ah a very warm welcome to my new kitchen
  • 00:00:46
I am so excited to tell you that oh it's
  • 00:00:50
been a journey 8 years ago I started my
  • 00:00:52
YouTube channel bouncing from airbnbs to
  • 00:00:57
Studio kitchens which cost a fortune
  • 00:00:59
just try to make it work and now I
  • 00:01:01
finally have a space that I can call my
  • 00:01:04
own let me show you around all right
  • 00:01:07
guys so let's talk about first up I
  • 00:01:09
guess the actual Cabinets Now I was
  • 00:01:13
deliberating for such a long time over
  • 00:01:16
what I was going to do in terms of the
  • 00:01:17
cabinets because over the past few years
  • 00:01:20
I've been you know as I said bouncing
  • 00:01:22
from Airbnb to apartment and it was
  • 00:01:25
never my own kitchen I never was able to
  • 00:01:27
put my stamp on anything and the
  • 00:01:29
kitchens that I inherited were often um
  • 00:01:33
traditional or just standard sort of
  • 00:01:35
fitted kitchens and I don't think there
  • 00:01:37
was a huge amount of Love put into each
  • 00:01:38
one of them so for example you know the
  • 00:01:42
the materials would peel or um the wood
  • 00:01:45
would sort of rot in the corner of the
  • 00:01:48
cabinets and um sometimes it wasn't even
  • 00:01:51
wood it was just like a weird fibrous
  • 00:01:53
MDF material and the kickboards would
  • 00:01:56
fall down it just it really put me off
  • 00:01:58
fitted kitchen so for a long time I was
  • 00:02:00
    thinking about actually sourcing
  • 00:02:03
    individual uh antique pieces of
  • 00:02:06
furniture and then just piecing them
  • 00:02:08
together to create surface area and
  • 00:02:11
cabinets and whatnot and I really wanted
  • 00:02:14
to do that um but after scouring the
  • 00:02:17
internet and markets and things like
  • 00:02:19
that I it just became so overwhelming
  • 00:02:21
for me and I was actually really
  • 00:02:23
stressed about it for a long time
  • 00:02:24
because at the end of the day guys this
  • 00:02:26
is my office this is where I work to
  • 00:02:28
create the content and it has to be
  • 00:02:30
perfect for my dream kitchen that I was
  • 00:02:32
building it was like 3 years planning
  • 00:02:35
just to get this space um built um so
  • 00:02:39
anyway what I ended up doing was going
  • 00:02:42
down the fitted kitchen route for these
  • 00:02:44
cabinets but I went to a local kitchen
  • 00:02:47
maker called Harrison and Pope who make
  • 00:02:51
the kitchens by hand locally and I could
  • 00:02:54
I went to the showroom and I actually
  • 00:02:55
heard the kitchens being made and I was
  • 00:02:57
like right I felt them in the showroom
  • 00:02:59
room I just knew that these were quality
  • 00:03:02
kitchens so I'm so happy I ended up
  • 00:03:05
doing it with them and they actually
  • 00:03:07
made this whole back area so all of
  • 00:03:10
these cabinets and the shelf and this is
  • 00:03:12
a very sort of traditional look to a
  • 00:03:15
kitchen with the shelf and the pegs and
  • 00:03:18
the handles because I wanted something
  • 00:03:20
that was future proof and that could
  • 00:03:22
stand the test of time I didn't want
  • 00:03:24
anything super modern or sci-fi that's
  • 00:03:28
what I call Modern stuff sci-fi it's not
  • 00:03:31
the right term but I didn't want
  • 00:03:32
anything that was just going to go out
  • 00:03:33
of date in a few years I wanted
  • 00:03:34
    something classic and Timeless that
  • 00:03:36
would fit with all of my pieces that
  • 00:03:39
I've collected over the years and the
  • 00:03:41
great thing with Harrison and Pope was
  • 00:03:43
that I could literally tell them where I
  • 00:03:45
wanted to draw where I wanted the
  • 00:03:46
cupboard which meant that gone were the
  • 00:03:49
days where if any of my friends or
  • 00:03:51
people visiting my house open up a
  • 00:03:54
    drawer I wouldn't be embarrassed cuz I
  • 00:03:56
was for so long so for example now my
  • 00:03:59
spice raw is absolutely oh it makes me
  • 00:04:03
so happy just opening it and it it makes
  • 00:04:05
things so much more efficient and when
  • 00:04:07
I'm cooking I just feel like I'm in the
  • 00:04:09
zone and that's the beauty of having
  • 00:04:11
this space now I can be fully creative
  • 00:04:14
and it's such a joy creating new recipes
  • 00:04:16
and cooking in here already in the first
  • 00:04:19
few weeks of having this kitchen I've
  • 00:04:21
created some mouth water and dishes that
  • 00:04:23
you'll be able to see soon from making
  • 00:04:26
my own pasta to making the most
  • 00:04:28
incredible salar dish all coming soon
  • 00:04:31
but it's just a joy to be in in here and
  • 00:04:35
the one thing that's so important with
  • 00:04:37
my job and film and video and photo is
  • 00:04:42
lighting so that's what I want to talk
  • 00:04:44
about next so you know what I could have
  • 00:04:48
done is had a load of long big glass
  • 00:04:51
panels but for me again that would be
  • 00:04:53
very sort of modern and I wanted that
  • 00:04:55
traditional look so I opted for a
  • 00:04:57
smaller window just in front of my sink
  • 00:04:59
so I can look out at the chickens which
  • 00:05:01
is always very fun in my garden and
  • 00:05:04
these big roof light Windows which let
  • 00:05:07
him floods a light so that it's perfect
  • 00:05:10
for filming and for video and just food
  • 00:05:13
in general it makes me want to come into
  • 00:05:15
this space I think you know going
  • 00:05:17
forward now wherever I live um if I
  • 00:05:19
don't live here forever that is I'll
  • 00:05:21
always um dedicate you know a lot of
  • 00:05:24
attention to finding a place with lots
  • 00:05:27
of natural light I think that's so
  • 00:05:29
important to me I'm learning that all
  • 00:05:31
right so what makes me so happy actually
  • 00:05:34
is this sink and I I told Harrison and
  • 00:05:37
Pope the kitchen cabinet makers that I
  • 00:05:39
needed a big sink my last uh sink that I
  • 00:05:42
had in the kitchen I inherited was so
  • 00:05:44
small that it just made it so difficult
  • 00:05:46
to wash up and now I got this big one I
  • 00:05:48
could almost have a bath in this I may
  • 00:05:50
do one day just because I love the
  • 00:05:52
kitchen so much and then along with it
  • 00:05:54
this sort of antique brass I wanted this
  • 00:05:57
kitchen to look like it been cooked in
  • 00:05:59
and used for years and years and years
  • 00:06:01
prior to me being here and having things
  • 00:06:04
like this antique brass is uh I mean it
  • 00:06:07
just gives it that look and
  • 00:06:09
also I've been collecting sort of plates
  • 00:06:12
and bowls and and little props for such
  • 00:06:16
a long time now if you come and have a
  • 00:06:18
look at this so these make me so happy
  • 00:06:21
these are Old Pottery boards so from the
  • 00:06:24
north of England I think basically in
  • 00:06:26
Old Potters they would form their clay
  • 00:06:29
pots on the pottery wheel and then put
  • 00:06:31
their uh pots to dry on these boards and
  • 00:06:35
um they had years and years and years of
  • 00:06:37
use of them and I got them from an
  • 00:06:39
amazing home store called Bailey's and I
  • 00:06:42
gave them to my Builder to use as a
  • 00:06:43
window sill and he was he looked at me
  • 00:06:45
all confused cuz you thought why do you
  • 00:06:47
want these Tatty old boards but the look
  • 00:06:49
of them it just looks aged and it gives
  • 00:06:51
me that texture and I love love love
  • 00:06:53
texture so much and I've been collecting
  • 00:06:56
plates and bowls and ornaments from Mark
  • 00:06:59
it's for so many years now and I've
  • 00:07:01
always dreamt of having a place where I
  • 00:07:03
can put them and they just look at home
  • 00:07:05
and I feel like just looking at these
  • 00:07:07
plates with my homegrown Beach shoots in
  • 00:07:09
and the balls there just looks like it's
  • 00:07:12
meant to be and that makes me so happy I
  • 00:07:14
love the little things in life the nice
  • 00:07:16
things in life I like nice things as
  • 00:07:19
David Beckham the great philosopher once
  • 00:07:22
said but it's important to me I think
  • 00:07:24
that's what life's all about is
  • 00:07:25
expressing that creativity and and um
  • 00:07:28
    reusing things
  • 00:07:30
so I'm very grateful of those sort of
  • 00:07:32
old boards and the antique brass tap oh
  • 00:07:36
it makes me so happy guys this is is
  • 00:07:38
really great and I found some Bargains
  • 00:07:40
along the way too when looking at um
  • 00:07:43
reused stuff or and I've been on
  • 00:07:46
Facebook Marketplace and going to Market
  • 00:07:48
uh markets a lot and the one thing I did
  • 00:07:50
find an absolute bargain was this big
  • 00:07:53
mirror mirror what I'm on about I mean
  • 00:07:57
window gosh had night last night but
  • 00:08:00
anyway that window is from Facebook
  • 00:08:04
Marketplace a old stained glass window I
  • 00:08:06
got it for 18 180 and the original
  • 00:08:09
winner that was going to be put in there
  • 00:08:11
was going to be have to be handmade to
  • 00:08:12
find one that size and circular it was
  • 00:08:14
going to cost over 2,000 so oh my God
  • 00:08:18
the more sort of old pieces that I can
  • 00:08:20
reuse the better and I'm so grateful for
  • 00:08:23
that window adds a little bit of
  • 00:08:25
character which is great and talking of
  • 00:08:27
    Facebook Marketplace I actually picked
  • 00:08:29
up this island on there this is a over
  • 00:08:32
100y old French antique shop counter so
  • 00:08:37
it's not a traditional Island but the
  • 00:08:39
island was a bit of a headache for me I
  • 00:08:42
knew that I wanted something reclaimed
  • 00:08:44
and old to sort of just work nicely with
  • 00:08:47
the new cabinets and I found this island
  • 00:08:50
on Facebook Marketplace and I think that
  • 00:08:52
rusticness of it with the paint chip in
  • 00:08:55
and the dark wood on top really sets off
  • 00:08:58
nicely with everything else behind me
  • 00:09:00
it's a little bit low than I would like
  • 00:09:04
really I could prop it up but um I think
  • 00:09:08
for now I'm going to use it and we'll
  • 00:09:10
see what happens in the future whether
  • 00:09:11
I'll keep this island what do you guys
  • 00:09:13
think of it do you think this is a good
  • 00:09:15
look for the kitchen I love the color
  • 00:09:17
actually of it on the front so yeah
  • 00:09:21
    another great Facebook Marketplace fine
  • 00:09:23
I'm so grateful for Facebook Marketplace
  • 00:09:25
actually um but actually nonvert virtual
  • 00:09:29
markets I often go to all the time so
  • 00:09:32
    in-person markets antique flea markets
  • 00:09:35
you will see me at them because that's
  • 00:09:37
where you get a bargain and you this you
  • 00:09:39
know things were made with so much more
  • 00:09:40
care and attention years and years ago
  • 00:09:43
as they were uh as they are nowadays
  • 00:09:45
unfortunately other than this kitchen by
  • 00:09:47
Harrison and Pope I must say but often
  • 00:09:50
you'll see bowls that are over a hundred
  • 00:09:53
years old in my videos that I didn't
  • 00:09:55
spend a huge fortune on but their
  • 00:09:57
quality and they have texure and they
  • 00:09:59
have life and they have stories locked
  • 00:10:00
within them and that's the story of this
  • 00:10:02
whole kitchen actually you know this
  • 00:10:05
pain in here it's actually over 100
  • 00:10:07
years old and you know most people may
  • 00:10:10
say that it looks a bit Tatty now that
  • 00:10:12
it's it's torn and things like that but
  • 00:10:15
to me that's The Rustic charm and it's
  • 00:10:17
    absolutely Sensational talking of
  • 00:10:19
Bargains and antiques these copper pans
  • 00:10:22
actually I found at a market all four of
  • 00:10:25
    them for1 15s I think that's the beauty
  • 00:10:27
of going to markets and you know I go
  • 00:10:30
there with a list actually of things
  • 00:10:32
that I need and copper pans to hang
  • 00:10:34
behind my stove were on the list and I
  • 00:10:37
will come to the stove in a minute
  • 00:10:39
because I got a great story about that
  • 00:10:40
    but this
  • 00:10:42
little tin I picked up at a market years
  • 00:10:45
ago I can't even remember how long ago
  • 00:10:46
but it's just been sitting around and
  • 00:10:48
just waiting to be put on a a shelf like
  • 00:10:52
this and be celebrated and I don't know
  • 00:10:54
when what year that came from but it
  • 00:10:56
just makes me happy and um the jar
  • 00:10:59
I've always dreamt of having jars like
  • 00:11:02
this filled with my ingredients oh it
  • 00:11:04
sounds nice with the rain coming down
  • 00:11:06
now um you know I make my teas in the
  • 00:11:08
morning I got my Camal and my lemon Bal
  • 00:11:11
and my lavender and it's just I feel
  • 00:11:13
like I've got that Apothecary Vibe I
  • 00:11:15
    love old school apothecaries and
  • 00:11:17
herbalism in general hence why I got
  • 00:11:19
this old sign there and uh soon with
  • 00:11:22
these beautiful pegs I'll have all of my
  • 00:11:25
    homegrown ingredients um hanging on
  • 00:11:28
there I've got at some homegrown sage
  • 00:11:30
and Candela and garlic there at the
  • 00:11:32
minute but eventually in the summer time
  • 00:11:35
these pegs will be utilized for drying
  • 00:11:38
my ingredients and it'll make the
  • 00:11:39
    kitchen like seasonal almost with
  • 00:11:41
whatever's in season at the minute
  • 00:11:43
you'll see it hanging um so let's talk
  • 00:11:46
    about this stove oh my
  • 00:11:49
word I've always dreamt of having a big
  • 00:11:52
stove like this and this one is made by
  • 00:11:55
ilve an Italian stove maker and they
  • 00:11:58
just make the most dreamy stoves I my
  • 00:12:02
analogy for this is like a a pianist's
  • 00:12:05
grand piano this is my grand piano it's
  • 00:12:08
got so many Hobs I don't even know what
  • 00:12:11
to do with them all but I'm probably
  • 00:12:12
going to have to do a dinner party soon
  • 00:12:14
where I'm utilizing the mall and I can
  • 00:12:17
have a pan on each one I'm cooking up
  • 00:12:19
some amazing food so as soon as I get a
  • 00:12:21
dinner table that's coming soon I'll do
  • 00:12:24
a big dinner party using this amazing
  • 00:12:26
stove but right now I'm just using the
  • 00:12:27
the front ones but this stove is
  • 00:12:30
beautiful I love the colorway with the
  • 00:12:32
brass and the silver it just works well
  • 00:12:35
with everything and the colors in here
  • 00:12:37
are very neutral and earthy that's what
  • 00:12:40
I was trying to go for and lots of
  • 00:12:42
people in response to the Instagram
  • 00:12:44
video I made about my kitchen said oh
  • 00:12:47
where on Earth is your splashback you're
  • 00:12:49
going to get stuff all over the wall
  • 00:12:52
they could be true initially I was going
  • 00:12:54
to have old chopping boards like this
  • 00:12:57
    stacked up against it
  • 00:13:00
but because of this sort of upstand um
  • 00:13:03
here they don't really fit behind it so
  • 00:13:04
I'm going to I'm going to work on that
  • 00:13:07
but right now I'm using the front Hobs I
  • 00:13:09
have used the back Hobs but I'm not
  • 00:13:11
tossing things in a pan at the back
  • 00:13:12
there so there's very little chance of
  • 00:13:14
anything splashing on there and worst
  • 00:13:16
case scenario I would just sit up a
  • 00:13:18
board there or just repaint it if
  • 00:13:20
anything was to happen um but we'll
  • 00:13:24
address that maybe in the future if I
  • 00:13:26
feel like I need a splashback so IL
  • 00:13:29
thank you so much that is a work of art
  • 00:13:32
and it just completes the kitchen I'm so
  • 00:13:34
so over the moon with it it is just
  • 00:13:38
amazing it's a pleasure to work in here
  • 00:13:40
I get my little coffee pot in the
  • 00:13:42
mornings I put that on there and it's
  • 00:13:44
just a it's just amazing I feel so
  • 00:13:46
grateful for this space I feel so
  • 00:13:48
creative in here and I've longed for
  • 00:13:50
that you know it's been it's been
  • 00:13:52
actually hard to create um and be
  • 00:13:54
creative in the previous kitchen I had
  • 00:13:58
um and cooking out side for the last 3
  • 00:13:59
years is so challenging especially when
  • 00:14:01
you're filming so being in here now and
  • 00:14:04
having this freedom is just the most
  • 00:14:06
amazing thing I'm so grateful for it
  • 00:14:08
that's what life is all about for me
  • 00:14:10
cooking and creating and I can finally
  • 00:14:12
do it and the lighting is just H it's
  • 00:14:14
just beautiful all right so the next
  • 00:14:16
thing I'm going to talk about is a real
  • 00:14:18
luxury and a game Cher for me in my in
  • 00:14:22
the kitchen that I inherited from the
  • 00:14:23
previous owners of this house I H they
  • 00:14:27
left behind a tap that I just thought
  • 00:14:30
was a sink and a tap but what I realized
  • 00:14:33
    is actually a boiling water
  • 00:14:37
tap it wasn't this one this one is made
  • 00:14:40
by the incredible Kettle a British brand
  • 00:14:43
that makes 100° Celsius boiling water on
  • 00:14:46
top so for me you know when I'm cooking
  • 00:14:49
especially when I'm filming there's not
  • 00:14:52
much time to wait for things it's almost
  • 00:14:54
like being back in the professional
  • 00:14:56
kitchens and having to serve up food as
  • 00:14:58
quickly as possible so having boiling
  • 00:15:00
water on tap and not having to wait for
  • 00:15:02
a kettle to boil is such a game Cher it
  • 00:15:06
is a privilege and it is is just
  • 00:15:09
unbelievable it also has an option for
  • 00:15:11
filtered water too so drinking drinkable
  • 00:15:14
filtered water takes out all the
  • 00:15:16
chemicals and that is amazing for me so
  • 00:15:19
having this is an absolute Joy thank you
  • 00:15:22
for Kettle um just whilst we're here I
  • 00:15:25
just want to shout out to my beautiful
  • 00:15:27
perso old coffee grinder another amazing
  • 00:15:31
find at the market and again this
  • 00:15:34
actually works I put my coffee beans in
  • 00:15:36
here and I grind it and I make a coffee
  • 00:15:39
so the old stuff is old but it's
  • 00:15:43
wellmade and uh look at that painting
  • 00:15:46
that's another old ancient painting that
  • 00:15:48
I found at the market for an affordable
  • 00:15:51
price we need to start going to markets
  • 00:15:52
way way more so into here this is a
  • 00:15:57
little walkway out to the Garden so out
  • 00:15:59
to my vegetable garden imagine me in a
  • 00:16:01
few months time when my Garden's
  • 00:16:03
thriving I'm coming in with my basket of
  • 00:16:05
goods and I can wash them and I can cook
  • 00:16:07
with them right away I also have a
  • 00:16:09
little fridge tucked behind here too
  • 00:16:12
because obviously this is a very
  • 00:16:13
traditional looking kitchen I wanted to
  • 00:16:16
have sort of very limited tech
  • 00:16:19
technology on show and I feel like
  • 00:16:22
fridges they're very spaces Shippy to me
  • 00:16:24
they look like a spaceship so I tucked
  • 00:16:27
it around the corner there um so that's
  • 00:16:31
that I think I must mention the walls
  • 00:16:34
cuz that's garnered a lot of interest on
  • 00:16:37
Instagram when I posted a video of the
  • 00:16:39
kitchen so as you can see by these walls
  • 00:16:41
they have so much depth and texture and
  • 00:16:44
again it goes along the lines of me not
  • 00:16:46
wanting this kitchen to feel like a
  • 00:16:47
brand new sparkling kitchen I wanted
  • 00:16:51
this to feel rustic and old and lived in
  • 00:16:55
and a lot to do with that is the actual
  • 00:16:58
wall this is a brand new wall but just
  • 00:17:00
been built but I asked my Builder if he
  • 00:17:03
could use some trai traditional plaster
  • 00:17:06
so we use lime and hemp plaster believe
  • 00:17:09
it or not and I told the plasterers to
  • 00:17:12
apply it to the walls as if I was doing
  • 00:17:15
it some someone that's never plastered
  • 00:17:17
in their life I wanted to be rough and
  • 00:17:20
you know have inconsistencies and Trel
  • 00:17:23
marks and texture texture is so
  • 00:17:25
important to me I love texture from
  • 00:17:27
linen bed sheets to my clothing I like
  • 00:17:30
real texture so they applied it they
  • 00:17:33
looked at me weirdly at first but it
  • 00:17:35
came out beautifully and then I used the
  • 00:17:37
most amazing lime wash paint from bow
  • 00:17:40
work my dad and I mainly my dad painted
  • 00:17:43
the Ws I did this wall and with this
  • 00:17:45
line wash paint it actually gives this
  • 00:17:47
an amazing you get different colors
  • 00:17:49
within the wall like shades of it it's
  • 00:17:51
    beautiful actually just using special
  • 00:17:54
technique when you're painting it with a
  • 00:17:56
brush so I'm so happy with the color and
  • 00:17:58
the Sun has come out on it now this is a
  • 00:18:00
June it's called the the color is called
  • 00:18:02
June and I love the finish it really
  • 00:18:05
looks good it's very earthy and natural
  • 00:18:07
it reminds me of my time spent in Mexico
  • 00:18:10
we filmed a documentary there and they
  • 00:18:12
have the richest colors and textures in
  • 00:18:15
all of their buildings we're going to
  • 00:18:17
head down to my pantry stroke utility
  • 00:18:20
room now so this is a dream for me to
  • 00:18:23
have this extra space down the back um
  • 00:18:26
and again like I mentioned this is great
  • 00:18:28
for me for my work which is you know
  • 00:18:31
    filming and having a prep
  • 00:18:34
area so having this extra space is
  • 00:18:36
beautiful we use the same paint but a
  • 00:18:39
different color more of a yellow color
  • 00:18:41
and as you can see again the this is
  • 00:18:44
fitted by Harrison and Pope the kitchen
  • 00:18:46
they handmade these units and this is
  • 00:18:51
you have to remember as well because I
  • 00:18:53
also do popup restaurants and events
  • 00:18:57
from time to time I have a load of
  • 00:18:59
equipment so when it comes to blenders
  • 00:19:01
for my work I have three blenders or you
  • 00:19:04
know this cupboard is full up with you
  • 00:19:07
know all my equipment here I have
  • 00:19:09
multiples of certain pieces of equipment
  • 00:19:12
so I need a load of space Sorry I'm
  • 00:19:13
growing my hair and it's getting in my
  • 00:19:15
eyes anyway again we went for this
  • 00:19:17
traditional look I haven't quite sort of
  • 00:19:19
filled the shelves yet again I've got
  • 00:19:21
the Old Clay boards there the window
  • 00:19:24
sill and this beautiful sink that I
  • 00:19:27
really wanted is this almost scalloped
  • 00:19:29
in the front beautiful sink here just
  • 00:19:32
for washing up whilst there's filming
  • 00:19:34
going on or washing my vegetables that I
  • 00:19:36
just picked I use this area to make
  • 00:19:39
coffee and I have a fridge in here too
  • 00:19:42
um what else do we talk about in here I
  • 00:19:45
love the lighting in here it's a little
  • 00:19:47
bit different it does get quite Moody
  • 00:19:48
cuz it's not that there's not that big
  • 00:19:51
of Windows and it's I'm under trees
  • 00:19:53
basically um outside but what I did in
  • 00:19:57
here recently was make gravioli and
  • 00:19:59
pastor and I haven't been able to sort
  • 00:20:01
of feel at home in the kitchen for so
  • 00:20:03
long to feel like I can be adventurous
  • 00:20:06
and make like pasta from scratch and
  • 00:20:08
being able to do that in here rote it
  • 00:20:10
out long on the surface was just amazing
  • 00:20:12
    I felt such a joy and that's something I
  • 00:20:16
realized is that if you have a hobby or
  • 00:20:18
a passion you need to make sure that you
  • 00:20:20
have a a workpace or an environment that
  • 00:20:23
makes you feel comfortable and creative
  • 00:20:25
to to do that passion so whether you
  • 00:20:28
love to paint make sure that you take a
  • 00:20:31
little time to invest the the effort to
  • 00:20:35
set up a corner of your room or your I
  • 00:20:38
don't know in your house just to make
  • 00:20:40
sure that you you have that creative
  • 00:20:42
freedom to just feel like you can just
  • 00:20:45
paint and and get your mind out there
  • 00:20:47
and and be adventurous I think I think
  • 00:20:50
creativity is what life's about really
  • 00:20:53
and getting in touch with that side as I
  • 00:20:55
said there's still bits to do in here
  • 00:20:57
eventually as I mentioned there will be
  • 00:20:59
    herbes and and ingredients drying
  • 00:21:01
everywhere I do have a dishwasher here
  • 00:21:03
actually which is very handy um and the
  • 00:21:06
reason I got it down the back here is
  • 00:21:08
because you know if I have to have a
  • 00:21:09
dish dishwash going um whilst I'm
  • 00:21:13
filming it's less noisy down the back
  • 00:21:15
and I have my washing machine so I wash
  • 00:21:17
my clothes what I've realized is that
  • 00:21:20
modern everyday pieces of equipment from
  • 00:21:24
your drying racks for clothes they're
  • 00:21:26
often not well built they're plastic you
  • 00:21:28
know plastic and you know they could
  • 00:21:30
break or they they just don't look the
  • 00:21:32
parts so I just invested in a nice
  • 00:21:34
wooden one that's going to last a long
  • 00:21:36
time and it also you know that's just a
  • 00:21:38
dry and rack for clothes but it looks
  • 00:21:40
nice in here so I just decided to get
  • 00:21:45
things like that even like my mop bucket
  • 00:21:47
this will actually make me want to mop
  • 00:21:49
my floors um because it just looks so
  • 00:21:51
nice and it works well with the
  • 00:21:53
kitchen so um I think that's gone of the
  • 00:21:58
days where I will buy just something out
  • 00:22:01
of necessity I will now always take time
  • 00:22:05
to consider how long I'm I'm going to
  • 00:22:08
how much use I'm actually going to get
  • 00:22:09
out of whatever it is I'm buying to make
  • 00:22:11
sure I'm buying a quality piece that
  • 00:22:13
looks good and also lasts a long time um
  • 00:22:16
because you know there's so many
  • 00:22:18
throwaway items these days things break
  • 00:22:20
on us but I try and get longer lasting
  • 00:22:24
um things um I did just mention the
  • 00:22:26
floor and a lot of people did mention it
  • 00:22:28
to me when I posted the video on
  • 00:22:29
Instagram what is this floor now this is
  • 00:22:32
literally just concrete or the screed
  • 00:22:35
that the builders put down and most
  • 00:22:38
people would just put their flooring on
  • 00:22:41
top whether they want carpet or laminate
  • 00:22:43
flooring or wood flooring straight on
  • 00:22:45
top of here but budgets are tight and to
  • 00:22:48
do this space that I needed to fill
  • 00:22:51
would have cost absolute Fortune so
  • 00:22:53
initially I did want real nice wood
  • 00:22:56
flooring but maybe later on one day in
  • 00:22:59
the future I eventually decide to to put
  • 00:23:02
wood down but for now I'm just happy
  • 00:23:04
with this look concrete look it works
  • 00:23:07
    all right with the
  • 00:23:08
rugs all right so that's the utility
  • 00:23:11
room done this is where my big dinner
  • 00:23:14
table's going to go and I just put my my
  • 00:23:17
rings here to do a little stretch I'll
  • 00:23:19
probably have to get rid of these when I
  • 00:23:20
get a wife that tells me you can't have
  • 00:23:22
rings for doing pull-ups in the dining
  • 00:23:25
room until then my rings are staying all
  • 00:23:28
right right so anyway big dinner tables
  • 00:23:31
going here and I can't wait to just to
  • 00:23:35
get a nice big old antique dresser on
  • 00:23:38
this wall here but anyway back in the
  • 00:23:40
kitchen I'm going to answer a few
  • 00:23:43
questions that were sent over via
  • 00:23:45
Instagram now about the space I'm going
  • 00:23:47
to pick five of them so let's have a
  • 00:23:49
    look what was sent
  • 00:23:50
in the first one actually just popped up
  • 00:23:53
what's going on with your hair I'm
  • 00:23:54
growing my hair that's why it keeps
  • 00:23:56
getting in my eyes so you have to bear
  • 00:23:58
with with me I'm I'm at that stage where
  • 00:24:00
it's starting to get annoying but
  • 00:24:01
fingers crossed soon I'll have luscious
  • 00:24:03
long locks that will be blowing in the
  • 00:24:05
    wind in the
  • 00:24:07
garden anyway I have another question
  • 00:24:09
where did I get the nice brown shelves
  • 00:24:12
from which I didn't talk about earlier
  • 00:24:15
    these shelves are actually really
  • 00:24:19
beautiful and they work so well in the
  • 00:24:20
kitchen they're from another flea market
  • 00:24:23
I found them not expensive and I always
  • 00:24:26
love the idea of having my ingredients
  • 00:24:28
in the jars they're visible as I said
  • 00:24:31
before get the get your ingredients from
  • 00:24:34
sort of refill shops or in bulk and
  • 00:24:36
you'll bu be buying less packaging and
  • 00:24:39
invest in some jars and everything looks
  • 00:24:41
great I think that's such a nice look
  • 00:24:43
for a kitchen it actually adds character
  • 00:24:45
but it's actually just what you need
  • 00:24:47
it's your ingredients so they have got
  • 00:24:49
to be in the kitchen somewhere to put
  • 00:24:50
them in some some nice jars I got my
  • 00:24:52
plates from Mexico that I brought back
  • 00:24:54
from Mexico here and my friend's Pottery
  • 00:24:57
brand called nom live in made in
  • 00:24:59
Cambodia there my amran that I grew last
  • 00:25:02
year dried out and it's just a beautiful
  • 00:25:04
display yeah that's where I got the
  • 00:25:06
shows from someone called Lauren says
  • 00:25:09
what's your inspiration or where did you
  • 00:25:11
get it from I think the inspiration has
  • 00:25:14
basically being a combination of cooking
  • 00:25:17
over the years traveling and collecting
  • 00:25:21
old stuff from markets basically and I
  • 00:25:23
just wanted a place to Showcase that and
  • 00:25:26
    a an earthy natural space
  • 00:25:28
that my creativity can shine Jake says
  • 00:25:32
is there any part of the kitchen you
  • 00:25:34
wish you could change that's a good
  • 00:25:35
question now you know you always want to
  • 00:25:39
there's almost nothing can be perfect um
  • 00:25:42
but I'm so grateful for this space and
  • 00:25:44
it makes me so happy but there's a few
  • 00:25:46
things that I've learned along the way
  • 00:25:47
because I've never done anything like
  • 00:25:49
this before I've never done proper
  • 00:25:51
interior desiging and um you know
  • 00:25:54
building a space so probably the one
  • 00:25:57
thing that I would have done differently
  • 00:25:58
I wish I could have got proper beautiful
  • 00:26:01
sash windows which are old school
  • 00:26:03
windows but they're so expensive I kind
  • 00:26:06
of wish there's a bit more texture in
  • 00:26:08
the surfaces but real marble and natural
  • 00:26:11
like marble is so expensive so I gone
  • 00:26:13
for quartz which is really nice and it's
  • 00:26:15
Hardy and it's not going to stain but I
  • 00:26:17
just wish there was a bit more of a
  • 00:26:18
grain in it a bit more graphic almost um
  • 00:26:22
    but that's it I'm I'm literally
  • 00:26:24
overjoyed and over the moon with it it's
  • 00:26:27
    it's it's out of the this world I'm I I
  • 00:26:29
it doesn't feel real real I feel like
  • 00:26:31
I'm going to wake up from a dream
  • 00:26:32
sometime soon and this is not going to
  • 00:26:34
    be my
  • 00:26:35
kitchen um I'm going to find one more
  • 00:26:39
question um we got will you be my
  • 00:26:42
husband uh when will you visit India I'd
  • 00:26:44
love to visit India uh someone says how
  • 00:26:47
much you'll have to ask the bank where I
  • 00:26:50
loan the money from um what hair
  • 00:26:53
    products do I
  • 00:26:54
use I'm trying to make my own that'll be
  • 00:26:57
a video coming soon actually I'm working
  • 00:26:58
on a recipe for my own so I don't want
  • 00:27:00
any chemicals on my head um all right I
  • 00:27:03
think we'll leave it there cuz there's a
  • 00:27:05
lot of do you want a wife and random
  • 00:27:08
    [Music]

  • 00:27:17
very beginning Where I Stood behind a
  • 00:27:19

  • 00:27:20
Airbnb um nervous as hell so anxious um
  • 00:27:25
to the people that have joined recently
  • 00:27:27
and everyone between thank you so much
  • 00:27:30
it means the world this feels a bit
  • 00:27:33
overwhelming for me now the fact that
  • 00:27:35
I've invested in this means now I have
  • 00:27:36
to make it worth my while and I have to
  • 00:27:39
produce a load of content and utilize it
  • 00:27:42
to the max so that I haven't just wasted
  • 00:27:46
time and money I'm not too worried about
  • 00:27:48
it because I know this space is going to
  • 00:27:50
bring the best out of me and um we'll
  • 00:27:53
you know I'm going to create some
  • 00:27:54
incredible stuff in this kitchen so I
  • 00:27:58
just want to say huge thank you to
  • 00:27:59
everyone that's helped build it from my
  • 00:28:01

  • 00:28:18
want to thank Tom for all his hard work
  • 00:28:21
filming outside with me in treacherous
  • 00:28:24
conditions in the cold for so long whil
  • 00:28:27
