00:00:00
hi welcome to home farm today i'm going
00:00:03
to be looking at some pruners and
00:00:04
loppers from falco
00:00:17
[Music]
00:00:22
and since we've moved into this property
00:00:24
we have really had to roll up our
00:00:26
sleeves and get stuck into some pretty
00:00:28
serious major gardening
00:00:30
that neither of us have ever tackled
00:00:31
before so we are definitely on a journey
00:00:34
and we've got an awful lot to learn so
00:00:36
we are now starting to
00:00:38
learn about different tools different
00:00:40
equipment
00:00:41
power tools and also starting to get
00:00:44
exposed to new brands that we've never
00:00:45
even heard of
00:00:46
one of the first things that i did was i
00:00:49
started to follow
00:00:50
um some expert gardeners through social
00:00:53
media so on instagram and especially on
00:00:56
youtube i love watching gardening videos
00:00:58
on youtube i have learnt
00:01:00
so much and i found them so helpful and
00:01:02
one of the people that i have followed
00:01:04
the most
00:01:05
is laura at garden answer one of the
00:01:07
things that they
00:01:08
introduced me to was a brand called
00:01:10
falco
00:01:11
and the one thing i have noticed is she
00:01:14
is absolutely
00:01:15
100 loyal to her falco for her pruners
00:01:19
and i've been fascinated by this i've
00:01:20
never heard of falco i've never seen the
00:01:22
brand before
00:01:23
so i was really intrigued by okay who
00:01:25
are falco what do they do
00:01:27
and why are these pruners so amazing but
00:01:29
the one that laura
00:01:31
had recommended on her channel was these
00:01:33
ones which are the falco
00:01:34
2s she just said that they are the best
00:01:38
all-around pruners they just can tackle
00:01:40
a multitude of things in the garden and
00:01:42
she said if you're going to invest in a
00:01:43
pair of pruners
00:01:44
you know start with the fel coat twos
00:01:46
because that will see you through for a
00:01:47
huge variety of different jobs in the
00:01:49
garden
00:01:49
so i've managed to get a pair of these
00:01:51
gel coat twos and as i said i've never
00:01:52
used them before i haven't even
00:01:54
opened this pack so i'm really really
00:01:55
keen and excited to open the pack
00:01:57
it feels quite weighty um already so um
00:02:00
that's a good sign it definitely feels
00:02:01
like it's going to be
00:02:02
durable and also we've got here is a
00:02:05
falco
00:02:06
21160 the 60 stands for 60 centimeters
00:02:09
that's the length of the handle
00:02:11
and then the 211 is just the code for
00:02:13
the actual product
00:02:14
and they also have some weight to them
00:02:16
but they're very comfortable
00:02:18
already i can feel that this handle and
00:02:21
it's going to be
00:02:22
really comfortable and have a nice grip
00:02:24
to it so
00:02:25
very excited to try these out it's
00:02:27
better i can actually see you now
00:02:29
there is no plastic parts on here
00:02:30
everything is metal
00:02:32
and it feels really durable and then you
00:02:35
just obviously
00:02:36
you know kind of click that open i can
00:02:39
hear how sharp they are
00:02:41
so they sound fantastic um also to
00:02:44
mention which i think would be quite
00:02:45
easy to miss actually is that there is a
00:02:47
little
00:02:47
um divot here in the
00:02:51
in the blade itself i'll just zoom in so
00:02:53
you can see that
00:02:56
just there that is actually a wire
00:02:58
cutter
00:02:59
and it's clever they've really thought
00:03:01
about things and how to use it
00:03:03
feels very comfortable and i have to say
00:03:05
they definitely feel like a
00:03:08
pretty serious pair of pruners and
00:03:09
suckatures and it says on the pack
00:03:11
world leading manufacturer of
00:03:12
professional pruners and cable cutters
00:03:15
since 1945.
00:03:16
that pretty much sums up the falco 2 so
00:03:18
we'll give them a go now
00:03:20
one last thing to say is that this is
00:03:22
for a one inch
00:03:24
cut i'm excited to use them they feel
00:03:26
really lovely
00:03:42
they feel so comfortable in the hand
00:03:46
they feel um it's really interesting
00:03:48
because they feel really heavy on the
00:03:49
top here
00:03:51
but the weight distribution is really
00:03:53
clever because in my hand and this
00:03:55
portion
00:03:55
where all my strain and efforts going
00:03:57
feels so light i can't tell you it's
00:04:00
really i've i don't think i've ever
00:04:02
experienced
00:04:04
a sucker to a pruner like it so
00:04:07
you can just see the amount of
00:04:11
research and development that's gone
00:04:12
into
00:04:14
making sure that they're durable
00:04:17
and feel like they've got some weight
00:04:20
and quality in them
00:04:21
but are not going to put additional
00:04:24
pressure and strain on the wrist
00:04:28
so we move on to these falco loppers
00:04:31
as i said these are the falco 21160s
00:04:34
um 60 is the 60 centimeter of the handle
00:04:38
i'm just going to try and take this
00:04:39
out of here also made
00:04:43
in switzerland i think all of their
00:04:45
products are made in switzerland so it
00:04:46
just goes without saying
00:04:47
and as you can see it's very clearly
00:04:50
printed on the
00:04:51
handle so very nice they've even got a
00:04:54
nice little
00:04:54
diagram there that shows you all the
00:04:56
spare parts
00:04:58
that you can purchase for this lopper
00:05:00
and the actual
00:05:01
number so when you contact or when you
00:05:03
go onto the website or you contact velco
00:05:05
you can actually say i need this number
00:05:08
for my spare part it says 40 more
00:05:11
cutting force
00:05:12
with the falco cutting technology and it
00:05:15
says that week this can handle basically
00:05:17
35 ml so three and a half centimeters or
00:05:20
one and a half
00:05:22
inches that should be good for um
00:05:24
branches
00:05:25
like these ones behind me when we go to
00:05:28
trim some of our little trees
00:05:30
i want to just shape them up these
00:05:32
should be great for that
00:05:33
okay so let's give these a go and see
00:05:37
we're not going to be hard pruning or
00:05:39
anything crazy like that today we're
00:05:41
just going to be taking a couple of
00:05:43
um branches ate a testament plate with
00:05:44
them and b just to
00:05:46
shape them we've got a low branch there
00:05:48
that's uh i'm casting
00:05:50
too much shade over my bulbs and
00:05:52
crocosmir so we'll take that
00:05:54
and then we'll just do a gentle light
00:05:57
[Music]
00:06:04
prune
00:06:06
[Music]
00:06:15
[Applause]
00:06:16
[Music]
00:06:17
so we'll put them to the test a few more
00:06:19
times before we give you our final
00:06:22
[Music]
00:06:32
thoughts
00:06:33
[Music]
00:06:48
so it's been about a week since we
00:06:50
started using our falco's and
00:06:52
um gotta say i'm really impressed uh
00:06:54
very very nice quality
00:06:55
and feel really durable really sturdy
00:06:58
definitely feel like they're gonna be
00:07:00
lasting me many many years
00:07:02
very comfortable here the molding here
00:07:04
and this rubber silicone handle is
00:07:06
really nice and comfortable
00:07:08
nice grip on it without getting hot and
00:07:10
sweaty
00:07:11
and just have found them a real joy to
00:07:14
use
00:07:14
and really nice and super sharp i
00:07:17
definitely think that the large
00:07:18
size is perfectly acceptable with
00:07:20
someone who has
00:07:22
you know small to medium or normal sized
00:07:24
hands for example
00:07:25
if it helps at all in marigolds or
00:07:28
you know washing up gloves i take a
00:07:30
medium
00:07:31
so a small is too tight for me so medium
00:07:34
large is a little bit on the loose side
00:07:36
but medium is really kind of my size so
00:07:38
these are
00:07:38
perfect i think if you have slightly
00:07:40
larger hands it's still perfect
00:07:42
and i think the small would be for
00:07:44
really petite hands
00:07:46
so that's maybe something to keep in
00:07:47
mind with regards to sizing
00:07:49
then we had the loppers which
00:07:52
have been are a completely different
00:07:55
ballpark altogether
00:07:56
obviously they are loppers and therefore
00:07:58
you know much harder
00:08:00
bigger pruning tasks and again really
00:08:03
comfortable
00:08:04
this is a this is not a shiny kind of a
00:08:07
slippy rubber this is more of a matte
00:08:08
silicone handle
00:08:10
and very comfortable i have to say um i
00:08:13
find that the length is really good on
00:08:14
this and the weight distribution like
00:08:16
when you're holding it like this you
00:08:17
don't feel like this
00:08:18
side is top heavy so you're not cut you
00:08:20
don't feel like that weight coming down
00:08:22
um so i've actually found them really
00:08:24
comfortable to use these
00:08:25
rubber balls here are very clever and
00:08:29
as shock absorbers so when you cut
00:08:30
through something heavy
00:08:32
you're not getting any feedback and the
00:08:33
vibrations are not coming down
00:08:35
into your wrist so i think that they are
00:08:36
very very good very comfortable and
00:08:38
again
00:08:39
just the same quality um as these
00:08:42
handheld pruners
00:08:43
everything has been all the attachments
00:08:46
and all these little
00:08:47
nuts and bolts are all really strong
00:08:50
durable metal
00:08:51
nothing feels flimsy and they definitely
00:08:54
feel like they're built to last
00:08:55
the biggest uh most gut-wrenching task
00:08:57
we had to do with the loppers was
00:08:59
earlier today when we cut this uh lovely
00:09:02
bush out unfortunately it's left this
00:09:04
huge hole here
00:09:06
i'm in quite a nice large dense amount
00:09:09
of bush
00:09:10
area um and unfortunately it just had so
00:09:13
much disease on the leaves
00:09:14
we had tried multiple different
00:09:16
applications
00:09:18
but nothing was working and in the end
00:09:20
we were advised to just cut it back
00:09:22
so that's what we've done so they did
00:09:24
the job and
00:09:25
they got all the debris and the dead
00:09:28
branches out really quickly and easily
00:09:30
the red is obviously coming from the
00:09:32
fact they're
00:09:32
made in switzerland and it's a swiss
00:09:34
brand but that is actually a really big
00:09:37
plus point for me because
00:09:38
i can be using them i could be pruning
00:09:41
something i get distracted phone rings
00:09:43
you drop them on the floor you go out
00:09:45
you come back and suddenly you can
00:09:47
immediately see them they are really
00:09:48
clearly
00:09:49
visible and i really like that some of
00:09:51
our other ones are black or
00:09:53
dark green and you can drop them you can
00:09:55
put them in something and
00:09:57
they can just disappear really quickly
00:10:00
very difficult to lose these when
00:10:01
they're this visible and i really like
00:10:03
that
00:10:04
after using these two velcros it's clear
00:10:06
to see this is a company who takes a
00:10:08
great deal of pride
00:10:09
in crafting tools for professional
00:10:11
gardeners
00:10:12
and it's certainly been an eye-opener i
00:10:14
have so enjoyed using these
00:10:17
and i was very pleased to see that on
00:10:18
their website along with the spare parts
00:10:20
that you can purchase
00:10:21
there is also a maintenance kit and i'm
00:10:23
definitely going to be looking at that
00:10:25
because i want to keep these in the best
00:10:26
possible condition for as long as
00:10:28
possible
00:10:29
previously we were suburban gardeners
00:10:31
and we had a little garden with a small
00:10:33
patch of lawn that we had to
00:10:35
mow and a little flower bed for trimming
00:10:37
and pruning
00:10:38
so we were purchasing products that were
00:10:40
low to mid price point and for us that
00:10:42
was very appropriate
00:10:43
for this kind of quantity of land and
00:10:46
these kind of jobs that we have to do in
00:10:48
this garden the demand on our tools is
00:10:50
far greater
00:10:51
so to be able to use a product like
00:10:53
falco's where we know that if
00:10:55
something breaks or if we need to
00:10:56
purchase a small spare part we can
00:10:58
really easily and to keep these tools
00:11:00
going without having to chuck the whole
00:11:02
thing away and for the whole thing to
00:11:03
end up on a landfill
00:11:05
makes this far more sustainable for us
00:11:07
if you're in the uk and you're using any
00:11:08
felco products please leave a comment
00:11:10
below and let us know which products
00:11:12
you're using
00:11:13
and what your experience so far has been
00:11:15
with the felco tools
00:11:16
i hope you found this video useful and
00:11:18
interesting
00:11:19
if you have please subscribe and ring
00:11:21
the bell and we hope to see you on our
00:11:23
next video
00:11:24
