00:00:11
hey guys and welcome back to my channel
00:00:13
and welcome to today's video today I am
00:00:17
here to walk through my July budget with
00:00:19
you guys I apologize that this is
00:00:22
already set up and it's just a walk
00:00:23
through I know a lot of you guys really
00:00:26
love when I sit down and put it together
00:00:28
with you guys unfortunately I put this
00:00:31
together before Fourth of July weekend
00:00:34
when we are heading to Indiana so it's a
00:00:37
very quick
00:00:38
um a very quick process and there just
00:00:40
wasn't any time to film it but I'm
00:00:42
hoping in August I can sit down film it
00:00:45
make the time to do it because I know
00:00:47
that's something that you guys really
00:00:48
enjoy
00:00:49
um seeing I have some sticky notes down
00:00:52
because I am kind of over like not
00:00:55
writing in numbers and then like having
00:00:57
to remember what I was thinking and how
00:01:00
much we were gonna save and all of that
00:01:01
so I have income and savings blocked off
00:01:04
I really do believe that all the
00:01:07
principals and methods of budgeting that
00:01:11
I kind of live by are
00:01:14
helpful regardless of knowing exactly
00:01:17
what kind of income we're bringing in
00:01:19
and what we're saving
00:01:21
um I personally try to maximize my
00:01:24
savings that's our Main Financial goal
00:01:28
right now is just to save so just kind
00:01:30
of keep that in mind
00:01:32
we have expenses we have a house we have
00:01:36
um
00:01:37
two kids you know we have expenses but
00:01:40
for the most part we try and keep things
00:01:42
to a minimum and really just save as
00:01:46
much as possible I've mentioned this
00:01:48
before but we are somewhat paying down
00:01:52
our house not super duper aggressively
00:01:54
because there are a few things outside
00:01:56
that we would love to do our to our
00:01:57
house but right now we have like no set
00:01:59
plans so
00:02:01
um overall just main goal right now is
00:02:03
to save so
00:02:05
let me just really quickly kind of walk
00:02:07
you guys through what my budget planner
00:02:10
looks like this is the planner that I'm
00:02:12
using for 2023 and 2024 I will be using
00:02:16
my budget planner so the 2024 humble
00:02:19
beginnings budget planner that's what I
00:02:21
will be using all of my stickers will
00:02:24
still fit in
00:02:26
the new planner um I get a lot of
00:02:28
questions about that so those will still
00:02:30
fit but I'm really excited to start
00:02:32
using that it's more geared towards
00:02:34
budgeting it has so many different
00:02:37
schedules all ready to go
00:02:39
um and that planner by the time that you
00:02:40
guys are watching this should be back in
00:02:42
the shop we have
00:02:44
um a chunk of planners left and we were
00:02:48
waiting on some replacement Pages those
00:02:50
should be in by the time this video is
00:02:52
going up so
00:02:54
um if you want to pick up a budget
00:02:55
planner from me definitely go check out
00:02:57
my Etsy shop so here is where I keep
00:03:00
track of all of our variable expenses so
00:03:03
I have some paydays marked with little
00:03:06
dots and then I have groceries
00:03:08
um in the dark blue light blue eating
00:03:10
out householders and yellow gas for our
00:03:13
cars is in green and then one of the
00:03:16
budget items that we have in our
00:03:18
variable expenses are Camp related items
00:03:21
so we had to pay for camp for Mila
00:03:24
um camper Macy and then Macy does
00:03:26
tutoring so those are some expenses
00:03:27
related to Camp that um you'll see in a
00:03:30
second so I keep track of all my
00:03:32
variable expenses here I like to do it
00:03:35
here in my monthly view because I like
00:03:36
to track patterns and I feel like it's
00:03:38
nice like when I'm taking a look at
00:03:40
everything to say like okay you know
00:03:42
maybe groceries are a problem because
00:03:45
we're not doing it ahead of time we're
00:03:47
not doing it for the week starts or oh
00:03:49
like you know Sundays seem to be a day
00:03:52
where we don't have much food in the
00:03:53
house we're eating out a little bit more
00:03:54
maybe we need to just make sure that we
00:03:56
make like an extra trip to the grocery
00:03:57
store something like that it's nice to
00:04:00
see like how often we're filling up on
00:04:01
gas lots of different reasons why this
00:04:04
could come in handy but I like to see
00:04:06
all my variable expenses here next here
00:04:09
I have a log of our expenses for our
00:04:14
trip so all of these expenses will be
00:04:17
like totaled up and moved over to our
00:04:20
sinking funds because we do have an
00:04:21
entertainment slash vacation fund I'm
00:04:24
still waiting on a couple
00:04:26
of these gas receipts to finalize and
00:04:30
then I'll add all those up and we'll be
00:04:32
good to go
00:04:33
I have my weekly check in here I did
00:04:35
make some custom scripts for myself so
00:04:37
as soon as I cut those I'm gonna put
00:04:39
those in just so that I don't have to
00:04:40
write them I feel like that's always one
00:04:42
thing that is really annoying is like I
00:04:44
have to take out my ruler and write you
00:04:46
know put it down make sure it's all
00:04:48
lined up so I'm going to take the
00:04:50
guesswork out of it I'm going to lay it
00:04:51
all down so it's ready to go
00:04:53
okay so now we have our budget here
00:04:57
um so we'll go through our variable
00:04:59
expenses and then our fixed expenses and
00:05:01
I really hope that you guys cannot hear
00:05:04
these trucks I think there's a lot of
00:05:06
construction going on around us and it's
00:05:10
just kind of annoying so
00:05:12
um
00:05:13
anyway
00:05:15
that is going on outside right now so
00:05:17
for electric I budgeted a hundred
00:05:19
dollars I've noticed the last couple of
00:05:22
months that our electric is going up our
00:05:24
gas is going down so 100 for gas or
00:05:27
sorry for electric gas I budgeted forty
00:05:29
dollars it ended up being 36.86 so we're
00:05:32
under there which is good groceries we
00:05:35
budget 200 per week um so there's four
00:05:38
weeks in July for groceries so that's
00:05:41
eight hundred dollars eating out we
00:05:43
budgeted three hundred dollars
00:05:45
um it seems like between groceries and
00:05:47
eating out we're always pretty good in
00:05:49
terms of budget but sometimes we eat out
00:05:52
a little bit more sometimes we eat at
00:05:55
home a little bit more so it's kind of
00:05:56
like this little weight and um
00:05:59
you know whatever way that we end up
00:06:01
doing it it seems like regardless we end
00:06:04
up being under budget for food which is
00:06:06
good household I budgeted 150 so that's
00:06:10
for
00:06:11
um toilet paper paper towels laundry
00:06:14
soap things like that
00:06:16
the reason why all of these are
00:06:18
separated is because typically Jason is
00:06:21
in charge of food he goes grocery
00:06:23
shopping for the most part and then I
00:06:26
will pick up household items I'm the one
00:06:28
who's in charge of making sure we have
00:06:29
toilet paper paper towels toothpaste
00:06:32
that type of stuff gas for our cars we
00:06:35
budgeted 200 we officially have four
00:06:38
different vehicles in our household so
00:06:43
um both Jason and I have a car and then
00:06:45
we both have like a motorcycle I just
00:06:48
recently got a moped so
00:06:51
um it's really nice because the moped
00:06:53
and the Motorcycle definitely save a lot
00:06:55
on gas I think my moped gets like 140
00:06:59
miles per gallon
00:07:01
so just some fun options in terms of
00:07:04
like summertime and fall time and
00:07:06
getting to get outside and enjoy the
00:07:09
weather a little bit so
00:07:10
um with all of that being said I think
00:07:12
the 200 is going to be just fine for all
00:07:15
of us I don't think that we're going to
00:07:16
need any more than that to make it by
00:07:20
um cash dividers are 280 this is exactly
00:07:23
the same as it always has been this
00:07:25
includes haircut money for both
00:07:28
um well I should say haircut for Jason
00:07:30
and then I go get my eyebrows threaded
00:07:34
and then for both of our allowances it
00:07:36
also gives Macy the opportunity
00:07:39
to earn some money around the house and
00:07:42
in the past it's funny that it's cash
00:07:45
dividers because it's not actually cash
00:07:46
in the past we would take that money out
00:07:48
now I keep track of these cash divider
00:07:52
items on separate sheets where I like
00:07:54
break out each person's money and what
00:07:57
you're spending
00:07:58
sinking funds I'll go over that in a
00:08:00
second but we budgeted 100
00:08:03
1998.31
00:08:05
unbudgeted is zero and then summer camp
00:08:08
and tutoring I budgeted 400 I think
00:08:11
that's actually going to be way more
00:08:13
than 400 I did not think about tutoring
00:08:17
when I was creating this budget so it'll
00:08:19
be a little bit more but that is okay
00:08:22
Nexus fixed expenses so for our mortgage
00:08:25
I budgeted 250 this is already paid
00:08:27
which is why there's a little check mark
00:08:30
um our mortgage is not 200 not 2 500
00:08:35
um we are paying extra towards it every
00:08:38
single month we're not again doing it
00:08:40
very aggressively but we are paying off
00:08:41
our Loan in half the amount of time by
00:08:43
just adding in a couple
00:08:46
um 100 extra dollars internet for us is
00:08:48
55 Hulu live is 74.99 Netflix is 19.99
00:08:54
our cell phones are eighty dollars
00:08:57
life insurance for myself is 42.55 we
00:09:00
are putting 400 into the girls 529 plans
00:09:04
our ring doorbell is 3.99 that's just so
00:09:08
that we can like go back and review
00:09:09
footage I really like having this
00:09:11
especially when we're gone
00:09:13
um on little trips so we can make sure
00:09:15
that our house is okay
00:09:17
preschool for Mila is one thousand two
00:09:20
hundred thirty four dollars and five
00:09:21
cents my laser treatments are three
00:09:24
hundred and twelve dollars and seventy
00:09:26
cents and then one of Macy's camps um
00:09:28
which is a fixed expense because we kind
00:09:31
of have like this plan going is 195. um
00:09:34
this is the last month that we'll have
00:09:36
that and then you probably have already
00:09:38
noticed but I no longer have my
00:09:40
orthodontist in here we paid our last
00:09:42
payment last month which was really nice
00:09:45
um so yeah that was really nice to no
00:09:47
longer have that as a payment that we
00:09:49
have to pay
00:09:51
um next we're going to move on to our
00:09:53
sinking funds so we've already had a
00:09:55
couple thinking funds come through
00:09:58
um we picked up Macy some just cheap gym
00:10:00
shoes for the summer time she goes
00:10:02
through shoes so quickly so that's 22.
00:10:05
we paid tolls that was twenty dollars
00:10:08
and then I just picked up some
00:10:10
Foundation some
00:10:12
um like
00:10:14
why can't I think of face wash and then
00:10:16
also some sunscreen Ulta has
00:10:20
um like Clinique sunscreen so I'm gonna
00:10:23
try it out and see how I like it I've
00:10:25
kind of noticed that I don't think that
00:10:27
my
00:10:28
I don't think that my sunscreen is
00:10:31
um that I've been using is strong enough
00:10:33
because I've noticed that my face has
00:10:34
been getting burnt a little bit more
00:10:36
than in the past and I don't know if
00:10:38
it's because I've been outside more or
00:10:40
what but
00:10:41
I officially got like the 50 SPF so I'm
00:10:44
hoping that that helps so those are some
00:10:46
of the transactions that we've had so
00:10:49
far like I said once we know what's
00:10:52
going on
00:10:53
um I will like once I have all the
00:10:56
totals for our trip I will go ahead and
00:10:59
include those and that will be a line
00:11:01
item that you see here
00:11:03
okay so for sinking funds we'll just
00:11:05
kind of go over what our beginning
00:11:07
balances were and then what we're adding
00:11:09
so for activities we had 134 12 we're
00:11:12
adding in a hundred dollars Beauty I had
00:11:15
50 I added in 50 and I ended up spending
00:11:18
105 I think so a little bit over budget
00:11:20
there car insurance is
00:11:24
861.87 we added in 150 the motorcycle
00:11:27
car insurance or insurance will be
00:11:30
coming out in July and then our August
00:11:35
um in August we will be paying like both
00:11:37
of our car insurance so lots of money
00:11:39
coming out very soon
00:11:41
car maintenance we had 94 17 we're
00:11:44
adding in 100 like I said we have four
00:11:46
vehicles now so we just want to make
00:11:47
sure that we're putting an adequate
00:11:49
amount away both of our cars are
00:11:51
starting to get older so again just need
00:11:53
to put money aside for that card tags we
00:11:56
had 78.60 we added in forty dollars
00:11:59
Christmas and Gifts we're we had 692.67
00:12:03
we added in 400 this is a like a really
00:12:07
big category
00:12:09
um I know these amounts seem extreme but
00:12:11
when you factor in all the little things
00:12:13
that it kind of involves it's really not
00:12:16
much
00:12:17
um so this is for any type of gift so if
00:12:20
Macy and Miele are included in a
00:12:22
birthday party invited to a birthday
00:12:23
party this is where we spend money from
00:12:26
if we're buying presents for the girls
00:12:28
this is where it comes from it involves
00:12:30
Christmas pretty much every single
00:12:32
holiday every single birthday it also
00:12:34
includes both the girls birthday parties
00:12:36
so it encompasses a lot
00:12:39
um
00:12:39
if me and Jason have like an anniversary
00:12:41
it includes that Mother's Day Father's
00:12:43
Day so although this might seem like a
00:12:46
lot
00:12:47
I've noticed that every single year I'm
00:12:49
always like we need to up this because
00:12:50
it ends up just you know buying gifts
00:12:54
for other people and celebrating
00:12:56
birthdays and stuff it adds up
00:12:58
um next we have clothes so Jason had 20
00:13:00
we added in 50. the girls had negative
00:13:04
six dollars and five cents we added in a
00:13:06
hundred I had negative 29.33 I added in
00:13:11
a hundred dollars the reason why I'm
00:13:13
including some extra money for me
00:13:15
um well one I'm including money for
00:13:18
everybody but for me is because Jason
00:13:20
and I are going on an anniversary trip
00:13:22
coming up um in August so I wanted to
00:13:25
include some extra money so I can buy
00:13:27
some like cute sundresses and things
00:13:28
like that for when we're gone
00:13:31
Costco we had 25 we're adding in five
00:13:33
dollars that's just for our membership
00:13:35
diapers be a 51.84 we're adding in ten
00:13:39
dollars
00:13:40
entertainment and vacation we had
00:13:42
negative 19.33 we added in 500 again
00:13:46
this is for like any type of fun
00:13:50
activity if we go to a water park if we
00:13:52
go on like a mini road trip
00:13:55
um it also includes our vacation
00:13:58
for our anniversary we've already paid
00:14:00
for our um we've already paid for the
00:14:04
Airbnb that we're going to stay in and
00:14:06
we already paid for the rental car and
00:14:07
our flights so going forward the only
00:14:10
money we'll have to pay is like food and
00:14:12
stuff like that and then whatever types
00:14:14
of activities we do
00:14:15
family pictures we had 268.96 we added
00:14:18
in 25 Home Maintenance we added in well
00:14:23
we had 390 393.64 we added in 200
00:14:27
medical we were negative 78.31 we added
00:14:32
in 78.31 and now we're at zero my plan
00:14:35
is to close that because we now have an
00:14:39
um a health savings account
00:14:41
and we're contributing a set amount
00:14:45
um to that so instead of you know paying
00:14:49
everything
00:14:50
after tax I want to start paying for
00:14:53
like our medical bills before tax we
00:14:56
have a nice chunk of money in there the
00:14:57
only reason why we ended up being
00:14:59
negative is because Milo went to Urgent
00:15:02
Care when she had pink eye and the
00:15:04
Urgent Care like just paid like just
00:15:06
charged our Discover card
00:15:09
um and I could like transfer money or
00:15:13
whatever but I'm just not going to deal
00:15:14
with it so going forward we'll just make
00:15:16
sure that we use that HSA
00:15:20
um subscriptions we had a hundred
00:15:21
dollars we're adding in 20. this is for
00:15:24
let's see I think it's for like our
00:15:27
what did we pay our Amazon and my gym
00:15:30
membership
00:15:32
tolls we had four dollars we added in
00:15:34
20. trash we had 42.52 we added in 20
00:15:38
and then water we had 47.45 we added in
00:15:41
30. so those are all of our sinking
00:15:44
funds
00:15:45
super duper fun
00:15:48
um I feel like thinking funds are so
00:15:50
nice to have because if something comes
00:15:52
up and you need to spend money it's nice
00:15:54
having the money set aside but it's also
00:15:57
a little bit of a pain in the butt to
00:15:59
like you know constantly be adding all
00:16:01
these things up again I think it's
00:16:03
personally worth it because I like
00:16:05
having all this money set aside and not
00:16:08
feeling guilty when we have to spend
00:16:09
money from these items but that is what
00:16:12
it is and then let me quickly just show
00:16:14
you
00:16:15
what I'm doing for our allowances so
00:16:19
this is Jason's and I'm just using a
00:16:21
spending tracker I'm keeping it really
00:16:23
simple
00:16:24
um so Jason had 21.41 as a rollover he
00:16:28
gets 120 for our July allowance which
00:16:31
means he had a balance of 141.41 and
00:16:34
then I think he picked up tea from
00:16:36
McDonald's this morning so that was 2
00:16:38
46. so I'll just keep like a running
00:16:40
total of all the stuff he pays for in
00:16:43
July and then like whatever's left over
00:16:46
will be rolled over to August one thing
00:16:50
that me and Jason have talked about a
00:16:51
lot recently is increasing our
00:16:55
um allowances Jason has been going
00:16:58
golfing a lot with his friend
00:17:00
um so like I was saying Jason has been
00:17:02
going golfing a lot with his friends
00:17:04
um he's also been like you know going on
00:17:06
motorcycle trips and doing all kinds of
00:17:09
fun stuff and I really like that I think
00:17:12
it's important for both of us like we're
00:17:13
both working we're both taking care of
00:17:15
kids and raising kids we are doing a lot
00:17:18
of things on the kids schedule with
00:17:20
activities and things like that so I
00:17:22
think it's really important that we both
00:17:24
have our hobbies and we both get to do
00:17:26
fun things for ourselves so one thing
00:17:29
that we've been talking about a lot
00:17:30
lately is increasing our allowances so
00:17:32
that we can accommodate those things and
00:17:34
I'm not sure exactly what that's going
00:17:36
to look like but we'll definitely have
00:17:37
to discuss that a little bit more as
00:17:40
August comes about I'm already done
00:17:42
we've already put together our July
00:17:43
budget but for August I think it would
00:17:45
be really good to just increase it a
00:17:46
little bit and you guys if you've been
00:17:49
around for a while you probably know in
00:17:51
the past Jason had a golf sinking fund
00:17:53
well I was totally fine with including
00:17:56
that again
00:17:57
but the thing is a lot of times Jason
00:17:58
isn't going golfing sometimes he's doing
00:18:00
other things and so I think it'd be nice
00:18:02
to just have more money in general and
00:18:05
not have it like set aside for something
00:18:07
specific
00:18:08
um and that way like if he doesn't end
00:18:10
up spending the money one month it can
00:18:12
roll over to the next and he can use it
00:18:14
for something else so anyway that is an
00:18:16
overview of our July budget and kind of
00:18:19
what we've been up to and what we're
00:18:21
thinking I hope you guys enjoyed getting
00:18:23
to see this walkthrough I heard a couple
00:18:26
of you guys and comments say that you're
00:18:28
only working on your budget as you're
00:18:31
like watching my budget video so
00:18:33
hopefully during this time you were able
00:18:35
to set up your July budget with me
00:18:37
and again I will try really hard in
00:18:39
August to kind of sit down and walk
00:18:42
through the whole process with you guys
00:18:43
so anyway thank you guys so much for
00:18:45
watching I hope you guys enjoyed getting
00:18:47
to see this budget walkthrough and I
00:18:50
will see you guys next time bye guys
