Timeline
- 00:00:00 - 00:05:00
This video is a crypto masterclass aiming to answer various questions people have asked about getting started in crypto, such as buying, selling, storing crypto, and the choice between exchanges and wallets. It will cover basics suitable for any experience level, aimed at reducing confusion and providing necessary guidance for safely beginning crypto investments.
- 00:05:00 - 00:10:00
The introduction provides the speaker's background: Alex Gomez, who became interested in crypto in 2020. With experience gained from writing blogs and working with Gary Vee's company about NFTs, Alex explains the masterclass will focus on sharing fundamental knowledge about crypto without promising overnight success but ensuring a secure and informed start in the crypto world.
- 00:10:00 - 00:15:00
The video explains that cryptocurrency is essentially digital currency used for peer-to-peer transactions without intermediaries, and highlights the two main types: coins (like Ethereum on its own blockchain) and tokens (like meme tokens on existing blockchains). It briefly defines the blockchain as a decentralized digital ledger that maintains network transparency and security.
- 00:15:00 - 00:20:00
Blockchains ensure network security and uptime through decentralization. There are numerous blockchains, each with varying transaction fees, which depend on network congestion. Popular blockchains like Ethereum can have high fees when crowded, unlike cheaper alternatives such as Solana. Users can manage fees by monitoring network activity or opting for different blockchains.
- 00:20:00 - 00:25:00
Choosing which blockchain network to use is crucial when transferring crypto from exchanges to wallets. Different networks like Ethereum or Solana have unique features and transaction costs. Wallets do not store crypto but provide tools for managing keys associated with crypto accounts on blockchains. Importance of seed phrases and various types of keys (master, private, public) is explained.
- 00:25:00 - 00:30:00
The segment discusses storage options: custodial (exchanges control keys) versus non-custodial (user controls keys). It highlights risks associated with custodial storage—exchanges can freeze funds—and advantages of non-custodial wallets for full control. Two main types, hot (online, more vulnerable) and cold (offline, more secure) wallets, are utilized based on user trust and risk management preferences.
- 00:30:00 - 00:35:00
Emphasizing crypto security, particularly seed phrase protection is crucial. The master key for regaining wallet access, it should be written and stored securely. Cold wallets are recommended for secure storage over exchanges or hot wallets. Wallet types with secure chips, ease of use, and cross-device compatibility are reviewed, ensuring user-friendly and secure experience.
- 00:35:00 - 00:40:00
Top recommended wallets are Tangem, favored for user-friendliness, and Ledger, known for broader use capabilities and high-security features. Considerations for choosing wallets include security (pttection features, audits), user-friendliness (ease of setup and app functionality), coin support (available cryptocurrencies), and compatibility (device use).
- 00:40:00 - 00:45:00
Using exchanges and wallets for trading: exchanges for buying/selling crypto; cold wallets offer on-device purchases with higher fees. Swapping cryptocurrencies within exchanges is straightforward, while cold wallets provide convenience but incur extra costs. Sending crypto involves verifying and securing public addresses between sending and receiving parties, reflecting user's control over transactions.
- 00:45:00 - 00:52:54
Conveys common crypto scams like phishing and impersonation, illustrating tactics employed such as fraudulent emails or websites enticing users to expose their private information. To secure crypto, use of cold wallets is advised, keeping seed phrases confidential, and cautious website connections, offers overall safety strategies. Ends by encouraging cold wallet use for security while responding to queries.

- 00:00:00I have received nearly 10,000 comments
- 00:00:02on this channel all about crypto and a
- 00:00:04majority of those comments are questions
- 00:00:07about crypto how do I get started how do
- 00:00:09I buy crypto how do I sell my crypto do
- 00:00:12I keep my crypto on an exchange what's
- 00:00:14the best crypto exchange to use do I
- 00:00:16need a wallet what's the best crypto
- 00:00:18wallet all these things is exactly what
- 00:00:21we're going to cover in this master
- 00:00:23class and it doesn't matter where you're
- 00:00:26at in your journey if you're just
- 00:00:27getting started and you're thinking
- 00:00:29about buying crypto or maybe you already
- 00:00:30own crypto when it's on a crypto
- 00:00:31exchange or in a hot wallet or in a cold
- 00:00:35wallet there's a lot of stuff to be to
- 00:00:37cover in between all that and that's
- 00:00:39exactly what we're going to go over so
- 00:00:41it doesn't matter your level of
- 00:00:42experience I think you're going to find
- 00:00:43this master class extremely valuable
- 00:00:45because out of those 10,000 comments I'm
- 00:00:48answering as many of those questions as
- 00:00:50I can with some live examples um on this
- 00:00:55slideshow so let's jump right into it
- 00:00:56starting with who I am my name is Alex
- 00:00:58Gomez I got started in crypto in late
- 00:01:012020 buying some eth and some other
- 00:01:03random crypto stuff and I noticed almost
- 00:01:07instantly that there was a lack of
- 00:01:08educational content on the internet
- 00:01:11about crypto so I set out to share my
- 00:01:14journey of everything that I was
- 00:01:16learning and I created the website
- 00:01:18cybers sca.com I started writing various
- 00:01:21blogs about crypto when at the time nfts
- 00:01:24were super popular and that was kind of
- 00:01:25like my
- 00:01:26expertise and eventually that turned
- 00:01:29into something more I started working
- 00:01:31for Gary ve doing the same thing I was
- 00:01:33writing about crypto blockchain and
- 00:01:36nft um for his company 137 p.m I got to
- 00:01:40meet him at a couple conferences and I
- 00:01:43worked for him for about six months
- 00:01:46worked with a lot of different brands
- 00:01:47who were interested about getting into
- 00:01:49crypto did that for six months in that
- 00:01:52time I had started my own YouTube
- 00:01:53channel cyber scrilla which is what
- 00:01:55you're watching right now and it really
- 00:01:57started to take off so I decided I need
- 00:02:00to focus all on cyers scrilla and
- 00:02:02continue sharing everything that I was
- 00:02:04learning on this channel and fast
- 00:02:06forward to today and that's exactly what
- 00:02:08I'm still doing so that's why I'm so
- 00:02:10excited for this master class because
- 00:02:12this is basically everything that I've
- 00:02:13learned since I got started in 20120 and
- 00:02:17working with a bunch of different people
- 00:02:18in the industry um this isn't a how to
- 00:02:20make 100K overnight master class this is
- 00:02:24the fundamentals of crypto everything
- 00:02:26you need to know to get started and
- 00:02:29continue onward with crypto uh the space
- 00:02:32is moving extremely fast it's extremely
- 00:02:36confusing and my goal with this video is
- 00:02:38to make it a little less confusing is it
- 00:02:40going to answer every single question
- 00:02:41you have no you'll probably come out of
- 00:02:43the master class with more questions and
- 00:02:45that's exactly what you want you want to
- 00:02:46start questioning stuff but this is
- 00:02:48going to give you everything you need to
- 00:02:50get started comfortably and to secure
- 00:02:52your crypto and not get scam because
- 00:02:54that's what happens to most people so
- 00:02:56again we're going to cover the crypto
- 00:02:57Basics blockchain technology uh how to
- 00:03:00manage your crypto and crypto security
- 00:03:03and then everything in
- 00:03:05between starting with what is
- 00:03:08crypto the simplest way to explain
- 00:03:10crypto is that it's digital currency
- 00:03:13without any middlemen required you don't
- 00:03:15need a bank or any centralized entity uh
- 00:03:18to send crypto to someone else it's all
- 00:03:20peer-to-peer but I'm not going to go too
- 00:03:23deep on what crypto is or like the
- 00:03:24Bitcoin white paper all you need to know
- 00:03:26is that it's a digital currency and it's
- 00:03:29peer-to-peer
- 00:03:31now there's actually two types of
- 00:03:34cryptocurrencies well two main types of
- 00:03:36cryptocurrencies that a lot of people
- 00:03:37aren't even aware of and that is coins
- 00:03:40and tokens so coins are cryptocurrencies
- 00:03:44that have their own blockchain network
- 00:03:46an example of a coin is eth that's the
- 00:03:49native currency for the ethereum
- 00:03:51blockchain network and these
- 00:03:54cryptocurrencies coins are used for
- 00:03:56paying transaction fees on these
- 00:03:58networks then you have tokens tokens are
- 00:04:01built on existing blockchain networks um
- 00:04:04in this example pork is a meme token on
- 00:04:07top of the ethereum blockchain network
- 00:04:09so even if I'm sending pork to different
- 00:04:11wallets or I'm swapping or selling pork
- 00:04:15I'm not paying for those fees in the
- 00:04:17pork token I'm always paying in ethereum
- 00:04:21or eth because that's ethereum's native
- 00:04:23coin that's what's used to pay for these
- 00:04:26transactions but what is a blockchain
- 00:04:29you know you could could spend you can
- 00:04:30have a whole Master Class probably a
- 00:04:31whole College course on this so again
- 00:04:33I'm not going to go super deep but
- 00:04:35basically it's a digital Ledger that
- 00:04:38records transactions
- 00:04:41transparently um and it is decentralized
- 00:04:43meaning there's not one entity that
- 00:04:46controls it it's controlled by people
- 00:04:48all around the world using their own
- 00:04:50computers their own electricity so
- 00:04:52unlike a website if a website server
- 00:04:55crashes maybe it has a couple servers if
- 00:04:57they crash the website goes down and no
- 00:04:59one can use it whereas a blockchain
- 00:05:03there's thousands of people all over the
- 00:05:05world with their own
- 00:05:07computers maintaining the network so if
- 00:05:10I'm helping maintain a blockchain and my
- 00:05:13computer blows up the Network's not
- 00:05:15going to go down there's still thousands
- 00:05:17of other computers who are helping
- 00:05:18maintain and secure the network and
- 00:05:21that's the decentralization part of it
- 00:05:24and at this point there are well over a
- 00:05:26thousand blockchains I'm sure um not all
- 00:05:29of them more like wellknown I would say
- 00:05:32the most popular blockchains you know we
- 00:05:34got Bitcoin ethereum salana
- 00:05:36cardano the list goes on I won't go too
- 00:05:39deep into the different types of
- 00:05:41blockchains but just know there are a
- 00:05:43lot of blockchains and as you um you
- 00:05:46know get more into crypto you'll find
- 00:05:47the blockchain that you like the
- 00:05:49best now with the blockchain comes fees
- 00:05:53anytime you transact on the blockchain
- 00:05:55you have to pay fee to the people who
- 00:05:57are helping maintain the network because
- 00:05:59again they're using their own devices it
- 00:06:01puts a lot of stress on their
- 00:06:03computers um and they're using their own
- 00:06:05electricity so it's not cheap to
- 00:06:06maintain a blockchain so whenever you
- 00:06:08transact on a blockchain you are paying
- 00:06:10fees and these fees just ensure that the
- 00:06:13network stays secure and that it stays
- 00:06:15up and running now depending on the
- 00:06:17blockchain you use you're going to be
- 00:06:20paying different fees ethereum for
- 00:06:23example extremely expensive one of the
- 00:06:25most expensive blockchains as far as I'm
- 00:06:27aware of um back in 21 when nfts were
- 00:06:30taking off the ethereum blockchain was
- 00:06:32slam packed with users and that's how
- 00:06:36the The blockchain Works the busier the
- 00:06:38network is the more costly the fees are
- 00:06:42so it doesn't really matter how much
- 00:06:43crypto you're dealing with like let's
- 00:06:45say you're sending $100 worth of crypto
- 00:06:48to someone you're going to pay the same
- 00:06:50amount whether you're sending $100 or
- 00:06:53$100
- 00:06:54million the the value of the crypto
- 00:06:56doesn't really matter in terms of the
- 00:06:59fees you're paying it's how congested
- 00:07:02the network that you're transacting on
- 00:07:04is so again during the bull run a
- 00:07:07network like ethereum it's going to be
- 00:07:09extremely expensive I'm talking like2
- 00:07:12$300 for the transaction fee right now
- 00:07:15because the Network's not super busy
- 00:07:16you're probably paying like five to
- 00:07:17eight dollars but again when it's busy
- 00:07:20you could be paying hundreds of dollars
- 00:07:21but that's only one blockchain network a
- 00:07:24network like
- 00:07:25salana is a lot cheaper even when it's
- 00:07:28super busy you're paying about 5 cents
- 00:07:31and these are things that you definitely
- 00:07:32want to
- 00:07:33consider um you know if you're trading
- 00:07:35crypto like if you're trying to be a day
- 00:07:36trader it could be hard to do on
- 00:07:38ethereum because it's hard to make
- 00:07:40profit when the transaction fees cost
- 00:07:42you $300 it's a lot easier on a network
- 00:07:45like salana where the fees cost four
- 00:07:47cents now you can optimize these fees so
- 00:07:51you can save some money or you could
- 00:07:53spend more money depending on your goal
- 00:07:55if you want to spend less money on fees
- 00:07:57then really all you can do is wait for
- 00:08:00the network to cool down wait for less
- 00:08:02people to use it um so that could just
- 00:08:05be the time of day you're using it
- 00:08:06definitely the month so if it's during
- 00:08:09like a bear cycle when there's not a lot
- 00:08:10of people using it you're not going to
- 00:08:12pay as much but if it's during a bull
- 00:08:14run it's pretty much always going to be
- 00:08:15slam packed so if you're using a network
- 00:08:17like ethereum that'll pretty much always
- 00:08:19be expensive so you might want to
- 00:08:20consider using a different blockchain
- 00:08:23network and with that on networks like
- 00:08:25ethereum when they're slam pack busy it
- 00:08:28can be hard to get a trans action
- 00:08:29through so if you're in a rush like say
- 00:08:31you want to buy a cryptocurrency because
- 00:08:33it's going up in value and you really
- 00:08:35want that crypto right now you don't
- 00:08:36want to have to wait for it that way you
- 00:08:38can you know flip it for a profit or
- 00:08:39whatever you're G to have to pay a
- 00:08:42higher transaction fee to prioritize
- 00:08:44your transaction so if you want it to go
- 00:08:46through instantly in a matter of seconds
- 00:08:48you're going to have to pay the highest
- 00:08:49transaction fee if you don't care about
- 00:08:52when that transaction goes through you
- 00:08:53just want it to go through eventually
- 00:08:54maybe in a few hours then you can choose
- 00:08:57a lower fee and usually this is only
- 00:08:59with crypto wallets when you go to
- 00:09:01transact confirm a transaction it'll
- 00:09:04give you the option to change your
- 00:09:05network fee also known as a gas fee I
- 00:09:08forgot to mention um so you could choose
- 00:09:10the low option and it'll usually tell
- 00:09:13you it's an unestimated time it could
- 00:09:16take you know between now and a few
- 00:09:18hours or the high fee and it'll tell you
- 00:09:20it'll take like 15 seconds but again
- 00:09:23it's the difference between paying a
- 00:09:24little bit of money and a lot of bit of
- 00:09:26money for convenience and uh speed
- 00:09:30but again if you're using a blockchain
- 00:09:31like salana doesn't really matter
- 00:09:33because it's cheap and it's a lot more
- 00:09:35efficient than ethereum now one of the
- 00:09:38most common questions I see and I don't
- 00:09:40know if I've ever answered it actually
- 00:09:41because it's it's just confusing is how
- 00:09:45do I know which blockchain network my
- 00:09:47crypto is on well I think this question
- 00:09:49usually comes from people who have their
- 00:09:51crypto on a crypto exchange and they're
- 00:09:53looking to send it to their crypto
- 00:09:55wallet and when you have your crypto on
- 00:09:57a crypto exchange it's not actually on
- 00:09:59any one specific
- 00:10:01Network you actually choose which
- 00:10:03network the crypto is on assuming that
- 00:10:05it can be used on different networks so
- 00:10:08for example this um picture right here
- 00:10:11is a screenshot of the coinbase exchange
- 00:10:14and I'm selecting the network for usdt
- 00:10:17which is a stable coin cryptocurrency
- 00:10:19and you can see there's different
- 00:10:21networks that I can use ethereum Bas
- 00:10:23salana alran so whatever Network I
- 00:10:25choose is what network that
- 00:10:27cryptocurrency is going to be on but why
- 00:10:30does that matter well when you send
- 00:10:31crypto to something like a crypto wallet
- 00:10:34you need to send it on the correct
- 00:10:35Network otherwise you could end up
- 00:10:36losing all that crypto so on this next
- 00:10:40page this is a screenshot of my crypto
- 00:10:43wallet and as you can see here it's says
- 00:10:45it's on the ethereum network so if we go
- 00:10:48back here I'm sending usdt on the
- 00:10:52ethereum network to my crypto wallet
- 00:10:54address which is also on the ethereum
- 00:10:57network so and we'll get into this more
- 00:10:59But ultimately when you're sending
- 00:11:00crypto just make sure that you're
- 00:11:02sending it on the right Network and you
- 00:11:03get to choose that Network and you
- 00:11:06should easily be able to figure out what
- 00:11:08network you're sending it to when you go
- 00:11:09to receive crypto in your wallet which
- 00:11:11again I'll touch on later so as we get
- 00:11:15into crypto wallets one of the common
- 00:11:17misconceptions is that your crypto is
- 00:11:19stored on a crypto
- 00:11:21Wallet not true crypto wallets don't
- 00:11:24hold any crypto your crypto is stored on
- 00:11:28the blockchain it lives on blockchain
- 00:11:29indefinitely it never leaves a
- 00:11:31blockchain it doesn't live in any
- 00:11:33specific crypto wallet or Hardware
- 00:11:35device it's on the blockchain network on
- 00:11:38the
- 00:11:39internet um so you might be wondering
- 00:11:42well then what's a crypto wallet for if
- 00:11:44it doesn't hold any crypto then what
- 00:11:45does it do well you could think of a
- 00:11:47crypto wallet more like a tool to manage
- 00:11:49your crypto so you can use it to
- 00:11:51initiate transactions do things like buy
- 00:11:53sell and swap crypto but it also holds
- 00:11:57the keys to your crypto account account
- 00:11:59on the blockchain when you set up a
- 00:12:01crypto wallet or even an account on a
- 00:12:04crypto exchange you're basically getting
- 00:12:06an account number on the blockchain
- 00:12:07network and there are specific keys that
- 00:12:10are tied to that account which
- 00:12:13ultimately is what you want to control
- 00:12:16and secure so let's talk about these
- 00:12:19Keys when you set up a wallet a few
- 00:12:22things are happening first a master key
- 00:12:25is generated and this is like a long
- 00:12:27string of numbers
- 00:12:30and different digits so we don't usually
- 00:12:32ever deal with that that's converted
- 00:12:34into a seed phrase which is a series of
- 00:12:3612 to 24 words that act as a backup and
- 00:12:39is what you use to store or regain
- 00:12:42access to your wallet so your seed
- 00:12:43phrase is the master key to wallet
- 00:12:46anyone who gets a hold of your seed
- 00:12:48phrase can do anything with your wallet
- 00:12:51if they have your seed phrase they have
- 00:12:52your wallet just look at it that way and
- 00:12:55then from your seed phrase is derived a
- 00:12:58private key key and a private key is
- 00:13:00kind of like a secret code that allows
- 00:13:02you to access and manage your
- 00:13:03cryptocurrency accounts in your wallet
- 00:13:06so each blockchain account in your
- 00:13:07wallet has its own private key ethereum
- 00:13:10has its own private key Bitcoin has its
- 00:13:11own private key salana has its own
- 00:13:14private key so even though you can
- 00:13:16manage all those networks in one wallet
- 00:13:18under one seed phrase they all have
- 00:13:20their own private key but that means if
- 00:13:23you go to recover your wallet it'll
- 00:13:25recover all those private Keys it will
- 00:13:27recover all your crypto accounts
- 00:13:30then from the private key you get a
- 00:13:32public address and the public address is
- 00:13:34like an email address you use it to
- 00:13:36receive crypto and so if I wanted to
- 00:13:40send you crypto you would need to send
- 00:13:42me your receiving or public wallet
- 00:13:44address is the same thing and it's safe
- 00:13:47to do like it's a sharable address no
- 00:13:49one can really do anything with your
- 00:13:51public address except send you crypto if
- 00:13:53they know how to use a blockchain
- 00:13:55Explorer which you could think of as
- 00:13:56like the Google search of blockchain
- 00:13:58network
- 00:13:59then they could enter your public
- 00:14:01address and see like all the details of
- 00:14:03your wallets all your transactions all
- 00:14:05the crypto in your wallet because it is
- 00:14:07a blockchain and it's completely
- 00:14:09transparent so if you don't want someone
- 00:14:11to know like what you have in your
- 00:14:13wallet you probably don't want to send
- 00:14:15them your public address um but they're
- 00:14:17not going to be able to do anything with
- 00:14:18it it won't give them any controller
- 00:14:20access to your wallet but it is what you
- 00:14:22need if you want to receive crypto now
- 00:14:26there's a couple different types of
- 00:14:28crypto storage the first one that I want
- 00:14:31to touch on is custodial versus
- 00:14:33non-custodial a lot of people who are
- 00:14:35just getting started in crypto are using
- 00:14:38custodial storage and that's any
- 00:14:40third-party uh wallet like crypto
- 00:14:43exchanges they're all custodial storage
- 00:14:45coinbase binance Gemini Kraken all
- 00:14:48custodia wallets and all that means is
- 00:14:51that the exchange the third party owns
- 00:14:54and controls the key to your wallet so
- 00:14:57technically you don't actually control
- 00:14:59control your crypto if you have it
- 00:15:00stored on a crypto exchange because you
- 00:15:02don't control your keys The Exchange
- 00:15:04does now a lot of people think this
- 00:15:06isn't a big deal because you know it's a
- 00:15:09multi-million or billion dollar crypto
- 00:15:11exchange you should be able to trust
- 00:15:12them well you should but unfortunately
- 00:15:14that's not real life um because they
- 00:15:17control your private Keys I've had
- 00:15:20things happen to me like I bought some
- 00:15:22ethereum on coinbase and they froze my
- 00:15:24funds for two months um you know they
- 00:15:26have their reasons for doing it but
- 00:15:28ultim that shouldn't happen it's my
- 00:15:31money and I want access to it
- 00:15:32immediately I don't want to have to wait
- 00:15:33two months also my best friend same
- 00:15:36thing on coinbase he had his account
- 00:15:38locked for one year he had thousands of
- 00:15:40dollars worth of crypto stored on that
- 00:15:42that account coinbase locked his account
- 00:15:44for one year due to security concerns
- 00:15:46and it wasn't like a set time he was
- 00:15:48literally trying to regain access to it
- 00:15:50for about a year and it wasn't until he
- 00:15:52threatened legal action that they
- 00:15:54prioritized his support ticket and they
- 00:15:57pretty much just unlocked it there and
- 00:15:58then but that's a downside to crypto
- 00:16:02exchanges to custodial wallets codal
- 00:16:04wallets in my opinion are never a place
- 00:16:07that you should keep your crypto it's a
- 00:16:09good place to initially buy your crypto
- 00:16:11but you don't want to keep it there now
- 00:16:14a non-coal wallet on the other hand
- 00:16:17that's where you want to keep your
- 00:16:18crypto a non-custodial wallet gives you
- 00:16:19full control of the keys to your wallet
- 00:16:23now that's a good thing because then no
- 00:16:26one can freeze your account they're not
- 00:16:27going to freeze your crypto they can't
- 00:16:29freeze your wallet because you're in
- 00:16:31control of your wallet the downside to
- 00:16:33non-custodial wallets is that you have a
- 00:16:35lot of responsibility if you lose your
- 00:16:37seed phrase if you lose that 12 to 24
- 00:16:40words then you literally lose access to
- 00:16:42your wallet like there's no I forgot my
- 00:16:44password button when it comes to
- 00:16:46non-custodial wallets if you lose your
- 00:16:47seed phrase then you lose access to all
- 00:16:49your crypto there's no way to recover it
- 00:16:51there's no one that can help you so it
- 00:16:53is a huge responsibility if you're not
- 00:16:56willing to take on that responsibility
- 00:16:58then
- 00:16:59I guess use a custodia wallet um but I
- 00:17:03would if you're getting into crypto you
- 00:17:04should just expect to manage your own
- 00:17:07money because crypto is that's another
- 00:17:09thing it's like you want to be your own
- 00:17:11bank and to be your own bank you need to
- 00:17:12be using a non-custodial wallet and
- 00:17:15there are two types of non-custodial
- 00:17:17wallets or I should say there are two
- 00:17:19main types that most people use the
- 00:17:21first one is a hot wallet this is like a
- 00:17:24software based wallet a an app like
- 00:17:26coinbase Robin Hood uh Gemini something
- 00:17:29that you download onto your internet
- 00:17:31connected device could be your phone or
- 00:17:32your computer that you're using to
- 00:17:34manage your crypto and again you have
- 00:17:36full access full control over your keys
- 00:17:38with a hot wallet um but the risk of
- 00:17:42using a hot wallet is that because it's
- 00:17:45on your internet connected device it is
- 00:17:47prone to malware and viruses so if
- 00:17:49someone's watching your computer or if
- 00:17:51they get access to your computer then
- 00:17:53they can eventually get access to your
- 00:17:55crypto wallet and then steal all your
- 00:17:57crypto that's why I say hot wallets are
- 00:18:00not a place to store your crypto and
- 00:18:02this happens to a lot of people I just
- 00:18:04had a one of my subscribers called me
- 00:18:06the other day he had $3,500 worth of
- 00:18:09bitcoin stored on a hot wallet on his
- 00:18:12computer and he unknowingly downloaded
- 00:18:15some hour and all his Bitcoin is gone
- 00:18:18it's that easy there's no way to recover
- 00:18:20it once something like that happens in
- 00:18:22crypto unfortunately like you can and
- 00:18:24should file a police report with your
- 00:18:27local law enforcement but they're not
- 00:18:29going to do anything it's just so you
- 00:18:30have a record of it there's no way to
- 00:18:32recover stolen crypto in most
- 00:18:34cases now a coldwall on on the other
- 00:18:37hand again it gives you full control
- 00:18:39over your private keys but it stores
- 00:18:41those keys offline on a physical device
- 00:18:44so a cold wallet is a physical device
- 00:18:46like this one which I'll get into more
- 00:18:48later as well but the keys that are used
- 00:18:52to access and manage my crypto are
- 00:18:54stored on this this does not get
- 00:18:57connected to the internet I can still
- 00:18:59communicate with my phone and my
- 00:19:01computer using this but the keys always
- 00:19:04remain on here and the keys are what
- 00:19:05people need to access your crypto and
- 00:19:07that's why these are so
- 00:19:10secure so hot wallet is good
- 00:19:14for um maybe doing various transactions
- 00:19:17like on websites and stuff but it for
- 00:19:21long-term crypto storage or even short
- 00:19:23term like anything more than a week or
- 00:19:26even a couple days you really need to
- 00:19:28get a cold wallet and I'll touch more on
- 00:19:29cold wallets
- 00:19:30later now I want to touch back on the
- 00:19:32seed phrase because the seed phrase is
- 00:19:34the most important part of crypto
- 00:19:36security like if I could tell you one
- 00:19:38thing it's to never share your seed
- 00:19:40phrase the seed phrase is the one thing
- 00:19:42you need to protect because that's what
- 00:19:44gives people access to your wallet if
- 00:19:45you can protect your seed phrase then
- 00:19:47you can protect your crypto now a lot of
- 00:19:50people think because they think your
- 00:19:52crypto stored on the wallet if you lose
- 00:19:54your wallet like if you're using a cold
- 00:19:56wallet and say I smash this with the
- 00:19:58hammer or gets stolen or I lose it then
- 00:20:00I lose access to my crypto well that's
- 00:20:03not the case because crypto is not
- 00:20:05stored on the wallet it's connected to
- 00:20:07my seed phrase so let's
- 00:20:09say I lose this
- 00:20:11wallet how do I regain access to my
- 00:20:13crypto while I have my 12 to 24w seed
- 00:20:16phrase written down and stored securely
- 00:20:18somewhere and then I can go and use
- 00:20:20another wallet like this one and then I
- 00:20:23can import the seed phrase into this
- 00:20:25wallet and regain access to all of my
- 00:20:27crypto
- 00:20:29so the seed phrase again it's the most
- 00:20:31important thing and every time you get a
- 00:20:33wallet the first thing that you do is
- 00:20:36create the wallet so you're either going
- 00:20:38to create a new wallet using this device
- 00:20:40or the software if you're using a hot
- 00:20:43wallet or import an existing one so if
- 00:20:46you're trying to recover a lost or
- 00:20:48stolen or damaged wallet you're always
- 00:20:50just going to hit the import wallet
- 00:20:52option enter your seed phrase and it's
- 00:20:54literally that easy and you don't even
- 00:20:56have to use the same brand a wallet so
- 00:20:57let's say I originally created my wallet
- 00:21:00using this Ledger one and then I lost
- 00:21:03this but I had my seed phrase and I go
- 00:21:05and buy something like
- 00:21:06tangum I can import my seed phrase using
- 00:21:10this brand a wallet and still recover my
- 00:21:12crypto so it's not even it doesn't
- 00:21:13matter what wallet you're using as long
- 00:21:15as you have your seed phrase available
- 00:21:18that's what matters and we're going to
- 00:21:20get into all the different wallets
- 00:21:23later so exchanges versus hot wallets
- 00:21:26versus cold wallets I touched on this a
- 00:21:27little where should you store your
- 00:21:29crypto I just want to touch on this
- 00:21:31again because it's super important
- 00:21:34exchanges are great for buying and
- 00:21:36selling crypto like when you initially
- 00:21:37want to get in a crypto anytime you want
- 00:21:40to buy crypto you're probably using a
- 00:21:42centralized exchange like
- 00:21:44coinbase but exchanges are meant to be a
- 00:21:47place to exchange crypto to buy sell
- 00:21:50trade Cash Out crypto they're not meant
- 00:21:54as a they're not a good storage solution
- 00:21:56hot wallet
- 00:21:58again it's good if you want to connect
- 00:22:00it to decentralized websites maybe like
- 00:22:02a crypto mining website or crypto
- 00:22:04airdrops or like an nft Marketplace but
- 00:22:07because it's so prone to different hacks
- 00:22:09and M it's not a place that you want to
- 00:22:11keep your
- 00:22:12crypto they're easy to use too but it's
- 00:22:15not a place you want to keep your crypto
- 00:22:16cold Wallets on the other hand are
- 00:22:18designed specifically with security in
- 00:22:20mind and they're virtually immune to
- 00:22:23like all types of hacks both physical
- 00:22:25and digital so if someone some super
- 00:22:28super hacker came in and tried to hack
- 00:22:31this wallet it's very unlikely almost
- 00:22:33impossible that they'll be be able to
- 00:22:35extract any data that would lead them to
- 00:22:37getting my crypto and same with any
- 00:22:40maare or viruses I download on my
- 00:22:41computer if I get maare on my computer
- 00:22:44even if I connect my wallet using
- 00:22:46Bluetooth or USB because the keys are
- 00:22:48stored on this wallet the Mau is not
- 00:22:51going to be able to get to it so cold
- 00:22:53wallets are where you want to store your
- 00:22:55crypto I don't care how much you trust a
- 00:22:57crypto Exchange or how good a hot wallet
- 00:23:00you have it's not really about how good
- 00:23:03the exchange or the wallet is it's a
- 00:23:07it's about your knowledge of avoiding
- 00:23:09scams and then doing everything in your
- 00:23:11power such as using a cold wallet to
- 00:23:14secure your
- 00:23:15crypto exchanges hot
- 00:23:18wallets don't sore your crypto
- 00:23:21there now speaking of cold wallets there
- 00:23:25are dozens of cold wallets and I own
- 00:23:29like this box right here is just an
- 00:23:31example of some of the different cold
- 00:23:32wallets I own this isn't even half of
- 00:23:35the cold wallets there's probably I
- 00:23:36don't know 10 or 12 wallets in
- 00:23:39there that to say that there are a ton
- 00:23:41of cold wallets to choose
- 00:23:43from to be fair all cold wallets mainly
- 00:23:46do the same thing they store your keys
- 00:23:50and allow you to manage your
- 00:23:52crypto so how do you know which wallet
- 00:23:54you're supposed to choose well I've got
- 00:23:57it down to uh a few things that you want
- 00:23:59to look for first is security obviously
- 00:24:03you want a wallet that you can trust to
- 00:24:04secure your your keys so that your
- 00:24:06crypto remains secure basically just
- 00:24:08look for a wallet that's never been
- 00:24:10hacked and has good reviews pretty easy
- 00:24:13to find on the internet these
- 00:24:15days but also certain elements are what
- 00:24:18I expect in my cold wallet to make it a
- 00:24:20secure wallet something like a secure
- 00:24:22chip most cold Wallets on the market
- 00:24:24have a secure element chip and this is
- 00:24:25the same kind of chip that's used in
- 00:24:28your bank card and electronic passports
- 00:24:30to secure private information when it
- 00:24:33comes to cold wallets that's where your
- 00:24:35private key is stored it's where the key
- 00:24:37to your wallet is stored and those chips
- 00:24:39are immune to physical and digital
- 00:24:42hacks then also pin protection and pin
- 00:24:45protection really just prevents someone
- 00:24:47from physically accessing your wallet so
- 00:24:49that's super important and then security
- 00:24:51audits a lot of wallets have third party
- 00:24:54audits done by different security firms
- 00:24:56to prove that there are no
- 00:24:57vulnerabilties
- 00:24:58or back doors so those are like my three
- 00:25:02things that I look for in a good cold
- 00:25:05wallet next is user friendliness if your
- 00:25:07cold wallet is too confusing to even use
- 00:25:10or set up it's actually it actually
- 00:25:12becomes a liability because it's easy to
- 00:25:15make a mistake crypto is already
- 00:25:16confusing enough we don't need our
- 00:25:17crypto wallet to be confusing too so you
- 00:25:19want a really userfriendly wallet and
- 00:25:22what makes a wallet user friendly I
- 00:25:24would say is the app that it comes with
- 00:25:27and not like an overwhelming amount of
- 00:25:29different features that most people
- 00:25:31aren't going to use and then you also
- 00:25:33want like basic crypto management
- 00:25:35functions like Buy sell Swap and maybe
- 00:25:39even some staking features natively in
- 00:25:41your wallet that way you don't have to
- 00:25:43always send your crypto back and forth
- 00:25:44between the exchange in your wallet to
- 00:25:46do things like swap it or sell it you
- 00:25:48can do it directly in your cold wallet
- 00:25:51um another thing and most one of the
- 00:25:52most important things is coin support if
- 00:25:55the wallet doesn't support the crypto
- 00:25:56that you plan to hold then why would you
- 00:25:58buy it right and so this is the one
- 00:26:01thing you should be checking if you're
- 00:26:03looking at a cold wallet make sure that
- 00:26:05it supports the cryptocurrencies you
- 00:26:06plan to hold with it and all the crypto
- 00:26:09wallet websites like if you go to
- 00:26:11ledger.com which is a crypto wallet
- 00:26:13there will be a tab where it'll tell you
- 00:26:15which coins it supports so you just want
- 00:26:16to go through that list and you can
- 00:26:18search for which coins you plan on
- 00:26:20holding and then last is
- 00:26:22compatibility what device do you want to
- 00:26:25use your cold wallet with you can you
- 00:26:26can use it with your phone or computer
- 00:26:29or both if you have a preference then
- 00:26:31you want to double check that the wallet
- 00:26:32you get works with whatever device you
- 00:26:34want to use so I do want to tell you
- 00:26:37about two of my favorite cold wallets
- 00:26:39tangum is my favorite cold wallet it's
- 00:26:41the most userfriendly cold wallet on the
- 00:26:43market so if you're like a complete Noob
- 00:26:46to crypto then I wouldn't recommend any
- 00:26:49other wallet to you than this one
- 00:26:51because I'm pretty confident that if you
- 00:26:53can hop if you can microwave a Hot
- 00:26:55Pocket then you can set up a tangent
- 00:26:56wallet and use it um um and it's really
- 00:27:00easy it only takes about 3 minutes to
- 00:27:01set up it is a mobile only wallet so it
- 00:27:05only works with your mobile phone which
- 00:27:07is a good thing because the only thing I
- 00:27:09need to use this
- 00:27:11wallet is the card and my phone that's
- 00:27:14it there's no battery there's no cords I
- 00:27:17don't have to charge it uh it's super
- 00:27:19durable it's ip68 rated so it's dust
- 00:27:22waterproof it's also resistant to
- 00:27:24extreme
- 00:27:25temperatures it's also isoated so it's
- 00:27:27immune to electrostatic discharge x-ray
- 00:27:30machines and emps so like I've traveled
- 00:27:32with my tangent wallet um
- 00:27:34internationally to a few different
- 00:27:36countries I've never had an issue with
- 00:27:38it no one's ever questioned me about it
- 00:27:40and it doesn't get damaged when I when I
- 00:27:42run it through the X-ray machine and
- 00:27:44again super durable it's literally just
- 00:27:46a card you can beat it up pretty good
- 00:27:48and it's going to work and that's why it
- 00:27:50does come with a 25-year product
- 00:27:51replacement warranty um and when you
- 00:27:54order tangum you can order it in a set
- 00:27:56of two or three cards
- 00:27:58they're the same wallet they have the
- 00:28:00same keys on them but they're just a
- 00:28:02backup so like let's say I lose a card I
- 00:28:04still have a card and then of course you
- 00:28:06have your seed phrase if you lose all of
- 00:28:07them if you need to recover it um the
- 00:28:10app though is my favorite part super
- 00:28:13easy to use it has all the features you
- 00:28:14need Buy sell swap stake all in the
- 00:28:17tangum app and it supports thousands of
- 00:28:21cryptocurrencies across 70 different
- 00:28:22blockchain networks it's probably one of
- 00:28:24the best coin support cold Wallets on
- 00:28:27the market um and if you you can either
- 00:28:29scan this QR code using your phone or
- 00:28:32whatever your computer or you can just
- 00:28:34go to tangent.com and if you enter the
- 00:28:36code cyber scroll at checkout you will
- 00:28:38get 10% off the wallet it's already
- 00:28:39super affordable it's only like 50 or 60
- 00:28:41bucks so you can get 10% off your entire
- 00:28:43order um and if you use this QR code it
- 00:28:46will automatically apply that 10%
- 00:28:47discount as well but if you don't want
- 00:28:50to use your cold wallet on your mobile
- 00:28:52device if you want to use it on your
- 00:28:54desktop device or your desktop and
- 00:28:56mobile device then that's where I would
- 00:28:58recommend Ledger wallets and Ledger has
- 00:29:00currently has four different models of
- 00:29:02wallets um I own all of them The Ledger
- 00:29:05Nanos plus Ledger Nano X Ledger flex and
- 00:29:09The Ledger Stacks it can be a little
- 00:29:11overwhelming but to be fair all these
- 00:29:13models have the same level of security
- 00:29:16so it doesn't matter which one you
- 00:29:17choose it really just comes down to
- 00:29:20which um interface you like most like if
- 00:29:23you don't mind a small screen and a
- 00:29:25couple
- 00:29:26buttons then something like The Ledger
- 00:29:28nanox would be a good option because it
- 00:29:30is fairly affordable or if you want a
- 00:29:33touchcreen um a little more user
- 00:29:35friendly easier on the eyes then The
- 00:29:38Ledger Flex would be my choice but I
- 00:29:41really like Ledger because they've been
- 00:29:42around Forever The Ledger nanox was the
- 00:29:44first cold wallet that I ever
- 00:29:46owned um super easy setup when you
- 00:29:50connect your wallet the wallet walks you
- 00:29:52through every single step I forgot to
- 00:29:54mention tangum does that too but when it
- 00:29:56comes to setting up a cold wallet and
- 00:29:59getting started if you've never used one
- 00:30:01as confusing both these wallets Ledger
- 00:30:03and tangent walk you through the entire
- 00:30:05setup
- 00:30:06process and Ledger wallet also have the
- 00:30:08secure element chip in them so you know
- 00:30:10that your keys are safe and immune to
- 00:30:12all types of hacks and it also has a
- 00:30:15unique um SE secure screen feature and
- 00:30:19Ledger is the only cold wallet with a
- 00:30:21secure screen and all that means is that
- 00:30:25the secure element chip interacts
- 00:30:26directly with the screen there's no like
- 00:30:28micro um controller in between them
- 00:30:31which if there is it could be immune to
- 00:30:33hacks it's basically just a
- 00:30:34vulnerability lger is the only wallet on
- 00:30:36the market where the secure element chip
- 00:30:38communicates directly with the screen
- 00:30:40you can also use The Ledger flex and The
- 00:30:44Ledger Stacks as your pass key on like
- 00:30:47any website that you set up a TFA on
- 00:30:49which you should be setting up tfas on
- 00:30:51all your websites so those are the two
- 00:30:53wallets I recommend and again you can
- 00:30:55scan the QR code here it'll take you
- 00:30:57directly to let website and most of the
- 00:31:00time I have a deal running or Ledger has
- 00:31:01a deal running where you use my link and
- 00:31:03you get like $10 worth of free Bitcoin
- 00:31:07so again you can scan this QR code here
- 00:31:09and it'll take you to that offer now I
- 00:31:12want to get into how to buy crypto and
- 00:31:16all the things to consider all the
- 00:31:17things that come with that so if you're
- 00:31:19just getting started you've never bought
- 00:31:20crypto the first thing you need to do is
- 00:31:22choose which crypto exchange you want to
- 00:31:24use so there are some things that you
- 00:31:26need to consider when choosing a crypto
- 00:31:29Exchange number one regulation and
- 00:31:31reputation you want to verify that the
- 00:31:33exchange uh is available in your country
- 00:31:37some exchanges aren't available here in
- 00:31:38the US so even though they're really
- 00:31:40reputable exchanges I can't use them um
- 00:31:43also I really only use tier one
- 00:31:45exchanges and a tier one crypto exchange
- 00:31:47is a top tier platform uh it's known for
- 00:31:49high trading volume strong security
- 00:31:52Global adoption and is compliant with
- 00:31:54all the rules and regulations wherever
- 00:31:56it's listed so
- 00:31:58um I'll show you some of my favorite
- 00:31:59tier ones in this next slide but tier
- 00:32:01one exchanges are basically just the
- 00:32:03most popular most reputable exchanges
- 00:32:04you don't want to go use some random
- 00:32:07Korean exchange nothing against Korea um
- 00:32:10but as far as I know there's no tier one
- 00:32:12exchanges in Korea I could be wrong and
- 00:32:15then you also want to consider the fees
- 00:32:17all crypto exchanges have different fees
- 00:32:18for trading deposits withdrawals so it
- 00:32:22is definitely something worth
- 00:32:23considering I'd say a lot of the crypto
- 00:32:25exchanges will have similar fees ranging
- 00:32:27anywhere from like one to
- 00:32:293.5% but it is worth looking at and then
- 00:32:32of course supported currencies you want
- 00:32:34to make sure the exchange you use
- 00:32:35supports the currencies that you plan on
- 00:32:37buying and selling so these are three
- 00:32:40I'd say three of the most popular crypto
- 00:32:43exchanges there's a ton of other ones
- 00:32:45Kraken is my favorite exchange that's
- 00:32:47the one that I personally use again you
- 00:32:50have to look at all the ones and see
- 00:32:51what's best for you but I like Kraken
- 00:32:53I've never had any issues with them like
- 00:32:54freezing my funds or locking my account
- 00:32:57um there fees range from 0o to
- 00:33:003.75% and again it depends on what
- 00:33:02you're doing on the exchange buying
- 00:33:04crypto transferring crypto trading
- 00:33:06crypto cashing out your crypto they all
- 00:33:08have different fees and it all varies
- 00:33:09depending on the amount and stuff but in
- 00:33:12general 0 to
- 00:33:133.75% not terrible they support over 200
- 00:33:17different cryptocurrencies so that's a
- 00:33:19plus and they have a $100,000 daily
- 00:33:22withdraw limit so if you are dealing
- 00:33:24with a lot of crypto and you're like
- 00:33:26cashing out a lot of crypto you can cash
- 00:33:28out up to $100,000 per day directly to
- 00:33:31your bank account another popular one
- 00:33:34based in the US is Gemini um they have
- 00:33:37fixed fees for trading under $200 and
- 00:33:39then 1.49% fees on trades over $200 and
- 00:33:43then up to
- 00:33:453.5% um fees for trades using like your
- 00:33:48your debit card so again it's zero to
- 00:33:513.5 is percent they support 70 plus
- 00:33:55different cryptocurrencies a little less
- 00:33:56than Kraken but Gemini is a really
- 00:33:58trusted exchange and they also have a
- 00:34:01$100,000 daily withdraw limit now
- 00:34:03coinbase I would say is the most popular
- 00:34:06crypto exchange um in the United States
- 00:34:08if not in the
- 00:34:10world a lot of people use coinbase I
- 00:34:12think they have like over 100 million
- 00:34:13users coinbase is one of the first
- 00:34:15crypto exchanges I ever
- 00:34:17use I don't like coinbase because of
- 00:34:20what I've experienced because they froze
- 00:34:22my funds because my friend's account got
- 00:34:24locked um to be fair that can happen on
- 00:34:27any Exchange change it could happen on
- 00:34:29Kraken Gemini Robin Hood crypto.com
- 00:34:32binance because it's a custodial wallet
- 00:34:36these exchanges can do these things
- 00:34:38that's why I say don't keep your crypto
- 00:34:39on an exchange but I did include
- 00:34:41coinbase in this in this slide because I
- 00:34:44know it is popular I know a lot of
- 00:34:46people use it and I know a lot of people
- 00:34:48enjoy using it and it is good for
- 00:34:50beginners they have some pretty high
- 00:34:51fees 05% upwards of four I think I've
- 00:34:55seen even 5% so they definitely are
- 00:34:58charging a premium because they are a
- 00:35:00popular exchange uh they support over
- 00:35:02200 cryptocurrencies and again they have
- 00:35:05a $100,000 daily withdraw limit now when
- 00:35:09you buy crypto actually you know what
- 00:35:11let me go back to the
- 00:35:12slide because when you set up a crypto
- 00:35:15exchange account I just want you to know
- 00:35:16what to expect it's like setting up any
- 00:35:18other online account you enter your
- 00:35:20email you create a password but then
- 00:35:22you're going to need to go through the
- 00:35:24kyc verification or know your customer
- 00:35:26and if you're in the US
- 00:35:28there's really no way around kyc you
- 00:35:31could use like a non kyc exchange I
- 00:35:33wouldn't recommend it but kyc basically
- 00:35:36is just going to require all your
- 00:35:37personal information so your full legal
- 00:35:40name social security number and a
- 00:35:42picture of your ID as well as a selfie
- 00:35:44this is to verify who you are and to um
- 00:35:47fight against like money laundering and
- 00:35:49terrorism and basically any illegal
- 00:35:52activity that's why you have to do these
- 00:35:54things these exchanges wouldn't be able
- 00:35:56to wouldn't even exist or operate if
- 00:35:59they didn't have these regulations
- 00:36:01so now buying crypto you have a couple
- 00:36:04options when it comes to buying crypto
- 00:36:05currency the first option is using a
- 00:36:08crypto exchange so to do that you would
- 00:36:10just set up choose a crypto exchange
- 00:36:12whichever one you want set up your
- 00:36:14preferred account go through the
- 00:36:16verification process including kyc
- 00:36:19usually it'll take anywhere from a few
- 00:36:20minutes upwards of a few days to get
- 00:36:22your account verified after that's done
- 00:36:25you want to link your bank account or
- 00:36:26your bank card I personally link my bank
- 00:36:29account because it just seems like a
- 00:36:31smoother process like whenever I buy
- 00:36:32crypto it's a lot quicker if I have my
- 00:36:34bank account connected it's usually
- 00:36:36available instantly versus if you use a
- 00:36:37bank card it could take a little while
- 00:36:39longer plus you might be paying higher
- 00:36:41fees if you're using a bank card but
- 00:36:44once you connect a payment method you
- 00:36:46just go to uh you just search for
- 00:36:49whatever crypto you want to buy you
- 00:36:51enter how much you want to buy and you
- 00:36:52hit the buy button and then that crypto
- 00:36:54is going to show up in your portfolio on
- 00:36:56your exchange account and it's really
- 00:36:58that simple and then the next step would
- 00:37:01be to send your crypto to a crypto
- 00:37:02exchange or to a crypto wallet which is
- 00:37:04what I'll show you in a bit option
- 00:37:06number two though for buying crypto you
- 00:37:08don't have to ever touch a crypto
- 00:37:10exchange if you don't want to you can
- 00:37:12buy crypto directly from your cold
- 00:37:15wallet now to be fair they do work with
- 00:37:17thirdparty exchanges to do this but that
- 00:37:19way you don't have to buy crypto on an
- 00:37:21exchange and then send it to your cold
- 00:37:23wallet you can just buy it using your
- 00:37:25cold wallet and then it'll arrive in
- 00:37:27your wallet so that way again you're not
- 00:37:29transferring uh different things so to
- 00:37:31do that this example I have on screen is
- 00:37:33using the tangent wallet you just open
- 00:37:36up the app select the crypto you want to
- 00:37:37buy press the buy button and then there
- 00:37:39will be onscreen instructions to set up
- 00:37:42your account again you'll have to go
- 00:37:43through kyc connect your bank account
- 00:37:45and then eventually you'll confirm the
- 00:37:47purchase and you don't have to send
- 00:37:49anything to your wallet it'll arrive
- 00:37:51automatically in your wallet the only
- 00:37:53downside I'd say to purchasing crypto
- 00:37:55directly in your cold wallet is the fee
- 00:37:57are probably going to be a little higher
- 00:37:59because it's it's more of a convenience
- 00:38:00fee so rather than 3% you're paying
- 00:38:03upwards of 5% um so it is something to
- 00:38:06consider when buying crypto directly
- 00:38:08through your cold wallet now another
- 00:38:11thing that's really important to know is
- 00:38:13swapping crypto or converting crypto so
- 00:38:16selling one
- 00:38:18crypto basically buying another one you
- 00:38:20don't have to you know sell your crypto
- 00:38:23for cash and then buy crypto again you
- 00:38:26can just take the one crypto you have
- 00:38:29and convert it into another
- 00:38:31crypto again there's a couple ways you
- 00:38:33can do this I'll show you two ways the
- 00:38:35first option is using a crypto exchange
- 00:38:37whether that's coinbase the example on
- 00:38:39screen is coinbase you would just log
- 00:38:40into your crypto exchange account tap
- 00:38:43the buy and sell option and then choose
- 00:38:45convert and then you just use the panel
- 00:38:47to choose which coin you're swapping
- 00:38:49from and and then of course enter
- 00:38:51however much you want to swap and then
- 00:38:53you can tap review order this will show
- 00:38:54you all the details like how much of the
- 00:38:56other cryptocurrency curency you're
- 00:38:57going to receive as well as any fees
- 00:39:00that they're going to charge you and
- 00:39:02then once you confirm the transaction uh
- 00:39:04the new cryptocurrency will just
- 00:39:06automatically show up in your account
- 00:39:08and the old one that you converted from
- 00:39:10will disappear the second option is you
- 00:39:12can convert cryptocurrency directly in
- 00:39:15your cold wallet again this example on
- 00:39:17screen is the tangum cold wallet and you
- 00:39:20just open up the app select the crypto
- 00:39:22that you want to swap press the swap
- 00:39:23button and then enter how much you want
- 00:39:26to swap choose a currency that you want
- 00:39:28to swap to and then you confirm the
- 00:39:30transaction and again the one the
- 00:39:32original crypto will be gone from your
- 00:39:34wallet the new one will arrive again
- 00:39:36you're probably going to pay a higher
- 00:39:39swap fee if you're doing it directly in
- 00:39:40your cold wallet versus doing it on a
- 00:39:42crypto exchange so just always keep that
- 00:39:44in mind you're always paying a
- 00:39:46convenience
- 00:39:47fee now sending crypto this is one of
- 00:39:50the most important aspects of crypto
- 00:39:53because in order to secure your crypto
- 00:39:55you need to send it from The Exchange to
- 00:39:57your cold wallet assuming you bought it
- 00:39:59originally on a crypto exchange the one
- 00:40:01thing like if you know that you need
- 00:40:03your public address to get crypto that's
- 00:40:06that's really all you need to know the
- 00:40:07only thing you need to send crypto is
- 00:40:09the receiving wallet's public address if
- 00:40:12you have that then you can send crypto
- 00:40:14and it's the same it doesn't matter what
- 00:40:16crypto exchange or what crypto wallet
- 00:40:18you're using the process is literally
- 00:40:21the same don't let this confuse you it's
- 00:40:24super simple so let's let's go through
- 00:40:26it step by step this is an example using
- 00:40:28my tangent wallet so let's say you want
- 00:40:31to send crypto from
- 00:40:34coinbase to your tangum cold wallet
- 00:40:37first thing you want to do is go to your
- 00:40:39cold wallet the receiving Wallet tap the
- 00:40:42cryptocurrency that you want to receive
- 00:40:44in your wallet select the receive button
- 00:40:46then you want to copy the public address
- 00:40:48then you want to log into your
- 00:40:49cryptocurrency account go to the crypto
- 00:40:51that you're sending and then paste your
- 00:40:54cold wallet's receiving address in the
- 00:40:56send spot that's really all you need to
- 00:40:58know the only thing you need to send
- 00:41:01crypto is the receiving address so
- 00:41:04whatever wallet you're sending it to
- 00:41:06copy the receiving address from that
- 00:41:08wallet paste it into the send spot
- 00:41:10wherever you're sending the crypto from
- 00:41:13now one tip that I will give you if it's
- 00:41:15your first time sending crypto say
- 00:41:18you're sending $1,000 worth of crypto to
- 00:41:20your cold wallet don't send the entire
- 00:41:22$1,000 all at once that way if you do
- 00:41:25make a mistake you would only lose a
- 00:41:27little bit of money so try sending $50
- 00:41:29first if you do that successfully and
- 00:41:31you're confident in your ability to send
- 00:41:33crypto then send the rest of it but you
- 00:41:35can always just do a small test amount
- 00:41:37first uh just note that you will have to
- 00:41:40pay the transaction fee twice something
- 00:41:43to consider um but at least for your
- 00:41:45first time it's not a bad idea next I
- 00:41:47want to talk about selling crypto again
- 00:41:50there's a couple options for selling
- 00:41:52crypto as well and by selling crypto I
- 00:41:54mean taking your crypto and turning it
- 00:41:57back into Fiat money and then eventually
- 00:42:00you know sending it back to your bank
- 00:42:01account so that you can do things like
- 00:42:04pay bills buy groceries go on vacation
- 00:42:07whatever it is you want to do with your
- 00:42:08crypto
- 00:42:10earnings so the first option is to use a
- 00:42:13crypto exchange so whatever crypto
- 00:42:15exchange that you originally bought your
- 00:42:17crypto on you can send your crypto back
- 00:42:19to that exchange and sell it when to do
- 00:42:22that um you just send the crypto back to
- 00:42:25the exchange so it's the same process in
- 00:42:27Reverse you'd get the receiving address
- 00:42:29from your exchange press the send button
- 00:42:31in your cold wallet paste the receiving
- 00:42:33address from the exchange hit send and
- 00:42:35it'll show up in the
- 00:42:36exchange but once you have your crypto
- 00:42:38on the exchange you just go to your
- 00:42:39portfolio select the crypto that you
- 00:42:42want to
- 00:42:43sell tap the sell button and then choose
- 00:42:46your native currency USD Euros whatever
- 00:42:49it is and then um it'll be like an
- 00:42:51instant sell and then from there you can
- 00:42:54press the withdraw button and it'll send
- 00:42:56that that Fiat money back to your bank
- 00:42:58account usually within 1 to 3
- 00:43:01days another option if you don't want to
- 00:43:04send crypto currency from your cold
- 00:43:06wallet back to the crypto exchange to
- 00:43:07sell it you can sell it directly from
- 00:43:09your cold wallet you can cash out crypto
- 00:43:11directly from your cold wallet a lot of
- 00:43:13people don't know this um again you're
- 00:43:16paying higher fees but it's the
- 00:43:19convenience thing so to do that this is
- 00:43:21an example using my tangent wallet you
- 00:43:23just open up the cold Wallet app
- 00:43:25whichever one you use select the crypto
- 00:43:28that you want to sell tap the sell
- 00:43:29button and then for tangum you just
- 00:43:31follow the onscreen instructions to
- 00:43:33create an account on the third party
- 00:43:35exchange that they use which is moonay
- 00:43:36at the time and then you'll connect your
- 00:43:39bank account and you'll literally be
- 00:43:40able to cash out your crypto um directly
- 00:43:43to your bank account all from your cold
- 00:43:45wallet and again like I said you're
- 00:43:47you're going to come out of this live
- 00:43:49stream with probably even more questions
- 00:43:51than you entered it with and that's
- 00:43:52completely okay this just will live as a
- 00:43:55guide as a resource that you can use um
- 00:43:58but to really figure this stuff out you
- 00:44:00just need to go through the step
- 00:44:01yourself and do it it seems scary I'm
- 00:44:03just here to tell you it's really not
- 00:44:05that scary especially after you do it
- 00:44:07once or twice super simple like I said I
- 00:44:10use my wallet on a weekly basis and I'm
- 00:44:12sending swapping receiving crypto doing
- 00:44:15the whole shebang in literally a matter
- 00:44:17of seconds so it doesn't take that much
- 00:44:19to get to that point but all this stuff
- 00:44:22is uh relatively easy to learn the one
- 00:44:26thing that even the experts or the pros
- 00:44:28are always failing at is securing their
- 00:44:31crypto and that's because crypto right
- 00:44:33now is a three trillion doll industry
- 00:44:36it's almost double the size of the
- 00:44:37pharmaceutical industry and scammers
- 00:44:41love Industries where there's a lot of
- 00:44:43money going around but what they love
- 00:44:45even more is confusing Industries and by
- 00:44:49confusing I mean confusing for the users
- 00:44:50because then it's a lot more easy to
- 00:44:52trick people into falling for their
- 00:44:54scams and stealing their money uh the
- 00:44:56scam industry alone is worth about $1
- 00:44:59trillion and I think it's only going to
- 00:45:02get worse especially with cryptocurrency
- 00:45:04because it is so confusing um it's
- 00:45:06really easy to get people to fall for
- 00:45:08stuff so I do want to cover some of the
- 00:45:10most common crypto scams the first one
- 00:45:11being fishing and this um it's the same
- 00:45:15as any fishing scam but it's specific to
- 00:45:17crypto and the reason fishing is so
- 00:45:19effective is because they're sending
- 00:45:21malicious links to all the common places
- 00:45:23your email text messages social media
- 00:45:27even on Google ads or ads that you see
- 00:45:29on social media can all be fishing links
- 00:45:33and here's what happens when you click
- 00:45:36on a fishing link it's going to take you
- 00:45:37to a malicious
- 00:45:39website and a couple of things might
- 00:45:41happen when you land on that website one
- 00:45:44they might ask you to enter your seed
- 00:45:46phrase to recover your account which you
- 00:45:50now know you never want to enter your
- 00:45:52seed phrase you never want to give your
- 00:45:53seed phrase to anyone or two they might
- 00:45:56ask you to connect your crypto wallet to
- 00:45:58the website and this is actually a more
- 00:46:00advanced type of fishing scam when you
- 00:46:03connect your wallet to a website you
- 00:46:05might sign a malicious transaction
- 00:46:07approval this is how they'll get you and
- 00:46:08this is how most people fall victim to
- 00:46:10these scams even if they're using a cold
- 00:46:11wallet because a cold wallet is still
- 00:46:14susceptible to scams this is where the
- 00:46:17user is giving access to the scammer
- 00:46:20it's not a hack it's coming from the
- 00:46:23user so as long as you're aware of this
- 00:46:25then you can avoid it but unless you
- 00:46:27transaction approval is when you connect
- 00:46:28your wallet to a website and you're
- 00:46:30literally signing over access to your
- 00:46:32wallet obviously unknowingly just
- 00:46:35thinking that you're signing like a
- 00:46:36normal transaction or you're just
- 00:46:37connecting your wallet to the website to
- 00:46:39do an update you never want to connect
- 00:46:41your main Cold Storage wallet to any
- 00:46:43website I'll touch on that more on this
- 00:46:45next slide um but that could also happen
- 00:46:49or they might if you click on a link you
- 00:46:52might download um maare on your device
- 00:46:55and then they can monitor your device
- 00:46:57that way or potentially you know hacking
- 00:46:59your files and um steal your crypto if
- 00:47:03you're using a hot wallet so I actually
- 00:47:05want to show you a real example of a
- 00:47:08real fishing email I get sent these
- 00:47:10emails all the time so I'm going to
- 00:47:13share my screen and I want to show you
- 00:47:14what a real fishing emails email looks
- 00:47:16like because to me it's extremely
- 00:47:18obvious it's extremely obvious but to
- 00:47:20someone who has never seen one of these
- 00:47:22fishing
- 00:47:23emails um it's it can be
- 00:47:27it can be hard to tell so this is a real
- 00:47:30scam email you can see right from the
- 00:47:33the top here this is a huge red flag all
- 00:47:37lowercase that's it's just not
- 00:47:39professional so that's one of the main
- 00:47:40red flags it doesn't look professional
- 00:47:43it does look like it comes from metamask
- 00:47:45you can see there's um the metamask logo
- 00:47:47and metamask is a popular crypto wallet
- 00:47:50there's a metamask logo it says metamask
- 00:47:51IO right here but if you hover over this
- 00:47:54you can see it's from info@ tool.com SE
- 00:47:58I have no idea what that is that's not
- 00:48:00related to metamask at
- 00:48:02all um another thing wallet will be
- 00:48:06suspended if you're using a
- 00:48:07non-custodial wallet like metamask no
- 00:48:09one can suspend your wallet they
- 00:48:11literally made that up um the next red
- 00:48:14flag is this huge like exclamation point
- 00:48:17big old letters don't lose access to
- 00:48:20your
- 00:48:21account they're just trying to trick you
- 00:48:24into uh they're just trying to use your
- 00:48:25emotions this is known as social
- 00:48:28engineering they're using your emotions
- 00:48:30against you so you're like oh no I'm
- 00:48:31going to lose access to my account no
- 00:48:34you're not it's a non-custodial Wallet
- 00:48:36not going to happen even if you're using
- 00:48:37a crypto
- 00:48:39exchange um it's it's best to just avoid
- 00:48:41these emails actually I wantan to I want
- 00:48:43to make that clear If you're receiving
- 00:48:45any kind of like warning email from any
- 00:48:47type of uh crypto exchange crypto wallet
- 00:48:51I wouldn't even open it I would send it
- 00:48:52straight to spam because you could open
- 00:48:55up an email and if there's an attachment
- 00:48:57in that email it could instantly
- 00:48:59download
- 00:49:00maware so I just avoid opening the email
- 00:49:03altogether um this email didn't have an
- 00:49:06attachment but I did want to show you
- 00:49:09what one looks like and then you can see
- 00:49:12down here there's an update here button
- 00:49:14so if I if I click on this button which
- 00:49:17I'm not going to but if I
- 00:49:19did the one of those three things would
- 00:49:21happen they'd either ask me to enter my
- 00:49:23seed
- 00:49:24phrase it would download maare
- 00:49:28or it would ask me to connect my wallet
- 00:49:30to the
- 00:49:31website all of all of which would lead
- 00:49:34to nothing good um so that is an example
- 00:49:37of a real fishing scam and like I said
- 00:49:39these scams can show up links in your
- 00:49:41text messages um even ads running on
- 00:49:44Google like you see random ads pop up um
- 00:49:47or ads on social media X is really
- 00:49:49popular for ads a lot of the ads on X
- 00:49:53previously known as Twitter are literal
- 00:49:55scams like fishing websites I can't
- 00:49:57believe they even allow that those to
- 00:49:59exist but they are out there um so you
- 00:50:02have to be extremely cautious the part
- 00:50:03of fishing scams is impersonation scams
- 00:50:06and it's kind of like what I just showed
- 00:50:07you like a a fake company will reach out
- 00:50:09to you pretending to be like metamask or
- 00:50:12crypto wallet or crypto exchange and
- 00:50:14they use their trusted name against you
- 00:50:18so they'll send you an email like the
- 00:50:19one you just saw and those are the two
- 00:50:22most common scams like fishing scams I'd
- 00:50:24say are the number one way people in
- 00:50:26crypto get
- 00:50:27right next to Mau which usually comes
- 00:50:29from a fishing scam and It All Leads
- 00:50:32back to cold
- 00:50:34wallets if you get a cold wallet and you
- 00:50:37don't connect it to any websites your
- 00:50:39crypto is going to be secure that's like
- 00:50:41crypto security
- 00:50:43101 if that's all you
- 00:50:45know that's pretty much all you need to
- 00:50:47know your crypto is going to remain
- 00:50:49secure get a cold wallet transfer your
- 00:50:51crypto to it don't connect it to the
- 00:50:54internet fact I think I have that on
- 00:50:55this next slide use a dedicated cold
- 00:50:57wallet so and that's a point I want to
- 00:51:00make if you have all your crypto say you
- 00:51:02have a million dollars stored on one
- 00:51:04cold wallet don't connect that cold
- 00:51:06wallet to a website then you're making
- 00:51:08it a hot wallet then you're exposing it
- 00:51:09to things like hacks and scams if you
- 00:51:13want the security of a cold wallet but
- 00:51:15you still plan to connect it to websites
- 00:51:16to do things like mine crypto or uh
- 00:51:20claim crypto airdrops or buy nfts then
- 00:51:23either just use a hot wallet to do that
- 00:51:25or buy a separate cold wallet that
- 00:51:27you're going to use for transactions and
- 00:51:29then again just never share your seed
- 00:51:31phrase all right I feel like I went
- 00:51:33through that pretty
- 00:51:35quickly um so if you have any questions
- 00:51:38because I know you're still going to
- 00:51:39have a ton of questions make sure to
- 00:51:40drop them in the comments let me know
- 00:51:42I'll be answering all the questions in
- 00:51:44the comments um out of those almost
- 00:51:4710,000 comments that I've received on
- 00:51:48this channel I've replied to over 90% of
- 00:51:51them if you don't have a cold wallet yet
- 00:51:53maybe you have your crypto on an
- 00:51:54exchange or in a hot wallet
- 00:51:57please just consider getting one it's
- 00:51:59not hard to
- 00:52:01use they're super simple convenient and
- 00:52:03you can sleep better at night knowing
- 00:52:05that your crypto is secure because the
- 00:52:08goal is to make money and during a bull
- 00:52:10run which I think we're headed into
- 00:52:12making money is the easy part keeping it
- 00:52:14is where everyone messes up keeping
- 00:52:16crypto is the hardest thing but if you
- 00:52:18use a cold wallet and you keep it cold
- 00:52:21then you're going to keep your crypto
- 00:52:22it's really that simple um so again I
- 00:52:24got the QR code here for tangum this
- 00:52:26will take you straight to their website
- 00:52:27give you 10% off or the QR code here for
- 00:52:30Ledger this will take you straight to
- 00:52:32their website and if there's a deal
- 00:52:34running where you get the free Bitcoin
- 00:52:35you're going to get that deal instantly
- 00:52:37um I'll also leave links and discount
- 00:52:40codes um and maybe some reviews to these
- 00:52:42wallets if you want to learn more about
- 00:52:44them I'll leave those in the description
- 00:52:46of the video as well so definitely make
- 00:52:48sure to check those out drop any
- 00:52:50comments you have thanks for watching
- 00:52:52I'll see you in the next one peace out
