so you might have watched the video
  • 00:00:01
where I answered the comment section
  • 00:00:03
questions from a video from Greg
  • 00:00:05
Eisenberg in that video I mentioned that
  • 00:00:07
I built a website directory that makes
  • 00:00:09
    $1,500 to $2,000 a month today I'm going
  • 00:00:12
to show you exactly what that looks like
  • 00:00:15
without giving you the actual domain
  • 00:00:17
because I wouldn't want to invite
  • 00:00:19
competition so in this video I'm going
  • 00:00:21
to show you how I built that and how you
  • 00:00:23
can basically go out and build the same
  • 00:00:24
thing for an evergreen location based
  • 00:00:27
Niche and um kind of of create your own
  • 00:00:30
passive income machine hey guys it's
  • 00:00:32
Frey and today I'm going to show you
  • 00:00:34
exactly how I built my very first
  • 00:00:36
website directory uh back in 2022 in my
  • 00:00:39
opinion this is level one of website
  • 00:00:42
directory builds it's a static website
  • 00:00:44
    directory which means we're actually
  • 00:00:46
going to go into WordPress and I'm going
  • 00:00:48
to show you how we basically create new
  • 00:00:51
pages and manually build out a static
  • 00:00:54
page that is going to act as our website
  • 00:00:57
    directory it's really different than
  • 00:00:58
what people think of when they think of
  • 00:01:00
directories nowadays A lot of those
  • 00:01:02
    directories are programmatically created
  • 00:01:04
people create custom code or use a
  • 00:01:07
WordPress plugin um for directories and
  • 00:01:10
then they can upload a CSV file and then
  • 00:01:12
generate thousands of pages in the same
  • 00:01:15
day there are some pros and cons between
  • 00:01:17
the static directory route and the
  • 00:01:20
programmatic SEO route but both of them
  • 00:01:23
can make money in a way this is my
  • 00:01:24
favorite way to build a directory
  • 00:01:26
because it's so simple and I think it's
  • 00:01:30
slept on a little bit and it utilizes
  • 00:01:32
some kind of outdated SEO practices
  • 00:01:35
which are clearly not outdated and are
  • 00:01:38
clearly working because my website is
  • 00:01:40
    continuing to make $1,500 to $2,000 a
  • 00:01:43
    month completely passively pretty much
  • 00:01:46
uh at this point and still gets around
  • 00:01:48
60,000 monthly visitors and clearly it
  • 00:01:51
works because I actually hit my highest
  • 00:01:53
revenue month last month uh with this
  • 00:01:57
directory website that I built in 2022
  • 00:01:59
    and it made um
  • 00:02:03
$1,585 from the display ad Revenue side
  • 00:02:07
I also sell digital products on this one
  • 00:02:09
but I did around $700 with the digital
  • 00:02:11
products this is just like my stripe
  • 00:02:14
here so yeah so there's that I think
  • 00:02:17
that totals to just under $2,300 I
  • 00:02:20
didn't spend any time on it it just kind
  • 00:02:22
of runs on the background at this point
  • 00:02:24
it's pretty much passive income but I
  • 00:02:26
spend a lot of time building it up front
  • 00:02:28
so that's kind of you know the whole
  • 00:02:31
stick when I say this is the simplest
  • 00:02:33
directory build um it's really the
  • 00:02:35
simplest like it really only has 50 to
  • 00:02:38
60 web pages in total so all you really
  • 00:02:41
need to make this work is to have really
  • 00:02:43
high quality data um you need to know
  • 00:02:46
your way around WordPress and hopefully
  • 00:02:48
a good theme I'm using Elementor Pro in
  • 00:02:50
this example you don't have to use that
  • 00:02:52
but um it's just what I know to build on
  • 00:02:54
and I can I can build a website really
  • 00:02:57
really quickly with Elementor Pro you
  • 00:02:59
need need a domain name you need a host
  • 00:03:01
and you do need a little bit of SEO
  • 00:03:03
knowledge and I'm not going to fit all
  • 00:03:05
the SEO knowledge that I have in this
  • 00:03:07
video but I will go over some when I see
  • 00:03:09
it uh once we go over to to the
  • 00:03:11
WordPress side just so you can take away
  • 00:03:13
a little bit and then if you want to go
  • 00:03:15
and start building this static directory
  • 00:03:16
for your own Niche then um then you can
  • 00:03:19
get started but uh first let's talk
  • 00:03:20
about the pros and cons because those
  • 00:03:22
are really important and you should know
  • 00:03:24
what you're getting yourself into when
  • 00:03:25
you're choosing this route versus the
  • 00:03:27
programmatic route for example the pros
  • 00:03:29
of this type of directory build that I'm
  • 00:03:32
about to show you is that it's really
  • 00:03:34
simple right it's basically like 50 web
  • 00:03:37
pages which is all of your state Pages
  • 00:03:40
like you know your Alabama Arizona
  • 00:03:42
Arkansas California you know all those
  • 00:03:44
50 states and then maybe you have a
  • 00:03:46
contact blog a homepage like privacy
  • 00:03:50
policy all those small little Pages
  • 00:03:52
    you'll you'll have those too but it's a
  • 00:03:54
really simple website build the second
  • 00:03:56
Pro is that it's amazing for location
  • 00:03:58
based everg green niches uh Evergreen
  • 00:04:01
meaning it's it basically it doesn't get
  • 00:04:03
outdated right uh think about the dog
  • 00:04:06
park uh directory that I'm currently
  • 00:04:08
building out and have talked about in
  • 00:04:09
previous videos dog parks in their
  • 00:04:11
nature are not going to change really
  • 00:04:13
all that much um for the next 10 20 50
  • 00:04:17
100 years versus something like an AI
  • 00:04:19
directory where there's a new AI tool
  • 00:04:22
that's going to be coming out every
  • 00:04:23
single day that's going to require a lot
  • 00:04:25
of upkeep so Evergreen and then location
  • 00:04:28
based is um you know anything locally
  • 00:04:30
searched any near me keyword dog parks
  • 00:04:33
again like dog parks near me that local
  • 00:04:36
dog park near your house is not going to
  • 00:04:38
be something that someone across the
  • 00:04:40
country is also searching for so any
  • 00:04:42
kind of like location based keyword the
  • 00:04:46
third Pro is it's great for display ads
  • 00:04:48
75% of the revenue I make from this um
  • 00:04:52
static directory that I own is display
  • 00:04:55
ads which is basically using AdSense
  • 00:04:57
eoic media Vine any any kind of a
  • 00:05:00
display ad partner where they put on
  • 00:05:02
advertisements on your website and you
  • 00:05:04
earn a certain amount of money uh
  • 00:05:07
depending on what Niche you're in and
  • 00:05:09
how much traffic you're bringing to your
  • 00:05:10
website so this is an incredible um
  • 00:05:14
structure and format for display ad
  • 00:05:17
monetization the reason why this is
  • 00:05:19
really good for display ads is because
  • 00:05:22
    we're basically creating extremely long
  • 00:05:24
pages that cover Statewide interest in
  • 00:05:28
your Niche you know you hear YouTubers
  • 00:05:30
they make a lot more money on like a 45
  • 00:05:32
minute video or an hour long video than
  • 00:05:34
they do like a 3 minute video so long
  • 00:05:36
form you're going to be able to fit a
  • 00:05:38
lot more ad placements and stuff like
  • 00:05:40
that which is going to get you paid more
  • 00:05:42
all right so now let's talk about some
  • 00:05:44
cons because everything in life isn't
  • 00:05:46
perfect and there are some Cons with
  • 00:05:48
this type of website directory build so
  • 00:05:50
the first con is that you're kind of
  • 00:05:52
    locked into certain monetization methods
  • 00:05:55
and really like the biggest one is
  • 00:05:57
display ads um you can do affiliate
  • 00:05:59
Market marketing um and selling digital
  • 00:06:01
products like I did but it really really
  • 00:06:03
really is Niche dependent and I feel
  • 00:06:06
like affiliate marketing you either have
  • 00:06:08
to be selling something pretty expensive
  • 00:06:09
to get a decent cut or commission or you
  • 00:06:12
have to sell something a bunch of times
  • 00:06:14
which is a little bit difficult with a
  • 00:06:16
directory website um in my experience so
  • 00:06:19
those last two monetization methods vary
  • 00:06:21
greatly depending on the niche that you
  • 00:06:23
choose and because of that you're going
  • 00:06:25
to want to stick to this build if you
  • 00:06:27
are trying to go for um keep keywords
  • 00:06:29
and niches that have like 30,000 monthly
  • 00:06:33
searches or more so that you can kind of
  • 00:06:35
reach that $1,000 a month range yeah at
  • 00:06:38
least that's what I do the second con is
  • 00:06:40
that it's not the best user experience
  • 00:06:43
compared to other directories so like I
  • 00:06:45
said we're creating a very long page
  • 00:06:48
where we basically create a manual
  • 00:06:50
listing for like an entire State and
  • 00:06:52
it's going to make more sense when you
  • 00:06:53
see this but um I made the custom
  • 00:06:56
template in a way where I don't think
  • 00:06:58
it's too horrible at all compared to the
  • 00:07:00
types of directory that I think most
  • 00:07:02
people think of where they just type in
  • 00:07:03
a zip code or your city and then it just
  • 00:07:06
pulls up like a nice modern map with a
  • 00:07:08
bunch of like listings within 25 miles
  • 00:07:11
or 50 Mi of you yeah this is not not
  • 00:07:14
that if you're the kind of person who
  • 00:07:15
really cares about user experience then
  • 00:07:17
that may be a reason not to make this
  • 00:07:20
but honestly I feel like it's not that
  • 00:07:21
big of a deal the third con is that you
  • 00:07:23
have to manually create these pages and
  • 00:07:25
by manually I mean we're going to
  • 00:07:27
Wordpress we're clicking to pages is add
  • 00:07:30
new page you're basically creating the
  • 00:07:33
website by hand compared to programmatic
  • 00:07:37
directories you can literally make a
  • 00:07:38
change on one listing template and then
  • 00:07:40
it will affect all the other listings so
  • 00:07:43
it saves you a lot of time this is way
  • 00:07:46
more manual and this requires you to
  • 00:07:49
like yeah go into WordPress click edit
  • 00:07:51
find the place you want to change and
  • 00:07:52
change it and then do that for all the
  • 00:07:54
other changes that you want to make so
  • 00:07:56
yeah that's that's one of the cons the
  • 00:07:58
    fourth con is I'm I don't think like a
  • 00:07:59
huge con but it really only works for
  • 00:08:01
location based niches uh some of you
  • 00:08:04
guys mentioned in the comments that you
  • 00:08:05
have a directory idea for like movies
  • 00:08:09
    non-location specific directory ideas
  • 00:08:12
and this wouldn't really work for those
  • 00:08:14
    there's a really famous directory
  • 00:08:16
website that literally just I think it's
  • 00:08:18
called like books in order it's
  • 00:08:20
literally just a directory on like which
  • 00:08:23
books come first Harry Potter and the
  • 00:08:25
Sorcerer Stone come before Goblet of
  • 00:08:27
Fire like that it just tells you like
  • 00:08:29
what what's the order of books and it
  • 00:08:31
gets a ton of traffic it makes a ton of
  • 00:08:33
money every single month like in the
  • 00:08:34
five figures this type of template would
  • 00:08:38
not work for those types of niches so
  • 00:08:40
before we jump into the WordPress
  • 00:08:42
portion where I show you how everything
  • 00:08:44
looks I am using the niche dog park near
  • 00:08:47
me if you've watched my previous videos
  • 00:08:49
you know this is a keyword we've been
  • 00:08:51
working on and this is a really massive
  • 00:08:53
Niche um there's like 5,500 dog parks
  • 00:08:57
around the country and this is way too
  • 00:08:59
too big of a niche to use for this
  • 00:09:02
format that I'm about to show you yeah I
  • 00:09:04
kind of forgot to mention that in one of
  • 00:09:06
the cons so ultimately this is the
  • 00:09:07
perfect format for a directory that has
  • 00:09:11
I would say less than 500 listings it
  • 00:09:14
makes way more sense to go the
  • 00:09:15
programmatic route for that reason so
  • 00:09:18
just want to get that out there we're
  • 00:09:19
just using it as an example here is the
  • 00:09:21
homepage of our static directory so this
  • 00:09:25
is the homepage and first thing you'll
  • 00:09:27
notice is that I have my keyword in the
  • 00:09:31
H1 the header one so definitely do that
  • 00:09:35
um I do include a quick description
  • 00:09:38
which I think is really useful kind of
  • 00:09:40
gives people an idea of what value
  • 00:09:41
you're offering so after you know your
  • 00:09:44
header you basically just create a map
  • 00:09:48
of the entire country in this case the
  • 00:09:50
United States these would all be Hy
  • 00:09:52
hyperlink so I didn't do it now because
  • 00:09:55
I didn't actually create the pages but
  • 00:09:56
we're essentially going to go and create
  • 00:09:59
all of these different pages which I'll
  • 00:10:02
show you one in a moment for California
  • 00:10:04
I created a sample one and you're going
  • 00:10:06
to link them into the homepage so what
  • 00:10:08
does this do one it makes it super
  • 00:10:10
simple right there's nothing easier to
  • 00:10:13
understand than this uh usually I do
  • 00:10:15
include a clickable map right under
  • 00:10:18
where are you located interactive geom
  • 00:10:20
maps or something like that it's a
  • 00:10:22
WordPress plugin and I think the premium
  • 00:10:24
is like $30 a year so it's super super
  • 00:10:28
affordable just imagine this all these
  • 00:10:30
are hyperlink to their respective page
  • 00:10:33
so here I do include keywords and topics
  • 00:10:36
that I also want to rank for that are
  • 00:10:38
kind of related to my main keyword so in
  • 00:10:40
the previous videos I talked about how
  • 00:10:43
offleash dog parks and indoor dog parks
  • 00:10:46
those were searched pretty often too not
  • 00:10:48
nowhere close as dog park near me but
  • 00:10:51
these are these are keywords that are
  • 00:10:53
worth targeting right what I would do is
  • 00:10:54
I would probably just talk about
  • 00:10:57
offleash dog parks uh and how this
  • 00:10:59
    directory in particular features all
  • 00:11:01
sorts of off leash dog parks in
  • 00:11:03
    different states basically that's really
  • 00:11:06
    it that that's that's what I'm saying
  • 00:11:08
    it's it's so simple this isn't a full
  • 00:11:10
buildout but like what I'm showing you
  • 00:11:13
it's the 8020 of it all I'm showing you
  • 00:11:15
the the most impactful like structure of
  • 00:11:18
this website so that you can go build it
  • 00:11:19
I would also add maybe an FAQ section I
  • 00:11:22
would probably add some photos of
  • 00:11:24
offleash dog parks indoor dog parks I
  • 00:11:27
might even add a section where I link to
  • 00:11:29
different blog posts if I have blog
  • 00:11:31
posts down the line right but the most
  • 00:11:33
important part of the homepage is the
  • 00:11:35
navigation to all the different state
  • 00:11:37
pages and having keywords in your H1 as
  • 00:11:41
well as um your H2S right here I know it
  • 00:11:43
doesn't look like much but this is super
  • 00:11:46
effective again when I show you the
  • 00:11:48
California page it'll make sense and
  • 00:11:51
I'll explain from an SEO view why this
  • 00:11:53
is so effective before we check out that
  • 00:11:56
page I do want to make sure it looks
  • 00:11:58
good on mobile mile like 80% of all of
  • 00:12:01
my directory traffic across all my
  • 00:12:03
    directories are mobile website visitors
  • 00:12:06
so it's really important that all of
  • 00:12:07
your design is optimized for mobile like
  • 00:12:10
this is a little bit too big so maybe
  • 00:12:13
I'll like decrease that a little bit
  • 00:12:15
like this could be fixed a little bit if
  • 00:12:17
    we just did something like
  • 00:12:21
    that and then something like
  • 00:12:26
that okay this is probably what I would
  • 00:12:29
do to fix that state area mobile so now
  • 00:12:33
you have like you have this for the
  • 00:12:35
desktop view and then you have um this
  • 00:12:39
okay so that's pretty much the homepage
  • 00:12:40
right it's super simple now let's talk
  • 00:12:42
about the actual State pages so I'm
  • 00:12:44
going to show you the California
  • 00:12:47
one right here and by the way a static
  • 00:12:50
directory literally means going to Pages
  • 00:12:53
clicking add new page saying dog parks
  • 00:12:57
    in Alabama
  • 00:12:59
and then like creating the page right
  • 00:13:03
so because I'm about to show you the
  • 00:13:06
California page and we already created
  • 00:13:08
the template for that state we can just
  • 00:13:11
reuse it and we really don't need a
  • 00:13:13
build it from scratch for the Alabama
  • 00:13:15
page jumping ahead a little bit but
  • 00:13:17
    that's what I mean about static we're
  • 00:13:19
going in creating the page itself so
  • 00:13:21
let's go into the California page here
  • 00:13:24
so this is the California page you can
  • 00:13:27
    see dog parks in California
  • 00:13:29
is my header one a quick tip is that you
  • 00:13:32
always want to frontload your keyword
  • 00:13:33
dog park is my keyword that's the one I
  • 00:13:36
want to rank for so that's why I put it
  • 00:13:38
in the front it wouldn't be as good if I
  • 00:13:41
said California dog parks don't ask me
  • 00:13:44
    why I I honestly don't have a great
  • 00:13:46
answer for you but it's just something
  • 00:13:47
that I've noticed I and I heard the same
  • 00:13:49
from other seos that that's the thing
  • 00:13:51
here's the page it's really really
  • 00:13:53
simple um I just have an image and then
  • 00:13:55
I have another header here it's an H2
  • 00:13:58
fine California is best dog barks I'll
  • 00:14:00
    probably give another description here
  • 00:14:02
just to avoid thin content here you can
  • 00:14:05
see a table of contents I also do
  • 00:14:07
sometimes add a clickable map here but
  • 00:14:09
these are the actual directory listings
  • 00:14:12
so I purposely left them um kind of half
  • 00:14:14
finished so that I can complete it with
  • 00:14:16
you guys here but here you can see I
  • 00:14:18
have dog parks in Long Beach California
  • 00:14:21
that's going to hopefully allow us
  • 00:14:23
because it's a header two allow us to
  • 00:14:25
rank for you know the location Long
  • 00:14:27
Beach and dog parks the keyword I kind
  • 00:14:30
of over Complicated by building out two
  • 00:14:32
different template options but it's okay
  • 00:14:34
so basically like this is a listing
  • 00:14:37
Rosy's dog beach we have a big image
  • 00:14:39
here and we have our data that we in our
  • 00:14:43
last video went and found we scraped
  • 00:14:46
Google Maps we cleaned it and then we
  • 00:14:49
enriched the data these features are the
  • 00:14:52
enriched data for this particular dog
  • 00:14:54
park and here um it's blank but you know
  • 00:14:57
you have your address hours of operation
  • 00:14:59
in your phone number and then you have a
  • 00:15:01
map Ed this is the same exact listing
  • 00:15:03
    here it's just formatted slightly
  • 00:15:05
differently I personally prefer this one
  • 00:15:08
over the first one just giving you
  • 00:15:10
options here okay but this is a really
  • 00:15:12
nice one because I think it makes use of
  • 00:15:15
the real estate the best but here we can
  • 00:15:18
see the same principle dog parks in Long
  • 00:15:20
Beach Rosy's dog beach I also added a
  • 00:15:23
couple other things here so here we have
  • 00:15:25
the same types of uh data enrichment
  • 00:15:28
examples we have our address phone
  • 00:15:30
number and hours we also added Google
  • 00:15:33
reviews you know you can copy and paste
  • 00:15:35
some Google reviews and people can get
  • 00:15:37
an idea of General sentiment towards
  • 00:15:39
this dog park and then here's our map
  • 00:15:41
and bed but another reason why I like
  • 00:15:43
this is because you can include
  • 00:15:45
affiliate plays on this sidebar area so
  • 00:15:48
if I wanted to sell dog leashes or dog
  • 00:15:51
collars like this is the best format for
  • 00:15:54
that overall I think this is the best
  • 00:15:56
format actually but um yeah I could
  • 00:15:57
include like yeah just an image of a
  • 00:16:00
product and then like an Amazon link
  • 00:16:02
right that's just a very very basic and
  • 00:16:04
simple example this is the listing this
  • 00:16:06
is literally the directory listing and
  • 00:16:09
it really couldn't get more simple than
  • 00:16:11
that but as you can tell you still need
  • 00:16:13
to go through the motion of finding a
  • 00:16:16
really solid Niche going to get really
  • 00:16:19
high quality data yeah like I would say
  • 00:16:21
the most valuable parts of this website
  • 00:16:24
directory listing for dog owners right
  • 00:16:26
for dog owners looking for dog parks
  • 00:16:28
would probably be the photo and these
  • 00:16:32
features as this ranks on Google and
  • 00:16:35
people come check out the website what's
  • 00:16:37
going to get people to come back are
  • 00:16:39
those extra conveniences such as this
  • 00:16:43
area and if I were to Spruce it up a
  • 00:16:45
little bit I might even add different
  • 00:16:46
icons for each right I just made it very
  • 00:16:49
very simple for the sake of this example
  • 00:16:51
if you wanted you could even generate a
  • 00:16:53
description for Rosy's dog beach based
  • 00:16:55
on the reviews like there there are a
  • 00:16:57
lot of ways you can even enrich this
  • 00:16:59
further so real quick let's just finish
  • 00:17:01
this so we have a quick example that is
  • 00:17:04
pretty much it and now that you have one
  • 00:17:09
listing you would you can basically
  • 00:17:10
duplicate this right like if I wanted to
  • 00:17:13
duplicate this whole thing maybe this is
  • 00:17:16
the this is John's Long John's dog beach
  • 00:17:19
and this is a different photo maybe it's
  • 00:17:22
this photo and then you would fill out
  • 00:17:24
the respective amenities of this dog
  • 00:17:27
park um based on your data which I hope
  • 00:17:31
you have prepared before you do this
  • 00:17:33
step the reviews keep them or don't keep
  • 00:17:35
them I think they help a lot but it's
  • 00:17:37
also a lot of extra work um if you
  • 00:17:39
manually get it right basically we would
  • 00:17:42
go ahead and you can duplicate these as
  • 00:17:44
much as you want right and then fill it
  • 00:17:47
out after you clean your data like like
  • 00:17:50
we did in the last video you would
  • 00:17:52
basically create these listings for all
  • 00:17:53
    of the different cities within
  • 00:17:56
California and then it would be this
  • 00:17:58
extremely long page and this long page
  • 00:18:00
is called a pillar page at least this is
  • 00:18:03
the kind of SEO principle that I took
  • 00:18:06
inspiration from when I first built my
  • 00:18:08
    directory it's really outdated nowadays
  • 00:18:10
because when you hear about SEO nowadays
  • 00:18:12
in 2025 it's all about like programmatic
  • 00:18:15
SEO and how to get backlinks and
  • 00:18:18
Technical SEO and all of these things
  • 00:18:21
right we hear them all the time but
  • 00:18:22
there are plenty of outdated SEO tactics
  • 00:18:27
that are clearly still working today I
  • 00:18:29
could go on about different like old SEO
  • 00:18:32
tactics that still work today but yeah a
  • 00:18:34
pillar page is basically a very
  • 00:18:36
comprehensive page it's usually like a
  • 00:18:38
very long page from an SEO perspective
  • 00:18:41
the reason why a pillar page works is
  • 00:18:44
because you can rank for a ton of
  • 00:18:47
keywords within one page and we call
  • 00:18:50
those keyword clusters dog park near me
  • 00:18:52
is my main keyword that's actually what
  • 00:18:55
I'm trying to build this whole website
  • 00:18:56
around so that I could Rank and get
  • 00:18:59
    traffic from people searching that
  • 00:19:00
keyword but there's probably hundreds if
  • 00:19:03
    not literally thousands of other
  • 00:19:05
keywords that a proper pillar page will
  • 00:19:07
rank for just naturally things like dog
  • 00:19:11
beach in Long Beach Dog Park Long Beach
  • 00:19:14
off leash dog park indoor dog park dog
  • 00:19:18
park with shade it it could be so many
  • 00:19:21
keywords so to prove the value of a
  • 00:19:24
pillar page I'm going to show you the
  • 00:19:26
stats and metrics for my directory
  • 00:19:28
website s it which essentially uses the
  • 00:19:30
same structure and the same format
  • 00:19:32
obviously I'm I'm blurring this out here
  • 00:19:34
but you can see here that this URL is
  • 00:19:37
ranking for 994 keywords from just that
  • 00:19:41
one page alone and the reason for that
  • 00:19:43
is because it's a massive pillar page I
  • 00:19:45
mean it's not that big but it is a
  • 00:19:47
pillar page it's literally just all the
  • 00:19:49
listings in California for my particular
  • 00:19:51
Niche these are all keywords that I'm
  • 00:19:53
basically ranking on the first page for
  • 00:19:55
that are bringing traffic so my point is
  • 00:19:58
a pillar page is a really great way to
  • 00:20:00
just end up naturally ranking for a ton
  • 00:20:02
of different keywords if you create a
  • 00:20:04
pillar page you're going to end up
  • 00:20:06
ranking for so many other keywords that
  • 00:20:09
you weren't even planning on and that
  • 00:20:11
you frankly didn't even know exists but
  • 00:20:13
yeah so pillar page really long page
  • 00:20:16
really great for uh keyword clusters and
  • 00:20:18
ranking for multiple keywords uh great
  • 00:20:20
for internal linking if we scroll down a
  • 00:20:22
little bit you will see here basically
  • 00:20:25
added the same exact section that I
  • 00:20:27
added on the homepage this once it would
  • 00:20:29
be finished it would link to every
  • 00:20:32
single state page which would be my
  • 00:20:34
internal linking strategy it's so simple
  • 00:20:37
without going too deep into it if you
  • 00:20:39
start building back links to California
  • 00:20:42
for example your California page and you
  • 00:20:45
internal link it to all the other state
  • 00:20:47
Pages the backlink equity from that
  • 00:20:50
California page will be spread and
  • 00:20:53
distributed to all the pages that are
  • 00:20:56
internally linked so it's just really
  • 00:20:58
really powerful and not not a lot of
  • 00:21:01
people talk about pillar Pages nowadays
  • 00:21:03
it's a forgotten concept it is um it's
  • 00:21:06
    so 2010 2015 maybe so that's um that's
  • 00:21:11
like really it you know and yeah it's
  • 00:21:13
overall super super simple now that you
  • 00:21:15
pretty much have this I want to address
  • 00:21:16
something that some of the people who
  • 00:21:18
are more familiar with SEO might be
  • 00:21:20
asking right which is hey Frey you
  • 00:21:22
already know through the research here
  • 00:21:25
that dog park California gets Lally no
  • 00:21:29
search volume why would you still create
  • 00:21:33
a header one with that keyword aren't
  • 00:21:36
you just trying to rank for something
  • 00:21:38
that has no search volume and that is a
  • 00:21:40
great question uh and to that I would
  • 00:21:43
say you're actually right this is the
  • 00:21:45
lazy person's method so those keywords
  • 00:21:48
like dog park Los Angeles Dog Park Long
  • 00:21:50
Beach that get more traffic than Dog
  • 00:21:53
Park California those are all my H2S
  • 00:21:56
Long Beach Los Angeles San Diego San
  • 00:22:00
Francisco all of those are my H2S in
  • 00:22:02
this pillar page I don't even think it's
  • 00:22:04
    necessary depending on the
  • 00:22:06
competitivness of your Niche but if you
  • 00:22:09
did want to properly do this you could
  • 00:22:11
go build out a page that is just dog
  • 00:22:15
parks Los Angeles and then include all
  • 00:22:17
the listings for just the Los Angeles
  • 00:22:19
dog parks and you can segment it that
  • 00:22:21
way but now you just went from like a 50
  • 00:22:24
page website project to what could be
  • 00:22:28
100 hundreds or probably thousands of
  • 00:22:30
    different pages because you're creating
  • 00:22:32
different pages for every single City in
  • 00:22:35
my opinion this method has historically
  • 00:22:39
worked so well for me also just by
  • 00:22:41
building out this pillar page you can
  • 00:22:44
create those kind of sub Pages pretty
  • 00:22:47
quickly if this format doesn't perform
  • 00:22:50
the way you want it to be all the
  • 00:22:52
information is already on the website it
  • 00:22:53
would be like pretty quick I just wanted
  • 00:22:55
to throw that in because um it's a valid
  • 00:22:58
question question and I'm just uh my
  • 00:23:00
short answer is I'm lazy I guess and
  • 00:23:02
that it works a lot of people ask me I
  • 00:23:05
want to see what it looks like already I
  • 00:23:06
want to see you build the directory this
  • 00:23:08
is one version of the type of directory
  • 00:23:11
website that I build and I think it
  • 00:23:13
doesn't really match with what people
  • 00:23:15
expected but keep in mind this is level
  • 00:23:17
