00:00:00
Call of Duty has never been afraid of
00:00:02
controversy especially in their
00:00:03
campaigns one thing that comes to mind
00:00:05
right away is no Russian from the
00:00:06
original Modern Warfare 2 it was
00:00:08
controversial because well you were
00:00:10
doing some controversial things in that
00:00:12
mission however Black Ops 6 has been
00:00:14
weird for this because when I put out my
00:00:17
review for the game as a whole for the
00:00:19
whole Campaign which will be linked down
00:00:20
in the description and after the video
00:00:21
if you want to check that out but when I
00:00:22
put that out there was one piece of
00:00:25
feedback that I received on that video
00:00:26
that I did not expect you see in the
00:00:29
campaign there's this Miss called
00:00:30
emergence and it is this trippy
00:00:32
mindbending mission that is probably
00:00:34
narrative wise the most important for
00:00:37
the story out of any other mission in
00:00:39
the game I thought this was a pretty
00:00:41
decent Mission however with there being
00:00:43
zombies in this Mission and if you
00:00:45
didn't play the campaign no you didn't
00:00:46
hear me wrong there are zombies in this
00:00:48
Mission this Mission started to trct a
00:00:50
lot of hate and I wanted to take a look
00:00:53
a deeper look at this Mission and
00:00:54
discuss why and I don't think the answer
00:00:58
is what you are actually thinking so in
00:01:01
this video what I'm going to do is dive
00:01:02
through this specific Mission and if you
00:01:04
want to see me maybe do this more in the
00:01:05
future looking at other specific
00:01:07
missions and diving into why they're
00:01:09
great why they're horrible or other
00:01:10
things altogether show me by hitting
00:01:12
that like button on this video and maybe
00:01:13
we'll continue doing maybe a little
00:01:15
series like this but for this video
00:01:17
let's go ahead and answer the question
00:01:19
why is emergence in Black Ops 6 so oddly
00:01:24
hated s how's it going on your side
00:01:27
still looking for a way in the north
00:01:29
door's are totally sealed you case and I
00:01:32
are in South Gate utility entrance looks
00:01:35
like someone's been through here
00:01:36
recently who's the freight elevator
00:01:39
chains broken all right M so the mission
00:01:42
starts out with us in the Advanced
00:01:43
Technologies and applications division
00:01:45
inside a facility in Kentucky as we go
00:01:49
in case tries to go alongside Marshall
00:01:51
when the elevator below him breaks he
00:01:53
falls his gas mask breaks and he starts
00:01:56
to breathe in a mysterious gas we
00:01:59
eventually find out that this gas is
00:02:01
known as cradle which is one of the main
00:02:02
parts of Black Ops 6 and also this
00:02:06
Mission now I want to be clear this is
00:02:08
probably the most important mission to
00:02:11
the story of Black Ops 6 there is a lot
00:02:14
that is revealed in this mission number
00:02:17
one we find out that case the character
00:02:19
who we play as in the game aka William
00:02:22
Calderon is actually named case because
00:02:25
he was case
00:02:28
one it's for you
00:02:34
it's fantastic to see you again case one
00:02:36
how have you been feeling a friendly
00:02:39
reminder that most of the facility is
00:02:41
off limits to
00:02:42
patients I hope you
00:02:45
understand welcome back
00:02:48
case through this Mission we end up
00:02:50
finding out that case one or case was a
00:02:54
volunteer for this project known as
00:02:57
cradle cradle we find out was basically
00:03:00
a serum something that could be inhaled
00:03:03
which was meant to create super soldiers
00:03:06
and case volunteered to be one of these
00:03:09
super soldiers only a few know the
00:03:11
origins of the pantheon case they were a
00:03:14
CIA Branch unknown to even the other
00:03:17
Black Ops
00:03:18
divisions they developed the
00:03:20
Cradle a new generation of operatives
00:03:23
would be born of it now after they
00:03:25
started to test this out they realized
00:03:27
that there were some massive side
00:03:29
effects to the cradle and in so they
00:03:31
decided to no longer work on this
00:03:33
project but Pantheon separated outside
00:03:36
of the CIA and decided to pursue this
00:03:38
not for super soldiers but rather as a
00:03:41
biological
00:03:43
weapon they tried so hard to perfect the
00:03:46
cral case but the side effects couldn't
00:03:48
be
00:03:49
stopped as we know we were the first and
00:03:53
last trial
00:03:55
volunteer so it makers repurposed it
00:03:57
into a biological vcum
00:04:00
instead and this is where people start
00:04:03
to not like the mission because as it
00:04:06
turns out the cradle that is running
00:04:08
through case's veins and the cradle that
00:04:10
he is breathing in in this Mission makes
00:04:13
you really trip out and turn into a
00:04:15
really evil human being and that's when
00:04:18
things start to go wild the Cradle
00:04:20
project fail this case we were out of
00:04:23
control violent deniable and in our rage
00:04:28
we set Touch This facility contaminated
00:04:32
with the same poison that runs in our
00:04:34
veins
00:04:36
remember zombies there are zombies in
00:04:41
this Mission so the biggest complaint
00:04:43
that I've seen about this mission is
00:04:44
that there is zombies in it and I'm
00:04:45
going to address that in a minute but I
00:04:47
think there's a couple of other reasons
00:04:49
as well first of all this Mission does
00:04:50
not feel like a Call of Duty Mission
00:04:52
whatsoever if we compare this campaign
00:04:55
to something like a Modern Warfare game
00:04:57
Modern Warfare is very set in milit
00:04:59
istic combat whereas Black Ops is kind
00:05:02
of like this more spy Thriller
00:05:03
mindbending it is a very different thing
00:05:06
and personally I prefer the Black Ops
00:05:08
style story where you really have to
00:05:10
think about what is going on it's not
00:05:12
just militarized combat now you can like
00:05:15
what you like but to me this Mission as
00:05:18
a whole emergence doesn't really feel
00:05:20
like a Call of Duty game whatsoever when
00:05:22
I first played it I compared it to
00:05:24
Bioshock I've heard other people say
00:05:26
atomic heart other games along those
00:05:28
kind of styles and honestly it really
00:05:31
does feel like that and I think that's
00:05:33
okay because some of the most memorable
00:05:34
missions throughout Call of Duty are not
00:05:36
the ones that feel like Call of Duty
00:05:38
even going back all the way to all
00:05:40
ghillied up at the time that didn't feel
00:05:42
like a Call of Duty Mission and seeing
00:05:44
future games it felt more like a Sniper
00:05:46
Elite Mission or some sort of more
00:05:48
stealthy combat game didn't feel like
00:05:50
Call of Duty the Michael Bay games that
00:05:52
they have created whatsoever or moving
00:05:54
forward to Black Ops Cold War the KGB
00:05:56
Mission didn't feel like a Call of Duty
00:05:58
Mission whatsoever most the time you
00:06:00
found out you were sneaking around or
00:06:02
talking to other people or talking your
00:06:04
way out of getting into combat which
00:06:06
some of those missions are my favorite
00:06:08
missions of all time and emergence falls
00:06:11
under that umbrella for me I loved this
00:06:14
Mission when I see people talk about
00:06:16
this Mission I see one of two things
00:06:18
people either loved it or people
00:06:20
absolutely hated it and as I mentioned
00:06:22
maybe it's because it didn't feel like
00:06:24
Call of Duty but the biggest thing I've
00:06:25
seen people say is to keep zombies out
00:06:29
of the campaign and I understand that it
00:06:31
actually makes a lot of sense but as a
00:06:33
whole I don't necessarily think it's the
00:06:36
zombies that are the issue I think more
00:06:38
than anything number one it is the
00:06:41
reused assets as we go through the four
00:06:44
different sectors of this Mission we end
00:06:46
up getting into boss fights with various
00:06:49
different special zombies we get into
00:06:51
boss fights with manglers with mimics
00:06:53
with Abominations old zombies that we
00:06:55
have seen many many times before
00:06:58
throughout Modern Warfare Zombies Black
00:07:00
Ops zombies and Black Ops Cold War these
00:07:03
are reused assets and now they are in
00:07:06
the campaign and having to have fought
00:07:08
these things thousands of times before
00:07:10
if you were camo grinding you're
00:07:12
probably very very sick of them at this
00:07:14
point so to just see them reused almost
00:07:17
felt a little bit lazy and quite
00:07:19
honestly I think what would have worked
00:07:20
a lot better for this mission is not
00:07:23
shooting zombies they should have kept
00:07:26
the mannequins as the main bad guy and
00:07:29
the reason reason why I say that we
00:07:30
already know that case was tripping out
00:07:31
that's the point of this it's showing
00:07:33
off what happens with cradle and the
00:07:35
mannequins were already here in this
00:07:37
area it was the first thing that we saw
00:07:39
as we worked our way throughout this
00:07:41
Mission so if you were going through
00:07:43
this and instead of zombies being here
00:07:45
they were all mannequins this would make
00:07:47
a lot more sense and wouldn't feel like
00:07:50
you were being put into a zombies game
00:07:52
and then for the boss fights I don't
00:07:54
think you should have been fighting an
00:07:55
Abomination or anything along those
00:07:57
lines I think you should have been
00:07:59
fighting
00:08:00
the other main characters in the game so
00:08:01
for one of the boss fights you could
00:08:03
have been fighting Adler for another one
00:08:05
herrow for another one Frank Woods and
00:08:07
we've even seen this in several parts as
00:08:09
some of the zombies actually turn in to
00:08:11
some of these characters it would make a
00:08:13
lot more sense narratively as we could
00:08:15
see the good side and bad side of case
00:08:17
which is brought out by Cradle be
00:08:19
brought forward and the whole idea of
00:08:21
the campaign where you can't trust your
00:08:23
allies be more of a motif instead of
00:08:26
just zombies be added in for no apparent
00:08:28
reason so yeah I get why the zombies
00:08:31
thing becomes a problem there is another
00:08:33
mission where zombies are brought in as
00:08:35
well it's called separation anxiety and
00:08:37
this is the one where you play as Jane
00:08:39
Harrow the main bad guy or antagonist
00:08:42
throughout the campaign and when you do
00:08:44
zombies are once again brought in
00:08:45
however this time we are not fighting
00:08:47
against zombie bosses they are used as
00:08:50
almost a horr element this mission is
00:08:52
straight up pretty scary sometimes
00:08:57
[Music]
00:08:57
[Applause]
00:09:07
and when they do this they are not
00:09:09
making it so that you are fighting
00:09:10
against zombies they are very clearly
00:09:12
showing you that you are fighting
00:09:14
against your subconscious and against
00:09:16
evil Jane herrow pushing that element
00:09:19
forward whereas when we go into
00:09:21
emergence and are playing as case the
00:09:23
reason why zombies are there doesn't
00:09:26
really make any sense whereas Jane
00:09:27
Harrow they are there because she is
00:09:29
scared it is showing her as a child and
00:09:32
having to deal with these scary things
00:09:33
that are going on in her life and that
00:09:35
is presenting as zombies it's almost a
00:09:38
metaphor if you will whereas case
00:09:40
they're just kind of there to give you
00:09:42
something to fight and I truly believe
00:09:44
those would have been mannequins instead
00:09:46
of zombies and the bosses would have
00:09:47
been different this would have gone down
00:09:49
as the best mission in any Call of Duty
00:09:52
game but it fell short because of reused
00:09:54
assets players who want to play zombies
00:09:56
just wanting to be in zombies and it
00:09:58
being so so unrealistic because they're
00:10:00
zombies people just didn't want that to
00:10:03
make any sense because keep in mind the
00:10:05
case Mission isn't just in his head he
00:10:08
is in that facility and he is kind of
00:10:11
battling against something but because
00:10:13
they're zombies I think it took away
00:10:15
from that overall motif of what the
00:10:17
Cradle is what it does and take away
00:10:20
from the whole militarized style of Call
00:10:23
of Duty I think there was a better way
00:10:25
to do this and yeah I still love this
00:10:28
Mission and I think this mission comes
00:10:29
down to one thing either you loved it or
00:10:32
you hate it and personally I like to see
00:10:34
Call of Duty campaigns go further and
00:10:36
further away from that militarized
00:10:39
combat where every Mission you are just
00:10:40
in another battle in another area of the
00:10:42
world and it just to me gets a little
00:10:45
boring to this it adds more characters
00:10:47
it adds more story and yeah sometimes it
00:10:50
gets a little controversial but to me I
00:10:53
love this Mission but I want to hear
00:10:54
what you guys think about this Mission
00:10:56
were you pissed that zombies were in it
00:10:58
did you care did you like it did you not
00:11:00
let me know what you think down in the
00:11:01
comments and if you want me to Deep dive
00:11:02
into more Call of Duty missions maybe
00:11:04
something along the lines of all gilled
00:11:06
up or no Russian or some other missions
00:11:08
from Call of Duty games like cleanhouse
00:11:11
let me know by hitting that like button
00:11:12
subscribing turning notifications on and
00:11:14
as always appreciate you guys coming to
00:11:16
check out the video and until next time
00:11:20
[Music]
00:11:22
peace but we're making this you hard and
00:11:27
I wonder where you are
00:11:35
M that's the part you always show
