58
they understand what's going on and
  • 00:14:00
they're a good writer those two skill
  • 00:14:02
sets combined uh really make you quite
  • 00:14:04
valuable and you can get full-time jobs
  • 00:14:05
doing this or you can do it more as a
  • 00:14:07
freelance or a side gig next we have
  • 00:14:09
helping small businesses now this kind
  • 00:14:11
of cane with any of the other things
  • 00:14:13
that I mentioned before but some of my
  • 00:14:15
favorite projects are where you just go
  • 00:14:17
to a small business that doesn't have a
  • 00:14:18
website or they don't have any marketing
  • 00:14:20
or they don't have some tool that would
  • 00:14:22
save them like tens of hours per week
  • 00:14:24
and you build it for them and the great
  • 00:14:26
thing is that it doesn't need to be
  • 00:14:27
perfect it doesn't need to be amazing
  • 00:14:28
you're not building a new website for
  • 00:14:30
Facebook you're building it for like the
  • 00:14:31
local bakery down the down the street
  • 00:14:33
and it's a lot more relatable however it
  • 00:14:35
does involve some sales which could be a
  • 00:14:38
bit difficult for some of us right now
  • 00:14:40
just to give you a specific example for
  • 00:14:41
this one actually when I did work at the
  • 00:14:43
summer camp not necessarily a small
  • 00:14:44
business but it kind of fits in this
  • 00:14:46
category I noticed that the admins that
  • 00:14:49
were in uh like the head office they
  • 00:14:51
would do scheduling for all of the
  • 00:14:52
different groups of kids manually every
  • 00:14:55
single week so they would like pick them
  • 00:14:56
out they would choose all the activities
  • 00:14:58
they're going to be doing they would
  • 00:14:59
like have to cross reference they had
  • 00:15:01
like 20 sheets of paper out and they
  • 00:15:02
    were literally going with like
  • 00:15:03
highlighters and x's and it took them
  • 00:15:05
like a whole day to like do the
  • 00:15:07
scheduling it was insane what they were
  • 00:15:08
doing so I came in and I I saw them
  • 00:15:10
doing this one day and I was like what
  • 00:15:12
the heck what are you doing and they're
  • 00:15:14
like oh we're doing all this uh this
  • 00:15:15
scheduling I was like can you okay just
  • 00:15:17
walk me through like how this works they
  • 00:15:18
kind of told me their process I was like
  • 00:15:20
okay give me like a few hours so I went
  • 00:15:22
downstairs CED out some software that
  • 00:15:24
just did exactly what they were doing
  • 00:15:26
brought it to them and said hey like
  • 00:15:27
how's this is this better and they like
  • 00:15:29
it completely changed their life because
  • 00:15:31
now they had another day every single
  • 00:15:33
week where they didn't have to do this
  • 00:15:34
there was a little bit of manual
  • 00:15:35
checking that was involved with the
  • 00:15:37
software that I had but it saved them
  • 00:15:39
multiple hours per week and you have to
  • 00:15:41
ask yourself like how much money would
  • 00:15:43
you be willing to pay for something like
  • 00:15:44
that that could save employees you know
  • 00:15:46
two employees in this case eight hours a
  • 00:15:49
week or something along those lines
  • 00:15:50
right so if you can build this kind of
  • 00:15:51
automation software small tools you can
  • 00:15:54
just help increase efficiency even a
  • 00:15:56
slight bit you can get paid a fair
  • 00:15:58
amount to do that and you're actually
  • 00:15:59
providing real value okay so now into
  • 00:16:01
some more unique ones ones I don't think
  • 00:16:03
you guys may have actually considered
  • 00:16:05
before and what I've got here is bug
  • 00:16:07
bounties now quite a few companies
  • 00:16:09
release bug bounties now what this means
  • 00:16:11
is if you find a bug or an exploit in
  • 00:16:13
the software and you report it to them
  • 00:16:15
they'll pay you so they'll give you a
  • 00:16:17
flat fee amount uh based on the type of
  • 00:16:19
bug the severity of the bug Etc now
  • 00:16:21
famously Google had some bug bounties
  • 00:16:23
that were like a million dollar and
  • 00:16:25
nowadays a lot of new companies will do
  • 00:16:27
this one because they want want to get
  • 00:16:29
some more exposure they want people
  • 00:16:30
using their stuff but obviously they
  • 00:16:32
want to make sure that if they're
  • 00:16:33
growing really quickly you know they
  • 00:16:34
don't crash and burn because they had a
  • 00:16:36
few exploits or bugs that completely
  • 00:16:38
burn the business down I remember I was
  • 00:16:40
at uh eth Denver you guys some of you
  • 00:16:42
may know this this conference and I was
  • 00:16:44
sitting beside some guy in like the
  • 00:16:45
cafeteria and I was asking him what he
  • 00:16:47
does and he said oh I do bug bounties I
  • 00:16:49
was like what do you mean you do bug
  • 00:16:50
bounties like yeah literally all I do
  • 00:16:51
every single day is I just go and I like
  • 00:16:53
    hack different websites and companies
  • 00:16:55
and I get paid to do that I'm like like
  • 00:16:57
you make a living doing that and he like
  • 00:16:59
smiled and like looked at his friend and
  • 00:17:01
uh he was like yeah like the last one I
  • 00:17:03
did was $250,000 for a bug Bounty and he
  • 00:17:05
didn't make it sound like it was super
  • 00:17:07
overly complicated I'm sure you know
  • 00:17:09
it's probably beyond what many of us
  • 00:17:10
have been able to do but something to
  • 00:17:12
consider like if you're into that you do
  • 00:17:13
ethical hacking bug bounties can be
  • 00:17:15
pretty cool and you can make a ton of
  • 00:17:17
money and there's a lot of these newer
  • 00:17:19
    companies that have some pretty
  • 00:17:20
lucrative bug bounties that might not be
  • 00:17:21
you know to the level of one like Google
  • 00:17:24
Now next we've got hackathons now if you
  • 00:17:26
guys are good if you have a team if you
  • 00:17:27
want to build something out if you like
  • 00:17:29
this experience you can actually make a
  • 00:17:30
lot of money by competing in hackathons
  • 00:17:32
or in different coding competitions and
  • 00:17:35
winning now is this going to be
  • 00:17:36
something you do as a full-time job
  • 00:17:37
probably not but it's worth considering
  • 00:17:39
like if there's local hackathon or this
  • 00:17:41
one you want to go to first of all a lot
  • 00:17:43
of times you can actually get paid to go
  • 00:17:45
it's like they'll cover your flights
  • 00:17:46
    they'll cover all your expenses it's a
  • 00:17:48
great time you learn a lot you meet some
  • 00:17:50
good people so already the experience is
  • 00:17:52
great I've done a few in my life I
  • 00:17:54
didn't win any of them but I did quite
  • 00:17:55
enjoy them and uh if you win like cash
  • 00:17:58
prizes could be $20,000 for the winning
  • 00:18:00
team or you could get some partnership
  • 00:18:02
with this company or you get a new
  • 00:18:03
computer like there's a bunch of cool
  • 00:18:05
stuff you can get from hackathons uh
  • 00:18:07
especially from some of the bigger ones
  • 00:18:08
so something worth considering next we
  • 00:18:11
have grants uh there's quite a few
  • 00:18:12
companies that actually give out grants
  • 00:18:14
to people that work with their
  • 00:18:15
technology or that build something on it
  • 00:18:17
now this is especially big in the web 3
  • 00:18:19
space right now there's a lot of
  • 00:18:20
blockchain companies that have a ton of
  • 00:18:22
funding uh from Venture Capital firms
  • 00:18:25
and they need to spend it and they also
  • 00:18:27
need people to use their software so
  • 00:18:29
they'll literally pay people $50,000 to
  • 00:18:32
build one of the top projects on this
  • 00:18:34
chain or in the case of some companies
  • 00:18:35
I've worked with even if you're not a
  • 00:18:36
crazy experienced developer if you go
  • 00:18:39
and you build something on the Chain
  • 00:18:42
then they'll just pay you money to do
  • 00:18:43
that so you can go to them you can say
  • 00:18:45
here here's my idea you're not competing
  • 00:18:47
with anyone and they'll say okay we'll
  • 00:18:48
    give you $5,000 we'll give you $110,000
  • 00:18:51
to fund your ideas that you have some
  • 00:18:53
time to work on this you got some
  • 00:18:54
experience they'll want to maybe do like
  • 00:18:56
a survey with you or something or they
  • 00:18:57
want to like demo your project when it's
  • 00:18:59
done but the idea is there's so much
  • 00:19:01
    opportunity out there and there's
  • 00:19:03
    companies that literally have Grant
  • 00:19:04
funds that are in like the tens of
  • 00:19:06
millions of dollars that they're giving
  • 00:19:07
out to hundreds of different projects
  • 00:19:09
    because they're trying to encourage
  • 00:19:11
people to use their technology now
  • 00:19:13
lastly I've got a great one here which
  • 00:19:14
is ugc user generated content the tech
  • 00:19:18
field recently has really been expanding
  • 00:19:20
more into this influencer marketing and
  • 00:19:22
    specifically into the more micro
  • 00:19:23
influencers so people that don't really
  • 00:19:25
have any following or maybe have like
  • 00:19:27
    5,000 10,000 followers like a very small
  • 00:19:30
amount and user generated content is
  • 00:19:32
kind of I guess a field of this where
  • 00:19:34
essentially what you can do is as
  • 00:19:35
someone with no following at all you can
  • 00:19:38
make content that shows you using
  • 00:19:40
    specific technology programming
  • 00:19:43
languages Frameworks whatever it may be
  • 00:19:45
and companies will pay you for that
  • 00:19:46
because they'll then repurpose it as an
  • 00:19:48
ad or they'll use it for kind of organic
  • 00:19:50
media and post it on their social medias
  • 00:19:53
I actually have quite a few friends that
  • 00:19:54
do this user generate content usually
  • 00:19:57
what it will involve is you need to set
  • 00:19:59
up like a bit of a profile for yourself
  • 00:20:00
you want to you know refine your
  • 00:20:02
Instagram or refine your Tik Tok or
  • 00:20:04
whatever and you start working with
  • 00:20:05
companies for free where they'll just
  • 00:20:07
send you some product for free that
  • 00:20:09
you'll kind of make like a little video
  • 00:20:10
about demoing you use it or just showing
  • 00:20:12
it kind of in organic life now once you
  • 00:20:14
build a little bit of experience doing
  • 00:20:16
this and you make some good videos and
  • 00:20:17
the companies like them then you start
  • 00:20:19
negotiating for rates right so it could
  • 00:20:21
be okay we're going to get $200 per
  • 00:20:22
video we're going to get $500 per video
  • 00:20:25
and eventually if you have any kind of
  • 00:20:26
social media following you'll start to
  • 00:20:27
kind of do a hybrid type deal where you
  • 00:20:29
make the video for the company you give
  • 00:20:30
them the ability to use it and then you
  • 00:20:32
also post it on your social media and
  • 00:20:34
they'll pay you for that reach and
  • 00:20:36
exposure I don't want to get into this
  • 00:20:37
too much because I'm not an expert and
  • 00:20:38
we are probably going to make a full
  • 00:20:40
course breaking down all of these really
  • 00:20:42
really in depth but I wanted to share
  • 00:20:44
that idea with you because I think for
  • 00:20:45
quite a few people that's quite
  • 00:20:47
interesting and in the tech space it's
  • 00:20:49
not as saturated as like General product
  • 00:20:51
reviews right so you actually can get in
  • 00:20:53
    there and probably immediately start
  • 00:20:55
getting some deals there's a lot of
  • 00:20:56
marketplaces opening up now for or user
  • 00:20:59
generated content that kind of are
  • 00:21:00
connecting the brands with the creators
  • 00:21:03
which is quite interesting so there you
  • 00:21:04
go guys that is my list of 14 different
  • 00:21:07
ways to make money from coding now I
  • 00:21:09
challenge you before clicking off this
  • 00:21:11
video pick one of these and actually
  • 00:21:13
give them a solid shot now I'm not going
  • 00:21:15
to say it's easy I'm not going to
  • 00:21:16
guarantee you you're going to make money
  • 00:21:18
in your first day or your first hour
  • 00:21:20
working on this these things are hard
  • 00:21:22
and one of the reasons why they make a
  • 00:21:23
lot of money is because many people
  • 00:21:25
aren't actually going to do them if it
  • 00:21:27
was easy everybody would do it and then
  • 00:21:29
we would have no leverage here using
  • 00:21:31
coding as a skill but I challenge you
  • 00:21:33
pick one of them no excuses I guarantee
  • 00:21:36
no matter who you are no matter where
  • 00:21:38
you're from no matter your experience
  • 00:21:39
you can do at least one and again I
  • 00:21:42
really challenge you to work on them
  • 00:21:43
share your experience with us in the
  • 00:21:45
community if you've done any of these in
  • 00:21:47
the past and you have some more insight
  • 00:21:49
you want to share we would love to see
  • 00:21:50
your post with that said let's get into
  • 00:21:52
the next video where we're going to talk
  • 00:21:53
about a bit of a mindset shift you need
  • 00:21:55
to have if you want to make these
  • 00:21:56
successful all right so let's get into
  • 00:21:58
video three which is going to tie nicely
  • 00:22:00
in with video two now in that video I
  • 00:22:02
mentioned all the different ways to make
  • 00:22:03
money coding and notice that I didn't
  • 00:22:06
mention a job as one of them now
  • 00:22:08
obviously this is a way to make money
  • 00:22:10
coding I just thought it was pretty
  • 00:22:11
obvious and that's kind of a cheat for
  • 00:22:12
me to put in there because obvious you
  • 00:22:14
guys know that you can go get a software
  • 00:22:15
developer job and you can make money
  • 00:22:16
doing that what I wanted to do is start
  • 00:22:18
getting you thinking about ways that you
  • 00:22:20
can make money without having a job and
  • 00:22:22
how you can actually transform your life
  • 00:22:24
to be something a bit more unique and
  • 00:22:26
different than just being a n to five
  • 00:22:28
employee but in this video I do want to
  • 00:22:31
encourage you to ask yourself what is it
  • 00:22:33
that you want out of this skill so
  • 00:22:35
learning how to code and what is it that
  • 00:22:37
you want out of life and the reason I'm
  • 00:22:39
asking you that is because there's two
  • 00:22:41
very very different paths you can go
  • 00:22:42
down here but you don't really want to
  • 00:22:44
be jumping between them a ton because it
  • 00:22:46
will really limit the amount of progress
  • 00:22:48
you can make in either of these
  • 00:22:49
directions now Direction one is to get a
  • 00:22:52
software developer job you usually will
  • 00:22:54
not start out at a huge tech company
  • 00:22:56
most people don't you'll start somewhere
  • 00:22:58
probably a shitty company and you will
  • 00:23:00
work your way up that company and then
  • 00:23:01
    switch different roles and switch
  • 00:23:02
different jobs now if you get a career
  • 00:23:05
in software development if you're a good
  • 00:23:06
developer this is a actually a pretty
  • 00:23:08
    stable career especially once you've
  • 00:23:09
built a bit of experience you make a
  • 00:23:12
very good amount of money and if you are
  • 00:23:13
fortunate enough to get into a large
  • 00:23:15
tech company or even into a startup that
  • 00:23:17
ends up doing really well you can become
  • 00:23:19
a millionaire quite quickly and you can
  • 00:23:21
make a lot of money that is a much more
  • 00:23:23
guaranteed income Source than if you
  • 00:23:25
were to be an entrepreneur for example
  • 00:23:27
if you work at Google by the time you've
  • 00:23:29
been working at Google for four or five
  • 00:23:30
years you will very reasonably be at
  • 00:23:33
close to $300,000 per year in total
  • 00:23:35
compensation if you are able to climb
  • 00:23:37
that rank even higher many people just
  • 00:23:39
stay there but you could climb higher it
  • 00:23:40
is not unreasonable to be making 500 600
  • 00:23:43
$700,000 per year I know people in their
  • 00:23:46
    mid-30s that make $800 to $900,000 per
  • 00:23:48
year working at a big tech company some
  • 00:23:50
of them are not even named companies now
  • 00:23:53
they aren't named companies but a lot of
  • 00:23:54
them are privately traded or they're
  • 00:23:56
just not ones that you may have even
  • 00:23:58
heard of before they just do something
  • 00:23:59
very very specific and they're very good
  • 00:24:01
at their job so with that said like if
  • 00:24:03
your goal is just make as much money as
  • 00:24:05
possible you may want to consider going
  • 00:24:07
down that route and if you really grind
  • 00:24:09
to get into those type of companies and
  • 00:24:10
you really focus on your career playing
  • 00:24:12
the politics learning how the corporate
  • 00:24:14
culture works you're going to be
  • 00:24:16
successful in that realm and it's going
  • 00:24:17
to be more guaranteed you know by the
  • 00:24:19
    time you're in your mid-30s you're going
  • 00:24:21
to be a millionaire no matter what if
  • 00:24:22
you stay on that path now we have the
  • 00:24:25
other side right which is kind of doing
  • 00:24:27
your own thing being an entrepreneur now
  • 00:24:30
the advantage here is that you get all
  • 00:24:31
those levels of freedoms that you don't
  • 00:24:33
have when you work for a company you
  • 00:24:35
have time Freedom you have location
  • 00:24:36
freedom and the Financial Freedom is the
  • 00:24:38
one that you need to build yourself
  • 00:24:40
whereas on the other side you don't have
  • 00:24:41
time freedom and you don't have location
  • 00:24:43
    Freedom typically but Financial Freedom
  • 00:24:45
is more guaranteed so you kind of have
  • 00:24:46
to pick you know what side do I want to
  • 00:24:49
be on and what do I want to do so
  • 00:24:51
actually ask yourself that question sit
  • 00:24:53
down have like a deep introspection
  • 00:24:55
section uh session sorry and think about
  • 00:24:58
carefully because this is not for
  • 00:24:59
everyone now if you are someone who
  • 00:25:01
wants to be more of an entrepreneur you
  • 00:25:02
need to realize that you know this is a
  • 00:25:03
journey just like it is going down the
  • 00:25:05
career path the thing is that your
  • 00:25:08
reward can be way higher right the
  • 00:25:10
upside is completely uncapped you can
  • 00:25:12
make unlimited amount of money there's
  • 00:25:14
there's no cap on your potential it's
  • 00:25:15
really just up to you what you end up
  • 00:25:17
doing and typically if you really really
  • 00:25:19
go hard at it and you know what you're
  • 00:25:21
doing you're going to grow it and it's
  • 00:25:22
not really going to be stagnant right
  • 00:25:23
it's going to continue going up and up
  • 00:25:25
now with that said to do that you have
  • 00:25:26
to put in probably more work than you
  • 00:25:28
would trying to climb the career in like
  • 00:25:30
a corporate 9 to-5 ladder and you will
  • 00:25:33
be sacrificing quite a bit at the
  • 00:25:34
beginning to get to that point so I
  • 00:25:37
think that's enough I think you guys
  • 00:25:38
    probably understand the advantages of
  • 00:25:39
    Entrepreneurship disadvantages Etc now
  • 00:25:42
let's talk about how you make that shift
  • 00:25:44
especially in development well you need
  • 00:25:46
to immediately start thinking more like
  • 00:25:48
a CEO boss business person than you do
  • 00:25:51
like an employee or like a developer and
  • 00:25:53
this is very difficult because our
  • 00:25:54
brains typically if we're in this space
  • 00:25:56
are wired to be thinking critic thinking
  • 00:25:58
    logically problem solving reasoning as
  • 00:26:01
much as those are important in business
  • 00:26:03
that's not necessarily what's going to
  • 00:26:05
make you a lot of money right you can be
  • 00:26:07
a good developer and still be broke or
  • 00:26:08
still not be very good at a lot of the
  • 00:26:11
skills that I listed in that previous
  • 00:26:13
section so you need to immediately kind
  • 00:26:15
of turn off the oh I'm an employee hat
  • 00:26:17
and oh I work for $50 an hour or I do
  • 00:26:19
this or oh my time is worth x amount of
  • 00:26:21
money to how do I scale a business how
  • 00:26:24
do I leverage my time as well as
  • 00:26:26
possible and this is the big word
  • 00:26:28
leverage right how do I use my time as
  • 00:26:30
effectively as possible for some of you
  • 00:26:31
that is simply working for $50 an hour
  • 00:26:34
but for others it's doing different
  • 00:26:36
types of activities and trying to buy
  • 00:26:38
back your time and Outsource different
  • 00:26:40
things now I'll give you a specific
  • 00:26:41
example because I know this is kind of
  • 00:26:43
big let's say that you are a good
  • 00:26:46
developer okay you can do pretty much
  • 00:26:47
anything you can code anything out
  • 00:26:49
you're really good you're at like an
  • 00:26:50
expert level now you could simply work
  • 00:26:53
for everyone and no matter what you do
  • 00:26:55
you could just charge $200 an hour now
  • 00:26:57
you know know you're going to make $200
  • 00:26:59
an hour at this point like you are kind
  • 00:27:01
of an entrepreneur cuz you're doing
  • 00:27:02
freelance stuff but at the end of the
  • 00:27:03
day you're really just working as an
  • 00:27:04
employee and like your amount of income
  • 00:27:06
is limited by the amount of hours that
  • 00:27:07
you can work now if you were to instead
  • 00:27:10
of just charging by hour charge per
  • 00:27:13
project and based on the value you
  • 00:27:14
    provide you can completely substantially
  • 00:27:17
change the amount of money you're going
  • 00:27:18
to make it could be way lower or it
  • 00:27:19
could be way greater and I'll share with
  • 00:27:21
you what I mean you could go work for
  • 00:27:23
like a little mom and pop shops right
  • 00:27:25
when I say go work I me do a project for
  • 00:27:26
them you could maybe make them a web it
  • 00:27:28
and the value you're going to provide
  • 00:27:29
them is you're going to give them some
  • 00:27:30
exposure and let's say you can maybe
  • 00:27:32
generate them 10 new clients a month
  • 00:27:35
maybe each client that comes into the
  • 00:27:36
bakery or whatever store it is pays 3040
  • 00:27:39
$50 as an average purchase you've
  • 00:27:41
    generated let's say approximately $400
  • 00:27:44
in value in one month the reason is
  • 00:27:46
because well that's how much value they
  • 00:27:47
got from what you built they didn't pay
  • 00:27:49
you because you were good at building a
  • 00:27:50
website they paid you because you could
  • 00:27:52
get them clients right and they would
  • 00:27:53
have paid someone else the same if not
  • 00:27:55
more if they could have got them more
  • 00:27:56
clients if it came from something other
  • 00:27:57
than the website so in this case you're
  • 00:27:59
not framing your skill set in the light
  • 00:28:01
of oh I'm good at making websites I mean
  • 00:28:03
gu that's what you're going to do for
  • 00:28:04
them but you're saying I'm going to get
  • 00:28:05
you clients the way I will do that is
  • 00:28:08
because I have this skill set that's in
  • 00:28:10
development now that's a pretty low um
  • 00:28:12
leverage or pretty low value use of your
  • 00:28:14
time because you're working for very
  • 00:28:16
minimal value that you can generate now
  • 00:28:18
let's say we move it up a little bit and
  • 00:28:19
you now go and you work for a big
  • 00:28:21
    company let's say you're doing
  • 00:28:22
    freelancing for Microsoft and what
  • 00:28:24
you're going to do is you're going to
  • 00:28:25
build this automation tool that's going
  • 00:28:27
to save one ,000 hours a month because
  • 00:28:29
all these employees will now no longer
  • 00:28:31
need to do this task that's really
  • 00:28:32
repetitive and that could be automated I
  • 00:28:34
know this is an extreme example but just
  • 00:28:36
bear with me um to kind of get to the
  • 00:28:37
point here so now in this instance
  • 00:28:39
    you've saved a th000 hours of developer
  • 00:28:41
time per month how much is developer
  • 00:28:44
time worth let's say on the low side
  • 00:28:45
it's worth $1,000 you can do that
  • 00:28:47
    multiplication and now you've generated
  • 00:28:49
$100,000 in value or whatever that
  • 00:28:51
amount ends up being right what's
  • 00:28:53
changed is not what you're capable of
  • 00:28:55
doing you're a developer you can write
  • 00:28:57
code you could have just written code
  • 00:28:58
for either of these companies at $200
  • 00:29:00
per hour instead what you've done now is
  • 00:29:02
you've changed who you're working for
  • 00:29:04
and the amount of value you can
  • 00:29:06
potentially provide and the amount of
  • 00:29:07
value you can provide is not really
  • 00:29:09
based on the skill that you're doing
  • 00:29:10
it's based on the person that you're
  • 00:29:11
working for and the client that you have
  • 00:29:14
so this is just one example of how you
  • 00:29:15
shift from the employee mindset to the
  • 00:29:18
business mindset you start looking for
  • 00:29:19
the places where you can inject the most
  • 00:29:21
amount of value and you then extract a
  • 00:29:24
portion of that value right so if I were
  • 00:29:26
to generate $100,000 in value for a CL
  • 00:29:28
    I'm not taking $100,000 maybe I take3 or
  • 00:29:31
$40,000 some percentage of it because
  • 00:29:33
that's reasonable now I'll give you an
  • 00:29:35
example in my case making YouTube videos
  • 00:29:37
right I could easily make a YouTube
  • 00:29:39
video and I can promote some like stupid
  • 00:29:42
thing like a fidget spinner right like
  • 00:29:43
you guys will probably buy some of you
  • 00:29:45
will buy that right some of you will
  • 00:29:46
enjoy it but the thing is the amount of
  • 00:29:47
value I'm providing by promoting that is
  • 00:29:50
pretty low because it's a lowc cost item
  • 00:29:52
even if hundreds of you buy it it's
  • 00:29:53
still only going to generate like a few
  • 00:29:55
grand right not that much in sales
  • 00:29:56
whereas if I were to promote I really
  • 00:29:58
High ticket item that is something
  • 00:29:59
that's much more in the niche that makes
  • 00:30:00
a lot more sense I'm going to be able to
  • 00:30:02
get much more money or get paid a lot
  • 00:30:04
more money to do that because it's just
  • 00:30:06
more reasonable right it makes more
  • 00:30:07
sense it can generate more money for the
  • 00:30:09
client so rather than me pricing say a
  • 00:30:12
brand deal which is something I do all
  • 00:30:13
the time based on okay I always just
  • 00:30:15
charge $4,000 because I get this amount
  • 00:30:17
of views the price for my brand deal
  • 00:30:19
depends completely on the company that's
  • 00:30:21
working with me with that brand deal if
  • 00:30:23
    it's a company where I can't generate
  • 00:30:24
that much value I can't charge that much
  • 00:30:26
if it's a company where I can generate
  • 00:30:28
ton of value then the price goes up now
  • 00:30:30
again like I know this is kind of basic
  • 00:30:32
stuff but what I'm trying to get you to
  • 00:30:33
think about is that you need to use your
  • 00:30:35
time and position yourself in areas
  • 00:30:38
where you can generate the most amount
  • 00:30:39
of money and that doesn't really rely on
  • 00:30:42
what your skill set is it's really who
  • 00:30:44
you're serving and what you can do for
  • 00:30:47
other people right so that means picking
  • 00:30:49
the best clients finding the best
  • 00:30:51
    opportunities building the best
  • 00:30:52
Partnerships and you can do this in many
  • 00:30:54
different ways that I want to get into
  • 00:30:56
much more in depth in another course but
  • 00:30:58
you need to completely shift the way
  • 00:31:00
your brain works from like I'm worth
  • 00:31:01
this much power to where can I go what
  • 00:31:04
can I do where I can generate as much
  • 00:31:07
value as possible and then take some of
  • 00:31:09
that value back that's really the key
  • 00:31:12
and that's what I've learned over the
  • 00:31:13
past 10 years starting by doing what
  • 00:31:15
many of you probably do just charging
  • 00:31:16
per hour or charging a flat fee or doing
  • 00:31:18
something like that to saying no no no
  • 00:31:20
like I need to find the areas where I am
  • 00:31:23
actually leveraging my time the best and
  • 00:31:25
where my time equates to the most amount
  • 00:31:27
of money and again a lot of the times
  • 00:31:29
it's not really your skill set it's who
  • 00:31:30
you're working for the clients and um
  • 00:31:32
what you're able to do for them so
  • 00:31:34
that's just one small example so that's
  • 00:31:36
the key point and what you need to do
  • 00:31:37
early on is you need to discover and
  • 00:31:40
find where you are most valuable right
  • 00:31:42
I'm not saying this is easy I'm not
  • 00:31:43
saying you know this day one and you do
  • 00:31:45
that by trying a lot of different things
  • 00:31:47
    experimenting messing around trying this
  • 00:31:49
trying that failing in different Avenues
  • 00:31:52
tutoring realizing okay it's not really
  • 00:31:53
worth my time to tutor instead I'm going
  • 00:31:55
to do this oh this actually I feel like
  • 00:31:56
I'm getting paid a good amount okay let
  • 00:31:58
me try something like this right you
  • 00:31:59
keep moving around and adjusting until
  • 00:32:01
you tap into where you are actually the
  • 00:32:04
most valuable and what's going to tell
  • 00:32:06
you that is when people start paying you
  • 00:32:07
money to do those things which also
  • 00:32:09
means you have to be comfortable asking
  • 00:32:11
for money that you've never received
  • 00:32:13
before setting some crazy high price
  • 00:32:15
that you don't think anyone will
  • 00:32:16
actually pay like you mess around and
  • 00:32:18
find your value in the marketplace by
  • 00:32:19
    experimenting and seeing what people
  • 00:32:21
will pay just bluntly with you guys if I
  • 00:32:23
do a brand deal or something along those
  • 00:32:25
lines I will just throw random numbers
  • 00:32:27
to company that maybe I don't care that
  • 00:32:29
much about working with to try to figure
  • 00:32:30
out where I lay in the marketplace
  • 00:32:33
because if company a is willing to pay
  • 00:32:34
    me
  • 00:32:35
    $25,000 then Company B they're probably
  • 00:32:37
going to be close in that range and I
  • 00:32:39
never would have known that if I was too
  • 00:32:41
scared to ask for that figure in the
  • 00:32:43
first place and potentially be rejected
  • 00:32:44
or potentially fail on that deal now
  • 00:32:48
once you found that and you're like okay
  • 00:32:49
this is my thing like this is what I'm
  • 00:32:51
good at this is where I can actually
  • 00:32:52
make a lot of money you need to
  • 00:32:53
understand how do I do more of that
  • 00:32:55
thing right so it's optimizing your your
  • 00:32:58
time so now maybe you're hiring an
  • 00:32:59
employee maybe you're getting a virtual
  • 00:33:01
assistant in my case I have editors I
  • 00:33:03
have agents I have people that work like
  • 00:33:05
for my YouTube channel which is the main
  • 00:33:06
thing that I run and why do I do that
  • 00:33:08
because my time is better spent making
  • 00:33:10
the videos than it is negotiating with
  • 00:33:12
brands or it is editing videos or other
  • 00:33:15
things along those lines so you start to
  • 00:33:17
really optimize the systems and figure
  • 00:33:19
out how do I do more of the thing that
  • 00:33:22
I'm getting the most amount of value
  • 00:33:23
    from and why can't I do 10x 20x 30X 40x
  • 00:33:27
that thing once you figure that out you
  • 00:33:28
can build the volume and you can start
  • 00:33:30
to actually scale now at the same time
  • 00:33:32
you also then have to ask yourself you
  • 00:33:34
know where is the balance here do I want
  • 00:33:35
to keep doing this do I even want to
  • 00:33:37
scale and the nice thing with an
  • 00:33:38
entrepreneur is that you have control
  • 00:33:40
and you can just make 100 200k a year if
  • 00:33:42
you get to that point I don't really
  • 00:33:43
need much more than that I'm happy just
  • 00:33:45
doing this hanging out working 20 hours
  • 00:33:47
per week and that's the greatest benefit
  • 00:33:49
of going down this path now there's a
  • 00:33:51
lot more I could talk about here and I
  • 00:33:53
realized this is a little bit of a rant
  • 00:33:54
video wasn't super structured but I
  • 00:33:57
wanted to just kind of eject in you the
  • 00:33:59
different ways you think about things
  • 00:34:01
right A lot of people think about a
  • 00:34:03
skill as simply a salary they can make
  • 00:34:05
per year or an amount of money they can
  • 00:34:07
make per hour it's the wrong way to
  • 00:34:09
think about things when you go into that
  • 00:34:11
    entrepreneurial route again I keep
  • 00:34:14
repeating it you just have to figure out
  • 00:34:16
what value do you provide and where can
  • 00:34:18
you provide the most you can then tap
  • 00:34:20
into that and take it out two people can
  • 00:34:23
have the exact same skill set and
  • 00:34:24
    provide vastly different amounts of
  • 00:34:26
value based on on the type of tasks
  • 00:34:28
    they're actually completing with that
  • 00:34:30
skill set and that's what you need to
  • 00:34:32
think about so that's going to wrap up
  • 00:34:33
video three let's move on to video 4 so
  • 00:34:36
let's get into video 4 we talk a bit
  • 00:34:37
    more strategically here about thinking
  • 00:34:40
longterm now this has many different
  • 00:34:42
meetings but generally speaking I want
  • 00:34:44
to make sure that any of the activities
  • 00:34:45
I'm sharing with you here or even just
  • 00:34:47
your ability to make money with coding
  • 00:34:48
doesn't die in a few years and that this
  • 00:34:50
is something you can do sustainably over
  • 00:34:52
a longer period of time because again
  • 00:34:54
what's the point if we only can do this
  • 00:34:56
for 2 3 4 years yes you can make some
  • 00:34:58
quick money but for me I'm always about
  • 00:35:01
    building the skills building the
  • 00:35:03
    business building the ability to
  • 00:35:05
generate wealth and not just doing it
  • 00:35:06
over a very short period of time and
  • 00:35:08
then dying out and having to find
  • 00:35:09
something else this should be something
  • 00:35:11
    that's sustainable it should be
  • 00:35:12
something long term at least that's the
  • 00:35:14
way that I look at it you may look at it
  • 00:35:16
differently but I'm going to share with
  • 00:35:17
you here my perspective now when I say
  • 00:35:20
thinking long term first of all that
  • 00:35:21
means before we jump into trying to earn
  • 00:35:23
as much money as possible we want to
  • 00:35:25
build that foundational skill of coding
  • 00:35:28
anyone who's going to make a lot of
  • 00:35:29
money with this has to First be decent
  • 00:35:31
at development you don't need to be an
  • 00:35:33
expert but you need to be confident in
  • 00:35:35
your abilities and I think confidence is
  • 00:35:37
the key word there this is something
  • 00:35:39
that exudes pretty much everyone that
  • 00:35:40
you talk to and something that really
  • 00:35:42
    affects you internally whether you
  • 00:35:43
realize it or not you've probably had
  • 00:35:45
this before you walked into a job
  • 00:35:47
interview applying for a position where
  • 00:35:48
you're not qualified even though you
  • 00:35:50
might be able to fake it a little bit
  • 00:35:52
generally people can tell when you're
  • 00:35:54
confident in what you're doing and not
  • 00:35:56
and even the way you speak the way you
  • 00:35:57
answer questions the way you think about
  • 00:35:59
    things uh internally yourself
  • 00:36:00
subconsciously are affected by the fact
  • 00:36:02
you know that you're not actually
  • 00:36:03
qualified for that role now same goes in
  • 00:36:06
reverse you go into an interview you
  • 00:36:07
    know you're overqualified you know
  • 00:36:08
you're going to kill this job you know
  • 00:36:10
that this is like exactly what you're
  • 00:36:11
meant to do you're going to really exude
  • 00:36:13
that confidence is going to be very
  • 00:36:15
obvious to everyone in the room and you
  • 00:36:16
yourself are going to speak in a
  • 00:36:18
different way carry yourself in a
  • 00:36:19
different way because you actually know
  • 00:36:21
that you can do the thing and even if no
  • 00:36:23
one else knows that just you knowing it
  • 00:36:25
yourself uh really makes a huge
  • 00:36:27
    difference found that personally in
  • 00:36:28
myself quite a bit when I started
  • 00:36:30
program when I started posting YouTube
  • 00:36:32
    videos I wasn't that confident I didn't
  • 00:36:34
    have the accomplishments or the
  • 00:36:36
achievements to actually say hey like
  • 00:36:38
I'm a great developer and it took me a
  • 00:36:40
fair amount of time to build that up to
  • 00:36:42
the point where I could speak more
  • 00:36:43
confidently right I could come across
  • 00:36:45
like I actually know what I'm talking
  • 00:36:46
about because I did and I was confident
  • 00:36:48
in myself so please first build that
  • 00:36:50
skill and it's going to help you in
  • 00:36:52
pretty much every area of life and
  • 00:36:54
business so let's say we've done that we
  • 00:36:55
have the confidence what's next well
  • 00:36:57
this three main things I want to talk
  • 00:36:58
about in this video and that's being a
  • 00:37:00
    professional reputation and reliability
  • 00:37:03
um and we'll talk about a few other
  • 00:37:04
small things as well now let's start
  • 00:37:06
with being a professional no matter what
  • 00:37:08
area of business you're in no matter
  • 00:37:09
what you do you want to be as
  • 00:37:12
professional as you possibly can now
  • 00:37:14
what that means is even simple things
  • 00:37:15
    like using proper punctuation and
  • 00:37:17
    grammar having an email signature
  • 00:37:20
answering on time being fast to reply
  • 00:37:23
showing up on time and being reliable I
  • 00:37:26
mean these things all kind of tie into
  • 00:37:27
with each other everyone wants to work
  • 00:37:30
    with someone who's professional right
  • 00:37:32
being a professional just shows that you
  • 00:37:34
actually know what you're doing you've
  • 00:37:36
done this before and that you can
  • 00:37:38
actually deliver on whatever it is that
  • 00:37:39
you're promising now I'll give you some
  • 00:37:41
specific examples here because this is
  • 00:37:43
    really applicable especially in the
  • 00:37:44
YouTube space which is where I obviously
  • 00:37:46
make a lot of money now on YouTube you
  • 00:37:49
have let's just be blunt here a lot of
  • 00:37:50
kids right and you have a lot of people
  • 00:37:52
who are like vloggers or entertainers or
  • 00:37:54
they don't actually have any real skill
  • 00:37:56
set they just like have bunch of
  • 00:37:57
followers and they do silly goofy stuff
  • 00:37:59
online now with a few exceptions many of
  • 00:38:01
these people do not know what it's like
  • 00:38:03
to run a business they don't know what
  • 00:38:04
it's like to be professional they don't
  • 00:38:05
know what it's like to even work in any
  • 00:38:07
kind of corporate world they're in a
  • 00:38:08
place where like you have to maybe put a
  • 00:38:10
dress shirt on or you have to speak in a
  • 00:38:12
certain way or there's manners or um you
  • 00:38:15
know formalities or whatever and you
  • 00:38:16
guys can say what you want about that
  • 00:38:17
but the truth is there's so many people
  • 00:38:19
especially in this content space that
  • 00:38:21
are like a nightmare to work with right
  • 00:38:22
for example maybe you'll sign a deal
  • 00:38:23
with them and they just don't respond to
  • 00:38:25
you right they won't reply to you they
  • 00:38:26
won't show up for a call maybe it takes
  • 00:38:28
them 3 weeks to cancel on you maybe they
  • 00:38:30
don't deliver maybe they're late uh
  • 00:38:32
maybe on even on the brand side maybe
  • 00:38:34
you pay really late or you don't hold up
  • 00:38:36
the deal with the Creator or whatever
  • 00:38:37
ends up happening right there's just so
  • 00:38:39
    many examples of
  • 00:38:40
    unprofessionalism when that happens
  • 00:38:42
obviously that ruins your reputation and
  • 00:38:44
it makes you undesirable to work with
  • 00:38:45
even if you're able to contribute a lot
  • 00:38:47
of value so you want to no matter what
  • 00:38:50
you do be a professional in that space
  • 00:38:53
and I guarantee you it's going to help
  • 00:38:54
you in so many ways that you won't even
  • 00:38:56
realize and you're just going to be
  • 00:38:57
someone who's desirable to work with I
  • 00:39:00
get a lot of repeat deals I get a lot of
  • 00:39:02
repeat customers and clients and one of
  • 00:39:04
the main comments I get is that my
  • 00:39:05
operation is tight things are organized
  • 00:39:08
we're controlled we reply to people I'm
  • 00:39:10
easy to work with I answer really
  • 00:39:11
quickly I'm diligent I make sure that if
  • 00:39:13
there's any mistakes or issues they get
  • 00:39:15
    resolved immediately that's what it's
  • 00:39:16
like being a professional and you want
  • 00:39:18
to be that in whatever field you are so
  • 00:39:21
just really keep that in mind now
  • 00:39:23
obviously being a professional is going
  • 00:39:24
to help with your reputation right you
  • 00:39:26
want to be someone who no so when I say
  • 00:39:28
reputation that means maybe you do
  • 00:39:31
things right now that don't make you any
  • 00:39:33
money but that build you a really really
  • 00:39:35
good reputation that could be even in
  • 00:39:38
outside of the scope of coding maybe you
  • 00:39:40
do some volunteer work or maybe you're
  • 00:39:42
really into this specific cause you help
  • 00:39:44
out with this thing maybe you post
  • 00:39:45
completely free videos online like I did
  • 00:39:48
for many many years building your
  • 00:39:50
    credibility and building your reputation
  • 00:39:52
and then eventually later on starting to
  • 00:39:54
monetize that and starting to cash out
  • 00:39:56
on that reput that you've built there's
  • 00:39:58
a lot of things you can do that in the
  • 00:40:00
short term don't seem like they're
  • 00:40:02
really doing anything for you but what
  • 00:40:03
you are building again is that
  • 00:40:05
    professionalism that reputation and the
  • 00:40:07
fact that you're reliable and if you can
  • 00:40:09
    build your presence especially online
  • 00:40:11
things like social media even medium
  • 00:40:12
post maybe you're a contributor to an
  • 00:40:14
open source project that's going to help
  • 00:40:16
you in more ways that you can imagine
  • 00:40:17
it's really difficult to actually put a
  • 00:40:20
dollar figure or a value on those
  • 00:40:22
contributions so that's what I'm kind of
  • 00:40:23
talking about in this video there's a
  • 00:40:25
lot of strategic things you can do that
  • 00:40:26
early on don't immediately give you that
  • 00:40:29
reward that longterm are really going to
  • 00:40:31
help you and build who you are as a
  • 00:40:34
person right build your brand build your
  • 00:40:35
company whatever it ends up being now
  • 00:40:37
obviously being reliable I think this
  • 00:40:39
one is pretty simple you need to be
  • 00:40:41
someone that other people can count on
  • 00:40:43
they can rely on they have to know that
  • 00:40:44
if they give you a task there's no
  • 00:40:46
question there's no reason why you would
  • 00:40:48
ever not complete that and this is a
  • 00:40:51
complement I used to get all the time
  • 00:40:52
even when I was younger that people
  • 00:40:54
could just give me something and they
  • 00:40:55
just knew it was going to get done they
  • 00:40:56
knew it would be you don't have to worry
  • 00:40:58
about it I'm sure many of you have been
  • 00:41:00
in situations maybe like a group project
  • 00:41:01
where you just know that the teammates
  • 00:41:03
are not reliable like you can tell them
  • 00:41:05
to do something you can check in with
  • 00:41:06
them every single day you can do
  • 00:41:07
whatever you want and you're almost
  • 00:41:09
certain it's just not going to get done
  • 00:41:11
or that you have to take it into your
  • 00:41:12
own hands because you can't rely on the
  • 00:41:14
fact that it's going to be finished no
  • 00:41:15
one wants an unreliable partner no one
  • 00:41:17
wants an unreliable wife no one wants an
  • 00:41:19
unreliable client to work with so you
  • 00:41:21
need to be reliable and you need to get
  • 00:41:23
stuff done uh even if that means
  • 00:41:25
    sacrificing right because that builds
  • 00:41:26
your re reputation so that's kind of
  • 00:41:28
what I'm talking about in this video and
  • 00:41:30
those are a few ideas to make you think
  • 00:41:32
a little bit more longterm you don't
  • 00:41:34
want to just take quick money do things
  • 00:41:37
fast you don't want to scam people you
  • 00:41:38
don't want to do things poorly sometimes
  • 00:41:40
it might take you five hours longer than
  • 00:41:42
you thought to complete this project you
  • 00:41:43
could just submit it and get paid right
  • 00:41:45
now but instead you're going to put in
  • 00:41:47
that extra work to build that reputation
  • 00:41:49
so this guy knows hey he's willing to
  • 00:41:50
put in the extra mile I'm going to come
  • 00:41:52
back I'm going to refer him I'm going to
  • 00:41:53
use him again so just kind of a general
  • 00:41:55
video here and really actually Target
  • 00:41:57
targeted towards a lot of you that are a
  • 00:41:58
bit younger or maybe just getting
  • 00:42:00
    started even if you're only 15 16 17
  • 00:42:03
years old be a professional use proper
  • 00:42:06
grammar be on time be reliable this is
  • 00:42:09
going to really set you apart especially
  • 00:42:11
at a young age and there's people that
  • 00:42:13
are 30 40 years old that'll be taking
  • 00:42:14
notes from you if you really take this
  • 00:42:16
advice and actually adhere to it anyways
  • 00:42:18
guys I'm going to wrap that up here and
  • 00:42:19
that's actually going to finish this
  • 00:42:21
course I know this was short I know it's
  • 00:42:23
not necessarily a stepbystep guide there
  • 00:42:26
is just so many opportunities there's so
  • 00:42:28
many ways to make money and as I said my
  • 00:42:30
goal for you is to get the wheels
  • 00:42:31
    spinning get you thinking about
  • 00:42:33
different things and share with you a
  • 00:42:34
few perspectives of mine and some
  • 00:42:36
experiences so you can start thinking
  • 00:42:38
okay what is my strategy going to be how
  • 00:42:40
do I actually want to make money do I
  • 00:42:41
want to just go work a job do I want to
  • 00:42:43
do freelancing do I want to try these
  • 00:42:44
    different Avenues and hopefully after
  • 00:42:46
this course you guys are going to go and
  • 00:42:48
try at least one of those things that I
  • 00:42:50
mentioned and you're going to share with
  • 00:42:51
us in the community how that went for
  • 00:42:53
you whether you failed or whether you
  • 00:42:54
succeeded I would love to hear that we
  • 00:42:56
will be making a more in-depth course on
  • 00:42:58
this sometime in the future we'll let
  • 00:43:00
you know when that comes out for now
  • 00:43:02
thank you for watching and see you in
  • 00:43:03
    the community
