5 Drinks That Remove Fat From Your Liver & Speed Up Fat Loss | Dr. William Li
Summary
TLDRThe liver plays a crucial role in detoxifying the blood and storing excess fat. Excess body fat can lead to fatty liver disease, impairing liver function and necessitating medical intervention. To combat this, the video highlights five beverages that help reduce liver fat through various mechanisms: 1. Green Tea: Contains EGCG, boosting brown fat thermogenesis to burn harmful fat. 2. Coffee: Promotes brown fat activity and increases metabolism through chlorogenic acid. 3. Tomato Juice: Lyopene in tomatoes activates brown fat. 4. Watermelon Juice: Rich in lycopene and citrulline, enhancing antioxidant effects and vascular health. 5. Water: Encourages fullness, thermogenesis, and hydration, preventing liver burden. These drinks aid in reducing liver fat, contributing to overall liver health. Consultation with a healthcare professional is advised for effective treatment of fatty liver.

Timeline
- 00:00:00 - 00:05:00
The video starts with an introduction to the liver, emphasizing its function as a detoxifying organ that filters blood and stores fat. The liver can accumulate more fat than it can store, leading to a condition where fat is sent to the liver, swelling its storage capacity. The liver is likened to a car's fuel tank in terms of energy storage and usage.
- 00:05:00 - 00:10:00
The host explains how overeating and storing too much energy as fat can lead to liver issues. He describes how fat cells, or adipocytes, expand to store excess fat, similar to a sink overflowing when blocked. The liver helps detoxify but can fail if overwhelmed by fat, likening it to a storage area where overflowed energy is kept.
- 00:10:00 - 00:15:00
Details on how continuous overeating leads to the liver storing excess fat, impairing its function. This overflow is compared to an oil spill, illustrating how the liver absorbs excess fat as a detoxifying measure, but this impairs liver function, leading to health issues like blood clotting problems and increased bleeding risks, making liver failure a pressing issue.
- 00:15:00 - 00:20:00
The speaker highlights the growing issue of fatty liver due to overeating rather than alcohol, which has led to increased liver transplants. He stresses this condition's seriousness, noting younger individuals are increasingly affected. As the liver plays a crucial detoxifying role, its failure can cause significant health complications, including affecting protein production essential for blood coagulation.
- 00:20:00 - 00:25:00
Symptoms and severe consequences of fatty liver are explored, such as feeling tired or crummy, swelling, and potential cirrhosis leading to jaundice. The liver's regenerative ability is mentioned, emphasizing the importance of reducing fat to enable liver recovery. This sets the stage to discuss how beverages can aid in reducing harmful excess body fat.
- 00:25:00 - 00:30:00
The introduction to drinks that help burn liver fat starts with an explanation of how green tea, rich in EGCG, can activate brown fat thermogenesis. The beneficial role of brown fat in generating heat and reducing harmful white fat is presented. Clinical studies show green tea's effectiveness in reducing waist circumference and improving metabolic health.
- 00:30:00 - 00:35:00
Besides green tea, the benefits of matcha, oolong, and pu-erh tea are discussed. These teas help in metabolizing body fat and activating thermogenesis. The importance of drinking these teas without additives like sugar or dairy is stressed to maximize their fat-burning potential.
- 00:35:00 - 00:40:00
Coffee is highlighted as an effective drink similar to green tea for activating brown fat. It boosts metabolism and helps in burning body fat while creating new brown fat. Studies indicate that regular coffee consumption can lead to body fat reduction, countering fatty liver, but suggests opting for unsweetened options.
- 00:40:00 - 00:47:00
The role of tomato and watermelon juices in reducing liver fat through their lycopene content, which activates brown fat thermogenesis, is elaborated upon. Research shows reductions in waist circumference and improved metabolic parameters with their intake. Emphasis is placed on consuming natural juices without added sugars for optimal health benefits.

Stop Lifting Weights!!! There's a better way
- 00:00:00today we're going to talk about five
- 00:00:02drinks that can help remove fat from
- 00:00:04your liver first of all what is your
- 00:00:06liver your liver is an organ in your
- 00:00:07body it's one of the largest organs in
- 00:00:09your body and it actually plays an
- 00:00:12absolutely critical role to
- 00:00:15detoxify your body but it does it
- 00:00:18through your blood so your blood sends
- 00:00:20um a huge amount of volume into your
- 00:00:23liver your liver actually filters it and
- 00:00:26the cells of in your liver actually
- 00:00:27basically clean your blood remove those
- 00:00:30toxins and send it on its way to
- 00:00:33actually go get more oxygen and
- 00:00:34nutrients to be pumped out now the liver
- 00:00:38actually has some fat in it and it
- 00:00:40actually can hold on to Fat so when you
- 00:00:43actually have more fat than your body
- 00:00:46can store it winds up actually being
- 00:00:49sent over to the liver so think about
- 00:00:50the liver as kind of a a storage area uh
- 00:00:54for extra fat you can just build up
- 00:00:56there until your body needs that fuel
- 00:00:59which comes into form of fat and burns
- 00:01:01it right down all right so we're going
- 00:01:03to come into this a little bit more but
- 00:01:05your liver's basically main function is
- 00:01:07to cleanse and detoxify your
- 00:01:11body so what's the connection between
- 00:01:14fat body fat and liver like liver fat so
- 00:01:18I'm going to actually walk you through
- 00:01:19what happens when you actually eat and
- 00:01:21how your liver plays a role when it
- 00:01:23comes to fat when you actually eat food
- 00:01:25all right whatever it is even healthy
- 00:01:28foods you're eating your food you're
- 00:01:30chewing it it's going down into your
- 00:01:32system you're digesting it your
- 00:01:33metabolism your body's hardwired to take
- 00:01:36the energy from the food that you've
- 00:01:39eaten and store it in your muscles use
- 00:01:42it in the blood and anything extra can
- 00:01:45be stored into body fat the body fat can
- 00:01:48store it anywhere it can store it under
- 00:01:50your skin subcutaneous fat it can store
- 00:01:52it into the center of your body okay the
- 00:01:55tube of your body can have fat it's
- 00:01:57called visceral fat little bit of fat is
- 00:02:00normal it's a storage area a lot of isol
- 00:02:03fat is dangerous it doesn't matter how
- 00:02:06big you are you could be um real thin uh
- 00:02:09and have a skinny tube of your body but
- 00:02:11it can be packed with fat and so then
- 00:02:14you're active your en you're you're
- 00:02:16using up the energy you're burning down
- 00:02:18the fuel all right until it's time to
- 00:02:20load up again on your fuel so think of
- 00:02:22your body like a car you kind of
- 00:02:24alternate between going fast going down
- 00:02:26the road to do your business uh versus
- 00:02:29looking at the fuel tank and it's slow
- 00:02:30you got to fill up again filling up is
- 00:02:32like eating when you eat it you store it
- 00:02:34into your fuel tank all right like it
- 00:02:37just like a car at a filling station and
- 00:02:39in the case of your body energy is
- 00:02:41actually stored in body fat until you
- 00:02:42burn it right down all right now what
- 00:02:46happens if you uh actually start to
- 00:02:50accumulate fat more and more fat well
- 00:02:54fat is accumulated in cells called
- 00:02:56adipocytes all right um these are
- 00:02:59special fat cells uh that you're born
- 00:03:02with in fact it's one of the early cells
- 00:03:04that forms in your body and it's
- 00:03:06critical because a deposites or fat
- 00:03:08cells are fuel tanks for your body now
- 00:03:12unlike a fuel tank in a car which is
- 00:03:14made out of metal and very rigid the osy
- 00:03:17or fat cell is stretching so you can
- 00:03:19actually take a fat cell load it up with
- 00:03:21fat and it can stretch up to three times
- 00:03:24its size
- 00:03:25300% larger and if you do that over and
- 00:03:29over and over you can kind of see how
- 00:03:31your body would start to swell and
- 00:03:33that's actually how fat grows now when
- 00:03:35your body's actually burning fuel you're
- 00:03:38exercising you're uh you're in motion
- 00:03:41what happens the body what is that the
- 00:03:43body will draw down that fuel that's
- 00:03:45stored and in fact it even does it uh
- 00:03:48when you're not in motion when you're
- 00:03:50sleeping your body will s to burn down
- 00:03:52that fuel as well at night all right so
- 00:03:55whenever you're not taking in calories
- 00:03:57you're not eating your body is actually
- 00:03:59going to switch ears and start to burn
- 00:04:01down that fat all right when you
- 00:04:03exercise uh or your emotion you're going
- 00:04:05to burn it down even faster so that's
- 00:04:08how body fat is built up that's how it's
- 00:04:11actually burned down and that's just
- 00:04:14part of the cycle of life now when your
- 00:04:19body fat actually is filled up so let's
- 00:04:21say you're eating and overe eating
- 00:04:24that's actually one of the most common
- 00:04:25causes of fat accumulating in your liver
- 00:04:28you're eating tooo many calories
- 00:04:29calories those calories are going into
- 00:04:31your stomach they're being absorbed into
- 00:04:34your bloodstream and now you got to
- 00:04:35store them you store them into body fat
- 00:04:37remember I told you single fat cell can
- 00:04:39swell three times its size and then the
- 00:04:42next fat cell needs to get stored up and
- 00:04:44it will swell three times the size and
- 00:04:46then the third one swells up three times
- 00:04:48in size over and over again as you're
- 00:04:50actually loading up on your calories all
- 00:04:53right with overeating you're way
- 00:04:56overloading on the fat the fat is
- 00:04:57building up oh man you're kind of
- 00:04:59running out of fat so what it does is it
- 00:05:01calls on your stem cells in your fat to
- 00:05:04make more fat cells and when I went to
- 00:05:06medical school I was always taught by my
- 00:05:09professors that you're born with all the
- 00:05:10fat you're ever going to have that's not
- 00:05:12true we now know with more modern
- 00:05:15research that in fact fat can actually
- 00:05:17generate more of itself all right it
- 00:05:20when it needs to through these stem
- 00:05:22cells so energy into your body gets
- 00:05:25stored in fat fat can expand and then
- 00:05:29fat will shrink when you're actually
- 00:05:30Burning Down the energy but what happens
- 00:05:31if you keep on overeating keep on
- 00:05:33overeating way more than you're actually
- 00:05:35burning it down right so think of this
- 00:05:37like a sink right sink in your bathroom
- 00:05:41or your sink in your kitchen you've got
- 00:05:43to spig it on that's energy coming in
- 00:05:45that's like fuel coming in you got a
- 00:05:47drain uh removing the fluid that's
- 00:05:50actually burning away that energy all
- 00:05:53right so couple of things that can
- 00:05:55happen if there is a blockage in the
- 00:05:57sink there's no outflow guess what then
- 00:06:00you can just have eat regular amounts of
- 00:06:02food put regular amounts of water into
- 00:06:04your sink and it'll build up build up
- 00:06:06build up build up and overflow this is
- 00:06:08what happens when you actually have
- 00:06:09liver failure and livers can fail when
- 00:06:12they're full of fat when liers are full
- 00:06:14of fat uh they they're not functioning
- 00:06:17properly and they're not able you're not
- 00:06:19able to burn down that fat because
- 00:06:21there's so much fat in it and so now
- 00:06:24with the more fat you eat it just keeps
- 00:06:25on swelling and swelling and building up
- 00:06:27building up all right now the other
- 00:06:30thing that you can actually do to
- 00:06:31overwhelm your sink is if you put on the
- 00:06:34spigot on full all right and the drain
- 00:06:36doesn't change and you walk away and now
- 00:06:39your water level goes up up up up and
- 00:06:41same thing in your body fat and fuel
- 00:06:44goes up up up up eventually it's going
- 00:06:45to spill over and this is what actually
- 00:06:48happens with fat cells in your body when
- 00:06:50you're storing fuel you're eating
- 00:06:53overeating overeating some more still
- 00:06:55overeating all right now your fat cells
- 00:06:57swell eventually there's spillage just
- 00:07:01like the sink that that you put on wide
- 00:07:03open the spigot water flows out of the
- 00:07:06sink down into the floor all right
- 00:07:08water's got to go someplace guess what
- 00:07:11when you overeat and you overwhelm the
- 00:07:13capacity of fat to store that fuel what
- 00:07:16happens the fat the energy spills out
- 00:07:20out of the fat into your bloodstream and
- 00:07:22now you've actually overflow the tank
- 00:07:25now in your human body that overflow
- 00:07:29gets caught by the liver remember I told
- 00:07:31you the liver's job is to detoxify so
- 00:07:33when you've got this spillage of fat so
- 00:07:36think about like an oil tanker running a
- 00:07:38ground and spilling all the oil in the
- 00:07:40ocean well when that actually happens in
- 00:07:42your body you've got fat spilling out
- 00:07:46your liver basically jumps into action
- 00:07:48to detoxify the body so it absorbs all
- 00:07:51that fat and it stores it all up okay
- 00:07:53it's just another sink it's another
- 00:07:55storage area for the all this extra fat
- 00:07:57your body doesn't want to um lose energy
- 00:08:00that is captured so it'll actually store
- 00:08:02it in a liver the liver gets filled with
- 00:08:04fat remember what I told you when you
- 00:08:06overload the liver with fat it stops
- 00:08:08functioning properly and remember what I
- 00:08:11said about the function of the liver it
- 00:08:13is a detoxifier in your body when you've
- 00:08:16got too much fat that's overflowed your
- 00:08:18tanks of your fat tissue and that fat
- 00:08:21overflows into your liver your liver
- 00:08:22accumulates it now it knocks out your
- 00:08:24liver function now the liver can't
- 00:08:27detoxify that can cause all kinds of
- 00:08:29problems right because now you're not
- 00:08:31detoxifying other things as well and the
- 00:08:34liver also makes proteins and so when
- 00:08:36your liver is not functioning well it's
- 00:08:38also not going to make the right kinds
- 00:08:39of proteins what kind of proteins well
- 00:08:42like the proteins you need to clot your
- 00:08:44blood so when you have liver failure
- 00:08:46guess what your liver is unable to make
- 00:08:49those substances that actually help your
- 00:08:51blood clot so you become highly
- 00:08:54vulnerable to bleeding Hemorrhage which
- 00:08:56can actually be fatal all right so there
- 00:08:58are real consequences to overloading
- 00:09:00your liver and having fatty liver
- 00:09:03accumulate this is why we're talking
- 00:09:05about this all right here's the thing
- 00:09:07fatty liver due to overc consumption is
- 00:09:10the number one cause today for for the
- 00:09:13need of liver
- 00:09:14transplantation that's quite a change
- 00:09:17from when I was in medical school
- 00:09:20learning it was alcoholism alcoholics
- 00:09:23had a liver transplant because their
- 00:09:25livers got shot um and people with
- 00:09:28hepatitis also had shot livers now in
- 00:09:31today's world with overabundance of food
- 00:09:34over consumption of food of calories now
- 00:09:37it's actually livers and by the way this
- 00:09:40non-alcoholic because it's not due to
- 00:09:42alcohol fatty liver disease is happening
- 00:09:45in younger and younger people all right
- 00:09:47not good remember I told you the liver
- 00:09:49has to detoxify your body all right now
- 00:09:53when the liver is actually packed with
- 00:09:55fat guess what it also leaks fat out
- 00:09:59your liver and now you actually have
- 00:10:00lipolysis now you've got fat in your
- 00:10:02bloodstream uh as well so fatty liver
- 00:10:07overflows your tank uh not good so what
- 00:10:10are some of the symptoms that you have
- 00:10:12of fatty liver well if you have it you
- 00:10:14probably know you it's more tired
- 00:10:17fatigued Mala you feel just kind of
- 00:10:19crummy overall and your liver is in
- 00:10:22located in the right upper quadrant so
- 00:10:24you might actually have some discomfort
- 00:10:26because the liver is kind of swollen and
- 00:10:28a little bit
- 00:10:29now when eventually when the liver shuts
- 00:10:31down you can have sorosis that's
- 00:10:33basically liver shutdown scarring in the
- 00:10:36liver liver shut down and some of the
- 00:10:39things that people experience are itchy
- 00:10:42skin the liver is passing supposed to
- 00:10:45pass a large volum of blood uh in order
- 00:10:47to detoxify it if it's not working
- 00:10:50properly the fluid backs up and guess
- 00:10:52where that fluid goes it gets deposited
- 00:10:54into the hollow of your belly it's
- 00:10:57called the peronal uh uh space and the
- 00:11:00fluid that builds up is called a cites
- 00:11:02in fact you can actually shake the belly
- 00:11:04and you'll hear it slashing around and
- 00:11:06and actually sometimes what we have to
- 00:11:08do is to put a needle in there to drain
- 00:11:09that fluid it's a real problem when you
- 00:11:11have liver failure um that fluid backing
- 00:11:14up not only in a belly it's also down to
- 00:11:17your legs so how many people have you
- 00:11:18seen um like swollen legs well liver
- 00:11:21damage is one of the causes of Edema and
- 00:11:24you can actually put your finger into
- 00:11:26the um into the swollen part of the leg
- 00:11:29and it's like putting it into bread
- 00:11:31dough it'll cause a pitting a space
- 00:11:32it'll it'll leave a mark right there in
- 00:11:35that valys remember I told you uh liver
- 00:11:38failure also is accompanied by problems
- 00:11:40with um your circulation well you can
- 00:11:42start to develop these they call them
- 00:11:44spider angomas because they look like
- 00:11:46tiny little blood vessel spiders that
- 00:11:48are forming on your skin and of course
- 00:11:50because you're not detoxifying your
- 00:11:52blood the toxins back up and guess what
- 00:11:55your skin can become start to turn
- 00:11:58yellowish and the scare of your eyes the
- 00:12:00light of your eyes can also get become
- 00:12:03yellowish so medical doctors like me if
- 00:12:05we are examining somebody in the
- 00:12:07emergency room or the clinic or the ICU
- 00:12:10we're actually looking for skin uh and
- 00:12:13and Scara in the eyes for signs of liver
- 00:12:17uh uh damage uh and therosis and liver
- 00:12:20failure okay now when you get to that
- 00:12:23end stage where pretty much everything
- 00:12:25gets shot guess what you're going to
- 00:12:27need help and that help might just just
- 00:12:29might rely on getting a liver transplant
- 00:12:32it's hard to get a liver transplant
- 00:12:34because there's not enough livers that
- 00:12:35go around but the reason we're having
- 00:12:37this whole conversation and the reason
- 00:12:39that I think it's really critical for me
- 00:12:41to communicate uh this issue to you is
- 00:12:44because the liver before it fails is
- 00:12:48quite resilient the liver can actually
- 00:12:50regenerate all right uh and so if you
- 00:12:53actually unburden the liver by burning
- 00:12:56down more fat all right before you get
- 00:12:59to the end game you actually can allow
- 00:13:01your liver to kind of grow itself back
- 00:13:04and you can actually be okay again
- 00:13:06here's the thing about the liver if you
- 00:13:08took the liver and you remove twoth
- 00:13:09thirds of it okay cut away twoth thirds
- 00:13:12of it oneir that's left actually will
- 00:13:14grow itself back over a period of months
- 00:13:16so liver is highly regenerative it wants
- 00:13:19to actually do it thing that's how
- 00:13:20important it is in your body all right
- 00:13:23it's a highly resilient organ so if you
- 00:13:26can if you got fatty liver and you burn
- 00:13:28down fat you're going to unpack your
- 00:13:30liver unburn your liver and allow it to
- 00:13:32actually regenerate if you are on your
- 00:13:34way to a fatty liver or you want to
- 00:13:36avoid a fatty liver you definitely want
- 00:13:38to actually burn that fat away all right
- 00:13:40and that's really really critical so
- 00:13:42let's talk about the five beverages that
- 00:13:44you can actually drink to unburden your
- 00:13:46liver by burning away body fat harmful
- 00:13:50excess body fat beverage number one
- 00:13:53green tea here it is again the
- 00:13:56ubiquitous green tea when it comes to
- 00:13:57health what's in tea what's in green tea
- 00:14:00it's got a polyphenol a cattigan called
- 00:14:04egcg Epi Gallow cakin 3 Galley egcg all
- 00:14:10right and you know what egcg does it
- 00:14:12does a lot of things okay but in this
- 00:14:13case uh for burning down fat it
- 00:14:16activates Brown fat
- 00:14:18thermogenesis so let me explain this to
- 00:14:20you green tea activates Brown fat
- 00:14:22thermogenesis and brown fat is kind of
- 00:14:25special kind of fat in your body it's
- 00:14:26good fat it's not wiggly jiggly it's not
- 00:14:29under your arms it's not under your chin
- 00:14:30it's not your muffin top brown fat is
- 00:14:33wayer thin and it's plastered around
- 00:14:35your neck a little bit behind your
- 00:14:37breast bone between your shoulder blades
- 00:14:38a little bit in your belly and when
- 00:14:42Brown fat is activated and green tea
- 00:14:44will activate the egcg will activate the
- 00:14:46brown fat what that does is it fires up
- 00:14:50kind of like a space heater all right
- 00:14:52and when it fires up a space heater it's
- 00:14:55going to create require energy to create
- 00:14:58Heat thermogenesis is creating heat all
- 00:15:01right and in order to create that heat
- 00:15:03that energy that brown fat uses is drawn
- 00:15:06from excess body fat like visceral fat
- 00:15:10all right so this is actually a way to
- 00:15:12turn on good fat to burn down bad fat
- 00:15:15and it's a way of actually lowering
- 00:15:16overall excess harmful body fat in your
- 00:15:19body green tea can actually do this the
- 00:15:22another analogy that I often give for a
- 00:15:24brown fat what it does
- 00:15:26thermogenesis if you have a range in
- 00:15:28your kitchen
- 00:15:29right uh and a gas range what do you do
- 00:15:32when you want to heat up a pot of water
- 00:15:33or cook some soup go to the range you
- 00:15:36turn on the the no the the dial and you
- 00:15:41go click click click click whoosh right
- 00:15:45that's what happens now you can put the
- 00:15:46PT on you can boil it now when you go
- 00:15:48click click click whoosh you're actually
- 00:15:49drawing fuel gas from your gas line
- 00:15:52maybe a maybe a a gas tank by the side
- 00:15:54of your house or maybe Town gas into
- 00:15:57that burner and then then and then when
- 00:16:00you ignite it whoosh now you got that
- 00:16:02flame that's exactly like what brown fat
- 00:16:05actually does and it's burning down the
- 00:16:08fuel from your excess white fat okay
- 00:16:11that's bad fat good fat versus bad fat
- 00:16:14green tea can actually do that now how
- 00:16:17do we know that it actually works well
- 00:16:20this has been studied in the laboratory
- 00:16:22and green tea and egcg can actually have
- 00:16:25that effect on Brown fat when you study
- 00:16:27it in the microscope in the lab but more
- 00:16:29importantly it works in a clinic it
- 00:16:31works in real people so studies in Iran
- 00:16:34have looked at women 70 women who are
- 00:16:37coming from a diabetes clinic and they
- 00:16:39have metabolic syndrome all right now
- 00:16:41this is kind of on your way towards
- 00:16:43diabetes and otherwise Badness due to
- 00:16:46excess body fat and problems with your
- 00:16:49metabolisms so you know what's what are
- 00:16:51the signs you have metabolic syndrome
- 00:16:54high blood pressure high blood
- 00:16:57cholesterol High lipids
- 00:16:59uh high blood sugar and a large waist
- 00:17:02circumference waist circumference is
- 00:17:04actually kind of a marker of how much
- 00:17:06body fat you actually have in a tube of
- 00:17:08your body right so everyone whether
- 00:17:10you're a big person or a skinny person
- 00:17:12your body and cross-section is a tube
- 00:17:15and there's fat that actually grows in
- 00:17:16the middle of there right so what
- 00:17:18happens when your visceral fat that's
- 00:17:20the fat inside the visc of your guts
- 00:17:23what happens when that fat expands it's
- 00:17:25going to stretch out your tube now think
- 00:17:28think about that if you had a belt okay
- 00:17:31belt belt size at normal you get excess
- 00:17:35body fat look at that you're going to
- 00:17:37undo a couple of belt holes in order to
- 00:17:39be able to buckle your belt right so
- 00:17:42that's why waist circumference is
- 00:17:44actually
- 00:17:45a a surrogate a marker of how much body
- 00:17:49fat harmful body fat excess body fat you
- 00:17:51might actually have so this study in
- 00:17:53Iran I looked at 70 women who are in a
- 00:17:55diabetic Clinic with metabolic syndrome
- 00:17:57gave the women seven ounces of green tea
- 00:18:00that's just under a fluid cup of green
- 00:18:03tea not very much in fact and they gave
- 00:18:05it to them to drink three times a day
- 00:18:06for eight weeks all right and there's
- 00:18:08another placebo group that just got
- 00:18:10lukewarm water the tea drinkers
- 00:18:12basically um uh uh drank their uh tea uh
- 00:18:17sort of breakfast lunch uh in the
- 00:18:19afternoon uh and at the end of eight
- 00:18:21weeks the tea drinkers lost 2 PBS and
- 00:18:24they also shrank their waist
- 00:18:26circumference by almost an inch and
- 00:18:28means that that visceral fat got burned
- 00:18:30down click click click whoosh green tea
- 00:18:34activates the brown fat the brown fat
- 00:18:36burns down the fuel Burns away the fat
- 00:18:39and guess what your waste or Comfort
- 00:18:40shrinks when you're losing excess body
- 00:18:42fat this is the kind of thing that you
- 00:18:44can actually use to unpack your liver
- 00:18:46unburden body fat uh in your liver now
- 00:18:50in this study the women who had green
- 00:18:52tea also had lower blood pressure they
- 00:18:55had better fasting glucose it's a sign
- 00:18:57of metabolic health and they actually
- 00:18:59had better blood lipids as well blood
- 00:19:01blood cholesterol now uh these are all
- 00:19:06helpful signs that you're losing excess
- 00:19:08body fat and having a better metabolism
- 00:19:11all right this is going to be helpful if
- 00:19:12you want to if you're having a battling
- 00:19:14with a fatty liver and you want to
- 00:19:16actually turn away from it this is the
- 00:19:18kind of thing that you actually want to
- 00:19:19do lose some excess body fat now there
- 00:19:21was a similar study from Teran
- 00:19:24University of medical Sciences they
- 00:19:26looked at 63 men and women and these
- 00:19:29people by the way were between the ages
- 00:19:30of 35 and 65 so basically adults okay
- 00:19:34all the way up to you know middle age
- 00:19:37and they were overweight and these
- 00:19:39people had type two diabetes so they've
- 00:19:41had Frank type 2 diabetes and the study
- 00:19:45found that if he gave them the people
- 00:19:47four cups of green tea per day over two
- 00:19:50months okay what happened is they lost
- 00:19:53three pounds of weight okay but they
- 00:19:56also lost almost two inches of of their
- 00:20:00waist circumference so they're they
- 00:20:01shrink like by two holes in their belt
- 00:20:04usually those belt holes are about an
- 00:20:05inch apart right so remember the waist
- 00:20:08circumference is stretched by excess
- 00:20:10body fat and it shrinks you get a
- 00:20:12tighter belt actually uh if you shrink
- 00:20:15and lose your visceral fat now these tea
- 00:20:18studies were not done in people with
- 00:20:20fatty liver but the principles are the
- 00:20:23same fatty liver you got way too much
- 00:20:25fat in your body you know you can burn
- 00:20:27it off by eating by exercising by motion
- 00:20:30you can also eat a little bit less but
- 00:20:32if you want a little extra help with
- 00:20:34beverages green tea is one of those that
- 00:20:37can actually help you U burn off burn
- 00:20:40down harmful body fat Okay um and by the
- 00:20:43way such as green tea turns out if you
- 00:20:46are tea lover most people like green tea
- 00:20:49but if you want to try other teas that
- 00:20:50are also effective here's some good news
- 00:20:52for you it turns out that you can uh
- 00:20:55improve your metabolism and burn down
- 00:20:58harmful body fat with matcha tea That's
- 00:21:01the kind of bright green tea that you
- 00:21:04would actually get at a sushi bar for
- 00:21:06example and by the way matcha is an
- 00:21:09exceptional tea because while green tea
- 00:21:13is like the tea leaves steeped right so
- 00:21:15you take the whole leaves you put them
- 00:21:16in a bag or you put a loose leaf and all
- 00:21:19the good stuff the polyphenols the
- 00:21:20egcg's dissolving out of the Tea Leaf
- 00:21:22into the water with matcha you take the
- 00:21:25entire leaf and ground it into a powder
- 00:21:28and stir that in so you get the entire
- 00:21:30Leaf you get all the ecgc all the
- 00:21:32polyphenols and you get all the dietary
- 00:21:34fiber as well good for gut health good
- 00:21:37for metabolic Health uh helps you burn
- 00:21:39fat and so matcha is another tea that's
- 00:21:42been shown to be fat lower oong tea is
- 00:21:46another tea all right uh and if you know
- 00:21:48what oong tea is you you're like you
- 00:21:51probably nod your head and say Hey you
- 00:21:52know that's my favorite now wulong tea
- 00:21:54is the kind of tea that you will often
- 00:21:56get in a Chinese restaurant it is um not
- 00:21:59green bright greens doesn't grassy it's
- 00:22:01got a little bit of an oxidized taste
- 00:22:03because it's slightly oxidized it's not
- 00:22:05a black tea not English English
- 00:22:07breakfast tea but it also still has egcg
- 00:22:11the cakin that actually helps you burn
- 00:22:13off extra body fat now if you want to go
- 00:22:16dark all right English breakfast tea
- 00:22:19earl grape that's fine but you really
- 00:22:21want to take it to the Limit there is a
- 00:22:24um black tea called poer tea PU aposte e
- 00:22:28r pu T pu is a small city in Southwest
- 00:22:32China that originally developed this
- 00:22:35Smoky fermented tea it's a fermented tea
- 00:22:39meaning it's got its own healthy
- 00:22:41bacteria growing in it it's dried all
- 00:22:43right for a long period of time and it
- 00:22:45was originally used in a training route
- 00:22:47so you know this these little bricks of
- 00:22:49fermented tea could um travel long
- 00:22:52distances without spoiling all right
- 00:22:55well turns out researchers have found
- 00:22:57that Pooh ER tea can actually shrink
- 00:22:59your
- 00:23:00waistline uh it's got the egcg it's got
- 00:23:03the cakin but it's also a probiotic tea
- 00:23:06that can also improve your metabolism so
- 00:23:08although I talked about green tea we
- 00:23:11also talked about matcha and ulong and
- 00:23:14pu tea and I'm telling you black tea
- 00:23:17like English breakfast tea and R gr are
- 00:23:19also really good um here's a pro tip
- 00:23:22though if you're going to drink tea
- 00:23:23drink it straight don't put sugar in it
- 00:23:26all right sugar carbs calories you now
- 00:23:28you're actually not doing yourself a
- 00:23:30favor you're trying to burn down harmful
- 00:23:31body fat all right let that tea by
- 00:23:34itself do its job the other thing is
- 00:23:37that you know some people actually like
- 00:23:38to put dairy in their tea you want to
- 00:23:40cut your tea with a little bit of milk
- 00:23:43don't use Dairy and the reason is this
- 00:23:46Dairy from cows have dairy fat and that
- 00:23:49dairy fat forms little soap bubbles that
- 00:23:51bind up the polyphenols and then you
- 00:23:54drink it the the little soap bubbles
- 00:23:56that contain the polyphenols just uh
- 00:23:58trickle down your gut and you haven't
- 00:24:00really absorbed it all right so drink
- 00:24:02tea straight if you can all right um if
- 00:24:05you want to cut it with something cut it
- 00:24:07with nut milk almond milk uh is fine soy
- 00:24:11milk is fine they don't actually form
- 00:24:12those types of bubbles beverage number
- 00:24:14two coffee my favorite all right now
- 00:24:18coffee has been studied a lot for
- 00:24:20metabolism it's definitely helpful for
- 00:24:22metabolism it definitely Burns body fat
- 00:24:24and the way that coffee does this is
- 00:24:26that it activates Brown fat
- 00:24:29thermogenesis just like green tea so
- 00:24:32coffee with chlorogenic acid one of its
- 00:24:34bioactives activates your brown fat
- 00:24:36that's the useful fat around the side of
- 00:24:38your neck behind your breast bone a
- 00:24:39little bit behind your shoulder blades a
- 00:24:41little bit in your belly and it fires it
- 00:24:43up click click click whoosh and then
- 00:24:46your brown fat is is generating heat and
- 00:24:49it's stealing it's powering itself with
- 00:24:51fuel and it's stealing from your
- 00:24:53visceral fat your harmful fat activated
- 00:24:56Brown fat burns down harmful unwanted
- 00:24:58fat unburdens your body of fat that's
- 00:25:01really good if you're really trying to
- 00:25:03um counter a fatty liver now the other
- 00:25:07thing about coffee and chlorogenic acid
- 00:25:09is that it actually prompts your body to
- 00:25:12make even more Brown fat put more gas
- 00:25:15burners on your stove all right now it's
- 00:25:17not click click click gooosh with one
- 00:25:19you want six burners you want eight
- 00:25:20burners coffee will actually give you
- 00:25:23lots of burners to be able to draw more
- 00:25:25fuel and in fact there have been
- 00:25:27clinical studies that show that this
- 00:25:29actually works in fact one involved 504
- 00:25:31people and they're all coming from
- 00:25:33Indonesia and it show that drinking
- 00:25:35coffee coffee drinkers actually had less
- 00:25:38body fat and by the way although
- 00:25:40caffeine can stimulate your metabolism
- 00:25:42as well in this study from Indonesia of
- 00:25:45coffee drinking they were able to remove
- 00:25:47the caffeine and they found even without
- 00:25:49caffeine coffee the chlorogenic acid
- 00:25:51would fire up your brown fat and
- 00:25:54actually cause you to lose weight
- 00:25:55another study from the Harvard School of
- 00:25:57Public Health and Rec researchers from
- 00:25:59Singapore and Switzerland actually um
- 00:26:01looked at something else really
- 00:26:02interesting they took 26 men and women
- 00:26:05ages 35 or 36 to 69 these people were
- 00:26:09overweight and they had insulin
- 00:26:10resistance right so they're on their way
- 00:26:12to actually developing type two diabetes
- 00:26:14and half the group was given four cups
- 00:26:16of coffee per day four cups of coffee uh
- 00:26:19I probably drink four cups of coffee a
- 00:26:21day all right and the types of coffee
- 00:26:23they made were with robusta beans and
- 00:26:25they drank four cups of coffee a day for
- 00:26:27six months I can tell you uh if you had
- 00:26:31a kitchen camera on me I'd be drinking
- 00:26:33at least that uh over for many many more
- 00:26:36months in six months and the other group
- 00:26:38that they were actually in researching
- 00:26:40got a placebo that looked and tasted
- 00:26:42like coffee but there's no coffee in it
- 00:26:44no caffeine no coffee and the coffee Dr
- 00:26:47drinkers had their Brew at breakfast at
- 00:26:50midm morning middle of the morning at
- 00:26:51lunch and also after lunch all right
- 00:26:54that's when they drank their four cups
- 00:26:55of coffee and at the end of the day what
- 00:26:58what they found that the coffee drinkers
- 00:27:00lost 4.6 lb they lost 4.6 lb of body fat
- 00:27:06he lost body fat by contrast the placebo
- 00:27:10drinkers actually gained body fat they
- 00:27:13gained weight all right completely in
- 00:27:15the opposite direction this really shows
- 00:27:17you that coffee has an effect on helping
- 00:27:19your body burn down extra body fat click
- 00:27:21click click
- 00:27:23whoosh beverage number three tomato
- 00:27:26juice now listen I love tomatoes and
- 00:27:29when I was a kid I remember drinking uh
- 00:27:32tomato juice all the time you remember
- 00:27:34that whole vegetable juice V8 um had
- 00:27:36it's like a cuddle like tomato and every
- 00:27:39now and then I'll actually I mean think
- 00:27:40about like Bloody Marry mix right tomato
- 00:27:42juice now tomatoes and their juice
- 00:27:46contain something called lopine lopine
- 00:27:49is a bioactive a natural chemical and
- 00:27:52it's a carotenoid it helps to make
- 00:27:54tomatoes and other Foods red red in
- 00:27:57color and tomatoes uh with lopine have
- 00:28:01been shown to activate your you guessed
- 00:28:04it brown fat thermogenesis all right you
- 00:28:07can trigger on Brown fat thermogenesis
- 00:28:09and burn down extra Brown fat in fact
- 00:28:11there was a study from Portugal that
- 00:28:14gave just one Ripe Tomato to a bunch of
- 00:28:17young women in grad school before lunch
- 00:28:19to eat every day for like 30 days and
- 00:28:21guess what they found that nothing else
- 00:28:24changed just giving that one tomato
- 00:28:26would cause them to lose body fat and
- 00:28:28and they would lose their visceral fat
- 00:28:30their their waist size would actually
- 00:28:31get shrink a little bit and all of their
- 00:28:33met metabolic parameters would increase
- 00:28:35so just like all the other Foods I
- 00:28:37talked about the beverages green tea
- 00:28:39coffee tomato juice will actually do the
- 00:28:41same with the lycopene from Tomatoes now
- 00:28:44research from China have looked at 25
- 00:28:47women who were normal weight and what
- 00:28:49they did is they gave 1.2 cups all right
- 00:28:53uh one and a fth cups of tomato juice to
- 00:28:55drink every day for eight weeks right so
- 00:28:57think about this as a breakfast tomato
- 00:29:00juice a cup is a little bit more than a
- 00:29:01cup not very much and at the end of the
- 00:29:04study guess what they found these women
- 00:29:06actually lost weight shrank their waist
- 00:29:08circumference and when these researchers
- 00:29:11looked at the blood of the tomato juice
- 00:29:13shrinker they actually found that there
- 00:29:16was also a decrease in the inflammatory
- 00:29:18marker this in this case the
- 00:29:20inflammatory marker is called
- 00:29:22mcp1 m is in Michael C is in Charlie P
- 00:29:25is in Peter -1 mcp1 went down
- 00:29:28that's an inflammatory marker and by the
- 00:29:30way excess body fat is inflammatory so
- 00:29:33this is another example where body fat
- 00:29:36went down you measured in weight you
- 00:29:37measured in Waist cumference you
- 00:29:39measured it in the inflammatory marker
- 00:29:41associated with fat as well and that was
- 00:29:43just a little bit more than a cup a day
- 00:29:46of tomato juice all right now if you're
- 00:29:48going to get commercial tomato juice
- 00:29:50just please look at the label on the
- 00:29:53side and make sure that there isn't um
- 00:29:56preservatives or flavoring or colorings
- 00:29:58that you don't want to have in there all
- 00:30:00right you're going to want to have pure
- 00:30:02tomato juice you can learn how to make
- 00:30:03it yourself as well and by the way um
- 00:30:06we're talking about beverages here but
- 00:30:07you can probably guess if you this works
- 00:30:09with tomato juice tomato sauce is also
- 00:30:11probably um uh going to be also a good
- 00:30:15way to to integrate this into your diet
- 00:30:18got to be practical you know you might
- 00:30:20not want to drink tomato juice every day
- 00:30:22then go for tomato sauce all right okay
- 00:30:25beverage number four related two
- 00:30:28tomatoes are is watermelon juice now
- 00:30:32you're like wait a minute Dr Lee
- 00:30:33watermelons Tomatoes nothing alike you
- 00:30:36are right except both tomatoes and
- 00:30:39watermelons have lopine that's right
- 00:30:41watermelon which has got red flesh
- 00:30:43remember I told you the lopine helps to
- 00:30:45provide color watermelon has lopine it's
- 00:30:49got a lot of fluid in it which is good
- 00:30:51but it's also got lopine in it um a lot
- 00:30:53of people don't know this but
- 00:30:55watermelons were not originally they
- 00:30:57they came from Africa but they were not
- 00:30:59originally red they I think they were
- 00:31:01yellow and they weren't sweet they were
- 00:31:03just used for water for hydration and
- 00:31:06you know the hot environment but over
- 00:31:08time they got bread to be red and sweet
- 00:31:11and that redness actually brought with
- 00:31:13it uh lopine now researchers have been
- 00:31:16looking at watermelon juice and here's
- 00:31:19what they found they found that homemade
- 00:31:22watermelon juice that means you get
- 00:31:24fresh watermelon you chunk it up you put
- 00:31:26it into a blender okay and you Pate it
- 00:31:29can make about three and a half cups of
- 00:31:30juice this way there these researchers
- 00:31:32it three and a half cups of juice all
- 00:31:34right that's a pretty sizable amount of
- 00:31:36juice that's more than a tall glass but
- 00:31:39that drinking that watermelon juice for
- 00:31:41three weeks could double the amount of
- 00:31:44lopine that fat fighting substance in
- 00:31:46your blood because it's in your blood
- 00:31:48that where it goes to work all right so
- 00:31:50watermelon juice actually is a good way
- 00:31:53to get more lopine into your uh body
- 00:31:56have some tomato juice for breakfast
- 00:31:58have some watermelon juice for lunch or
- 00:32:00in the afternoon or if you're going to
- 00:32:02go out if you're at the beach or if
- 00:32:04you're going for a hike drink some
- 00:32:06watermelon juice uh before you leave and
- 00:32:08you know why because the watermelon
- 00:32:12juice has powerful antioxidant
- 00:32:14properties and if you're going to go out
- 00:32:15into the sun if you have a glass of
- 00:32:18watermelon juice um a couple of hours
- 00:32:21before you go out it will actually
- 00:32:23protect you your your DNA from the
- 00:32:25damage from the ultraviolet variation
- 00:32:27that go out and on the beach right so
- 00:32:30here's a simple thing just have some you
- 00:32:32want to hydrate anyway Hydrate with
- 00:32:34fresh watermelon juice this is a good
- 00:32:35thing to prepare if you're going to go
- 00:32:37out to the beach and you want to pack
- 00:32:39something uh again if you're going to
- 00:32:41buy commercial store-bought watermelon
- 00:32:43juice please look at the label most
- 00:32:46commercial watermelon juices of a lot of
- 00:32:48other things besides watermelon juice
- 00:32:50all right they got some watermelon juice
- 00:32:52what some real watermelon juice but
- 00:32:54they've got uh sometimes artificial
- 00:32:56coloring some sometimes added sugar uh
- 00:32:59sometimes preservative sometimes other
- 00:33:01juices no you want to go for the pure
- 00:33:03one so make it yourself if you want to
- 00:33:06let's pick up a watermelon next time
- 00:33:07you're at the grocery store and keep it
- 00:33:09on your counter and then when you're
- 00:33:11you're actually ready to make the juice
- 00:33:12sitting right there all right um by the
- 00:33:15way the other thing about watermelons
- 00:33:18that and watermelon juice that's healthy
- 00:33:20this is like an extra credit benefit for
- 00:33:23you is that watermelon flesh has
- 00:33:26something called citrine that's c t r u
- 00:33:30l l i n e
- 00:33:32citrine which your body uses to make a
- 00:33:37substance called nitric oxide nitric
- 00:33:40oxide is absolutely critical for your
- 00:33:42health and the more you actually have
- 00:33:43citrine the more nitric oxide your
- 00:33:45body's going to have um I tell you what
- 00:33:47nitric oxide does it actually causes
- 00:33:50your blood vessels to dilate relax guess
- 00:33:52what that happens then your blood
- 00:33:54pressure goes down and the other thing
- 00:33:56that nitric oxide does is it actually
- 00:33:59helps to pave and manage maintain your
- 00:34:03blood vessels so inside your blood
- 00:34:04vessels your circulation got 60,000
- 00:34:07miles with the blood vessels in your
- 00:34:08body they all respond to nitric oxide um
- 00:34:12the nitric oxide will actually call up
- 00:34:14stem cells that will look around and
- 00:34:17look in your blood vessels and anywhere
- 00:34:18there's a pothole or damage it'll
- 00:34:20actually replace it all right so it
- 00:34:22regenerates your blood vessels nitric
- 00:34:25oxide is a is a regenerative substance
- 00:34:27so watermelon juice containing citrine
- 00:34:29can actually uh give you that benefit uh
- 00:34:32as well hello there just a quick note I
- 00:34:35have another free resource I want to
- 00:34:37share with you five of my favorite
- 00:34:40mediterran foods to fight fat listen I
- 00:34:43don't personally follow any special diet
- 00:34:45but I do follow a food approach I call
- 00:34:48it the mediterian way because it brings
- 00:34:51together the healthiest Cuisines from
- 00:34:53two parts of the world that live really
- 00:34:55long and well the Mediterranean and Asia
- 00:34:58and I put together a list of five
- 00:35:00specific foods that you can add to your
- 00:35:02plate mediteran style so you can
- 00:35:04optimize your metabolism and fight
- 00:35:06harmful body fat download it for free
- 00:35:09right now from the description below now
- 00:35:13back to the video again make it yourself
- 00:35:16you're going to buy get store bought
- 00:35:18just be really careful because most of
- 00:35:20the watermelon juice that I've ever seen
- 00:35:22in a grocery store is packed in plastic
- 00:35:25now you got microplastics to worry about
- 00:35:27and it it's got a lot more than
- 00:35:29watermelon juice in it it's got added
- 00:35:31sugar and you want to avoid that if
- 00:35:33you're trying to actually unburden your
- 00:35:35liver uh from fat all right now the
- 00:35:39fifth beverage is drinking water all
- 00:35:43right drinking water is the most popular
- 00:35:47beverage in the world number two is tea
- 00:35:50number three I think is coffee all right
- 00:35:53and clinical studies have taken a look
- 00:35:55at what happens when you drink water
- 00:35:58it's more than you think like water's
- 00:35:59good for hydration all right but it
- 00:36:01turns out that if you actually drink
- 00:36:03water a couple of things happen first uh
- 00:36:07it stretches your stomach out when
- 00:36:08you're drinking water before a meal and
- 00:36:10when your stomach's stretched out it
- 00:36:12sends a signal to your brain hey you
- 00:36:13know we're kind of filled up here so
- 00:36:16don't get too hungry so you can actually
- 00:36:18blunt your appetite just by drinking
- 00:36:20water before a meal that means less
- 00:36:22calories are going to go in all right so
- 00:36:24drinking water actually can uh provide
- 00:36:26that the other thing that really
- 00:36:28interesting is that drinking water
- 00:36:29triggers
- 00:36:31thermogenesis now this has been
- 00:36:33studied we believe that it's because
- 00:36:36there's temperature sensors that are in
- 00:36:38our stomach so you drink water glug glug
- 00:36:41glug goes down into your stomach and
- 00:36:43sitting in your stomach guess what water
- 00:36:45tends to be cool or cold it activates
- 00:36:49the temperature sensors in your stomach
- 00:36:51and all of a sudden your body goes whoa
- 00:36:53near my core I got cold water I got to
- 00:36:56fire up uh uh I got to fire up to heat
- 00:36:58it up because I don't want to be of a
- 00:37:00cold uh core what does that firing up
- 00:37:03mean thermogenesis all right and so
- 00:37:06researchers in Germany have looked at
- 00:37:08this they actually gave found that
- 00:37:10drinking just two cups of water um
- 00:37:13caused an increase in metabolism by 30%
- 00:37:16increased metabolism 30% you're burning
- 00:37:18down fat you're actually firing up your
- 00:37:20thermogenesis brown fat fights white fat
- 00:37:23good fat fights bad fat you're burning
- 00:37:25down fat and now you're actually in
- 00:37:27better shape this is just drinking water
- 00:37:29all right just to warm yourself up plus
- 00:37:32the idea of stretching out your stomach
- 00:37:33so that you're going to be feeling more
- 00:37:36full so you'll be less tempted to
- 00:37:38overeat remember the number one cause of
- 00:37:41fatty liver in this country is actually
- 00:37:44overeating so this is a good way water
- 00:37:46actually um helps to circumvent that
- 00:37:48counter that so now this whole thing
- 00:37:50about drinking cold water and your body
- 00:37:52have to heat it up to actually body
- 00:37:54temperature in order to not freeze your
- 00:37:57core scientists have actually calculated
- 00:37:59this if you drank six cups of water
- 00:38:01every day for a year six cups of water
- 00:38:04every day for a year you would burn on
- 00:38:07just to warm that water up you'd burn
- 00:38:1017,400 calories just for warming up that
- 00:38:13water all right and that's the energy
- 00:38:16equivalent of five pounds of body fat
- 00:38:20that's what we're talking about here
- 00:38:22water fills you up uh as well so you're
- 00:38:24less likely to eat and then on top of
- 00:38:26that it actually requires some energy
- 00:38:28some fuel that you can burn away some of
- 00:38:30that excess body fat in order to be able
- 00:38:33to warm it up now the other thing about
- 00:38:36water if you're actually dealing with a
- 00:38:38fatty liver you want to really watch out
- 00:38:40for is to stay hydrated remember I told
- 00:38:43you that the liver's main role big role
- 00:38:46is actually to detoxify your body and if
- 00:38:50you have liver problems liver failure or
- 00:38:53got fatty liver and and you are
- 00:38:56dehydrated all right now you're
- 00:38:58dehydrated all those toxins that are not
- 00:39:00getting purified in your body are
- 00:39:02getting concentrated now you're going to
- 00:39:03run out through the liver you know
- 00:39:05that's going to be even more painful for
- 00:39:08your overall health so staying hydrated
- 00:39:10dilutes out anything your blood okay in
- 00:39:13terms of toxins and it's actually better
- 00:39:15better and easier as a wise thing to
- 00:39:18have uh when you actually have fatty
- 00:39:20liver in fact that's just something that
- 00:39:21you should be doing anyway is hydrating
- 00:39:23but if you've got fatty liver you
- 00:39:25definitely want to actually drink water
- 00:39:27to be able to pre to prevent
- 00:39:29dehydration all right here's one more
- 00:39:32thing that I got to tell you as a pro
- 00:39:33tip if you are getting water from a
- 00:39:35store most likely you're buying plastic
- 00:39:38water bottles right you're going to go
- 00:39:39for a hike what are you going to do
- 00:39:40you're going to get a sixpack of bottled
- 00:39:42water you're on an airplane uh what what
- 00:39:45what are they handing you they're
- 00:39:45handing you a bottle of plast of water
- 00:39:48in a plastic bottle you go to a sporting
- 00:39:50event you're running a marathon what do
- 00:39:52the people on the sidelines hand you
- 00:39:54they hand you a bottle of water usually
- 00:39:56right like we are so used to bottled
- 00:39:58water um that we don't even give it a
- 00:40:00second thought so is bottled water a
- 00:40:03great source to get your
- 00:40:05water no and I'm going to tell you why
- 00:40:09because now we know that bottled of
- 00:40:11water almost always almost always will
- 00:40:15have microplastics in that water you
- 00:40:18know why because the plastic including
- 00:40:20the plastic that's been reused re
- 00:40:22recycled plastic it's shedding particles
- 00:40:25into the water like billions of
- 00:40:26particles into into the water you can't
- 00:40:28see it but it's there you drink it now
- 00:40:30you're drinking plastic into your body
- 00:40:32all right we now know that you know it's
- 00:40:35very hard to avoid plastic we now know
- 00:40:37that if you look in blood you can
- 00:40:38actually find plastic if you look in h
- 00:40:41heart tissue if you look in blood
- 00:40:42vessels if you look in blood clots if
- 00:40:45you look in the narrowing of the
- 00:40:47atherosclerotic arteries okay and pick
- 00:40:50out the plaque and look inside it under
- 00:40:51the microscope we'll find microplastics
- 00:40:54they've even found microplastics in
- 00:40:56men's testicles okay embedded in your
- 00:40:59testicles that's not a good thing and
- 00:41:02it's invisible so there's microplastics
- 00:41:05smaller particles are called
- 00:41:06nanoplastics and we didn't used to worry
- 00:41:09about that in fact I would say even a
- 00:41:11year ago I would have told you you know
- 00:41:13we don't have enough evidence yet to
- 00:41:15know that microplastics are actually
- 00:41:17harmful so um uh it's probably okay but
- 00:41:21cut down your plastic now more recent
- 00:41:24data shows us microplastics are
- 00:41:26definitely harm in fact a study from
- 00:41:28Italy looked at men who were in the
- 00:41:31hospital uh having to have surgery to
- 00:41:33remove blockages from their arteries
- 00:41:36neck neck arteries right uh and when
- 00:41:39they looked under the microscope guess
- 00:41:40what in those blockages they found
- 00:41:42pieces of plastic you can look this up
- 00:41:44on the Internet um just look for AOS
- 00:41:46aquatic plaque microplastics and hit
- 00:41:49image and you'll actually see the
- 00:41:50picture of the plastic studing that um
- 00:41:53studing uh the plastic it's kind of like
- 00:41:55litter on a beach except that this is
- 00:41:57inside your body and stuck to your blood
- 00:41:59vessels and what the study uh from Italy
- 00:42:01actually showed is that people with
- 00:42:04plastic studing their vessel blockages
- 00:42:06had a four-fold increase in having a
- 00:42:08heart attack or a stroke so this is no
- 00:42:11kidding anymore we're actually beginning
- 00:42:12to take a look at real harms things that
- 00:42:15you don't want to actually have happen
- 00:42:17so going to drink water get it in a
- 00:42:20glass bottle or a glass container avoid
- 00:42:23plastic water bottles it's also better
- 00:42:26not to use plastic water bottles you got
- 00:42:27to throw away and it's going to wind up
- 00:42:29in the sea or wind up in a dump we
- 00:42:31already have plastic everywhere that's
- 00:42:33even in the air that we breathe so you
- 00:42:36know use less plastic the other thing is
- 00:42:39that if you're storing plastic or taking
- 00:42:41water with you let's say you have well
- 00:42:43water at home and you're going to
- 00:42:44actually load up a bottle think about it
- 00:42:47those uh water containers that you might
- 00:42:49actually have a thermos make sure you
- 00:42:51get one that's got metal in the middle
- 00:42:53of it and not plastic right think about
- 00:42:56those plastic Sports water bottles that
- 00:42:59you might have for your bike you might
- 00:43:00take for a jog uh you might go out
- 00:43:02hiking with guess what you're going to
- 00:43:05be putting those things in the
- 00:43:07dishwasher and when the dishwasher wears
- 00:43:09down the plastic and what do you think
- 00:43:10happens the plastic crumbles and it goes
- 00:43:13into that water and then you're drinking
- 00:43:15it and you can't see the plastic this is
- 00:43:19a big problem all right so I'm going to
- 00:43:23say it again drinking water is good for
- 00:43:26helping you lose excess body fat among
- 00:43:28many beverages we talked about but if
- 00:43:29you're going to have water don't get it
- 00:43:31in a plastic bottle avoid plastic for
- 00:43:34your health no matter what it takes in
- 00:43:36order to be able to do that now some
- 00:43:38people will say okay let's figure we can
- 00:43:41I'll have glass bottles or I'll get it
- 00:43:42out of a tab Dr Le how much water should
- 00:43:46I drink should I really drink 10 tall
- 00:43:48glasses of water a day like isn't that
- 00:43:50what Boy Scout said or your mother told
- 00:43:52you or your teacher told you you know
- 00:43:55look this is actually what happens with
- 00:43:56these G generalizations drink 10 tall
- 00:43:58glasses of water a day you know there's
- 00:44:00no rule of thumb research has shown that
- 00:44:03you don't not not everybody needs to
- 00:44:05drink 10 tall glasses of water day you
- 00:44:07should drink liquid every day and that
- 00:44:09liquid should be mostly water all right
- 00:44:13um but it's not necessarily 10 glasses
- 00:44:16it all depends on context if you're a
- 00:44:17big person you might need more water to
- 00:44:19be able to hydrate your tissues if
- 00:44:21you're a smaller person a thinner person
- 00:44:23you might not need quite as much water
- 00:44:26if you are at home working uh you might
- 00:44:29not be losing too much water you're
- 00:44:31probably not going to need quite as much
- 00:44:33water probably not 10 glasses but if
- 00:44:36you're out working in the garden or
- 00:44:37you're hiking someplace or you're
- 00:44:39training for a marathon or you're going
- 00:44:41to the gym working out or swimming okay
- 00:44:44you're probably going to need more water
- 00:44:45in fact it may be even more than 10 cups
- 00:44:47of water so the best way to think about
- 00:44:49how much water you actually need to have
- 00:44:51is to be uh in touch with your body to
- 00:44:55to feel how much you need it's something
- 00:44:57called interception right and so just
- 00:45:00feel like okay do I need to drink water
- 00:45:03pay attention to it if you feel like
- 00:45:04you're thirsty if your body is telling
- 00:45:07you it needs water drink some water okay
- 00:45:09sip it don't chug it all right chugging
- 00:45:13is like after you've been lost in a
- 00:45:14desert sip it in order to be able to
- 00:45:16actually let your body equilibrate take
- 00:45:18your time with it but you know make
- 00:45:21satisfy your thirst that's the best way
- 00:45:23to know uh how much water you should
- 00:45:25drink now we talking about losing body
- 00:45:28fat and the beverages that can actually
- 00:45:30be helpful but here's the thing in the
- 00:45:32context of fatty liver I need you to
- 00:45:34understand what I said at the very
- 00:45:36beginning your liver is a critical organ
- 00:45:39for detoxifying your blood when you've
- 00:45:41got a fatty liver you're pretty far down
- 00:45:44the road in terms of having a health
- 00:45:47impairment right the good news is you
- 00:45:49can actually do things like drink
- 00:45:51certain beverages like we talked about
- 00:45:52to be able to unpack the fat out of your
- 00:45:55body your liver will actually start to
- 00:45:57recover and that's actually something
- 00:45:58you can do for yourself but if you have
- 00:46:00fatty liver you definitely need to be
- 00:46:02working with your doctor in order to be
- 00:46:05able to actually deal with it because
- 00:46:06fatty liver is a serious problem all
- 00:46:09right it is not a homegrown remedy type
- 00:46:12of issue the things we talked about uh
- 00:46:14things you can drink and I'm going to do
- 00:46:15another YouTube video talking about
- 00:46:17foods you can eat to unpack your fat
- 00:46:19fatty liver but the things these are all
- 00:46:22sort of the the things that you can do
- 00:46:24for yourself the healthare you can do at
- 00:46:26home but you're going to need to be
- 00:46:27under the supervision and the guidance
- 00:46:29of a medical doctor who's probably going
- 00:46:31to refer you to specialist to help you
- 00:46:33uh have the best outcome if you have
- 00:46:35fatty liver and this requires
- 00:46:38professional
- 00:46:39Heth hope you learned something from
