00:00:03
Imagine, for a moment, you're in an ocean, travelling in a boat.
00:00:08
You're travelling in a boat, alright?
00:00:10
Suddenly, you hear a scream
00:00:13
When you turn around to look, you see two people in the ocean
00:00:17
They're swimming and signal towards you to help
00:00:21
You turn your boat towards them
00:00:24
They scream and tell you to save them as their boat had capsized
00:00:27
Take us back to our homes!
00:00:30
You turn around and look at your boat and wonder if there is space to save both of them
00:00:34
And you realize that there is enough space for at least 5 people, so it would be easy to save both of them
00:00:41
So what will you do?
00:00:43
Obviously, you are going to save them both. It makes no sense to not save them
00:00:47
But if I tell you that one out of the two people is a Hindu and the other is a Muslim
00:00:53
Would you still save them both?
00:00:56
I feel like majority of you would say that you would obviously still save them both
00:01:00
When there is space to save them both, why look at faith?
00:01:04
Two people are dying, (they're) drowning. And the matter is about rescuing them. So you'd take both of them in
00:01:09
But what if I tell you
00:01:12
You, who's rowing the boat, decides to save only the Hindu person because you yourself are a Hindu
00:01:18
And leave the Muslim stranded
00:01:20
You tell the Muslim to wait
00:01:24
Actually, the ocean is very vast
00:01:27
There'd be atleast 50-60 boats like these in the ocean that are being rowed by a Muslim
00:01:32
So, they'd come and save you. I will not save you.
00:01:35
He is going to look at you and ask you the logic behind this
00:01:38
Save me when you have the opportunity. How long should I wait for and whom should I wait for?
00:01:43
Is faith really a matter to be considered here?
00:01:46
The metaphor that I just told you summarizes the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019
00:01:52
which was recently passed in the Lok Sabha
00:01:54
This bill states that if any person is from the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain or Parsi or Christian community,
00:02:00
who has come from Afghanistan, Pakistan or Bangladesh on or before December 31st, 2014
00:02:07
and is resident in India today
00:02:08
They would no longer remain illegal immigrants, they would now be granted citizenship
00:02:12
In order to justify this, Amit Shah says that
00:02:14
this bill basically protects the persecuted minorities of these countries
00:02:18
Because all these faiths mentioned in the bill
00:02:21
these are basically the faiths that are attacked a lot,
00:02:25
and are discriminated against in these three countries- Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh
00:02:30
Therefore, we are providing them an escape route through this bill
00:02:33
We are inviting them to India and providing them security and a better future
00:02:37
It might seem logical to hear, in a sense, because
00:02:40
There have been cases in Bangladesh where Hindus or other minorities have been attacked
00:02:46
But this argument quickly loses merit
00:02:48
when you see that there are many more persecuted minorities in these three countries
00:02:52
which need help, which are facing discrimination and which are not mentioned in this bill
00:02:58
for example, Ahmedis and Shias in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh
00:03:02
They are generally referred to as Muslims,so to speak,
00:03:04
but the other Muslims in Pakistan don't consider these sects and communities as Muslims
00:03:10
So they have to face a lot of discrimination
00:03:12
Atheists also have to face a lot of discrimination in Islamic countries
00:03:16
There are attacks and hate crimes against them
00:03:19
But there are no provisions for these persecuted minorities in this bill
00:03:24
So this bill is selectively protecting some minorities and communities
00:03:28
and it is ignoring some
00:03:31
In order to counter this, a lot of people say that there are more than 50 Islamic countries in this world
00:03:36
If the Shias and Ahmedis are facing any discrimination,
00:03:39
so they should go to one of these more than 50 Islamic countries- that's not our problem
00:03:43
Because since they are Muslim and if there is a discrimination amongst them,
00:03:47
then there a lot of Islamic countries to invite them
00:03:50
But this logic is the same as the boat logic that I gave you
00:03:54
that two people are drowning in the ocean
00:03:56
but you leave the Muslim stranded saying that there are other boats out there, they might come to save you
00:04:02
We don't want to meddle in this. We just want to save our Hindu (companion) and leave
00:04:06
There are a lot of problems in this logic
00:04:08
First: What about the atheists? The ones who do not comply with any faith, where would they go?
00:04:13
Secondly, if we start discriminating amongst people taking religion into consideration
00:04:17
then India cannot be called a secular country
00:04:20
And if this happens, then the international reputation of India is going to fall and get ruined
00:04:25
India's international reputation is going to fall down to the level of Pakistan
00:04:28
that is, the country that defines itself on the basis of religion
00:04:33
Look, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
00:04:36
Now some people here would say that we want such a state! We want India to become a Hindu Rashtra
00:04:41
All I would like to say to such people, is have you looked at the condition of these countries?
00:04:44
All the countries across the world that define themselves on the basis of religion
00:04:48
that, for them, religion is at the top in the Constitution
00:04:51
What is the condition of such countries?
00:04:53
They are the lowest ranked countries in terms of development
00:04:56
Look at all the top most developed countries across the world
00:04:59
(for example) the European countries, USA, Japan, Australia, Singapore- all of these countries are secular
00:05:05
And then look at the lowest ranked countries of the world- where a lot of fights ensue
00:05:09
(they are ) the most under developed countries
00:05:11
There are faith related fights for sure there
00:05:14
See for yourself, if you want to make a nation on the tenets of a religion,
00:05:17
then our country too, would stoop to those levels and become like them
00:05:20
but if you want your country to scale heights, then we need to remain secular
00:05:23
And it is not me saying this, this was known to our freedom fighters too.
00:05:27
Look at all the real freedom fighters of our country
00:05:29
Subash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Shaheed Bhagat Singh
00:05:32
Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi- not even one of them wanted India to become a Hindu Rashtra
00:05:37
All of them were secular
00:05:39
They wanted to give equal treatment to the Hindus and the Muslims
00:05:42
On the other hand, who were the people who wanted a partition of the country
00:05:45
into a Muslim Pakistan and a Hindu India?
00:05:48
On one hand there was the Muslim League which included Jinnah
00:05:51
and on the other hand was the Hindu Mahasabha that wanted a Hindu Rashtra,
00:05:53
which included people like Godse and Savarkar
00:05:56
So if you support the Citizenship Amendment Bill, then you are basically supporting the two nation theory
00:06:02
which was suggested by Jinnah
00:06:03
that Hindus and Muslims cannot live together and they need to be given a separate state
00:06:07
The two nation theory that was rejected by almost every Indian freedom fighter
00:06:12
They did not accept it as a theory and believed that they could indeed live together and prove it
00:06:16
On the other hand, there are protests on a massive scale in Assam, Tripura and other north eastern states
00:06:21
against this bill
00:06:22
Protesters claim that this bill basically encourages illegal immigration
00:06:27
It promotes illegal immigration
00:06:28
Because if you start distributing citizenship like this today,
00:06:31
Then tomorrow, people would cross borders and come in larger numbers
00:06:34
They'd see that they are being granted citizenship for free, let us also take it
00:06:37
What this would basically do is put more stress on the country's resources
00:06:41
especially the north eastern states that have already been under so much stress historically
00:06:45
When Bangladesh got independent, there was a huge influx of refugees into these north eastern states
00:06:50
and it had been extremely difficult to accommodate them
00:06:52
because when people come in, in such huge numbers then it is very difficult to look after them
00:06:56
Especially when the country is unable to look after its own citizens properly
00:06:59
The poverty and unemployment of its own citizens in this country has been rising
00:07:03
People do not have jobs and the economy has crashed
00:07:06
What are we going to do by calling them here?
00:07:08
You come! You come too! Let us all fry fritters together!
00:07:12
What else is left to do?
00:07:14
In wake of the rising protests in Assam and the rest of the north eastern states,
00:07:17
the government has shut down the internet in a slot of places
00:07:20
Curfew has been imposed
00:07:22
News has been trickling in that a lot of the army is being moved from Kashmir to Assam
00:07:26
in order to control the people
00:07:28
Such "good" days are being witnesses- people's voices are being stifled
00:07:32
and the Indian Army, which should be used to protect us against foreign intruders and terrorists,
00:07:39
The Indian Army is being used against its own citizens in different places
00:07:43
Furthermore, this bill is a huge threat to our national security
00:07:45
Our intelligence agency, RAW had expressed the same concerns
00:07:48
Since illegal immigration would become easier due to this bill,
00:07:52
anyone could just request for citizenship by producing an affidavit, declaring he is a Hindu
00:07:57
and he would be granted citizenship very easily
00:07:59
What this would do is enable infiltrators and terrorists to get inside the country very easily
00:08:03
by pretending to be Hindu and this could pose a huge threat to the country
00:08:08
Not only is this bill against the founding principles of our country, it is also a threat for the north eastern states
00:08:12
and it could also become a huge threat for the national security
00:08:16
So now you'd ask why is the government so determined to bring in this bill when it is so terrible?
00:08:21
Whatever superficial reasons they have provided to bring in the bill
00:08:24
I have already countered all of them in this video
00:08:27
What could be the real reason behind this?
00:08:29
Now I would like to tell you what, in my opinion, is the real reason behind bringing in this bill
00:08:34
Listen carefully, this is my opinion
00:08:36
Some people get irked upon hearing my opinions
00:08:39
So I'd like to tell them that they can close the video here- they may leave
00:08:43
But now I am going to tell you what my opinion is
00:08:49
In my opinion, the real reason behind this bill is that the BJP wants to hit multiple targets with a single arrow
00:08:56
Their first target is to distract the people from the real issues by bringing in this bill
00:09:01
for example, economy, GDP growth rate, unemployment
00:09:05
A distraction needs to be created to prevent the attention of people from being attracted to these issues
00:09:10
All the Hindu Muslim issues had been closed when the Supreme court had pronounced the verdict on the Ram Mandir
00:09:14
We could have put a "the end" to the Hindu Muslim issues
00:09:16
But the BJP thought that if this happens, then the people's attention would move to these real issues
00:09:21
We need to raise another Hindu- Muslim issue in order to distract the people
00:09:25
So let us table a bill in which we'd intentionally put in Hindu Muslim and differentiate amongst them
00:09:31
We are going to play divide and rule so that the people get flared up, start debating
00:09:35
the people start fighting and the people get distracted
00:09:38
Instead of mentioning the faiths one by one, it could have easily said "persecuted minorities" in this bill
00:09:45
With that one minor change, half of the country would not have had a problem with this bill
00:09:49
But they did not do that. They deliberately, intentionally, mentioned the names of the faiths
00:09:53
so that a divide is created amongst people
00:09:56
Their second target is communalizing the people- divide the Hindus and Muslims
00:10:02
You do remember the divide and rule policy, right? It has been ongoing since the time of the British
00:10:05
If you pit the people against one another over something, then you can easily rule over them
00:10:11
The third target is that BJP is trying to create a vote bank of refugees and illegal immigrants
00:10:16
by providing them with citizenship, they'd be granted a voter id card
00:10:19
and then they'd tell them look we granted you all of this including citizenship , now vote for us
00:10:23
More people would cross borders, all of them would be granted citizenship
00:10:26
all of them would vote for the BJP-
00:10:27
because they're getting more opportunities to cross the border and getting citizenship
00:10:31
Actually, at one time, the BJP used to accuse Mamta Bannerjee for the same reason
00:10:36
That Mamta Bannerjee calls in the Bangladeshis, distributes voter id cards to them
00:10:40
so that they vote for her party
00:10:42
and today the BJP is doing the same thing that the Mamta Bannerjee was accused of
00:10:46
The fourth target is by combining the nationwide NRC with the citizenship bill
00:10:51
they want to create such a dangerous weapon
00:10:53
with which they can give citizenship to whomsoever they want and deny it to whomsoever they want
00:10:57
They want to divide and rule on such a huge scale
00:11:00
In my opinion, you can call it partition 2.0
00:11:03
They are trying to partition the country again
00:11:06
So that in order to cover up their mistakes and put the blame on someone else
00:11:09
I would analyze what the nationwide consequences of NRC would be in a future video
00:11:15
That's all for today
