00:00:00
hey guys welcome to this video thanks
00:00:01
for joining me now in this video I'll be
00:00:02
talking about something that is a bit
00:00:04
different from what I normally talk
00:00:06
about on my channel
00:00:07
normally my channel I talk about saving
00:00:08
money investing money how we can create
00:00:10
passive income knife and interested in
00:00:11
two subjects please check out my channel
00:00:13
and I'm sure you're gonna find value in
00:00:14
it also consider subscribe to the
00:00:16
channel so they don't miss videos like
00:00:18
that but in this video I'll be talking
00:00:20
about something that really focuses on
00:00:22
immigrants because hey I'm an immigrant
00:00:24
myself and over time I've realized that
00:00:27
there's so many opportunities that a lot
00:00:30
of people don't pay attention to
00:00:31
especially before they come over to in
00:00:34
other states now the truth is noticed it
00:00:36
is filled with a lot of opportunities
00:00:38
especially if you're coming from a place
00:00:40
like Africa where in some areas of
00:00:42
Africa you are often struggling to even
00:00:44
make a dime but in other states you know
00:00:48
if you can just do basic things you
00:00:50
would often get around and survive so
00:00:53
here the things you're gonna get away
00:00:54
from this video by the end of this video
00:00:56
you're gonna get some tips as to what
00:00:58
you need to keep in mind for even come
00:01:00
to United States the second thing you
00:01:01
need to remember is that as an immigrant
00:01:04
I've something about 10-years is so what
00:01:06
I'll share with you first and
00:01:08
experiences alright this is not
00:01:10
something that I read about these are
00:01:11
the things that I heard about these are
00:01:13
things that I experienced firsthand so
00:01:17
please if you find value this video
00:01:18
please consider giving this video a
00:01:19
thumbs up and also if you have
00:01:20
experienced something alright please
00:01:23
also share comment section below because
00:01:24
I know that this video is gonna be
00:01:25
uploaded on YouTube and I know that a
00:01:27
lot of people would get a chance to see
00:01:28
this video and these people would be
00:01:30
from everywhere warden being UK and US
00:01:33
and Nigeria in different parts of the
00:01:34
world so please feel free share
00:01:36
experiences because at the end of the
00:01:38
day people will learn from your own
00:01:41
experiences as well so let's get to it
00:01:49
now when I came to the net state in 2010
00:01:52
I came here as a student to do my
00:01:54
training and also go to school before I
00:01:56
left Nigeria
00:01:57
I already got my bachelor's degree and I
00:02:00
completed my NYC people from Nigeria and
00:02:02
it's not what I'm talking about now by
00:02:04
the time I go to United States I went
00:02:06
through the whole program finished that
00:02:08
and I realized that I didn't have a lot
00:02:10
of opportunities back at home instead of
00:02:12
me going home to try to you know get
00:02:14
into the queue because there is which
00:02:16
kind of line of work that I mean you
00:02:18
can't have to go sit down and spend more
00:02:21
money to get more qualifications before
00:02:23
you can even get a job in Nigeria and
00:02:24
that is even if you get a job because
00:02:27
most people often get a job through
00:02:29
connections or three uncle's or through
00:02:31
a politician that is powerful and if you
00:02:34
don't know that politician where you're
00:02:35
out of luck you get no job I decided I
00:02:37
would stay in the United States go for
00:02:39
more educational qualifications so I
00:02:42
went to school for another two years and
00:02:44
a government publications and I finally
00:02:48
got a job and you know went through the
00:02:50
whole program but that's not really what
00:02:52
I want to talk about what I want to talk
00:02:53
about is that if you are coming from a
00:02:56
different part of the world and you're
00:02:58
coming to the United States of America
00:03:01
and your plan is to come seek
00:03:02
opportunities so that you can improve
00:03:05
yourself and maybe achieve your goals
00:03:06
and your dreams and maybe even help your
00:03:09
family members back home there are few
00:03:11
things you must keep in mind first in is
00:03:13
this you need to understand the United
00:03:15
States is a value seeking country and
00:03:18
what I mean by that is this in order for
00:03:21
you to make it in America you need to
00:03:22
add value now the truth is in any part
00:03:24
of the world that you reciting I'm sure
00:03:26
that you need to create value in order
00:03:28
to make money that's the truth in it you
00:03:30
need value and then somebody's gonna pay
00:03:33
you for the service that's just equate
00:03:36
works but here's the notice this is very
00:03:37
popular for that because if you continue
00:03:39
rest of America without any form of
00:03:41
skill any form of qualifications what
00:03:44
you end up doing even if you have your
00:03:45
degree or master's degree or whatever
00:03:46
you have a technical genis States you
00:03:48
must ask you sometimes useless now if
00:03:50
you a doctor maybe you can do some
00:03:51
section courses or go through the
00:03:53
process but if you're not a doctor for
00:03:55
most people here at the lawyer if you're
00:03:57
a journalist or whatever you might have
00:03:59
studied history all those things like
00:04:01
Davidge pretty much you have to
00:04:02
communalist it and study what is theirs
00:04:05
and learn from their own system no itís
00:04:09
all know that applies really well if you
00:04:10
studied IT you can easily transfer the
00:04:12
skill because most of the time you
00:04:14
already in that line of work so you just
00:04:16
you know good resolution processes and
00:04:19
you can easily transfer that skill but
00:04:21
there are some courses and skills that
00:04:22
are not transferable once you are in the
00:04:25
United States if you have no skill you
00:04:27
have no qualification you are a de pere
00:04:30
bottom right you end up just working
00:04:32
minimum wage and all the money you would
00:04:34
make even do it seemed like a lot when
00:04:37
you are in your country by the time your
00:04:39
happiness that that one is nothing
00:04:40
because you probably just be working
00:04:42
minimum-wage job and that minimum-wage
00:04:43
job will only just feed you maybe
00:04:46
provide you some place to live and
00:04:47
that's it because anything extra that
00:04:49
you make is probably not gonna be enough
00:04:52
for you to really go further in terms of
00:04:55
maybe you want to go further in your
00:04:56
education maybe you want to support
00:04:57
somebody from home it doesn't really go
00:04:59
that far and that's why it's very
00:05:00
important that you come with the skill
00:05:02
so let's talk about a skill for a second
00:05:04
alright a lot of people and these are
00:05:06
people that I've met that I've seen that
00:05:08
I've talked to interacted with these are
00:05:11
people that probably don't have any
00:05:12
educational qualifications but because
00:05:15
they have a skill they are able to go
00:05:17
further than people that actually went
00:05:20
to school and after good for a
00:05:22
nine-to-five job and one of those skills
00:05:25
first one is if you have handy like it's
00:05:30
very like handyman now you cap in tire
00:05:33
you can fix top you can repair stuff you
00:05:35
can paint you can landscape you can do
00:05:38
all this kind of work now this is a kind
00:05:39
of work that if you try to do them
00:05:41
wherever you guys are like in Nigeria we
00:05:44
will consider like oh man that's for you
00:05:46
know like your maid or your house boy
00:05:49
that will call them or I was Gil to do
00:05:51
those are kind of things that you always
00:05:53
give them to do right what is that kind
00:05:54
of skills that over here people pay you
00:05:56
a lot of money to do them because people
00:05:59
often are occupied with their own
00:06:02
businesses their own jobs and they will
00:06:04
prefer to just leave those kind of jobs
00:06:06
to other people and you'll pay extra for
00:06:08
it now the reason I'm talking about this
00:06:09
kind of job is that obviously it won't
00:06:11
be a lot of money but because you have
00:06:12
that skill you have that competitive
00:06:14
advantage
00:06:15
/ people that are charging a lot of
00:06:18
extra now I'm fully going one thing I
00:06:20
wanted to understand is that make sure
00:06:21
that whatever you're doing you seek in
00:06:23
legal advice all right because I don't
00:06:26
want to share information and somebody
00:06:28
comes on and say oh I'm wrong go but
00:06:29
this is not right the truth is I'm not a
00:06:31
legal adviser I'm not a tax advisor I'm
00:06:33
not a lawyer
00:06:34
I have no form of information to really
00:06:36
share in regards to the legality of some
00:06:39
of these things but one thing I know is
00:06:41
that first of all you need to make sure
00:06:43
that you have your documents right and
00:06:46
secondly if you do not have like your
00:06:48
permanent residency they try to make
00:06:50
sure you have like your ITIN number so
00:06:52
that you can pay taxes because that's
00:06:54
very important IRS wants their money I
00:06:55
don't want you to get into trouble based
00:06:57
on what I said but the key thing is that
00:06:59
once you have your legal sides on the
00:07:03
control I have it in place the next
00:07:06
thing you won't start looking into is
00:07:07
that you want to use those skills that
00:07:08
you've learned from home and one of the
00:07:10
easiest ways that I've seen that people
00:07:12
make money in this country is by doing
00:07:14
menial jobs that pay you a lot of money
00:07:17
example of those jobs are like for
00:07:19
example if you know to do your air if
00:07:22
you can make air like ladies I don't
00:07:24
know if hairdressing they call it
00:07:26
headers in back at home but it point is
00:07:27
that if you can make air or do air I
00:07:29
don't know what word to use for you
00:07:31
ladies would know exactly I'm talking
00:07:33
about especially the African like people
00:07:36
we can you know we have that tough air
00:07:38
and sometimes you have to do your end
00:07:39
starting way unto your braids and all
00:07:41
this type of esta as I do if you're a
00:07:43
lady please call and learn how to do
00:07:45
this tickets because even as a student
00:07:47
you can do some of these things to make
00:07:50
small amount of money on the side while
00:07:53
still going to school and that is why
00:07:57
I'm saying that you know this is the
00:07:58
things that I wish I knew before comes
00:08:00
United States if you again Gatlin also
00:08:02
caught air like if you can cut air
00:08:04
properly and you know make it look nice
00:08:06
you will get paid doing that and the
00:08:09
truth is this right as long as you are
00:08:12
legal and also that I do legal things
00:08:14
the proper way these are things that you
00:08:16
can actually create a lot of businesses
00:08:18
out of I've met like few other people
00:08:20
that have done this and they are making
00:08:21
a lot of money
00:08:23
why because I did another day as an
00:08:25
immigrant we are not trying to
00:08:27
most of us are not trying to leave in a
00:08:29
way that that is outside of our means we
00:08:31
all know that we have responsibilities
00:08:33
or we have things to take care of back
00:08:34
at home so as long as you cut your coat
00:08:37
according to your size that they say you
00:08:39
will make a lot of money doing some of
00:08:41
these jobs now these are not jobs that
00:08:43
you know that I like cleaning because
00:08:45
those kind of jobs you know Puu end up
00:08:47
working minimum wage and you end up not
00:08:49
going anywhere or like working as a
00:08:51
manager or the gas station make those
00:08:53
kind of jobs will not pay you and you
00:08:54
can get anyway because well they might
00:08:55
pay you like to survive but you're not
00:08:58
going to get anywhere this kind of jobs
00:08:59
and the kind of jobs that really get you
00:09:01
far is to create businesses now if you
00:09:03
know how to landscape like some people
00:09:05
not to like you know trim flowers and do
00:09:08
landscape now you don't necessarily have
00:09:10
to do it yourself you will hire people
00:09:12
but because you have the knowledge on
00:09:13
how to do it that is where you will make
00:09:16
your money and you just find people to
00:09:18
support you and you beating one
00:09:20
direction there and this is something
00:09:22
that I feel like I wish I knew when I
00:09:24
first got here another example of a job
00:09:26
that is realistic now you don't have to
00:09:30
have a lot of money to do real estate
00:09:32
for if you have knowledge of doing like
00:09:34
it repairs painting doing tiles oh my
00:09:38
goodness I'm gonna give you an example
00:09:40
there's a friend of mine that knows
00:09:41
about this thing doesn't even speak
00:09:43
English I don't speak English but
00:09:44
because it knows that it knows how to
00:09:46
like do all the Styles and painting and
00:09:48
set up like the old interior of a house
00:09:51
this guy's killing it is killing it and
00:09:54
this is someone that cannot speak
00:09:56
English so the point is this right if
00:09:58
you can just lend those cup of skills
00:10:01
now there's so in this good do not fix
00:10:03
it car oh my goodness can you fix a car
00:10:05
if you can fix a car that is something
00:10:08
that you will get away with us well
00:10:09
because you will have a lot of people
00:10:11
calling you day and night
00:10:13
there isn't why a lot of people prepare
00:10:15
services over your competition is this
00:10:17
now to tell you that when you arrive or
00:10:20
where you come to United States you need
00:10:21
your own circle of people like people
00:10:23
that look like you people that speak the
00:10:25
same language as you and most of the
00:10:27
time we have some family members or
00:10:28
friends that we kind of grew up with or
00:10:31
where we know and these are people that
00:10:33
we end up having a circle of friends
00:10:35
around them as well so those kind of
00:10:37
people when they know that you have the
00:10:38
skills I would I would start
00:10:39
you and I start recommending your
00:10:41
services to other people and this is
00:10:43
where your cycle of contacts gets larger
00:10:47
and larger and your business grows along
00:10:48
with it now this is something that I
00:10:51
wish I knew like it's very easy for me
00:10:53
to save now because obviously I've spent
00:10:55
10 years here but at the time when I
00:10:57
came here I didn't know any of this
00:10:58
knowledge that they have any of this
00:10:59
information and I wish somebody had told
00:11:00
me another example is if you can do
00:11:03
pastries like you know those things that
00:11:06
we make in Nigeria like we call it like
00:11:08
snacks exactly like snacks if you can
00:11:10
make those snacks or pastries those are
00:11:12
the things that you can do because you
00:11:13
have your friends and family members and
00:11:15
maybe your uncles and auntie's that you
00:11:17
have in many states that we wanna do a
00:11:19
party and as long as you know they can
00:11:21
pay for this thing you you just are
00:11:24
doing it because you have the knowledge
00:11:25
of the skill to do it if you have those
00:11:28
things
00:11:28
please remember that those opportunities
00:11:30
for you to earn a lot of money and this
00:11:33
is money that again as long as you're
00:11:35
not going above your means now this
00:11:36
alone is not gonna be like you know
00:11:38
crazy money but the point is to give you
00:11:40
enough to support yourself while you're
00:11:42
in the States and to give you enough
00:11:44
even send back home as long as you are
00:11:46
not you know blowing up your money over
00:11:48
here there's so many skills there's so
00:11:50
many skills but the ones that I would
00:11:51
want to consider are skills that you can
00:11:54
often reuse like their skills like for
00:11:56
example if you not to do it people would
00:11:58
often have to do the air maybe every
00:11:59
month or every two months I don't know
00:12:01
maybe some ladies do get some ones and
00:12:03
those are the kind of skills that you
00:12:03
want because you often have to call you
00:12:05
again
00:12:05
simply with guys we were off enough to
00:12:07
cut our air every week you want those
00:12:08
kind of skills because those are
00:12:10
repeatable they you can always count on
00:12:12
them like okay I would always make this
00:12:14
amount of money every month or every
00:12:15
week and I always plan on it now when it
00:12:17
comes to fixing the car or doing
00:12:19
pastries those are like event oriented
00:12:21
like for example for the cutter for you
00:12:23
to fix the credit cards to break down
00:12:24
right but the thing is you can always
00:12:26
create a service out of that for example
00:12:27
if you know how to do like all change
00:12:29
and fix a car and do all those sort of
00:12:31
maintenance work on your car then you
00:12:33
can easily give this person a business
00:12:36
card tell this person's always call you
00:12:38
back in maybe six months or maybe in a
00:12:40
thousand miles or five thousand or ten
00:12:42
thousand or whatever company pick I
00:12:43
requires because you know about it so
00:12:45
you can always give recommendations but
00:12:47
one thing that you always want to make
00:12:49
sure in any form of business that you do
00:12:51
is to be genuine
00:12:53
and with trustworthy because as long as
00:12:55
you trust rhodium people like you you
00:12:57
will always get repeatable businesses
00:13:00
now you want enos enos remember is this
00:13:01
don't limit yourself to just a circle of
00:13:04
friends or your people that look like
00:13:06
you or people that Miss Piggy's images
00:13:08
that language as you extend those
00:13:10
circles of friends start making those
00:13:12
connections as you arrived why because
00:13:14
over time those other people those are
00:13:18
groups of people start calling you
00:13:20
because they knew that you do a good job
00:13:21
at a reasonable price and I have to tell
00:13:24
you something
00:13:24
something broke in my house all right um
00:13:27
now you guys know a cooker there's like
00:13:28
a switch that you push right electric
00:13:30
cookers for example that's what I twist
00:13:32
broke down I called someone to come fix
00:13:35
it for me they said we will just come
00:13:36
look at it they will have to pay after
00:13:38
p75 dollars just to look at it
00:13:41
then to fix it if there's a problem it's
00:13:44
got a customer that maybe only goodness
00:13:46
me World War II God was always gonna
00:13:48
cost me what the point is this right I
00:13:49
decided to open up that in myself
00:13:51
because I have a little bit of
00:13:53
understanding when it comes to electric
00:13:55
stuff you know and I was able to fix
00:13:57
that thing it part the component that I
00:13:59
changed was only what cost over 46
00:14:02
dollars or something but that is
00:14:03
something that you would have to pick
00:14:05
out about to pay someone else if I
00:14:08
wasn't handy in a way if I couldn't do
00:14:11
that kind of job I would have to pay
00:14:12
someone else to do that for me
00:14:14
and those are the kind of things that I
00:14:17
wish I knew it is possible for you to
00:14:18
have some of the skills container
00:14:20
estates and get the required
00:14:22
certifications and also to eat the
00:14:24
proper weight that is absolutely fine
00:14:26
but because you already have that skill
00:14:29
makes it very easy for you to tap into
00:14:31
and those are the kind of skills that I
00:14:33
wants to pay attention to go and start
00:14:36
working on those skills today like right
00:14:38
if your plans going to set go see that
00:14:41
uncle dude behind your house that fix
00:14:43
cars going be the best friend let him
00:14:45
start showing you how to fix some things
00:14:47
if you have like a bubble go about
00:14:48
telling that hey you want to just spend
00:14:50
a few days with him learning how to cut
00:14:53
people's air so that way you come over
00:14:55
here you can tap into the skills and the
00:14:58
skills would often give you that
00:15:00
opportunity to survive and make extra
00:15:03
money outside also but you know
00:15:05
see that money that you're making if you
00:15:07
can then invest it in other things like
00:15:11
the stocks that I talked about on my
00:15:12
channel or if you can invest it into
00:15:15
some form of real estate investment
00:15:16
because I'm also a realtor you know
00:15:18
those kind of investments are the big
00:15:21
investments boy you see those initial
00:15:22
steps that you need to take to survive
00:15:24
on a day-to-day basis in a new place is
00:15:26
what you sustain you all right we
00:15:29
sustain you and eventually you can start
00:15:32
reaching a greater high and I hope that
00:15:33
you'll find some values with and I hope
00:15:35
that you've gained a few things from
00:15:36
this video and it truth is a matter of
00:15:38
jante and some of this subjects because
00:15:40
I didn't really have a plan buy a new
00:15:42
executor on to talk about so I hope that
00:15:44
you have found some value please give it
00:15:46
a thumbs up and I hope that this video
00:15:47
does what it does well how I should have
00:15:49
to take it even a step further because I
00:15:51
still have some more information that I
00:15:53
would like to share and those will
00:15:56
require me to really show proof and
00:15:57
things like that and that's why I hope
00:15:59
that this video does well so that I can
00:16:00
actually get to that next level and
00:16:02
share my information and also if you
00:16:04
have found values you please give me a
00:16:05
thumbs up and subscribe to the channel
00:16:06
so that you don't miss the next video
00:16:09
I'll see you next time
