00:00:00
so we were talking about throne life and
00:00:04
how that it is the ultimate intention of
00:00:09
God for our maturity you know the Bible
00:00:11
says I remember the parable of the sower
00:00:15
how many remember there was four kinds
00:00:18
of ground and there's good ground and
00:00:21
the good ground then brings forth fruit
00:00:24
right how many of you have received the
00:00:27
word of the gospel and been born again
00:00:30
so I guess you'd be good ground then
00:00:32
wouldn't you well here's the here's the
00:00:35
additional thought about that Jesus said
00:00:40
the good ground brings forth fruit some
00:00:43
30 some 60 some a hundredfold so the
00:00:50
very same word can bring forth
00:00:53
revelation in an increasing power and
00:00:58
depth how many know that when you first
00:01:02
heard the gospel you receive Jesus as
00:01:04
your Savior but how many know after
00:01:08
walking up in for 20 or 30 years you've
00:01:10
known him as your savior and a whole
00:01:12
different sense okay so so it's a it's a
00:01:17
one of the things that we wrestle with
00:01:19
in our culture is we think more facts
00:01:23
equals more knowledge but knowledge
00:01:28
biblically is not the accumulation of
00:01:31
good information it's the transformation
00:01:35
of your inner life that's what real
00:01:39
knowledge that's what biblical knowledge
00:01:41
is it's when the knowledge is revealed
00:01:43
by the spirit and you possess it and you
00:01:46
walk in it you say that's that's that
00:01:49
the transformative knowledge of
00:01:54
Scripture that's where I'm stalking in
00:01:56
the last session a little bit about
00:01:57
Bible meditation taking just a small
00:02:00
portion of Scripture and and chewing on
00:02:02
it thinking about it applying it to your
00:02:06
life just asking yourself the question
00:02:07
how can I apply this to my life Holy
00:02:11
Spirit how
00:02:11
can I apply this verse to my life what
00:02:14
does this mean for my walk with you
00:02:16
you see and we just began to chew on of
00:02:19
course Joshua said that that that was
00:02:21
the key to success and dealing wisely in
00:02:24
life well God told Joshua that if he
00:02:26
would meditate in the word that God
00:02:29
would give him good success and he would
00:02:32
deal wisely in the affairs of life well
00:02:34
all of us no matter what our or where we
00:02:39
do our Kingdom business you know what
00:02:41
many of us are called into the different
00:02:43
areas of the culture but and you need
00:02:45
God's wisdom there well meditation is
00:02:49
the key to wisdom learning to take the
00:02:51
Word of God and think through on it see
00:02:53
and as I started to say the end of the
00:02:56
last session that that psychologists are
00:03:00
beginning to say the way you deal with
00:03:02
the information overload of our culture
00:03:04
is you take some time to focus on one
00:03:07
thing and that helps your mind be more
00:03:10
disciplined well God taught Joshua that
00:03:13
and he taught the psalmist that the Old
00:03:16
Covenant people learned to meditate in
00:03:18
the scriptures and they would get the
00:03:20
scripture really deeply within them and
00:03:22
they would give the holy spirit on
00:03:24
opportunity if you show them how to
00:03:26
apply that to their lives it's not about
00:03:29
how much knowledge we've accumulated in
00:03:31
our head it's about how much unfolding
00:03:35
of that knowledge has come to our hearts
00:03:37
whereby were able to apply it to our
00:03:39
lives and walk it out you see in the
00:03:42
Hebrew concept of wisdom it has nothing
00:03:44
to do with accumulated knowledge wisdom
00:03:47
is what you do with your life wisdom is
00:03:51
how you live you see and so Jesus has
00:03:57
led the Apostle Paul to pray for us that
00:03:59
God would grant us a spirit of wisdom
00:04:01
and revelation in the knowledge of him
00:04:06
and so if God gives you a spirit of
00:04:10
wisdom and revelation in the knowledge
00:04:11
of him you're going to know how to do
00:04:14
life you see one of the one of the
00:04:19
things as I love study and I love
00:04:21
research and I
00:04:22
you know all that kind of stuff but I
00:04:25
realized that that that the bottom line
00:04:29
for my walk with the Lord is I've ever
00:04:31
known how to make it workable in my own
00:04:34
life I've got to make it practical you
00:04:37
see it's got to have seat you see you
00:04:42
could I was listening to Randy Randy
00:04:46
does a monthly broadcast and I was
00:04:50
watching it last month and he had a
00:04:52
theologian on a Pentecostal theologian
00:04:55
that's written some great stuff Ruth
00:04:58
friend or rather I came here how John
00:05:01
says his name but you know he said
00:05:03
thelos and run then he asked him a
00:05:05
question about theology and he said well
00:05:08
you know he said if you took all the
00:05:10
theologians that ever were and you laid
00:05:15
them end upon end you'd never come to a
00:05:17
conclusion
00:05:22
now that's when if the erosion I thought
00:05:25
that was funny but the the the point is
00:05:28
that often times theology just deals
00:05:32
with intellectual knowledge of the
00:05:35
Scriptures but the real knowledge the
00:05:38
life transforming knowledge comes as the
00:05:41
spirit teaches us you see as we start as
00:05:44
we sit quietly in the presence of the
00:05:46
Lord and just focus on the word and we
00:05:48
say Lord I need you to show me how to
00:05:50
make this real in my life and walk it
00:05:52
out and he begins to unfold it to us and
00:05:55
our revelation begins to grow you see
00:05:59
and as our revelation grows we see Jesus
00:06:02
see that the the the way the Scriptures
00:06:08
are called the logos of God and service
00:06:11
Jesus called the logos of God why is
00:06:13
that well because if by the spirit you
00:06:16
read the written logos the living logos
00:06:20
emerges from the pages the Apostle Paul
00:06:27
said that the mystery of the gospel was
00:06:30
hidden from previous generations but now
00:06:36
through the scriptures it's made known
00:06:41
well what scriptures did he have just
00:06:45
the old ones right the Old Testament so
00:06:49
he's reading the Old Testament under the
00:06:52
illumination of the living resurrected
00:06:54
Christ in him and he's starting to see
00:06:58
Christ in every page why because the
00:07:02
spirit of revelation on this Christ you
00:07:06
know what Jesus said to the to the
00:07:08
feathers on the road to emmaus II it
00:07:11
says he opened up the scriptures to them
00:07:14
and showed them the things concerning
00:07:16
himself
00:07:19
well when the Spirit is your tutor he's
00:07:22
going to show you Jesus from Genesis to
00:07:26
Malachi and from Matthew to Revelation
00:07:30
because the book is about him
00:07:34
the book has been given to reveal him
00:07:38
but if you just see types and shadows
00:07:40
but not the reality of Christ in the Old
00:07:43
Testament you're not seeing it after the
00:07:45
spirit Paul started reading in the light
00:07:54
of the resurrected Christ the scriptures
00:07:56
he'd known all his life and had been
00:07:57
trained in and he's reading Genesis 1
00:08:01
and the Spirit of the Lord is hovering
00:08:06
over the over the darkness and God says
00:08:09
light be and lie to us Paul's reading
00:08:15
that he says that's about the gospel
00:08:19
that's about the preaching of Christ
00:08:23
it's over in 2nd Corinthians chapter 4
00:08:26
he says God who caused light to shine
00:08:31
out of darkness has shown in your hearts
00:08:34
to make known the glory of God in the
00:08:39
face of Jesus the new creation imaged in
00:08:46
the old creation Paul sees the gospel in
00:08:50
Genesis 1 so he gets over to the Genesis
00:08:54
3 where Eve has brought forth out of
00:08:56
Adam and and Adam prophesies and says
00:09:01
for this cause a man shall leave mother
00:09:02
and what the mother and father and be
00:09:04
joined to his bride and they shall be as
00:09:08
one and then over in Ephesians 5 he
00:09:12
quotes the same verses about Christ in
00:09:14
the church what's he doing he's seen
00:09:17
Christ in the scriptures revealed by the
00:09:20
Holy Spirit
00:09:22
you see it's good to read the Bible it's
00:09:24
good to study the Bible it's good to
00:09:26
have a daily Bible reading but we can
00:09:29
interact with the Holy Spirit in a
00:09:32
profound way on just a phrase of
00:09:34
Scripture I was over see a minister's
00:09:41
organization that was founded by John G
00:09:43
Lakes son-in-law
00:09:45
to further the vision of John G Lake
00:09:48
John G lake was a powerful man of God
00:09:53
who demonstrated a kind of Christianity
00:09:56
with Dominion that you read the stories
00:09:59
I tell you sometimes sometimes because
00:10:05
we find more women in church than we do
00:10:08
men sometimes people accuse Christianity
00:10:12
of being a feminine religion but if you
00:10:16
ever want to read about a manly
00:10:20
Christianity read John G Lake I mean no
00:10:27
macho man who read John G Lake is going
00:10:30
to think this guy's a wimp it's just he
00:10:35
just did amazing things confronted he
00:10:38
went to Africa and and the ministers in
00:10:44
Africa were afraid of the witch doctors
00:10:47
lakes said bring him on in fact some of
00:10:51
them would come into his meetings he'd
00:10:53
know who they were he'd confront him
00:10:54
cast the demons out of them I'm he was
00:10:58
just an outrageous guy but but I don't
00:11:01
want to get off an editor or preach on
00:11:02
that because he's a fascinating
00:11:05
character and a great men you know
00:11:10
Healing Rooms today are based on the
00:11:13
anointing that Cal Pierson and others
00:11:17
asked God to restore that John G Lake
00:11:20
walked in but anyway I was meditating
00:11:25
one day on Ephesians 2:10 for we are his
00:11:29
workmanship created in Christ Jesus for
00:11:33
good works that God created us to walk
00:11:36
in them and I'm meditating on that in
00:11:41
the morning and then I had to go to a
00:11:42
board meeting for the minister's group
00:11:47
that I'm a part of and and I'm still
00:11:53
driving on the freeway thinking
00:11:55
I am his workmanship created in Christ
00:11:58
Jesus and I all of a sudden I thought
00:12:04
well the rest of the verse created for
00:12:07
good works that God created us to walk
00:12:09
in and all of a sudden I'm on the
00:12:12
freeway but I'm having a vision of
00:12:15
heaven while I'm driving down the
00:12:18
freeway I don't know who was driving the
00:12:21
car but well I'm seeing this vision of
00:12:26
heaven and it's like there's a entryway
00:12:30
and here's John G Lake and here's the W
00:12:34
Canyon and they're both standing there
00:12:37
with tears flooding down their faces and
00:12:39
this multitude of people are coming into
00:12:41
heaven and in lake in Canyon are
00:12:44
thanking them for not losing the vision
00:12:47
of empowered Christianity and of course
00:12:54
I'm looking at this and then all of a
00:12:55
sudden it it folds into the face of
00:12:58
Jesus and if you've ever I've only seen
00:13:02
the face of Jesus a couple of times but
00:13:05
I don't last real long looking in his
00:13:08
eyes just the love is just so
00:13:12
overwhelming that you just start weeping
00:13:14
and that's what I'm doing and so I'm
00:13:17
seeing Jesus and I'm weeping and then
00:13:22
all of a sudden I'm back on the freeway
00:13:24
driving now I don't have encounters like
00:13:29
that very often you know I have we have
00:13:32
people in our church and perhaps you
00:13:33
know folks like this who are seers and
00:13:35
it's a daily occurrence for them to have
00:13:38
visions I'm not particularly gifted or
00:13:42
wired that way I do have some but but
00:13:44
anyway my point was the launching pad
00:13:48
for that vision was meditating in the
00:13:52
scriptures I'm not suggesting that if
00:13:55
you meditate in the scriptures you'll
00:13:57
always have visions but what I'm
00:13:59
suggesting is because that had become a
00:14:01
part of my life
00:14:03
it became the launching pad to move me
00:14:07
into a greater revelation of the Lord
00:14:09
and His purposes for my life and what I
00:14:13
am saying is as we learn to feed upon
00:14:16
God's Word to meditate in the scriptures
00:14:21
it's all 1 tells us that we'll be like a
00:14:25
tree by the waters whose which will bear
00:14:30
fruit in its season and it doesn't
00:14:32
wither or dry up and so what is going to
00:14:36
make us consistent in the Christian life
00:14:38
is it a daily promise from the promise
00:14:41
box well if you meditate on that daily
00:14:44
promise look but I'm not this how about
00:14:47
seeing Lord where do you want me to
00:14:49
meditate and whatever scripture comes to
00:14:54
mind go there and focus on that for 15
00:14:57
minutes in the morning just focus
00:15:00
yourself on that for a few minutes and
00:15:02
let that let the Holy Spirit see we're
00:15:05
we're we're in a culture that wants
00:15:08
everything microwave but not only will
00:15:12
it benefit you spiritually but it will
00:15:15
also benefit your mental stability as I
00:15:21
said I read that article that said you
00:15:23
know the way you deal with all this
00:15:24
information overload is you focus your
00:15:26
mind on some one thing for a few minutes
00:15:29
a day and learn to do that well what
00:15:32
about meditating on the truths the
00:15:34
eternal truths of god's great Redemption
00:15:36
i'll tell you I personally believe the
00:15:39
reason that somebody sent me an email a
00:15:42
while back and it listed how the
00:15:46
percentages of the great intellects and
00:15:48
the great discoverers and the great
00:15:50
people of history that that our esteem
00:15:53
for their intellectual attainments how
00:15:57
an incredible number of them are Jewish
00:16:01
my opponent when I see something like
00:16:04
that I said well there's got to be a
00:16:06
good reason for that well how about a
00:16:08
society a culture
00:16:10
that has that is seeped in the
00:16:14
scriptures from a young age I wonder if
00:16:19
that could affect the intellect I wonder
00:16:22
if that could shape our mental
00:16:24
capabilities and potentials do you think
00:16:29
well the evidence is there that there's
00:16:33
something unique there now now God's
00:16:36
intention wasn't to have a race that was
00:16:39
unique and better than everybody else
00:16:41
God's race was God's intention was to
00:16:44
use that one race to bring the Messiah
00:16:47
so that all the races could partake of
00:16:50
the glory of God and the blessings of
00:16:52
the Lord so I don't say that to exalt
00:16:56
the Jewish people I just I'm saying that
00:16:59
to exalt the power of God's Word to
00:17:01
transform and renew your mind and cause
00:17:04
your intellect to blossom and for you to
00:17:06
be as Daniel was said ten times better
00:17:09
than the unbelievers isn't that what
00:17:12
they said about him I mean he's in the
00:17:14
middle of a pagan culture a pagan
00:17:16
government and and and he's excelling me
00:17:19
in the favor of God this is speaking
00:17:24
sense I mean the you know you're
00:17:25
following me on this I mean I'm just
00:17:27
talking about you know we want a
00:17:28
Christianity to be real and to be
00:17:32
life-changing and to have an effect on
00:17:34
us and other people around us Center and
00:17:36
to you know you want to be the person
00:17:38
that when you walk into the room God's
00:17:40
peace comes you know Jesus told the
00:17:45
disciples he said well if you go into a
00:17:46
house and a son of peace is there let
00:17:50
your peace abide there but if it's not a
00:17:52
son of peace and you know you pick your
00:17:55
peace and leave that might be a slight
00:17:59
paraphrase but but basically he said you
00:18:02
should be carrying something that
00:18:05
affects the atmosphere now I can't say
00:18:09
that I always have in my Christian life
00:18:11
but what I can say is I want to you see
00:18:15
I let's let's like God does let let's
00:18:19
let God define normal for
00:18:23
because it might be way beyond what we
00:18:25
ask or think you see and I'm just kind
00:18:30
of into this mode of Lord I want to we
00:18:34
have a little saying at our church Lord
00:18:36
we want it all and we keep telling God
00:18:40
that Monday he told my wife he said are
00:18:43
you sure and you know it kind of little
00:18:47
fear and trembling you know it's like
00:18:48
well we think so what are you planning
00:18:53
to do
00:18:56
it's like Randy was talking eyes not
00:18:58
about you know when God shows up it's
00:19:00
not it's the it's the lion not the lamb
00:19:03
you know or the Pussycat you know and we
00:19:10
think we won at all and if we find out
00:19:14
different we'll let you know no it's
00:19:21
it's you know renewal really stretched
00:19:25
me you know I'm a teacher type and and
00:19:30
and I was in my profit mode pre Toronto
00:19:36
and I was preaching against sin and I
00:19:40
was telling the church they needed to
00:19:41
repent I didn't know there's sin in a
00:19:43
church and the church needs to repent do
00:19:45
you think that might be true well how
00:19:48
many think maybe God has an a way to do
00:19:50
that that's that's effective well let me
00:19:55
just give you a hint preaching against
00:19:57
sin and rebuking the sin in the church
00:19:59
wasn't working real well alright because
00:20:02
everybody knew they they were a sinner
00:20:03
and they'd repented a hundred times I
00:20:04
just couldn't change and here's why they
00:20:09
didn't have enough grace see grace isn't
00:20:14
just favor grace is imparted ability and
00:20:21
and so so I'm preaching against sin and
00:20:26
calling repentance and you know judging
00:20:32
the church
00:20:34
as being all our less spiritual and holy
00:20:37
than myself
00:20:40
and I hear about this outbreak at
00:20:43
Toronto and and of course that the rumor
00:20:48
was that people were getting holy
00:20:50
laughter so I thought well these
00:20:55
charismatic a mile wide and an inch deep
00:21:06
so the guy that was my associate at the
00:21:11
time said I'd like to go back there and
00:21:13
check that out and I said okay so he
00:21:16
goes back there and checks it out and he
00:21:17
comes back and I said Jerry what was it
00:21:22
like he said well you know I served God
00:21:25
for 25 years as boss I just found him
00:21:29
his father I said and see my my message
00:21:36
really is the father heart of God so he
00:21:40
said that and I said hmm and so so we
00:21:46
were invited we were involved in a
00:21:48
pastors meeting and prayer meeting for
00:21:50
pastors and so we should we went that
00:21:52
week and somebody heard that he'd been
00:21:56
to Toronto and they said well what
00:21:58
happened well he gave his testimony and
00:22:01
they all said well pray for us so he
00:22:04
says Joe stand with me as I pray for
00:22:07
these brothers so I'm with him you know
00:22:10
we're laying hands on them and all of a
00:22:13
sudden what was on him got on me
00:22:19
and I fell down and broke out in holy
00:22:22
laughter what a sudden change of heart
00:22:27
about Hillary laughter and after that
00:22:34
Pam and I went to Toronto a couple of
00:22:37
times and received ministry and we
00:22:40
worked with church in our area that was
00:22:42
moving in renewal and had John or not in
00:22:47
various and Larry Randolph and various
00:22:48
other ones Ian to minister and we really
00:22:53
embrace that but after I had been
00:22:56
involved in a little while we started
00:22:58
having a pastor's meaning every week and
00:23:01
they asked me to come and teach on the
00:23:04
biblical history of revival and the
00:23:07
biblical nature of revival or that the
00:23:10
history of revival in the biblical
00:23:11
nature rivo and so they came out with a
00:23:14
publication that they were sending out
00:23:17
to all the people that were involved and
00:23:18
I wrote an article for it
00:23:20
and in the article I wrote the five
00:23:24
evidences I saw of the fruit of revival
00:23:28
that the Toronto revival I said well
00:23:30
people love God more they love to pray
00:23:32
more they love to share their faith more
00:23:35
they love to read the word more and
00:23:38
study the word more and they love one
00:23:40
another more and I said to myself if
00:23:45
they had repented hold of what would
00:23:47
have been the fruit and I realized that
00:23:52
God by his Spirit brought forth the
00:23:55
fruit of repentance through the
00:23:57
manifestations of the Spirit without
00:24:00
confronting sin but he doing it in love
00:24:02
and in mercy changed my ministry forever
00:24:08
because I repented of being a haughty
00:24:12
prophet because you see in all sincerity
00:24:18
I saw that the sin in the church I
00:24:21
wanted out of my life and I wanted it
00:24:23
out of the life of my church but I
00:24:26
thought if I preached against evil good
00:24:28
would come
00:24:30
and there's a lot of people that think
00:24:32
that way today
00:24:33
they preach against sin and evil and
00:24:36
wickedness and then repentance will come
00:24:39
but Paul said it's the goodness of God
00:24:42
that leads to repentance that's what we
00:24:46
saw at Toronto and that's what most
00:24:47
revivals see is the goodness of God is
00:24:50
there a awesome presence of God that
00:24:52
brings people and you know to repentance
00:24:55
and sure that is but you know I have a
00:24:59
conviction that's borne out by some
00:25:03
number of folks who've had encounters
00:25:05
with the Lord you know it when we
00:25:09
encounter him in his glory you're aware
00:25:13
of everything that's not holy in you and
00:25:17
that can make you retreat from him but
00:25:19
if you if you read the stories both
00:25:22
biblically and the personal testimonies
00:25:24
of people who encountered the Lord in
00:25:26
that way the Lord either says fear not
00:25:29
or he grabs their hand and pulls them up
00:25:32
because it's not his intention to drive
00:25:35
them away with his glory
00:25:36
it's his intention to impart his glory
00:25:42
you know that was kind of worth the
00:25:45
price of admission right there it is
00:25:46
good to see he's trying to give himself
00:25:50
away to us not push us away because
00:25:53
we're not what he wants us to be we are
00:25:56
what he wants us to be and he's able to
00:25:58
make us fully what he wants us to be but
00:26:01
you have to have a heart that says he
00:26:03
wants me I'm his Joshua and Caleb
00:26:10
Earth's are perfect examples of this
00:26:13
principle how many remember that 12
00:26:16
spies well we we decided to start a
00:26:20
little beginnings of a Bible School
00:26:23
training center it's called tube 2 spies
00:26:25
Bible School
00:26:29
because too many people are going to ten
00:26:31
spies Bible school that'll sink in in a
00:26:39
minute yeah so so but think about this
00:26:43
now they were part of the same company
00:26:46
that went and saw the Giants in the land
00:26:49
but when they came back what they said
00:26:51
was I'll catch this well if God delights
00:26:55
in us he will bring us in do not fear
00:27:00
our enemies they're bred for us what was
00:27:04
the key God delights in us I want to
00:27:09
encourage you to dare to believe that
00:27:12
God delights in you see I know
00:27:17
everything wrong with me that would make
00:27:19
him not delight in me but I have chosen
00:27:23
to commit what is not sanctified yet to
00:27:28
him and just believe that he does
00:27:32
delight in me and he's able to fix the
00:27:34
areas that I can't fix anyway you see I
00:27:39
just it's like in my struggles for
00:27:43
holiness back when I was a firey
00:27:45
holiness feature I I was looking to the
00:27:51
Lord
00:27:52
I thought if I could repent deeply
00:27:55
enough then I could change and you know
00:28:02
repentance is good but you know after a
00:28:06
while it can become another work you're
00:28:08
trying to do well if I repented enough
00:28:12
well who's leading you to repent I don't
00:28:16
know I thought that's how you get fixed
00:28:20
it isn't repentance part of the process
00:28:24
but you know that the fundamental
00:28:27
principles of the word of God listed in
00:28:30
Hebrews 6
00:28:30
the first one is repentance but it isn't
00:28:36
repentance from sin
00:28:39
repentance from dead works its repenting
00:28:43
of all the religious activity you do to
00:28:45
try to get God to like you that's what
00:28:49
we need to repent the second principle
00:28:53
is faith towards God because once you
00:28:55
trying to be stopped trying to be
00:28:57
religious the only way to advance is to
00:29:00
believe God that's makin sense you see
00:29:07
my heart is to see the church start to
00:29:13
live in the grace of God because there's
00:29:18
no limit to his grace
00:29:22
your hard work what can make you look
00:29:25
pretty good but eventually you see you
00:29:32
know I used to look at preachers and I
00:29:33
think well that guy the way the reason
00:29:36
he's so good is because he's just a
00:29:38
discipline guy well here I am just this
00:29:42
ex-hippie that doesn't have any
00:29:44
discipline self pity they're bad but I
00:29:50
used to think like that and that wasn't
00:29:52
wasn't all that conscious conscious but
00:29:56
but but I would compare myself with
00:29:58
others and I would think about my past
00:29:59
life and I would say well I'm just not
00:30:01
like that but what I when I got
00:30:05
desperate enough for God and I called
00:30:08
out to him I found out that His grace
00:30:12
can teach us discipline his grace can
00:30:17
bring our life into order His grace can
00:30:20
adjust our priorities and His grace can
00:30:26
bring us into sharing his throne and his
00:30:29
authority in this life you see he's in
00:30:33
glory and he's invited you and I into
00:30:36
his glory when when Jesus appeared on
00:30:40
the road to Emmaus he said should not
00:30:43
the Christ have suffered and entered
00:30:47
into his glory
00:30:51
that was that was the revelation you
00:30:52
know the churches majored on his
00:30:54
sufferings well we want nothing but the
00:30:57
cross
00:30:58
well well when Paul said I preach
00:31:00
nothing but but but Christ and him
00:31:02
crucified he wasn't saying he didn't
00:31:04
preach anything other than his death on
00:31:06
the cross he was saying that what he was
00:31:08
preaching was a messiah who was
00:31:10
crucified which was an offense to the
00:31:12
Jews they didn't think a messiah could
00:31:15
ever be crucified in fact that their own
00:31:17
scriptures said if anyone hangs on a
00:31:19
tree he's cursed of God so we know this
00:31:22
Jesus of Nazareth can't be the Messiah
00:31:24
because he hung on a tree he was cursed
00:31:27
of God therefore God showed that he
00:31:28
wasn't the Messiah what an offense to
00:31:32
the Jewish mindset of the Messiah so
00:31:36
Paul says I'm preaching a crucified
00:31:39
Messiah and to the Jews it's an offense
00:31:43
into the Greeks it's foolishness well
00:31:47
what was he saying well he wasn't saying
00:31:50
that that that the resurrection wasn't
00:31:52
part of the process because he says in
00:31:54
the same the same book first Corinthians
00:31:57
he says well if Christ isn't risen we're
00:32:00
still dead in our sins you see and if
00:32:04
you go through the book of Acts it'll
00:32:05
scare you if you go through the book of
00:32:07
Acts try to find anywhere where it says
00:32:10
Christ died for your sins receive him as
00:32:12
your Savior and you can be saved you
00:32:16
won't find it it's not there but what
00:32:19
you will find is he was crucified by
00:32:23
evil hands but God raised him from the
00:32:28
dead that the emphasis of the book of
00:32:33
Acts is on the preaching of the
00:32:35
resurrection why well because the
00:32:38
resurrection yes
00:32:39
it provided forgiveness for sins but it
00:32:42
provided deliverance from this present
00:32:44
evil age and the powers that run this
00:32:46
present evil age so the resurrection is
00:32:48
essential for the death to be effective
00:32:51
because until here eight was raised from
00:32:53
the dead and sat down with his father's
00:32:54
right hand there was no mediator in
00:32:57
heavenly places to mediate a new
00:32:58
covenant there was no no righteous
00:33:03
advocate with the father
00:33:04
there was no high priest whoever lives
00:33:08
to intercede for us at the Father's
00:33:10
right hand if he wasn't risen from the
00:33:12
dead
00:33:13
well resurrection power of Jesus is what
00:33:18
you manifests when you pray for the sick
00:33:19
and they get healed I had a guy come
00:33:22
into my church and we pray for the sick
00:33:24
after service most Sundays and and so he
00:33:27
came up to him and he said well hey I
00:33:28
see you I see your you've learned how to
00:33:32
use the energy and having some
00:33:37
background in the New Age stuff before I
00:33:40
was saved I said no we-we-we channel the
00:33:45
power of the resurrected Christ that's
00:33:47
all we do and he went oh walked away
00:33:52
never saw him again he was he was
00:33:55
offering to help us learn how to channel
00:33:57
better but when I told him that the only
00:34:00
thing we channeled was the resurrected
00:34:02
Christ he just that wasn't quite in his
00:34:05
paradigm but you see that's what we do
00:34:09
where were to become living channels of
00:34:12
the authority and power of the
00:34:13
resurrected Christ and and and as much
00:34:17
as we never fail to honor his
00:34:19
crucifixion and death it paid for
00:34:22
everything but were partaking of his
00:34:25
resurrection and now God is trying to
00:34:29
bring us as the church to be partakers
00:34:31
of his glory and glory I don't know if
00:34:39
you've ever studied glory but glory is
00:34:40
the character and attributes of God
00:34:44
manifested made visible you remember
00:34:51
when Jesus heard the water into wine
00:34:53
John writes about that afterwards and he
00:34:56
says and he said this first sign Jesus
00:34:59
did and began to show forth his glory so
00:35:05
so God is glorified in the son when you
00:35:07
do the works of Jesus
00:35:13
name of Jesus is glorified there's a
00:35:15
great passage in Thessalonians that the
00:35:18
Paul phrase that God would count us
00:35:19
worthy of our calling and that he would
00:35:22
satisfy every desire for goodness and
00:35:27
the work of faith with power that the
00:35:31
name of Jesus might be glorified in us
00:35:34
and we might be glorified in him
00:35:39
according to the grace of our God and
00:35:42
the Lord Jesus Christ so so when you
00:35:47
take the name and you destroy the power
00:35:52
of sickness and fear and oppression and
00:35:55
the works of darkness the name of Jesus
00:35:58
is glorified in you and you're glorified
00:36:00
in him and it's all grace for sessile
00:36:04
second Thessalonians 1:11 as well I'm
00:36:06
quoting and and so so it's just a it's
00:36:15
such an exciting time to be alive and to
00:36:18
be experiencing what God's doing because
00:36:21
we're on the threshold of seeing the
00:36:22
glory of Christ manifest in his church
00:36:24
and the glory of Christ in the church
00:36:30
will culminate in the return of Christ
00:36:35
yeah
00:36:37
how close are we I don't know I know
00:36:39
there's nations that still need to hear
00:36:41
the gospel I know the church needs to
00:36:44
come into a place of maturity I'm
00:36:50
looking for that looking for his glory
00:36:53
in the church you see a lot of people
00:36:55
are watching the Middle East and
00:36:57
everyplace else to find out what God's
00:36:58
timetable is but you know if he's going
00:37:01
to return for a glorious church all we
00:37:02
need to do is look at the church is the
00:37:05
glory there yet while we're making
00:37:09
progress but fullness isn't there yet
00:37:14
amen
00:37:16
well I have managed to chase a number of
00:37:22
rabbits today
00:37:25
well I oh I have one of the book I was
00:37:28
going to tell you about war over the
00:37:31
word this is on the parable of the sower
00:37:33
and you know a lot of times people will
00:37:36
say well you know the Lord's testing me
00:37:38
and he's trying me well you know Jesus
00:37:40
said when you hear the word of God and
00:37:43
it begins to work in you Satan comes
00:37:45
immediately to steal the word he said
00:37:49
persecution and affliction arise because
00:37:51
of the word the wars over the word
00:37:54
whether it's a prophetic word spoken to
00:37:57
you whether it's a scripture that God's
00:37:58
making alive to you whether it's
00:38:00
preaching that you're hearing as you
00:38:02
hear the word there's a war over that
00:38:03
word that you're hearing and Satan
00:38:06
doesn't want the word to progress in you
00:38:08
because because the word has the
00:38:10
potential of releasing Christ in you so
00:38:15
Satan is going to fight the word and
00:38:17
this talks about the principles that
00:38:19
that operate in that and of course that
00:38:22
you start out the good news is your good
00:38:25
ground but as you look at the other
00:38:28
soils you can find out what the devil is
00:38:30
going to try to do how he's going to try
00:38:32
to attack you to get the word out of
00:38:33
your life so that your interest in that
00:38:35
that's also back there and and on that
00:38:38
note I will tell you I'm done
