Timeline

  • 00:00:00 - 00:05:00

This video is a crypto masterclass aiming to answer various questions people have asked about getting started in crypto, such as buying, selling, storing crypto, and the choice between exchanges and wallets. It will cover basics suitable for any experience level, aimed at reducing confusion and providing necessary guidance for safely beginning crypto investments.

  • 00:05:00 - 00:10:00

The introduction provides the speaker's background: Alex Gomez, who became interested in crypto in 2020. With experience gained from writing blogs and working with Gary Vee's company about NFTs, Alex explains the masterclass will focus on sharing fundamental knowledge about crypto without promising overnight success but ensuring a secure and informed start in the crypto world.

  • 00:10:00 - 00:15:00

The video explains that cryptocurrency is essentially digital currency used for peer-to-peer transactions without intermediaries, and highlights the two main types: coins (like Ethereum on its own blockchain) and tokens (like meme tokens on existing blockchains). It briefly defines the blockchain as a decentralized digital ledger that maintains network transparency and security.

  • 00:15:00 - 00:20:00

Blockchains ensure network security and uptime through decentralization. There are numerous blockchains, each with varying transaction fees, which depend on network congestion. Popular blockchains like Ethereum can have high fees when crowded, unlike cheaper alternatives such as Solana. Users can manage fees by monitoring network activity or opting for different blockchains.

  • 00:20:00 - 00:25:00

Choosing which blockchain network to use is crucial when transferring crypto from exchanges to wallets. Different networks like Ethereum or Solana have unique features and transaction costs. Wallets do not store crypto but provide tools for managing keys associated with crypto accounts on blockchains. Importance of seed phrases and various types of keys (master, private, public) is explained.

  • 00:25:00 - 00:30:00

The segment discusses storage options: custodial (exchanges control keys) versus non-custodial (user controls keys). It highlights risks associated with custodial storage—exchanges can freeze funds—and advantages of non-custodial wallets for full control. Two main types, hot (online, more vulnerable) and cold (offline, more secure) wallets, are utilized based on user trust and risk management preferences.

  • 00:30:00 - 00:35:00

Emphasizing crypto security, particularly seed phrase protection is crucial. The master key for regaining wallet access, it should be written and stored securely. Cold wallets are recommended for secure storage over exchanges or hot wallets. Wallet types with secure chips, ease of use, and cross-device compatibility are reviewed, ensuring user-friendly and secure experience.

  • 00:35:00 - 00:40:00

Top recommended wallets are Tangem, favored for user-friendliness, and Ledger, known for broader use capabilities and high-security features. Considerations for choosing wallets include security (pttection features, audits), user-friendliness (ease of setup and app functionality), coin support (available cryptocurrencies), and compatibility (device use).

  • 00:40:00 - 00:45:00

Using exchanges and wallets for trading: exchanges for buying/selling crypto; cold wallets offer on-device purchases with higher fees. Swapping cryptocurrencies within exchanges is straightforward, while cold wallets provide convenience but incur extra costs. Sending crypto involves verifying and securing public addresses between sending and receiving parties, reflecting user's control over transactions.

  • 00:45:00 - 00:52:54

Conveys common crypto scams like phishing and impersonation, illustrating tactics employed such as fraudulent emails or websites enticing users to expose their private information. To secure crypto, use of cold wallets is advised, keeping seed phrases confidential, and cautious website connections, offers overall safety strategies. Ends by encouraging cold wallet use for security while responding to queries.

we're going to cover in this master
  • 00:00:23
class and it doesn't matter where you're
  • 00:00:26
at in your journey if you're just
  • 00:00:27
    getting started and you're thinking
  • 00:00:29
about buying crypto or maybe you already
  • 00:00:30
own crypto when it's on a crypto
  • 00:00:31
exchange or in a hot wallet or in a cold
  • 00:00:35
wallet there's a lot of stuff to be to
  • 00:00:37
cover in between all that and that's
  • 00:00:39
exactly what we're going to go over so
  • 00:00:41
it doesn't matter your level of
  • 00:00:42
experience I think you're going to find
  • 00:00:43
    this master class extremely valuable
  • 00:00:45
because out of those 10,000 comments I'm
  • 00:00:48
answering as many of those questions as
  • 00:00:50
I can with some live examples um on this
  • 00:00:55
slideshow so let's jump right into it
  • 00:00:56
starting with who I am my name is Alex
  • 00:00:58
Gomez I got started in crypto in late
  • 00:01:01
2020 buying some eth and some other
  • 00:01:03
random crypto stuff and I noticed almost
  • 00:01:07
instantly that there was a lack of
  • 00:01:08
    educational content on the internet
  • 00:01:11
about crypto so I set out to share my
  • 00:01:14
journey of everything that I was
  • 00:01:16
learning and I created the website
  • 00:01:18
cybers sca.com I started writing various
  • 00:01:21
blogs about crypto when at the time nfts
  • 00:01:24
were super popular and that was kind of
  • 00:01:25
    like my
  • 00:01:26
    expertise and eventually that turned
  • 00:01:29
into something more I started working
  • 00:01:31
for Gary ve doing the same thing I was
  • 00:01:33
    writing about crypto blockchain and
  • 00:01:36
nft um for his company 137 p.m I got to
  • 00:01:40
meet him at a couple conferences and I
  • 00:01:43
worked for him for about six months
  • 00:01:46
worked with a lot of different brands
  • 00:01:47
who were interested about getting into
  • 00:01:49
crypto did that for six months in that
  • 00:01:52
time I had started my own YouTube
  • 00:01:53
channel cyber scrilla which is what
  • 00:01:55
you're watching right now and it really
  • 00:01:57
started to take off so I decided I need
  • 00:02:00
to focus all on cyers scrilla and
  • 00:02:02
continue sharing everything that I was
  • 00:02:04
learning on this channel and fast
  • 00:02:06
forward to today and that's exactly what
  • 00:02:08
I'm still doing so that's why I'm so
  • 00:02:10
excited for this master class because
  • 00:02:12
this is basically everything that I've
  • 00:02:13
learned since I got started in 20120 and
  • 00:02:17
working with a bunch of different people
  • 00:02:18
in the industry um this isn't a how to
  • 00:02:20
make 100K overnight master class this is
  • 00:02:24
    the fundamentals of crypto everything
  • 00:02:26
you need to know to get started and
  • 00:02:29
continue onward with crypto uh the space
  • 00:02:32
is moving extremely fast it's extremely
  • 00:02:36
confusing and my goal with this video is
  • 00:02:38
to make it a little less confusing is it
  • 00:02:40
going to answer every single question
  • 00:02:41
you have no you'll probably come out of
  • 00:02:43
the master class with more questions and
  • 00:02:45
that's exactly what you want you want to
  • 00:02:46
start questioning stuff but this is
  • 00:02:48
going to give you everything you need to
  • 00:02:50
get started comfortably and to secure
  • 00:02:52
your crypto and not get scam because
  • 00:02:54
that's what happens to most people so
  • 00:02:56
again we're going to cover the crypto
  • 00:02:57
Basics blockchain technology uh how to
  • 00:03:00
manage your crypto and crypto security
  • 00:03:03
    and then everything in
  • 00:03:05
    between starting with what is
  • 00:03:08
crypto the simplest way to explain
  • 00:03:10
crypto is that it's digital currency
  • 00:03:13
without any middlemen required you don't
  • 00:03:15
need a bank or any centralized entity uh
  • 00:03:18
to send crypto to someone else it's all
  • 00:03:20
peer-to-peer but I'm not going to go too
  • 00:03:23
deep on what crypto is or like the
  • 00:03:24
Bitcoin white paper all you need to know
  • 00:03:26
is that it's a digital currency and it's
  • 00:03:29
    peer-to-peer
  • 00:03:31
now there's actually two types of
  • 00:03:34
cryptocurrencies well two main types of
  • 00:03:36
cryptocurrencies that a lot of people
  • 00:03:37
aren't even aware of and that is coins
  • 00:03:40
and tokens so coins are cryptocurrencies
  • 00:03:44
that have their own blockchain network
  • 00:03:46
an example of a coin is eth that's the
  • 00:03:49
    native currency for the ethereum
  • 00:03:51
    blockchain network and these
  • 00:03:54
    cryptocurrencies coins are used for
  • 00:03:56
    paying transaction fees on these
  • 00:03:58
networks then you have tokens tokens are
  • 00:04:01
built on existing blockchain networks um
  • 00:04:04
in this example pork is a meme token on
  • 00:04:07
top of the ethereum blockchain network
  • 00:04:09
so even if I'm sending pork to different
  • 00:04:11
wallets or I'm swapping or selling pork
  • 00:04:15
I'm not paying for those fees in the
  • 00:04:17
pork token I'm always paying in ethereum
  • 00:04:21
or eth because that's ethereum's native
  • 00:04:23
coin that's what's used to pay for these
  • 00:04:26
transactions but what is a blockchain
  • 00:04:29
you know you could could spend you can
  • 00:04:30
have a whole Master Class probably a
  • 00:04:31
whole College course on this so again
  • 00:04:33
I'm not going to go super deep but
  • 00:04:35
basically it's a digital Ledger that
  • 00:04:38
    records transactions
  • 00:04:41
transparently um and it is decentralized
  • 00:04:43
meaning there's not one entity that
  • 00:04:46
controls it it's controlled by people
  • 00:04:48
all around the world using their own
  • 00:04:50
    computers their own electricity so
  • 00:04:52
unlike a website if a website server
  • 00:04:55
crashes maybe it has a couple servers if
  • 00:04:57
they crash the website goes down and no
  • 00:04:59
one can use it whereas a blockchain
  • 00:05:03
there's thousands of people all over the
  • 00:05:05
    world with their own
  • 00:05:07
computers maintaining the network so if
  • 00:05:10
I'm helping maintain a blockchain and my
  • 00:05:13
computer blows up the Network's not
  • 00:05:15
going to go down there's still thousands
  • 00:05:17
of other computers who are helping
  • 00:05:18
maintain and secure the network and
  • 00:05:21
that's the decentralization part of it
  • 00:05:24
and at this point there are well over a
  • 00:05:26
thousand blockchains I'm sure um not all
  • 00:05:29
of them more like wellknown I would say
  • 00:05:32
the most popular blockchains you know we
  • 00:05:34
    got Bitcoin ethereum salana
  • 00:05:36
cardano the list goes on I won't go too
  • 00:05:39
deep into the different types of
  • 00:05:41
blockchains but just know there are a
  • 00:05:43
lot of blockchains and as you um you
  • 00:05:46
know get more into crypto you'll find
  • 00:05:47
the blockchain that you like the
  • 00:05:49
best now with the blockchain comes fees
  • 00:05:53
anytime you transact on the blockchain
  • 00:05:55
you have to pay fee to the people who
  • 00:05:57
are helping maintain the network because
  • 00:05:59
again they're using their own devices it
  • 00:06:01
puts a lot of stress on their
  • 00:06:03
computers um and they're using their own
  • 00:06:05
electricity so it's not cheap to
  • 00:06:06
maintain a blockchain so whenever you
  • 00:06:08
transact on a blockchain you are paying
  • 00:06:10
fees and these fees just ensure that the
  • 00:06:13
network stays secure and that it stays
  • 00:06:15
up and running now depending on the
  • 00:06:17
blockchain you use you're going to be
  • 00:06:20
    paying different fees ethereum for
  • 00:06:23
example extremely expensive one of the
  • 00:06:25
most expensive blockchains as far as I'm
  • 00:06:27
aware of um back in 21 when nfts were
  • 00:06:30
taking off the ethereum blockchain was
  • 00:06:32
slam packed with users and that's how
  • 00:06:36
the The blockchain Works the busier the
  • 00:06:38
network is the more costly the fees are
  • 00:06:42
so it doesn't really matter how much
  • 00:06:43
crypto you're dealing with like let's
  • 00:06:45
say you're sending $100 worth of crypto
  • 00:06:48
to someone you're going to pay the same
  • 00:06:50
amount whether you're sending $100 or
  • 00:06:53
    $100
  • 00:06:54
million the the value of the crypto
  • 00:06:56
doesn't really matter in terms of the
  • 00:06:59
fees you're paying it's how congested
  • 00:07:02
the network that you're transacting on
  • 00:07:04
is so again during the bull run a
  • 00:07:07
network like ethereum it's going to be
  • 00:07:09
    extremely expensive I'm talking like2
  • 00:07:12
$300 for the transaction fee right now
  • 00:07:15
because the Network's not super busy
  • 00:07:16
you're probably paying like five to
  • 00:07:17
eight dollars but again when it's busy
  • 00:07:20
you could be paying hundreds of dollars
  • 00:07:21
but that's only one blockchain network a
  • 00:07:24
    network like
  • 00:07:25
salana is a lot cheaper even when it's
  • 00:07:28
super busy you're paying about 5 cents
  • 00:07:31
and these are things that you definitely
  • 00:07:32
    want to
  • 00:07:33
consider um you know if you're trading
  • 00:07:35
crypto like if you're trying to be a day
  • 00:07:36
trader it could be hard to do on
  • 00:07:38
ethereum because it's hard to make
  • 00:07:40
profit when the transaction fees cost
  • 00:07:42
    you $300 it's a lot easier on a network
  • 00:07:45
like salana where the fees cost four
  • 00:07:47
cents now you can optimize these fees so
  • 00:07:51
you can save some money or you could
  • 00:07:53
spend more money depending on your goal
  • 00:07:55
if you want to spend less money on fees
  • 00:07:57
then really all you can do is wait for
  • 00:08:00
the network to cool down wait for less
  • 00:08:02
people to use it um so that could just
  • 00:08:05
be the time of day you're using it
  • 00:08:06
definitely the month so if it's during
  • 00:08:09
like a bear cycle when there's not a lot
  • 00:08:10
of people using it you're not going to
  • 00:08:12
pay as much but if it's during a bull
  • 00:08:14
run it's pretty much always going to be
  • 00:08:15
slam packed so if you're using a network
  • 00:08:17
like ethereum that'll pretty much always
  • 00:08:19
be expensive so you might want to
  • 00:08:20
    consider using a different blockchain
  • 00:08:23
network and with that on networks like
  • 00:08:25
ethereum when they're slam pack busy it
  • 00:08:28
can be hard to get a trans action
  • 00:08:29
through so if you're in a rush like say
  • 00:08:31
you want to buy a cryptocurrency because
  • 00:08:33
it's going up in value and you really
  • 00:08:35
want that crypto right now you don't
  • 00:08:36
want to have to wait for it that way you
  • 00:08:38
can you know flip it for a profit or
  • 00:08:39
whatever you're G to have to pay a
  • 00:08:42
    higher transaction fee to prioritize
  • 00:08:44
your transaction so if you want it to go
  • 00:08:46
through instantly in a matter of seconds
  • 00:08:48
you're going to have to pay the highest
  • 00:08:49
transaction fee if you don't care about
  • 00:08:52
when that transaction goes through you
  • 00:08:53
just want it to go through eventually
  • 00:08:54
maybe in a few hours then you can choose
  • 00:08:57
a lower fee and usually this is only
  • 00:08:59
with crypto wallets when you go to
  • 00:09:01
    transact confirm a transaction it'll
  • 00:09:04
give you the option to change your
  • 00:09:05
network fee also known as a gas fee I
  • 00:09:08
forgot to mention um so you could choose
  • 00:09:10
the low option and it'll usually tell
  • 00:09:13
you it's an unestimated time it could
  • 00:09:16
take you know between now and a few
  • 00:09:18
hours or the high fee and it'll tell you
  • 00:09:20
it'll take like 15 seconds but again
  • 00:09:23
it's the difference between paying a
  • 00:09:24
little bit of money and a lot of bit of
  • 00:09:26
money for convenience and uh speed
  • 00:09:30
but again if you're using a blockchain
  • 00:09:31
    like salana doesn't really matter
  • 00:09:33
because it's cheap and it's a lot more
  • 00:09:35
efficient than ethereum now one of the
  • 00:09:38
most common questions I see and I don't
  • 00:09:40
know if I've ever answered it actually
  • 00:09:41
because it's it's just confusing is how
  • 00:09:45
do I know which blockchain network my
  • 00:09:47
crypto is on well I think this question
  • 00:09:49
usually comes from people who have their
  • 00:09:51
crypto on a crypto exchange and they're
  • 00:09:53
looking to send it to their crypto
  • 00:09:55
wallet and when you have your crypto on
  • 00:09:57
a crypto exchange it's not actually on
  • 00:09:59
    any one specific
  • 00:10:01
    Network you actually choose which
  • 00:10:03
network the crypto is on assuming that
  • 00:10:05
it can be used on different networks so
  • 00:10:08
for example this um picture right here
  • 00:10:11
is a screenshot of the coinbase exchange
  • 00:10:14
and I'm selecting the network for usdt
  • 00:10:17
which is a stable coin cryptocurrency
  • 00:10:19
and you can see there's different
  • 00:10:21
networks that I can use ethereum Bas
  • 00:10:23
salana alran so whatever Network I
  • 00:10:25
    choose is what network that
  • 00:10:27
cryptocurrency is going to be on but why
  • 00:10:30
does that matter well when you send
  • 00:10:31
crypto to something like a crypto wallet
  • 00:10:34
you need to send it on the correct
  • 00:10:35
Network otherwise you could end up
  • 00:10:36
losing all that crypto so on this next
  • 00:10:40
page this is a screenshot of my crypto
  • 00:10:43
wallet and as you can see here it's says
  • 00:10:45
it's on the ethereum network so if we go
  • 00:10:48
back here I'm sending usdt on the
  • 00:10:52
ethereum network to my crypto wallet
  • 00:10:54
address which is also on the ethereum
  • 00:10:57
network so and we'll get into this more
  • 00:10:59
    But ultimately when you're sending
  • 00:11:00
crypto just make sure that you're
  • 00:11:02
sending it on the right Network and you
  • 00:11:03
get to choose that Network and you
  • 00:11:06
should easily be able to figure out what
  • 00:11:08
network you're sending it to when you go
  • 00:11:09
to receive crypto in your wallet which
  • 00:11:11
again I'll touch on later so as we get
  • 00:11:15
into crypto wallets one of the common
  • 00:11:17
misconceptions is that your crypto is
  • 00:11:19
    stored on a crypto
  • 00:11:21
Wallet not true crypto wallets don't
  • 00:11:24
hold any crypto your crypto is stored on
  • 00:11:28
the blockchain it lives on blockchain
  • 00:11:29
    indefinitely it never leaves a
  • 00:11:31
blockchain it doesn't live in any
  • 00:11:33
    specific crypto wallet or Hardware
  • 00:11:35
device it's on the blockchain network on
  • 00:11:38
    the
  • 00:11:39
internet um so you might be wondering
  • 00:11:42
well then what's a crypto wallet for if
  • 00:11:44
it doesn't hold any crypto then what
  • 00:11:45
does it do well you could think of a
  • 00:11:47
crypto wallet more like a tool to manage
  • 00:11:49
your crypto so you can use it to
  • 00:11:51
initiate transactions do things like buy
  • 00:11:53
sell and swap crypto but it also holds
  • 00:11:57
the keys to your crypto account account
  • 00:11:59
on the blockchain when you set up a
  • 00:12:01
crypto wallet or even an account on a
  • 00:12:04
    crypto exchange you're basically getting
  • 00:12:06
an account number on the blockchain
  • 00:12:07
network and there are specific keys that
  • 00:12:10
are tied to that account which
  • 00:12:13
ultimately is what you want to control
  • 00:12:16
and secure so let's talk about these
  • 00:12:19
Keys when you set up a wallet a few
  • 00:12:22
things are happening first a master key
  • 00:12:25
is generated and this is like a long
  • 00:12:27
    string of numbers
  • 00:12:30
and different digits so we don't usually
  • 00:12:32
ever deal with that that's converted
  • 00:12:34
into a seed phrase which is a series of
  • 00:12:36
12 to 24 words that act as a backup and
  • 00:12:39
is what you use to store or regain
  • 00:12:42
access to your wallet so your seed
  • 00:12:43
phrase is the master key to wallet
  • 00:12:46
anyone who gets a hold of your seed
  • 00:12:48
phrase can do anything with your wallet
  • 00:12:51
if they have your seed phrase they have
  • 00:12:52
your wallet just look at it that way and
  • 00:12:55
then from your seed phrase is derived a
  • 00:12:58
private key key and a private key is
  • 00:13:00
kind of like a secret code that allows
  • 00:13:02
you to access and manage your
  • 00:13:03
    cryptocurrency accounts in your wallet
  • 00:13:06
so each blockchain account in your
  • 00:13:07
wallet has its own private key ethereum
  • 00:13:10
has its own private key Bitcoin has its
  • 00:13:11
own private key salana has its own
  • 00:13:14
private key so even though you can
  • 00:13:16
manage all those networks in one wallet
  • 00:13:18
under one seed phrase they all have
  • 00:13:20
their own private key but that means if
  • 00:13:23
you go to recover your wallet it'll
  • 00:13:25
recover all those private Keys it will
  • 00:13:27
    recover all your crypto accounts
  • 00:13:30
then from the private key you get a
  • 00:13:32
public address and the public address is
  • 00:13:34
like an email address you use it to
  • 00:13:36
receive crypto and so if I wanted to
  • 00:13:40
send you crypto you would need to send
  • 00:13:42
me your receiving or public wallet
  • 00:13:44
address is the same thing and it's safe
  • 00:13:47
to do like it's a sharable address no
  • 00:13:49
one can really do anything with your
  • 00:13:51
public address except send you crypto if
  • 00:13:53
they know how to use a blockchain
  • 00:13:55
Explorer which you could think of as
  • 00:13:56
like the Google search of blockchain
  • 00:13:58
    network
  • 00:13:59
then they could enter your public
  • 00:14:01
address and see like all the details of
  • 00:14:03
your wallets all your transactions all
  • 00:14:05
the crypto in your wallet because it is
  • 00:14:07
    a blockchain and it's completely
  • 00:14:09
transparent so if you don't want someone
  • 00:14:11
to know like what you have in your
  • 00:14:13
wallet you probably don't want to send
  • 00:14:15
them your public address um but they're
  • 00:14:17
not going to be able to do anything with
  • 00:14:18
it it won't give them any controller
  • 00:14:20
access to your wallet but it is what you
  • 00:14:22
need if you want to receive crypto now
  • 00:14:26
there's a couple different types of
  • 00:14:28
crypto storage the first one that I want
  • 00:14:31
to touch on is custodial versus
  • 00:14:33
non-custodial a lot of people who are
  • 00:14:35
just getting started in crypto are using
  • 00:14:38
    custodial storage and that's any
  • 00:14:40
    third-party uh wallet like crypto
  • 00:14:43
    exchanges they're all custodial storage
  • 00:14:45
    coinbase binance Gemini Kraken all
  • 00:14:48
custodia wallets and all that means is
  • 00:14:51
that the exchange the third party owns
  • 00:14:54
and controls the key to your wallet so
  • 00:14:57
    technically you don't actually control
  • 00:14:59
control your crypto if you have it
  • 00:15:00
stored on a crypto exchange because you
  • 00:15:02
don't control your keys The Exchange
  • 00:15:04
does now a lot of people think this
  • 00:15:06
    isn't a big deal because you know it's a
  • 00:15:09
    multi-million or billion dollar crypto
  • 00:15:11
exchange you should be able to trust
  • 00:15:12
them well you should but unfortunately
  • 00:15:14
that's not real life um because they
  • 00:15:17
control your private Keys I've had
  • 00:15:20
things happen to me like I bought some
  • 00:15:22
ethereum on coinbase and they froze my
  • 00:15:24
funds for two months um you know they
  • 00:15:26
have their reasons for doing it but
  • 00:15:28
ultim that shouldn't happen it's my
  • 00:15:31
money and I want access to it
  • 00:15:32
immediately I don't want to have to wait
  • 00:15:33
two months also my best friend same
  • 00:15:36
thing on coinbase he had his account
  • 00:15:38
locked for one year he had thousands of
  • 00:15:40
dollars worth of crypto stored on that
  • 00:15:42
that account coinbase locked his account
  • 00:15:44
for one year due to security concerns
  • 00:15:46
and it wasn't like a set time he was
  • 00:15:48
literally trying to regain access to it
  • 00:15:50
for about a year and it wasn't until he
  • 00:15:52
    threatened legal action that they
  • 00:15:54
prioritized his support ticket and they
  • 00:15:57
pretty much just unlocked it there and
  • 00:15:58
then but that's a downside to crypto
  • 00:16:02
    exchanges to custodial wallets codal
  • 00:16:04
wallets in my opinion are never a place
  • 00:16:07
that you should keep your crypto it's a
  • 00:16:09
good place to initially buy your crypto
  • 00:16:11
but you don't want to keep it there now
  • 00:16:14
a non-coal wallet on the other hand
  • 00:16:17
that's where you want to keep your
  • 00:16:18
crypto a non-custodial wallet gives you
  • 00:16:19
full control of the keys to your wallet
  • 00:16:23
now that's a good thing because then no
  • 00:16:26
one can freeze your account they're not
  • 00:16:27
going to freeze your crypto they can't
  • 00:16:29
freeze your wallet because you're in
  • 00:16:31
control of your wallet the downside to
  • 00:16:33
non-custodial wallets is that you have a
  • 00:16:35
lot of responsibility if you lose your
  • 00:16:37
seed phrase if you lose that 12 to 24
  • 00:16:40
words then you literally lose access to
  • 00:16:42
your wallet like there's no I forgot my
  • 00:16:44
password button when it comes to
  • 00:16:46
non-custodial wallets if you lose your
  • 00:16:47
seed phrase then you lose access to all
  • 00:16:49
your crypto there's no way to recover it
  • 00:16:51
there's no one that can help you so it
  • 00:16:53
is a huge responsibility if you're not
  • 00:16:56
willing to take on that responsibility
  • 00:16:58
    then
  • 00:16:59
I guess use a custodia wallet um but I
  • 00:17:03
would if you're getting into crypto you
  • 00:17:04
should just expect to manage your own
  • 00:17:07
money because crypto is that's another
  • 00:17:09
thing it's like you want to be your own
  • 00:17:11
bank and to be your own bank you need to
  • 00:17:12
be using a non-custodial wallet and
  • 00:17:15
there are two types of non-custodial
  • 00:17:17
wallets or I should say there are two
  • 00:17:19
main types that most people use the
  • 00:17:21
first one is a hot wallet this is like a
  • 00:17:24
software based wallet a an app like
  • 00:17:26
coinbase Robin Hood uh Gemini something
  • 00:17:29
that you download onto your internet
  • 00:17:31
connected device could be your phone or
  • 00:17:32
your computer that you're using to
  • 00:17:34
manage your crypto and again you have
  • 00:17:36
full access full control over your keys
  • 00:17:38
with a hot wallet um but the risk of
  • 00:17:42
using a hot wallet is that because it's
  • 00:17:45
on your internet connected device it is
  • 00:17:47
prone to malware and viruses so if
  • 00:17:49
someone's watching your computer or if
  • 00:17:51
they get access to your computer then
  • 00:17:53
they can eventually get access to your
  • 00:17:55
crypto wallet and then steal all your
  • 00:17:57
crypto that's why I say hot wallets are
  • 00:18:00
not a place to store your crypto and
  • 00:18:02
this happens to a lot of people I just
  • 00:18:04
had a one of my subscribers called me
  • 00:18:06
the other day he had $3,500 worth of
  • 00:18:09
bitcoin stored on a hot wallet on his
  • 00:18:12
    computer and he unknowingly downloaded
  • 00:18:15
some hour and all his Bitcoin is gone
  • 00:18:18
it's that easy there's no way to recover
  • 00:18:20
it once something like that happens in
  • 00:18:22
crypto unfortunately like you can and
  • 00:18:24
should file a police report with your
  • 00:18:27
local law enforcement but they're not
  • 00:18:29
going to do anything it's just so you
  • 00:18:30
have a record of it there's no way to
  • 00:18:32
    recover stolen crypto in most
  • 00:18:34
cases now a coldwall on on the other
  • 00:18:37
hand again it gives you full control
  • 00:18:39
over your private keys but it stores
  • 00:18:41
those keys offline on a physical device
  • 00:18:44
so a cold wallet is a physical device
  • 00:18:46
like this one which I'll get into more
  • 00:18:48
later as well but the keys that are used
  • 00:18:52
to access and manage my crypto are
  • 00:18:54
stored on this this does not get
  • 00:18:57
connected to the internet I can still
  • 00:18:59
communicate with my phone and my
  • 00:19:01
computer using this but the keys always
  • 00:19:04
remain on here and the keys are what
  • 00:19:05
people need to access your crypto and
  • 00:19:07
    that's why these are so
  • 00:19:10
secure so hot wallet is good
  • 00:19:14
for um maybe doing various transactions
  • 00:19:17
like on websites and stuff but it for
  • 00:19:21
long-term crypto storage or even short
  • 00:19:23
term like anything more than a week or
  • 00:19:26
even a couple days you really need to
  • 00:19:28
get a cold wallet and I'll touch more on
  • 00:19:29
    cold wallets
  • 00:19:30
later now I want to touch back on the
  • 00:19:32
seed phrase because the seed phrase is
  • 00:19:34
the most important part of crypto
  • 00:19:36
security like if I could tell you one
  • 00:19:38
thing it's to never share your seed
  • 00:19:40
phrase the seed phrase is the one thing
  • 00:19:42
you need to protect because that's what
  • 00:19:44
gives people access to your wallet if
  • 00:19:45
you can protect your seed phrase then
  • 00:19:47
you can protect your crypto now a lot of
  • 00:19:50
people think because they think your
  • 00:19:52
crypto stored on the wallet if you lose
  • 00:19:54
your wallet like if you're using a cold
  • 00:19:56
wallet and say I smash this with the
  • 00:19:58
hammer or gets stolen or I lose it then
  • 00:20:00
I lose access to my crypto well that's
  • 00:20:03
not the case because crypto is not
  • 00:20:05
stored on the wallet it's connected to
  • 00:20:07
    my seed phrase so let's
  • 00:20:09
    say I lose this
  • 00:20:11
wallet how do I regain access to my
  • 00:20:13
crypto while I have my 12 to 24w seed
  • 00:20:16
phrase written down and stored securely
  • 00:20:18
somewhere and then I can go and use
  • 00:20:20
another wallet like this one and then I
  • 00:20:23
can import the seed phrase into this
  • 00:20:25
wallet and regain access to all of my
  • 00:20:27
    crypto
  • 00:20:29
so the seed phrase again it's the most
  • 00:20:31
important thing and every time you get a
  • 00:20:33
wallet the first thing that you do is
  • 00:20:36
create the wallet so you're either going
  • 00:20:38
to create a new wallet using this device
  • 00:20:40
or the software if you're using a hot
  • 00:20:43
wallet or import an existing one so if
  • 00:20:46
you're trying to recover a lost or
  • 00:20:48
stolen or damaged wallet you're always
  • 00:20:50
just going to hit the import wallet
  • 00:20:52
option enter your seed phrase and it's
  • 00:20:54
literally that easy and you don't even
  • 00:20:56
have to use the same brand a wallet so
  • 00:20:57
let's say I originally created my wallet
  • 00:21:00
using this Ledger one and then I lost
  • 00:21:03
this but I had my seed phrase and I go
  • 00:21:05
    and buy something like
  • 00:21:06
tangum I can import my seed phrase using
  • 00:21:10
this brand a wallet and still recover my
  • 00:21:12
crypto so it's not even it doesn't
  • 00:21:13
matter what wallet you're using as long
  • 00:21:15
as you have your seed phrase available
  • 00:21:18
that's what matters and we're going to
  • 00:21:20
get into all the different wallets
  • 00:21:23
later so exchanges versus hot wallets
  • 00:21:26
versus cold wallets I touched on this a
  • 00:21:27
little where should you store your
  • 00:21:29
crypto I just want to touch on this
  • 00:21:31
    again because it's super important
  • 00:21:34
exchanges are great for buying and
  • 00:21:36
selling crypto like when you initially
  • 00:21:37
want to get in a crypto anytime you want
  • 00:21:40
to buy crypto you're probably using a
  • 00:21:42
    centralized exchange like
  • 00:21:44
coinbase but exchanges are meant to be a
  • 00:21:47
place to exchange crypto to buy sell
  • 00:21:50
trade Cash Out crypto they're not meant
  • 00:21:54
as a they're not a good storage solution
  • 00:21:56
    hot wallet
  • 00:21:58
again it's good if you want to connect
  • 00:22:00
it to decentralized websites maybe like
  • 00:22:02
a crypto mining website or crypto
  • 00:22:04
airdrops or like an nft Marketplace but
  • 00:22:07
because it's so prone to different hacks
  • 00:22:09
and M it's not a place that you want to
  • 00:22:11
    keep your
  • 00:22:12
crypto they're easy to use too but it's
  • 00:22:15
not a place you want to keep your crypto
  • 00:22:16
cold Wallets on the other hand are
  • 00:22:18
    designed specifically with security in
  • 00:22:20
mind and they're virtually immune to
  • 00:22:23
like all types of hacks both physical
  • 00:22:25
and digital so if someone some super
  • 00:22:28
super hacker came in and tried to hack
  • 00:22:31
this wallet it's very unlikely almost
  • 00:22:33
impossible that they'll be be able to
  • 00:22:35
extract any data that would lead them to
  • 00:22:37
getting my crypto and same with any
  • 00:22:40
maare or viruses I download on my
  • 00:22:41
computer if I get maare on my computer
  • 00:22:44
even if I connect my wallet using
  • 00:22:46
Bluetooth or USB because the keys are
  • 00:22:48
stored on this wallet the Mau is not
  • 00:22:51
going to be able to get to it so cold
  • 00:22:53
wallets are where you want to store your
  • 00:22:55
crypto I don't care how much you trust a
  • 00:22:57
crypto Exchange or how good a hot wallet
  • 00:23:00
you have it's not really about how good
  • 00:23:03
the exchange or the wallet is it's a
  • 00:23:07
it's about your knowledge of avoiding
  • 00:23:09
scams and then doing everything in your
  • 00:23:11
power such as using a cold wallet to
  • 00:23:14
    secure your
  • 00:23:15
    crypto exchanges hot
  • 00:23:18
    wallets don't sore your crypto
  • 00:23:21
there now speaking of cold wallets there
  • 00:23:25
are dozens of cold wallets and I own
  • 00:23:29
like this box right here is just an
  • 00:23:31
example of some of the different cold
  • 00:23:32
wallets I own this isn't even half of
  • 00:23:35
the cold wallets there's probably I
  • 00:23:36
    don't know 10 or 12 wallets in
  • 00:23:39
there that to say that there are a ton
  • 00:23:41
    of cold wallets to choose
  • 00:23:43
from to be fair all cold wallets mainly
  • 00:23:46
do the same thing they store your keys
  • 00:23:50
and allow you to manage your
  • 00:23:52
crypto so how do you know which wallet
  • 00:23:54
you're supposed to choose well I've got
  • 00:23:57
it down to uh a few things that you want
  • 00:23:59
to look for first is security obviously
  • 00:24:03
you want a wallet that you can trust to
  • 00:24:04
secure your your keys so that your
  • 00:24:06
    crypto remains secure basically just
  • 00:24:08
look for a wallet that's never been
  • 00:24:10
hacked and has good reviews pretty easy
  • 00:24:13
to find on the internet these
  • 00:24:15
days but also certain elements are what
  • 00:24:18
I expect in my cold wallet to make it a
  • 00:24:20
secure wallet something like a secure
  • 00:24:22
chip most cold Wallets on the market
  • 00:24:24
have a secure element chip and this is
  • 00:24:25
the same kind of chip that's used in
  • 00:24:28
your bank card and electronic passports
  • 00:24:30
to secure private information when it
  • 00:24:33
comes to cold wallets that's where your
  • 00:24:35
private key is stored it's where the key
  • 00:24:37
to your wallet is stored and those chips
  • 00:24:39
are immune to physical and digital
  • 00:24:42
hacks then also pin protection and pin
  • 00:24:45
    protection really just prevents someone
  • 00:24:47
from physically accessing your wallet so
  • 00:24:49
that's super important and then security
  • 00:24:51
audits a lot of wallets have third party
  • 00:24:54
audits done by different security firms
  • 00:24:56
to prove that there are no
  • 00:24:57
    vulnerabilties
  • 00:24:58
or back doors so those are like my three
  • 00:25:02
things that I look for in a good cold
  • 00:25:05
wallet next is user friendliness if your
  • 00:25:07
cold wallet is too confusing to even use
  • 00:25:10
or set up it's actually it actually
  • 00:25:12
becomes a liability because it's easy to
  • 00:25:15
make a mistake crypto is already
  • 00:25:16
confusing enough we don't need our
  • 00:25:17
crypto wallet to be confusing too so you
  • 00:25:19
want a really userfriendly wallet and
  • 00:25:22
what makes a wallet user friendly I
  • 00:25:24
would say is the app that it comes with
  • 00:25:27
and not like an overwhelming amount of
  • 00:25:29
    different features that most people
  • 00:25:31
aren't going to use and then you also
  • 00:25:33
    want like basic crypto management
  • 00:25:35
functions like Buy sell Swap and maybe
  • 00:25:39
even some staking features natively in
  • 00:25:41
your wallet that way you don't have to
  • 00:25:43
always send your crypto back and forth
  • 00:25:44
between the exchange in your wallet to
  • 00:25:46
do things like swap it or sell it you
  • 00:25:48
can do it directly in your cold wallet
  • 00:25:51
um another thing and most one of the
  • 00:25:52
most important things is coin support if
  • 00:25:55
the wallet doesn't support the crypto
  • 00:25:56
that you plan to hold then why would you
  • 00:25:58
buy it right and so this is the one
  • 00:26:01
thing you should be checking if you're
  • 00:26:03
looking at a cold wallet make sure that
  • 00:26:05
    it supports the cryptocurrencies you
  • 00:26:06
plan to hold with it and all the crypto
  • 00:26:09
wallet websites like if you go to
  • 00:26:11
ledger.com which is a crypto wallet
  • 00:26:13
there will be a tab where it'll tell you
  • 00:26:15
which coins it supports so you just want
  • 00:26:16
to go through that list and you can
  • 00:26:18
search for which coins you plan on
  • 00:26:20
    holding and then last is
  • 00:26:22
compatibility what device do you want to
  • 00:26:25
use your cold wallet with you can you
  • 00:26:26
can use it with your phone or computer
  • 00:26:29
or both if you have a preference then
  • 00:26:31
you want to double check that the wallet
  • 00:26:32
you get works with whatever device you
  • 00:26:34
want to use so I do want to tell you
  • 00:26:37
about two of my favorite cold wallets
  • 00:26:39
tangum is my favorite cold wallet it's
  • 00:26:41
the most userfriendly cold wallet on the
  • 00:26:43
market so if you're like a complete Noob
  • 00:26:46
to crypto then I wouldn't recommend any
  • 00:26:49
other wallet to you than this one
  • 00:26:51
because I'm pretty confident that if you
  • 00:26:53
can hop if you can microwave a Hot
  • 00:26:55
Pocket then you can set up a tangent
  • 00:26:56
wallet and use it um um and it's really
  • 00:27:00
easy it only takes about 3 minutes to
  • 00:27:01
set up it is a mobile only wallet so it
  • 00:27:05
only works with your mobile phone which
  • 00:27:07
is a good thing because the only thing I
  • 00:27:09
    need to use this
  • 00:27:11
wallet is the card and my phone that's
  • 00:27:14
it there's no battery there's no cords I
  • 00:27:17
don't have to charge it uh it's super
  • 00:27:19
    durable it's ip68 rated so it's dust
  • 00:27:22
    waterproof it's also resistant to
  • 00:27:24
    extreme
  • 00:27:25
temperatures it's also isoated so it's
  • 00:27:27
    immune to electrostatic discharge x-ray
  • 00:27:30
machines and emps so like I've traveled
  • 00:27:32
    with my tangent wallet um
  • 00:27:34
    internationally to a few different
  • 00:27:36
countries I've never had an issue with
  • 00:27:38
it no one's ever questioned me about it
  • 00:27:40
and it doesn't get damaged when I when I
  • 00:27:42
run it through the X-ray machine and
  • 00:27:44
again super durable it's literally just
  • 00:27:46
a card you can beat it up pretty good
  • 00:27:48
and it's going to work and that's why it
  • 00:27:50
does come with a 25-year product
  • 00:27:51
replacement warranty um and when you
  • 00:27:54
order tangum you can order it in a set
  • 00:27:56
    of two or three cards
  • 00:27:58
they're the same wallet they have the
  • 00:28:00
same keys on them but they're just a
  • 00:28:02
backup so like let's say I lose a card I
  • 00:28:04
still have a card and then of course you
  • 00:28:06
have your seed phrase if you lose all of
  • 00:28:07
them if you need to recover it um the
  • 00:28:10
app though is my favorite part super
  • 00:28:13
easy to use it has all the features you
  • 00:28:14
need Buy sell swap stake all in the
  • 00:28:17
tangum app and it supports thousands of
  • 00:28:21
    cryptocurrencies across 70 different
  • 00:28:22
blockchain networks it's probably one of
  • 00:28:24
the best coin support cold Wallets on
  • 00:28:27
the market um and if you you can either
  • 00:28:29
scan this QR code using your phone or
  • 00:28:32
whatever your computer or you can just
  • 00:28:34
go to tangent.com and if you enter the
  • 00:28:36
code cyber scroll at checkout you will
  • 00:28:38
get 10% off the wallet it's already
  • 00:28:39
super affordable it's only like 50 or 60
  • 00:28:41
bucks so you can get 10% off your entire
  • 00:28:43
order um and if you use this QR code it
  • 00:28:46
    will automatically apply that 10%
  • 00:28:47
discount as well but if you don't want
  • 00:28:50
to use your cold wallet on your mobile
  • 00:28:52
device if you want to use it on your
  • 00:28:54
desktop device or your desktop and
  • 00:28:56
mobile device then that's where I would
  • 00:28:58
recommend Ledger wallets and Ledger has
  • 00:29:00
currently has four different models of
  • 00:29:02
wallets um I own all of them The Ledger
  • 00:29:05
Nanos plus Ledger Nano X Ledger flex and
  • 00:29:09
The Ledger Stacks it can be a little
  • 00:29:11
overwhelming but to be fair all these
  • 00:29:13
models have the same level of security
  • 00:29:16
so it doesn't matter which one you
  • 00:29:17
choose it really just comes down to
  • 00:29:20
which um interface you like most like if
  • 00:29:23
you don't mind a small screen and a
  • 00:29:25
    couple
  • 00:29:26
buttons then something like The Ledger
  • 00:29:28
nanox would be a good option because it
  • 00:29:30
is fairly affordable or if you want a
  • 00:29:33
touchcreen um a little more user
  • 00:29:35
friendly easier on the eyes then The
  • 00:29:38
Ledger Flex would be my choice but I
  • 00:29:41
really like Ledger because they've been
  • 00:29:42
around Forever The Ledger nanox was the
  • 00:29:44
first cold wallet that I ever
  • 00:29:46
owned um super easy setup when you
  • 00:29:50
connect your wallet the wallet walks you
  • 00:29:52
through every single step I forgot to
  • 00:29:54
mention tangum does that too but when it
  • 00:29:56
comes to setting up a cold wallet and
  • 00:29:59
getting started if you've never used one
  • 00:30:01
as confusing both these wallets Ledger
  • 00:30:03
and tangent walk you through the entire
  • 00:30:05
    setup
  • 00:30:06
process and Ledger wallet also have the
  • 00:30:08
secure element chip in them so you know
  • 00:30:10
that your keys are safe and immune to
  • 00:30:12
all types of hacks and it also has a
  • 00:30:15
unique um SE secure screen feature and
  • 00:30:19
Ledger is the only cold wallet with a
  • 00:30:21
secure screen and all that means is that
  • 00:30:25
    the secure element chip interacts
  • 00:30:26
directly with the screen there's no like
  • 00:30:28
micro um controller in between them
  • 00:30:31
which if there is it could be immune to
  • 00:30:33
    hacks it's basically just a
  • 00:30:34
vulnerability lger is the only wallet on
  • 00:30:36
the market where the secure element chip
  • 00:30:38
    communicates directly with the screen
  • 00:30:40
you can also use The Ledger flex and The
  • 00:30:44
Ledger Stacks as your pass key on like
  • 00:30:47
any website that you set up a TFA on
  • 00:30:49
which you should be setting up tfas on
  • 00:30:51
all your websites so those are the two
  • 00:30:53
wallets I recommend and again you can
  • 00:30:55
scan the QR code here it'll take you
  • 00:30:57
directly to let website and most of the
  • 00:31:00
time I have a deal running or Ledger has
  • 00:31:01
a deal running where you use my link and
  • 00:31:03
you get like $10 worth of free Bitcoin
  • 00:31:07
so again you can scan this QR code here
  • 00:31:09
and it'll take you to that offer now I
  • 00:31:12
want to get into how to buy crypto and
  • 00:31:16
all the things to consider all the
  • 00:31:17
things that come with that so if you're
  • 00:31:19
just getting started you've never bought
  • 00:31:20
crypto the first thing you need to do is
  • 00:31:22
choose which crypto exchange you want to
  • 00:31:24
use so there are some things that you
  • 00:31:26
need to consider when choosing a crypto
  • 00:31:29
    Exchange number one regulation and
  • 00:31:31
reputation you want to verify that the
  • 00:31:33
exchange uh is available in your country
  • 00:31:37
some exchanges aren't available here in
  • 00:31:38
the US so even though they're really
  • 00:31:40
reputable exchanges I can't use them um
  • 00:31:43
also I really only use tier one
  • 00:31:45
exchanges and a tier one crypto exchange
  • 00:31:47
is a top tier platform uh it's known for
  • 00:31:49
    high trading volume strong security
  • 00:31:52
Global adoption and is compliant with
  • 00:31:54
all the rules and regulations wherever
  • 00:31:56
    it's listed so
  • 00:31:58
um I'll show you some of my favorite
  • 00:31:59
tier ones in this next slide but tier
  • 00:32:01
one exchanges are basically just the
  • 00:32:03
    most popular most reputable exchanges
  • 00:32:04
you don't want to go use some random
  • 00:32:07
Korean exchange nothing against Korea um
  • 00:32:10
but as far as I know there's no tier one
  • 00:32:12
exchanges in Korea I could be wrong and
  • 00:32:15
then you also want to consider the fees
  • 00:32:17
all crypto exchanges have different fees
  • 00:32:18
for trading deposits withdrawals so it
  • 00:32:22
    is definitely something worth
  • 00:32:23
considering I'd say a lot of the crypto
  • 00:32:25
exchanges will have similar fees ranging
  • 00:32:27
    anywhere from like one to
  • 00:32:29
3.5% but it is worth looking at and then
  • 00:32:32
of course supported currencies you want
  • 00:32:34
to make sure the exchange you use
  • 00:32:35
supports the currencies that you plan on
  • 00:32:37
buying and selling so these are three
  • 00:32:40
I'd say three of the most popular crypto
  • 00:32:43
exchanges there's a ton of other ones
  • 00:32:45
Kraken is my favorite exchange that's
  • 00:32:47
the one that I personally use again you
  • 00:32:50
have to look at all the ones and see
  • 00:32:51
what's best for you but I like Kraken
  • 00:32:53
I've never had any issues with them like
  • 00:32:54
freezing my funds or locking my account
  • 00:32:57
um there fees range from 0o to
  • 00:33:00
3.75% and again it depends on what
  • 00:33:02
you're doing on the exchange buying
  • 00:33:04
    crypto transferring crypto trading
  • 00:33:06
crypto cashing out your crypto they all
  • 00:33:08
have different fees and it all varies
  • 00:33:09
depending on the amount and stuff but in
  • 00:33:12
    general 0 to
  • 00:33:13
3.75% not terrible they support over 200
  • 00:33:17
    different cryptocurrencies so that's a
  • 00:33:19
plus and they have a $100,000 daily
  • 00:33:22
withdraw limit so if you are dealing
  • 00:33:24
with a lot of crypto and you're like
  • 00:33:26
cashing out a lot of crypto you can cash
  • 00:33:28
out up to $100,000 per day directly to
  • 00:33:31
your bank account another popular one
  • 00:33:34
based in the US is Gemini um they have
  • 00:33:37
fixed fees for trading under $200 and
  • 00:33:39
then 1.49% fees on trades over $200 and
  • 00:33:43
    then up to
  • 00:33:45
3.5% um fees for trades using like your
  • 00:33:48
your debit card so again it's zero to
  • 00:33:51
3.5 is percent they support 70 plus
  • 00:33:55
    different cryptocurrencies a little less
  • 00:33:56
than Kraken but Gemini is a really
  • 00:33:58
trusted exchange and they also have a
  • 00:34:01
    $100,000 daily withdraw limit now
  • 00:34:03
coinbase I would say is the most popular
  • 00:34:06
crypto exchange um in the United States
  • 00:34:08
    if not in the
  • 00:34:10
world a lot of people use coinbase I
  • 00:34:12
think they have like over 100 million
  • 00:34:13
users coinbase is one of the first
  • 00:34:15
    crypto exchanges I ever
  • 00:34:17
use I don't like coinbase because of
  • 00:34:20
what I've experienced because they froze
  • 00:34:22
my funds because my friend's account got
  • 00:34:24
locked um to be fair that can happen on
  • 00:34:27
any Exchange change it could happen on
  • 00:34:29
    Kraken Gemini Robin Hood crypto.com
  • 00:34:32
binance because it's a custodial wallet
  • 00:34:36
these exchanges can do these things
  • 00:34:38
that's why I say don't keep your crypto
  • 00:34:39
on an exchange but I did include
  • 00:34:41
coinbase in this in this slide because I
  • 00:34:44
know it is popular I know a lot of
  • 00:34:46
people use it and I know a lot of people
  • 00:34:48
enjoy using it and it is good for
  • 00:34:50
beginners they have some pretty high
  • 00:34:51
fees 05% upwards of four I think I've
  • 00:34:55
seen even 5% so they definitely are
  • 00:34:58
charging a premium because they are a
  • 00:35:00
popular exchange uh they support over
  • 00:35:02
200 cryptocurrencies and again they have
  • 00:35:05
a $100,000 daily withdraw limit now when
  • 00:35:09
you buy crypto actually you know what
  • 00:35:11
let me go back to the
  • 00:35:12
slide because when you set up a crypto
  • 00:35:15
exchange account I just want you to know
  • 00:35:16
what to expect it's like setting up any
  • 00:35:18
other online account you enter your
  • 00:35:20
email you create a password but then
  • 00:35:22
you're going to need to go through the
  • 00:35:24
kyc verification or know your customer
  • 00:35:26
and if you're in the US
  • 00:35:28
there's really no way around kyc you
  • 00:35:31
could use like a non kyc exchange I
  • 00:35:33
wouldn't recommend it but kyc basically
  • 00:35:36
is just going to require all your
  • 00:35:37
personal information so your full legal
  • 00:35:40
name social security number and a
  • 00:35:42
picture of your ID as well as a selfie
  • 00:35:44
this is to verify who you are and to um
  • 00:35:47
fight against like money laundering and
  • 00:35:49
    terrorism and basically any illegal
  • 00:35:52
activity that's why you have to do these
  • 00:35:54
things these exchanges wouldn't be able
  • 00:35:56
to wouldn't even exist or operate if
  • 00:35:59
    they didn't have these regulations
  • 00:36:01
so now buying crypto you have a couple
  • 00:36:04
options when it comes to buying crypto
  • 00:36:05
currency the first option is using a
  • 00:36:08
crypto exchange so to do that you would
  • 00:36:10
just set up choose a crypto exchange
  • 00:36:12
whichever one you want set up your
  • 00:36:14
    preferred account go through the
  • 00:36:16
    verification process including kyc
  • 00:36:19
usually it'll take anywhere from a few
  • 00:36:20
minutes upwards of a few days to get
  • 00:36:22
your account verified after that's done
  • 00:36:25
you want to link your bank account or
  • 00:36:26
your bank card I personally link my bank
  • 00:36:29
account because it just seems like a
  • 00:36:31
smoother process like whenever I buy
  • 00:36:32
crypto it's a lot quicker if I have my
  • 00:36:34
    bank account connected it's usually
  • 00:36:36
available instantly versus if you use a
  • 00:36:37
bank card it could take a little while
  • 00:36:39
longer plus you might be paying higher
  • 00:36:41
fees if you're using a bank card but
  • 00:36:44
once you connect a payment method you
  • 00:36:46
just go to uh you just search for
  • 00:36:49
whatever crypto you want to buy you
  • 00:36:51
enter how much you want to buy and you
  • 00:36:52
hit the buy button and then that crypto
  • 00:36:54
is going to show up in your portfolio on
  • 00:36:56
your exchange account and it's really
  • 00:36:58
that simple and then the next step would
  • 00:37:01
be to send your crypto to a crypto
  • 00:37:02
exchange or to a crypto wallet which is
  • 00:37:04
what I'll show you in a bit option
  • 00:37:06
number two though for buying crypto you
  • 00:37:08
don't have to ever touch a crypto
  • 00:37:10
exchange if you don't want to you can
  • 00:37:12
buy crypto directly from your cold
  • 00:37:15
wallet now to be fair they do work with
  • 00:37:17
thirdparty exchanges to do this but that
  • 00:37:19
way you don't have to buy crypto on an
  • 00:37:21
exchange and then send it to your cold
  • 00:37:23
wallet you can just buy it using your
  • 00:37:25
cold wallet and then it'll arrive in
  • 00:37:27
your wallet so that way again you're not
  • 00:37:29
transferring uh different things so to
  • 00:37:31
do that this example I have on screen is
  • 00:37:33
using the tangent wallet you just open
  • 00:37:36
up the app select the crypto you want to
  • 00:37:37
buy press the buy button and then there
  • 00:37:39
will be onscreen instructions to set up
  • 00:37:42
your account again you'll have to go
  • 00:37:43
through kyc connect your bank account
  • 00:37:45
and then eventually you'll confirm the
  • 00:37:47
purchase and you don't have to send
  • 00:37:49
anything to your wallet it'll arrive
  • 00:37:51
automatically in your wallet the only
  • 00:37:53
downside I'd say to purchasing crypto
  • 00:37:55
directly in your cold wallet is the fee
  • 00:37:57
are probably going to be a little higher
  • 00:37:59
    because it's it's more of a convenience
  • 00:38:00
fee so rather than 3% you're paying
  • 00:38:03
upwards of 5% um so it is something to
  • 00:38:06
    consider when buying crypto directly
  • 00:38:08
through your cold wallet now another
  • 00:38:11
thing that's really important to know is
  • 00:38:13
swapping crypto or converting crypto so
  • 00:38:16
    selling one
  • 00:38:18
crypto basically buying another one you
  • 00:38:20
don't have to you know sell your crypto
  • 00:38:23
for cash and then buy crypto again you
  • 00:38:26
can just take the one crypto you have
  • 00:38:29
    and convert it into another
  • 00:38:31
crypto again there's a couple ways you
  • 00:38:33
can do this I'll show you two ways the
  • 00:38:35
first option is using a crypto exchange
  • 00:38:37
whether that's coinbase the example on
  • 00:38:39
screen is coinbase you would just log
  • 00:38:40
into your crypto exchange account tap
  • 00:38:43
the buy and sell option and then choose
  • 00:38:45
convert and then you just use the panel
  • 00:38:47
to choose which coin you're swapping
  • 00:38:49
from and and then of course enter
  • 00:38:51
however much you want to swap and then
  • 00:38:53
you can tap review order this will show
  • 00:38:54
you all the details like how much of the
  • 00:38:56
    other cryptocurrency curency you're
  • 00:38:57
going to receive as well as any fees
  • 00:39:00
that they're going to charge you and
  • 00:39:02
then once you confirm the transaction uh
  • 00:39:04
    the new cryptocurrency will just
  • 00:39:06
automatically show up in your account
  • 00:39:08
and the old one that you converted from
  • 00:39:10
will disappear the second option is you
  • 00:39:12
    can convert cryptocurrency directly in
  • 00:39:15
your cold wallet again this example on
  • 00:39:17
screen is the tangum cold wallet and you
  • 00:39:20
just open up the app select the crypto
  • 00:39:22
that you want to swap press the swap
  • 00:39:23
button and then enter how much you want
  • 00:39:26
to swap choose a currency that you want
  • 00:39:28
to swap to and then you confirm the
  • 00:39:30
transaction and again the one the
  • 00:39:32
original crypto will be gone from your
  • 00:39:34
wallet the new one will arrive again
  • 00:39:36
you're probably going to pay a higher
  • 00:39:39
swap fee if you're doing it directly in
  • 00:39:40
your cold wallet versus doing it on a
  • 00:39:42
crypto exchange so just always keep that
  • 00:39:44
in mind you're always paying a
  • 00:39:46
    convenience
  • 00:39:47
fee now sending crypto this is one of
  • 00:39:50
the most important aspects of crypto
  • 00:39:53
because in order to secure your crypto
  • 00:39:55
you need to send it from The Exchange to
  • 00:39:57
your cold wallet assuming you bought it
  • 00:39:59
originally on a crypto exchange the one
  • 00:40:01
thing like if you know that you need
  • 00:40:03
your public address to get crypto that's
  • 00:40:06
that's really all you need to know the
  • 00:40:07
only thing you need to send crypto is
  • 00:40:09
the receiving wallet's public address if
  • 00:40:12
you have that then you can send crypto
  • 00:40:14
and it's the same it doesn't matter what
  • 00:40:16
crypto exchange or what crypto wallet
  • 00:40:18
you're using the process is literally
  • 00:40:21
the same don't let this confuse you it's
  • 00:40:24
super simple so let's let's go through
  • 00:40:26
it step by step this is an example using
  • 00:40:28
my tangent wallet so let's say you want
  • 00:40:31
    to send crypto from
  • 00:40:34
coinbase to your tangum cold wallet
  • 00:40:37
first thing you want to do is go to your
  • 00:40:39
cold wallet the receiving Wallet tap the
  • 00:40:42
cryptocurrency that you want to receive
  • 00:40:44
in your wallet select the receive button
  • 00:40:46
then you want to copy the public address
  • 00:40:48
then you want to log into your
  • 00:40:49
cryptocurrency account go to the crypto
  • 00:40:51
that you're sending and then paste your
  • 00:40:54
cold wallet's receiving address in the
  • 00:40:56
send spot that's really all you need to
  • 00:40:58
know the only thing you need to send
  • 00:41:01
crypto is the receiving address so
  • 00:41:04
whatever wallet you're sending it to
  • 00:41:06
copy the receiving address from that
  • 00:41:08
wallet paste it into the send spot
  • 00:41:10
wherever you're sending the crypto from
  • 00:41:13
now one tip that I will give you if it's
  • 00:41:15
your first time sending crypto say
  • 00:41:18
you're sending $1,000 worth of crypto to
  • 00:41:20
your cold wallet don't send the entire
  • 00:41:22
$1,000 all at once that way if you do
  • 00:41:25
make a mistake you would only lose a
  • 00:41:27
little bit of money so try sending $50
  • 00:41:29
first if you do that successfully and
  • 00:41:31
you're confident in your ability to send
  • 00:41:33
crypto then send the rest of it but you
  • 00:41:35
can always just do a small test amount
  • 00:41:37
first uh just note that you will have to
  • 00:41:40
pay the transaction fee twice something
  • 00:41:43
to consider um but at least for your
  • 00:41:45
first time it's not a bad idea next I
  • 00:41:47
want to talk about selling crypto again
  • 00:41:50
there's a couple options for selling
  • 00:41:52
crypto as well and by selling crypto I
  • 00:41:54
mean taking your crypto and turning it
  • 00:41:57
back into Fiat money and then eventually
  • 00:42:00
you know sending it back to your bank
  • 00:42:01
account so that you can do things like
  • 00:42:04
pay bills buy groceries go on vacation
  • 00:42:07
whatever it is you want to do with your
  • 00:42:08
    crypto
  • 00:42:10
earnings so the first option is to use a
  • 00:42:13
    crypto exchange so whatever crypto
  • 00:42:15
exchange that you originally bought your
  • 00:42:17
crypto on you can send your crypto back
  • 00:42:19
to that exchange and sell it when to do
  • 00:42:22
that um you just send the crypto back to
  • 00:42:25
the exchange so it's the same process in
  • 00:42:27
Reverse you'd get the receiving address
  • 00:42:29
from your exchange press the send button
  • 00:42:31
in your cold wallet paste the receiving
  • 00:42:33
address from the exchange hit send and
  • 00:42:35
    it'll show up in the
  • 00:42:36
exchange but once you have your crypto
  • 00:42:38
on the exchange you just go to your
  • 00:42:39
portfolio select the crypto that you
  • 00:42:42
    want to
  • 00:42:43
sell tap the sell button and then choose
  • 00:42:46
your native currency USD Euros whatever
  • 00:42:49
it is and then um it'll be like an
  • 00:42:51
instant sell and then from there you can
  • 00:42:54
press the withdraw button and it'll send
  • 00:42:56
that that Fiat money back to your bank
  • 00:42:58
account usually within 1 to 3
  • 00:43:01
days another option if you don't want to
  • 00:43:04
send crypto currency from your cold
  • 00:43:06
wallet back to the crypto exchange to
  • 00:43:07
sell it you can sell it directly from
  • 00:43:09
your cold wallet you can cash out crypto
  • 00:43:11
directly from your cold wallet a lot of
  • 00:43:13
people don't know this um again you're
  • 00:43:16
paying higher fees but it's the
  • 00:43:19
convenience thing so to do that this is
  • 00:43:21
an example using my tangent wallet you
  • 00:43:23
just open up the cold Wallet app
  • 00:43:25
whichever one you use select the crypto
  • 00:43:28
that you want to sell tap the sell
  • 00:43:29
button and then for tangum you just
  • 00:43:31
    follow the onscreen instructions to
  • 00:43:33
create an account on the third party
  • 00:43:35
exchange that they use which is moonay
  • 00:43:36
at the time and then you'll connect your
  • 00:43:39
bank account and you'll literally be
  • 00:43:40
able to cash out your crypto um directly
  • 00:43:43
to your bank account all from your cold
  • 00:43:45
wallet and again like I said you're
  • 00:43:47
you're going to come out of this live
  • 00:43:49
stream with probably even more questions
  • 00:43:51
than you entered it with and that's
  • 00:43:52
completely okay this just will live as a
  • 00:43:55
guide as a resource that you can use um
  • 00:43:58
but to really figure this stuff out you
  • 00:44:00
just need to go through the step
  • 00:44:01
yourself and do it it seems scary I'm
  • 00:44:03
just here to tell you it's really not
  • 00:44:05
that scary especially after you do it
  • 00:44:07
once or twice super simple like I said I
  • 00:44:10
use my wallet on a weekly basis and I'm
  • 00:44:12
    sending swapping receiving crypto doing
  • 00:44:15
the whole shebang in literally a matter
  • 00:44:17
of seconds so it doesn't take that much
  • 00:44:19
to get to that point but all this stuff
  • 00:44:22
is uh relatively easy to learn the one
  • 00:44:26
thing that even the experts or the pros
  • 00:44:28
are always failing at is securing their
  • 00:44:31
crypto and that's because crypto right
  • 00:44:33
now is a three trillion doll industry
  • 00:44:36
it's almost double the size of the
  • 00:44:37
    pharmaceutical industry and scammers
  • 00:44:41
love Industries where there's a lot of
  • 00:44:43
money going around but what they love
  • 00:44:45
even more is confusing Industries and by
  • 00:44:49
confusing I mean confusing for the users
  • 00:44:50
because then it's a lot more easy to
  • 00:44:52
trick people into falling for their
  • 00:44:54
scams and stealing their money uh the
  • 00:44:56
scam industry alone is worth about $1
  • 00:44:59
trillion and I think it's only going to
  • 00:45:02
    get worse especially with cryptocurrency
  • 00:45:04
because it is so confusing um it's
  • 00:45:06
really easy to get people to fall for
  • 00:45:08
stuff so I do want to cover some of the
  • 00:45:10
most common crypto scams the first one
  • 00:45:11
being fishing and this um it's the same
  • 00:45:15
as any fishing scam but it's specific to
  • 00:45:17
crypto and the reason fishing is so
  • 00:45:19
    effective is because they're sending
  • 00:45:21
malicious links to all the common places
  • 00:45:23
your email text messages social media
  • 00:45:27
even on Google ads or ads that you see
  • 00:45:29
on social media can all be fishing links
  • 00:45:33
and here's what happens when you click
  • 00:45:36
on a fishing link it's going to take you
  • 00:45:37
    to a malicious
  • 00:45:39
website and a couple of things might
  • 00:45:41
happen when you land on that website one
  • 00:45:44
they might ask you to enter your seed
  • 00:45:46
phrase to recover your account which you
  • 00:45:50
now know you never want to enter your
  • 00:45:52
seed phrase you never want to give your
  • 00:45:53
seed phrase to anyone or two they might
  • 00:45:56
ask you to connect your crypto wallet to
  • 00:45:58
the website and this is actually a more
  • 00:46:00
advanced type of fishing scam when you
  • 00:46:03
connect your wallet to a website you
  • 00:46:05
    might sign a malicious transaction
  • 00:46:07
approval this is how they'll get you and
  • 00:46:08
this is how most people fall victim to
  • 00:46:10
these scams even if they're using a cold
  • 00:46:11
wallet because a cold wallet is still
  • 00:46:14
susceptible to scams this is where the
  • 00:46:17
user is giving access to the scammer
  • 00:46:20
it's not a hack it's coming from the
  • 00:46:23
user so as long as you're aware of this
  • 00:46:25
then you can avoid it but unless you
  • 00:46:27
transaction approval is when you connect
  • 00:46:28
your wallet to a website and you're
  • 00:46:30
literally signing over access to your
  • 00:46:32
    wallet obviously unknowingly just
  • 00:46:35
thinking that you're signing like a
  • 00:46:36
    normal transaction or you're just
  • 00:46:37
connecting your wallet to the website to
  • 00:46:39
do an update you never want to connect
  • 00:46:41
your main Cold Storage wallet to any
  • 00:46:43
website I'll touch on that more on this
  • 00:46:45
next slide um but that could also happen
  • 00:46:49
or they might if you click on a link you
  • 00:46:52
might download um maare on your device
  • 00:46:55
and then they can monitor your device
  • 00:46:57
that way or potentially you know hacking
  • 00:46:59
your files and um steal your crypto if
  • 00:47:03
you're using a hot wallet so I actually
  • 00:47:05
want to show you a real example of a
  • 00:47:08
real fishing email I get sent these
  • 00:47:10
emails all the time so I'm going to
  • 00:47:13
share my screen and I want to show you
  • 00:47:14
what a real fishing emails email looks
  • 00:47:16
like because to me it's extremely
  • 00:47:18
obvious it's extremely obvious but to
  • 00:47:20
someone who has never seen one of these
  • 00:47:22
    fishing
  • 00:47:23
emails um it's it can be
  • 00:47:27
it can be hard to tell so this is a real
  • 00:47:30
scam email you can see right from the
  • 00:47:33
the top here this is a huge red flag all
  • 00:47:37
    lowercase that's it's just not
  • 00:47:39
professional so that's one of the main
  • 00:47:40
red flags it doesn't look professional
  • 00:47:43
it does look like it comes from metamask
  • 00:47:45
you can see there's um the metamask logo
  • 00:47:47
and metamask is a popular crypto wallet
  • 00:47:50
there's a metamask logo it says metamask
  • 00:47:51
IO right here but if you hover over this
  • 00:47:54
you can see it's from info@ tool.com SE
  • 00:47:58
I have no idea what that is that's not
  • 00:48:00
    related to metamask at
  • 00:48:02
all um another thing wallet will be
  • 00:48:06
    suspended if you're using a
  • 00:48:07
    non-custodial wallet like metamask no
  • 00:48:09
one can suspend your wallet they
  • 00:48:11
literally made that up um the next red
  • 00:48:14
flag is this huge like exclamation point
  • 00:48:17
big old letters don't lose access to
  • 00:48:20
    your
  • 00:48:21
account they're just trying to trick you
  • 00:48:24
into uh they're just trying to use your
  • 00:48:25
emotions this is known as social
  • 00:48:28
    engineering they're using your emotions
  • 00:48:30
against you so you're like oh no I'm
  • 00:48:31
going to lose access to my account no
  • 00:48:34
    you're not it's a non-custodial Wallet
  • 00:48:36
not going to happen even if you're using
  • 00:48:37
    a crypto
  • 00:48:39
exchange um it's it's best to just avoid
  • 00:48:41
these emails actually I wantan to I want
  • 00:48:43
to make that clear If you're receiving
  • 00:48:45
any kind of like warning email from any
  • 00:48:47
type of uh crypto exchange crypto wallet
  • 00:48:51
I wouldn't even open it I would send it
  • 00:48:52
straight to spam because you could open
  • 00:48:55
up an email and if there's an attachment
  • 00:48:57
in that email it could instantly
  • 00:48:59
    download
  • 00:49:00
maware so I just avoid opening the email
  • 00:49:03
altogether um this email didn't have an
  • 00:49:06
attachment but I did want to show you
  • 00:49:09
what one looks like and then you can see
  • 00:49:12
down here there's an update here button
  • 00:49:14
so if I if I click on this button which
  • 00:49:17
I'm not going to but if I
  • 00:49:19
did the one of those three things would
  • 00:49:21
happen they'd either ask me to enter my
  • 00:49:23
    seed
  • 00:49:24
    phrase it would download maare
  • 00:49:28
or it would ask me to connect my wallet
  • 00:49:30
    to the
  • 00:49:31
website all of all of which would lead
  • 00:49:34
to nothing good um so that is an example
  • 00:49:37
of a real fishing scam and like I said
  • 00:49:39
these scams can show up links in your
  • 00:49:41
text messages um even ads running on
  • 00:49:44
Google like you see random ads pop up um
  • 00:49:47
or ads on social media X is really
  • 00:49:49
popular for ads a lot of the ads on X
  • 00:49:53
previously known as Twitter are literal
  • 00:49:55
scams like fishing websites I can't
  • 00:49:57
believe they even allow that those to
  • 00:49:59
exist but they are out there um so you
  • 00:50:02
have to be extremely cautious the part
  • 00:50:03
of fishing scams is impersonation scams
  • 00:50:06
and it's kind of like what I just showed
  • 00:50:07
you like a a fake company will reach out
  • 00:50:09
to you pretending to be like metamask or
  • 00:50:12
crypto wallet or crypto exchange and
  • 00:50:14
they use their trusted name against you
  • 00:50:18
so they'll send you an email like the
  • 00:50:19
one you just saw and those are the two
  • 00:50:22
most common scams like fishing scams I'd
  • 00:50:24
say are the number one way people in
  • 00:50:26
    crypto get
  • 00:50:27
right next to Mau which usually comes
  • 00:50:29
from a fishing scam and It All Leads
  • 00:50:32
    back to cold
  • 00:50:34
wallets if you get a cold wallet and you
  • 00:50:37
don't connect it to any websites your
  • 00:50:39
crypto is going to be secure that's like
  • 00:50:41
    crypto security
  • 00:50:43
    101 if that's all you
  • 00:50:45
know that's pretty much all you need to
  • 00:50:47
know your crypto is going to remain
  • 00:50:49
secure get a cold wallet transfer your
  • 00:50:51
crypto to it don't connect it to the
  • 00:50:54
internet fact I think I have that on
  • 00:50:55
this next slide use a dedicated cold
  • 00:50:57
wallet so and that's a point I want to
  • 00:51:00
make if you have all your crypto say you
  • 00:51:02
have a million dollars stored on one
  • 00:51:04
cold wallet don't connect that cold
  • 00:51:06
wallet to a website then you're making
  • 00:51:08
it a hot wallet then you're exposing it
  • 00:51:09
to things like hacks and scams if you
  • 00:51:13
want the security of a cold wallet but
  • 00:51:15
you still plan to connect it to websites
  • 00:51:16
to do things like mine crypto or uh
  • 00:51:20
claim crypto airdrops or buy nfts then
  • 00:51:23
either just use a hot wallet to do that
  • 00:51:25
or buy a separate cold wallet that
  • 00:51:27
you're going to use for transactions and
  • 00:51:29
then again just never share your seed
  • 00:51:31
phrase all right I feel like I went
  • 00:51:33
    through that pretty
  • 00:51:35
quickly um so if you have any questions
  • 00:51:38
because I know you're still going to
  • 00:51:39
have a ton of questions make sure to
  • 00:51:40
drop them in the comments let me know
  • 00:51:42
I'll be answering all the questions in
  • 00:51:44
the comments um out of those almost
  • 00:51:47
10,000 comments that I've received on
  • 00:51:48
this channel I've replied to over 90% of
  • 00:51:51
them if you don't have a cold wallet yet
  • 00:51:53

  • 00:51:54
exchange or in a hot wallet
  • 00:51:57

  • 00:51:59

  • 00:52:03
you can sleep better at night knowing
  • 00:52:05
that your crypto is secure because the
  • 00:52:08
goal is to make money and during a bull
  • 00:52:10
run which I think we're headed into
  • 00:52:12
making money is the easy part keeping it
  • 00:52:14
is where everyone messes up keeping
  • 00:52:16
crypto is the hardest thing but if you
  • 00:52:18
use a cold wallet and you keep it cold
  • 00:52:21
then you're going to keep your crypto
  • 00:52:22
it's really that simple um so again I
  • 00:52:24

  • 00:52:37

  • 00:52:40

  • 00:52:44

  • 00:52:50
comments you have thanks for watching
  • 00:52:52
