00:00:00
I have a very simple five-step process
00:00:02
for the ultimate 2025 wardrobe
00:00:08
[Music]
00:00:12
reset well hello there my loves and
00:00:15
welcome back to my channel if you are
00:00:17
new here my name is Kira and I share
00:00:19
videos on shopping for the best Basics
00:00:21
on the High Street how to build a
00:00:22
capsule wardrobe and lots of other good
00:00:24
stuff so if that sounds good to you then
00:00:26
do hit subscribe because I would love to
00:00:27
have you back for more videos as is
00:00:29
tradition my first video back of the new
00:00:32
year is always one about resetting your
00:00:35
wardrobe it is the time of year where I
00:00:37
feel like most of us feel a little bit
00:00:39
sick and tired of our wardrobes it's
00:00:41
where we might feel like we want a bit
00:00:43
of a reset or refresh of our style
00:00:45
before you go out and buy something new
00:00:48
that you think is going to complete your
00:00:49
wardrobe or make you more stylish by
00:00:52
finding that one trendy item that you
00:00:54
feel like you're missing the actual key
00:00:57
to Great personal style is sitting in
00:01:00
your wardrobe right now just waiting to
00:01:02
be worn and that's what this video is
00:01:04
all about it's actually about how to
00:01:06
look at your own wardrobe and actually
00:01:09
pull out all of those amazing outfits
00:01:11
that are just sitting there waiting to
00:01:13
be worn although you might be tempted to
00:01:14
immediately go through your wardrobe
00:01:16
start clearing things out wait watch
00:01:19
this video and you will be so much
00:01:21
clearer I have a very simple fstep
00:01:24
process and I promise by the end of this
00:01:26
video you will feel so much clearer
00:01:28
about how to refresh and revamp your
00:01:31
style for 2025 these steps are going to
00:01:33
help you maximize your own existing
00:01:35
wardrobe and help develop your own
00:01:38
personal style so let's get started step
00:01:40
number one is to get clear on your
00:01:43
personal style and this is where you can
00:01:45
either in your head or on paper make a
00:01:48
list of what you need from your wardrobe
00:01:50
you're going to look at things like your
00:01:52
lifestyle your day today schedule the
00:01:55
country or climate that you live in and
00:01:57
basically where you're currently at with
00:02:00
what you need from your wardrobe for
00:02:01
example you might be someone who works
00:02:03
from home and you might want some cozy
00:02:06
comfortable outfits but you still want
00:02:07
to look smart for your Zoom meetings
00:02:10
might be someone who is working in a
00:02:11
corporate setting who commutes every day
00:02:13
and who is giving formal presentations
00:02:16
every week and because of that your
00:02:18
wardrobe needs to be practical
00:02:20
functional but also very smart and
00:02:23
formal in a sense so really look at what
00:02:26
do you need from your wardrobe so for me
00:02:28
I predominantly work from home I'm often
00:02:30
sat in front of my computer editing or
00:02:32
doing calls I love to be comfortable and
00:02:35
cozy when I'm at home especially in the
00:02:37
winter time but I also really like to
00:02:39
dress up and I attend different work
00:02:42
events or press events and I love
00:02:44
dressing up so while some of my wardrobe
00:02:47
is really comfortable cozy casual and
00:02:50
practical some of my wardrobe is also a
00:02:52
lot more dressy and I like having a lot
00:02:54
of fun accessories and pieces that I can
00:02:57
mix and match for my dressier wardrobe
00:02:59
so so when you have nailed down what you
00:03:01
need for your wardrobe now it is time to
00:03:04
make a Pinterest board and if you've
00:03:07
never done this before it is so simple
00:03:09
Pinterest is free to use and you can
00:03:11
also make private boards so no one else
00:03:13
will see them and this Pinterest board
00:03:15
is going to be your Holy Grail your
00:03:18
Bible for your personal style now this
00:03:20
Pinterest board does need to be
00:03:22
practical in the sense that it needs to
00:03:24
reflect what you need from your wardrobe
00:03:26
but it can also be aspirational so it
00:03:29
can be out or styles that you just
00:03:31
really really like and want to emulate
00:03:34
what you're going to find through this
00:03:35
Pinterest exercise is that you're going
00:03:37
to see common themes come up you might
00:03:39
find that a lot of the images that
00:03:41
you're drawn to are of a type of style
00:03:44
that might be very feminine and floaty
00:03:47
and girly for example you might be
00:03:48
pinning a lot of beautiful dresses and
00:03:51
very floaty outfits or you might find
00:03:53
you might be pinning a lot of outfits
00:03:55
that include really sharp tailoring
00:03:57
trouser suits Blazers you know there are
00:04:00
so many different types of Aesthetics
00:04:02
and styles that people can enjoy and you
00:04:04
can absolutely weave between them but
00:04:07
what you will find is a common theme and
00:04:09
that is when you start to find the
00:04:11
personal style that you kind of resonate
00:04:14
with the most it doesn't necessarily
00:04:15
have to be your personal style right now
00:04:18
but it can definitely be something that
00:04:19
you can work towards I also highly
00:04:22
recommend making a second Pinterest
00:04:24
board for styling ideas for items that
00:04:27
you currently have in your wardrobe for
00:04:29
example example you have a pair of
00:04:31
tailored trousers and you find yourself
00:04:33
struggling to style them then you can go
00:04:35
on to Pinterest and look up there are so
00:04:37
many reference images for outfits with
00:04:40
let's say a pair of cream tailored
00:04:41
trousers you can go ahead and make a
00:04:44
Pinterest board with styling ideas so
00:04:46
that you have a reference ready to go
00:04:49
for when you're getting dressed I think
00:04:50
we often can think that people with
00:04:52
great Style just get struck by divine
00:04:55
inspiration when they're getting dressed
00:04:56
but actually a lot of these people are
00:04:59
you know Gathering reference material or
00:05:01
either they're doing it without noticing
00:05:03
that they are building up this resource
00:05:05
of ideas that they can have ready to go
00:05:08
when they're getting dressed now that
00:05:09
you've gotten clear on your vision for
00:05:12
your desired personal style and again
00:05:14
this can be more aspirational it doesn't
00:05:16
have to be super realistic to where you
00:05:18
are now of course you have to look at
00:05:20
your day-to-day needs but you can have
00:05:22
fun with your Pinterest board don't be
00:05:24
afraid to you know get creative with it
00:05:27
so step number two you go through
00:05:29
through your existing wardrobe with
00:05:31
fresh eyes and this is where you really
00:05:33
have to comb through everything this
00:05:37
definitely takes a bit of time you have
00:05:38
to roll up your sleeves but really if
00:05:41
you don't know what's in your wardrobe
00:05:43
and if there are corners of your
00:05:44
wardrobe that you haven't looked in in
00:05:46
months or even years then it is high
00:05:49
time how are you supposed to know how to
00:05:52
wear the pieces in your wardrobe if you
00:05:54
don't go through it regularly to really
00:05:56
see and take stock of what you need what
00:05:59
what you don't need what's working and
00:06:01
what currently isn't working I am
00:06:02
telling you there is so much potential
00:06:05
sitting in your wardrobe right now you
00:06:08
could not buy anything for the next few
00:06:11
months and just work on styling and
00:06:13
restyling what is in your current
00:06:15
wardrobe and you will find so many new
00:06:18
outfits that you never thought possible
00:06:20
I am someone who also falls victim to
00:06:22
this I can want something new but
00:06:24
actually that item or something very
00:06:26
very very similar to it is already
00:06:28
sitting in my wardrobe looking at me and
00:06:30
it's something that I think we all and I
00:06:32
know as a fashion content creator I
00:06:35
really do try to look at what I already
00:06:38
have before I buy something new I know
00:06:40
you're going to hate to hear this but I
00:06:42
highly recommend trying everything on it
00:06:45
does take a lot of time but again it's
00:06:47
really important to actually put things
00:06:49
on to figure out if they're still
00:06:51
working for you or not when it comes to
00:06:52
things like occasion wear these pieces
00:06:55
you don't need to wear them all the time
00:06:57
of course because they are going to be
00:06:58
dressier or so don't worry too much
00:07:00
about your occasion wear but what I'm
00:07:02
really looking at is your everyday
00:07:04
pieces your Basics your jeans your
00:07:06
Blazers your trousers your jumpers I
00:07:08
want you to try them all on and see if
00:07:10
they're working for you now if you're
00:07:12
trying everything on and you're thinking
00:07:13
I hate everything I have been there
00:07:15
before but do not get rid of everything
00:07:18
in your wardrobe I do not recommend that
00:07:19
you do that what you should do is look
00:07:22
at where the gaps in your wardrobe are
00:07:25
so let's say for example you might find
00:07:27
that you have lots of Blazers and
00:07:29
tailored trousers and kind of formal
00:07:31
pieces let's say for your work but you
00:07:33
might find that you don't have a lot of
00:07:34
casual pieces you don't have nice jeans
00:07:37
and cozy jumpers that you can wear on
00:07:39
the weekend or you might find that your
00:07:40
wardrobe has a lot of casual wear but
00:07:43
you're struggling to find pieces when
00:07:45
you want to dress up a little bit more
00:07:46
but when you're going through your
00:07:48
wardrobe with a fine tooth comb this is
00:07:50
where you will start to put outfits
00:07:52
together you have your Pinterest board
00:07:54
for your reference and that's going to
00:07:56
really really help you with ideas so
00:07:59
while you're going through your wardrobe
00:08:00
you might find an item and think God I
00:08:02
haven't worn this in ages how would I
00:08:04
style this you go over to Pinterest
00:08:06
either look at your board or type in how
00:08:08
to style black waste coat how to style
00:08:11
Cream Blazer and then boom you have
00:08:13
loads of ideas so what you're going to
00:08:14
do now is start putting outfits together
00:08:18
and taking photos of them and I know
00:08:19
this might sound strange but really you
00:08:21
are making your own catalog of outfits
00:08:24
you might think that you will remember
00:08:25
what the outfits are and I have done
00:08:27
this but honestly you will forget
00:08:29
guarantee you by doing even these first
00:08:32
two steps you are going to find new
00:08:34
outfits in your wardrobe that were not
00:08:36
there before and it is going to stop you
00:08:39
from buying new pieces that you didn't
00:08:40
actually need and this my friends is how
00:08:43
you actually build your personal style
00:08:46
and it is really about styling and
00:08:48
restyling things that I think creates
00:08:51
true personal style I always say that I
00:08:54
do think that repetition is elegance and
00:08:57
when I see people whose personal style I
00:08:59
really admire they often have signature
00:09:01
pieces that they repeat in their outfits
00:09:03
whether it's a really cool vintage belt
00:09:06
or like a leather jacket that they've
00:09:08
had for years it's often these pieces
00:09:10
that they restyle that makes it just
00:09:13
gives this extra flavor to their
00:09:15
personal style and often times when we
00:09:17
look at people who have great personal
00:09:19
style some of the pieces in their
00:09:21
wardrobe or the pieces that they wear
00:09:23
regularly are older pieces they're items
00:09:26
that they've had for years things like a
00:09:28
leather belt leather jacket a pair of
00:09:30
shoes or loafers that you can tell that
00:09:33
person has worn time and time again so
00:09:35
now that you've done your first two
00:09:36
steps you've created your Pinterest
00:09:38
board you've gotten clear in your vision
00:09:40
and you've now gone through your
00:09:41
wardrobe with a fine tooth comb now is
00:09:44
where you can actually start to do the
00:09:46
clear out you want to take your time
00:09:47
with this you don't want to get rid of
00:09:49
things willy-nilly but you do want to
00:09:52
look at what no longer serves you as
00:09:54
time goes on every year or every season
00:09:56
you will find that there are pieces that
00:09:58
you might no longer be wearing maybe
00:10:00
they just need to be repaired or in
00:10:02
certain cases if it's a basic t-shirt
00:10:04
that's just maybe been overwashed like
00:10:07
you will eventually need to kind of
00:10:09
clear things out but you also will be
00:10:11
able to look at where the gaps in your
00:10:14
wardrobe are for me a huge turning point
00:10:17
was when I started to focus on my Basics
00:10:19
and I noticed that it was the pieces
00:10:21
that were actually kind of the quietest
00:10:23
and most subtle that actually were the
00:10:25
building blocks of my favorite outfits
00:10:27
and the building blocks of my wardrobe
00:10:29
wardrobe if you're new to this channel I
00:10:30
talk so much about Basics and building a
00:10:33
capsule wardrobe because it is honestly
00:10:36
the best thing you can do to build that
00:10:38
solid core Foundation of pieces things
00:10:41
like basic t-shirts that fit well that
00:10:43
wash well a great pair of tailored
00:10:45
trousers a classic pair of loafers a
00:10:49
great Blazer that you can style hundreds
00:10:52
of ways when you focus on those Basics
00:10:54
they really give you so much back in
00:10:56
terms of value so now that you've done
00:10:58
your clear out and you have the pieces
00:10:59
that you're happy to let go of you can
00:11:02
donate them there are so many places
00:11:03
that are happy to accept donations you
00:11:05
can also swap them with friends it's
00:11:07
something that I love to do where myself
00:11:09
and my friends will swap clothing I'll
00:11:10
give things to my family my sisters my
00:11:12
friends but you can also sell items as
00:11:14
well there are so many amazing platforms
00:11:17
things like deop uh Vinted has just
00:11:20
launched here in Ireland I know it's
00:11:21
huge in the UK as well it's a great way
00:11:23
of passing on things in your wardrobe
00:11:25
that no longer worked for you or let's
00:11:27
say a piece that you may have bought for
00:11:29
an occasion and you wanted to go off and
00:11:31
have a second life with someone new I
00:11:33
highly recommend doing this because it
00:11:35
also gives you those extra funds that
00:11:37
you can then repurpose into your
00:11:39
wardrobe while doing this clear out you
00:11:41
may have a pile of pieces that you're
00:11:44
unsure about and this is your maybe pile
00:11:46
so it might be pieces that you really
00:11:48
like in theory but you're struggling to
00:11:49
style or you're just a little bit unsure
00:11:51
about so don't get rid of those for now
00:11:53
and we're going to come back to those
00:11:54
later step four is definitely a fun one
00:11:56
and it is where you make a wish list of
00:11:59
items this is supposed to be realistic
00:12:01
it really is supposed to reflect the
00:12:03
gaps in your wardrobe so maybe for
00:12:05
example you are missing more basic
00:12:07
everyday pieces maybe you don't have a
00:12:10
pair of jeans that you love maybe you
00:12:12
need a good quality Blazer or maybe you
00:12:14
are missing clothes that are a little
00:12:16
bit dressier maybe you need something
00:12:18
that you can restyle for your date
00:12:19
nights or your drinks with the girls but
00:12:21
really make a cohesive list and it
00:12:23
doesn't have to be that long of the
00:12:25
pieces that your wardrobe is missing and
00:12:28
this is where the magic happens when you
00:12:30
have this clear list in mind of where
00:12:33
the gaps are in your wardrobe then when
00:12:35
you get bombarded by inspiration which
00:12:37
we all do of the new in items of the new
00:12:40
trends and I love talking about Trends I
00:12:42
love shopping them you know I I work in
00:12:45
fashion I love clothing so much but when
00:12:48
it comes to spending my money I do
00:12:50
really try to be strategic so what I try
00:12:53
to do is looking at my Basics and the
00:12:55
things that my wardrobe needs those are
00:12:57
the things that I will invest more in
00:12:59
because they're inevitably going to get
00:13:01
worn more so things like a good quality
00:13:04
coat shoes handbags that I wear all the
00:13:07
time these are the things that I will
00:13:09
spend a little bit more on and then the
00:13:11
trendier items I'm more likely to let's
00:13:14
say pick up on the High Street or maybe
00:13:17
not invest as much in every year I will
00:13:20
round up my most worn pieces of that
00:13:22
year and that was actually my last video
00:13:24
if you didn't catch that I will link it
00:13:25
below and it was looking at my top 10
00:13:27
most worn items of the whole whole year
00:13:29
I did this the previous year as well and
00:13:31
it's really interesting to see the items
00:13:33
that actually gave you the most cost per
00:13:35
wear it really helps when you're
00:13:38
justifying investing in better quality
00:13:40
fabrics and better quality products
00:13:42
because you will get to wear them so
00:13:44
much more and they will last so much
00:13:46
better in your wardrobe it is often the
00:13:48
basics in our wardrobe that we neglect
00:13:50
because they are a little bit more
00:13:52
boring you know like we're not going to
00:13:53
be as excited by seeing a plain T-shirt
00:13:56
as we are by seeing the beautiful sequin
00:13:58
Blazer if you neglect your Basics your
00:13:59
wardrobe will always be out of sync and
00:14:02
your Basics I always say this but they
00:14:04
honestly make the outfit so step number
00:14:07
five is to get out there and style those
00:14:10
items and this is where you're going to
00:14:11
look at your maybe pile so the pieces
00:14:13
that you were unsure about challenge
00:14:15
yourself to wear that Blazer or those
00:14:17
trousers for a whole week styling it in
00:14:20
different ways or challenge yourself to
00:14:22
put together let's say five or six
00:14:24
outfits with it in one go and if you
00:14:26
really really struggle to do that and if
00:14:28
you find you're just it's just not
00:14:29
working then it can be easier for you to
00:14:31
let it go but actually you might find
00:14:33
that you love a piece but you just don't
00:14:36
know exactly how to style it yet and
00:14:38
that's where you're going to use your
00:14:39
Pinterest board to build that
00:14:41
inspiration the key is to get dressed
00:14:44
every day and obviously we all get
00:14:46
dressed every day but I mean by really
00:14:48
thinking about your outfits and how you
00:14:49
can style things differently and having
00:14:51
fun with it and experimenting a little
00:14:53
bit and you know taking a few risks here
00:14:55
and there it's it's all part of flexing
00:14:58
those style muscles and building great
00:15:01
personal style so guys if you take
00:15:02
anything away from this video it is to
00:15:05
just have fun getting dressed and look
00:15:07
at styling what you already have that is
00:15:09
how you're going to figure out what you
00:15:11
need what you can invest in and it is
00:15:14
just the best way that you can approach
00:15:16
resetting your personal style I would
00:15:18
also invite you to maybe take on let's
00:15:20
say a no buy challenge a lot of people
00:15:23
do this in let's say January or February
00:15:25
where they put a pause on adding
00:15:27
anything new to their wardrobe and they
00:15:29
instead focus on solely restyling what
00:15:31
they have and another tip I would give
00:15:33
is that when you are looking through
00:15:35
your wish list and you're shopping for
00:15:36
these items that you're missing look on
00:15:39
secondhand sites like vintage depop
00:15:42
vestier Collective if you're looking for
00:15:44
something that's designer or vintage
00:15:46
places like eBay you know going into
00:15:48
your local secondhand or vintage shops
00:15:51
you can find some absolute gems often
00:15:55
times when you see people with these
00:15:56
really cool unique one-off pieces
00:15:59
so much of the time they're vintage and
00:16:01
really you can find the most amazing
00:16:04
things so definitely definitely have a
00:16:05
look so there you have it guys that was
00:16:07
my five steps to a successful wardrobe
00:16:10
reset for 2025 please do let me know in
